I love this place SO much. Its my favorite place to eat downtown because the food is incredible. I always get extra rice to take home because its just delicious and my kids love it. I almost always get the kufta kabob platter, which comes with rice and a greek salad. Its the perfect meal. I also love the turkish coffee, chicken shawarma, shish kabobs, and the baklava.
Very friendly staff, spotless dining room and bathrooms, with a separate waiting area for carry out orders. Food has always been fresh and VERY tasty. The various wraps are generous in size, those with a side always fill me up and then some. The platters are big with a nice variety!
I like to eat Mediterranean cuisine and I liked the food in this restaurant. We tried lamb shank, shish kebabs, chicken shwarma and falafels. Lamb shank was really good, tender, juicy and flavorful. Everything was properly cooked and flavored. Staff was also very kind. I would love to visit this place again to try some new food.
Left this place about an hour ago. I love it. I really do. This was my first time here. I apologize one of my pictures I started demolishing some of the food before taking the picture. Lol... It was real nice and clean. The music was semi mix. They played their traditional music and light rap music. The rap was not rough nor filled with cursing. Despite the building being green I think its great for it to be so. VERY EASY TO SPOT!!! Stands out from everything around it.I ordered the Lamb Shank Platter which came with rice, lamb, a salad, and pita bread. It was simply amazing. The lamb was really tender. I also ordered Hummus and three Baklawas. The atmosphere was nice and laid back. I will be back very soon!!! You have my business. OH YEAH!!! They deliver too depending on your location with a minimum order of $30.UPDATE 06/21/2019 Visit:So I have not been to Olive Mediterranean Grill in a while. Especially since they relocated. Well my husband and I took a trip to their new location. I must say they are located at a very perfect high traffic spot. I hate the issue with parking. We parked a block back and paid the meter. The weather was nice, so the walk wasnt terrible and it was nice to take that walk with my husband. The new location is much bigger than the old one. I love how things are set up. You can see the cooks make your food, take a seat and dine in and watch tv in the process, or order your food to go and wait in the waiting area where you will be comfortable with a tv. A few flat screen tvs, clean restroom, clean establishment, friendly staff, convenient location, and very spacious. The food was amazing! My husband had the Gyro and potatoes, and I had the Lamb Shank with rice hummus pitta bread grilled chicken and a cake. Not a whole cake. My husband and I shared half. Now my husband had water and I had a sweet tea. The only thing I disliked was the tea. I wish they wouldve informed me that its plain tea and I have to add sugar. Even after adding sugar it was not sweet. However, everything taste great! My husband was full but I was still hungry. Lol... We will be back again soon. Congrats on the move. Many blessings.
Nice little middle eastern food restaurant. Staff is very friendly and helpful explaining the items on the menu. Food is great too, very flavorful. Dont expect them to wait on your table though. Once your food is served you are in charge of refilling your drink and asking for a box if needed, not that thats a bad thing at all.
This was my first time eating here. The lintel bean soup was awesome but what really made this experience was the warm bread that went with the soup. Lightly salted pieces of crisp bread that were still talking about nearly a week later. I also had a gyro. The meat was better than most I had before. However again the topping that comes with the gyro is the best I have ever had in my life. This really felt like I was at a good friends home where grandma had made everything with her most precious recipes.Being down town Dayton Ohio this place should be pinned in your phone as one of the best places to eat downtown.
I only got a picture of the pita and hummus but it was amazing! So delicious! My husband and I split that and a wrap with french fries. But I was too full to eat the fries! It was a lot of food! I would highly recommend this place! We thought we ordered a gyro but apparently not because it came as a wrap. Oh well maybe next time well figure it out.
When I first found this on Google maps I did not know what to think of this place. When went there and the was no one. There was a little boy there and I have kids so they had a great time playing around in the restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was super speedy. One drink I would recommend is the mango aloe drink. Is had little chunks of aloe in it and it is just perfection. Great restaurant. Thank you!
Amazing experience. The lady who too my order was enthusiastic about the food! She walked me through all the options and gave great advice on what to order. The food was spectacular. Each bite had flavor.the entire staff was wonderful. I love Mediterranean food. But this was by the best I’ve had.
We stopped here travelling through and wanting a healthy meal. It was an excellent choice. Friendly staff, delicious food, and large portions. We had chicken schwarma, greek salad, shish kebab, gyro, and baba ganoush. The pita bread was soft and warm, like freshly baked bread! So, so, so good. I wish it was closer to home.
This site is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. Whenever I feel like having a special dinner, this place comes straight to my head. splendid and food and a rich cuisine.well mannered team, and nice mood. And very important, the price is modest. I tell about this place with great pleasure.
What a fantastic experience we had at Olive yesterday. We have been here a few times but this is the first time we are writing a review. The staff is incredibly friendly, thoughtful and helpful in answering questions and making any requested changes. We had falafel, hummus and shawarma and everything was really, really delicious. You could taste all of the ingredients everything was so fresh, the spices were blended perfectly and all was cooked to perfection. We have been to many Mediterranean restaurants in the area and this by far the best and most authentic tasting you will find. Thanks for another great meal Olive!
This is curse-word good. So good. Can’t wait to be back! The tzatiki sauce is very fattening like made with sour cream and ranch packets. I was hoping for a lighter more traditional sauce. Everything else was awesome. I got salmon and lamb platter plus hummus and yeah it was awesome. Can’t wait to order again.
We love it. We ordered from their website which was very easy and picked it up at the restaurant. We are usually ordering for 7 ish and there has never been a problem just pulling up out front and running in. Weve ordered pretty much everything off the menu at this point and its all been great. I am a huge tzatziki fan and on the gyros they put it on the side. There is more than enough for one gyro so lots left for the falafel on the side. So good.
The chicken shawarma is to die for!!! I ordered extra sauce per my coworkers recommendation and goodness Im glad I did. I could probably drink a bottle of the sauce by itself. Its been a long time since Ive felt this much glee over a dish! Price is very reasonable as well! Definitely order through Olive, you wont be disappointed!
Menu for the gyro confusing on the website , two different prices and the gyro was bland & taste less .Apparently despite one area states gyro comes with gyro meat, lettuce, tomatoes sauce and onion on a pita , it comes plain and you have to pay for each ingredient separately. The soup however was delicious 😋.
My mother, her great friend, my aunt and I had a lovely time at Olive Mediterranean Grill yesterday afternoon ... our fare, including Chicken Shawarma, Gyros, Greek Salad and Greek potatoes, was DELICIOUS, the environment was CLEAN and COMFORTABLE and Tarana was AWESOME as our welcoming host!!THANK YOU SO WONDERFULLY for such a GREAT experience and we WILL be returning soon!! #GRATITUDEandJOY
My family ate at Olive for the first time tonight and we were very impressed! The food was absolutely stellar. Everyone in my family thoroughly enjoyed their meal.I like Mediterranean food and am constantly trying out new restaurants. Olive is now at the top of my list along with Lavash in Columbus. We live north of Dayton so it is nice that we will have an excellent option much closer to home.We will definitely be frequenting Olive much more in the future. I highly recommend trying Olive out if you enjoy Mediterranean food. The service and everyone else working at the restaurant were also very friendly.
Speaking as a person who has never liked hummus, theirs was delicious! The grape leaves were very good, the rice was delicate and tasty...but the lamb shank, amazing! This is a great place for lunch or dinner. The service was just right too, attentive, but not overbearing. Im coming back!
Fabulous! Have eaten here several times in the last few weeks. This is my new favorite Mediterranean restaurant. The food is great and the portions more than generous. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The last time we visited, our server even let my daughter (who is learning Arabic) practice on him. We will be frequent visitors.
This food is amazing. The only difficult thing about this restaurant is parking, but I say throw some quarters or a credit card in a meter and eat here! Everything Ive tried here is rich in flavor and the portions are perfect. Great Gyro, Shawarma (not sure thats spelled right) and the steak wrap is killer.
While out prospecting for sales l came across the restaurant. The owner was so nice and personable I decided to give it a try that night. Got the shwarma plate to go , enjoyed my meal very much , very tasty, fresh and delicious. Even the pita bread was soft and warm. Will definitely eat there again next time in town.
This restaurant moves from its current location to downtown in July, so say signs on the walls. If we lived here (we live in Wisconsin), wed follow them to their new place. The menu options are small in number but varied and interesting. Our lentil soup, grilled vegetables, and salmon were tasty. Service was good. Don’t be fooled by the exterior. This food was AMAZING. They told us They are moving to a new location in downtown Dayton in May or June. So be sure to look them up there. I know I will.
This place is AMAZING!!! The food is PHENOMENAL!!! We had the lamb shank plate as well as the platter of various types of meat. Plus we had the Boss Bossa for dessert. The taste just was delectable. And the Chef (who was also our server) was extremely nice and well versed with his menu...I wish that I could give this place a 10 star rating 😊
My favorite part was the amazing freshness of the food. My Greek salad was outstanding, the hummus was wonderful, and there Turkish coffee was delicious.Great food but unfortunately, my first choices werent available because yesterday was busy and they havent received new supplies. Kinda disappointing. There are no windows in the dining area which is weird. Next time, Ill probably get food to go and hopefully the falafel will be available; Im looking forward to it!
I sent my friends to this place with my warmest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. This recommendation is always successful. The dishes they serve are fantastic and the stuff is welcoming and cooperative. always when we go to this place we have a pleasant time. I warmly recommend this restaurant.
One of our favorite Dayton area restaurants and easily the best Mediterranean food we have found here! Location is no frills but clean and modern, and the food is fantastic. Dont bother with restaurants at The Greene when you can get better food for more reasonable prices here.
Tried Olive for the first time ever on Fathers Day. After reading several reviews and seeing the business was not extremely busy, decided to try. The appearance (decor, dining layout) was a bit less than I would expect however the food and service far outweighed my opinion on the initial thought. I had a Gyro sandwich, which was absolutely delicious, and perfectly flavorful. Wife had Gyro platter and was impressed with portion and flavor of everything. My daughter being 8 is probably not one to judge Mediterranean flavor as it can be a bit on the strong side, however Fred made her a salad perfectly like she wanted with Gyro meat on side. She sat and made her own sandwiches with fixings from the salad and Gyro meat on the fresh served grilled pita bread. Very fairly priced as well. The 3 of us could pay just as much at a semi mediocre restaurant. Outstanding Job! We will be back...
Everything we had was flavorful and well prepared with fresh ingredients. The hummus better than any Ive had in the States. The sides we had were great (Greek potatoes and Greek salad). The gyro was on par with the best weve had. The steak in my shish kebab sandwich was perfectly cooked and full of flavor.Best Mediterranean and middle eastern food in Dayton and possibly one of the best meals in the area. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was mediocre, but who cares with food this good.
We went on a Saturday and were the only ones there from 5:30-6:30. 1 person had takeout in that timespan but thats it. At first they had Mediterranean music playing in the dining area but it stopped after 30 minutes and then we had to listen to rap music blasting from the kitchen the rest of the time (not good with 3 small children). Food was good. I had the gyro platter which was decent but Ive had better. The feta rolls were a great appetizer. Mens restroom was not clean.
The server is extremely charming, attentive, and knowledgeable. Everyone was very nice and open to explaining any menu or culture questions. The food was beyond perfect. It was served with a nice look, hot, and seasoned wonderfully. The menu was very descriptive as well. We will be regulars.
Food is authentic Mediterranean..... a rarity in America, for sure. Who doesnt love hookah, good music, and a light show on the ceiling with delicious and filling food? The brothers working in the restaurant were professional and courteous as well. An excellent dining experience.
My wife and I were visiting Dayton Ohio and we were in the mood for Mediterranean food. I found this place on Yelp and we decided to try it. We went there and they were very courteous and informative as to what the menu had for us that we may like. We ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the feta rolls and they were delicious. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to try some Mediterranean food.
“Great food, folks, and fun!”I held the name of this place in my mind for years, curious about their best burger rep. Finally went and had one, and...it was good...not bring me to my knees great, but satisfying and certainly priced right. The much bigger surprise was the wings...my now favorite wings anywhere...which is saying something! These are what classic buffalo wings were meant..
I visited Olive with my friend. While the area is not the best, this place is superb! Our waiter was excellent; very knowledgeable and an overall joy to be around. Prices were very decent and portions were large. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. I didnt leave a single bit of food on my plate. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area!
A good Mediterranean place. There is a good variety of decent food, with prices ranging around $10. Not the best Mediterranean food Ive had, but definitely would go back if Im in the area. I would have loved if there was more of an a la carte menu option, rather than meal prices on large amounts of these items. If you are looking for a quick Mediterranean meal I would recommend this place. It is definitely within walking distance of the Schuster Center if you are coming to or from a show.
I visit this superb restaurant once a month since I like the special air that is part of this restaurant. The team is highly attentive and skilfull. The service is awfully efficient. Most important, the food they serve is perfect. I ate there often and I was always happy. The rate is reasobable. I highly suggest this restaurant to all my friends.
This place is the bomb. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap with tzatziki, small order of hummus with pita, and an order of greek potatoes. Everything was amazing and the portions are very, very generous. The wrap is the size of a very large burrito with spiced chicken and amazing flavors inside. The small order of hummus and warm pita slices felt more like a large order and is the best hummus Ive had in a long time. And the Greek potatoes....guys, try them. They are amazing. The side order is a very generous size. Overall, very delicious food, fair pricing and you can order from them through Doordash. Highly recommend.
Such delicious well prepared affordable food. Run by two brothers who call themselves Palestinians - the food is prepared with love- and cant be beat anywhere around. Try the kufta- for a delicious tasty twist on hamburger that you wont forget. The lamb shank platter covers the plate- and is tender and moist. One of Daytons best hidden gems. Since their move downtown- less formal, you order at the counter- take a number.
The great American food adventure. Im sure youll enjoy your experience also, I loved every moment. The food is a taste of Heavenly things, so delicious and prepared to perfection. My new favorite family restaurant. Enjoyed the music gave us a sense of being teleported to a far off land. Did I say we loved it 5☆×mc £
Hands down the best Mediterranean food in Dayton. The menu is reasonably priced, and the restaurant does offer delivery to a limited area. My personal favorites are the vegeterian platter, chicken shawarma, shrimp, and potatoes. Your order will take time to arrive at your table after ordering because each item is prepared fresh, however the wait is not unreasonable.
I am so happy to finally find a restaurant where I can get wonderful dolmades at any time. I no longer have to wait for the once a year Greek festival. My lunch bunch also likes their food. I highly recommend this place. You won’t have any trouble finding it on N. Dixie because it’s bright green.
Wow... The food here was incredible. We tried the Falafel platter, the Shwarma plater, Shish Tawook platter, and the Mix Grill (featuring items from the Gyro, Shish Tawook, and the kufta kabob platters) plus desert. Not one item that we tried was bad, the service was wonderful and the food came out in a very timely manner. The price was reasonable and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Olive has the best food and the most warming staff. Since day one when me and my friend decided to try this place we were greated happily by the owner. The food is awesome and would be served to us in a timely fashion. My favorite thing there is their philly cheese steaks with Greek potatoes. I also really like their Babaganush! Me and my friends come here Several times a week to eat and the staff makes us feel at home. The food here always smells delicious I cant wait to try out the rest of the menu. Staff is great and the food is awesome!^__^
I met my friend here for a quick meeting. I already ate prior to meeting her there so i didnt order any food (my friends food didnt look appealing and she said it wasnt that good either) but one guy there told us while we were leaving they had a issue because she didnt tip enough and i didnt order anything. The way we were addressed im glad i spent my money somewhere else prior to going there.....just sad. Usually the waiter keeps their opinions to themselves but this guy was cocky that day lol
Excellent Lamb Shank, Greek Salad and the best Baba Ganouj ever. The building is not prime location or look..... ignore that fact....the food is some of the best especially for the price...and we travel worldwide! Two brothers own and run the place. All fresh, no canned food.
As soon as you get into this place you get greeted by the friendly staff who are willing to give you a great Mediteranean dining experience.Of course the food is always fresh and amazing and they are happy to make you a custom plate with any of your choice of meat for great price. My personal favorite is their mixed grill plate with any of your choice of meat or definitely try their hummus with shawarma chicken topping. They have great options for vegetareans too. Great place to dine with family and ill be going back!
Absolutely delicious! I was travelling through Dayton and a quick internet search of best restaurants landed me at Olive Mediterranean Grill. My wife is Lebanese and we cook quite a bit of middle eastern food at home so the bar is set pretty high with us. Olive Mediterranean Grill did not disappoint. The shish tawook was moist, the rice was subtly spiced, the baba ganoush was extra smoky, and the salad was delightfully fresh and crisp. Highly recommend.
Was 5 STARS a year ago and Ive not been here in a couple months and the owners wasnt here but Id come from the Racino area down here to eat. I walked in theres maybe 10 people in the place already seated and the employees seem to be busy so I grab a cup to get a drink while I wait, a couple guys came in behind me so I got my utensils and napkins, those 2 were ording because the boy working register knew I was there first but started taking their order. So I took my drink to a table & walked back up to the counter and 6 more people had walked in and I figured Id go wash my hands and then order, but when I asked if I could get the bathroom key the snotty little fuk working the register looked right at me in front of 8+ people & Asked are you going to buy anything. I said Well I was gonna get something to eat and to be honest about it I was the 1st person in line and you took their order 1st so I thought Id go to the bathroom since theres all these other people in front of me now, so I guess if you dont wanna serve me Ill pay for my drink and leave. Thats wt I did & after I paid for my drink & ask him his name because I knew the owners, he tried to hand me the bathroom key after he give me change from the $20 he mustve thought I didnt have. LMFAO Dont hold this against their food because its great if theyll serve you. BTW Ive got on jeans t-shirt tucked in & a beanie on my head because Im on the bike, I got a little dirt & oil on my hands thats it.937-423-9twotoo3 any questions1 year ago: The lamb shank was awesome as well as the entire meal was delicious and didnt cost me a lot. Will definitely be a return customer in the near future..
Well it was doable. I was craving falafel! Not homade it taste like box falafel (Mine is way better). No tabouleh salad very disappointed how if this is a Mediterranean restaurant. 😯 I will eat here when desperate but it wasnt what I am used to with other Mediterranean places. Nice service. Just disappointed.
I bought a Groupon $45 coupon...I planned on turning my girlfriend on to Greek food but I have to leave town early so I went in by myself preparing for a wonderful feast and giving a great review ( I grew up on Halsted St in Chicagos Greek Town , Athenas, Greek Islands etc) but only the owner brothers were the only ones there and refused to honor my coupon..I just moved here and was delighted to see a real Greek restaurant just down the street...I cannot believe they are in a position to turn down any business at all..so my dreams of Greek food are gone.

2022-08-20We stopped in here before an afternoon performance at the Schuster Center. So yummy and fresh! It was an easy walk there from the parking garage next to the Schuster. The food came out fast. We also ordered some hummus which was fantastic.

2022-04-01The ladies that work/own this restaurant...Women Rock! The food is pretty delicious! Right downtown Dayton. They have a lovely decor, good customer service and good presentation of food. One example for is the gyros. They are so good the meat melts in your mouth with flavor, hot and wanting more. Check them out!

2022-02-12We love it here. I often come here. So e of the best hummus in town and great falafel! Seems to be female run. And the ladies rock! Staff ia very patient and kind. P.s. pita chips are a somewhat hidden menu item and I highly suggest it :)

2022-05-17A new restaurant for me.I love Greek food, and this place hit the spot. I had the grilled shrimp with a salad and rice.Always have to try the hummus in a Greek restaurant, this one was great ,very creamy lemony and not too much garlic. The pitas were soft and warm, delish! The ladies behind the counter were very friendly. Casual atmosphere.

2022-07-15Wonderful food! The Greek potatoes are life-changing! Do yourself a favor and order those. We ordered the mixed grill and received ample portions. Everything was delicious - the rice, the salad, the pita, the tzatziki, and the meats. We will definitely be back!

2022-06-12My friend (an elderly well dressed gentleman) and I stopped there yesterday about 1after a downtown rally. As I got in line behind a couple, my friend headed towards the restroom. The woman behind the counter started screaming at him that restrooms were only for customers. Even though he replied we’d be buying lunch, she refused to give him the key until I ordered. Look, I understand the policy because of the location, but you have to exercise discretion. My friend is obviously elderly and was obviously not homeless. The woman behind the counter was definitely not friendly nor helpful. I asked if they had lemonade. She said yes, and gave me a bottle of a God awful drink called “lime”. I drank it only because I was extremely thirsty. I also ordered a gyro which turned out to be utterly and completely inedible. I ate the salad, and took home the gyro. After trying it at home, I threw it away. I am very tolerant of food, so throwing out something I purchased at a restaurant is highly unusual for me.I don’t think this restaurant will be there long, but even though, I’d recommend folks steer clear of it.

2022-07-02I’m very sad to write this review, the two lady works there are very nice and the restaurant was one of the cleanest restaurant I’ve been to. But the food was not good at all, I got two gyro wraps and plate of hummus and falafel. Nothing was taste good, actually sorry to say that it was very bad. I hope they fix this issue so I come back because the two ladies workin log there deserve all the best.

2022-05-02Literally the best tabbouleh Ive ever had. Ive only had their food a handful of times so far, but it has been excellent, fresh and tasty every time. Run, dont walk to get your mediterranean fixins here. You wont regret it! 😊
