The Good: This is the ABSOLUTE best breakfast spot in Oxford. French toast is excellent, and if you dont tray anything else from here, get a large orange juice...Ive never tasted any better. The Bad: ...its not open later for folks to enjoy this fantastic place...The Ugly: It is a little pricey...but so worth it...
Always a great experience! Pattersons has great food from breakfast to dinners items. I have had a variety and is always good with large portion sizes. Last time I got the triple decker hand and turkey BLT club. Wow! A huge sandwich that was fabulous (see picture).Nice wait staff that are friendly and attentive too.
Was really looking forward to a good breakfast. Looked up the place, read good reviews, and then went there this morning. The Eggs Benedict looked super in the menu. I ordered it. Third bite into the first egg I had a shell. Bummer. Thought Id soldier thru it. Next bite was more shell. Enough shell to have me picking them out of my teeth for five minutes. Waiter was good, took back plate, said he could replace. I said, lets make it simple, without eggs. A Belgium waffle. Waffle was good. And I still paid for the waffle. Guess if I was more irate or vocal, I could have done more. Just sad that a place with this good of a reputation fizzled on my first and last experience there.
So heres a Patterson review, if youre the kind of person that likes breakfast out, you know the usual Fair Bob Evans etc youre going to love pattersons, creative menu decent prices great beverage choices overall good experience staff friendly even with post covid lack of employees and my wife loves the place I even hate to say that I found a couple dishes that I like I just dont have a liking for going to breakfast out but go Pattersons go its a must stop in Oxford and its got great food
I was shocked at the rudeness and disorganization. My family drove 3 hours to come visit me and I regret taking them to Pattersons. They quoted us 30 minutes for a wait, then when that 30 minutes was up, added 15 more minutes to it. My mother is diabetic. I watched people walk out and other people be sat before us. Then when we finally got called up, there was an empty booth right next to the table they were sitting us at. I know my mother and my old grandfather would prefer a soft booth, so I ask if its available instead of the table. The manager instantly gets an attitude with me and says, THIS is where Im putting you. Then, as we were trying to enjoy our meal, an incredibly loud group of students came in and were screaming and laughing at the top of their lungs the entire time we were trying to eat. We waited 15 minutes for any staff to notice or care that these students were being disruptive, but no one said anything despite everyone around us being uncomfortable with the screaming. When we finally spoke to the manager, she spoke to them, but then had to come back with an attitude with us and say, THATS all that needed done. And walked off. No apology. No understanding. Just getting rude with us because we said something about the screaming. And guess what? It didnt stop them from screaming. We left right away when they wouldnt stop screaming and we knew no one would do anything about it. So much for spending any time talking to my family or my grandfather being able to hear us. I know that no one can control who comes in and is loud, but management was inexcusably rude and hostile. Avoid this place if you want to spend time with visiting family.
I was dropping my daughter off to stay with her friend and her friends family. The gate was closed and the big gray headed guy had an attitude. I kind of gave him one back and explained why I was there. He said the gate was closed by 5pm and my daughter would have to walk and I said ok. I had no idea until way later that evening that the gate was closed for trick or treating and they didnt want any cars driving. The guy at the gate never explained that. That was my first experience ever being there and I doubt Ill be back.
Stopped in for breakfast ordered the breakfast bowl and a fresh squeezed orange juice and that juice brought back nostalgic memories from when I would spend my summers in Mexico as a kid. Will definitely be coming back. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would.
When you go to a college town you always look for a local place to find the best food. Dont go any further than Pattersons. They have a fantastic menu with a great selection. The breakfast here is phenomenal and the service is outstanding. Everything is cooked to order.
Terrible! I ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich, all I got was a hot turkey and cheese sandwich with powdered sugar on top, not deep fried, no raspberry jelly on the side. This shouldnt even be listed on the menu as a Monte Cristo! I ate it as I was with some else treating me to lunch, I didnt want to make a fuss but our server knew that I wasnt happy. I asked for Hazelnut coffee, got a cup of coffee with Hazelnut syrup in it, couldnt drink it, was replaced with regular coffee. I probably wont be back.
We tried to go there for brunch as we have a couple times month with my service dog EVERYTIME and first were told by the owner Im not going to do this. Confused Iooked at her and she said the dog. I showed her my dogs service tags and she said you have to sit in the back with her on the floor and they better behave or youre out of here. This woman was the owner. First she refused us service, illegal. Then she was so rude I didnt want to give her our business. She should brush up on ADA laws and how they affect service dogs. Also, she should knows that just because she cant see someones disability doesnt mean they dont have one.
Usually love getting Patterson and usually before a long day at work. But this morning I tried to place a carry out this morning before I went to work and couldnt cause they werent taking carry outs cause they were to busy at this time. This doesnt happen anywhere else. The person on the phone didnt have to be rude about it either. Not happy this morning. Going somewhere else for breakfast for a while.
This is the best place to get breakfast in Oxford. The atmosphere is a great warm Irish breakfast bar, which is very inviting. The food is some amazing, and they serve both breakfast and lunch making it a place to get both breakfast and lunch. The place is so good that it always becomes crowded, which is the only issue that I have when going there. Other than that I would definitely recommend going here.
Finally got to come here when their bar was open. The wait was a bit longer than expected, but its a college town and this place is within walking distance. Their drinks are amazing! No mix out of a giant plastic bottle for a dime a dozen. Their bloody marys were made with a mix, but it was small batch and so worth the money. Their mimosas were made with a healthy portion of not the cheapest of cheap champagne, and their fresh squeezed OJ. The food was delicious and came out super fast! They were so crowded so I was expecting my food to take a while...but I was wrong! It came out very quick. Ill definitely be back, but Ill probably wait till school isnt in session...I dont like to wait!
This is an experience you dont want to miss ! The food is delicious and fresh, including the freshly squeezed orange juice, so good ! They are only open for breakfast and lunch, so get there in the beginning of the day.. They have delicious lobster bisque soup too in a cup or a bowl affordably priced, goes great with a salad ! They used to have awesome freshly baked muffins but they discontinued them, lets all beg for them back !! Not only were they delicious, but they would make croutons with them for the salads, so good ❣️ Enjoy...
Top quality breakfast and service. I was honestly surprised to see that such a small town like Oxford can have such a good breakfast place. Dont miss their pancakes. I lived in Oxford, OH for four years between 2015 and 2019. This was the first restaurant I went to when I moved to Oxford. I made sure this was also the last restaurant I went to before leaving Ohio.
Good food and a lot of it. We went there for breakfast with my family. Everybody loved their food. My son made the mistake of asking for an extra pancake. They are a size of a dinner plate. It was okey because we all can try them and they were great. I had the Benny omelet. The service was great and the place is clean.
I havent been to Oxford before, so I tried Pattersons just by chance. The eggs benedict deserve the half a page of menu dedicated to them. I got sausage gravy for the potatoes and it was the best darn gravy Ive ever had. We also had a breakfast burrito and it was very good.
Very nice hotchocolate. Came in alone requesting a table for one and got seated at the bar. Service was good, but food came out cold and cheese from my three cheese omelet had solidified. Okay pancakes, got the oreos and cream ones. But I loved how I could see the manager walking around and getting involved. Hopefully next time I can get my food hot.
I don’t typically leave reviews, but I feel a responsibility to correct the misleading high-stars of this place.Firstly, the food was atrocious and was served cold. I’m not sure what they did to their “home fries” but I’ve never tasted a potato so horrendous and flavorless. It was as though they soaked it in lukewarm, mildewed bath water and then served it.A menu this long and meandering should have been a clear signal that they specialize in nothing and excel in nothing in favor of attempting to (poorly) accommodate every possible whimsy. Want lobster on your eggs Benedict, leagues from the closest ocean? No problem! Rubbery scrambled eggs? You got it!On the upside the service was prompt and friendly and I walked away feeling bad for the waiters in the place, who make their living peddling supremely sub-par breakfast food to what must be crowds of folks who simply don’t have tastebuds.
I’ve been coming here for years, it’s really only one of a few brunch spots in town. The food is okay, served in generous portions. It gets really busy so come early. The wait staff is pleasant. Read the menu carefully though, they will nickel and dime you for every single thing. I’ve spent more than I intended many times because the waiters will give you choices without mentioning the cost. And before you know it, you’ve spent $4.5 on half a cup of frozen fruit (it’s $1.50 for each type and not all together like the menu makes it look) and an extra $4 switching your ham to four pieces of chicken. Yeah, I’ve learned my lesson by now.
The restaurant looks small from the outside. I was surprised to be shown to a table in a room that I could not see from the door. It is a newer building that was nice and hopping with customers when we were there. It was Sunday so breakfast was offered all day. The Lunch menu had a lot of choices on it like soups, salads, burgers, wraps, chicken. The service was good and we had several people come by and check on us. Yes, I will visit again.
They have good food. Unfortunately, they pick and choose when you can put in a take-out order or not. Ive called 3 times in the last month and each time been given a different reason why I couldnt put in a take out order. Once, they were closing early, second time they didnt provide an explanation, and third time, they were too busy for take-out orders. They need a disclaimer on their website and on the menu, that take-out orders are a luxury and not a normal business practice for them.
Great place to grab brunch after a night of drinking, or simply a great place to eat if your parents are in town. Prices are fairly reasonable and there is a decent drinks menu. A Bloody Mary and a breakfast quesadilla is the quintessential brunch meal for a hungover Sunday morning. Expect very long wait times after 10 am in upwards of 2 hours. Anything earlier is pretty much a 15 minute or less wait.
The food is amazing!! Ive only had a small part of the menu (literally just pancakes) but based on what Ive tried and others opinions, the food is well made. One complaint is that the wait line is so long, though I understand its hard to control that. Another complaint is that since the building is so small, its very noisy and it can be hard for me to hear other people at my table.
Great menu selection. Not the typical chain restaurant foods. If youre a picky eater there are plenty of choices for you too. Everything Ive had has been delicious. Plan to wait a bit if you show up on Sunday between 10a.m. to 1:00p.m. as this restaurant is very popular. Its definitely worth the wait! There are a few outdoor tables also.
Very poor service. Waitress apparently forgot to put our order in to the kitchen. Patrons that were seated 15-20 minutes after us were served ahead of us. Two salads and a BLT/soup combo took nearly 50 minutes...inexcusable. When food did arrive, one order was wrong. Waitress rarely came by our table...would have been nice to have drinks refilled while we waited and while we ate. Other servers brought our check and cleared our dishes when it became apparent that we were not pleased with the service.
This is a wonderful establishment, though rather busy in the mornings and slightly pricey. Pro tip: both of these issues can be avoided if you go early in the morning. There will be increased availability in terms of seating, and they do an early bird special where many of the items on the menu have an extremely reduced price.
A great breakfast/lunch choice for Oxford. I miss the old days when they used to serve dinner here.Sizable portions, whether you go with a salad, pancakes, quesadillas, or practically anything else. It’s pretty easy to get a seat on weekday mornings, but good luck on Saturdays and Sundays, as you will be competing with the college crowd to get in. Reservations would be nice, but I understand why it’s easier for them to keep things as they are.Freshly squeezed orange juice is always good. Coffee is just ok. I wish they would brew and serve coffee roasted three blocks away at Oxford Coffee Company, instead of getting it from out of town. Maybe someday!I highly recommend the pub salad. It’s a well made meal-sized salad. I often end up taking half of it home! Got the barbecued quesadilla and was disappointed with the amount of oil at the bottom of my plate when my meal was done.
This is the most popular breakfast spot in Oxford, but I think its overrated. The coffee is horrible. They do offer a premium flavored coffee (e.g. Highland Grog), but not a premium coffee without flavorings. The omelettes are good, but they dont include any sides so the presentation is plain. For a traditional breakfast Bob Evans is just as good, the coffee is slightly better, and its less expensive. Pattersons does have more upscale options (vegetarian, etc).
A college-town brunch spot with value to match. I had a steak and egg bagel, which was good, but didnt blow me away. The pancakes with peanut butter chips were simple, but nothing to write home about. Youll often see a crowd of college students here after a late night out.
Pattersons is a great breakfast, lunch and brunch place. Get there early though because on the weekends the line is out the door. They make their own fresh squeezed orange juice at the breakfast bar. Anything on the breakfast menu is made fresh and served quickly. The pancakes are light and fresh. If you are in the mood for lunch-their barbeque quesadilla is a delicious combination of chicken and bbq and big enough to split. You cannot go wrong with a visit to this campus gem!
Definitely an Oxford Gem. The Prices are Fair and the Menu is Substantial for a Place that is a Breakfast/Lunch Only Restaurant. From traditional American Foods to the Awesome Items with an Irish Flair and lest I forget the Great Drink Options with a Full Bar, this a Spot Enjoyed by Locals, Students and Visitors alike and I recommend Everyone Visit when in the Oxford Area.
Food was good, a little slower then usual but still very good. Waiting staff was very friendly and polite. Food wasnt as good as expected..bad with his employees, no insitive to stay there my son worked here three years and he treated him terribly, worse place he has worked in Oxford and he has worked all over uptown. DONT GET A JOB with this company
Called to place a carry out order and was told they were too busy. They need to change their website that they only do take out orders at their convenience. Im not giving their food a bad review just the fact that their website is misleading when it comes to wanting to place a take out order.
After a week of phlegmy chest and tired legs, I went there with a friend, and we sat on the bar stools, and when the food was served, its fragrance and its golden color, beneath the glow of lights, made me feel better, and we talked and laughed, as the tiny snowflakes outside adorned an invisible dancing princess.

2022-03-15I had the shrimp fatty and was extremely disappointed based on how tasteless it was. I had to request salsa and sour cream to add some kind of flavor. Paid 19 bucks for a shrimp burrito and a glass of Orange juice. My friend was more than pleased with his plate full of carbs and sugar...

2022-02-12A perfectly okay to get breakfast. They use frozen potatoes for their home fries and hash browns. Really? I can loan my Cuisinart if they can’t use a knife to cut up real potatoes. Poached eggs are nice! Very nicely cooked. Weak diner coffee.

2021-08-10Stopped for breakfast and was really pleased. The orange juice was fresh squeezed. I got an omelet with cheesy home fries with veggies. The veggies were peppers and onions and was far better then I thought it would be.

2022-06-19Great lunch experience. Friendly service, nice setting and not too far from Miami University campus. Sara was our waitress and she set us up with an excellent meal. The pecan pancakes and my wifes salad were fantastic.

2022-04-01Very disappointed with Pattersons. The food we ordered was laden with oil. Scrambled eggs were rubbery, the omelet with bacon had diced up canadian bacon (not what was ordered), the toast was soaked in butter and kitchen is NOT allergy friendly. We were told by our very kind server that they would not prepare french toast in a skillet rather than on the griddle where they prepare pancakes with nuts and peanut butter chips. In addition, if you are going to top off a customers coffee, you should bring the coffee carafe to the table, not take the cup behind the counter to top it off. If you remove the cup from the table, you should bring a fresh one!We recommend you skip this overpriced restaurant and find another spot to eat.
