Nice to dine out again! Payne’s Pizza Buffet really hit the spot for lunch today. The staff is always friendly, the place is always clean, the pizza…?… ALWAYS delicious!My favorite is their Abbies Pig, it’s like a symphonic celebration of meats. If you’re in Delaware for a visit I recommend checking them out. Need pizza delivery? Payne’s full menu is available for delivery or pick up, they even have a drive up window!

Just lost another customer and the $40 per week we were willing to spend because: food is overpriced for the quality (pretty bad), inability to get through on the phone, terrible online ordering system, and more. Lets top it off with one of the RUDEST, crashes talking manager Ive ever heard - said her name was Julie we believe. To the owner(s): you cant find this type of behavior and food acceptable because you think youre making a couple of bucks. You really need to hire a business consultant to guide you into a business that is known for great customer service and food not because you lucked out being the only place open. Fix your advertising, phone system, internet, etc. We, nor our friends, will ever order from here again.
Paynes Pizza is an absolute must for anyone looking for an inexpensive and quick mid week dinner. Their buffet has a salad bar, theyll make any pizza you want for it and even offer a dessert pizza. The staff is very friendly and the place has an old school feel to it, which is a good thing. Also, their subs are MASSIVE! If youre a stranger to Paynes...youre missing out.

Very good pizza and salad! Very clean and they kept the bar full of pizza, even though they were busy. Great value lunch, 8$ with a drink. You cant get a lousy combo meal for that, and you support a local business. Win, win.
We do not care for the sweetness of the sauce and lack of consistency woth their food.
Best Ohio pizza franchise. The buffet can be sketchy- dont eat the salad, but why would you eat salad when theres ALL THAT PIZZA?Their dessert pizza rocks too.
We usually get pizza to go but decided to try a sub. Not impressed with the sub we got but willing to try a different style next time. Not impressed with a steak sub that is made up of cut in half hamburger patties. Good thing I like hamburger. My favorite item there is the Big Daddy pizza.

I have been ordering from Paynes forever. I always order crab salad because I dont eat meat. Today I ordered a crab salad and a crab sub. I got a pepperoni sub and a chicken salad. Wow! So I called and the person I spoke with informed me, in a very snotty tone, that that is what I ordered. Ok, this made me mad. I informed her that I dont eat meat and Did Not order that. So she said she would ask her manager. When she came back on the line she said they would bring me a new order as soon as possible and I needed to give the the food they gave. She was very snotty and I got no apology. I will no longer be ordering from Paynes. Too bad to, I liked the food. Its a shame the customer service is so bad.
I stop at Payne s twice a week after work and pickup food. Always good I get grilled chicken salad and large 16in philli sub for family. Real happy my salad today had garlic croutons on it . Awesome.
Never ever have I had a problem with paynes until tonight been waiting an hour and hlf for my order call them and they had no order for me. I was lost somewhere but I knew exactly what it costs and I have record of me calling but they had no order for me. So now im waiting again for my order hopefully itll come this time .....
Waynes makes great pizza. There pizza buffet pairs the pizza with a drink and nice veggies for a salad. To top off the meal they have Dessert Pizzas. Everything is freshly made and they will make special request pizzas. Try them out. Weve never had a bad meal there.

Used to love their Greek salads. I cannot have onion and have requested it be left off my salad. The salad has come with onion mixed into my salad every time anyway. The onion is cut up into small pieces all thru the salad so I can’t even pick it out. Sadly, we just can’t order from there anymore.
Paynes is a local staple and a great value. My family are big fans of their sub combos. Good food at good prices!
The buffet is a great deal, and I find the quality to be second to none. It’sa great lunch option in Delaware, Ohio. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They like asking for special requests when you place an order, and that’s an appreciated touch of service.
Love the pizza, love the crust. I dont think Paynes is a s good as it was 4 or 5 years ago. A lot of the staff has changed and the quality and service has dropped since then. The buffet is very affordable, but they are slow to fill the buffet on days when there is a crowd. Many will sit and wait while the pans go empty.
All food was amazing and dinning area was very clean . Staff was a little less then expected with their friendliness.( And it is possible they were just having a bad day)But still a great little place to eat with amazing food . Highly recommend
Loved being able to go out to lunch with co-workers. The buffet is just what we wanted! Salad with all the toppings and a good range of pizzas hot and fresh. The combinations gave me some ideas about how to change up the toppings I order from home! And a special thanks for having a taco pizza on the buffet so I could get a couple slices and fill that craving!!
We have driven by Paynes many times after church and planned to check it out someday. Today we finally stopped in and enjoyed a nice lunch. The pizza was very good. We also got boneless wings and tried two sauces; BBQ and parmesan garlic. The wings were good; perfectly cooked, although I would have preferred the garlic parmesan to be a bit spicier. Great prices and nice staff; we will definitely go back!

Very cold inside. The nachos was highly disappointing and not clear on the menu. Didnt know the chips were about 6 chips in the bottom of the foil pan with very little meat, cheese baked then topped in lettuce. They had no tomatoes I guess due to prices of tomatoes went up as they said so they havent bought any. The pepperoni pizza was absolutely horrible, very dry not enough cheese covered the gaps in the pizza. We wont return we will take out business to the Paynes in marion its much better there by 100000%.
First time getting paynes. Best banana pepper/bacon pizza Ive have; and wasnt expensive. But I have depression and anxiety and dont go out much so ignore what I say
Ordered at 8:30 on a Wednesday night and never received my pizza. Tried to call but they stop answering at 20 till. Got Papa Johns instead.Edit: Actually received something this time but it was slathered in mayo when I got it. Asked for no mayo.
Paynes nachos are the best,I received my order within half hour,delivery driver was really sweet!!!

This is one of my absolute favorite pizza places. The staff is always super friendly and helpful even when theyre slammed. Pepperoni and cheese pizza is so good here and their taco salads are as well!
Strange pile of pots & pans sitting on one of the tables. Bathroom smelled like death ran over by a hot garbage truck. Food was delicious though.
The lunch buffet is the bomb! They just kept bringing out pizza after pizza after pizza. They were all delicious too! $7.50 for the buffet with drink included...what a deal! 5 stars!
I have had multiple problems with Paynes. I live a bit in the country so it is very nice of them to be about the only place to deliver to me, Ive had a few issues but I really enjoyed their pizza. A while ago I ordered pizza, called when it was about an hour to inquire where they were. I was told that a driver had already come and gone. I asked why he hadnt called and was told that he had. They told me that he wouldnt deliver to me and just to pick it up. A few minutes later the driver calls and says he is nearby and will actually turn around and bring me it I say awesome and would have tipped well. Then I receive a phone call from a snooty Manager lady who tells me that the driver was misinformed and would not be delivering it and if I wanted it to come pick it up. I would have had she not been the rudest person I have ever spoken to. I cancelled the order and told them to refund me, as I would not be picking it up. She was rude about it but it happened. Then a few months later I start ordering without issue and they were very nice. I call today and guess what I have a note on my account that says DO NOT DELIVER. The person on the phone was very nice about it. Why wont they deliver to me, I am willing to pay extra, I am nice to every employee and tip well. They made the mistake and handled it poorly. What ever happened to the customer is always right. I could understand if I was screaming and yelling at them over the phone but I am courteous.
Got a Pizza delivered last night.......my driver thru my change back at me and when i opened up the box all the pieces were just bunched up in a giant mess. Called to complain about the rudeness of the driver and tell them how jacked my pizza was, offered to send me another pizza in 30-40 minutes but needed the jacked pizza back......well i was hungry the 40 mins ago when i ordered the pizza so i asked if they could just put a credit on my account........they argued with me....while the pizza is decent the people and the way they act will end up leaving a worse taste in your mouth than the worst pizza.Update The problem was resolved and the management team was polite and was willing to do what was right changed from 1 to 4 stars
I prefer Delaware over Marion. Delaware staff is awesome. Food in Delaware is WAAAAY BETTER.... Blindly ordered Italian sub in Marion didnt realize theres no pepp, but has gristle textured sausage balls on it. Wasnt good at all. Pizza by the slice is only good if ur lucky2get it FRESH...
Let me start by saying, your pizza is my second favorite pizza. Everything else is tied for first. So , I hate it, however, my GF really likes your subs. We ordered last night and they were different. I even kind of like them, but last night, they were the pits. I dont know what changed, ie cooks, ingredients, but, if I get another bad batch, I wont be buying anymore.@franch_ise

We usually order a couple times a month delivered to work. Drivers are pretty friendly. Cant beat the Friday special 16 Xtra large pizza for 10 bucks.
We order from Payness Pizza on a regular basis. The food is always hot and very good. The employees are always very friendly. We have had no problems what so ever. Love their food!
Good pizza buffet. Its small, but they keep the pizzas coming every few minutes. They also have a pretty wide delivery radius which is nice if you live on the outskirts of town like I used to.
We ordered delivery, our order was taken wrong, and we were over charged. when we sat down to eat the pizza we seen the order was wrong, which made since then why our order was so expensive. It was over loaded and covered in at least three different meats. I dont eat meat but my boyfriend does. He was so hungry he went ahead and ate a piece. I called to tell them about the mistake, and the lady on the phone sounded very annoyed and said that they would send another out. We offered to pick it up but it was said that it would not be a problem. It took over an hour and I was starving. By the time the pizza came my boyfriend had already ate and wasnt hungry. (considering the pizza slice was like eating a huge piece if sloppy meaty casserole). I ate one piece of the new pizza, and it tasted fine, nothing really special. That night around 3am I woke up in terrible sweats, and cramps. I had nausea and vomiting first, then diarrhea. I ended up in the ER for almost 7hrs, with IVs, puke buckets, and my boyfriend missed work. We have a toddler also so that made it even more interesting. Needless to say the doctor said I had a bad case of food poisoning. The odds that I was the only one sick and the only one to eat the second pizza (the payback pizza) cant be a coincidence. I dont understand because we were so polite about it, and if the pizza hasnt been so outrageous expensive, we wouldnt even have called back and bothered. My family cant help but feel like out was intentional. This was my first review, so sorry if its long. I felt like this needed to be shared.

Waste of money,the teens in charge take the money and then refuse to make the pizza you want. They want to spend more time arguing with the customer instead of doing their job (making pizza). They recently raised up the prices for buffet but they will not help out the customer.
Have been calling over 25 times in the last hour and tried to do an online order but it said not accepting. Called Delaware store they answered the phone right away. Everytime I called marion busy. I guess small business doesnt care.

Adequately priced food for higher quality than what you would expect from your normal pizza joint. You can dine in and there is a buffet. Delivery or pick up is also an option.
Pretty good pizza for the price! Only thing I would say is bad is the amount of grease you take off the pizza. I could fry a whole meal from it. Order your pizza with extra sauce cause if you dont it comes pretty dry.
Ordered six pieces of boneless buffalo “wings”. Literally these were the soggiest, sorriest, and worst wings I have EVER had. These “wings” were FROZEN nuggets likely from Tyson. They do not toss the wings, just simply drizzle sauce on top. I live 5 minutes away and when I opened my wings they were soggy and literally inedible. They should not sell this product, and if they do, it should be titled on the menu “Tyson nuggets”. Seriously BAD BUSINESS!

I dont know what has happened to this place I wont order from here again we order at least once a week tonight after a 14 hour day I ordered food the lady was rude they forgot my chicken I called to tell them instead I got a rude employee said manager made it and said he put it on there which he didnt or I would be calling they never apologized instead told me we r closed all I wanted was maybe Im sorry can we fix that on ur next visit ....I work and manage in the food industry and I would never treat or allow my employees to treat someone the way I was treated they dont care and if they dont care then I dont care to order from them anymore and I will tell my friends and family my experience thank you paynes for make my long day end like this very disappointing. My advice to you if u dont like this industry then leave its service like this which makes people not want to support ur business.

Went to the delaware location to order the everyday special. Was told thats only on. Saturday. Showed them the paynes website. Was told thats a third party that does the website and he cant do anything about it. What a joke. Never ordering here again. Bait and switch

2022-06-02Dining room is clean but has an old school diner feel which I love. Bathrooms are also tidy. I had a chicken wrap once which was generous on toppings, but a bit dry. Their pizza is decently priced. They dont use a lot of sauce, but that suits my taste. Not a big fan of lots of sauce. It reminds me of a classic pizza. Good and filling! Also, I havent had the buffet, but I will next time I come.

2022-06-15I love their chicken Parmesan and my wife likes their Stromboli. Only complaint was that the pizza looked a little over cooked... cheese was dark... and the second time my wife had the Stromboli, she felt the onions were in too large portions (large chunks). Otherwise, enjoyed it... weve had their food twice.

2018-06-26Got a pizza (Abbie’s Pig ) and wings ( Buffalo ), the food was not that great. The pizza and wings were both about the same quality as a frozen tombstone pizza and microwaved Tyson wings. The service was good, they seemed friendly and attentive. But unless you enjoy frozen pizza that the toppings fall off of when you pick it up I would not recommend this pizza place.

2021-06-29Average pizza place. didnt like how pizza hut and papa johns answered their phones so went here instead. i refuse to give money to those with no manners or etiquette so this place lucked out. not impressed overall. better than pizza hut. papa johns is better but couldnt trust them over the phone for even a pizza order for some reason so paynes ended up with my $11.

2021-08-25Neither quality NOR quantity when it comes to these toppings. Our pizza cost $5 more due to toppings, and yet there is hardly any to account for that cost. The pizza was dry, cold and thoroughly unappetizing, and it looks like they only topped the very center of the pizza, with the rest of the surface ignored, making a ring of toppings half the size of the pie. There is no detectable flavor in the crust or sauce, and the cheese seems especially tough and rubbery. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone whom has a budget or taste buds.

2022-02-25Went there for the pizza buffet tonight arrived around 5:10 they had no pizza ready for the buffet, then they were bringing out 1 pizza at a time when there was 6 guys and a couple woman. Frustrating!!

2022-04-22Good pizza for a good price. Can occasionally be difficult to get through to but the staff is friendly in the pizza is usually ready fairly quickly. This location can be a bit tricky to drive through but definitely worth it. Daily specials especially make it worthwhile.
