Be prepared for a long wait!!!! I was there today. I waited one hour and 50 minutes. It was a very hot & humid day. I was very concerned for the elderly people waiting outside and one person had an oxygen tank. There has to be a better way. The employees are all very nice. But the wait is unacceptable.
Worst service as usual from a governmental agency. Tried calling several times to find out what docs I needed to bring. Every time I called put me on hold never came back on the line. Decided just to go there, of course line out the door, waited my turn patiently then the lady tells me I need an e-check. Answer your phone and answer my question.... Patheic.... Just imagine if Bernie Sanders gets elected... Everything will be run this way.... Pretty scary!
My experience was absolutely 5 star worthy! I had signed into the system in the morning, to get in line via the website. It was very easy and quick. I had commitments through the morning and early afternoon so I wasn’t sure how it would work when I was finally able to go renew my license. I am happy to say that it was just as effortless once I arrived. I responded to the automated text message that I was “here” and within a few short minutes I was prompted to go into the lobby. When I walked in, I was kindly greeted and given instructions to go to an available window. The girl who helped me was extremely friendly and professional. She also was very efficient. I can’t imagine that I was there for more of a total of 10 minutes. I was very impressed and would refer the Avon Lake BMV to all of my family and friends.
This place couldnt be any slower , the get in line system is a joke I used the get in line app. It had like 5 minutes , so naturally the wait was actually an hour and 45 minutes. I dealt with 2 employees one was pretty good the other one rude and useless. ( look sweetie pick a struggle you shouldnt be both ). If you have absolutely any other option take it. If not plan on 2 hours of runaround B.S.
The online check in provided at this location is terrible. An estimated wait time feature would be incredibly beneficial. If you have time constraints in your day, I recommend arriving early and checking in. Then you can leave and come back. I waited for nearly 3 hours.
In my opinion, it would be extremely helpful to have a triage person stationed near the door to helpfully explain (for real) what documents are needed for each type of transaction. We all know its a different story between the website and the location, and even some locations are different than others! It would be worth spending the money on that one employee who could make a difference between efficiency and frustration.
Waited about an hour and a half to get my sticker. Online check in is a bit confusing because each service has a different letter (so its hard to tell where youre at in line). An estimated wait time would be awesome. I would definitely recommend going online to order your tags.. I will be doing that in the future!
My experience there was the worst imagined...I went there at 12:00. PM..Did not get waited on until 3:30...There were no benches to sit down..The temperature was 93 degrees..Absolutely uncalled for, I am a senior citizen and many people of the same age group were in the same unfortunate situation...How unbelievable to treat people in this manner...I will continue to let people know what took place there....Shame on this establishment for not having benches inside..I will be reporting this to the proper person so possibly no one else will not succumb to this type of terrible, unorganized process of waiting 3 to 5 hrs..
Reluctant to give 5* for selfish reasons but this is by far the easiest BMV. Big parking lot, text message system, and even though I missed my ticket by 1 spot they had me taken care of within 10 min. Ppl were still complaining but overall impressed. It was more the ease then it was the speed
I went to their new building on Walker Road for a license renewal at 2 p.m. on a Wednesday. I had already gotten in line online on their website with a ticket number. They only allowed three people to wait inside the building, so I got checked in at the front and I had to wait around five minutes outside before I was called to wait inside. My ticket number was lower than the people who arrived before me so I was called ahead of them - I was pleasantly surprised it worked that way! The patrons and staff were wearing masks / shields, and the check-in staff member made sure I had the proper documents before having me wait in line. I was done and out of there by 2:20 p.m. Great service.
Been going to this agency for close to 15 years and they have always been very knowledgeable and helpful. While they have moved 3 times in that period, a good number of the staff remains the same and continues to offer great service. Rita was fantastic during my recent visit.
It was pretty good. When you go to the BMV, dont expect to walk in and get taken care of right away. You check in and they make you wait outside, so if its -15° dress warm! Best to wait in your car. The lady calling your number has a loud mouth. So turn your heat up. Roll your window down and listen for you r numb see e
You guys can’t just make people stand in the parking lot for hours when it’s 85 degrees for 2+ hours... understand you’re busy, but the customer processing rate time is unacceptable. I’m not sure why it takes 20 - 30 mins per person in there. There’s no instructions, no signs, no one to ask... the texting system wasn’t explained anywhere. Everyone just stands around out in the heat bewildered and confused. All could be totally avoided with a little signage and some communication.
I had a very positive experience here. There were quite a few people waiting when i got in but the line moved quickly. The staff were incredibly helpful. I had misunderstood a requirement on the website and the woman helping me was patient and worked with me until everything was resolved.
Was in this Friday, there was no air conditioning, and it was obviously busy. They worked diligently to get everyone through as fast as they could. I saw a lot of customers that didn’t have the correct documents to obtain what they needed so that is going to increase wait times. Advice: Go online and double check that you have all the necessary documents so the line moves faster for everyone. It’s not their fault, they have rules and guidelines they have to follow as a state agency. I had to get two tags renewed. I was at the counter for maybe five minutes because I had everything I needed put together. I don’t work for the BMV but just imagine dealing with the same situations and questions 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week. Just be patient, bring what you’re supposed to have, and things will move efficiently. More seating would be nice though.
Completely rude, unfriendly staff. Not just my own experience but also witnessed it happening to others. The 2 young girls just down right rude and sarcastic to the customers. And YES we are customers. They should be held responsible for not having good customer service.
The staff was great when I was here, and clearly trying to keep things moving. But it was packed and obviously had been for a long time. You cant expect them to rush all day, every day. (And you wouldnt want to risk the mistakes.) Its a tiny space. It seems pretty clear that they built this office expecting a certain amount of traffic, and then all the surrounding cities built a ton of developments. If youre in a hurry, its probably worth the drive to North Olmsted or Elyria.
The staff is friendly but the problem they have is this new ID!! They should have a separate line for plate renewal. There should be no way you have to sit there for hours for something so simple! I have been there 3 times and can’t get tags because I don’t have hours to sit there and wait for applications to be filled out or for marriage certificates to be correct. It’s common sense to organize lines for certain needs so customer service is great, business is expedited efficiently.
They do not do a good job of actually listening and giving correct information at the Avon location. I needed replacement license plates for my vehicle and after being in line for over 2 hrs I was told I had to have the title...not registration...title. I tried to ask was she sure since I was just getting replacements? She rushed me out saying I did not have all the necessary information. Next day I went to the Lorain and guess what....I only needed my proof of ID and plate # or vin...AND it took less than 45 minutes to get in and out! Avon branch may need a customer service rep refresher course or new deputy...we have no choice but to buy your product but I have a choice on which bureau I purchase from!
Their queuing system is infuriating. It seems they give priority to certain transactions which leads to a cycle of new people coming and jumping ahead. You can only hope for a lull so that you may by Gods grace be allowed to get a plate before you have to leave. - I also registered online at 8:15am, if 2 hours worth of people registered online in 15 minutes I stand corrected
Got there as they opened at 8:00 am, picked my number and sat for 50 minutes for tag renewal. When I got up to desk I was then told the sticker machine was down and had been since opening. My obvious question to the girl was why didnt anyone make a announcement for the people waiting on tag renewals instead of letting them sit there wasting their time? At least 4 other people stood up and walked out when I did. Good comeback on her part,They dont allow us to put signs up or anything and if you have a problem with that you may speak to my manager, she is sitting right there My response to this was, why would I even want to talk to her, she is the one in charge and should have made that announcement. I witnessed a sad but true example of our state tax dollars at work. Go anywhere else but this BMV, poor poor service.
Went there today, picked my number and got in line. I was there for 30 min only to find that they had no sense of urgency with the customers and all of the staff was too busy making small talk. They waited on the same 3 people for THIRTY minutes. And to top it off they had a little thing called customer revisits or whatever where random people came back from wherever they went and could cut everyone in line and be taken care of that minute?! What the hell is going on here
Check out the new Avon Lake, Ohio BMV location on the corner of Walker and 83. Much more room to move around and even has parking now!!Actually used the option where they told us to come back in an hour and 15 minutes. We came back and got in within a few minutes.Good job dealing with pandemic craziness.
Short line. They were quite handicapped accessible and very accommodating for my mother-in-law who has mobility issues. Nice staff. They answered my questions and were coureous and patient during both of my visits. Some visits to the BMV are like having teeth pulled and the government-paid staff is very begrudging, grumpy and rude. Not so with this staff. We visited on St. Pattys Day. They were playing some of my favorite Irish music and were very courteous and cheerful. They did not seem rushed and were not short with us. One of the best visits to a BMV Ive ever had.Update: 6/28/17Im here with my sister and the atmosphere is pleasant.
The staff does an outstanding job. They are always friendly and helpful. They do their best to answer your questions and provide you with the information you need if you don’t have it. You never feel like you are a bother to them. They take their time but work efficiently to get you in and out.
This BMV is the only one I go to! everyone there is so nice & its so organized. and their COVID-19 response efforts are fantastic! went to the elyria one first, saw how much of a chaotic mess it was, and immediately left to go to avon lake. they definitely are on top of it! 👍
The customer service representative named Traci who works at this location is the worst !!! She has no patience and will be rude to you. She enjoys arguing with customers. The BMV needs to hire better people because Traci is terrible. If you hate your job Traci, perhaps you should move on.
Every employee in this facility should loose their job. I’m sorry this is the worst BMV in Ohio. Fox 8 news or someone should do an investigation on this place. 2 employees spent over 5 minutes looking for an empty box then talked about for another 2 minutes.. horrible lazy employees.. get rid of them and let’s get some production out of this place. Have a great day and good luck zero stars

2022-06-29This BMV location does things differently than other locations, and I am not a fan.the interior feels cramped with not much waiting space. there are no rows of seating, so those waiting are forced to stand in a line. not many can fit into the space at a time.to add, on a sunny day they have no shades to block that light which makes the already agitating experience, less tolerable. having a good working window shade would decrease restlessness while waiting and make experience more pleasant.the process has changed from the standard take a ticket, to having to sign in on a touch screen kiosk and then get texts from mobile phone regarding your place in line.while some people might like this new way of doing things, I find it to be more complicated, for various reasons. for some, it is a nuisance to do this. some do not want to use a touch screen. others may have older mobile phone or cannot receive text messages. there is no alternative for these groups.when I go here, I witness people become confused over the new feature, causing more socializing and being in each others way while waiting in line. at times, when the text tells you to wait outside of the building, you lose place in line. this causes some people to hang out by the door or on the inside even when at full capacity. In my opinion, It would be better to go back to the old way of doing things, but society always has to change everything. I get that this change was implemented due to covid but I find the change to be counterproductive.also, there was a problem when I went to sign my name for my license, the device was unresponsive even after rebooting many times. I think that the devices are either outdated or were dirty. most likely both. they kept telling me to try again after they wiped the screen, but it worked even worse because the surface was wet. with whatever wipe was used. maybe a fast drying alcohol pad would have worked better.

2022-06-14Went online, did the whole get in line thing. Got the text message. Told them I was there. Got my number. Then left my house, went and had lunch, and right before my number was coming up, I went there and checked in and was called ten minutes later. Point being. Use the online function to lie that your waiting and go do stuff while your cellphone does the waiting for you.

2022-04-25Wow , the manager Bree is very unprofessional, gave me a very difficult time about everything, I was not happy with the picture and asked for a retake “ no you picture is fine no retakes ‘“ I walk out call another BMV , lady was super nice told me to go back in and have them void the transaction, they did , once again Bree ( the manager ) gives me a hard time and attitude. Most of the employees were tattooed,, outrageous colored hair and ripped jeans . The only person I had a positive interaction with was Rosie and she had to come help the manager ( why is she the manager)? STAY AWAY ! The employees in Elyria were friendly understanding and willing to accommodate. BREE GETS AN F IN MY BOOK ! Update! The response from the owner is apprecated , it is somewhat suspicious that i cant have a direct conversation with the owner. Im glad that employee morale is uplifted because of wearing ripped jeans and tattoos being shown. The main problem here is i am paying for a service and was unhappy with the service. Yes Thank You for the refund! The Attitude of Bree is what was unacceptable, every quetsion asked was responded with sighs and eye rolling . The documentataion was printed out by the employee but ONLY because she needed it to be printed out. I had other forms but those were unacceptable to her. She had me so upset because of her Snarky Attitude and lack of knowledge and profesionalism , I was literally shaking. Why is it when asked to speak with the owner this is not possible. Transparency is not something this business offers ?

2022-03-07I have visited this office two times, one for temporary tag and one for the plate. I have experienced very uncomfortable and unkind situation. The first lady was yelling at me when I did not understand what she was telling about. I said calm down but she kep yelling at me and treated me uncomfortable and unkind. They totally forget they are doing service job. They act like a police. I would definitely record them using my cam next time. Extra cautions are needed to a foreigners especially.Look at all the negative reviews and replies posted by the BMV. They have always excuses.

2022-01-22When I went here, I was on time. I was there 20 minutes before they closed, as I was going to check in and then a lady from behind the counter came out and hurried to put the closed sign on the Kiosk to check in. I was literally inside and about to check in and I had my 2 boys with me. Anyone with children already knows how much of a struggle it is with kids. I found her and the whole situation to be extremely rude and unprofessional. I was there 20 minutes before closing.

2022-03-08I stopped in around 4:30, close to the time they closed. I needed a new federal ID plus new license plates. Lynn took care of me in record time. She was not only friendly and helpful, she was amazingly efficient. I walked out of there in 20 minutes! I NEVER dreamed I would write a favorable review about a BMV visit.
