Wanted to get out here weeks ago. Definitely worth the wait. Word of advice. Get there early on the weekend for the lobster!!! The waitresses were very attentive. I wish Ms. Jade much success!!!
Drove up from Cincinnati to try it. Really nice clean spot. Simple but good. The fried shrimp appetizer was really good.I got the love seasoned crab and my husband had the rose gold with yams and cornbread.The cornbread was not warm which we thought was unusual but it was tasty.Everything was decent. They have a really nice outdoor area.
Ive been wanting to come here for a couple years now. Today my husband & i finally stopped in!! Hush puppies were delicious. Salmon patties were delicious. Candied yams were delicious. Collard greens were amazing. Seasoned perfectly!!! Strawberry cheesecake was delicious and creamy!!!! They were unfortunately out of potato salad & strawberry banana pudding but well definitely be returning!! Staff was friendly. Service was great. The owner smiled & waved as we were on our way out. Definitely recommend if youre in need of comfort/soul food!!!!!
Its about time, a Soul Food restaurant with good soul food. Everything I ordered was excellent. The customer service was great. The location was good. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will definitely be returning.
I was excited to try this place. I was not disappointed at all! I had the Catfish with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. It was the best catfish I have eaten! It gets better though I ordered the fried green tomatoes that were out of this world!! Amazing food. I will be back!
I ordered a grilled and a fried lobster with corn bread and corn on the cob. Strawberry cheesecake. Finger lickin delicious. Super nice folks too! Cant wait to go back!
Very nice people and cool atmosphere. The drinks are a bit high. I had a double of hen and it was $20. I didnt like the catfish it was mushy on the inside. The greens had to many stems for my taste. The mac need a lil help but my wings was cool. I didnt like the house made hot sauce tho. Stick with the Franks red hot!
OH.MY.GOODNESS! Ive never had authentic soul food like this and its SOOO GOOOD! 🤤😍 I got fried green tomatoes but my group got chicken, fish, pork chops. We all left happy & stuffed! Mz. Jade is one of the sweetest people..and did I mention the food is fabulous?! Definitely be back!
I must say I was disappointed in the food. Service was good. Nice atmosphere. But wanted to check this place out for the first time. So we went for my birthday dinner. Had one of everything on the menu between the party and a mamba burger to go. Two seafood boils that were ice cold. The corn was so soggy it had to be from a few nights or night before. Mac n cheese really wasnt as good as advertised. No cast iron corn bread or pemento balls. If your going to ho just get the deep fried lobster tails. Those were actually good
Mz Jade, Cherry and their team gets MAD respect from me. I so enjoyed the conversation I had with Cherry who was so nice and a excellent drink mixer, and the hostess forgive me for forgetting your name but you were wonderful too. Of course the food was magnificent southern cooking, I got the pulled pork. This place is a must if your even considering it. I wish the best for everyone there and Ill be back soon :)
It was awesome! I had the fried catfish, collard greens and candied yams all were very tasty. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and they were playing good music from back in the day, Prince, Sheila E, Michael Jackson, etc! Had a wonderful time all around!
I cant express how delicious the food tastes. The potato salad and Cajun burger were by far the best I have ever tasted.My wife loved the salmon patties and most of my potato salad...We will be back!
Great atmosphere. The food is amazing especially the fried catfish. Our server Naiyai was very nice and made great suggestions. The serving size is more than enough. I will definitely be back.
The service was great and the food came out hot. The waitress was vary attentive and I didnt have to ask for anything. The patio area is really nice, looking forward to being there with the water falls on. Ill be back for more soon.
Sorry the crab legs were so over cooked that they were rubber, no way to Crack them, what little meat we could get was awful.The Seasoning was spot on, the potatoes were spot on, the corn was great and the sweet tea was perfect. $80.00 it was not worth what we got that you couldnt eat. And the only thing we got was Im sorry.
Mz. Jade accommodated me for a business zoom call with 1 days notice. As soon as I entered the restaurant I felt relaxed and joyful. Her newest location on Central, knocked my socks off, so impressed!After our work was done, my boss and I enjoyed an order of grilled jumbo shrimp and fried green tomatoes. Both were flavorful and perfectly prepared. (I eat a lot of fried green tomatoes...so I am kind of an expert lol).Our waitress, Janessa, (I am so sorry for probably misspelling your name) was wonderful. Everything was so good I got fried okra to go.Im looking forward to karaoke for PRIDE 🌈🏳️🌈tomorrow 🤩😍🤩😁😁😁😁

My girlfriend and I stopped here for dinner Saturday night before going to the Sorg Theater. We were seated promptly and waited on right away. The only problem I had was choosing what I wanted. The menu has so much to choose from and everything I love. I selected the cod fish, salad and yams. The cod was fried to perfection and NOT greasy. The yams were to die for and the salad was very good with an array of greens. My friend also got the cod, cabbage and mac & cheese. Every thing was delicious. The corn bread was delicious. I usually only like my own, and I have southern roots so I know what good corn bread is and I was not disappointed. The diner was very clean. The restrooms were very clean. Our server was VERY friendly. Everyone was very friendly and genuine. I can not wait to go back. There are so many other things I want to try. !! Try it. You will not be disappointed.
So disappointed, was hoping so bad to love this place! I don’t know if it’s because it’s Tuesday or what. They were out of literally I mean literally every food you could order. Service was sooooooo slow with the server we had… but every other servers were good and actually working. Appetizer also came out with the food. Wish they could turn the lights down a notch, pretty bright. Soul food I think of dim lights and souly. Lights above booths are very pretty!!!! Pretty inside is definitely a plus!! We will try this place again on the weekend and see if we can change this review

I throughly enjoyed the food. It was delicious. It was my first visit.im from El Paso, TX. I was visiting my daughter and son in love. They recently ate there and wanted me to try it. I have nothing but positive comments about my visit. I will definitely look forward to eating there on my next visit. The restraint was very clean the service was above expectations. The prices were great and the portions were adequate.

The food was pretty good but they were out of a few things I wanted to try. I was in a large group but I think they should have been better prepared since we called a week ahead. I am very willing to try again, however, cuz I love some southern cookin.

Staff was welcoming and friendly. The food can be great but its not going to make a difference if you dont have good staff- every employee we interacted with was super nice.The food though- trust me when I say, just try it. Catfish was perfectly cooked and seasoned- so much so that we didnt even use the homemade tartar sauce or hot sauce.Fried green tomatoes were excellent, ask for extra Mz Jades Soul Sauce 🤌Every side we had was greatThe burger though- Its called a Soul Stack; I got the NoNo which is a double cheeseburger with fried green tomatoes in it with Mz Jades soul sauce- I dont know what type of beef it was, maybe ground sirloin? I just know it was quality meat and baby was it seasoned!! It came with two sides as well, I carbed out and got sweet potatoes and the potato salad- I cant say anything bad about our experience though I wish they had sweet potato pie ( Not that I had any room for it) Will definitely be back!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you for having us! Here’s my opinion on my experience on 4/23/22. Approximately 3pm. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our table was right by the patio and albeit a nice view and breeze : that table had too much traffic for patrons .We were given water while we looked over the menu: they water was tap and not pleasant at all . I ordered a Long Island which was weak at best.I decided to order the fish , green and yams only to be given cabbage but quickly rectified with a free side, also cornbread (JIFFY) aht aht!!! . A true soul food joint would NEVA!!!! The yams could have been better in terms of flavoring as I sampled my friends. Didn’t taste any brown sugar. The whitening was fried well , however overtly salted with whatever seasoning salt they used on top after frying:… the fish fry is already seasoned so that was over kill and difficult to eat however washing it down with the weakest Long Island did help. The greens were mediocre and the Mac and cheese was over cooked noodles with cheese.The serving size of the sides are too small!!! PERIODT I understand inflation- profit!!! However remember customers do come first!!! Up the sizes SIS!!!They were BBQ-ing but didn’t see that on the menu.Lastly. Our server nose was running which she used the back of her hand to wipe her snot off her nose as she put out silverware- her pants were dirty and inside out . Taking pride in your appearance is KEY!
I dined in with me my husband and my 3 kids I was so excited till I received my meal. The boil was delicious but the portions are ridiculous for what I paid for. The chicken dinner was expensive and it came out burnt, Mac n cheese was bland, and my children refused to eat it so it was a waste. My server was the only bright of the experience. But I was disappointed she knew it was burnt and served me the plate anyway.
Today I turned 50. I was standing outside on the sidewalk, downtown Middletown Ohio and I heard / felt warmth from across the street. I followed the sounds and feeling right into Mz. Jades Soul Food. Best part ofy day. Food and Service were spectacular. Cant wait to eat there again. 😋
I absolutely love this place! Mz Jade is always there cooking up something incredible! You can literally taste the love she puts into her food! The new location is 10/10 stars as well!!!

Food was really good. I am not typically a fan of bone-in wings, however these had really good flavor and quite a bit of meat to them. The mac n cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy were also amazing! Also tried the corn bread which is a mix of sweet and just plain cornbread it was a nice addition to the food.I am not one to usually get desserts at restaurants, however, all of there desserts are made from scratch. Made by someone who is passionate about her desserts which really shows! The Cinnamon chocolate cake had a nice flavor with a nice hint of cinnamon with neither being over powering Which gave it a wonderful taste especially for those not wanting something with a strong chocolatey taste. Where as the chocolate crack pie was absolutely amazing! It tasted like someone mixed brownie batter with a chocolate pie and it was fantastic! Very rich, very good.The food was a good value for what I got. It was $10.99 for a dinner and two sides. The pie/cake was $3 a slice or $8 for a whole. All of those accompanied with very nice staff, It was all very much worth it. The menu may be small but the people who make it, did so with lots of love and care.

The real deal! Had the meatloaf which was juicy, flavorful, and hearty and Cajun burger that is topped with perfectly cooked shrimp and a cheese sauce, with greens and fried green tomatoes on the side. Need to make it back to work through the menu!
So this is the 2nd day in a row that I have eaten here. Its a nice establishment and clean. FYI there are no tables so you cant eat in the restaurant. Everyone is friendly, service is quick, food is delicious and proportions are great. I have missed soul food spots since moving from TN so anytime I am in Middletown I am stopping by...you should do the same! Sorry but I already started eating before taking the picture LOL.

2nd and last order the greens were just cut and cleaned this morning not even fully cooked they have no flavor whatsoever a pork chops are tough and not smothered like I ordered the gravy is like water and I ordered fries cornbread and rice they didnt contact me let me know that they were out of cornbread I called before I placed the order to make sure that the rice will be included and it wasnt and the they had fries and didnt get them.very disappointed and I will never order from there again
Visited Mz Jades for the first time today! Hands down, the BEST ribs and greens I’ve ever had. The ribs literally melt in your mouth. The greens are seasoned perfectly! Will definitely be back! Can’t wait till they are in Hamilton!

I was with a group of 6 people who decided to visit the establishment close to 8pm on a Saturday night. The website said closing time was 10pm. As we approached the street it was dark no outside lights were on. We saw people inside and decided to proceed in. We were greeted friendly and had our orders taken. The price wasnt bad and the wait wasnt long. I ordered pork chops Mac n chz and greens corn bread Dinner. 1 chops was fresh and the other one wasnt. The Mac n chz was milky and not flavored nor cheesy the greens were good so was the cornbread which also wasnt fresh. The seasoning was on point. I would suggest not to sell anything for a profit that you wouldnt enjoy yourself. Honestly is the best practice 🙌. Wishing you continued success in your endeavors.
The seating is a little tight so I wasnt sure how its was gonna go. The staff is friendly and the wait on the food wasnt too long... That being said the Crab Boil was sooooo good that I would have waited 2 days for it and ate it while sitting on the floor. One of the best things I ever ate. I wanted to run through the streets telling everyone how good it was. I also tried the wings and fries which were also good. But the crab boil was DELICIOUS.
Edited: I appreciated the good customer service from mz jade and staff making my second experience better than my first!!!!!! I throughly enjoyed my meal the smothered chicken was definitely on point!!!!!Highly disappointed!!!!!!! I drove all the way here on my way to Cincinnati from Columbus even double checking to see what time they were closing today and was told 7 only to arrive at 6 and the location being closed!!!!!! If there was a even a potential for you to close early that could’ve been said when I called and I would’ve just tried to come on a different day. I and completely sadden I drive this way for nothing

Very yummy! Their garlic pork chops and wings were delicious! The catfish sandwich was also very good. I’m a bit picky about fish, but I will definitely eat their fish options in the future just based on the catfish. For our sides we had greens, yams, mashed potatoes, and mac. My favorite of them all was the yams. I might have to order double next time! However, I didn’t care much for the Mac and cheese and probably won’t order again out of preference.The order was timely and overall I’m very satisfied with my experience. Me, my family and friends all have been looking for a soul food restaurant and I’ve already spread the word!P.s; make sure you don’t leave without an order of the strawberry banana pudding, it hits.
More of a take out spot than eat in..crab broil was delicious,flavor on point. Family owned, very friendly. Chicken wings had great flavor as well..we drove 30 min to check them out and will go back

Great food in an unassuming location.If you look past the incredibly rough store front and focus souly on the food you will be pleasantly surprised. The service is a tad unprofessional, but the homey atmosphere of this family run joint makes up for any faux pas of service.I had garlic fried pork chops which were delicious and extremely tender. On the side I opted for soup beans that were packed with flavor and cabbage that had a bit of spice/heat but needed some basic seasoning. I chose Mac and cheese for my partner, picky eater, and wasnt disappointed. Although, the mac was just average.I really hope this place thrives as there have been many food joints in this location. As for me, I will do my part and visit on the regular!

We went for dinner and carried out. They have tables now, by the way. The food is amazing. We had one smothered pork chops dish with collard greens and cabbage mix, and pinto beans. We also got an order of Mac and cheese and french fries and a slice of sweet potato pie. The pinto beans had so much FLAVOR! I mean you could taste the layers of flavor which you can only get via time. And the Mac and cheese. I didnt know Mac and cheese could taste so good! It looked like the average mom and pop Mac and cheese. So I expected bland lack luster Mac, but, OH MY GOODNESS, it was like the spice rack aisle was having a party in my mouth. The collard/cabbage hit was as well, it had a lot of pepper but was balanced out well with other flavors. The French fries, there are no fries on the planet better than those fries. She could win any Food Network show with those fries. The whole meal was a hit with my whole family, including my 19 month old, who apparently likes cabbage now. (She really only likes Mz. Jades cabbage!) If you are looking for flavor in your food. I mean really well seasoned and tasty food, this is the place for you.

If you want even half way decent soul food, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! This was literally the worst food Ive had since I was in the hospital. Even the macaroni and cheese was barely edible. Nothing was anywhere close to hot, and my entree was in fact cold. The person with me was in 100% agreement. Never have I been more disappointed in a restaurant.

Some of the best food I’ve had in Middletown! The smothered chops, greens and mac & cheese was delicious. My friend was just as pleased with her meal. They staff was great and very friendly. We will definitely go back.
My husband and I ordered the crab boil it was absolutely Devine. It was so good I’m going back to order the crab boil today for lunch.
The people that run this restaurant are violent and threatening. I made a comment on one of their posts on Facebook that they didnt like. Now Im getting threatening messages telling me to go kill myself and nasty names. No, I do not have the wrong place. That is why I posted the screen shots.
The potato salad didnt do it for me....plain. The cabbage was little on the spicy side. Needs a little more seasoning salt. The mac and cheese was good but small portion. The quarter chicken was flavorful. The cornbread a little on the hard side. Very dry. Sorry....I really wish it was what I was expecting
I like places w small menus bc they usually have better quality food. Ordered the hot wings and Whiting both were fried and so delicious. I cant stop thinking about how good the hot sauce was. The yams were a little too sweet. And I wouldnt want to sit and eat there its not pretty but the service was ok and the food is like nowhere else around. So yummy! I couldnt take a pic bc I ate too fast.

Wonderful heavenly food that feeds your soul. Everything that I ordered was mouthwatering bliss with every bite. Mz. Jade blessed me and my meal. I havent eaten anything that has come close to my grandmothers home cooking, but Mz. Jade did. I ate until I was in a food coma. Sated and very happy. Thank you Mz. Holy Cow! I just had Ms. Jades smothered pork chops and Collard Greens and they were the best I have ever had! Jue Jue was really helpful up front in getting my order ready as well. Definitely stop by or carry out if you want to taste food they you will rarely have the pleasure of eating! I will be bringing my wife back with me next time!
Food was perfect!! Mz. Jade catered our family reunion yesterday and she outdid herself!!! Fried catfish, ribs & ribtips, macncheese, collard greens, etc....she threw down!! Highly recommend for any event...Peach Cobbler was fantastic!!! Will definitely use her again!

I’ve been four times in a month - never disappointed - the fish is so good, I haven’t tried anything else, but will be.....all sides have been tasty. Portions are a good size and I often keep some leftovers for next day’s lunch!! You cannot go wrong here...

Just stopped in and I love the family vibe. Mz. Jade is so good at promoting her business throughout her community. I just ordered a taste test of the wings. I got 5 for $5 hot wings. They had more meat than corporations and the sauce was thick n heavy w just enough kick it wasnt misery but my eyebrow still feels like sweating lolThe girls running the front was funny and warm to us. I appreciate the universal hospitality

The food was good but I did not feel welcome at all. The owner was very sweet but Im sorry to say she probably wont last long until the faces behind the counter are more friendly. I wont return to a restaurant where I do not feel welcome no matter how good the food is.

The smothered chops were fantastic and fell apart by touching them. The mac and cheese and cornbread were delectable. And i had to get strawberry koolaid instead of a pop to wash it down. Overall it was perfect.

Im a truck driver that was looking for a home cooked meal and I must say Ive found what I wanted. Bought two dinners from them. The mac n cheeze ,collards greens amd cornbread almost mad me cry it was soooo good. Got chicken wings and the pork chops. SUPERB!!! Will definetly go back when Im in the area again.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

My mother had the Seafood Boil delivered to me for my Birthday in January. Needless to say I have got to say it was absolutely delicious. Best Ive tasted.. Dont care for the sausage very much though. Wished it could be substituted for shrimp. MZ JADE you ROCK!!!!! Thank you.

Had seafood boil with crawfish. Everything about the seafood boil was great but the crawfish. Crawfish was very overcooked and mushy.

2022-04-09Delicious and very generous portions. Got the sea food boiled and loved it, the sauce was excellent. The soul sauce was the bomb! Will be coming back. Only suggestion is I wish our server had been more on top of refills, Cajun spices can make you thirsty :)

2022-06-02Ive been twice now! Food was great both times fast service with fresh hot food. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Menu has lots to offer and I havent had any disappointment yet. From appetizers to dessert you cant go wrong at Mz. Jades! Great atmosphere and clean including the bathrooms.

2022-06-07The place was amazing! Hospitality was amazing. What ever you do make sure you get the macaroni. Don’t forget the yams. Better yet all the food is Amazing! Mz. Jade herself came out and talked to us. She’s very friendly and personable. The last thing that did it for me is this women said she pray over her food when she’s cooking it and it’s a Christian based business. You will not be disappointed. My hour drive was worth it.

2022-03-10I was very excited to try Mz Jades. We drove 40 minutes too! The atmosphere was great and everyone was so friendly. The restaurant was decorated very nice. The hush puppies were my favorite part, very good. However, my fries and chicken both tasted kind of fishy. I believe because they fry everything in the same fryer. The Mac and cheese didn’t have much flavor. My chicken sandwich had a nice crunch to it but it was very spicy and I had no idea it was supposed to be. I wanted to try the pimento cheese balls but they were out. Over all the service was good.

From the staff(very friendly,very knowledgeable of menu,and family oriented work system)to the ambience (very modern,great for family, business and leisure,the lighting and the view are amazing,not to mention the outside patio with outside seating available).Everywhere was spotless and clean... including the bathroom (GREAT JOB) TO THE FOOD...THE FOOD HERE IS AMAZING...I wont give away all the secrets lol but I will say THE FOOD WAS FRESH,HOT,HOMEMADE,SEASONED VERY WELL, AFFORDABLE AND MADE WITH REAL DOWN HOME FAMILY LOVE!!! OH and make sure u try Thier homemade sauces,I recommend the fried shrimp, wings, deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese...ONLY BECAUSE WE ORDERED ALL OF THESE AND THEY WERE ALL VERY DELICIOUS! I am so happy and grateful for the opportunity to meet the owner who btw is a beautiful soul,and I want to personally say THANK YOU! We had a great experience, although we did have to leave in a hurry...WE WILL BE BACK... MOST DEFINITELY! S/N shout out to the bartender for mixing up a great drink (much needed lolz)!

2022-04-28The worst meal of my adult life. This is not an exaggeration. The food and service were absolutely horrendous.Let’s start with the most critical component: the food.Initially, I ordered hush puppies with “soul sauce” and pulled pork. The waitress took my order. She then returned and stated, “Sorry we’re out of your order. We don’t have any of it.” I proceeded to strike out with several more menu items as the waitress went back and forth, unsure of what they had in the kitchen. Finally, I found something they had in stock: chicken wings.I’ve attached a picture to ensure you know that I am not exaggerating…The chicken was burnt and under seasoned. These wings are from Kroger, for sure. I’ve made them at home—albeit without burning them. I took two bites and couldn’t finish. They were rock hard and without any taste.My Mac and cheese was soupy and over seasoned with celery (or similar additives). The consistency was so thin and tasteless that everyone at my table who ordered Mac and cheese (all of us) couldn’t finish it. How do you mess up Mac and cheese? This was, hands down, the worst Mac and cheese I’ve ever tasted.Finally, the corn bread. This corn bread obviously came from a container at a local grocery store—likely the same Kroger from which they purchased the chicken wings. It was hard and inedible without any taste. Definitely came straight from a $1.99 tray at Kroger, Meijer, etc. If it didn’t, I’m not sure how this place has stayed in business. Again… how do you mess up corn bread?I took a couple bites of each item and was so thoroughly revolted that I didn’t even take a box home. This was the first time in my life that I’ve left food on the table without bringing it home.And don’t ask how much I paid for this inedible meal… $18 after tax! Way, way, way overpriced. This would’ve been fine for a $5 plate at a local festival or fair. At a restaurant? This is just pathetic.But at the end of the meal, I would’ve paid $18 to *not* eat this food. It was that bad.Not to mention the hairs inside our cutlery and all over our table.The service was horrendous. I felt bad for the waitress. She had no idea what they had in the kitchen. At one point, she literally said, “I don’t have any idea what they’re doing back there. They’re just winging it right now.” Not very confidence inspiring.For all those who gave this sad excuse for a restaurant five stars… Either you’ve never tasted authentic soul food, or you and I had completely different experiences.I will be sure to steer people away from this establishment. Absolutely terrible.

2021-09-18Small place with big flavor! Be patient because there are only a couple of people working in there and they are doing their best and working as fast as they can.They soul food was phenomenal! Definitely the right place to come for it. The seafood was good, but not as good as I was expecting. One of our seafood meals was supposed to be spicy but there was no spice, no kick to it whatsoever. That was a bit disappointing. But all in all everything was very good. Definitely a place worth checking out! Ill be going back.

I had the Seafood Boil, crab legs, shrimp, corn and potatoes, egg, sausage and the Most Bestest garlic butter I’ve tasted in a long long time!!! Sherri had the Love’s Seasoned Crab Legs with the potatoes and corn, and all the above…Spectacular!!! You can’t go wrong here!!!! The Fried Green Tomatoes and Home made Hush Puppies …whoa!!! I recommend…well… everything!!!Update: got home and had Strawberry/Banana Pudding!!! OMGoodness!!!! Please people, go there!!!
