Always friendly and ready to help whenever I go in. I called them on the phone to ask if they had double-sided tape in stock (which they did) and I said I’d be there in just a few minutes. Once there, the gentleman I spoke to on the phone literally found me in the aisle once I was in the store and proceeded to talk to me about all the kinds of tape they had, and what he personally recommended for the project I needed. I had never learned so much about double sided tape. I appreciated the friendly service!
If I could rate this store a negative 5 I would!! I went to Ace this past Saturday to get more paint like I had previously purchased. I ran out mid project so I went back to get more. They told me they are doing away with what I had but they said they have a better one still the same brand and the color would match, ok cool Ill take it. Next day when painted my room I noticed bubbles everywhere in the paint and on my wall, when it dried the bubbles have now popped and there is spots all over the wall and on top of that the color doesnt match. I looked at the paint and it is a exterior paint not a interior paint like I had. When I went to store to get more I even took my old can to match. I went in today to point out their error which has now ruined my walls and the only thing they would do is replace the paint and would not do anything about the screw up of the employee that caused damage to my wall. Only thing I asked for was to replace the paint and to supply the sand paper it would take to fix my walls and they refused. I took my refund on the wrong paint and will know take my business to Lowes even though ace is a mile up the street.
I usually have a good experience here and try to come here when I can instead of the big box stores, however they seem to have had a lot of turn over and the new employees are less than experienced in DIY projects and materials. Asked for 30 feet of 20/2 wire for garage door sensors came home to find they have given me 19 feet. Went back with receipt and they kinda acted put off, told me I could return the wire. I explained I just wanted the 30 feet in 1 continuous feed that I had paid for. Did finally get my wire and Im sure it was an honest mistake, however it seems good customer service would have been to recut the wire and offer me the 19 feet for my time.
My first time to the New Albany store and I got the same great service as Ive gotten at the Baltimore store. I barely got into the store when I was greeted and offered assistance. I had called earlier to reserve a couple of bags of lawn fertilizer. In less than a minute I had it in a cart and was led to the part of the store where other things I wanted to get were located. The gal at the register was just as helpful and friendly and had me checked out in a flash. The only downside was getting into the parking lot. The way the street is set up, only traffic on the same side of the street can turn in, so I had to turn around to pull into the place. No big deal but I thought Id mention in case youre going there for the first time and coming from 161 direction also. Not sure, yet, if theres an entry from the side street just before the store.
I have been a loyal Ace Hardware customer for many, many years because the stores are locally owned, convenient to get to, and most importantly, because the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. I walked into this store and the young man behind the counter asked me if he could help me find something. I replied that I was looking for ceramic tile adhesive and grout. He had no idea what I was talking about and turned to his coworker at the next register. She looked at him and said, “Don’t look at me, you’ve worked here longer than I have.” They called for help and a third employee came to “help”. I told him what I was looking for and he took me to the caulk display. I had to explain that caulk is not grout or tile adhesive and I was able to locate the grout in the same aisle. As I was trying to find the adhesive, he stood there looking completely lost and offered no help whatsoever. On the positive side, he was able to find the right aisle! As I was walking out of the store, I asked a fourth person if I could speak with the manager. It turned out that she was an assistant manager. I expressed my dismay that three out of three employees had no clue what grout and tile adhesive was, which was contrary to Ace Hardware’s brand promise (Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks.). At least she knew what I was looking for and offered to help. It turns out that the store either doesn’t carry tile adhesive or they were out. I suspect the former since there was no empty shelf space where the adhesive would be kept.I had another horrible customer experience this week with Ace Handyman Services, (who Ive used in the past) but I’ll provide feedback on that on the appropriate site since the services group has no direct relationship to the retail stores and store owners.Being of a certain age, these recent experiences harken me back to the late 1980’s and early 1990’s when these types of bad experiences began creeping into Sears retail and hardware stores. Perhaps my recent in-store encounter is unique to this particular store, but I won’t be finding out because other outlets are not convenient to get to. In any event, I hope Ace can straighten the ship before they go the way of Sears.
One of their employees treated me like an absolute piece of trash.I had the review and experience written out in detail but Google doesnt allow certain key words to post publicly.Ill check back there in 2 weeks but Ill be shocked if someone that mouthy keeps a job in customer service for that long.Another customer in the store even looked over at me, just as surprised when it happened.Learn to screen better.Unbelievable.
They are definitely a little more pricey but the convenience of them being 2 minutes from my house makes it worth it. I came in there today like I have done hundreds of times and I was completely blown away on the help that I had received by an older gentleman with a project that I was going to do one way and he gave me his input and I followed it his way and it worked out amazing
PROOF: This Ace Hardware will take your money in unfair and shady means, if not outright fraud, if given the chance. BE CAREFUL GOING TO THIS STORE. My story -- I went to Ace Hardware with the goal of getting a car key cut and reprogrammed. I heard Ace Hardware did this so people did not have to go to the dealership. Great. I went there with a key I bought online. I asked to get it cut and reprogrammed. They said it would be $57 since I brought the key in with me. They made me sign a small piece of paper, that someone else had already signed (strange), that ONLY STATED you hold Ace Hardware not liable if we damage your 3rd party key or if the 3rd party key does not work. THE PAPER SAID NOTHING ABOUT $57 FEE BEING NON-REFUNDABLE EVEN IF THEY COULD NOT GET THE KEY TO WORK!!! After signing, they take me up to the front desk to pay $57 for the service (AGAIN, NO ONE GAVE ANY VERBAL OR WRITTEN WARNING AT THE FRONT DESK THAT THIS $57 FEE BEING NON-REFUNDABLE EVEN IF THEY COULD NOT GET THE KEY TO WORK). I paid. Then the Ace Hardware rep and I went out to my car the rep tried for 15 minutes to get my newly cut key to work and the car reprogrammed. THE REP COULD NOT GET THE KEY TO WORK !!! It is at that point, AND ONLY AT THAT POINT, that the Ace Hardware Rep told me that most 3rd party keys do NOT work and that is why Ace Hardware sells their own keys. We walk back to the store. ACE QUOTES ME $159 TO ORDER AN ACEHARDWARE KEY AND REPROGRAMMING! I then say, Ok, well since you could not get my key to work, lets refund that charge and Ill order the $159 Ace Hardware key. ONLY THEN WAS I TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT OFFER ANY REFUNDS FOR 3RD PARTY KEYS, EVEN IF THEY FAIL TO GET THE KEY TO WORK!!!! I was shocked! The Ace Hardware Rep had a look on her face that she knew what she was doing was wrong. But said Dave the manager will have to be called and asked to see if Dave will approve the refund. After 2 days of waiting, Dave the manager finally gets back to the Ace Hardware Rep who gets back to me that the best they can do is provide a $20 refund (NOT a full $57 refund). THIS IS HOW THIS ACE HARDWARE STORE DOES BUSINESS. THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. BUYER BEWARE... ACE HARDWARE IN NEW ALBANY AND DAVE THE MANAGER IS TOO BIG TO CARE!
Very well kept, lots of items and convenient. Only downside was trying to get a U-Haul from them and the vehicle that was reserved wasn’t there and there was no communication about it. We have used them for plenty of other items and they are super friendly and knowledgeable. They are willing and able to help guide you through your home improvement projects.
Never very crowded, staffed very well. Employees are extremely helpful and courteous. Ive been here several times, and even when theyre busy if you need assistance you wont be waiting long. They literally have an army of employees, including what appears to be reserves. Store is very clean, it is by far the most impressive hardware store in the city of New Albany and Columbus.
Consistently the nicest and most knowledgeable folks around. Need a random screw youll never find on your own? Right this way, sir. Need a bracket to mount on a wall to hold a nozzle? You could use this and this and it should look pretty darn good. I love this hardware store.
Never had a bad experience and Ive been there a ton. The employees are very knowledgeable and are always asking if I need help with anything. They ordered a piece I needed that they normally dont carry at no charge and even helped recommend what else was needed to fix my plumbing problem. Went above and beyond what I expected. Great to see customer service like that still exists!!
Shelby was very helpful both over the phone and in person once I arrived. There was a kind young man who also assisted in helping me find the two additional items I found myself searching for on the shelves. There was an incident where the other female clerk went to help a customer outside at his car and very rudely ran into me enough where I reached out for balance with no apology for the bump. I chalked it up to shear rudeness, got rung up by Shelby and left. All in all, I like the simplicity of the small local hardware store and liked that staff seem to know their customers by name. You miss that in the large box stores (Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, etc).
Welp cant deny they got great service, they always greet everyone as yall come inside and show you where to go. However they do have limited supplies and they dont have everything of what I needed. Especially in small engine parts, even if I bought a mower from them. Also the tax is kinda hefty.
Absolutely great service and fair prices not the cheapest but you dont really want the cheapest you want quality and a local business to remain here that will provide service and employment for local people. I have no desire to spend my money all at the big box stores. Thank you New Albany Ace Hardware!
Feels like a small town store because they immediately offer to help when you walk in. Ive always gotten what I need and theyve even helped me think outside the box when trying to fix things in my house that were originally done strangely. I rarely go elsewhere when I need anything for my house.
The New Albany Ace Hardware is one of my favorite places to shop! The staff is beyond friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. And, the best part is, they are dog friendly! I love to pop in to quickly pick something up when Im walking my dog or if I have her with me - she gets spoiled with lots of treats and pets by their team :-) They always remember her! I also think the Ace-brand products are superb and they definitely have the best rewards program for any home improvement store (you cant beat their mailed coupons).
Great hardware store if you are looking to switch it up from home depot. Smaller store so easier to navigate, intellectual employees, impressive selection for the sq footage and rarely overcrowded. If you are in a pinch and need something quickly def the place to go, looking for a power tool then head to HD as Aces selection is sub par especially in the cordless lithium ion department. Ace, word of advice, corded tools were great in the nickle cadmium days and in some cases like non portable saws still are; but its 2019 and every other hardware store focuses on cordless tools bc as a consumer thats what is currently dominating and will for the foreseeable future own the market, youd have a lot more of my business if you stepped it up in that department.
Purchased a lawnmower in August, 2017 and used it briefly last fall. It will not start this spring. Manager, Dave, was uncooperative when problem was explained. Lawnmowers leaving their store are no longer their problem. Customer Service is terribly lacking. I was surprised at his lack of concern and misinformation.
Online order, lost and never shipped to New Albany store. Managers not willing to help find or call. Going to be 4 weeks on April 22. Credit card already paid for. I suggest shopping at Home Depot or Lowes or Amazon. Day time staff and manager clueless. Never shopping at Ace Hardware New Albany, which is actually in the City of Columbus. Do not let the white fences full you

2022-06-17I needed a new grille in a big hurry. Everywhere was quoting over a week for delivery except Ace. So I placed an order through their website as the promise date was too good to be true.I followed up with the New Albany store and spoke with Tami who was excellent to communicate my needs. On the day of delivery Conner was equally as nice to work with and help with setup.I normally shop at the other two major hardware stores but this level of customer support and communication I recd from Ace has won my future business. Thanks for saving our weekend bbq!

2022-04-28Basically the place was fully staffed. It was so staffed that we were asked if we needed help in every department. I mean, thats cool I guess. Were very helpful for us in finding screws. They liked our shirts. Which was nice of them to say that. I mean. I dunno what you guys are doing but the employees so seem happy to be there. Also there was a rib truck and a lemonade stand there? Wow. Fun.

2022-04-24They were sold out of what I needed at the Westerville Ace, but after the associates at Westerville called over to New Albany, Ron was there waiting with item in hand for me. So whether youre on Westerville or New Albany, visit Ace of your going to a hardware store. Thanks, Ron!

2021-10-31Visited this particular Ace Hardware for the first time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices were a little higher than expected (Even for an Ace Hardware), but the conveniences of getting what I needed, versus having to fight my way down North Hamilton Road, just to get to Home Depot, was well worth it.Will definitely visit this location again.

2021-10-11Fine store. Didn’t have a strike plate for a door handle. Had to buy a new handle.
