Gave this place a second try with worse results…As other patrons stated in reviews…very rude and unfriendly hostess/bartender make the environment sour! The reservation process is off-putting and needs improvement. Solid cocktails…however, DO NOT start a tab there they will make it a mess with random charges. Don’t waste your attention at this place!
Great place, great vibe. Wine selection fantastic, highly recommended Lolas Sweet Red and the Were Movin On Up Cabernet. The house band kept the vibe moving. The chartreuse board was definitely a bit lacking, but served a purpose. Will absolutely be going back whether a date night or girls night out. Oh and the bathrooms were unisex and very clean.
Very aggressive profiling at the door. Dont bother going with even a small group of guys — youll get turned away every time even when its clearly not busy inside.Im local and tried to visit this place a half dozen times and *never* have gotten in. This is the only bar in OTR I can say that about. But watch a group of all girls with no reservation come immediately after and suddenly they have space. I wish they were honest and let people in first come, first serve instead of playing these shenanigans.Save yourself the hassle of Nostalgia and just go to Ghost Baby instead just a block or two away.
Went last night 8/28/22 and will never go back. The bartenders were AWFULLLLL. I have never been treated so rudely in my life at an establishment (big light skin girl with braids and the other mixed looking girl I wish I wouldve gotten their names but too rude to tell me) .Rudest service I have ever had and I wont return. It sucks this is a black owned business because it is a super nice place but the bartenders are going to run this place into the ground with their unprofessionalism and rude behavior. Me and my friends were ignored the entire time. Sat ourselves since no one greeted us for 30 minutes as we stood by the please wait to be seated sign so we sat down at one of the MANY empty tables and then we were yelled at by the big girl that was bartending and told that the empty tables were all reserved and kicked me and my friends out for OUR EVENT THAT WE WERE HOSTING. We left then came back due to us being performers that night but the bartenders literally never brought us menus, gave us dirty looks and purposely REFUSED to serve me and my friends. I went to the bar to get a drink and was IGNORED. Dont waste your time. Literally ruined the entire night.
The location, DJ, crowd, and environment was good; the reason I gave the score I did was because of the service I received from the bartender. I ordered 2 drinks and was charged for 2 up priced drinks. I asked why wasnt I charged for what I ordered and I was told they dont have a price amount for the drinks so they charged me for something else....What bar doesnt have a price for Don Julio Blanco and Ameretto Sour? Im disappointed in receiving that type of service and I wouldnt recommend ordering drinks in there...
Im literally leaving this review as I and my husband who visiting from Toledo, are walking out this place. We walked in and was only in there for about 10mins...No one greeting or was directing guests or customers, like Im thinking an upscale place would do🤔...So okay, we sit down at the table with only a wine menu on it and realize they are not serving food...bummer 😒but okay, we will just get a glass of wine and leave so as to patronize the lounge because music and vibe was cool...of course no one comes to serve us and before my husband can get up to go to the bar, some brown skinned man with dreads, possibly owner or management came over to the table with a couple of people and said Get up! and waved his hand and shaking his head at us like we were some homeless people who had sneaked into the bar and was begging people for money🤨... Im assuming it was reserved for the people he booted us out for. Yeah of course there was no RESERVED sign on table! That would have only made sense! I tapped him on shoulder and said Sir, we didnt know. He very dismissively said Yeah Okay! In shock, we leave. We have never, eeeeeeever been treated like that before at a bar not even at the most hoodest bar weve been to...I try not to leave bad reviews because everyones bad experience might not be the next persons, but DANG! That was just too crazy! This place needs to tighten up for for real! I project if this is how they treat their patrons, they wont last long!!! But we good! Down the street at City Bird Tenders! Food was good and had excellent service!
Drinks were good. Service was horrible. The bartenders stood around talking to each other, ignoring paying customers. Stood at the bar waiting for service for an entire song and they never acknowledged any of us. Not personable at all and it’s unfortunate because that’s enough to keep people from coming back.
We had a great experience here and cant wait to come back! Our server was Amber and she was wonderful - attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. You can order from your server or contactless from your phone using the QR code on the table. Its nice to have the cheese or cheese + meat tray options for little snacks to go with your wine or other drink. Wine menu had plenty of options, and they have beer, liquor, and cocktail options as well for those that dont love wine.We had an old fashioned, whiskey sour, hot bourbon apple cider, the Pricky Pear white wine, and the Dry Riesling. We didnt love the red wine in the whiskey sour, but would order everything else again! They had an espresso martini that I cant wait to try.The music was lovely and a good volume for background music, but we were far away from it and it likely would have been a little loud if we were sat up close. We had a 7:15 reservation for Sunday night, and the music was from 7-9. Is was not busy when we arrived but was full and lively when we left around 9!
Im one to support black owned business but after my experience at Nostalgia last night. I will never support this business false advertising, poor customer service. The owner unprofessional, neck rolling, & defensive behavior I received was despicable! If a event is advertised to start at 7pm honor that... who gets upset with patrons who arrive on time? I guess Nostalgia....Dont patronize
Had a reservation for my 1 year anniversary. Left our nice dinner early to make sure we were on time for our reservation. Little did we know, they cancelled our reservation for a private event with no prior notice. Claimed they tried calling everyone, but my phone number was definitely listed and didn’t have any missed calls or voicemails. Even tried calling on the way there and no one picked up. Wouldn’t even let us step inside in single degree weather to call a ride. Absolute joke of a business, do not go here.Edit: that’s weird because the person working the door said it was a call?? Weird… doesn’t matter cuz I never received either. And cancelling the reservation was not the issue, it was the incredible lack of human compassion to even let us call a ride from inside during single degree weather. Your attempt to backtrack and save face is almost even more embarrassing as you cannot keep your stories straight, have taken 6 months to respond, and still have failed to even ameliorate the situation let alone accept responsibility for failing to communicate.
Made reservations to take my girlfriend here. We showed up ready for a good time only to find out I made the reservation for the wrong day. The place was packed and I was in an embarrassing situation. Man, the hostess showed extreme empathy and worked diligently to find us a table. She introduced us to another couple that was willing to share their space. I’m grateful that she went above and beyond to make it happen. Amazing atmosphere, great bartenders that know how to mix a cocktail and the live music was on point. Definitely going back to this place!
This is the place to be when your in Cincinnati or need a night out to hang out and chill with family, friends or your Spouse. Drinks are excellent. Very professional. Everybody is dressed so nice. Love the colorful lights displaying in the place. Very laidback and the music is amazing. Love this black owned Lounge.
Had a great time here! The vibe was nice enjoyed the old school and R&B music playing before the band came on. Felt the drink prices were a bit $$. The band started late but when they preformed, they sounded good. I would love to see an establishment like this in Louisville.
Beautiful lounge. Very intimate setting. Good music. It would be nice if they had a small plates option, but they dont so just be sure to eat something before you go. That is, if you plan on partaking in having one of their Lovely cocktails or a glass of their fairly priced wine. Coming back very soon.
Last night was my first time here. My friend reserved a table for us for the evening. My first impression after walking in was it had a welcoming feel to it. The lighting, decor, and ambiance was everything I needed. The drinks were spectacular (although on the pricey side). I had a Sangria first and then a tequila and soda. The staff was especially attentive. Social distancing and mask wearing was strictly enforced. The music was one of the best parts. The icing on the cake was that you could pay and order via QR code at your table. I will definitely be back.
Perfectly crafted wine combos and a welcoming environment that suits any occasion and gets friends smiling and giggling all through any opportunities to be out there at the lounge. It has a contagious welcoming warmth that begs for longer stay even when you wish to go.
A very cool, laid-back, but stylish spot. I dont drink wine and they were still completely cool with my coming in, sitting back, listening to some amazing live music and enjoying an ambiance that we desperately need during these times. The staff were all professional, attentive, and reasonable. The music matches the atmosphere, and neither should be missed
Okay, so I am not one to write many reviews unless something really really is outstanding. This place is OUTSTANDING! For visitors, a few things to note: there is a charcuterie board but nothing in the way of dinner or anything. That is not a problem at all. Sometimes you just want to have a nice drink and see some good live music! I know my husband and I are all about live music for date nights and this place delivers! The ambience is absolutely beautiful and classy and the crowd very diverse and eclectic. That was probably one of the best features is how it has brought together people from all different age groups and walks of life. The service in our opinion was amazing and accommodating and the owner stopped in and spent some time with the patrons (which you dont see these days much). The drinks are amazing and brought back the names and drinks of the 1920s and 1930s like the Sidecar and the French 75! It is sort of like being transported back to the Jazz lounges of that time. Truly a gem as there are very very few places in Cinci where you can just go see a live music session and have a great drink. The dress code is flexible in my opinion. We saw ones dressed a little nicer like date night clothes and ones in shorts and sundresses (like we were). We booked our table for the following week before leaving we were that impressed. Thank you Tammie for bringing some class, good music, great drinks and a little piece of history to Cincinnati!
I really didnt want to be the 1st to have a negative review, but they charged my card twice for the same 3 drinks. This was only after spending a short time at the venue, and I personally came up to close my tab.. havent been able to get assistance so far ... glad I didnt let loose 😕; despite the wonderful setting you all have at nostalgia... #1s Impressions
My experience at Nostalgia was awesome. It was my first time visiting and I truly enjoyed the time I spent there. The atmosphere was exciting and fun. I enjoyed sipping the Ella Fitzgerald cocktail I ordered, it was very delicious. I will visit Nostalgia again very soon.
Their $25 per person superbowl party advertisement was misleading. We received a complimentary drink and lite bites, which consist of a plate with a1/2 cup of salsa, 1/2 cup of onion dip, chips and chocolate covered pretzels 😏 per TABLE not per PERSON. A few times the projector (which displayed the superbowl game) froze and shut off. So ask questions before you PURCHASE tickets.Traveling sisters from PHILLY
Had an absolutely amazing time. Staff were courteous, the cleanliness was impeccable, great selection of wines (I ordered the Paloma cocktail, and a couple bottles of wine). The music was outstanding, the decor was very modern chic with a minimalist touch. No surprise that I’ll continue to find reasons to patronize this business.
Let me start off with the pros. The club has an intimate vibe, nice asthetic, they allow outside food into the establishment, and the band Sound the Alarm is absolutely fantastic. That said, the customer service needs work! Minus the doorman who was very cool both times we came to this establishment. As a whole though the customer service is lacking greatly in regards to the waitresses and hostess.UPDATE:The owner response is a gross misrepresentation of what occurred. To note, noone in management spoke with any member of our group of three while we were there. Which if customer service was top tier and they truly felt we were rude, would have happened to remedy any issues. Nor did we have any objections over leaving when our reservation concluded, in fact we promptly got up when informed and went to the bar to close out our tabs. I was so taken aback by the owners response I had to call the other two ladies in my group to see if they felt at anytime we were rude because I didnt want to misspeak based on my personal thoughts and experience. Also because I respect what this club stands for. However, reviews are a companies chance to take feedback with grace, and look into areas that may fall short. Not to respond defensively based on the hearsay of the very staff that treated us poorly.I think the issue came when we asked the hostess/waitress a couple questions regarding how things work at Nostalgia as we are newer to this club. We asked if the party after us no showed would we be able to keep our table. We also inquired if we could switch seats to a larger table that sat empty for over an hour. We respected the answers given, which were nos, and made no scenes nor had any qualms. Asking questions does not make us rude. Our waitress did not return to our table for an extended period of time which required us to go to the bar to get drinks. The only instance were I believe anything could be construed as slightly rude is at the end of the night I ordered a drink and then the hostess told us we had ten more minutes as the next group had arrived. When my drink came out a couple minutes thereafter I informed the waitress I did not want it as we only had a couple more minutes before we had to leave. She made an irritated facial expression at that, so I told her nevermind I would take it, and I did.
Came in and sat down, really looking forward to a chill night with some jazz. Bar service was not allowed and we were told a server would come to take our order. My friend and I were seated here for 15 minutes before we got up and left. Only then did a server come help us. Meanwhile, the table next to us ordered 3 rounds of drinks and were promptly served. Will not be returning here for jazz!Edit: if you can’t accommodate walk-ins, it would be best to deny them to improve service!
It was great to have an opportunity to experience Nostalgia. The service was great and ambiance ever better! While it was refreshing to see urban upscale on Vine Street, the prices were quite high and there wasnt much of food selection AT ALL (we were told we could purchase a cheese tray...) My husband ordered two Hennessy and cokes that were $20 each?! Might sound AMAZING for some but not if you planned to hang out, listen to music and drink.
Ive been to jazz venues in New York, New Orleans and other cities to name a few, but this place is unbelievable. The staff is awesome and the live music will have you stumping your feet. After a few of those side cars and that amazing chardonnay, I found myself singing right along with the band. Good thing I live two blocks away or maybe not so good.If youre looking for a great drink and want to listen to some great music before or after dinner, I highly recommend that you give Nostalgia an opportunity to wisk you away.
I absolutely love the vibe and atmosphere of this establishment. Has a low key laid back but sophisticated mature theme. Also makes for a great first date. Not to loud that you cant hear the other speak and romantic in nature if your looking to see if there is that spark lol. Kudos to the owner for this magnificent concept.
Ive waited for a place like this in Cincinnati since the Blue Whisp. They have a really nice set up and the live band was a hit! The fact they offer their own wine was great b/c I discovered a new fave!! The service was excellent and everyone was attentive.Im looking forward to going back!
My favorite chill spot in OTR. Sophisticated yet accessible, intimate yet socially spaced. Sounds are always on point whether streamed, DJ mixed or live band. Great patio when the weather cooperates. Staff is super friendly and helpful...they know how to pour! Plan ahead and make reservations, especially for the live music on the weekends, they book up quickly.
Really well curated vibe inside with an interesting selection of wine. Some of the wines weren’t my favorite, but that’s alright. Wine is subjective. Only drawback was how loud the music was. We were there early in the evening and anticipated being able to talk. After yelling to each other over the first round we decided to leave.
MAKE A RESERVATION WELL IN ADVANCE. Tables fill up quickly and you could be waiting well over a hour to walk-in.It is a small establishment. Seating chart is misleading. Please know that the only actual tables they have are a few out on the patio and maybe two banquette seating tables. Despite listing their seating chart as tables it is more accurate to say most of their tables are banquette seating with small side tables you would find in a living room. My partner and I were able to sit close to the stage but it didnt matter because we werent comfortable. We were huddled around a tiny table that had to be placed between us praying we or the people moving in the narrow pathway of our table didnt nudge our table and spill our drinks. It also became clear that there were not enough side tables for seated customers as staff were asking people if they needed their tables anymore. MAJOR LETDOWN.When I think of a lounge I think of comfortable seating, intimate space, and dim lighting. This was not it. It is small tight space as mentioned earlier. The space between our space and anothers was barely six feet if that. It was far too crowded and very quickly became loud even before the performer came to the stage. Our performer for the night was supposed to start at 7pm. In reality the show didnt start until about 7:40pm which was annoying. They were good but there were plenty of people who were not there for the music and so without separation of space it was often difficult to hear the music without having to compete with others conversations. The prices of the wine and cocktails were a tad on the expensive side. I wish the staff were more knowledgeable in the menu. I prefer my wines sweeter and not dry. When I asked the staff serving us what they would recommend based on my preferences they couldnt tell me.I also wish they would have made it clear which wines, spirits, etc. were Black Owned since they advertise their establishment as Black Owned. Staff didnt seem to know the answer to that question either. From the pictures Ive seen of their charcuterie board I would skip it. $15 seems a bit overpriced for what Ive seen people receive.Hopefully with them being a new establishment they can work ou the kinks as I would like to return. Unfortunately I dont think it will be anytime soon.
I just absolutely love this place. The staff is on point. The drinks are on point (that pineapple upside down cake 🥰🥰🥰), the band is awesome, the DJ sets be jamming, the vibe is where it’s at. This is a great addition to Cincy. And shouts to the person that chose that wallpaper! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I overheard a lively trumpet player on my way to Mecca OTR and told my sister I hadn’t a clue where that was coming from but wanted to go. It’s so hard to find live music right now yet alone someone tutting their horn as well this musician.I was walking home alone after my sister had went elsewhere and told the 2 folks at the door about how I heard the music on my way to Mecca. I also explained my passion for trumpet after 15yrs of playing, she asked if I’d heard of said trumpeter, but hadn’t. I said my grandpa is my favorite player. I asked if I could go in. The 1 gentleman said all walk ins had “almost” been filled. I didn’t question but was disappointed... I’m a walk in, singular. No effort to explain more. I just wanted to hear my brother blowing on their horn. Stinks I couldn’t.Stood outside the next 10 minutes just to listen. No big deal.I’m not going to bring my over the Rhine neighbor down with a 1 star review, but talk to me next time.. what’s wait time.? what’s a better time to get in? When is this trumpeter playing against??
I do believe this is a great place to go, however getting reservations have been a nightmare. I have emailed the owner to set a large party reservation and I have yet to get a response. The email was sent on 5/6. I have attempted to call the company every day and either the line is busy, or no one answers. I have also attempted to set reservations on the website. I’ve selected a time and entered all of the required information, but it does not set. I would love to continue to support this business, but I would love more if the business had a functioning website, responsive staff or would respond to emails. Can I get some help here?

2022-07-07I had the time of my life here on Saturday. They had the most amazing live band playing. The place is so beautifully decorated and clean (even the bathrooms were spotless). They have such a comfortable intimate atmosphere. It gives me Jazz in New York vibes. The owner is very nice and the staff is great. The bartender made the most delicious drinks. I had the Blacker The Berry ($15) and it was so good, I had to get 3 more lol. I highly recommend you check out this place! If you are in Cincinnati and haven’t made it here on a Saturday night, you absolutely must go!

2022-04-09Checked this place out for the first time last night. Beautiful room with a classy looking bar, jazz posters on the wall, comfortable seating, fine stage for the band, and a great sound system run by someone who knows what hes doing. The service was friendly and efficient as well but, despite ostensibly being a Wine & Jazz Lounge, this is definitely not a jazz scene. The place was packed before the music started, but by the end of the first set most of the crowd had fled. And this was no lousy band; it contained a couple of the best-known jazz musicians in the city. The crowd didnt pay much attention, spoke throughout (the women next to me yelled into her phone the entire time), didnt applaud much, and a grand total of TWO people put money in the tip jar. So disappointing.Im not a wine drinker so I didnt imbibe, but many guests were drinking it so I will assume it was satisfying enough.I hope this place attracts more jazz fans so that the owners can realize what they intended. Theyve obviously invested a lot of money and effort, and Im cheering for their success. At least they have a sense of humor: On the wall across from the bar is a copy of a book entitled, Critical Race Theory, as though customers going out for a fun night of wine and music would want to be lectured in controversial ideology. I believe it was meant as irony.Maybe it was just an off night for the crowd. The owners deserve a second chance so Ill be back.

2022-05-29Wonderful wine bar in Cincy! It was my first time visiting the city & I was excited to try this place because my friend had been raving about it. The music was beautiful, drinks & ambiance even better. I would love to give this place five stars and would have if it weren’t for the VERY RUDE hostess/bartender. From the moment we walked in, her attitude was not only unwelcoming but down right gave the vibe that she didn’t want us there. I didn’t know if it was because we didn’t have a reservation, which by the way are very hard to get, or if she was just in a bad mood that day? Plus the tables were empty and remained empty for the entire time we were there, which was almost 2 hours. We did sit at the bar and she continued with the horrible service even after I told her it was my first time there. You would think someone would want to be as welcoming and enthusiastic to a first time guest as possible. Her service or lack there of really just brought down the entire mood of the establishment. I would love to visit this place again but honestly the unwelcoming feeling really just put a sour taste in my mouth.

2021-11-25Always on point with the ambiance, nice bar staff, good music & awesome drinks. Though I do enjoy a class a wine, I come to taste the cocktails. The list might only consist of 6/7 signature cocktails and they are G-O-O-D!!!! Great for date night, chill night, or a celebration. Just come & enjoy

2022-08-15A nice vibe. The drinks were good and had fun names after different artists. Definitely date night appropriate or even a girls night. It was very busy but the bar was able to keep up. Kudos!

2022-06-12So the first time we went, we had a great time. Atmosphere is relaxing. Drinks are good. It’s definitely a vibe.Second time we went, we got a bartender who was rude af. It was so terrible we didn’t even finish our drinks and we left.We decided to give it one more chance because we had to wait for our dinner reservation. This time that bartender wasn’t there and it was another amazing experience. Everyone else there is super friendly. As long as you don’t get that one bartender you’ll have a good experience. Good music, good ambiance, good vibes.

2022-07-26Was in town from Detroit for the Cincinnati Music Festival and found a Facebook event for their 80s, 90s, 2000s R&B night. Had no idea what to expect but really loved this place! Nice old school vibe with a solid mix of ages 35 and up, both inside at the bar and on the back and front patio. Good for both an outing with group of friends, or a date night. Really good wine and strong cocktails (try the Grandmas Upside Down Pineapple Cake). A couple of the bartenders had a really bad attitude but most of them were attentive and took good care of us. We definitely plan to come back for another weekend just to go there again.

2022-07-19Great atmosphere and vibes. Seating is a teeny bit awkward ( make sure you get there early enough to find a seat). Great love music and DJ’s as well. The bar service is probably the most unfortunate part of this place. If you don’t know the staff (and even if you do) you could be waiting for a while. One girl in particular me and my friends avoid because she constantly makes our drinks wrong. Bless her heart.

2022-04-11If your from out of town, and your looking for a place to just slow down and enjoy the vibes of the city, this is it. Similar to Marvin’s in DC, good mix of people; (it’s a vibe)

2022-06-11Great atmosphere. The drinks are delicious. This place is very small and they fill up with reservations so I do recommend that you make reservations. There is a minimum you have to spend when making reservations for table service.
