Update:Another outstanding job done! My aging central A/C died at the start of a heat wave. Nelson Comfort exceeded again: Better quality equipment for less cost than the competition, installed promptly despite the busy season. They left everything tgey touched clean and tidy. The new system is performing perfectly. I shouldnt even bother asking other installers for quotes: Nelson Comfort is The Best!Previous review:I took bids from four installers for my new HE natural gas furnace, and Nelson exceeded all others. Courteous and helpful salespeople, by far the best equipment for the price, and they were energetic and flexible on the installation. They are at the top of my list for future installations, upgrades, and service.
If there was a 10 star rating I would give it to Ryan, as he was incredible! He worked efficiently and was very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything to me and asked if I had any questions. He also provided some recommendations that I wasn’t aware of to help with airflow and cleanliness. I will only go through Nelson Comfort moving forward because my experience can’t be beat.
The technician was unable to repair the heating system on a Saturday emergency call and quoted me a $713 control board but was unable to tell me if that would fix the problem. I paid him $129 on invoice 93663573 for the visit but he was unable to properly troubleshoot the problem. When I called in a second opinion on Sunday, he was able to get the furnace working by pulling some codes from the control board and unclogging the condensate trap. Turns out I am going to replace the whole furnace and outside A/C unit because it is so old and wore out. But at least I was able to get my tenant heat while we wait for the new units to come in. Sorry for your loss.
Cody responded to my call to the answering service within 15 minutes and committed to arriving within 45 minutes and arrived on time. He diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes and successfully repaired our heating system under 10 minutes. We had heat on a night that was 20 degrees. Thank you Cody and the Nelson Comfort team!
My furnace stopped working. Called Nelson and the tech was at my house in about 4 hours. He was friendly and new what he was doing. The repair consisted of replacing a $40 igniter, the cost was $350. It took about 15 mins. They keep the parts in stock and fixed the problem, the markup is extremely high.
Furnace went out in the middle of the night, so I called Nelson Comfort. They initially misdiagnosed the issue and had poor communication about follow up visits. After more than 72 hours without the furnace functioning correctly, I finally called another company to fix the issue.
Love the geothermal unit BUT it has been a YEAR and if they dont respond to me (I have left 2 messages) about resolving how their contractor left our front yard, after he dug the trench for the unit, I WILL HAVE A BIG ISSUE. We paid them A LOT of money and expressed concern about this from the beginning. They said it would settle. It hasnt. Now they need to address it.
We’ve been using Nelson for years. Always great. We recently purchased a home and the AC broke the day we moved in. Nelson sent someone out that day. Technician, Cody, was friendly and professional. He gave us options for repairing our AC. Nelson came through for us again.
Took over two weeks to repair heating system. First technician had absolutely no idea what he was doing. Replaced a thermostat that didnt need to be replaced. When that didnt fix the problem, he ordered another part we didnt need. Company sent out a 2nd technician, Larry. (I rate Larry 5 stars). He was kind and knowledgeable and knew exactly what was wrong. He ordered a replacement part but the company ordered the wrong part so the repair was delayed again. I did finally get the repair made and everything has been working again. There were some billing issues and after countless messages left with the company, no one ever bothered to call me back. Poor customer service.
We have been Nelson customers for over 25 years and are EXTREMELY happy with them. They are very professional and explain things in a way that the common person can understand. We had the pleasure of meeting Cody Carpenter who quickly diagnosed what the problem was and took care of offering us suggestions on the coolant situation and other helpful hints . We have always had the service agreements with them and they are very worth getting. He also remembered us because he worked on my father-in-laws system. Overall another great job by a very satisfied customer. Thanks Cody
Spencer was wonderful! My sister & brother in-law found out their AC unit wasnt blowing cool air the day before my sister was admitted to the hospital to deliver her first child. I scheduled & sat in for the appointment while they were away. On short notice Nelson Comfort got us an appointment immediately so the issue could be resolved prior to bringing a newborn home. Spencer arrived & was extremely thorough, informative, & honest. Our entire family is extremely grateful & Nelson Comfort is now all of our preferred HVAC servicer going forward!
Larry with Nelson Comfort is awesome. Larry replaced our blower motor and module and serviced our geothermal unit in a couple hours. He was professional and very knowledgeable. If only the home warranty company would have let us use Nelson Comfort like we wanted to, from the start. Instead we went 7 weeks without a/c or heat and had to deal with 2 different incompetent contractors. Long story short, Larry and Nelson Comfort got us squared away. Thank you Nelson Comfort for getting our geothermal unit working again!
Ryan was very professional and knowledgeable. He replaced my humidifier. Ryan took his time and explained everything to me in language that I clearly understood. This was especially helpful to me because I am a senior citizen. When it is time to have my furnace replaced, I will definitely choose Nelson Comfort.
Nelson managed and installed Geothermal at my house which was totally renovated. The new system has been great and Nelson was extremely patient with me while renovations were going on. They worked around my schedule and made some good suggestions on changes to make while renovating. Our house is much more comfortable and even temperature. The geothermal works great, is very quiet and extremely efficient. I have already saved a bunch of money on heating costs from last year to this year and look forward to the lower power bills in the future. Thanks for all the great service and suggestions!
Our tech, Zach, arrived as scheduled and was wearing a face mask, shoe covers and gloves. He was careful about social distancing. This was a regular contracted call to service our AC unit, but he suspected a leak in the cooling coils (ice had formed on the bottom fins and tubing). He advised we would have no AC until he could find the leak, but he had another scheduled call.Fortunately, he was able to return after his last call. He ran a leak test and found the AC coil would need replacing, but could not be scheduled until the parts came in. He completed our service check, adjusted our heat pump to give us some cooling (90+ degrees all week!) and cleaned up everything before leaving. We were charged only $85 for the leak test and given a fair quote of about $1,300 to replace the coil and recharge the system (our parts are still under a 10-year warranty). We hope Zach is assigned to our repairs when the new coil arrives. He was thorough, very friendly, professional and efficient. Nelson Comfort is lucky to have Zach on their team!
Ron Miller (Service Supervisor) for Nelson Comfort is the only GeoThermal technician we trust for our home. He does excellent work and trains his team in an efficient manner. We need more technicians like him to service our areas, I know and trust him for years and he keeps my GeoThermal unit alive and well, thanks Ron and team!
Other furnace repair companies could not come to my house at a scheduled time. Spencer should up at 8:00 AM sharp. He quickly found the problem with my furnace. He quickly made the repair, and some suggestions to me to help me keep my furnace in tip top shape. I highly recommend Spencer and his company.
Very satisfied with Nelson Comfort, and the service provided by Tyler. He was punctual, friendly and very professional. He diagnosed the problem correctly and took care of it. He was clear in his explanation and his recommendations for getting optimum service from our AC. We definitely recommend this business.
The work done by Nelson Comfort has always been very professional! I had my old furnace that old uninstalled and reinstalled a new one. The team was great in trying to work around my schedule and provided very compatible quote for the furnace unit and labor. I would strongly recommend this company if you are thinking of doing any HVAC work.
Larry was a consummate professional; quickly diagnosed the problem with our AC unit that another company had over diagnosed. Larry not only saved us money on this repair but time (90 day!). Very grateful and we will cut ties with the other company and will now use Nelson Comforts service plan going forward because of his efforts in resolving the issue.
Tyler K. was extremely professional, polite, thorough and knowledgeable. He performed emergency weekend repair of my furnace. He is the only service person I have had in my home within the past year (and there have been a few) that actually came in with not only a face covering, but shoe coverings, as well. I highly recommend Tyler and Nelson Comfort.
My wife and I had noticed last week that the pull-out handle on the disconnect for our central air was completely missing. Since you cant buy just a new pull-out handle, we knew wed have to replace the whole disconnect. We were going to replace the disconnect ourselves, but a substantial amount of rust and odd wiring convinced us to just bite the bullet and hire a professional. After seeing all of the great reviews for Nelson Comfort, we decided to have them come out to do this work. I called and told them that we needed a new 30 amp disconnect for our central air. I was pleased when they got us scheduled for only 2 days later -- much sooner than I thought -- and we were told the technician would be here between 3pm-5pmI left work early to be home by 3, and was a bit annoyed when I didnt receive a call from the tech until close to 6pm. Not really a huge deal, to be honest -- I understand the technicians have long days, but better communication wouldve saved me some PTO.Anyway, the technician arrives and I show him the old disconnect. He takes a look at our central air unit, checks the coolant, and then, after looking in his van, lets us know hes only got a 60 amp disconnect with him so he cant perform the work.At this point, I was pretty annoyed that Id taken time off work to have a technician show up late without the part I TOLD them I needed -- he then advised that hed get me a quote to come back to do the disconnect, but that I still owed the $79 service call fee.Now I was extremely annoyed, and I told the technician as much. He said he didnt know who I talked to when I made my appointment, but that he cant carry every part, which sounded simply like poor communication between the office staff and the techs. In the end, I begrudgingly paid the damn fee, which is the last money well give to Nelson. They wanted $350 (plus another $79 service fee? Im not exactly sure) to come back to do the disconnect, but well find someone else. Given all the great reviews, Im sure theyre a wonderful company; unfortunately, they really blew it with us.
We needed to make some repairs on our hot water heating system and called Nelson Plumbing. It was easy to make an appointment, the technician arrived right on time and he assessed and repaired the initial problem. During a routine inspection, he also found another problem. Unexpected as it was, repairing the system put our heating system in perfect working order for (hopefully) many years to come. I appreciated the professionalism, the cleanliness and thoroughness that came from Nelson. Well done!
Matt was very friendly and enthusiastic. He hustled every moment he was here and explained what he had installed. He’s a keeper. We were impressed with the quick response from Nelson. A highly regarded competitor was solicited for a bid. They contacted me after Nelson had installed. Great job.
We moved to Cincinnati in 2006 and began having our furnace and air conditioner serviced by another company. They seemed to do well until a few years later one Spring, right after a service technician had been here for our twice annual inspection, I was mowing my lawn and I noticed that the platform under the air conditioner had collapsed and the AC unit was twisted. Like I said, the technician had been to our house the day before and he didnt say anything to us about this. I called the owner to explain my findings and over the course of a couple days we missed each others phone call, but basically he never did call me back! At that time I decided that when it came time to buy a new air conditioner I would look for a different company. We purchased an air conditioner from Nelson and we have been extremely happy with the service Nelson provides and the air conditioner they installed.
I had an absolutely outstanding experience with Nelson Comfort. The service technician from Nelson Comfort was courteous, polite and very knowledgeable. He showed up right on time and quickly fixed the problem I had with the air conditioner in my new house, and he took the time to explain and show me what I could do to prevent the issue from reoccurring in the future. I would very highly recommend Nelson Comfort. Ive used Nelson Comfort for over 8 years and have always had very positive experiences.
We have used Nelson Comfort for 20 years, first with our old furnace and then purchased a new furnace and air conditioning system from them several years ago. In all that time, we have found them to be dependable, efficient , and honest in their dealings with us. We highly recommend them.
I recently replaced my old air conditioner, including compressor and attic air handler. A Nelson professional provided a detailed quote and I selected them from a list of three companies for the installation. The work was done on time at the agreed price. A complication developed shortly after installation. I was pleased with the followup service provided by Nelson to correct the issue; handling problems is an important measure of company performance in my book. I am happy with my new air conditioner.
We have little confidence in the work done. Tyler expressed his own uncertainty concerning how to complete the needed repair numerous times. During the four hours, he tracked mud throughout the house (he did finally put on shoe covers at the very end when he came to settle the bill). Attention to detail was lacking as access panel to furnace was not replaced and service manual was not returned to compartment on unit. Since we have a service contract with Nelson (for the time being) we request a different tech in the future.
9/2020This visit was a testament to why I have Nelson Comfort out on a regular basis to check my system. Larry, great buy, found that the refrigerant was low as well as the compressor was pulling too many amps at startup, which happens about 600 times a season and likely more in my house. So the filter was changed, the refrigerant was topped off, and he inserted a device to drop the cranking amps back within spec. All of these measures extend the life of this unit. Is the free? No. Is it cost effective. Yes.2/2020I had them back this winter and they found my humidifier valve was clogged. Fixed it without a problem or extra charge. Thanks team!Initial ReviewIve now been doing business with Nelson for many years and will continue to do so.We have purchased the summer and fall maintenance contract and it has definitely come in handy. Last summer we had a component on our heat pump break on a Sunday. The service tech was there in a few hours, replaced the part and filed a warranty claim for us. Thanks to the contract there was no extra charge for a Sunday visit and Im pretty sure there was a small discount on the new part plus the credit for the warranty.Im also thankful that once a year they are there to clean up the system and replace my high capacity filter.
All i can say is WOW!!! This guy Zach the technician really knew his stuff! Will definitely be coming back and requesting him for sure with any further problems. Man the guy was a real life saver. Damn near asked him to move he was such a nice young man. Thank you Nelson crew
I used Nelson many years ago for furnace and duct work on another home. They were professional, courteous and informative. As a result, I contacted Nelson when my AC unit was not working properly.Elliot, the Salesman, was patient with my many questions, courteous and professional. He did not sale with pressure tactics. He fostered a sense of trust and comfort. I purchased a new AC unit and had to have some duct work modifications. The HVAC techs, Tom and Art, arrived in a timely manner. Both men were consistently kind, worked together with a sense of ease, professional, courteous and thoroughly cleaned up after the job was completed.I am totally pleased with my experiences with all services provided by Nelson Comfort.
This is the second year Ive used Nelson Comfort, and theyre been terrific every time theyve been to my home to do routine maintenance on our HVAC system. Their prices are reasonable, they do great work, and theyre a local business. All around win in my opinion. I definitely recommend reaching out to them if you need a quality HVAC contractor.
We have been using Nelson’s for years at our previous home to service our GEO on their service plan. Larry kept our system in tip top shape! We moved recently and needed the new systems tuned up and some smart thermostats installed. Larry came out and took care of everything we needed and suggested some items to keep everything running as it should.Bottom line is I trust Nelson. Always on time for the appointment and they don’t leave my house a mess. Plus, Larry is friendly with my two silver labs!
Larry, our repairman, promptly diagnosed and fixed our air conditioning problem. On a day with temperatures over 90 degrees, it was a pleasure to deal with a reputable company and get our air conditioning running smoothing so quickly. We highly recommend Nelson Comfort.
I had Nelson Comfort replace my furnace in 2012 and I just had them replace my A/C this September (2018). I contract for the Comfort Care Plan each year to service the units. I have had great experiences with their service techs, their installers, their sales team, and the people who answer the phone - all very professional and helpful. I recommend them highly.David F., Cincinnati
I had a unique space difficult attic space that I wanted heated and not only did they know what kind of unit AND find a unit to fit the tiny available space -it took them 3 times to get everything working and circulating properly but they kept working till it was right! Anne was wonderful to talk to and very prompt at letting me know changes in schedules or delays. I’m glad I went with a local company and they really came through and showed they cared
Going on 3 years of using Nelson Comfort as my preventive maintenance service provider for my HVAC systems and I am totally satisfied with their performance. Scheduling semi annual inspections/cleaning/tune-ups of the systems that meet my needs is very easy and carefree. The service techs are always on time, polite, professional and answer any questions I have regarding the operation and condition of my equipment. I receive recommendations and timely estimates for any repairs or upgrades that are suggested to maintain the health and efficiency of my equipment. Prior to entering into the yearly maintenance agreement with Nelson Comfort, I had a local service provider for 25+ years but had issues the last 3-4 years with scheduling, repairs, and upgrade of my systems. The end of our relationship came when I couldnt get the Service Manager or President of the company to return my phone calls when I experienced issues with their service. To date, I have not had a need to speak with anyone at Nelson Comfort other than the schedulers or service techs and I am happy to report that I have not experienced any system failures throughout the heating/cooling seasons, nor have I had any major component fail due to their exceptional comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
It was a pleasure having Perry Mason work on my furnace/AC experience. He walked me though the what/how to dos after his work was completed and cleaned up everything from the install. Im glad I used Nelson Comfort for my heating/cooling needs and that NC really has a dedicated, polite, knowledgeable, considerate and friendly staff (such as Perry Mason) working for them. Damage was done to my one of a kind textured wall and the next day I found an abundance of sawdust in my closet and other areas. The furnace was NOT properly sealed and was leaking air all around it. From the installation of new wires to the thermostat damage was done to my one of a kind textured wall in two areas: at and above the baseboard and around the thermostat. I waited for a call from NC about the damages and what were they going to do but one called. I left messages repeatedly with no responses from NC. I m concerned about their service for the future. If I am being ignored now over damage that was done to my property by their tech, then what reassurance do I have that I will get someone to reply to my service call needs. I heard about NC from the morning show on WGRR and because they recommended them I thought I would give NC a try. I am sorry that I did. The products are fanststic but the treatment I received is less that respectful or professional.
We recently had a boiler installed for a 4 family apartment unit. This company was great they came out in a timely manner, they worked hard and cleaned up after themselves. The workers was very nice and pleasant. Called again yesterday for another issue and they had someone out within an hour. Would for recommend Nelson Comfort. A special reorganization to Tom and Micheal
Im a new customer having purchased my first home in Cincinnati. The previous owners recommended I continue a service contract with Nelson so I did. My experience was above and beyond what I expected. Elliott didnt just inspect the system and do routine maintenance. He took the time to teach me about how it works and what I can do to keep it in good shape.
Elliot went above and beyond. He was by far the most friendly technician that has ever done work at my house. I originally made an appointment for a Tuesday when my furnace started making weird sounds, but by the Friday before my appointment, my furnace was not working at all. I came home and my house was 55 degrees. When I called Nelson Comfort and talked to Lauren, she let me know that due to the cold weather, they had an abnormally high number of service appointments that day. Somehow, and thankfully, she still worked things out with Elliot and he came to look at the furnace later that night. Elliot is such a personable person that I instantly felt comfortable with him working in my house. Within a few minutes he was able to detect the problem (the blower on the furnace was not working properly). Elliot had all the parts he needed right in his vehicle and was able to repair the furnace for me right then and there. He explained exactly what he was doing and why in a way that someone who is not educated about furnaces could understand. He reviewed the pricing with me ahead of time, and ended up saving me over a hundred dollars with the care plan. He was clearly looking out for my best interest all around. He was at my house until about eight oclock on a Friday night and still had another stop to go to after he left, yet he took his time with us and really took the time to do the job right. He never once complained about having to work so late on a Friday or seemed in anything less than a great mood, even after working an extremely long work day. Elliot is definitely a special kind of person, and I will make sure he is the service person that does all the work on my furnace for as long as possible. I recommend him to anyone and everyone in need of someone to work on their furnace or air conditioning unit.
Wanted to charge me $166 per LB for R-410 refrigerant. I feel this is excessive. This is too much for something that other HVAC contractors, charge $50-$70 per pound. Said over the phone that they Loose Money on it On top of that they didnt make their appointment for Thursday afternoon, causing me to miss 1/2 a day of work, I was only informed tech was sick by scheduler right before the appointment. I wish I would have been told sooner. They rescheduled for next day, and I had to take another 1/2 day off work. I understand things happen, but please let folks know earlier if there is scheduling issue.Update following day- System wont turn on, that refrigerant is gone. Totally empty, had someone at an different company who came out and spotted in 5-10 minutes a hole in line where it was coming out of. All he did was apply some pressure and we could hear a loud hissing coming from a pipe joint. He couldnt believe it wasnt spotted right away by service tech from Nelson Comfort. Wow! Im not happy.
When we began having issues with our heat last year, we were very fortunate someone recommended Nelson Comfort! We have been very pleased with every technician that has been to our home, along with their honesty, timeliness and reasonable pricing. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to any of our friends & family!
Ron was amazing! He came to our house and went above and beyond with his service and advice. Ron was helpful, kind and safe. Ron was informative about next steps and tips for how to keep our 1900’s style house cool. We are so appreciative and highly recommend! Thank you!
Top notch service, diagnostics, repair and very customer friendly attitude. Ryan was our service person who exemplifies what a great person can do for his customer and be an invaluable asset to his company. We could not recommend Ryan any more highly and would give him 10 stars if we could.(8/19/19) Update, I did not know this when I wrote my original review however I came to find out we needed a new thermostat and Nelson had one on hand during a service call, cost of thermostat - $275.00 I found the exact make and model on Home Depot for $53.10, so roughly a mark up of 220.00 about 4x (418.9%) the retail cost not wholesale cost, retail so I called management to see if this was a mistake and I did not get a call back so I am not going to hound them for a reply I decided just to let you be the judge but beware of some outrageous markup on items installed on your behalf. Lowered my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. Got us out of a jam but gouged us in the process.
Well, I wont go into detail... suffice it to say Ive had service from Nelson numerous times and their office staff seems as knowledgeable as their field personnel: all of them are professional, expedient, and effective. In particular, Ive had great service from some guy named Nick. Hes personable, knowledgeable, and helpful.
This would be a 5 star post for great quality service and the appointment was fine. However, I am giving 4 stars for the following reason: the technician didn’t make sure our backyard gate was properly secure after examining our outdoor unit. This resulted in our German Shepherd getting out of our yard. Someone called animal control on our dog and resulted in an animal control officer citing us. In the future, please ensure all gates are closed thoroughly and are secured. That would be the only suggestion,
Spencer was excellent, professional, knowledgeable and on time. He called back last evening in a timely manner and was willing to come to our home last evening, but I told him to stay home and safe and to come in the morning, which he did. I received a text when he was on his way. Great guy!!!
Once again Im blown away by Nelsons level of customer service and professionalism! Our central air went out on one of the hottest days of summer. Just as our technician arrived, it started pouring rain but that didnt stop him from getting the job done quickly and efficiently! As always, we appreciate everyone at Nelson and we are highly satisfied with our service.
They cant be trusted. I switched to their annual preventative maintenance service 3 years ago seeing excellent online reviews, after some bad experience with another local HVAC business. Told them about a possible leak in my AC system. They replenished 2 lbs of freon without offering to test for a leak simply saying it was too expensive to test. Things were still OK when they did preventative maintenance last May.Then in early July the condenser unit outside froze. Their tech came and couldnt explain why it wasnt diagnosed in May, but suggested to replenish freon again without testing for a leak. I paid to do that but the unit started to freeze again in August. Their tech came and said the unit needed to be replaced. Again, no offer to test for a leak for the same reason. Also note that one of their techs this season said he had a side HVAC business and offered to replace my AC much cheaper than his employer (!!!).At this point I was losing my confidence in Nelson Comfort and needed a second opinion. To buy some time I agreed to add freon the 2nd time but complained to their sales person who offered to credit back what I paid for freon if I bought their new unit. But the new unit price quoted was so high making me think it was adjusted up for what I paid for freon.I then called their major local competitor, and the competitor tech diagnosed a leak in the coil in literally 5 minutes (!) using a hand-held electronic leak detector. He showed me the leak spot on the coil with visible oil streaks coming from it. I was very unhappy about Nelson Comfort service and called their service manager to request a refund who point blank refused to do anything. I then called the business owner Dan two times and left messages but hasnt called me back.I trusted them to be professional, but in the end I feel that they knowingly took advantage of me claiming that my AC problem couldnt diagnosed.
The person sent to service our furnace and thermostat was nice enough and he did the job. The thermostat works. However, he did not wear a mask in the house. I didn’t have one to offer. No service person will be allowed in our house without a mask. Everyone else from this company has arrived with a mask.
We discovered that our heat pump wasnt working, so we called Nelson Comfort this morning and they scheduled a technician to come out this afternoon. We received a phone call when the technician was on his way, and when he came in he introduced himself as Michael. He asked us what our issue was and he checked some things and determined that the landscapers had cut the sheathing off the wire that went from the furnace to the heat pump and the exposed wires had blown a fuse. Not only did Michael re-wire it, he called and had a coworker bring conduit to protect the wire in the future. I highly recommend Nelson Comfort!
They respond fairly quickly HOWEVER we purchased a Daikon system (costing over $18k) and have had several problems including improper wiring of the system at installation! They keep telling me, at each service call (6 calls in less than 3 months) that all is well! Yesterday the electricity went out in the storm and now there is another unit that is NOT working even after two attempts to “reset” the system. We have had one pump replaced and now we need another one! We also had to have a new motherboard in a brand new system!!! Why did this unit cost so much? I am beyond angry and feel like I have been taken advantage of. Is there a lemon law in AC units? So far six calls and it keeps breaking down. Sounds like the lemon law on cars. I think I got a lemon!
I have used Nelson for a number of years. 4 years ago they put in a new geothermal system and standby generator at my home. They have serviced both bi-annually since then. The generator failed to operate recently, and the service received was alarming. The technician diagnosed for almost 3 hours and eventually determined that a $700 part/repair was needed and not covered under warranty. The unit would not transfer the home back to utility power. When asked if we could simply bypass the generator to run on utility power while we waited on the part, the answer was no. After 3 days without power I called another Generac supplier locally. After coming out same day to look at the generator one simple switch was pulled to restore power to the home. Further, the $700 repair part that Nelson stated was broken was actually fine. The switch that needed replaced was recalled by Generac a couple years back. Nelson never performed the warranty campaign replacement during the numerous service calls. It was also apparent that the valves had not been timed, and two major bolt were missing from the initial install on the manifold. No firmware updates had been made during those maintenance visits either causing several faults on the unit.In short, Nelson is a good HVAC company. I would never contact them for any electrical or generator based services and unfortunately after this experience I will not be using for any services.
Very efficient and informational employees. Tom was very helpful in helping us pick a system. The quality of the furnace and central air unit they installed is impeccable for the price. They were on time and respectful about keeping our house clean and wore shoe covers. Would recommend to them anyone!
After reading the reviews I was inspired to share our waste of time and money on an over priced inefficient service call with a bonus service call & fee to be told we would have to empty our pockets even more to get results. Our Ac went out over the weekend and we called Sunday night and left a message for an appointment. The next morning we promptly received a call back our appointment window was scheduled for 12:30 to 4pm that day. I took time to rearrange my day to be home and at 4:45 the tech hadnt shown or called to say theyd be late, we called and the scheduler said his previous appointment ran over. At 5:45 he showed up, checked our unit and said we needed 5Ilbs of R-22. 30 min and $700 later he filed the unit and left. The air never cooled down and the next morning we called for follow up. They sent another tech later who confirmed we it was now low 7Ilbs and he could charge us 2k to find the problem and fix it or 8k to replace the whole unit. We opted to get a 2nd option and he charged the $130 service call charge for coming back out. We called Wed to file a complaint for the poor service calls and dispute the charges, only to be told there was a box checked on the service call that we declined a line test (that was not explained to us) and it was the best they could do.I chose to go with a smaller HVAC company and replaced everything for fraction of what they quoted.
We had a new Trane furnace & ac installed last week. We were very pleased with the work. Johnny and Art arrived on time and were friendly and answered all of our questions. They cleaned up after the work was done. I had a problem setting up the WIFI Thermostat Bob and Bruce came out and took care of it. Follow up after the job is done is very important. We would recommend to anyone.Glenn and Jan Heckman
We were very happy with our experience. We had them replace a 21 year old furnace as well as adding Central Air. Their prices were reasonable and their sales people were responsive and answered a ton of questions from us. The research we did showed that Trane came out on top as a brand compared to Amana or Lennox. After we signed the quote they had a team out within one week. The install was very smooth and they were very detail oriented with it. Would definitely recommend them.
Great experience! Too bad Nelson was my second call. Apollo told me it would take two weeks to fix, two people and a new part. It was 40 degrees inside my home and my pregnant wife and son had to stay elsewhere. They were basically pressuring us to replace our boiler. Nelson came in - assessed the situation, detailed and fixed the issue for 1/6th the cost same day. No new parts, one skilled technition, 2hrs - I told the technician I wanted to hug him he made my day. Very stressful situation handled with skill, class, and expertise.
One might think I would be unhappy with Nelson because my new (fall of 2016) Trane A/C and heating system had a few installation problems and then in spring of 2017 the A/C didnt work due to 2 small refrigerant leaks. They came and fixed those two leaks and the A/C worked well all of 2017 but then this spring of 2018 the A/C was inoperative again. Mike was sent again and he found another small leak and fixed the system. Im hoping this time the fix is permanent. I am very happy with the service performed by Nelson and it was all done under warranty. I do have some knowledge of refrigeration and A/C work and I have the greatest confidence in the work performed by Mike. I respect his expertise and work performance. Id recommend Nelson for their great follow-up. Thanks Mike.
I had an appointment with another company who scheduled me 3 days out while my AC was broken in the middle of the summer. That company cancelled 1 hour before via Text. Pissed off, I called Nelson and they sent someone out in 1 hour and fixed my issue. Also told me I had a broken part, but didnt try to sell me on fixing it. They said you probably dont need to replace it, but you can if you want. Most companies would probably lie and tell me I need a new AC unit. I will never go anywhere else.
We migrated to Nelson several years ago after they purchased our local HVAC company. Good sales but poor PM service scheduling (under contract) has led to unwarranted charges. (in my opinion)Since the purchase our PM service is not scheduled before or near the seasons start...it is forever past due. i.e. our fall/winter PM check occurs well after our heating system is needed and the same goes for our spring/summer PM service.I.E. this past summers PM did not occur until August...MONTHS after our cooling system was needed. Then 2 months later, in October, our heat failed. The service call identified a clogged drain line - the same line that should have been cleaned 60 days earlier. As I recall the repair bill was ~$300. I was livid and have been trying to get the owner, Dan Detmer, to return my call for ~3 weeks. Ive left VM messages and he has received several hand written requests from his receptionist to no avail. Mediocre follow-through at best. The owner FINALLY called and reduced our charge to $200 which we paid. And as of 12/7 (post date for above) our fall/winter PM had not been scheduled.FOLLOW-UP in January 2019 one of our heat ex-changers failed - the part was not available SO the manufacturer (not Nelson) agreed to replace the system - nice gesture BUT it cost us $817.38 :-(Very FRUSTRATING
Very good install, friendly salesman, and good company - PRIOR to getting your money. I was told that within two weeks of install that Id receive confirmation that they would file paperwork with Duke to receive a $425 credit. This was never received, and must be something that the installation company does (I cannot file with Duke myself). Being concerned with this large amount of money I did call, e-mail, and use the contact us form to try and get an answer as to have this has been done. Never got any contact back - complete opposite of how they were prior to receiving my money.Be careful if you use this company. Follow-up service is abysmal and I would no longer recommend this company to friends or family moving forward.7/5/19 EDIT: I wanted to be fair and update this to reflect that I was finally able to get a hold of someone. After reaching out to Duke I found out that they did not file for my Smart Thermostat while filing for my HVAC so my credit is $125 less than it should be due to an error caused by Nelson.
I was looking to add air conditioning to an older Ranch. The unit needed to be installed in the Attic. I had several HVAC companies out to give me an estimate. Nelson wasnt the lowest and it wasnt the highest but it was the best deal for the Trane system I was looking for. Tom and Art were great. They showed up on time, pleasant to talk to, funny and knew their stuff. The install, being a retrofit from the attic because of my finished basement was a challenge but these guys made it happen. The unit is quiet and has been running flawlessly since they installed it. I would definitely recommend Nelson to anyone looking for HVAC work.
Very professional and courteous. From the initial consultation to the installation, I never felt like I was cheated or being sold something I didnt need. I especially appreciated the consult since it was kept short and to the point with no gimmicks. Highly recommended.
He is a good young man, and a farmer to boot. He is polite, smart, a good technician, and overall a good one for you to have.Keep him. Thanks for being our Whatever for so many years, I think even when we lived in Indian Hill and were Rich. Now are are poor and live in Oakly, but as they say, Oakly is the new Hyde Park, and believe me, Madisonville, where I was born, is the new Oakley. Have you seen Whetsel and Madison Road. OMG.....Jim Metzger
HORRIBLE rip off. came to fix the furnace clogged drain said they didnt have the right pvc pipe cut the pipe in half told me hundreds more for them to go to home depot and get $3.47 of pvc to complete repair, never even flushed the line, etc, etc and left it for me to fix and charged me $165 for absolutely nothing! Now I have to fix myself and I paid $165 for nothing. RUN from this company dont ever use how dare they show up not fix the problem and chg me $165 to cut the pvc pipe in half and leave it broke unless I pay hundreds more for them to go get $3.47 of pvc to fix it! Oh yes exactly $3.47 and I have the receipt and must now repair my own furnace and the pipe they cut in half

2022-06-17Very honest and respectable company. Had an issue with billing that included unapproved work from a technician. The company was fair about the work and removed it from the bill. All the office staff members were super respectful and prompt about addressing issues. After the system was fixed, there was a new issue that occurred. They sent out their tech promptly to address the issue. Overall, we will be using this company again should we need further work due to their phenomenal customer service.

2022-04-06Steven was great! We moved in to a new home that has geothermal heating & cooling. We had no knowledge of how the system worked. Steven took the time to explain everything and taught us how everything works. Very happy to have their service and will use them again in the future!

2022-05-12Ive used Nelson Comfort ever since I moved in 14 years ago. Every single person at this company presents themselves in a professional manner and always leave the job site better than they found it - thats one of the reasons I keep coming back. Theyll answer you straight even if its not in their best interest as a company - and often I find that their advice on next steps or equipment choices ends up being the decision Id make myself. Besides A/C, in the past theyve also installed a thermostat and a furnace for me - all top notch jobs. The most recent gentlemen Ive had here (Matt, Mike and Eric) all were great to work with. Love this company and couldnt recommend higher.

2022-06-01We had a mini split unit installed in our upstairs bedroom, which is a finished attic. The difference in the quality of our sleep has been significant. Our technician Matt was timely, professional, and efficient. We will definitely use them again for any heating/cooling needs!

2022-06-02From the maintenance tech who had to inform me it was time for a new A/C system (it had been pending for several years) to the Installation of the new system, all were A-one, 5-star, Blue Ribbon! Nelson Comfort has not disappointed me in all the years Ive been with them.

2022-06-17A/C repair service for a unit they sold and installed for me several years ago. They were easy going on the phone and onsite. They listened to me and worked with me (i didnt want to void my warranty, fixing a repair i could of handled on my own technically, by ordering a generic matching part online) w2They fixed the problem I had diagnosed quickly once they made it out here to service the unit.. I would of subtracted a star for that in my review, except I filled out a thing on their website for a free service call with any repair. The part was under limited warranty for 10 years. I ordered the unit 4-5 years ago. They indtalled it and carried parts on service vehicles for these Trane A/C units. In my case it was a bad capacitor for the outside fan. Onsite test and repair took 30 minutes or less and I only paid the limited warranty (predefined) price for that part, and the service call fee waived (for free). So, we were back up and running in no time after that. Been fine the last few days since the repair and its only gotten hotter outside each day since. Thank you!

2022-03-18Today Nelson Comfort installed a replacement four-inch Aprilaire Media passive air filter to replace the 20-year old electronic air cleaner. They also installed an I-Wave ionizer internally to the airducts at the furnace, which cleans the air and kills pathogens. So the house should have cleaner air and also provide a measure of safety even against the COVID virus, which apparently the I-Wave will kill on contact. The technician Tyler was right on time at 8:00am and finished his work ahead of schedule. He showed me the installation and his work and is very professional. I would recommend the company and their services. their technicians are always politeand respectful of the house and wear booties and masks as well.Today is another day, 3.17.22. Matt came out and arrived at 7:50am, right on time. I am remodeling the lower level family room, which on the last remodel did not include supply ductwork for heating and cooling. Matt installed two supply ducts and one return duct, and closed off an supply elsewhere and made a couple of other small repairs. He was very attentive, listened carefully, and took care of the little details. He was outstanding. Very pleased, Finished by 11:10am.
