Papa Gyros in other cities:
The signature gyro was yum, but the baked potatoes were really meh... i expected better... and I had ordered the Limone Chiken or something b4 the gyro and the chicken was like chewing gum.. I feel it could have been a one time thing? But it definitely was surprising hearing the reviews and all? The Tzatziki sauce was too good!
Overall, the food was average. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich combo. The chicken breast was very small and did not fill out the bun. So the latter half of my sandwich I was just biting into bread. What made that even more disappointing was that the bun was one of those kind you get at the grocery store, pack of 8 for 99 cents. The fries were comparable to what youd get at a diner and lacked salt. My husband got a gyro. It was pretty average tasting. But it was huge. I would probably give this place another shot, though, and try something else.
HUGE Gyros!! Tasty salad and fries were fries. Didnt give 5 stars only because we paid $3.50 for fries and got like 1/4 of a basket worth and was hardly any fries but I pay $8.50 for a gyro and get mounds of MEAT. Come on, potatoes dont cost that much. Offer bigger portions with that and Id say this is a 5 star place! Great service, atmosphere and food 👍
The food was great, we had the Grecian salad and the Gryo Pizza. The pizza was the daily special for $5 ($3.50 savings) and it was a real deal. This was my first time at this location, and the food was great quality, just like their other locations. Im glad there is one closer to me, and I recommend it.
I was actually really surprised by this place. Seeing from the street, I thought it was more of a fast food style restaurant but its actually very nice inside. I only ordered take-out so I really cant give any opinion on the service but the food was definitely delicious. If youre in the area, I would suggest giving them a try.
Very good experience. I ordered takeout and it was ready quickly; I believe it was about 7 minutes. There were several others coming and going, but I wouldnt say they were slammed by any means. I ordered the Authentic Gyro Supreme which was delicious. The tzatziki sauce and gyro meet was flavorful, and there was a decent amount of everything in the gyro. It was a large portion overall, and I had a little bit of gyro meet falling out as I ate it, so bring your appetite. I also had the small Grecian Salad which was good and was also large enough to split between two people if you only want a small side salad each. For one person it would be a hearty portion. This is now my favorite place to get a gyro in the area.
Love , love this place. I recently started coming here I love Papa gyro in Canton as well. But the service is great and the food is always delicious. This is a nice comfortable atmosphere. The setting and vibe is so comfortable its a nice first date, out with mom , or girlfriend , alone time ,or a nice place for you and your significant other to relax and have great drinks and delicious food Enjoy.
Have been wanting to give this place a try since we saw it opened, wish we would have come in sooner! The food was delicious! I had the Cajun Gyro and it was the best gyro Ive had. The pita was crispy and soft, the meat was tender and flavorful and the tzatziki was delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Will be back!
Id heard good things about Papa Gyros so I gave it a try. The staff and service were great. I ordered a traditional gyro. It was loaded with meat but it was very salty, too salty for my taste. Most people will probably be fine with that. I prefer less meat and more tomatoes and lettuce. The tzaziki sauce is delicious and so is the rice pudding. I will definitely go back and try something different on the menu.
First off the Gyros are amazing but the wrap is so small everything falls out.The major complaint is the service. They have 4 waitresses and only two people in here. The only time they came over was to bring us food and to bring us the check. They seem super inexperienced as well.I’ll come back because of the food but hopefully they take care of the service.
Great welcoming service. I wish the employee knew their menu a bit better instead of asking me questions about it. As a second-comer I know nothing lol. Rice was AWESOME. Side salad was good. Lamb chops were a big disappointment. I said I wanted them medium-well. Two lamb chops were very very red and had some blood. Not what I asked for! The other one was well done, dry and tough. They also tasted as if they weren’t seasoned whatsoever. I had a friend try them and she said the same. I had to cook the 2 pink ones for about 10-15m on low heat when I got home. Despite that I’m still open to giving them another their shot.
Akron, West market location. We ordered the Olympian platter. The fries were undercooked, luke warm, and bitter tasting, the gyro meat did not seem to be cooked all the way also or warmed. The server suggested rice. The rice was mush!I requested a discount for these items. The Manager was rude, and nasty. No apologies. Instead stated we were the only ones complaining. I will not return. Rude management. Food not worth the$. Do not recommend 😐
I ordered dessert through UberEATS on 3/31/20 (baklava cheesecake, almond blossom, kataifi, and rice pudding). The cheesecake wasn’t bad, the rest tasted old so I threw it all outside. I knew the raccoons would eat it. When I was rinsing out the pudding container, the expiration date said 3/25! Gross. I’m afraid to ever order there again!
Been a regular there, always great. Tonight the gyro meat could pass for gyro jerky, salad rice and pita ok. Was going to take the gyro meat home, but I dont have a dog, so figured let them throw it away. The server tried her best to make it ok but I figured just a bad night in the kitchen, I will go back. Went in tonight gyro was great, thanks for hearing me. Also you can tell the manager who was going to send me a 10.00 gift card a while back to just keep it. You have me back, thanks again.
Avoid this place like COVID 19! Their baklava is months old and tastes like the inside of an old refrigerator! When I called in and spoke to the manager about this she said, Im too busy. I cant help you. Then hung up on me.I can clearly see why this place is about to go under. The level of professionalism is some of the worst Ive ever seen. The worst part about this is the people that are in management roles to help in cases like this simply dont care.
Ordered my first time through Grubhub pick up and I had a good experience. Food was ready when I arrived. Also, I was greeted by all staff which is nice. I ordered a side Greek salad which was good and portioned perfectly. I also had a philly gyro sandwich. It’s a regular gyro but with a Philly cheesesteak twist to it...AMAZING! I’ll be back as a regular customer if they keep it up.
Wide ranging menu of Greek classics and Greek inspired items. Love the Pastitso! Recommend asking for the gyro meat to be cut a little thicker than usual, the thin stuff they routinely cut dries out to easily. They offer take-out, Grub Hub delivery, as well as dine in. Beer, wine, cocktails. Desserts!
This location seems to be cursed. There have been several different restaurant options coming and going in this spot. This is the most recent incarnation, Papa Gyro. It feels like counter service and the food is counter service quality, but its table service with a full bar. The gyros were ok, nothing special, but the lemon potatoes were good. Very large portions for the gyro but not great quality.
Wow that went downhill fast. My husband and I live a few streets over and have been eating here 2-3 times a month since they opened. After tonight’s experience, I am truly hurt and offended with the way my family was treated by general manager, Lynn. I ordered steak souvlaki, it came out well done when I ordered it medium rare. I had taken pita bread from my husbands plate for my hummus (he doesn’t eat pita). When the server came back, I told him about my steak. He took my entire plate including the pita I took from my husband. The server comes back and says to me, “She checked it and it was well done so she is making more.”Thinking to myself hmmm... that was pretty condescending did they not believe me that it was over cooked? They bring it back without the extra pita I had on my husbands plate added. The check comes and they charged for extra pita bread. When I tried to ask them to take it off I was told, “well it was served so we can’t take it off”Yeah it was served because you took my whole plate when you incorrectly cooked my meal!Anyway.. myself, my husband, and two children waited 20 minutes to get our change. We were treated as if we were criminals. I asked to speak to the manager about the experience. She came out and immediately had an attitude. I was never offered an apology for the over cooked meal or having to wait 20 minutes for my food while the rest of my family ate, I was never offered an apology for the condescending service, and I was never offered an apology for the issue with them overcharging me. Lynn was defensive and rude. Her excuse was that she she as the only one doing the kitchen and the front even though I counted at least 3 other employees working. I have honestly never in my life been treated so horribly by restaurant staff.I am so disgusted and honestly heartbroken that we have been loyal customers for months and months and this is what our business means to the general manager. Absolutely awful.
I’ll preface this by saying this is a new location. They have a lot of kinks to work out.We arrived at 5:45 PM and were seated promptly. There were only 5 sets of couples, plus us, with 2 servers. Our waiter took our drink order right away. My husband finished his within 5 minutes. We sat there for 15 minutes before the waiter came back over to take an order. We ordered an appetizer- the feta bruschetta. He ran off without asking us if we were ready to order our main meals, and he did not refill my husbands drink.Another 10 minutes pass, and I see that our feta bruschetta is sitting under the heat lamp. I watch for another 5 as our waiter rings out people at the cash register, runs out to the patio a couple of times, then finally grabs our appetizer.30 minutes into the visit - he sets our appetizer down, it is noticeably over cooked and burnt. He says he’ll be back in a minute to get our main order - still does not get my husband a refill.Skip ahead: 45 minutes into the visit, we finally put in our main order. At this point I have to ask the server to get a refill for my husband. On the upside our mains only took about 10 minutes to come out. When we get our food most of the order is incorrect.- My lamb skewer I wanted medium rare. It came out well done.-My shrimp skewer I wanted with Cajun seasoning. It came out plain.-My husbands steak skewer he wanted medium. It came out well done.-My husband asked for two whole pitas on the side - they forgot both originally, then brought only one.-I asked for rice pudding. Originally the waiter told me to remind him to bring it out, instead of writing it down on the order. Of course, he forgot to bring it.-The shaved lamb itself was dry.At this point, we were both so frustrated at the service, and the food quality, we asked to see the manager. Calmly explained to them we did not want a refund, although they graciously gave us 20% off the meal. We explained to them that we understood they were a new location, and had some things to work out. The manager was cordial and understanding, reiterating that it was still no excuse for the service we got.Hopefully, they will find their footing, as this is one of our favorite franchises, and we were so glad when this one opened up so close to home. Until then, we’ll be sticking to the Green location on Massillon Rd.
They managed to ruin a chicken pita. Chicken was dry, cold and chewy and cooked long before I ordered it. Disgusting!Update: Now, I just called the location to speak to the manager and she acted defensive and said that they did cook the chicken to order and yelled at me, questioning if I was blatantly calling her a lier because I found it hard to believe that chicken would be so dry if they just cooked it. She didn’t apologize and just said that I could come down there and “watch her cook it if that would make me happy”. It would make me happy if the chicken was edible in the first place. Then I said that I was never coming back and she said good and hung up.
Staff pleasant, seated promptly, Server appeared quickly. Ordered Pastitso ala carte&Grecian Salad w/Chicken. Pastitso was very dry,not much meat in it. Salad lacked any healthy greens, only a bagged head lettuce mix with red cabbage&carrots. Chicken was very good,as was the freshness of the feta, cucumbers&kalamata olives. Pita bread was good. I will try other items on my next visit
Friendly reception. Took a wee bit longer than 10 minutes (more like 20) to get take out food. To be fair 6 people walked in ahead of me, and I think I only saw one cook. I took advantage of grand opening chicken sovlaki meal and a mixed grill chicken and pork dinner. Happy to see Greek desserts in showcase.Well try it again inside the restaurant. Thought the mixed grill should be less, in my opinion. Dinners should include hummus 😏
The food taste great .but the piece of chicken that was on my plate had a piece of wood still stuck in it. because they cook there food on a skewer one of the workers told me. But it’s not a good thing to bite in your food an chow down on wood so double check you food if you decide to go there.
This was the second time at Papa Gyros and the food and service was amazing like the first time. First we started out with the feta bruschetta which was so light and fresh. The pita is so light, and the bruschetta with feta cheese was a perfect appetizer. For dinner I ordered the Souvlaki surf and turf with steak. I was worried it wouldn’t be enough and I would have to order a steak skewer, but I was wrong. The entree came with a salad which was extremely fresh with their house dressing. The steak and shrimp was cooked perfect and their rice is so delicious! The star of the dish was definitely their tzatziki sauce! I left with not only a full stomach but an appreciation for Greek style cuisine! Only thing I would knock the restaurant is, they only serve beer. Would love a nice glass of red wine to go with my dinner. Hopefully they are able to serve wine soon! Until then... Cheers fam!
Highly disappointed. Ordered the lamb dinner but unfortunately I was not a fan of the sauce they used. I asked to just get another lamb dish and was told that I couldn’t because $16.89 is soo expensive and I can not be offered anything else. I wasn’t given any type of discount or anything. This was my first time trying this sadly i won’t be back.
First off I ordered the emperor pita supposed to come with gyro meat and lamb. I was skeptical so I asked the waitress and she confirmed this was true. I got it and there was no gyro meat. The lamb was burnt, and they put the lamb on last so it was falling out of the pita and the tomatoes and lettuce filled the thing. Are waitress was working every table so it took her 20 mins to make it back to us but by that time I ate me two skewers worth of lamb. And we had to get back on the road. Idk whos to blame but I wont be going back!
Stopped by during their soft open period, ordered gyros and lamb souvlaki. Gyros were somewhat typical, well made but not distinctive; I would suggest moving beyond the everyday items and into the heart of the menu, which offers lamb shanks, a variety of souvlaki and many more items that will please the adventurous palate. The lamb souvlaki we received was well marinated and cooked exactly to order. My only beef was that when ordering a $12-$15 platter, you get one pita; You get a large to huge pile of gyros meat to go with one pita. Extras are $1. OK, Im done whining now. I would return to this location in the future.
Akron, Ohio-Wallhaven store staff is very rude to you when they mess up your food even when you bring the food back. They talk about you in your face. I call corporate and the call fixing my food the owner says by the way your calling me and mean mugged me like he was gone jump on me all because I wasn’t satisfied with what I was served last night and I called last night and talked with lady manager and she acted the same way as him. I will be giving this article to eye Kandy radio. That man made me feel very scared to ever come back in there

2022-01-07A very nice and fast gyro restaurant. I came for lunch during work but I was very surprised they have a full bar. The food is what to expect at a Greek restaurant. Lots of lamb, gyros, veggie options etc. the staff was friendly.

2022-01-08Always an Amazing experience whenever Ive dropped in for a tasty meal! I recently enjoyed the online ordering experience, and pick-up. It was great. There was a snag in an ingredient in one of my items. I reached out and it was taken care of in the BEST of ways. Very kind, and very accountable. Its pretty tough on industries at this time, and to be honest it was tough, long before present circumstances. BUT theyve done very well with all that in mind! Big THANK YOU to the Entire staff!

2021-06-241st time. Did the classic gyro. First 4 bites were dry meat. There was very little sauce and no lettuce, tiny slice off one tomato… had a slight fish flavor. Meh. Wife had Chicken gyro… meh. Waitress at counter was very nice. Very empty place. Our first and last time here.

2020-07-26Everything tasted great, service was great, great value on the Gyro, fry size was disappointing.I stopped here for a quick bite to eat and was promptly greeted and seated. My server was patient and unobtrusive and when she returned made certain I was aware of the daily special which I ordered. Everything was freshly prepared and ready in under 10 minutes, my only disappointment was in the size of the order of fries as I expected more for the $3+ an order of fries cost. I will return if I feeling the mood for a gyro, just probably wont order the fries again.

2021-03-03Corner building attached to strip mall on corner street. Lots of parking available. Handicap parking and entrance accessible. Staff friendly. Server was fantastic and friendly. Atmosphere nice. Menu offered a lot to choose from. We had the Greek potatoes. Not many pieces for the price. Taste was just alright, 2 of 5 stars. Lamb meat pitas was delicious, cucumber sauce could use a little more flavor and pizazz. However, would give it 4 of 5 stars. Lamb chops with rice and salad was delicious, 4 of 5 stars. Would give 5 stars if rice was cooked in homemade stock instead, it was ok but not great. Tried a dark Greek beer as well as the light Greek beer. Tasty but most likely would not order again. We would definitely be back to try other items from the menu. I do recommend others to try it here. Bon appetit everyone and Godspeed!

2018-05-31EXCELLENT!!Expected nothing but the best and I got just that. Super happy this location was open and I didnt have to go to the Green location from Akron. I was craving gyros and they pleased my appetite. Not only that night but the night day for lunch at work as well. My gf and I shared the Large Grecian and then we both had our own gyros. I had everything on the side because I like to make mini gyros 😊. My 1st job was working at the Papa Gyros on cleveland Ave before any of the other locations the OG. Worked there for 3 1/2 years and still the quality and big A** gyros are the same. I like that and thats what keeps the long time customers coming back. Congrats on the 5th location this one is I believe...I feel The Land may be next, but time will tell.

2022-03-10If you want an excellent stuffed to the max gyro - go to Papa Gyros. You wont be disappointed.
