Octapharma Plasma in other cities:
I’ve been 4 times now and the fastest I’ve gotten out is in 2 hours, and that’s because I got there before they even opened. This is the first place I’ve donated plasma so I’m not sure if they’re all this slow, but plan on being here for several hours. 3+ hours for sure. Other than that, the staff is very kind- even to those who are difficult to deal with.
All of the workers are super friendly and respectful. After a few visits I was called by my name. I love that they are so personal with you. The only downside is that they are super busy so there is always a line at pre-screening and you dont get seated right away. Wifi and all the tvs help with that!!
The workers here are great, no hate to them, but the first time I went to donate blood, they messed up the poke and made my arm swell up horribly. they immediately apologized and gave me my money and let me go home, but since then my arm had bruised and turned red a large portion of my arm, they even told me its one of the worst theyve ever seen when I showed them 2 days laterAgain its not necessarily the workers fault, but I only came here because I have no money and need to pay my bills, and now my arm is so messed up I cannot donate anymore until it heals, which may take up to several weeks at this point, which is long enough for my new customer increased pay ($100 every visit) to expire, so by the time Ive recovered enough to come back Ill be making much much less money, with ZERO compansation. They also had no help in taking care of my arm, even admitting to me they had no idea what happened to it.So this review is mostly aimed at the policies they have here, as there is no consideration for extending the amount of time I gety increased pay, as well as no compansation whatsoever for turing my arm black and red for at least 4 weeks. The workers, once again, were very nice and helped all they were able to, just to reiterate.
I really wanted to like this place because it’s in such a great location but I’ve been here several times and it has taken 3 hours MINIMUM from start to finish and I’m not even a new donor. Tonight I got in at 4pm and left at 7:55pm. Extremely understaffed, very slow, no sense of urgency. Two days ago the phlebotomist didn’t clamp my cord right and my blood poured out onto the floor. I got screened immediately today but waited over 2 and a half hours to be sat on a bed. Just ridiculous. Corporate needs to hire qualified workers, pay them adequately so they stay and train better. There were a dozen resticks just while I waited. This center is a disaster.
The lines have been resolved at least for now. Tax refund season does that, but also, more staff has been brought in and trained up.This center is friendly and they are good about paying you even when your donation fails due to flow stop, bad stick, etc.Hours are 7-7 finally. They moved to a $70 a session policy if you have 8 within the last 30 days, so you no longer lose $100 for missing a session but gain only $25 for completing it (like is standard compensation for centers). A BADLY needed reform thats implemented flawlessly.Edit: updated hours and donation amounts
I thought I already updated my review a few months ago. I dont know if they trained their staff better in that time.I asked them if getting the covid vaccine would be a problem for donating. They told me no and said if I have side-effects, like a fever, just wait 24 hours after the side-effects resolve to come back.I come back, tell them I got the vaccine and had mild side-effects as I was instructed to. There wasnt any issue. The next time I come in, the other person deferred me for 2 weeks because I had body aches or flu like symptoms.Federal regulations only require that I am experiencing no side-effects at the time of donation, but they seem to make up their own rules.
Put this one on for size guys.... I came here to donate, spend almost 2 hours, reading the text, watching the video, having my blood tested and fingerprint taken. Just to be deferred because I take Suboxone, however I have never used needles and my blood was 100% fine. Suboxone doesnt effect plasma, in fact I would of been fine to donate if the medicine was for pain on a take as needed basis. Pretty much the prescreening and tests identified I was a 100% compatible donar, however due to policy I wasent allowed to donate. Now, over the years I have known quite a few heavy drug users who donate. They lie to the staff and are able to weasel their way into donation even though they use needles.Upon my visit I had personally SEEN one of these people I know. They are still using. However their plasma was considered completely fine. There are some serious problems hereAt the very least, you could inform visitors that they are not allowed to donate if they receive addiction treatment. There isnt a single of line of text that says this anywhere in the building, in the information, or online. Yet,.my doctor along with medicine in general dictates that donating plasma while on Suboxone is fine. Even the staff had agreed it didnt effect plasma.Point being if your someone in recovery whos doing all the right things trying to make better with your life, do not go here. There is a reason why plasma is short in the U.S.We have alot of addicts in this nation and those in active addiction are usually able to donate while those in treatment cannot. This effects those who need plasma based medicines and contributes to shortages.Edit: I got a family member thinking that Im lying about being deferred...I did quite a bit of research before even coming...so theres that....at very least make it more clear for people.
Very nice facility! Penny and Dreama are great! Professional and friendly, and very open to answering any question you might have. Everything was brand new, spotless, and very comfortable! This is definitely my new place to donate and I would recommend Octapharma without a doubt to everyone!!!!
This place is the worst donating center in Dayton 5hr waits on returning donors. New donors walking right past you with speed passes. Last 4 times I been their its been 4hrs or better to donate. They have no staff because they pay trash and this place has the worst hours and days not open. Its a complete joke avoid at all cost not worth the extra 20.
I am a good citizen and I like to help people when I can I do have a disability it has been taking me two months to get the paperwork that the plasma center wants me to fill out from the doctor. I have had the paperwork filled out two times because there is one paper that they give me 2 bring back to them that the plasma center has have to fill out themselves which does not make any sense at all. Today I went in I thought everything was going to be okay Im all set to go. But when I got to the physical there was a question for the doctor that was not on the paperwork that needs to be asked. I think the plasma center needs to go back and redo that paperwork that they need to make sure the person is okay to donate. This is all I have to say I am just furious with the way they handle the paperwork in this matter.
I understand you have staffing issues. But closing the center Sunday and Monday wasnt the answer. I work full time and do this to make some extra money. I got to the plasma center at 8am this morning there was 27 people ahead of me that means not getting into a bed until 11 or 12 then another hour to donate were looking at 1pm before I get out and my day half gone. I hope you guys figure things out soon so I can come back but right now just not worth the time you have to wait to donate.
After sticking me in both arms I still hurt. They unhooked me and I was not paid. The machine was malfunctioning the people who were working were incompetent and there was no supervision. Workers were showing disrespect for a white mans sensibility. I am getting ripped off by my bankcard.
I was thinking 1 star after the first denial for 0.1 over on protein, the second visit another denial i couldnt get stuck deep enough to draw blood,, another 1 star.. both times rating to my self. I said Im not going back.there. then I thought of why I went there to start with. On my third time returning. (After doing everything right, eating, drinking) boom i was in. The whole time the staff was kind and courteous, made me glad I returned. After all my health and safety is on both of us. For their kindness I give them a 5 star. And cant wait to return. Thank you to all.
So i literally just left this place and im truly disgusted at the fact there is a woman here who is supposed to he overseeing that this place is being ran correctly when if people werent all at the front desk joking and laughing someone wouldve been able to help the man who did my take down so for him trying to help n not having help im not entirely upset with him what i will say is under NO CIRCUMSTANCES is it ok to touch patient to patient blood to blood n not change gloves he litetally took down the woman beside me brought her bottle to my cart put my bottle with hers didnt change glaves wiped blood off my arm with his gloved finger proceeded to touch everything after still not changing gloves put the gauze on my open site where needle was with same gloves as other patient n when u speak up about them not changin fukn gloves they get an attitude so ill call someone above this is unacceptable!!!
Now this place have gone down the drain extremely long Waits, not enough machines for donors and now they go off of weight so if you are a heavy person you will not be receiving any extra pay and they want extra plasma from you so if I was you I would not donate. This place is robbing people blind please dont waste your time with this plasma center!!!! The whole goal is to save lives what this company seems like they want is only a profit its really a shame really!!!!!!
Dont get there of you dont have the time to waste I spent hours in there just to be told I cannot donate because of the medication I take when I called in and asked about it before I made the trip on my only day off wasting my time and gas so yeah your better off sitting at home not wasting your valuable time not gas

2022-06-13First time donor here. Was very impressed with both staff and facility. They made me very comfortable and I didn’t even feel the stick. Also grateful for the extra cash given the current times. It’s kinda cool to get paid to take an hour and do something good. Definitely worth it and will definitely be back.

2022-09-04This place is nothing like the negative review would have you think. The staff was super helpful. They wiped down every area before seating you down. They went over everything throughout. They laid everything out step by step. They were reassuring. They paid that same day. This place is amazing. I would definitely recommend

2022-08-22The staff is very friendly, kind and patient. They truly take their time with each individual. If your a client, and your wanting to get in and out quickly, then do your part in the donation process and let the Staff do their job to make it a safe and enjoyable visit.

2022-08-16I dont know how on earth this place can be rated good because nothing about this location is even 1 star. Place is absolutely filthy tends to bring in the worst crowd, has the stench of chewing tobacco from people throwing it on the ground everywhere, they didnt even have soap in the bathroom and I got turned away because theyre understaffed which they failed to mention over the phone. I dont care how much money they offer donors this place was the most disgusting and unprofessional donation will never be back.

2022-07-08I arrived at 7:30am to sign up as a new donor and finished at 10:30. They were short staffed because someone called off. Connie and Curtis were very pleasant and professional. The only thing that bothered me is how repetitive the information is. The first thing I did was read over a binder. Then I watched a video that had all of the same information in it. Then Connie read me a 24 page binder. I would rather have read the binder myself or watched the video and then take a test. It seems unnecessary to keep regurgitating the same information. Other than the tedious stuff, it was quick and painless. The environment is very relaxed too which is nice

2022-07-25The employees here are great, super nice, but they are understaffed. The lines are super long. Plan to be there between 2-3 hours. They do not take appointments so you just have to wait (which has to do with staffing. More employees = less wait time, but finding employees these days is an issue everywhere). If they took appointments they would at least know how many people to plan on having that day.The pay is nice, more than other places. You receive it on a debit card. The only way to get money off of it is to use it for payment at stores, restaurants, etc or go to an ATM. You can do cash back at the grocery or wherever they offer it but there are fees (same with the ATM). There is NO way to transfer the money from your card to your bank account. Neither the cards or app are set up for that. I did call the card company (Comdata) and they confirmed the cards are not set up to transfer funds to your bank which is super inconvenient. I know at other places Ive donated at I could just do it online but they used other cards, not Comdata.

2022-08-28The staff is attentive and a fun group. I feel welcome and safe soon as I walk in.Screening to Management. Theres no distinction of work. No one there says thats not my job. Everyone is in or nothing at all.

2022-08-24I was pulled to side chair and was told that I wouldnt lose my spot in line and I did. I said something to the quality person and she had a bad attitude because she called 4 people a had of me, the reason I was sent to the side chair was to tell me it was time for blood to be check. No big deal. The 1st time I came about 8 months gone and I had to see a nurse no big deal done with the sitting at the side chairs for a while I finally said something because I wasnt getting called and they realize that my info didnt come across so I had to go through everything again and told me I would get coupons to go ahead of everyone but that didnt happen.

2022-05-02The staff are excellent in the way that they do their jobs and they make sure your comfortable and feeling well. They make sure that your ok before you leave. I have told many people to go to them and have had at least one person go. I keep recommending people to them and I will continuing to send ppl there way. I go constantly.

2022-06-28The process went alot smoother than I expected. The first visit took a little extra time. Plan to be here 4-5 hours the first time. Im here on my second visit and it is going by alot faster. Not only are the other donors pretty chill but they are just as helpful as the employees which are all awesome as well. I was relieved that the woman who set up the IV for my donation was quick and actually painless. Usually when i have labs done it tends to be an uncomfortable process where i seem to always have to be stuck twice. I swear Irma went straight in and was done within a matter of 2 seconds. Irma and Ashley, lord please let those names be right, were phenomenal. They were constantly checking on all the donors making sure everyone was OK and things were going smoothly. All of the employees here actually do their jo. And do it well.Only suggestion I have is maybe play some music in the building or at least up front...
