EDIT- 6 months here & still absolutely no problems, the office staff is still amazing, (especially Ricci & Cody) maintenance is outstanding things get fixed almost immediately, no issues with bugs & all the neighbors are very friendly & stick to themselves. We signed a 16 month lease & dont regret it. If we dont buy a house we will be re signing.I really don’t know what all of these bad reviews are about exactly, my best guess is it’s people mad that they got kicked out due to being public nuisances. The office staff is exceptional & they are all very friendly. The application process was so easy & fast. The apartment that they showed us was absolutely beautiful & it had the homey feel to it. All around we had an amazing experience with them so far. Don’t listen to the reviews about the office staff being rude, or the application being hard, they are amazing & very easy to get along with.
Absolute nightmare to live here , the water is constantly getting cut off. The office especially Ricki , will not notify you until it’s already turned back on 😂. Plus they have rusty scaffolding holding up the stairway because one of the stairways collapsed extremely UNSAFE!!!. The tiles come off the floor when you walk on em, and all they wanna do is raise the rent and not fix anything 😂😂😂. Unfortunately, A police officer was already hurt on the stairs when he fell through . If you want a nice place to live with people that want to help you …this is not the place.
Such a great place to rent at!!! I cant tell you how much of an amazing job Ricki our property manager does. Not only does she truly care about her renters but she also cares about what you are going through as well. The most understanding property manager Ive ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Im going on four years in this place and dont plan on moving out until I go bigger. Serious kudos to Ricki!!! She literally even shoveled my car out of snow for me when she noticed I was stuck. No property manager could ever top her.
Don’t let these negative reviews scare you off! The leasing staff here is great. The new property manager, Ricki and her leasing agent Cody are fantastic. I’m not looking to move for a little while but they were more than happy to show me around and treated me like family. I will most definitely be renting here when my lease is over at my apartment!
I lived at Oakmont Flats for 2 years. I just moved out in February 2020. Definitely wasn’t my favorite apartment, but wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had either....They charge you way more for rent than you should be paying. I moved because I found a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment with a fireplace, washer and dryer inside the unit and it’s HUGE and they are charging the SAME PRICE for a 2 bedroom one bath NO WASHER/DRYER and it’s sooo small. We are a family of three, my husband, me, and my 2 year old, and we were SO cramped in that apartment. They say they do background checks, but I doubt that... most of our neighbors were okay, but there were some very sketchy people living there. The walls are very thin so you can hear pretty much every conversation that the other tenants are having. I paid a $300 security deposit when I moved in, and I just received a check for $70. I know they took out $95 for carpet cleaning which is fine, but there’s still an extra $135 they took out on top of that! I scrubbed that apartment from top to bottom it looks great so I don’t understand what they took out the $135 for. I called Ricki the property manager and she will NOT return my call. I called wanting to know what they took money off for. She is very unprofessional and I am glad that we found a much nicer apartment and no longer have to live at Oakmont Flats. Also, they didn’t open the pool last summer until mid to end summer, so you could barely get use out of it. Save your money and look elsewhere! There’s a reason they are rated so poorly....
This place is trash the manager is obviously lazy I have contacted them multiple times to prove I paid a balance that is now on my credit report from five years ago can’t get a call back or email response even though I have proof I paid the amount in question I had an as is apartment before they switched management and the new management are impossible to work with. DO NOT MOVE HERE. you will regret it
After reading the reviews I was weary about applying. After speaking to the property manager Ricky I would suggest that she take an immediate course in customer service. I drove through the property to base my own decisions off first hand experience and it is truly a ghetto. Do not rent nor bother visiting this disgusting excuse for apartments.
Majority of the outlets don’t work. Apartment floods every time it rains..THE OFFICE STAFF IS RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Ricci refuses to answer or return phone calls. 0/5. Would NOT recommend leasing and moving in. After living here I see why there are so many negative reviews. Starts out sweet, then it turns sour real quick. It’s a trap..
I cant say anything to anyone elses experiences here but honestly, Im very happy with this place! My A/C was fixed within a few days both times it stopped working. You cant hear hardly anything from the apartments around you. We have had no problems with neighbors or the community except minor things like people not picking up after their dogs. Maintenance has been helpful to us and friendly. Its an old building so of course theres a few issues related to it but nothing major. All in all, in the year Ive lived here, the good outweighed the bad BY FAR and considering all the negative I heard about this place, Im very happy. If I didnt get a good deal on owning my own home, I wouldve had no problem signing another lease.
Living here has been an awesome experience. The staff has been awesome and give first class service. The staff always puts the tenant first and provide an awesome service. The maintenance team here is spot on and very knowledgeable and always respond in a timely manner.
Don’t listen to the negative reviews. I’ve lived at Oakmont for over a year and it’s been a great place to live. Living space is great for its price and noise level is barely noticeable. The office has always answered my calls in a timely fashion and they do the best they can to provide the best service. If my job wasn’t far away, I would definitely stay!
Had working a/c for maybe a collective six weeks out of the entire summer last year and it is currently not working with an open service request since 5/3. I was told itd be fixed est. 5/4 and havent heard from anyone since (after a few calls and emails). Bathroom has had a major leak twice in a place where I cant shut the water off and once they failed to come out for two days so I had to soak up the water for that long, ruining many towels. Our whole building got a disconnect notice fom duke because they are behind paying the electric by almost $500! We pay over $700 a month for a one bedroom so I dont understand what the issue is there! We get notices for bug spraying maybe 12 hours in advance with a letter backdated 48 hours. My mailbox has been broken for over a year where you can see into it and we can hardly get it open. Ive requested to have it fixed multiple times, even had the post office come out and they said it was the apts responsibility , I told them that and its still broken. We are not signing another years lease so will be paying $70 more a month to go month to month so in a few months we can move somewhere else. 0/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.Edit: These are not the only major issues weve encountered but I hope people get the point. Just wish they would get it together!!
The staff is very friendly and the apartments look nice but the experience with trying to get one was awful. The staff in the Rental Office didn’t give me any details or information about the apartment I was applying for. I had to ask all the questions but as a first time mover, I had no idea what I needed to know/ask about. I had already paid the application and hold fee by the time I found out the prices online were INCORRECT!!!! The real rent is $200 more than the listed rent online.
They had a quoted price of $689 on Facebook marketplace so I emailed with someone in the office for a week about the apartment. We were told its a $300 hold for an apartment when we filled out our application so we paid it. The person I was emailing wasnt in that day and after we paid the $300 we were told the apartments were no longer $689 that in fact they are $800-$899. When I questioned it they said the apartments prices vary day to day depending on the demand for apartments. How the hell can they just change the amount the apartments go for day to day!! I would never recommend this place!
I am a current resident here and the service with this place is just horrible. They moved me and my family into a apartment that was not ready what so ever. Maintenance does not know what they are doing they do half ass jobs the people in the office are just as worse....Their asking for $729 for a place that is not even worth it! Save your time and save your money this place is a joke. You tell them about your problems with this place and that you want to terminate your lease and they give you the run around and tell you that termination of your lease is not a option anymore. I’m convinced this place just money hungry!! Me and my family are currently looking for else where to move. DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS PLACE!!!!!
Oakmont Flats is probably one of the worst apartment complexs in the city. Do not move in here. There is constantly trash everywhere! They do not have cameras, so if you get something stolen you are SOL. About a week ago I had $400 in my nightstand drawer. Maintenance came in to install a window screen when I wasnt home. When I went to grab it two days later the money was gone. I filed a police report and when I reported it to management they were not apologetic at all. Leslie Pennkamp said I talked to him and he said he was only in your apartment for a few minutes.Another huge issue is the water bill. Prior to signing the lease back in November a previous leasing agent named Riley said that there is a monthly bill of $20 for water. That was clearly false when our bill started being in the 30s then when I brought it up with Leslie Pennkamp, the property manager she said that was false and that the bill will never go above $40. What do you know, this past month our water bill was $63. How insane is that!?!?!? Basically how they divide it is they get one bill and Oakmont Flats will divide it by the number or bedrooms and if you have a washer or not. So I live in a two bedroom apt. with one other person but say the people next to me live in a two bedroom apt. and live with 5 people. We are paying the same exact water bill.Basically summing up everthing. YOU WILL GET SCREWED!! DO NOT MOVE IN OAKMONT FLATS.
Horrible place to rent and live. Place not clean when moved in. Smelled of mold. Smelled of pot from neighbors. Very noisy neighbors. Bugs, bugs, bugs!!! Tons of water roaches! Spray all the time but always infested. Would get notices of bed bugs in building! Horrible maintenance! Notice of electricity shut off due to missed payments from main office! Trash always overflowing at dumpsters. Takes a month to get your deposit back! Do not rent from here!
I currently live here for 6+ months and its horrible, your getting rent and a water bill plus whatever they think you owe. Half time no water or electricity. The pros for this is:close to gas stations and food (if needed) not so bad space (if your a family of three) cons: never email them they dont answer it. Calling doesnt work either. First moving in was great but noticed slow working of things hooks up for washer/dryer in your master cloest no room for clothes. They need to fix floors and doors . Neighbors are either loud with tv or radio. Half of the outlets dont work in apartment. If you have a dinning table make sure its small. Kitchen and bathroom half assed put together. If your looking for cheap go find it else where youll be getting better than here. NEVER KEEP CASH IT WILL BE STOLEN, MAIL TO, HAD TO GO TO POST OFFICE AND ASK WHY I DIDNT GET MAIL FOR THREE WEEKS AND THEY SAID IT WAS PUT IN THE BOX (which the door is broken) never had pest control done. I cant wait to leave this trash place. Theres fights outside at 2 am. Drugs being dealt and the smell of weed around here is over the top. When entering the parking lot make sure you dont blow your tires from all the glass on the ground. Leave now dont come here.

2021-11-18I moved into this complex from out of state about six, maybe seven years ago when it was under different ownership and management. I just needed an apartment FAST and this was convenient to the job i had just started. The place was a nightmare!! I stuck out my lease - mostly out of necessity - and continued to rent month to month for another year or so until the complex changed hands and new management took over. I could see the improvement almost immediately. So I decided to stay and eventually moved to a larger, newly renovated, apartment in the same building. I love my apartment! It is cozy, clean and comfortable. My building is quiet and my neighbors are friendly. The improvements to the Pool, the playground (which I frequent with my granddaughter) and the outdoor spaces have been remarkable! The on-site managers and maintenance crew are always responsive and helpful. Is it a five star complex? No, not yet. But it went from less than zero to four in a very short period of time. It is a work in progress and I have full faith that the goal will be achieved. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable place to live.

2022-06-19The property manager is insane, she Literally threatened to follow two MINORS home all Because they wouldn’t give out their personal information. Wether they behaved or not it’s still not okay at all to ask people who don’t know who you are where they live for one, then to proceed threaten follow them home when they don’t give out their ages or apartment building number is too much, kids shouldn’t have to be worried some grown Karen is gonna follow them home all because they were cursing for Christ sake! Why are my kids calling me saying some woman is asking for their personal information? A grown woman shouldn’t be acting the way she did tonight.I will be contacting the supervisors about this. Do better.

2022-05-03Terrible place to live we moved out of desperation to get away from the situation we were in just to move into a worse situation we were hurrassed by the office management and our neighbors we couldnt walk around our apartment or even flush our toilet without a complaint one day I over heard the manager talking to the neighbor about us openly calling us trash for living our everyday life. Spoke to multiple people who have said the same thing and multiple people have left the location for the same reason please think before moving here

2022-06-17Its Lanie painter its not the rules that I could live with its the disrespect that this place has when they think you arent listening and Im not the only one who has this problem. You can keep replaying but it wont make a difference Im not the only one who feels this way things should be fixed.

2021-11-30We just moved in on the 10th of November and they welcomed us with opened arms. The maintenance and front office has been excellent! It is what we have been looking for, it’s been easy for us and our two daughters. It was easy to apply and it was fast to hear about if we got accept or not. Rent is very reasonable and not over priced like other places. I would totally recommend to someone who is looking to move into their own place.

2021-11-12If I could give this place a zero out of any stars I would. This place is has no customer service when it comes to the office staff and the property manager here is the worst of them all. The maintenance people are the only friendly people you will staff wise here. I will tell this. My boyfriend and I have lived here now since April and have had nothing but continuous issues. I could go on for days how many issues we have had since we have moved in. But tonight was the last straw. These pictures represent what happened tonight. My bf and I were walking down the steps tonight and the entire rubber came off this concrete step and I fell down all 3 steps. If anyone wants an apartment in this area please take my advice DO NOT MOVE HERE. The office staff will try to sweet talk you our your tour but don’t fall for it they will not help your care about you as a tenant once you move in they write you off as a check not a person. I hope this helps others and prevents others from having such a horrible experience in living.

2021-09-10I am assuming the overall rating stars were due to the past years, as the current management and staff is absolutely amazing. They have great open communication which allows issues and concerns to be fixed very quick. Very quiet neighborhood and tons of grass area to walk your pups. Neighbors have been nice and respectful which is sometimes hard to find in apartment buildings. This place deserves a higher overall rating as the current staff has improved this place immensely.

2021-10-18I’ve lived here since July and I have had a great experience so far! Apartment is nice inside and I feel safe. I’ve had a few maintenance issues but the office has been fast on their feet and getting the issues handled by the next day! Maintenance men have always been so kind when they come in. Nykky is always friendly!

2021-12-01Went looking for a new place to live after my lease is up.When you first walk in, youre greeted by Nykky, who was phenomenal to speak with. She was sweet and listened to my concerns intently. After she carefully explained and toured a unit with me, I felt pretty excited about putting in an application.Once we made it back to the office I got to meet Ricci, the property manager. She was ALSO very sweet and seemed to be genuinely interested in landing me as a tenant. She stuck around and made great conversation about the property while I was there!Looking forward to hearing back and possibly moving in!!
