I was very excited to try Nuevo. I used to frequent the Akron location. Toward the end of its existence, the service went downhill and it felt like some corners were starting to get cut on the food. I was hoping this location would have a little more success. Our service was okay at the bar, though I did get a sense of the bartender playing favorites a bit which bummed us out. The food is my main complaint. We both got an item off the taco menu, and we both had terribly under seasoned food. There was almost no salt at all, and the general choice of seasonings and marinade was bland. It was to the point where we stopped using the tortillas because they had so much more flavor than the actual taco ingredients that all you could taste was corn. After spending over $100 (and getting charged for a carafe of margarita what most places charge for a pitcher) I was pretty bummed out. Having worked in end upscale Latin restaurant with specialty margaritas and a very similar menu to Nuevo, I expected more. There are plenty of restaurants in the same avenue as Nuevo who have better developed flavor with more food for a lesser price, so I dont feel a need to return. :(
Great service, great views, and great food! The host staff was very friendly. Maddy, our waitress, was phenomenal during a busy time. The outdoor patio has a breathtaking view of the city. Highly recommend the chorizo burrito. Right next to the restaurant are sand volleyball courts and a nice paved area with a good water view as well. Maybe the only down side was not having a water view on the first floor outdoor patio at the actual restaurant, but that was a minor thing for us. Would definitely recommend!!
Good ambiance overall and absolutely amazing views of the lake. Food was a bit spicy for no reason, had a bad stomach ache later. Server was great and explained all the drinks in detail. Desserts are awesome as well. The hostess was a little rude. Tables outside were dirty and needs cleaned often.
Nice on the lake restaurant. We visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum and wanted good food to eat. We walked to this lovely restaurant. My husband got a burrito with rice and beans. It was a very good burrito but he did not like the sauce on top of it. My daughter and I got the quesadillas with rice and street corn. Delicious! Yummy food and friendly service! If you don’t want fast food at the R&R Hall of fame Museum, take a short walk (or drive) to Nuevo and get good filling Mexican food.
High quality ingredients and excellent service. The staff greeted us with warm smiles and were very kind. The water was good tasting. The verde salsa was top notch and had the perfect bit of smokiness to it. The fresh salsa was also very good. The queso had a rich full bodied flavor that would be worth getting again. The bathrooms are clean and very well kept. I really enjoy the overall atmosphere and upbeat music.
This place is awesome! The food, drinks, and atmosphere are amazing. The wait staff was soon nice and very attentive. It is great for a date or a group outing. Reservations are highly suggested. Accept the wait staffs suggestions because we were definitely happy with them. Definitely recommend!
The shrimp tacos were excellent, the pineapple habanero sauce was perfectly hot and flavorful and the margarita pitcher was a great deal! Servers were friendly and I loved the view. That being said they must have been having a really bad day when we were there, the chips werent very tasty and corn tortillas were cold and stale. The salsa trio wasnt anything to write home about, and the taco plate was fairly expensive for the amount of food you got. Im not going to do 3 stars because Im a business owner myself and hate getting those, but I hope someone sees this and switches things up a bit!
We loved the space at Nuevo, but it was too small for our wedding reception. We ended up using them for our rehearsal dinner and it was perfection! Erin made sure everything was decorated beautifully! The food and drinks were fantastic. It was the loveliest evening with family and friends.
We came here for my husbands birthday dinner. The food was cold when it came out. Tasted like it had been sitting for a couple of hours. Our waitress was really nice and provided good service. But, I would’ve rather eaten Taco Bell. We we’re sat next to the kitchen/cook staff and they were acting loud and unprofessional the entire dinner. Yelling at eachother and messing around. More focused on messing around with their coworkers than making quality food. Overall it was an unpleasant experience and I would not go back. The food was 0/10. We were so shocked because this is a restaurant on the pier and we had higher expectations.
Highly disappointed with our experience. We arrived an hour before they closed and it seemed that they were ushering us out quickly (didnt even bother to offer us dessert or coffee). We only enjoyed three dishes: chips + guacamole (high price for the amount we were served ) and steak. The potatoes that came with the steak were not evenly cooked. We asked for the side of spicy potatoes with habanero ketchup. When it arrived, it came with regular ketchup- I had to ask the waitress for the correct menu ketchup. She came back saying that they ran out- was disappointed that this info was not share beforehand. Not recommended to anyone who is seeking really good Mexican food.
We stumbled upon Nuevo today while on a trip to the Museum. Melissa our waitress was terrific. The service with a smile and energy on this cold day was a pleasure surprise. The food is excellent: Cuban sandwich, shrimp & chicken tacos were a big hit. A must every time we come down to the waterfront.
Super cool spot in a marina on the north side of Cleveland, OH. to grab dinner. The food was excellent and the beer was supreme! The Goggle Frogger and the Columbia Summer Teeth Lager are both really good. We went on a Wednesday evening in July about 6pm and we had about an hour wait till we could get a table. But there was a nice wait area where you could get some drinks and chips and wait for your table and just hang out. Super popular spot though so just keep that in mind.
First time here and it was awesome. I love Mexican food so this was right up my alley! From the drinks to my charizo burrito, everything was good! Even our server was great, made sure we had everything we needed, even got to eat outside! Had a volleyball court in the back too! Will definitely be back totry something new!?
It’s ok.This place gets a ton of traffic due to its location but I always approach “fusion”‘restaurants lightly. Typically, they do a lot of things but none particularly well. Nuevo is no different. Weird texture combinations. Some bland and downright bad twists on food that doesn’t need it and a high price to justify the “new” dishes. I wouldn’t be back. Had the Al Pastor and Korean BBQ tacos and wasn’t a fan of either.
I can’t thank the staff of Nuevo Modern, especially Jennifer, enough. My husband and I got married there on New Years Eve, 2020. It was very difficult to plan a wedding, but once I connected with Jennifer everything got easier. She was more than willing to accommodate our small pandemic wedding and she went out of her way to make it perfect. Her accommodations and recommendations were on p. She and her staff set everything up for us, as we live in another state, and coordinated with my husband’s mom as well to make sure everything was perfect for us. We had a Christmas-themed wedding, and the upstairs location was beautifully set up for us with a very functional and socially-distanced layout. Despite the pandemic and our wedding plans being different than what we originally had in mind, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. They provided us with sound equipment, the perfect layout, and all the things that an expert remembers on the day of. I could write another entire paragraph dedicated to their food, it was all five stars or more, but I have to give a mention to the goat cheese guacamole that they have seasonally. Outstanding. Thank you Jennifer, we couldn’t have had our perfect wedding day without you!I attached a few photos to show how thoughtful the setup was, and another photo of how nice of a spot the balcony is for taking photos! They decorated the space so beautifully - I was the bride and didnt see it beforehand, and it was just.. perfect.
The restaurant is beautiful and right next to the water! The food was excellent - I had a mango marguerita with a cinnamon sugar rim, guacamole and salsa and queso with chorizo and tortilla chips - delicious! and my meal were shrimp tacos and I switched out the rice for the sweet corn grits - heaven! And our server was great as well!!
This place is absolutely amazing!!! Great views, better food, and even better drinks. Nuevo is located in a great spot to take in great views of Lake Erie, has a great menu, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you are thinking of attending here for a night out, I highly recommend you do so, but be prepared to be back!!!
I think it needs improvement in food quality, presentation and taste. The chips are stale, the sopes are dried out, the flavor is off, the food is too salty, the drinks are too sweet and there is a limited selections of dishes. The best things I had were the fruit slices that came with our drinks. The food is overpriced, not just expensive, and the staff is apathetic and so over worked that they can’t even focus on making sure their customers are enjoying their food. Having a restaurant in a great location is not a substitute for the quality of food. In addition, we were told that we would be texted in 15 minutes when our table was ready and we waited 45 minutes before going to the counter and they showed us to our table; they never texted us.
Beautiful location with a great patio. Food seemed generic, soulless and institutional. Our server was indifferent though the others around us seemed really warm and friendly. The runner fixed all the mistakes our server made. Good drinks and decent beers on tap. Inside decor seemed a bit cold and cafeteria-like. Good choice for lunch if youre at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but I wouldnt make it a destination.
Overall I had an above average experience there. The server was excellent she saved the day.The food was good.Even though I went for a specific dish and cocktail that was recommended to me which wasnt available. Due to some technical difficulties on this day they had a limited menu.I feel like this could have been a five star experience. Maybe willing to give them another try in the near future. I will keep you posted
The views of the lake and of downtown are great! The vibe inside is clean, modern, and colorful. We ordered the guac, which was a bit small for the price. We also tried the crema pollo and tamales, which were pretty good. Decent portion sizes. Friendly staff. You can sit by the water while you wait for a table. Would take someone from out of town here just for the views!
Our original waitress was Brittany. For some reason she was unable to serve us and never informed the other waitress that she was going to serve us. I had to inform the hostess table no one came to serve us after waiting 15 minutes. Not a great experience to celebrate my sister’s birthday. However Holly the other waitress was very apologetic for Brittany’s rudeness. However not looking back on returning. Kinda felt away. :(
We were excited to try Nuevo out. They have a great looking patio but we were told it was closed due to the may flies however we didnt see one mayflie while we were there. The pictures of food on their website looked amazing only to go and find out that they have a different menu all together. The margaritas where decent but prolly would have gone down better on the patio with a beautiful view. We did get habanero jelly guacamole and the queso and those were good. We got birria quesada and it was very greasy and bland. Our waitress Jillian was amazing she did a great job and truly cared and wanted up to be happy.
We strolled here after attending a Cleveland Guardians game and we will be back many more times to enjoy more items on the menu. If you find your way here, ask for Adam - very knowledgeable about the menu and a great host. We enjoyed a Paloma and an Oaxacan Old Fashioned - both delicious. We had the homemade smoked salsa - cleaned the bowl! Lastly, we ordered the Birria Ramen - YUM!! The location is phenomenal, great views!! Not an overwhelming menu; what they do, they do very well ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This place is ridiculous. First of all, it’s rarely open so you can’t just come in for a quick bite to eat whenever you are downtown. Secondly, ITS SO EXPENSIVE!!! My girl and I went here not too long ago and we got some basic Mexican appetizers and food (chips and salsa, chicken and rice entrees). The food tasted like any other Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been too but double the price. When I got the bill the total was over $100. We both didn’t even finish our food because it was so bland and boring. If I can give this place Zero stars I would!
Came here about 1 hour ago (carry out)...Customer Service was great (Aubrey), food on the other hand, HORRID. Not my first time here came during Covid food was excellent (flavor etc.) This time around rice taste like it came out of box(the box rice tastes better) no flavor what so ever, the Pollo Crema was burnt, the tried to cover up with the Crema (didnt work) maybe chefs were having a bad day!Expect better Calidad (Quality)cause this place aint cheap, maybe they make better food for you, if you eat in (not going to try again though)Spend your hard earned money somewhere else, sad to say.
It was very bland and boring, they obviously have like one spice that they put on everything and it tasted like those little orange packets of Sazón Goya. Im really not a fan and as a vegetarian I noticed there werent many options for me. Overall I wouldnt go there again or recommend it for anyone I know
We ordered the 2 top priced meals on the menu. after waiting 20 minutes for the chips and drinks. we should of left once we werent served .since visiting Cleveland was a family event I chose to stay. the kids chicken meal was burnt. my steak came out on top of some fried potatoes. seriously on top..wow ot.was definatly some green sauce all along the steak.. 46 for the best plate of steak and froen baby potatoes. lol.ajoke. nice view though..
There was a limited menu. Perhaps this is a draw but would have preferred more traditional Mexican/Tex Mex dishes.Margaritas were quite good. The pork was good but not a lot of seasoning.Salsas were OK.The beans, pickled onions, pickles and BBQ sauce were the highlights. The bok Choi slaw was OK.Queso dip was OK.Service was good.
If I could rate below this I would. My wife and I and our two kids went here for my wife’s birthday. She loves Mexican and lake views. Perfect, right? Wrong!! Biggest disappointment in a restaurant I can remember in a long time. Not only a disappointment, but it was a disaster. Margaritas were blah. Nothing special at all. Local Mexican buy our house are 3x better. Chips came out soggy. Literally, close to a soft corn tortilla then a chip. Guacamole was actually half of an avocado that wasn’t even mashed. I had chicken with a jalapeño sauce. The sauce was pretty good. The chicken was dry. Our check came to $174.00. I wouldn’t pay $50.00 for the same meal again. Such a shame. High hopes, but a flop. Steer clear. El Jalapeño in Lakewood or El Patron in Elyria significantly better at a fraction of the cost. This was one of those restaurants that tries to be avant-garde but fails miserably into something that isn’t even average. Views weren’t even great. You would want to be on the second floor to see anything.
Best Mexican food Ive ever had.Started with an Anejo Flight. The Suavecito is now my favorite Anejo!Appetizers: Banana fritters were out of this world. The roasted bone marrow was buttery delicious.Main course: Choritzo Burrito - mind blowing especially the Maiz Dulce which is like corn grits. We also had Mole de Pollo which was also really good!Overall great food. Will be back soon once I have some money to spend lol.
Perfect location on the east 9th Street Pier viewing the lake near Nautica Queen, the Marina, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Voinovich Park, and one of the Cleveland signs if youre a tourist. Very scenic area with lots to do. Good Mexican food and really great selection of tequilas and margaritas
I had a good time in this restaurant!! Good Mexican food and good view!! I had some guacamole flavors plate. I had a basic guacamole, sweet chili guacamole and so on. They are very delicious! Besides I ordered a plate with rice and beans. Good! Moreover a dessert was delicious!! I think all of the plate is good!! This is located in the lake side marina so if you choose the outdoor table you can enjoy them with sunny sky and good wind!! Very kind staffs took care of me! This made my lunch perfect!!
This place is worth the experience even though the prices seem a little high. Ten bucks for chips and three salsas? I can’t wait to try the place in the summer. The place has beautiful views of the lakefront. The food is quite different than what you would expect from a regular Mexican restaurant. If you like tequila, this is the place for you! Maybe one day I will try the 50 dollar shot of their highest end tequila. Maybe.
It was a nice place. The views of Cleveland were spectacular. We ordered two meals and split them. I thought the quesadilla was special. It used pumpkin seeds and warmed almonds. The tamales were not special, just mediocre. I tried a margarita with jalapeno and it was really tasty. The atmosphere, even at a strange time, was really welcoming and lively. I would go back.
Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Let me start with the good before I mention the bad or the ugly. The location is OUTSTANDING! The service was good and the food descriptions were amazing. They were out of both tempeh and mushrooms so we had an etire entrée AND dessert comped which was very generous.Sadly- our orders of molé guacamole (normal guac with some shaved chocolate & pomegranate seeds), queso fundito (canned from the gas station is better), the corn chips are ACTUALLY Tostidos!, tacos al pastor (not good-flavorless/bland), bahn mi burritos(wrong-from texture to taste), hongo tacos(plain, bland) ... all with sides of black beans(no spices, tasted like beans straight out of the can), verde white rice (good), and papas frites (good-especially the adobe ketchup) TOTALLY MISSED THE MARK. Almost all the food was left untouched - it was actually THAT bad.Eating here was a GIGANTIC mistake. Drinks on the patio may be one thing but avoid the food. The food descriptions and presentation are 100% .... preparation and execution are a ZERO!
The food at this restaurant was very tasty if a little bit bland compared to the Akron location. (Understandable as they are new and still figuring things out) The wait staff was very attentive and helpful even with some of the younger and pickier members of our party. The margaritas were the highlight of the experience and were very well prepared.(make sure you try Habanero Hirt Sauce)
5 stars. Great bartender whom seemed genuinely interested if our drinks and guacamole were up to par. Beautiful scenery (the bay ) and outdoor tables as well. I could have spent a day here wat hing the boats and enjoying the ambiance. Must see and its right by rock and roll Hall of Fame!
Great place. Wonderful, eclectic menu including a seperate Gluten Free menu. The food was amazing, very pleasing to this palette. Everything we ordered was GF and it did not disappoint. Dont even get me started on the incredible drinks this place makes, wow. We had a Blood Orange Margarita with a Sugar/Salt/Citrus rim...wow; so tasty. I was in from NY to visit my Son and he will definitely be back. I hope I will too. Oh, and ps...they are right on the water and we saw an beautiful sunset. Great vibe. Great ambience. Great staff, especially our server, Michelle; all friendly & knowledgeable.
This was my first visit and it was very underwhelming. I ordered the gumbo and it was watery and bland. It also had 4 chunks of barely cooked cauliflower. The server recommended it and I told him dont ever recommend the gumbo to anyone else. The chips and salsa were pretty good, although they charge extra for salsa beyond your first two small bowls. The service was pretty decent and the scenery on the Cleveland waterfront was nice. Ill probably skip this place on my next visit home.
Went out for biking with my wife today and found this place. Just realized that I left my wallet home. I asked if they take apple pay and No, they dont take Apple Pay. Searched my pocket to see if I have any cash. Luckly, I found $15 but there wasnt not much I could order. Ordered one $8 guac and that was about it. Please consider getting an Apple pay soon.
Coming from Texas, my mom and I didn’t dare hope for the same level of Mexican food we have access to back home - but then Nuevo blew us out of the water. We started with the habanero jelly guacamole and house made chips, generously experimenting with the homemade salsas on the table as we happily set our tastebuds aflame with a sweet, salty, spicy combination we couldn’t get enough of.The tacos al pastor were even more delicious, and blended a plethora of textures and flavors with their beautifully cooked grouper, balanced perfectly with a pineapple jicama slaw and served with Spanish brown rice and epazote black beans. The atmosphere is light and inviting, location is right by the water and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with a volleyball court to boot. The staff are incredibly fast and friendly (shout-out to Kyle, thank you for the Akron recommendations!) - highly recommend this amazing place for anyone visiting/looking for a night out in Cleveland!
Pros: good food, knowledgable staff, beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere, live music, huge drink selection. I tried a tequila flight and it was very good!Cons: the live music got louder and louder throughout the evening until conversation was impossible, took about a half an hour to be seated outside despite seeing lots of open tables, server was very attentive until we needed our checks..then we had to flag down someone elseOverall I would recommend going. Just be prepared for it to take a whole evening
For appetizers, we ordered a plate of bone marrow out of curiosity. There wasn’t much to eat on it. When it comes to the entrées, the prices were quite discouraging for people on a budget. We ended up leaving right after the appetizers and looked for food somewhere else.In all, the place is appealing to the eye, but not very filling to the stomach.
Very mediocre experience. None of the staff seemed too thrilled to be there, hostesses seemed to not pay much attention to the wait-list (one just sat there on her phone for awhile), bartender was not very efficient and a bit lazy (starts doing menial tasks instead of taking our drink order after sitting for almost 10 minutes).Zero employees there wearing masks, including service and kitchen staff. Im impressed a global pandemic has managed to somehow miss this place!Very uninspired menu, the Al Pastor tacos were just OK (but the flour tortillas werent very warm and just blah). The quesadilla was actually very good. Food prices are kinda high for what you get.Our server was decent, though like the rest of the staff, just didnt seem very interested in being there. Not a place wed be sure to specifically re-visit next time were back, and I assume theres gotta be a lot of better options if youre just grabbing a bite after visiting the R&R HoF like we were.
A fantastic dining experience. I started going to this place when it was in downtown askron. Went there right before Christmas and the staff went out of there way to set the table up in a Christmas theme, so thank you to the staff for making that possible and absolutely delicious food and great service and staff!! A place you must go if you are downtown, even if not, make the trip to go.
We were met at the front and seaded immediately our reservations were done through their online process our server Brian was outstanding & the meals were fantastic keep up the great work if youre a local or just a traveler by this is definitely worth a visit keep up the great work. The views are fantastic. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
On July 12, 2020 around 5:30pm, my family of 6 entered your establishment. From the time of arrival to departure, we experienced excellent service. We took a day trip from Pittsburgh to Ohio and found your restaurant through a quick google search. The best part about our experience was our server: PAIGE E.Paige was very professional, knowledgable, kind, and radiant! She displayed great service to both my husband and I, and our 4 young children.I told Paige that I would leave her a great review because she deserved it! Please make sure that she gets this!Oh, and the food and drinks were amazing!Thank you so much and the next time we visit Ohio, we know where to visit!Instagram: @dee_spire
A group of friends and I went here to use the gift card we won during trivia night. At the time of winning, we were told the gift card was worth $50, but when we went back last week, the server informed us that the manager that night had only loaded $10 on it. We were all very disappointed as we truly did like both the trivia and food. Unfortunately, it does not seem like we will be returning.
We stopped in for a mid afternoon cocktail after seeing the city and my husband had the Yeti Imperial Stout for $7 and I had the Blood Orange Pomegranate Margarita for $11. Both were delicious and we loved the view.It was weird to us that the bartenders were all doing large shots of tequila and drinking beer while working. The girl doing so, ended up breaking a wine glass in the ice bin and they had to drain the entire thing because if it.Wed definitely go back and eat next time, as the food sounded amazing!
I mean...it’s okay. Happy hour margaritas are pretty lacking of alcohol...just pay 3 bucks more to get a drink with some booze. Service wasn’t great. I was pretty much ignored for about 25 mins, and the manager finally brought my drink out. Food was good, but I wouldn’t really call it mexican. Probably wouldn’t return.
Great happy hour!! Beautiful location. Awesome dishes and drink menu. The staff is friendly and quick. Chill vibe and welcoming for all. My food was promptly delivered fresh and hot! I’ll definitely go back. If you’re looking for a water front venue definitely check this place out. Cute outdoor eating options as well.
Beautiful atmosphere, lovely views, tasty margaritas, and friendly staff (Dan is the best)!!! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I prefer authentic Mexican food and if that is what youre looking for, you will be disappointed but I would still frequent this establishment and what I ordered was still very tasty!
It is advertised as a Mexican restaurant, but its not authentic Mexican food what you get there. No corn tortillas. Quesadillas dont come with pico de gallo and cream cheese, so I had to ask for the latter. Its also overly priced: I ordered some empanadas, expecting 4 or 5 of them, but they were only 2 little ones for $14!The service wasnt terrible, maybe a little slow.
Came for apps and tequila, and loved it. The margarita flights were dangerously fruity, masking the taste of tequila. So we polished off the night with a shot that caught my eye.Tried the piña calamar and camarones apps. Great stuff. Live music and a comfortable warm summer night were the cherry on top. And the aviation nerd in me enjoyed watching the small planes take off over us.Server was friendly, knowledgeable, and timely. If Im ever in Cleveland again, I will return.
Good view. Over priced - upcharge for sharing. They were out of 3 out of the 4 things we tried to order... Heres the kicker, they were already serving a limited menu. Took a very long time to get a server and even longer to get drinks. Not exaggerating... we got our draft beer at the same time as our entrees! Neat art outside the bathroom.
A hop, skip and jump from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Was very nice to sit outdoors My wife had the shrimp taco lunch and me the Americana tacos with ground beef.My mango margarita was done well.Adam our waiter was personable and good. He asked where we were from and shared stories about rockers & athletes thats celebrated here. If you like Mexican food and are near the Rock& Roll Hall of Fame then this is the place for you.
The shrimp tacos were delicious. I substituted the black beans for great beans and I was pleasantly surprised by the vibrant flavor. We had the red sangria which was also very good. Our server was friendly and helpful, but could have been a little more attentive. Overall, a pleasant night out.
Honestly, if it wasnt for the location and view of the water, I would rate this place a 0 (if we even had the option, of course). I was definitely surprised at the amount of people who were there. The food was so disgusting, that my family and I felt sick for 2 days with just the little bit we did eat. Not to mention the drink I ordered. Tasted like perfume. To top it off, it was expensive. Our waiter looked like he was high on something. Had blood shot red eyes, pupils dilated and was spilling the water as he pored it in the cup. Not a people person at all. Felt extremely uncomfortable even asking for anything. Never again. By far the worst restaurant Ive been to.
Overall was disappointed by the experience. The food was not bad, but it could have been better. The staff was friendly but seemed a tad overwhelmed. Indoor experience was just meh. We ordered as a party of 5 and were told they were out of a few items. I ordered the Chorizo Burrito which was decent. Unfortunately, the beans which came as a side were relatively flavorless. My companions remarked that their food was ok. The drinks (Margaritas) were all right, but a little expensive for what they were. I will also note that everything looked very clean while I was there.Overall, Id recommend this location if youre are eating outside or can secure a window by the water (it is quite nicely located), or are going just for drinks. For food, there are much better Mexican restaurants, though this is not a bad option. Hopefully they will continue experimenting with their menu- I think there is a lot of potential.
The two hostesses were too busy with cell phone calls to acknowledge us. Fortunately the waiter was much better. Location is a little trendy and I was leery the food would be mediocre but, the chef didnt disappoint. Ambiance somewhat ruined by a group of obnoxious and vulgar parents (whose children ironically seemed rather well behaved). Prices a bit inflated but, not outrageous.
I use to frequent here once a week. The food here is good and the female servers that use to be here were excellent. They were really why I kept coming back. Always fun and made u feel at home.... now for the downside, their menu is very pricey AND you have to pay for parking. I find that other venues are less expensive and just as good. They also need more enthusiastic bartenders now. The ones from last year kept the place going in my opinion....Overall: good food but your going to be spending some money. This is on the high end and no longer a very fun place to be. Perfect for a quiet date that you want to spend money on.
Though the food was good, most of it was severely overpriced. I asked for a side of spoon bread, which ended up being a 2x2 serving for $6.90. Was told a glass of wine was $7, but it was $9 on the bill. The salmon tacos were good, but three of them had a total of probably 4 oz of salmon and each was a 3” taco for $15. Nothing else in them but some fancy greens. Husband got the Pambazo sandwich, which was beautifully presented but overpriced at $18. Inflated prices. Not worth it. Scenery was beautiful. I guess that is what you pay for, and the $8 parking.
We were the *second* people in the door and the host didnt want to sit us by the window because other people would want to sit by the window and that would clog up one server. Right, great, thats why we got here early 🙄Serving sizes are generous, chips are great, food is okay.
Food was pretty good. Unfortunately after we were seated at our table we waited 10 minutes before our server even acknowledged us. And we had a reservation. They appeared to have plenty of staff. Not sure what was going on. Server acted surprised to see us. Maybe she wasnt told?
Not a great place for me. The decor was nice and chicken was tasty, that is pretty much where the good ends. The waitress was clueless, I waited 20 mins for a Pepsi. Actually we got our food before the drinks. We had to ask for straws. The menu was odd. The layout on it was a little hard to follow and not much variety. The chips were hard, the taco flours were over cooked, overall not satisfied. This was a waste of $40.
About 9 of us were celebrating a bachelorette, and decided to start our night off here. Our experience was everything we could’ve imagined and more. From the chips and guacamole to the yummy margarita pitchers to our main entrees, nobody left disappointed (or hungry). Both our server Jordyn and the food running manager Jonathan were super helpful, knowledgeable, and overall very sweet. Thank you Nuevo for starting our night off on such a great note; we’ll definitely be back!
Love the location! perfect for after the museum especially to take photos near the water, however extremely overpriced for basically microwave food. margaritas and queso were great but the main course was tough to eat, you also have to assemble all of your tacos/salad yourself from a bowlwhich can make it hard not to get messy and tough to eat, no one finished their meal. also very overpriced for what it is but would go back for the margaritas!
The food was not 👎that great at all for the price $ you pay $ its very expensive here for Tacos 🌮 great atmosphere. We need our Old Captain⛵Franks Back to North Coast Harbor. A Seafood 🎏 Restaurant is greatly needed in this area not a 🌮 restaurant. On display at Nuevo Modern was an keep sake brick from Old Captain Franks.
I had my wedding at Nuevo, and after 1.5 years of planning and excitement, I felt like I was treated with such lack of consideration and professionalism with how my event and the days leading up to it were handled. The event coordinator didn’t respond to a single email or phone call the whole week of our wedding. She also failed to give us our invoice for our 6/19 wedding until 6/18 at 4:13pm (what we spent all week trying to contact her about) when I already was busy checking into my hotel/prepping for rehearsal and had spent a whole entire week stressing out and getting nervous after ZERO correspondence. And she lied—saying the reason she was sending it so late was because she had tried to send it to my knot email instead. There was an extra $1,000 payment to have the ceremony outside vs inside. Our ceremony was planned to be outside. So she didn’t run the payment this day as anticipated, (although clearly there are multiple other better solutions to handle this scenario), instead she waited until the last hour of my wedding to run the payment. The payment came back declined due to the large amount. (But I’d also like to add I didn’t receive a single notification/warming from my bank regarding this incident which is not normal so also confused about this). Now if this had been dealt with earlier in advance on another day (like I had been trying to accomplish) I could’ve simply spoke with the bank and resolved this issue or gotten a cashiers check. But now it’s 10pm on my wedding night and I’m having to deal with payment. She also went to my parents as soon as the payment was declined before telling ME. Making my parents and us very uncomfortable and honestly embarrassing. Paying for that day was my and my husband’s responsibility. NOT my parents who she has never had an ounce of correspondence with. It left me in tears there at my wedding trying to handle this during the only time at my reception I would’ve finally had down time to just enjoy the dancing with my new husband. I wish I had more characters to use in this review so I could elaborate also on the lack of thoughtfulness and communication regarding the way our ceremony was handled as well. Overall, so highly disappointing after so much time, excitement, and money were spent on Nuevo, one of our formerly loved places.
Me and my wife visited yesterday for our overnight stay in Cleveland, we were warmly greeted and given a choice of where we wanted to sit. Its such a bright & beautiful place especially on the pier. Our server was friendly & helpful and we got our drinks etc in all good time. The margaritas were perfectly made and our food hot and delicious. I loved the authenticity and the menu was a good size, quality over quantity is what I always prefer. Definitely recommend! Completely forgot to get some photos of our food, it was that good :) we will be back and recommending to family & friends when in town!
We could see them scooping things out of GFS containers to serve. Talk about missing the mark. The greatness of the location is the only thing this place has going for it. The food was unexciting and lacked any type of theme. I’m hard-pressed to call this any type of derivation of Mexican (or anything else). Staff were friendly and fun-loving, but lackluster in their pace. The convenience of the parking is overshadowed by the zeal for parking tickets. In the minute-and-a-half that it took to walk from my car to the pay station, the attendant was already at my car writing a ticket. I realize that the parking is not part of the restaurant, but it is a situation that directly affects the experience of the restaurant and is relevant for the review.
It was a super long wait to get into a place with mediocre food. The casa sangria didnt taste like anything except grapefruit (bleh), and the pico de gallo (should have read the description before ordering) had cucumber. Talk about a cheap way to stretch your pico and it tasted terrible. No flavor what-so-ever. My friend got the al pastor tacos and those were really boring. Weve had way better for less. The only saving grace of this place was my birria quesadilla which was full of deliciously juicy and savory meat. The service was also great. They were definitely short staffed but they worked their butts off.To say the least I would hesitate before coming back and probably wouldnt recommend.
My first time attending with my friends and we could not have had a better experience. Kyle (our server) has FANTASTIC!!! From food recommendations to drinks, to dessert, Kyle did not miss. He was like Steph Curry from half-court, 3x in a row. The food and vibes are special. Highly recommend.
While outside for drinks and small snacks people walking outside of fence stepped over fence and loaded up on the snacks.then left with them. Also chairs blocking off between the public patio and wedding partys area. A woman moved a chair and filled up a plate then took it back.Poor setup regardless of space.Poor planning.Seems like amateurs planning a wedding dinner. Steak was good but all else bad.
A great place to eat and have a margarita while enjoying the view. We ordered the quesadillas with the blood orange margarita, they were delicious. We received our food fast and the waiter was very attentive making sure we were ok. I would definitely come back when visiting Cleveland.
My family had an amazing lunch - pollo crema, shrimp tacos, and a quesadilla. My wife absolutely loved the house-made margarita. This is a great dining experience, right on the water, and next to the Science Center and Rock and Roll Museum. A perfect spot for a visiting family to grab a bite.
Incredible. I came to Cleveland for some time away from work and stumbled into this restaurant. The staff was so kind and went out of their way to help out. The food was also incredible. As a vegan it’s hard to find options but they had them, which tasted so good! I will definitely be coming here again when I return to Cleveland!
Way over priced. You are paying for a view of Lake Erie I guess. Lake Erie is not an impressive view. Got Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad at like $15. Chicken was on side of plate and was half of a heart of Romaine lettuce. Had to cut salad myself. Waitress also poured water all over table and didnt clean it while filling water glass. Go up town and find better restaurants.
Thought this place would be a nice change from our regular place. The hostess was rude, our waitress took 20 minutes to get drinks. Another 20 to take our order. Menu was in Spanish and our waitress didnt want to translate anything. The booth has tears in the vinyl and the plates were cracked and the cups were dirty. Only got refills when we were about to leave, except 1 of our group who got nothing. The prices for food was outrageous. The scenery outside was beautiful since its next to the water. Next time, go to McDonalds then go for a leisurely walk. Never will I go back to this place even if Im starving.
First, let me say that the service was spot on! Unfortunately, the food was severely lacking in flavor and authenticity. I am Mexican and would rather have eaten at Villa Zapata. Did not enjoy my meal or my drink at all. I don’t mind spending money for a good meal, but this was not worth my money. I won’t go back.
Awesome place and environment. Great service and flavors. Location offers nice views by the water, volleyball, outdoor heaters for cooler months, and convenient access for visitors to Browns stadium, perfect for pre or post game turn up. The menu is updated regularly and crafted with care, this is obvious in both the food and the cocktails. Service is top notch, and the owner is very personable and hands on. Must visit and bring some friends!*Parking can be pricey, mostly during special events- the lot is run by another company. Normally about $10 daily, up to $50 on game days, but there are other lots in the area.
I’ve been here a few times. Really love my patron flight and the Chips and guacamole. Nuevo is a great restaurant to get your afternoon right if your headed to the lake, or a great spot to wind down at after a day on the lake. If it’s busy, you can have a nice walk along the pier while waiting for your table. Really awesome location, with the Rock and Roll hall of fame, Browns stadium, and the science center.Recently I had the Carne Asada plate and the 🥩 was amazing, I like mine medium and it came out perfect.... didn’t really care about the rice and beans with the purple cabbage being bland.... the steak favor overpowered it..... add the tacos shells for free.I’ll try the street corn grits next time.... with this being a modern Mexican joint, don’t except an authentic Mexican taste...
We went for lunch on a warm, humid summer weekday. We had a largish group, and our service was terrific. The food was good. It wasnt the best Ive had, but it tasted great for what passes for a reasonable price downtown. Its location is so close to the lake, but dont expect an actual view of the lake while eating, at least not on the ground floor. Cleveland, in its infinite collective wisdom, has bestowed that view to a parking lot instead.
Stopped here for dinner. Best thing about the place is the views and atmosphere. Carne americano tacos and fish tacos weren’t very good. Americano tacos had an overwhelming flavor like the meat was almost sour. Rice and beans tasted like they were from a can/bag. Chips weren’t super fresh guacamole was good though.
We came to Nuevo before the Browns game yesterday and absolutely loved it! The staff was amazing, namely the two bartenders Keegan and Mariah. The margaritas are delicious and the food came out so quickly! We had no reservation but they fit us in no problem. We expressed our pleasure with the service to Manager Kim and she rewarded us with a tour of the upstairs event space. What a GREAT location and space for an event. My husband and I will be looking into it for a future party! Thank you guys!
The restaurant is located in a prime location for a before or after Browns game, an night out with friends or a romantic date. The food was very well seasoned, and the flan was creamy and delicious. Our server was very helpful with our food choices, and he was very friendly. The food was fast, but presentation could have been a little better, the decor is a little boring. I also would have liked my Margarita in a more appropriate glass with a garnish, ladies like pretty glasses!Overall, I give Nuevo 4 stars forlocation, good food, comfort and service.
So... I got the shrimp tacos, salsa and chips... shrimp tacos had absolutely no taste... salsa is a literal bowl of diced tomatoes... I dont know what this place sells but it isnt Mexican food. Basically plate of pretty dust. The single star is because it has a nice view and the employees were very nice.
Stunning views of the city and the lake. Drinks were outstanding. Service very friendly, but slow. We had a large group of 18 and had a reservation, but we we there from 5:45 till 9:00. Waited a very long time for food. When orders did arrive, the waiter only brought two at a time. He seemed to have very little help. Had plantains for an appetizer, plus shrimp tacos with black beans and rice. Good, but not great. Ive had better at less expensive restaurants. Would return again because of the atmosphere. If food isnt any better, then it would be my last time.
I can’t believe this restaurant has such good reviews. Tonight’s dinner was a complete disappointment . A tiny scoop of guacamole priced at nine dollars came out of the kitchen 30 seconds after we ordered it and was flat-out inedible. It was obviously made well in advance of the meal. The chili seasoning on the taco chips and in the salsa was heavy-handed and overwhelming. The “shrimp tacos” consisted of a small bowl of seasoned shrimp served on a plate with ice-cold flour tortillas. My friend’s scallops were large enough but under cooked and tasteless. This is the third time I’ve eaten here and it’s never been good but this was the worst! There were only five tables of customers when we were there so there was just no excuse for the terrible service. The restaurant’s location is fantastic and the views are breathtaking. But, the food and service are so bad that I wouldn’t go back here if you paid me.
Terrible experience today, staff wouldn’t sit us down claiming all tables were reserved yet after being there for an hour no one was seated at those tables.very child unfriendly, everyone treated you like you were an inconvenience to them because you had children with you. Water was spilled at a table, server didn’t even offer to bring napkins to clean it up, just stood there and watched it. Also food wasn’t impressive. Wouldn’t recommend it unless you are there for a couple of drinks.
Our server was great. The food was bland and needed flavor. No spice, no zest, but too salty... a splash of lime wouldnt hurt... a bit of pepper would be great too.My beverage was spot on, and amazing. The Salmon was prepped to order and great too!Flank steak, not so much... no flavor.Overall it was a nice experience but way too pricey for what it is.
So with risk I took a chance, at eating out during the pandemic, but of course I opted for outside , considering social distancing and everything. I was very disappointed in my tacos , they definitely needed sauce , to help the flavor. The beans and rice lacked seasoning. And they weren’t cooked to taste. I was also confused about the music. The restaurant displays a Mexican atmosphere but plays reggae. Overall Adam was the highlight of the experience. I did enjoy his service and the prickly pear margarita.
Prime location on the water. We docked our boat at the marina next door and walked right up. Food was even better than expected and we came in with him expectations. We tried 4 different margaritas and they were all excellent but the real highlight was the food. The entrees were all great but the desert was a show stopper. Id go back here anytime. We also had one of the best servers weve had. Really great personality, knew the menu inside and out and answered all of our questions throughly.Cant wait to go back!

2022-02-26I just love the location of this place! Great views of Lake Erie while eating. Even tho I had a 30 minute wait, our service was great! Im slightly biased about restaurants that serve good drinks, and the drinks here were also good. The food was amazing! We debated on whos food was better to the point we just shared our meals with each other LOL. If youre in the Cleveland area this place is definitely top 5.

2022-05-01The vantage point of Nuevo is prime on the 9th Street Pier. The food and cocktails are great. The menu is so robust, it will take us several visits to get to all the good stuff that made our mouths water. And every so often you can look up and see the Rock Hall or the Cleveland Skyline or Lake Erie and you feel like youre in a super cool spot.

2022-01-06I love the fact that this restaurant is right on Lake Erie. Both the food and the service were good. My older stepson said that the queso dip at Nuevo is his favorite out of any queso dip he has ever had. My favorite item of the meal was the corn grits side dish. Those were soooo good! Creamy, corny goodness!

2021-09-14We got there right when they opened so we could watch football. We enjoyed amazing selections of tequila and margaritas. Cameron was our waiter and he made our experience even more fun and relaxing. He could explain the menu to us, tell us how the drinks were made and make recommendations. My husband had the Caesar Salad and I had shrimp tacos. The views in the area only enhance the experience of this restaurant and they offer plenty of outdoor seating! We can’t wait until our next trip to Downtown Cleveland so we can come back!

2022-01-21Details from reservations down to tequila selection are done perfectly. The couple next to us stopping in for just guacamole enjoyed their plate fully. Us for a Full dinner were able to appreciate Kyle‘s suggestions. Kyle selected the correct tequila, and the correct meal to make a night worthwhile. With a bartender as great as Kyle, and a meal as great as we were served9/10 I would suggest this to anyone looking to warm up on the banks of the Erie

2022-03-06This place has SUCH a cool location and the staff was so friendly. We stopped in from out of town when going to a Cavs game, and I loved the fact that the restaurant was RIGHT on Lake Erie!If you go, doing the guac trio is an absolute must. They were all so delicious. We got the traditional, habanero jelly, and the one with candied bacon 🤤🤤The tacos were good, but the ones I got werent my favorite. A little too out of the box. But the guac was amazing!!

2022-02-22Be far now one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants Ive ever been to!!!! Our waitress was absolutely the best and was very informant., the drinks she recommended were absolutely 🔥🔥🔥🔥... This restaurant has great views and our seats had us looking out over the lake, a great vibe for any date night.... Well most definitely be back 😍😎😛💯👌🏾. By the way I had the birria ramen and street corn grits and my bae had a birria quesadilla

2022-05-15Horrible...the only thing good was the guacamole herbanro jelly. The birra quesadilla was nasty. The sauce tasted just like oil. As you can tell by the pic the fries were burned. There were out of a lot of items. The street corn grits was not creamy like the last time I visited in July. DisappointedUpdate: in response to the owner. I would like to believe things run low or run out but the last time I came you did not have the plantin fritters. Also if you take a good look at the pic and compare the potatoes on the other side to the ones that are burnt... they are clearly burnt and tasted burnt

2022-05-05Cinco de mayo 2022 menuThe Habanero Guacamole was probably one of my favorite Guacs Ive ever had. The guac itself is fantastic and topping it with that spicy jelly really sets it apart. The Pork Quesadilla 👌👌👌 Im usually a chicken fan but this pork and cheese blend is great. Sided with some rice and beansDefinitely try this place out, I know that Ill be back
