Paws in other cities:
The food was delicious and looked beautiful on the plates.. The chef was good.. One trouble was my husband ordered a dish with several ingredients that he liked, the ones that came with it on the menu. When he got his food, some items were omitted and a few others were added. The added items were things he didnt care for.. The very first impression we had arriving into the empty restaurant.. was ... no one said anything right away. Then were were told to just sit anywhere. It didnt feel like a gracious thing to say, but more like a brush off. When our server came to ask what we wanted to drink, we asked what beer they had, he said it was on the top shelf behind the bar, my husband went up to try and see the bottles, I asked if there was a beer list, and the waiter said no, and then left.. i couldnt see either, so i got out my camera to take a pic to enlarge it to see the selection.. the waiter then came around to read the bottles for us.. The place is in a glitzy hotel .. but the Paws restaurant.. was overall disappointing.. I am sure it isnt always this way.. but it was tonight when we were there..
My wife and I had dinner at the PAWS after a retirement seminar. The full rack of ribs was delicious. It was served with cole slaw and french fries. The coffee was fresh and service was good. It was a Monday evening, the room was a bit cool, but not noisy at all. We could hold a conversation at our table easily, unlike some other restaurants. I cant comment on the price, as it was provided at no cost. Plenty of parking, and easy to find.
Beer flat and lines need to be cleaned. Pizza dough/crust not fully cooked, wings cold. Service poor at best, immature and more interested in socializing with each other than serving. Never checked on meal or beer. I tried to like the place, it is close and was much better at one point. No more after this third go at giving second chance.
I brought my lady here for her birthday on a Saturday evening. We waited at the door and when nobody came to greet us we just wandered in where we stood for a couple minutes before we were even acknowledged, and told you can sit there when they are done cleaning the table. Prompt waiter but no wine or beer lists. 1 out of 5 so far. The saving grace was the food. Excellent!! You need to do better at being attentive to your customers.
I’m not sure where to start with this review... our experience at Paws restaurant was memorable for sure, but not in a good way. When my husband and I arrived at the restaurant we were not greeted by a hostess. We stood in the doorway awkwardly wondering if someone was going to come over and show us to a table or if we should seat ourselves. After finally being shown our table, we were greeted by our server Scout, whom we would only see again to bring us our food and later our check. For the duration of the meal, not once did he ask if we needed anything else, how we were enjoying our food, offered to refill drinks, or even came to clear our stack of dishes. Unfortunately, poor service was not the bane of our experience. The food was completely dreadful. My husbands steak was bland and chewy, the asparagus was undercooked and inedible. My dish, the stuffed eggplant, was rubbery and greasy. Any flavor it might have had was completely overpowered by the taste of fry oil that desperately needed to be changed out. I took two bites and couldn’t stomach anymore... Thank god the rolls were half way decent because that’s all I got to eat tonight. Our dinner also came with a hefty price tag.... $96. For two people!! Please if you are reading this.... save yourself the money and disappointment and go literally anywhere else. Shame on you Paws, you ruined our date night!!
Yeah so this place is officially no longer on the happy hour rotation as of today. As other recent reviews have said, the service is horrible. We were the only two in here and it’s clear why now, it’s no longer a place anyone wants to go to; it likely only is crowded during wedding season. As we sat at the bar and tried to enjoy a drink, a gaggle of brahs (employees and off-the-clock employees) sat at a booth and compared their p**is sizes and how many chicks they’ve been with and the two bartenders didn’t even care; actually they perpetuated it.I know Aurora is pretty slim on happy hours, but it’s better to stay home than even walk in here.
Have been a regular here since they opened, absent only a few years in the mid of that range. The management and the staff are always very prompt and attentive, and food averages very good to excellent. Highly recommend Paws, and its formal dining side, the Leopard. If there is ever anything not to ones liking, simply talk to management and they make it 150% right. As someone who was witnessed this for almost two decades, I can highly recommend both casual and formal dining at the Bertram to everyone. And the 4-6 happy hour in Paws provides for a brilliant selection of adult beverages at incredibly reasonable prices. it is truly a win/win for the customer.
Would rate a zero if I could . Ordered takeout and all of the items were completely wrong . We got someone else’s meals . Came back up to the restaurant and they had our order and missed another item. Food was poor quality and definitely not worth the money . Sushi unappetizing and staff not taking their jobs seriously .
The lady behind the bar with brunet hair was very rude. My friend and I went to order food to go and she was nasty when we were asking questions. When I came back to pick up my food she demanded that I went to get my friend so she could pay for her food. I told her she was in the hallway however I’ll pay for mines. Then again she demanded that I go get her to pay. I informed her if you worried about an individual not paying maybe u should collect the money when the order mad.
We enjoy coming here for the Sushi bar on Wednesday evening for BOGO sushi. On average two people without alcohol can get out of there for $35.00 with tip. They have an elegant dining room that can be a bit noisy. The bar is beautiful with drinks moving quickly and orders for food also. Ken is the man behind the Sushi bar. He works incredibly hard and puts out sushi likes nobodys business. Quality is as expected for BOGO and selection. But, good nevertheless.
We tried to call them for 30 minutes to place a carry out order. Neither The Bertram, PAWS or the Leopard would answer their phone. We tried to order through DoorDash and they confirmed our order in minutes. They were here in a timely manner but without half of our $155.00 order. They said it was PAWs fault but they would have them call us. They haven’t. We’ve tried to call PAWs but they continue not to answer. This is our last visit to PAWs and we will never use DoorDash again. We’re very disappointed.
I recently ate dinner here and a family member had called ahead to find out if they can accommodate gluten free requests. we were told that was no problem and they have a gluten free menu. i asked our server at dinner and she told me that they did not have one and there wasnt anything gluten free. a few minutes later she comes back with one and says she didnt know about it. some items on the supposedly gluten free menu gave me pause, as they did not sound gluten free (asian black beans, couscous). I asked her and she didnt know, so I asked to speak to someone else. He assured me they were gluten free. I asked to speak to the chef because I still had doubts. He went back and asked for me, and my intuition was correct, the items listed on a gluten free menu were in fact not gluten free. the chef had no understanding that soy sauce contains gluten or that couscous is made from semolina wheat. this is really unsafe for people with a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease. they should not have printed a gluten free menu if they do not even know what gluten is.to try to remedy the situation, the server didnt charge us for my and my husbands meals. it was a nice gesture considering the situation, but it doesnt really make up for their ignorance and i would never feel safe to eat there again.
I had called and made reservations for my wifes birthday for June 8th at 11:30 pm and they said fine dining and wine and the whole nine yards when we got there they said the kitchen was closed and just bar was open its a fake Web site it just a bar in a hotel! I drove 45 minutes because we live in Akron! Im pissed my wife birthday was ruined after we got all dressed up to come! Fake ass place false advertising!
STAY AWAY. Went in for 2 drinks before a wedding last weekend. The bill was $16.80 (paid cash tip), got a call (thank God we used it and not our debit card) our credit card company called a little bit after the wedding saying there was a charge for $1,680.00. I mean come on. Not saying it was intentional, but either way, STAY AWAY.

2022-05-16I am a very understanding individual, and I’ve worked in the food industry with understaffing. But this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. To start, my fish sandwich still had the skin on it so I gave it back but was offered nothing to replace it. My wife’s $20+ chicken salad was romaine lettuce from the grocery store with a wad of chicken placed on top (uncut). I could’ve made this at home for $3. Another person had cold potatoes and broccoli. Some people got their dinners 20-30 minutes before others and the first ones to eat were those who got the grilled cheese. Why in the world would you cook that first when you know it’s the easiest thing to make? We as the guests ended up being the ones to fill everyone’s water back up, otherwise I’d still be waiting to have it refilled. There was only one waitress to cover the bar, food, and it was for an 85th birthday party for around 20-25 people (we were the only ones there). If you couldn’t handle the party size, you shouldn’t have accepted to host; and that’s a management problem.Very disappointed in a place where they charge you an arm and a leg to just eat there. This is the definition of ripping people off. You’re supposed to eat what you pay for and I would’ve rather gone down the street to McDonalds and paid them the prices I was being charged. It’s a shame such a nice place doesn’t live up to the expectations of the pricing on their menu. I will never come back to this place and I hope others think twice before deciding to open their wallets and eat here.

2021-12-29I have been to Paws during Happy Hour not once or twice but many times. That is proof of the fact that I love this place. Any restaurant that makes me go again and again has a couple of things going besides being a very convenient location. One is service and the the other, of course, is the quality of food. In the service area, I havent seen a better person than Mitch. He makes an exceptional old fashioned but I have also had gin and tonic as well as scotch. He has a very pleasant personality Also hard working and pays good attention to any customer needing help. I admire him since he is also a student at other times. In the food area, I love the brussel sprouts and the calamari but I cannot leave without the sushi rolls and the sashimi.Hopefully the managers read this review.

2018-05-24Waiter was very inexperienced, food was cold and not to discription, steaks were over and under cooked, dessert, well they took one piece and destroyed it and tried to pass it off as two pieces, another piece was large and one was a sliver, really? Horrible, however, manager was accommodating, expensive for what you get

2020-10-30This was our first time eating from Paws. We ordered the clam bake with chicken to go. It came with two sides and a dessert. Everything was hot, fresh, and packaged appropriately. The clam chowder was good but the portion was smaller than I expected. The chicken and clams were very good. I normally do not order dessert but this was a mini lava style Bundt cake with some kind of caramel topping and it was delicious. Overall the quality of food was good and fit the price.

2020-10-22Paws it’s just one of those great little restaurants in Aurora that really has excellent food, excellent service, and excellent sushi.Recently we went in there around 7:30. And even though the restaurant closes at eight, The server waited on us and took very good care of us. I think by the time we left it was around 10 o’clock because we just had a great meal and we ran into some very special people who took time out to talk to us and is a known local celebrity who frequent the place but I won’t say who he was to preserve his ability to dine at this restaurant and avoid the paparazzi‘s.You never know who you’ll see at the restaurant but enjoy the camaraderie of the servers and sushi chef!If you haven’t been to paws in Aurora you really need to get there soon the food and service is absolutely outstanding all the time.

2021-05-13The best sushi!!! Anything from the sushi bar is always top-notch.Loses a star for takeaway orders. Whenever we order fries to go its always a toss up whether the plastic of the to-go box will be melted by the time we get home. Sure this means the order is HOT but I dont want my food sitting on melted plastic by the time Im able to eat it, thanks. Theyve tried to rectify this by putting the fries on thin wax paper but sometimes the box still melts and warps. The size of the fry order also seems to be inconsistent. Theyre tasty though, so we keep ordering.

2020-01-30My wife and I have been visiting paws for both dinner and just casual drinks since 2013. Every experience is excellent and the staff takes a real interest in getting to know the regular customers. My daughter is now old enough that she comes with us to visit the sushi bar and absolutely loves it. In my opinion Ken prepares the best sushi in Cleveland, superior to wasabi or any other Japanese restaurant. Not bad for a hotel bar. Thank you Kelly!
