Octapharma Plasma in other cities:
They have gotten a lot better since my last review, which is why I changed my post except they are short staffed but still take in new donors, SMDH. Regular donors get passed up by new donors 3 to 1. Wait time is horrible..They got new manager, Even though they overlooked and dismissed the lady that should have gotten it, very nice and professional woman, shes been there for years.SMDH. Still very crowded through, They are trying to hire more, but i think the pay is not enough for the B.S they put up with. They using Traveling nurses to help out, but even with that, the whole donor process is anywhere from 2 to 3 hours.
Bin trying to get in as a new doner Abt 6 times now an conveniently they just stopped taking them right before I show up an tell me to come back in the morning! Its like Joes crab shack free crab legs tomorrow smh!! This place is a straight JOKE!!! They must treat their employees pretty bad bc it seems like none of them want to be there ! Maybe someone should check into this place they might b using slave labor an forcing them to work! Idk but something must b going on bc if I hated my job that much I dont know about u but I would quit!! Ill be really surprised if this place is still in business in 6 months !!!
This place is very clean and the staff is very nice. I do wish they would be less chatty and move a little quicker because I feel like i spend most my day here and I am not a first time donor. I understand customer service is a big deal, but you can chat and keep moving at the same time. I want to save a life, but I dont want to be here all day every time. Maybe hire more help, considering this seems to be a very busy location.
Great service. I dont agree with the pay outs its to low especially when this is a multi billion dollar company the 1st 8 donations should be $250.00 and $150.00 on the regular since we are saving a life and putting ours at risk donating can lead to health problems and they dont pay enough
Thank you Josh and upper management.Your staff treated me with respect and kindness. The facility is very clean. They have a lot of chairs. You get paid within 20 minutes of leaving on your pay card. Good place to go to. They also have bonuses. The nurse Joyce and The nurse were great. The phlebotomist that dealt with me Bethany and Ashley were good too
One of the best places to work and to donate. As a new employee EVERY staff member has been warm hearted and welcoming. As a nurse this a wonderful opportunity to began a career. Management is caring and willing to help in any situation. Everyone cares a lot about the donors and their treatment and time. This place has been one of the best choices Ive made in my career and I want to welcome anyone who is wanting to come in and donate or apply. Overall, a beautiful facility with incredible staff and awesome donors!
I like it for the most part. Staff is kind, helpful, knowledgeable. One member of staff though, did rupture my vain and caused severe bruising so I have avoided going back untill it healed. I will request a different person stick me from now on bc that ish hurt. Oh, and the enviornment? The people who donate plasma at this location? Most are quiet do what they need to and get out. Others, see it as a way to be loud, attention seeking degenerates who dont care for anyone else. Over all, its okay... Could be better.
The place is very nice and clean, i felt welcomed when i first started donating. But as more people plasma HOP (going to diffrent plasma centers to get the new donor bonuses) and find out about this place the busier it gets. For example if there are only three people ahead of you in line you can expect to be in the building two and a half hours or so when the last place I used to donate you would be in and out in 1 hour. They are very under staffed at the moment but overall very clean.
Enjoy working here as well as donating here. The donors make the place what it is.... great! I enjoy seeing the faces of my donors returning each week! Some have shared personal struggles with me as well as great news! I love that they know I am always here for them. I enjoy coming to work because we have a great team that is more like family! Best part is that we all are saving lives!
I have been donating here for over 6 months now. By far the best plasma center in the Akron / Cleveland area. The building is the newest and cleanest. The staff are super friendly and very good at what they do. It is a great way to save lives and also earn some good money while doing it. They give away big prizes each month and always have lots of fun stuff going on. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a way to make ends meet and save some people in the process.
This place is professional and very clean. The staff are kind and courteous and treat you like family. I have never had any issues here at this plasma center because the staff is very patient and always attentive to each and every person who walks through the door. I will recommend my friends and family to come to Octapharma and save a life by donating plasma.
Friendly staff.By referring someone they reward you by taking you off the kiosk, giving you the express pass, then you have to go to the back of the kiosk line which puts you back an hour or more to where youre forced to use your express pass only to get your original spot in line. Completely useless!
(1) I worked with this company at the Akron, OH location from the beginning before this new center even opened to the public in Feb 2018. I have seen many changes during this short time period at this location with staff and especially with management. There is high turnover. When I first started here it was just me and one other nurse. My main responsibilities were potential donor physical exams and responding to emergencies if donors had reactions out on the floor while donating. Many times I worked alone to complete physicals on my own with new donors. New donors can take several hours to process through because of all the steps they have to go through the first time and this location does not have a cut off time for accepting new donors. The management that was here before was sensitive to this and WOULD cut off new donors at a certain time before the center closed. New management that is there does not care if you are the only nurse working and even in other areas for that matter - no concern for staff and try to operate like they are fully staffed but are extremely short staffed. If you know anything about the retail industry then you know how the hours can be and I feel this place is like working in retail except in the medical field.Management that was there before including many traveling managers from other locations would jump in in various areas like answering phones, help screen whatever. A LEADER, a Center Director or an Assistant Manager I believe should know all areas they are here to MANAGE over so they can fill in at times when it is short staffed like the managers who have helped this center out in the past besides just taking a label off a machine and sitting a donor in a chair. There are other areas besides the donor floor that needs assisting at times as well like the screening area when it gets backed up with donors or the lab when it gets backed up with plasma bottles to process. I did not feel RESPECTED here and there was a lack of communication except for maybe if you are running in the office every few minutes to complain or whine about something or someone. Every position is able to cross train and earn an increase in pay except for nurses but yet the new Regional Director wants it mandatory for nurses to learn other areas but there is no incentive to do so and this is something that should be explained when hiring someone if this is the expectations. Some of the employees that come into the center from the corporate office appear to ACT like they are better than the staff working at the center level and do not even bother introducing themselves to employees. Other places Ive worked at in the past owners and employees from corporate have been warm and welcoming especially with a new location with new staff to make it feel like you made a great decision to work with their organization. I have read emails from donor complaints with corporate employees wanting it addressed and like the staff here did something wrong when it is in fact things we have no control over which is explained to donors like the fact that we can not issue a new card to them if one has already been linked to them - that is a company corporate policy out of local staff control and only thing center staff can do is give them the number to the card company for them to issue a new card if their current one has been lost or stolen.
Octapharma has very nice and helpful employees. The phebs are good stickers and try their best to cause as little pain as possible. The front desk employees are helpful with questions and always meet us with a smile. The managers are willing to help too with any needs we as donors might have. I rate Octapharma with high honors. The only place to donate plasma.
Was told I would go ahead of returning donors because I was a 1st time donor. Been waiting in this chair for almost 2 hours and still not hooked up yet! Theres been at least 10 people go ahead of me.Now they just let another 1st time donor that was behind me go ahead of me. The staff here seems rude and SLOW! Just got done. Their add says 2 hours, I was there 4 1/2.
I love working here at Octapharma plasma the employees on my teammates and I love working with them all . Management is always there we need them . And our facility is very clean . And we work very hard to take care of our donors so come down and join us And be among The many other happy donors. We are open Monday through Sunday 7 AM to 7 PM.
Nice environment but they do not put the correct amount of money on peoples cards after sitting there freezing for 3 hrs. For the hassle it should be an extra 25 dollars. Now I cant even order my books online because Im supposes to get $70 and they shorted me 3 dollars wow and my books came up to 68 dollars. Please get it together
They don’t have enough staff for how busy they get there has been people here before me waiting for over 2 hours and I’ve been here for a little over an hour and there are still 8 people in front of me...they shouldn’t of opened their center if they can’t run it properly..everyone is really nice here and it’s a good atmosphere but other then that I’m probably done coming her after this time.. I work at talecris in Akron and we do a way better job and pay better I’m just not allowed to donate there
(2)To add insult to injury my father who lived in North Carolina passed away in March. I week before my father ended up passing away I told my one Assistant Manager that my father was very sick and being moved to hospice and that I needed to take off work to go down there. He then informed the Center Director for who I am unable to use a more DESCRIPTIVE way to describe this INSENSITIVE woman in this review told him to let me know I would still get a POINT for corrective action for going to see my gravely ill father out of state. My parents raised me to be RESPECTFUL, HARDWORKING and like the old adage to treat others like Id want to be treated. I am a laid back person, I work hard and try to get along with everyone though I know everyone is not like this and I know everyone will not like me for whatever reason beyond my control. What was really HURTFUL not one card did I receive or even a floral arrangement with my father passing away. That TRULY hurt not even from my nursing colleagues. Oh one of my fellow nurses asked me a week or so ago how my daughters cat was doing NOT oh how is your daughter doing with her GRANDFATHER just passing away a few months ago. Aw, where is the COMPASSION where is the EMPATHY??? My donors SHOWED more then even some of my own coworkers. I had a doctors appointment yesterday in Cleveland and was not sure what time I would be into work but the one Assistant Manager approved me to come later than what time my shift was suppose to start. Where I was at my reception was poor for my cell phone and the Center Director called me whos last day was yesterday with this company from her PERSONAL cell phone leaving me a voicemail asking where I was at. I did not even realize I had a message from her until today nor recognize the number from the missed call. I guess her and the one Assistant Manager wanted to get rid of me so badly and being the other Assistant Manager that approved my time off was off work yesterday. This Assistant Manager goes ahead and submits it for me to be terminated to the Regional Director without even communicating with the other Assistant Manager who had approved my time off. There goes that LACK OF COMMUNICATION AGAIN. But you know what? It is OK, I HAVE a CAREER that is in high demand. I do not know how it is working at other locations with this organization but that has been my experience working at the Akron, OH center. Ms. I**a and Ms. Al**e at the corporate office were very helpful in helping me to get paid during my FMLA/personal leave during the time of my fathers death due to my local management not submitting my PTO time so I could get an actual paycheck besides the one I had first received for $7.77 because my time had not been submitted and for answering all my benefit questions. Even the woman that opened my FMLA claim at Aetna was very kind and compassionate and I truly APPRECIATE them for that. I will miss some of my coworkers and definitely MY DONORS. I can say I have meet some REALLY great people from all walks of life working here and I really enjoyed that about this job. Things may be looking up for this center since the lady Center Director is gone and they really need to make the one Assistant Manger Center Director already who is fair, respectful and has the experience in this type of industry which is unable to be said for the other manager there or the other one that recently left.
I just came into this location and needed a transfer from another location. that they handle through emails. Ive been through this same process with the same company. the nurse who was handling the transfer name is Mary . she nice , but unprofessional . Ive been setting here for over an hour witch never never have taken this long any other times . one of the reasons could be that nurse mary went to lunch and just let see her leave with giving me an update on the situation after sitting for an hour already smh. so far this is the furthest Ive gotten in the process so
First time donating here with a friend, and it took them 5 hours to get us through the entire process. The book said it would only take 2. I sat here for an hour just waiting to be registeredUpdate- came back cuz I needed money. Every time I came in, there was a 2-3 hour wait, and when I got the chance to actually donate, every time they had to stick me twice. They don’t know how to take people back in order either. I was 4th in line and 8 people went in front of me. Never coming back again.
I LOVE DONATING BECAUSE EVERYONE ARE SO NICE. AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION THEY WILL GIVE YOU THEIR BEST TO ANSWER YOU. AND THE STICKERS THEY ARE VERY GOOD,AND I REALLY LIKE HOW THEY DO THEIR JOBS YOU HAVE TO BE THERE TO APPRECIATE THEM . AND WHAT THEY DO AND HOW THEY DO. AND IT,S VERY CLEAN AND SAFE. AND IT,S RIGHT ON THE METRO BUS ROUTS #3 AND #14. PLUS YOU WILL BE HELPING PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD AND SAVING LIVES . NOW THAT SHOULD MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF. AND YOU ARE EARNING SOME MONEY TO. SO COME ON DOWN AND JOIN OUR TEAM AT OCTAPHARMA PLASMA AT 1543 HAWKINS AVE IN AKRON,OHIO 44320.
Spent 17 years at CSL/ZLB without anything like this. 2nd week at Octa, protein failed an offsite test they do every few months. Waited a week, went back and took sample test to send back out and retest. Was told that if passed, onsite doctor would have to ok the results and he only comes in on Thursdays. Failed again. Took another, waited a week and called today to check and they told me test passed but doctor already showed up Monday so hes out again until whichever day he chooses to show up next week and i just have to keep checking back to see which day that is. Unreliable. Most people have to do this to help supplement partial income and it doesnt work when you never know when the boss to sign off your release will be there. So heres another week that i miss out. To the ones missing out, this is a big deal. People in charge need to have promised hours.
This plasma place is a joke. The staff stand around when your in line waiting get seen .I mean the fist time of me being a new donor someone stole my card and staff tell you call number on back of card to order a new one. Question is why cant give people a new card there every other plasma place does.It been third time in one month and paid 20 doller get it faster to my house and had refund my money because it never came it had a tracking number on it. And the other plasma places have better money a week to donate at not this they cant afford the pay out to there plasma donate there..
Went three times to try and give my fifth donation, I waited in line to get hooked up to the plasmapheresis machine and was called out of order, so I waited over one and a half hours each time in total showing up at 11:50 and leaving at 1:45 because if I did get hooked up I would be late to work. Bad management of donor flow.Staff is friendly but unknowing of their inefficiency to their donors.
Drove from a hr away went through a 2 hr process just to be turned away with no pay even for my time wasted.Just to drive back a hr with wasted gas and time ...Was my first time trying to donate not a great experience .If you have back problems better make sure you have your doctor fax the facts before hand or you’ll be turned away

2022-07-28Theres a few labitris that shouldnt work there. Other than that its pretty good. Machines work nicely with the latest technology to my understanding. The Manager and the Nurses were very kind to me and thats so important in the process of feeling appreciated by staff

2022-05-26Like I said in the survey your operation is exemplary. But there should be a list of things that will stop you from donating before you go through all the processes. I went through all the processes my blood was good but I couldnt donate because I had mesh from an old hernia surgery.

2022-07-19Ive been coming here on and off for years. No matter how much staff they have, no matter if you use octapass no matter how many people it seem to be in front of you, a liittle or a lot. It is ALWAYS slow. The staff dont wanna work they just talk. This place never seems to get any better.

2022-05-27Id give this place 5 stars to a handful of staff here that is absolutely wonderful. But these screeners are the problem. All they do is talk and get distracted from their job. I shouldnt have to stand here for an hour waiting when its NOT BUSY. Defeats the purpose of the app...

2022-07-22I am a new donor to Octapharma Plasma on 07/21/22. Although I have donated in previous years this establishment was awesome! It is conveniently located in Wooster-Hawkins Shopping Plaza and the place is super clean and the employees are super nice and helpful.Karen was my nurse who did my physical she was great and Lawana was my phelbotomist and she stuck me with care. I have donated two other places in my lifetime and Octapharma Plasma is by far the best plasma donation center I have been to. I highly recommend them. Their payout schedule is very generous as well.

2022-07-25Place is in the ghetto for 1. The managers usually sit on they desk all day. Most of the people who work there definitely not fully trained. Seems like people work a few months go somewhere else and fake use this place as an experience. Its absolutely hostile in there and management never gives there employees off days. The employees seem worned out the ones who are actually good.they stuck multiple holes in one of my arms. Ive seen people have seizures there Ive seen outta control donors talk crazy and threatening staff all kinda behavior mishaps........ But if your super desperate for that dollar ig come here🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ p.s. if I could put 0 stars I would

2022-07-27Unfortunately, as much as i would like to give this place a good review.. I have had several issues. I have been donating for a total of 4 years. 3 1/2 going to a competitor, before giving this company a shot.Within my new donor status, and 1 additional week, i have had over 20 hours of total sitting around wait time.I have also been pricked that has left brusing, which I speak on every thing i hold dear to me has never happened prior. The last time i went i officially called it quits, by being pricked by the central director herself which left me having a vein blown out. As a 25 year old male, relatively healthy and no prior issues ever, i was gaslighted in front of other patients, after explaining a specific machine they had in bay 3 keep throwing a no flow code... which after a few weeks of observation has always had issues with other clients, she decided to dig deeper into my arm with the needle which left me in the most pain i have ever been in.Besides 3 members, the staff is majorly uneducated and under trained, very little work ethic and by far the absolute worse experience i have ever encountered. If i had a way to sue this company for the damage they have done i would do it in a heartbeat.Honestly if this is my final words for this company... its a complete capitalistic joke, and deserves to be shut down.I am probably the most forgiving and most patient individual you can meet, and still hold true to these words.Octa- you are so very lucky i dont have more knowldge in the medical field... or i would have pursued this even further

2022-07-28A lot of times they’re super busy and don’t have enough staff working that can hook you up and unhook you in a timely manner but everyone there is super nice and I do like this particular location

2022-07-27It would be better if yall actually had staff to do the job Im there 3-5 hrs every single time Im there and recently its been a 5hr process on top of the fact that the donors have no consequences if theyre rude or disrespectful to other donors in this place so Im being generous with 2 stars smh

2022-07-23Was in and out but recently they are a little wait because they are short staffed. But other wise theyre pretty good
