They are sure quick, nice and have available soon appointments, but they are very expensive. We wanted to find a soon appointment to get our kittens fixed and it was 600 per each + 200 for exam and blood work. We did the surgery for our cat before them and it didn’t even cost half of it. We left without scheduling because we couldn’t afford that much. The other issue is they insisted that they didn’t receive their leukemia vaccine even when I showed them the records and I had to google their vaccine to check and it was the vaccine that cover 3 viruses panleukemia is one of them. Before scheduling they took 60 for reservation and I didn’t get it at that time but now I get it.
The facility is just the right size to make you feel comfortable and welcome. No animal smells and very clean. Staff and vets are friendly to the pets and the owners. Confident and competent. My newly adopted dog was very comfortable in the building, with the assistants and the veterinarians.
Out for you money and that is all. They went back in their word in regards to treatment for my dog and then double billed me for multiple things. When I refused to pay twice for things I already paid for, they said they wouldn’t treat my dog. I ended up spending almost 200$ on things my pet did not need to get the one injection that he did. And the injection was ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS more expensive than at his previous vet!? So I guess we will be driving the one hour to his old vet for his shot every month. Because this place is just disgusting.
Our cat goes to this practice so we logically chose Oak Tree for our rescue pup. We saw their newest Vet, Dr Tucker. From the front office receptionist to vet tech to the doctor, everyone went the extra mile to make our new dog have a positive experience. While they recommended a number of vaccines and gave us options of baseline diagnostic testing, they also asked good questions to help determine what was really the most necessary and we discussed those which might not really be needed. There was no pressure and I did not feel as if there was a push to drive revenue but rather a sincere care to see my dog remain healthy. This was sound, conservative preventative medicine. My pup has double rear dew claws. If they had been looking for a money making excuse, they could have mentioned surgery. Instead, I had to ask if they were a problem. Dr Tucker reassured me that at this age it really wasn’t a problem unless they got caught.Again, solid medicine, not money hungry like other comments I saw on Yelp.Great practice from what I have seen with our cat and now our dog.Ellie ReinkerCleveland Heights OH
Took no accountability for the mismanagement of my cat’s care plan which resulted in serious health risks to my pet and more emergency visit costs at their clinic. Requested to speak with the manager who was dismissive and when I requested to speak directly with the owners, I was denied.
Last week our 11 year old Rottweiler fell ill and we had to visit Oak Tree on short notice. Long story short we had to allow for Bear to go to doggy heaven. I must say the day was rough however from beginning to end we (Us and Bear) were treated with care and true concern. I truly recommend this vet for any services and when we get another furry family member we will be using them regularly. Thank you guys so much!!!
I didnt know this kind of care was available for animals, particularly, mySmoky who is/was a feral kitten at 6 weeks, now 6 years, but I think she thought she was home. They wrapped her up in a towel, held her close, and she was in heaven. Knowledgeable, loving care was given to Smoky and me as her mom, a peaceful place to rest knowing she was in great hands. Doc was even surprised how good Smoky was with the blood draw and injection. The kicker is, we got home, she got out of her carrier, ran to get her food, and then went back to her carrier and jumped in, saying take me back to that place of love.
My wife and I adopted a dog recently and needed a primary vet. I called over a dozen vets and pet hospitals and nobody returned my calls or emails. Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital returned my call promptly. Everyone was courteous and professional. Their hours are convenient and have an app to streamline things even more. Dr. Smith was very reassuring and personable. They also have a rewards system. Given the quality of the service we received, we will not go anywhere else. Give them your business, you will be happy you did!
Had several very bad experiences here. Happy to pay top dollar for quality care but get a very profit over pets vibe here. Now that we are taking our pups elsewhere they seem to be doing much better. We lived less than a mile from the location and now gladly drive over half an hour for our veterinary needs.
Very well service with your pet, my dog has been going here for about two years and it is the best I made for him. Thye inform you about the prices (love price and high price), checking up on your pet daily and is ready to answer your questions through call, message, or email. (^.^)
Being new to the area this year, finding quality vet care for my aging dogs was really important. Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital staff have all been very caring, understanding, and willing to accommodate my needs for appointments outside of work hours. All of the doctors have been compassionate, supportive, and informative when discussing my dogs exam results and care needs. I really appreciate the Pet Perks, which help defray the cost of some services, as vet care for aging dogs can be quite expensive. Overall Im very happy with the care my dogs and I receive at Oak Tree.
Beware they charge you an additional $60 if your dog needs a booster shot. They do not tell you this, and once youve already shelled out $400for the initial shots they expect you to pay for another unnecessary physical exam at the booster shot appointment when your dog just had a physical exam 2 weeks ago? This vet is all about the money and I wish they cared about your animals more. I would not recommend to anyone. Front desk staff is also super unfriendly and rude.
I had a pretty decent experience here up to a point. A few issues arose quickly. It was quite pricey for a college student like myself, they wouldnt let me enter the building (even after vaccination) so my cat had to go alone, and they always changed the vet who saw my cat so I never had a clear person to contact. This was all manageable as my cat always came back happy. However, I had to explain my cats breathing condition multiple times. The first vet said it could be asthma. The second said actually no its just post-nasal drip. The third time they again said it was asthma but we would have to test for it. It cost me almost 800$ for all the tests (x-ray, bloodwork, etc etc). After all that they came back negative they said actually, were not sure about asthma.. we still need the fecal exam and THEN you can pay for the asthma medication. At this point I quit trying to work with them and went to a new vet. The new vet requested a video of his breathing, noted that this was normal, and gave me a few tips that have all but eliminated the issue. Spoiler: it was not asthma, and I dropped 800$ on tests before Oak Tree would even give me a prescription for something my cat truly didnt need. For a college student, that was a huge amount of money loss that caused a lot of stress during the pandemic. I havent requested the money back because based on their customer service I doubt theyre the type to give refunds. But I want to be clear that taking advantage of people who care about their pets and dont know about veterinary issues isnt fair. Its obvious now they were tacking on unnecessary tests and I wasnt thinking twice as I just wanted my pet to feel better. I would not recommend this place.
Great experience for me and my scared kitty. They treated him so well. Took great care of him, hoping I can make this my kitty’s main vet.Update: This place is amazing! They always take great care of my fur baby, everyone is always nice and polite. I know he’s getting the best care when we walk through the door.
The experience at Oak Tree has been incredible! Dr. Tucker and team are amazing. They’re friendly and kind. I felt my pet was given a lot of TLC while he was there. The experience at Oak Tree has been incredible! I received a detailed medical report, phone calls and a text message follow-up concerning my dog. Dr. Tucker explained everything clearly. Thank you Oak Tree Veternarian!
We adopted our three year old mixed breed last summer, knowing that he was heart worm positive. We didn’t expect him to also have whip worm. We chose Oak Tree because they were nearby, had good reviews, and had appointments available. They have provided excellent care for Tucker through these fairly extensive series of treatments and medications. For those unfamiliar heart worm treatments are expensive, but we did compare and Oak Tree prices were below others. During COVID their call from your car and we’ll come get your dog policy works very well. Super friendly and responsive vets, techs and staff.
The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. I took my dog in for an overdue check up and the doctor was so thorough. She even knew that my dog had knee surgery years prior without even having her records. I was very impressed with the knowledge and compassion at oak tree. I recommend Oak Tree to anyone with a pet looking for compassionate and honest care.
My experience wasn’t the best. My first visit went ok, but it was $441. I went along with it because I had just gotten the puppy and wanted to be sure he was taken care of. What they fail to tell you, is that you will be charged an examination fee on the second visit too. You will not just be charged for second round of shots. There was a situation where, Heather (I think that’s her name), was literally shoving a bill in my face when I was trying to get an understanding of it. She had a “your dog WILL be getting these shots and you will deal and pay for it” attitude. I had to stop her mid-sentence and get her together. They will not tell you the difference between core and non-core shots. So, do your research. They make you think everything is mandatory. I asked for a quote for nurturing and was told over $600. My dog is not even 10lbs! I was able to find another, highly recommend Vet to do it for much, MUCH less. I could say more, but I will stop here. If you are not looking to ask any billing questions and just want services provided, this is the place for you.
We had a negative experience with this veterinary hospital. We brought in our senior dog as a new patient, had all of his vaccinations updated and lab tests run. It felt like they pushed some unnecessary add ons, but hes older and we wanted to make sure our buddy was covered. We brought him back for the second round of shots and were also charged an examination fee - with no notice that there would be a second exam, and no contact from the vet to tell us about the findings of said exam. When transferred to the office manager she informed us the second exam was their policy. I scoured the email correspondence and website, that policy was nowhere to be found. So our dog, was taken into a building without us (which, yes, safety first for everybody) but we had no idea if an exam was even preformed. It felt like a violation of trust, and bad business ethics. For our first visit we were given an itemized estimate and we could choose what we wanted him to receive or forgo - this time just a bill with no questions.Polite people, the staff genuinely loves dogs, but as a dog owner and a consumer I cant trust that every visit wont have hidden fees/charges only disclosed at the end of each appointment. Weve now changed vets.
I transferred my dogs care to Oak Tree from another local vet due to the lack of responsiveness of the other clinic. The staff were incredibly helpful, kind, and got my pup in same day for an urgent issue. They kept me updated the entire visit and called to check in the next day! Cannot recommend this clinic highly enough!
Taking my cat to the Oak Tree Vet was a fast and simple experience. I appreciated that they have adapted their policy during COVID to serve customers from their cars. They have you call them from your car, and then simply pick your pet up while you wait in the car. The vet recommended some useful toys and treats for my cat which have been helping her with some dental problems. Overall I would recommend Oak Tree Vet.
I had a great experience with Dr. Tucker. She answered all of my questions and took me seriously. She made me feel comfortable and took great care of my dog. I felt very heard. I had about a million concerns after not being able to take my dog in during covid, and she answered every single question. The additional staff is very kind and funny.
The team at Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital has been AMAZING! Their professional, but caring help approach on my visit ensures that I will become a forever client. Welcoming me, and informing me what to except having a new puppy. Has made me a better pup dad. Explaining every detail of the visit and taking the time to answer the questions I have, is truly thoughtful and Great customer and pet service!! Thank you for handling my new pup’s needs!!
I recommend Oak Tree veterinary because of the kind and friendly service I’ve experienced, and especially how they have worked to service their customers during this pandemic. They also seem to take on new patients (my cats) without any problems. Very much appreciated!! Of course I appreciate their knowledge and very warm bedside manner. 😻
Oak Tree Vets have ALWAYS take excellent care of my two cats. Their service is extremely professional, attentive, and thorough. Now with COVID, I really appreciate all the safety precautions they have been taking in order to provide their 5 * Service. I highly recommend Oak Tree Veterinary to anyone in the Cleveland Heights, University Heights area.
This place is honestly great. All of the staff is nice and extremely helpful. When I got my kitten I called around to 10+ vets in the area and knew this was the place for me. Even on the phone the staff was very friendly. I know I can contact them with any questions I might have as a new pet owner. They were able to get me in quickly which was great. Right now you can tell they care about animals because they are taking precautions to protect not only themselves from covid, but also the animals that are able to contract it. If youre looking for a vet, I couldnt recommend anyone else more then Oak Tree.
We just got a puppy, our first dog as a family, and Oak Tree was incredibly patient with all of our questions. They gave us easy, practical solutions to our puppy parenting concerns Oak Trees app is extremely helpful, reminds you of appointments and keeps track of medications and shots. Great overall experience! Glad to have them as support with our new family member.
The Doctors and staff at Oak Tre are the hands down the best ever. My dog is almost 9 years old and I have been bringing him to Oak Tree and the service and manner are unequaled. I feel very at easy with Dr. Smith, Dr. Hitchcock. They have a great outlook, always smiling and making my dog and me feel very at ease.I highly recommend Oak Tree for pet care. They dedicate to making your pets feel good and comfortable.
My first visit with my new kitten went very well. The doctor answered my questions, gave me some tips. I thought the price was fair for everything that was done. I had been to other vet hospitals when I was younger, with one of my other cats. How times have changed, for the better. Oak Tree is modern and they have easy ways of staying in touch. I like their app, we can text back and forth. The nurse texted me after Munchkins first vaccines to make sure she was doing OK. That was so nice. I will be a customer for as long as I’m in Cleveland, they have people that care.
I love this place. When I moved to the Heights I used to drive my cats back to Lakewood for their vet visits until I found Oak Tree. They take such good care of my fur-kids! Dr. Smith is just wonderful with my cats. You can really tell he cares about his patients. They have been great managing ongoing health conditions like diabetes and seizures. I totally recommend them.
So unreliable!we moved to a new place so we choose this one as its closed by!firstly, they are such an upsell clinic! they tried to sell long list of unnecessary stuffs for my pup. Some of them are required by the clinic and we had no choice but paying for that.I wish they had told us before we made that appointment with them, abouttheir policy so we could look for another place. But we already showed up, and we did not want to spend another 2 weeks to make an appointment for our pup as she was in need of treatment asap. So we had no choice but paying :)secondly, our pup was in treatment at another vet, and they already forwarded her record there. BUT THE DOCTOR DID NOT LOOK AT IT UNTIL WE DISSCUSS THROUGH THE PHONE AND I ASKED HIM TO DOomg!I cant never trust them again to take care of my pup! there is something called ethic that I think theyre missing!
Not a great vet. Super long wait times, if your appointment is scheduled for 5 pm, expect for your dog or cat not to be seen until 5:45 and then when it is taken back, they rush you out and only glance at the animal. So Im not sure why the long wait times?? Maybe theyre busy thinking about what else they can charge you for before presenting you with your astronomical bill. Also, for how much money they charge for mundane things, you would think they could get a properly working phone system. But of course, they do not. 9 out of 10 times you call Oak Tree Vet, it will go to a busy signal or a fax dial tone. This is VERY frustrating when youre calling about something urgent or when you are at the location calling to have your dog picked up from your car (as no outsider can enter the building since Covid-19). Dont get me started on Heather, the receptionists, attitude. If they want to keep clients maybe they should look into getting new front help.
Made an appointment here for our very sick dog (some form of stomach cancer/tumor), hoping they could get him in for an endoscopy immediately and surgery within a week when others have given us longer wait times up to over a month just for a consult. Oak Tree SEEMED helpful and said they could get us an endoscopy and even possibly surgery the next week so we made two appts and put down a deposit. When we got there, we were told they didnt do endoscopies on site so they would have to wait for their affiliate to be able to do it. Even their own paperwork said here for an endoscopy so imagine our surprise when we were told they dont even perform that procedure. It wasted precious time for our dog who DOES NOT HAVE THE TIME FOR THIS BAIT AND SWITCH. If we had known, we would never have stopped looking for another vet who could do the procedure.
I am a new puppy owner and they help with my confidence in my puppy’s health and also are always a single if any questions come up! The Doctors are so professional and so knowledgeable. The entire staff is great! But it also helps when you have one of the cutest dogs at the Vet office!! :)
Since adopting my dog two weeks ago, I have had a great experience with Oak Tree! Because my dog was adopted from Ashtabula APL they did her initial physical exam without charge. While I could not go into my dogs appointment due to Covid precautions, Dr. Smith took the time to talk with me over the phone and answer all of my questions.
The entire staff at Oak Tree has been nothing but the best for me and puppy. We have been coming here since Raider was a puppy and currently they are treating Raider after he was attacked by another dog. Dr. Smith recommended the best treatment in his professional opinion for Raider’s injuries and after one session of treatment I am already seeing improvements! I trust Oak Tree with Raider’s life and they have never let me down! 10000/10 would recommend for you and your pet!
I have had nothing but terrible experiences with this place. My cat was diagnosed with cancer, starting having complications, and they turned us away, because my husband was 3 minutes late. The phone call re: my cats cancer was extremely unprofessional. The last visit I went to, the vet text me an update, even though I asked them to please call me. All they care about Is money. Please do not go to them. They don’t care all at.
I made my appointment day of and they fit me in which was awesome! The vet answered all my many questions on the phone when we dropped our dog off and talked to the vet from the car. Easy hand off of my dog and seemed relaxed when returned! Will be visiting again if we need anything for our pup!
Pre-COVID, this would have been a 5 star review. The vets have always been compassionate and thorough (though a little on the pricey side). Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with communication during my two curbside visits. The vets were communicating via text message or having techs relay messages back and forth to my car, despite me asking/ begging twice to please just speak to the vet over the phone. I was absolutely positive my cats issues were more complicated than Oak Tree was making them out to be, but felt I was not able to effectively communicate or express my concerns over text. Also felt the appointment was rushed as the doctor stopped answering my texts as soon as I made payment. Im so glad I sought a second opinion, because what Oak Tree insisted was just allergies turned out to be skin cancer. I do still believe they truly care about their patients, but I also hope they understand that texting is not an effective way to run an appointment, and how frustrating it is as a client to not even get a chance to speak to the vet directly.
I take my two Labradors to Oak Tree for their care and we have excellent experiences. The staff have been great in caring for my older labs needs and have helped us as he has aged. The doctors and staff are also excellent with our highly anxious rescue lab. They have been there for us through routine care and a few emergencies. Dr. Smith and Dr. Scollan are the best!
Sadly the first visit I had my pet was too sick and I had to put him down. On a brighter note the staff and doctor was very respectful and considerate of my situation. They showed the utmost sympathy for my pet and took very good care of him. They talked me through the process and helped me to give my pet a very lovely farewell. I recommend this vet 100% to everyone as they really put the effort into knowing and caring for you and your pet. Each individual staff member signed a card with their sympathies for me that I received by mail. It was not only a sweet gesture but it made me feel better to know that they did everything possible for my pet and with the biggest amount of love. Thank you Oak Tree for helping me through my tough time. Youre the best.
Very unhappy with this vet. Went for 2 vaccine boosters, which should have been quick and inexpensive. We were wayyyy overcharged. About $45 additional for a vet check-up, which we ALREADY had done 2 weeks ago and was unneeded. There was nothing to check, and we didnt ask for that service. Plus about $48 for a dog flu vaccine that we did not want or need (it was optional the previous time and I had said no) but they gave it to her anyway. So about $150 for a booster shot appointment that was supposed to be short and with a vet tech only. This clinic charges way too much and doesnt explain the costs ahead of time. Plus due to covid, you only get a few short texts from the vet that definitely are not worth $45 extra. Ive given them about $400 total for 2 non-urgent visits.
I started going to Oak Tree because they were the only vet that could see one of my dogs on short notice when he cut his paw. They are extremely professional and also sensitive of time; I rarely have to wait more than a few minutes to see my provider. They genuinely care about my dogs, and do a good job of keeping me informed without being condescending. I cant recommend them highly enough!
We’ve used Oak Tree Vet for 10 years and have been very satisfied with the treatment our dogs have received. Dr. Smith is such a caring, compassionate man. We recently had to make the difficult decision to put our beloved dog to sleep and he was just as upset as we were, and went out of his way to make sure our last moments with her were peaceful. We’ve recommended them to several neighbors.
Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital is the absolute best. We have been going there for several years now. We decided to go there when we had a cat who didnt like to travel and they were close to our home in Cleveland heights. Years later and a move out to Chagrin Falls we keep coming back. The Vets and technicians are all amazing. The pick up and drop off process during a pandemic is seamless and we just couldnt be happier. Our dog Miles and our cat Fannie do not dread going to Oak Tree, and if that isnt a sign of a wonderful veterinary hospital I dont know what is!
Not only are they great with my diva-cat, they are very thorough and kind. What I like best:1) they are much more cost efficient than other vets I went to when we first moved to Cleveland.2) they are so gentle and patient with my not-so-gentle-and-patient cat.4) they make vet visits less stressful on both me and my furbabies5) scheduling is very inclusive to normal working hours and they are very responsive to my requests for appointments/concerns
It was great! Were able to fit me in for the week I called for (I know some places are booked up/not taking new patients for COVID). Fast service, very transparent about fees, were very excited to treat my kitty, even sent us home with a bag of kitten food! Had a great experience, I will be sure to recommend!
My st. Bernard needs her teeth cleaned. I called around, and most place charge an arm and a leg. Oak Tree was different. Their prices are great! Thats a huge plus when you have a service thats needed, but you dont want to break the bank. Super friendly on the phone and in person. Explained everything clearly, even called back to ask if I had any questions. Looking forward to bringing my dogs here in the future
Very Rude staffs! They gave my pup vaccination, we said we do not need it but they said its clinic policy, ok thats fine. But before and after we paid for, there was no one told us that was 2 shots vaccines.I called and asked them, they do it to everyone and the doctor must have told us. I told them to check their phone record, that doctors never told us about that and we werent aware that we need the second one for our pup. It was expensive, $200 or $300 total for that vaccine, and as we werent aware about the second one so we missed it. They told us to restart everything again, pay again for the first shot.I said it was part of the clinic mistake for not informing us but they refused their responsibly and forced us to pay in full again! i disagree with that and their receptionist HANG UP! Thats unbelievable rude !I called back, they put me on hold forever to ignore my call.I called back again, they said they had someone else calling and there was a long waiting line for them so no more discussion
The staff at OAK TREE VET CLINIC are always caring and kind. We have used this clinic for our current and past two dogs. We cannot fathom using another clinic as they are so caring and wonderful with our pets. We have only superlatives to use in describing this clinic.
Everything was great! I have no complaints! You guys are always super helpful and diligent in your work. Your process through Covid has been wonderful and thoughtful! My boyfriend and I love Oak Tree staff and are so happy we’re able to bring all three of our fur babies to such a trustworthy, caring veterinary office!
We love bringing our senior dog here! She has stomach cancer and a few months back we thought she was a goner! The vets did a great job of giving her plenty of fluids and watching over her for a whole day. After finishing her medicine, she is 100% back to normal and is even a little overweight!! She went from 11 lbs to 20 lbs and we couldn’t be happier!! So glad to have my baby back to her original self. Thank you guys so much!!
Really, really disappointing. Oak Tree was recommended by a friend and I took my two-year-old black lab to Oak Tree for her annual check up after I moved back to Cleveland Heights. My dog is healthy, happy and well-adjusted and the visits should have been in-and-out since she had been overseen by a very competent vet in CT before the move. Instead, and notwithstanding the fact that my dog is healthy, I am out more than $500 for vaccines, at least two of which are unnecessary and one of which is not recommended by other vets.Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital is a vaccine factory.
Took my kitten in for an emergency checkup after she jumped off the balcony--the staff was friendly and thorough, and made sure my girl was all good! They also followed up a few days after the appointment to make sure she was doing well. Great care, will definitely go back.
I have been taking my cats to Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital for ten years and have never been disappointed with the service. They respond promptly to my needs and requests, and they treat my cats so kindly as if they are part of their family. I trust them immeasurably.
This is the best vet practice I have ever experienced. All the doctors have advanced training, covering multiple areas. Their compasiontae, stress free care is the best. These guys and gals are truly committed to the well being of your treasured companion animal - theyre also really good at caring for you when working throgh treatment options and care.
I took my kitten to our regular vet (not here) this morning for her routine vaccinations. After bringing her home, she began having terrible reactions and her other vet just shrugged and told us to find a place that was open. I called Oak Tree in a panic after searching for a place to help us later in the evening and they generously agreed to see her-- I will never go to another vet again besides for Oak Tree. The staff was so compassionate, also to me as I was a wreck thinking my kitten was going to die, they took the best care of her and now she is sleeping it off happily in my lap. I am so thankful for them (and by the way, the pricing was more than reasonable). We will be loyal for life and I cant wait to go back under much healthier circumstances. Thank you so much Kayla and Dr. Nicholl!
My experience with the Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital and their staff has always been positive. The Vets, Vet Techs & other staff are knowledgeable, outstanding professionals who clearly love animals. I recently referred another friend who is a new dog owner, and she called to tell me that she was very happy she had taken her dog to them and liked the vet & vet tech she met, as well as everyone else she met there during her dogs appointment.
I am giving this clinic 1 star because they require 2 visits to become established even for healthy animals and they refuse to approve any online prescription orders for routine medications like flea and tick medication. The care here has been fine. My dog is also healthy and uncomplicated, so I feel it also doesnt really matter where I take her to get her vaccinations.I should have picked a different vet when they told me my dog had to be seen twice in order to get prescriptions for heartworm and flea/tick meds, but unfortunately it took until now (almost a year later) for me to make the switch. I took my dog in for her visit last Saturday and all was well, but when they wrote the 6 month prescription for our flea/tick med that they do not carry and will not order for us, they wrote it incorrectly, and I told the tech this. She assured me it was fine, and that the clinic would approve the medication when I ordered it through Chewy. Come to find out this clinic has a strict policy with Chewy that Chewy cannot call/email/reach out at all - the clinic refuses to approve anything. The customer has to go to the additional burden of mailing in the prescription. Because it was written incorrectly, I had to call the clinic again, and then play phone messenger with Chewy and the clinic. I am so over this place. It should not be this hard to get something routine like flea and tick medication (and side note, I cant switch her medication, because last time I did that she got dimadex mites all over and shed most of her coat - it was awful).Very excited to be switching my care to Shaker Square, who informed me that they are happy to approve prescription requests for routine medications and will not force me to have my healthy dog seen twice in four weeks to become established. Also, they charge way less for a visit. My advice is dont waste your money. I have lived in several states over the past 8 years and have never had this much difficulty with a clinic!
Very pleased with the annual check up and vaccinations for our year old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. The service is consistently good at Oak Tree—pleasant personnel check-in, helpful technicians and Dr Hitchcock was very thorough in covering Maggie Mae’s current health status and dental recommendations.
Excellent staff that makes you feel safe leaving your pets in their care. They have a very safe feeling set up in place for COVID-19 precautions and i feel like they truly connect with your pets and establish a great relationship with both you and your animals. Keith and Fran don’t enjoy the doctor but they make it as quick and easy as possible for them and me.
I have been taking my girls (pups) to this practice since Dr. Mandel owned it. My girls have been treated by this practice since they were both 9 weeks old. The pups are now 8 and 12.5 years of age. All the staff have always been friendly and caring. Both gals have received excellent patient care. The younger furbaby has had several health issues which require frequent monitoring as well as past surgery. The Docs and Vet techs are always available to address questions and concerns during regular business hours.
The curbside service at Oak Tree Vet was very professional and efficient. My kitty Alberta had her check-up and shots and the discussion with the doctor and administration happened over the phone from my car. Alberta is loved by the vet and staff at this animal hospital.
I was looking for a new vet since our dog was getting older and was concerned that he didn’t have one. I found Oak Tree veterinary was following the COVID protocols and felt very safe. The vet actually came outside to speak with me in the parking lot. I did not feel pressured to pay for anything I didn’t feel was necessary. I am very happy there.
My dog is somewhat reactive and the team at Oak Tree does a phenomenal job of putting her, and me, at ease. They are extremely professional and thorough. If they say they will call on Monday with test results, you can be sure they will call on Monday. Their clinic is top notch and we wouldnt go anywhere else.
They are so kind and knowledgeable, and treat each animal with special care and attention. A few years ago (when I was living on my own for the first time and still learning to do things on my own, so I was very panicky) I had a guinea pig who I found struggling to breathe when I came home from class, and they were the only vet still open, but only for a couple more minutes. I was very emotionally distraught and called and told the receptionist everything, and he told me to come on in anyway and was very understanding and concerned. They ended up staying open an extra 45 minutes to care for my pet, and treated us with so much compassion. Unfortunately, she still passed, but she had pneumonia and was already too far gone, and I know they did everything they could to help her and really cared. They called the next day to check up on her, which I appreciated a lot. Ive been bringing all my other pets to them since then. Theyre awesome.
I would give it 0 star if I can. I have negative experience here! Here is their issues, which I believed was mentioned in many other reviews:Rude staff?Yes! Even their doctor are so rude as well. When you have issues and you call, they gonna hang up or put you on hold forever to ignore your call 🥵Expensive?Yes!All they can think of is trying to upsell their unecessary medical services. In this case, price doesn’t go with quality!Shady?Yes! They gonna trick you to pay for some stupid things or duplicate tests, so be aware! They don’t deserve to call themselves a vet. They are a shop! No more!
Dr. Smith treated my kitty boy with loving care. He spent a lot of time examining him and teaching me what he found as he assessed Frankies health. All the costs were explained to me and I did not feel pressure to do a lot of extra tests. I also received a phone call the very next day to report the results and to determine the plan for Frankies care. I highly recommend Oak Tree veterinary hospital.
We treat our pets as family members, so does the staff at Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital. Losing a pet is one of the hardest things a pet parent can go through. Both Dr Smith & Dr Hitchcock guided us through the process, they treated both our pet and us with love & respect. They even checked on us the following day. We are happy to say that since then we have adopted 2 kittens and ONLY Oak Tree Veterinary will take care of our girls. Did I mention we travel 40 miles one way to Oak Tree.... we would have it no other way. Our thanks to the entire staff. Chuck & pauline
I have recently took my 5 month old kitten i had rescued in to Oaktree. He was very very sick. Doctor Hitchcock was very friendly. But they didn’t give him any medication for any of my kittens symptoms. She gave me a pre paid fecal container to get a fecal test done and looked at his eyes and gave a body exam. I walked out paying almost 200 dollars for pretty much nothing. Then I sat in the parking lot today for an hour and a half waiting for the medication they are giving after the fact. Non of the vet techs knew about the medication doctor Hitchcock knew about to fill for my cat. I called them on the phone and they completely forgot about me and I had to call back and then the receptionist had to get ahold of Doctor Hitchcock to figure out what medication my cat needed. I got eye medication and some metro. Came out to 62 dollars. I don’t recommend this place.
The staff is warm and friendly very helpful.Dr Scott has been my pets veterinary for yearsHas always had my pets best interest at heartAnd has always willing to take time to talk over concerns I have about my pets health .Know that the other Veterinary in the pictureWould be the same kind and friendly.
I brought my cat into Oak Tree after she got very sick. I was able to get an appointment the same day. Dr. Scollan and the team there were very kind and took the time to examine my cat And run the tests needed to find out what was wrong with her. They took her health very seriously and answered every question and concern I had. Thanks to them my cat is back to being a healthy, spoiled girl.
They dont really care about your animals health, unless you have a pocket full of money! They treated my dog and gave him a Rabies shot, although they knew he was going to pass away. I spent over $500.00, and they failed to inform me of his chances of surving! And then wanted me to pay over 1000.00 to treat him overnight. So I took him to Gateway Animal Clinic and got a second opinion. They are the best and honest animal doctors, and they really, really care! Whoever reads this, I suggest you take your sick animal to Gateway Animal Hospital! They care and work with you, Financially!!!
The service at this place was amazing and quick. We had found a stray kitten and the person we spoke to for guidance and assistance was helpful! They got our kitten in within 24 hours and made sure that she was ok. I will be making Oak Tree Vet the place we turn to for the care if our pet! Thanks
My hamster was very sick, needed to be seen ASAP and Oak Tree was the only place that would take her in. I ended up having to chose to put her down and they were so kind and supportive with everything. They even sent me a sympathy card. Thank you Oak tree, your staff is amazing
Oak tree vet is nice at first glance but dont be fooled. They do not care one bit about your animals health or longevity. Oak tree will charge you maximum price for ANY service performed even if no doctor is involved and your pet is with them for less than 5 full minutes. On a much bigger note Oak tree refused to give my dogs medical records to me unless I paid a fee, which after speaking to other vets Im almost positive this is illegal. This kind of misconduct will not go unnoticed by me or others I will be alerting of such activity.one last thing. they wanted to charge me over 200 dollars for something a better vet only charged me $86 for. save your money.comical that they commented saying its not true when they literally told me they would not give me the records and forced me to tell them what vet I needed them sent to.
If I could give zero I would. I took my dog there because she had a thick drool coming from her mouth. the doctor did an exam and told me that blood work was needed which we did. I was told it was pancreatitis and they were putting together a plan for me.The next day the dog was drooling from both sides of her mouth. I took her to Shaker Hts Animal Clinic. They did their exam, and believe it or not, when they did the exam they opened the dogs mouth to see inside. ( I was there at Oak Tree and this was not done. I should have insisted, but that is water over the damn ). The dog had a mass the size of a golf ball in the back of her throat on her tongue.Oak Tree may be good at routine checkups and visits but if you want real care for your animal I suggest you take it somewhere else. The vet. at Shaker Hts Animal Clinic spent 30 minutes with me discussing next steps and options. I got better care and paid less at Shaker Hts Animal Clinic. Oak Tree is a factory moving animals in and out to make the extra buck. The dog is doing well after surgery, no thanks to the plan that oak Tree was putting together for me. Oh yeah, and those high levels that Oak Tree told me was pancreatitis were due to the stress the dog was under from the mass in its mouth.
The staff was wonderful, and even let me borrow a carrier for my pet because mine had broken. Overall was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be returning with my cat. They answered all of my questions and gave me multiple options for issues my cat was having, keeping in mind that I am a college student and can’t afford large vet bills.
You guys were fabulous from start to finish. I felt so safe with my cat with you. Dr. Hitchcock spent a long time on the phone with us explaining the results after and I was amazed at how she didnt seem to want to rush off the phone and spent time answering all my questions. The only thing is that after we talked to the doctor, she said the tech would bring us forms and info on the stuff we spoke about, but when the tech came out with our cat, she didnt have the forms or know what we were talking about. So to make our experience even better I would say to focus on the summary/wrapping up after the appt. Thanks again!
I took my dog Bristol to oak tree and I couldnt of been happier to have done so. She woke up one morning very sick with breathing issues. I called her vet but they were booked. After calling numerous vets close to me in parma I stumbled upon oak tree on the internet, they were the only one I had called that day to not only listen to me describe her symptoms but also managed to fit her in their schedule the same day and their price was very reasonable. Once I got there i knew i couldnt go in because of covid so i was a bit nervous, but one of the employees came out to get here and she was also beyond nice and listened to me describe what my concerns were with Bristol. Once she was in I was called and the vet was also extremely kind and helpful. They treated her with great care, the prices were very fair, and they even contacted me the next day to check in with bristol. I live in parma but oak tree will now be where all three of my girls will go. I would reccomend to any pet parent.
Dr. Tracey is just absolutely fantastic. They are taking such wonderful care of my two cats. I could not be happier. I have been going there for over 4 years now. My mother takes her two cats there as well and her next-door neighbor and their dog. Just wonderful people.
I have my reservations regarding this clinic. Referred by a friend and I decided to book an appointment before doing further research - partly my fault as I was too busy to take the effort to look at other options. Agree with previous reviewers on how it felt like the staff will try to get you to do certain tests and medications. But again partly my fault for not doing proper research prior to going to the appointment.I wasnt happy to be told that vaccines from store clinics such as petsmart, petco, etc are inferior than theirs due to poor quality and that getting vaccines from those in store clinics are looked down upon. Mind you my pets first vaccine was completed at one of these store clinics but from the breeder I adopted the pet from, not me.Next, I was confidently told that my pets potbelly - he just ate prior to the appointment - was due to worms despite having received dewormer 3 weeks prior and is an indoor cat. Also was disapproving the type of dewormer, STRONGID, that was completed at the in store clinic yet this was the same exact dewomer they gave my pet afterwards. Overall, a better interaction would have been to only suggest the possibility of worms, not to confidently state that his distended belly was due to worms.I was then shown the total price of the tests that were going to be done, but later it ended up being 20 dollars more for dewormer medication they added, which doesnt quite make sense to me because I thought we had discussed first testing for parasites in the stool (40 dollar test). I should have declined the test and just went for the dewormer directly because ordering that test would not have changed management because we were treating it anyway. I believe the enteric stool test also tests for giardia, but personally I think there should be some clinical judgement in ordering tests as my pets stool and overall symptoms were not consistent with giardia infection. But at the end of the day more tests = more money.Again, I should have done my research prior to going to this appointment but I had agreed to the Felv and HIV test which turned out to be 77 dollars and after looking online, most other places charge half the price. There is no treatment for Felv or HIV, and perhaps I should have deferred that test - or actually do it at a cheaper place - because again that test would not change management. The bill also noted 1 out of 2 for this combo test, which I asked why a second test would be necessary and I was told that humans can carry FIV, which is false. Viruses need a host and for FIV, that is cats not humans. I do not appreciate being told false medical information. When my pet went off to blood work, he was referred to as she, not he. He also returned back with a blood bathe all over the blood draw site. I wasnt quite happy to see that.I am not confident that I will come back for a second appointment. I have a few conclusions and the following feedbackOverall, this clinic is on the pricer side. I do not doubt the quality of medical care provided but also have not experienced it outside of a routine physical exam appointment.Owners, please do proper research prior to selecting a vet clinic/hospital and regarding your animals healthPlease only allow your providers (DVM) to discuss with the client about tests/medications and not any accessory staff who do not always have the correct medical knowledge
Ive been taking my dog Ruby here since I got her 3 years ago and still go here even though I moved from Cle Hts. I like that they use the petdesk app it makes scheduling and asking for refills easy. It also lets you see all the things shes gotten done in the past. Theres also a rewards to it.Recently they helped me trim her dew claw after it broke for free! I will always be grateful for that. Thanks again
I love this clinic. Been taking my dogs here for years (it used to be Mandel), and the techs and Dr. Smith are always enthusiastic, patient and remember us like were the only client they have. They arent 24/7, so after-hour emergencies have to go elsewhere (thankfully Ive never had one of those!), but I wont bring my pets anywhere else if I can help it.
We have had Doctor Hitchcock as a primary Vet for the last 10 years from her time at Aurora Veterinary to following her to her own practice in Cleveland Heights. There is no one we trust more and having gotten to know Doctor Smith and the whole staff at Oak Tree Veterinary we would recommend their care and service to anyone. Bruno is in great hands!
Very outraged! I have taken my dog to Oak Tree Veterinary formally know as Mandel Veterinary for several well checks since 2012. Dr. Carlson suggested having an oral cleaning for my 5 year old Dachshund. I agreed. When I took my dog for an oral cleaning 12/13/16, I was livid to learn that he had 30 teeth extracted without my prior knowledge or consent. What turned out to be a cleaning and polishing was an $1,100 traumatic, life altering experience for my dog and family. I entrusted the Dr and staff with my dogs oral care and received 3 conflicting reasons for this horrific, experience that has forever changed our lives. Be very leery taking your dog here for an oral cleaning! Done doing business here!
I went here knowing it might be slightly price but hopeful. When I was there I felt pressured to sign things and was told my cat would die if I did not buy the test and vaccine. She was already tested and I found out later from another vet that this often occurs here. I was charged around $120.00 for these two things AND it required a booster of the vaccine that only outdoor cats require. I tried to contact them and received no help besides you signed it when I was confused and told my pets life was in danger. I am still trying to get in touch with a higher up and will edit this review if they right the current situation. The vet I showed my invoice to marked that all the prices were 25-50% higher than a normal vet and said that another person got quoted $1,200 for a dental procedure that was $500 else where. There is nothing special about this place that suggests the mark up in prices. Just go elsewhere, youll wait forever and get charged for the same thing here.
Expensive. Very expensive. Needed insulin for my cat. She had already been diagnosed with diabetes and had been doing well on insulin for about 6 months. When that insulin started running low I tried to get more online (around $60) but the web site said the vet refused the prescription. To get more had to go in and get more blood work done. $400 later finally got another vial of insulin, 0 refills. Will be looking for another vet.
They are ok, thorough as any vet Ive ever taken my rather healthy and physically fit golden retriever too, but I cant help feel they are adding as much to the bill as they possibly can. Feels like they have you over a barrel, know it, and I honestly dont like the feeling I get from their practice.Biggest case in point based on my most recent experience would be trying to get heartgard medication for my dog. I dont understand why this is such a big deal, but you need a prescription for it. They can see that he is due, but rather than just faxing over his prescription to 1800-pet -meds, where I can get his heartgard for almost half what they want ($38 vs Oak Trees $65 for 6 months), they demure on the phone and insist on filling it later since he has an upcoming appointment. Im really dissatisfied with that sort of service. You cant fax a prescription over for meds he needs? Theres no reason other than the fact that they know they can overcharge you. Seems like a shadow of extortion really while one is trying to care for their pet. It clearly doesnt show interest in the pets health or the customer. We are about to move out of state, I may actually look for an alternate vet and deny them the last check up business before we leave. Seems like the only option I have that lets me stick up for basic economics.
Ive been going here for the past two years and they have always been super kind to my Pitbull. He actually lives going there because of all the treats he gets. Staff has always been knowledgeable and willing to work with me on things. They also take the time to look at everything and consider all the options of a strange case. Would definitely recommend.
This is a post I left on the Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital Facebook page some time ago and thought it would be helpful to others on this Google review page. I will also add that after I took my pet to another Veterinary practice, who found that my pet had a severe UTI, Dr. Smith sent me a rude letter, instructing me not to contact clinic again. Needless to say, that was the exact evidence I needed to understand why his staff was unapologetic and apathetic in their approach to customers who champion their pets health. I thought about taking these people to court for their malpractice, but thanks to my current veterinarian saving my pet, I am able to forgive their ignorance and apathic behavior. However I do believe that an informed pet owner is an empowered one.FACEBOOK POST:Several staff members of this Veterinary clinic need to be replaced. Their level of apathy and ignorance is unparalleled. Policies, practices and procedures are NOT set in stone and exceptions can always be made. When a customer requests to speak to the business owner, the staff should never say no or attempt to bock the request being made. It is their job to pass the message to the business owner. If the business owner sets a polices in place, it is typically because the staff has made errors in the past and the policy is to provide continuity of service. If the policy does not obtain positive results, the business will lose customers and the business will suffer financial loss.My recommendation is to listen to your customers needs and set policies that align with those needs. Do not change your standard practices, procedures or policies and expect your uninformed long term customers, who have been loyal to your business, to be satisfied with your arbitrary change. You must first inform your customers of your procedural changes at the time we spend our hard earned money with you. Point-in-case, when a customer obtains preventative services and your clinic does not carry a medication requested at the time of service, it is your duty to inform the customer that if we use a product that your clinic does not have on hand, and that if we choose to purchase the product online and a prescription is required, we should be informed at the time of service that we will need to pick up the prescription once the relevant results are available for the prescription to be written and it is our obligation to mail the prescription to the online pharmacy. You should do this prior to services being rendered. The customer should always be given the option to either agree to your practice, policies and procedures or choose another Vet who can provide the customer with the LEVEL OF SERVICE WE ARE LOOKING FOR!For me, this issue is really the last straw issue for me, after several slights in the recent past by members of your office staff. It is SAD that you (Dr. Smith and Dr. Hitchcock), allow staff members to treat customers with apathy and absolutely no regard for pet health. Good luck and best wishes!
When we brought our pet, they did like a quote, the lady told us that we could do the shots and treatments 1 by one.We scheduled for the next day.So I picked the one I thought was a priority. What was on my budget, and I told the lady that we would come the following week to finish his treatments. They went on and did it all. It was double what I was planning on paying.Apparently, the lady didn’t tell the doctor about the plan.I had to wait for my husband to run to the ATM and go get some money so we could pay for the total. I felt soooo bad ! like a crazy broke woman who don’t care about her pet ............Other than that, they are nice, clean and friendly.
Had to take my pooch to be checked out for a little bump on his leg during this pandemic. The staff were prompt, kind and made everything so easy! Sat in the car as a health precaution during the service, and all billing was done over the phone. Couldnt have been a better process!
This place is all about taking x-rays and $$$$You look on Next door the neighborhood website and everyone talks about how expensive this place is and recommends other vets. Its a shame because I live so close to there. And now have to drive all the way out to my original vet. Woodmere vet. But at least they dont string me along.
I just called this office to take my pup in because she has an eye infection. Ive never been here before and there asking for a prepay before coming in for the office visit. Never in my entire life have I ever prepaid for a vet visit and I will not be starting now!! Shame on you for taking advantage of people. Theres no way this can be legal.
Thats right, 5 stars for this caring and compassionate team of professionals. I screeched into their parking lot in an all-out panic and hysterical because my cat Moxie was gravely ill and I feared that he was dying. Wed just suffered one death; the death of Lindseys (10 yrs old) father exactly one month before and Lindsey, my ten-year-old was comforted by Moxie and had even said his comfort eliminated the need for grief counseling. Once it was understood Moxie was gone I was simply inconsolable and was beyond reason in my grief spiral; the world seemed like an awful place to have my daughter Lindsey experience two losses so close in time and my pet for over ten years who I was playing with only moments before he fell down the basement stairs, gone, inexplicably our lives had changed forever in too many ways all at once. But I came to the right place. The people at this hospital took care of me until I could regain my composure enough to drive my car. I will forever be grateful for their professionalism and compassion. They also helped me by holding Moxie to give Lindsey a safe place to view him and to say goodbye. They handled Moxies remains and gave me cremation options that REALLY HELPED us to give Moxie a dignified end.
Super Expensive and Rude Staff. I recently moved to the Cleveland Heights area in March 2018 and I was looking for a solid vet in the area to take my 13 year old yellow lab. However, it seemed like each time I called and asked what a procedure would cost or showed up for a visit, I would get some ridiculous high estimate and charged a stupid amount of money. Stay away unless you want to get robbed by a shady vet operation.
My pupperinos go here, the vet techs and docs are very informative, patient, and helpful with everything that relates to animals as well as their customer care. I appreciate these people for helping my doggos. P.S. Dr. Bryn was the reason I came lol. Shes a sight for sore eyes, literally.
Terrible place they do not care about their customers I have been with them for years. And yet they treated me like trash correction a worker named Katherine treated me like trash.Im in a wheelchair so I cant travel as fast as someone else so I called to let them know I was sorry 4 being a few minutes late and that I was pulling up but she told me that it was pointless they wouldnt fit me in anymore even tho I went through hell to get there so I then said well if u cant fit me in after I just went through hell Ill find a new vet and she didnt care not one bit. So OK thanks for showing you guys dont care about your customers.
They don’t care for animals at all trust I had a situation to where my wife found a kitten outside her brothers graduation and brought it home she couldn’t keep it there because she has dogs there and she was leaving on a trip the next day so she brought it to me and I couldn’t keep it because of work so my first thought was to bring it to these “vets” thinking they will be more then glad to watch it for at least a hour so they can call the right people to pick it up nope wrong they seemed very short, uncaring, showed no emotion to this kitten I will never bring my pets to this place

2022-06-15I can’t say enough about Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital. The doctors are everything we wanted in regards to taking care of our young pup. They are so knowledgeable, caring and loving in handling him. We have complete and utter confidence in them! Their staff also are exceptional when it comes to customer service and accommodations. From the moment you walk in, you can’t help but feel completely cared for, listen to and treated with ultimate kindness. If you are at all on the fence about going to Oak Tree, don’t be! It will be the best decision you will make regarding the health and wellness of your animal…..well, second best……the first was deciding to have a forever pet in your life in the first place!

2022-05-23We recently adopted a rescue who had been cared for at Oak Tree while she was in foster. When something came up soon after adoption, that I found concerning, I called them to make an appointment. The receptionist was super helpful, got us an appointment within 24 hrs, took all the intake info over the phone and explained where to park and enter with my pup. Upon arrival everyone was super helpful and we were shown to a room immediately. It was all so stress free and our girl was well taken care of!

2022-06-09The doctors and staff at Oak Tree are fantastic. I have been taking my rescue babies there for a couple of years now and the compassion and care they receive is above and beyond. The doctors went over and above to help me with options when it came time to think about euthanasia for one of my pets, and her assistance was more than greatly appreciated. I love Oak Tree Vet!

2022-05-19Cash is a Nervous Ninny of a dog, but at Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital he was not nervous at all! The Caregivers there made him feel loved and secure. As a night shift nurse, I appreciate the 7A to 7P hours on most days. It really helps me to take care of my beloved pup and fit his appointments into my busy, crazy schedule.

2022-04-01We are new to the area and struggled a bit finding a vet that was accepting new clients. Since finding Oak tree, it has been easy to schedule all of our appointments. We also recently got our dogs nails clipped for the first time since we moved. One of our dogs is on medication when she gets her nails done because of anxiety. She has been quicked in the past and it has made keeping her nails trimmed a challenge. They had absolutely no problems doing her nails and it was such a relief! We will continue going to Oak Tree as they have been great to us!

2022-06-28Dr. Scollan has been wonderful. She saw my golden retriever for a very rare paw injury the other vets couldn’t figure out. She was supportive and helpful throughout the entire experience. The staff at Oaktree veterinary Hospital was also super helpful and they texted me with updates and asked me if I had any questions. Since then, I have had other issues come up with my dog here and there and this veterinary hospital has always been excellent in providing availability and attention to their clients.

2022-08-24The lady that came in for the payment seemed very rude and didn’t have no heart for the situation we were in. Seemed money hungry. Otherwise, I loved the vet who came and weighed him. She was gentle, made my cat comfortable, and understood our situation. Same with the doc.

2022-05-09Got me in same day while other hospitals turned me away. My puppy had parvo and it devastated us. From the moment we arrived the team helped us understand the virus, administered treatment over a course of two days, and sent us home with great instruction.. I truly appreciate everyone and will be back for future appointments, so glad I came here.Update: Sign up for the Perks program/download the app it comes in handy!
