This location has American Girl Dolls for sale and they are priced higher than the Actual American Girl Store. I bought my daughters these dolls from the Actual American Doll store in Easton and they cost 60 dollars each. Once upon a child has the nerve to be selling them for 75 dollars! Wow, really! This store is NUTS! Who in their right mind would spend 75 dollars on a used item when they can go to the Actual Store and purchase a Brand New One for much less. I will never return to this store ever again in life!
I live 30 miles away from this location. I called before I left to ask if they were accepting strollers. The lady on the phone asked another associate to clarify if they were. She answered yes, and they closed at 8pm that day. I hung up and was on my way. Nearly AN HOUR after I called I had my stroller there. It had some wear from being taken in and out of the car on the footpad but nothing major. While they were looking over the item I strolled through and picked up some pants that I was going to purchase myself while I waited. After about 5 minutes the associate told me they WERE NOT accepting strollers at the moment. I told her I had just called earlier and was told they were. I also mentioned I had drove a distance to get there, and would not have made the trip for nothing. She said they had had a lot of strollers that were brought in that day. I replied with, Within the last hour?? She looked off to the side saw another customer and quickly dodged the conversation. I put the items back I meant to purchase and left. I WILL NEVER RETURN! If it was a matter of the condition of the item they could have at least been truthful instead of lying. A BIG WASTE OF TIME AND GAS! I called their DM that day and am still waiting for a callback. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE ONLY CROOKS AND LIARS!
East Main LOCATION is ridiculously overly priced for the crap they want to sell but when we want to sell them our good quality items that are washed, cleaned, folded and barely used they pick through everything like its nasty, keep a handful and give you less for what theyre going to sell for. I dont understand. Plus, they dont even put your unwanted items back like you brought them. Ive walked the store and keep looking at dirty nasty strollers, clothes with koolade stains and dirty shoes. Everything I bought in was in TARGET condition to sell. Im sure Target wouldve took their clothes back with a receipt. Pissed me off. Horrible
They have ok prices but the Store/general manger is racist! I came in to sell my daughters bassinet which is in excellent condition considering the fact that she never slepted in it. It was a struggle to get the bassinet in and out of my car along with the tote of boy cloths that I somehow fit inside my small car. The store/general manger hardly looked the cloths that I bought and turned away my bassinet because the sheet had a stain on it. I asked if I could just take sheet off and she stated that the store does not accept any bedding or bassinets without a sheet but if I bring in the bassinet with a different sheet they would give me $20 for it. I put everything back into my small car just to come in the next week and ask another employee if this was truly their policy because I didn’t see a sheet on any of the beds or bassinets and she stated that a sheet is not require and she didn’t understand why she would tell me that. So to my fellow minority’s please be very aware that the store/general manger is in fact racist.
I go here about twice per year- fall and summer, for the last 3 years. I dont like to shop at thrift stores because of my fear of bringing a bug home (lice, bedbugs etc.) but I do occasionally buy from here because the store is clean. They hardly ever buy any of my things, and when they do, pay me next to nothing for them. Theyve taken a whole laundry basket full of toys and puzzles once, as I forgot that I had dropped it off with the laundry basket full of clothes and shoes that they went over when I came back to pick them up. That was mighty convenient for them... They usually say the items are well loved or not in style/season, but I strongly disagree, the clothes I bring in are in much better shape than most of what they sell. The other day I dropped off a basket with nothing but jeans, fall boots, snow boots, coats, hoodies and a few long sleeve shirts. Among the things they didnt buy was one very cute girl coat, pink with brown polka dots. They said it was well loved; turns out the top button (on the collar) was missing. I understood and went home with the items I purchased while waiting, bigger sized coats! When I got home, I found out that they left an ink-security thing on my daughters new coat, and, what do I see, the button on the collar is missing! I will be returning the coat later today.. Such a hassle to shop here. I really do think that they only buy from friends, or at least are much more strict with non-friends.
Brought in a basket with almost brand new items and some shoes. They took 2 pairs of rain boots and threw my clothes back in my basket. Said they were all well worn when in fact I know they werent. My daughter literally wore everything once. It was horrible. I know the process and how everything is suppose to look. It was definitely a smack in the faceI will start taking my stuff back to the gahanna location.
Ive bought and sold here & at their other locations. I too have brought in a large amount of stuff with either a small amount chosen or nothing bought at all. You have to hit them at the right time to get a decent return. The most I have gotten paid was $50 but its all about timing. They do get large amounts of items coming in. If you go here often enough theres hardly a day that goes by where they dont have tons of items coming in trying to be sold to them. And just like any second hand store you have to look thru stuff to find the best quality items. Hate to say it but area some times dictates quality. I like going to this chain of stores because kids grow so fast & I hate to spend big money on clothes & toys that will only be used for a short period of time. I can get more stuff here for the same amount of money buying stuff on clearance @ Kohls. I strongly recommend all Once Upon a Child locations to any new moms. Save your money and buy second hand. Your kids gets more expensive as they get older.
The one star is only because I have to give a star to post. This store is unreal, two days back to back... first day they said to take then home and wash them they smell like smoke. (We dont smoke, so idk how that is.) But I just went home and washed and dried them anyways and brought them back today, to get told the same thing? When they literally went from the washer, to the deyer, straight to the box...so no clue how they smell . And some of the outfits were still on hangers with tags on them from Macys NEVER BEEN WORN! The staff is always rude, and quite frankly, I doubt Ill ever go back. Theyre unfair, and rude, and they like to rip people off anyways.
Last time I went to once upon a child I had a huge tote of clothes that I had washed stuck in the tote and put a lid on. The girl at the counter proceeded to say as loud as she could without yelling as soon as I walked in the door, these clothes have a smell to them you need to rewash them and make outfits out of the different tops and bottoms for us to look at. I explained to her I just washed them two days before and the tops and bottoms were all bought seperate that the outfits were already together. She then said next time dont put a lid on it then.... Such terrible customer service! She could have waited until I got to the counter to speak with me. And half the stuff in there is dirty and dingy yet half the time they will say that clothes I brought in were to worn when theyve been worn once!! I would rather give my stuff away for free, and because of that behavior you have not only lost me as a customer but 7 of my friends and family members too.
The staff, well, one employee particular was very rude. I came in to sell my daughters swing that shed outgrown and before I was even greeted, even to the counter... the employee yells across to the entrance and says WE DONT TAKE THOSE! YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE! I was shocked that her behavior was accepted by the other employees. I really cant stand bad customer service and she definitely had great display of it.
One employee in particular was extremely rude and I am very disappointed with her behavior. I brought a few things to sell, one of which being a stroller. I brought it in folded up and she proceeded to yell at me saying WE NEED THAT UNFOLDED!! When I unfolded it she grabbed it from me harshly and moved it over. She handed me a ticket and told me to hurry up and put it on my basket. She then yelled at me again and told me it would be a while before she got to my items. REALLY unimpressed with her customer service skills.... Wont be returning
I am Furious, I brought in clothes & a walker my son cant use, I cleaned everything, brought it in, a little over a hour there, they said they cant take it because of how much clothes they have, I told them, I called you guys on the phone, and yes we can take them, then a lady says after they have stains on them, I feel like they stereotyping me, because I was outside talking to brother while I was waiting, went back in to look around, I saw they just got the basket of clothes and then I got a message saying they were done. Hey just because I am a man, I would like to get my child clothes, I love my son, it was a waste of my time.
I went in at 12:04 on a Sunday. They open at 12. There were 7 employees behind the counter. They wouldnt do any instore buys, 4 minutes after they opened. The store was trashed. There was stuff all over the floor, clothes hanging off hangers, toys everywhere. Trash cans overflowing. Literally worst location Ive been too.
The store has a nice selection but the prices are high. I think the prices at this store are higher than the prices at the other OUAC in the area. Also, when you shop as much as I do, you learn which brands come from where and Ive noticed I can often buy new on sale for less than this store sells it for used. I really dont get the high prices. I think they would move a lot more if the prices were lowered a bit.
Its not half bad to shop here but getting moneyfor things you turn in is rediculus i brought in a brand new 35$ slide and they offered 4:50 for it yet they were going to sell it for 15 um no thats bullcrap i also vrought in a bunch of things bbefore like some new clothes and a 50$ carseat canopy and a really nice bassenet and all i got for it was about 25$ and i brought in more than just that and they claimed tge clothes were stained but they were brand new never worn ive seen then selling clothes that werent even in that good of a condition but the new clothes werent good enough? Its a wast of time trying to sell thingd to them im better off selling it online
I had bad experience they stole my boxes and they did not pay me what I deserve be careful don’t sign a receipt before getting estimates exception when they will tell you come back to get your money because we don’t have time to check on it now listen to me guys if you did not like a price and y signed a receipt your done they are for stilling not for business
Will never sell a thing to this location took some toys into sell That I know 100% worked had batteries and the ladies stole my batteries out of my toys and passed on them pretty damn petty if you ask me assistant manager was nice when I called but the ladies that work their act like they’re better then everyone Every time I went there but I find it pretty funny they stole my batteries lmao wow

2022-07-04Dropped in here while staying in the area. Found some goodies for our newest baby. Everyone was very friendly and the prices were fair. Well organized. Not really any toys which is different than most OUACs which wasn’t a big deal for me but worth noting in case you are bringing kiddos to look.Biggest score was a Tekhni woven wrap for $15!

2022-07-10The place is a RIP-off and I wont be taking any more items there. I took 18 pieces of like-new clothing and they offered me $8.45. That wasnt worth it and Id much rather give the items away. Its terrible that I wasnt even paid $1.00 per item. It was my first and last time selling items to this business!

2021-08-17Found decent looking clothing for my daughter. Although after shopping at this store I had a return, which the manager would not refund because I wanted to keep one piece of the outfit. I would think I would get a partial refund, but she suggested to sell the item for .80 cents. Makes no sense, this place is not customer friendly and has terrible store policies. The manager smiles in your face and doesn’t help make the situation better. I hope she goes to work for someone else because she’s awful at her job. I donated my clothing to the goodwill for free because I knew selling wouldn’t be worth it.

2021-06-05I generally do not purchase new clothing for my kids because they grow out of the clothes so quickly. They have hand me downs, gifts or I buy used. In my experience, thrift stores generally do not have a great selection and I am not a fan of buying on Facebook because I prefer being able to browse several items to see, and feel the clothing to assess the condition. I also don’t love having to go to a persons’ house or meet them somewhere. I trade in for store credit and just flip the wardrobe at a low investment. I have definitely seen some poorly priced items, but generally you are paying about 30-50% below new pricing, which seems fair to me. I have also seen some things in poor condition which is why I like being able to evaluate the item I am buying. That can happen buying from a private seller and then you have already invested the time it takes to go get the item.I purchased a shirt and removed the tag. I then noticed it had a stain and took it back the next day. The store had no proof that I didn’t stain it but they accepted the item back without an issue. I was very thankful. I have always had good service at all of the stores and I have bought and sold at every location in Columbus.Last thing, I noticed, when reading reviews, complaints about the store not paying enough or not wanting people’s great items. What do people believe is fair to sell their items for? It is a business, not a non profit organization. They need to make profit. The store sells a onesie for a dollar. Seems fair to me that they would purchase it for 25 cents. Best way to quickly get rid of a large quantity of clothing, instead of selling by the piece online, IMO.

2021-04-14Clothes are always great but this is the 2nd time I’ve bought something from here that was broken over the last few years and they won’t do a return. Recently on 4/11/21 I bought a infant swing. Got it home and washed it up, didn’t start using it until a couple days later and come to find out the seat is broken and doesn’t lock into place. So when my daughter uses it the seat literally moves all around. I called today on 4/14 to ask about returning it and they apparently don’t have any returns on this kind of item even though it didn’t have an “as is” tag on it. I paid $60 not including the tax for this item. They said the best they could do was “buy it back from me” I live 40 minuets away and anyone that shops here knows they buy stuff dirt cheap from you. So I wouldn’t even be close to making my 60$ back. Highly disappointed and won’t be returning, I’ll be letting all my friends and family know as well to avoid buying anything other than clothes from once upon a child stores. Im out $60 and have to go spend more money to buy another one.

2021-01-13As a buyer, I have always felt they were extremely overpriced- used t-shirts for $4? HOW??!! But I thought maybe its because they give sellers good money for their items. WRONG! I sold to them for the first time last weeks 2 overflowing bins of toys in perfect condition, and shoes as well as a larger toy (29 items)- they gave me $40. The way they price things, they will make at LEAST 5-10x that when they sell them. Such a joke... I will never sell to them again.

2021-03-16Will NEVER sell to this place again!!! You’ll bring in a bin full of clothes that are brand new with tags still on them or used in perfect condition same with shoes and they’ll offer you $12 you’ll be thinking like each pair of shoes that’s in there cost more than that how did you come up with that number... You’re better off selling on Facebook market and not to mention how high priced they’ll turn around and sell your clothes for that little bit of money they buying them off you for and folks that shop there minds well buy them brand new clothes at the children’s place it’s the same price... please

2019-11-26I went through the entire process to be offered $3.80 for two totes full of clothes and shoes. Shoes have never been worn. I was told they are not accepting anything under 24 months or younger. I asked why they didnt mention that to me yesterday when I was dropping off nothing but infant and 12 month and under clothes? They told me I could have called in advance and asked..... I said I was standing in the store handing you the clothes. You didnt say anything then... complete waste of time. The $3.80 they were offering me was for 10 never worn separate items. I took everything back. Id rather give it away for free to someone who needs it. What truly disappoints me about the whole thing is I had the clothes laid out all organized nice and flat and they were returned to me mostly balled up stuffed back in the tote. Thanks a bunch.

2020-08-04Biggest scam out there. Brought in 96 items, freshly laundered and folded very neatly. A majority I bought at this location not even a year ago. Included shoes that had never been worn, pajama sets, hoodies, sweaters, a boys OSU jersey. The store purchased 16 of my items for $18 and returned my baskets a complete mess. I will not be returning to this location, I hear the Gahanna and Westerville are better.

2019-02-21They have a large selection of cute clothes.Found all I needed in this location. And their prices are not bad. However there were a lot of stained items and or other noticeable signs of wear. I showed the items to someone at the desk and they seemed annoyed. I assumed they would want to take the items off the shelf...I will shop here again , but I recommend checking the items you buy over carefully and check the zippers and buttons!
