It had been a long while (8+ years) since Id gone to Mr. Genes as I was eagerly awaiting my cheat day... the onion rings were as awesome as I remembered!! Honestly, the coney mett left sooooo much to be desired. The mett itself was great...but the chili 👎👎 You can NOT give a native Cincinnatian canned chili!! I asked around if it had always been like that and was told thats the way its always been...I didnt recall it being that way. I guess my palate wasnt as discerning then. The service was decent. I would return for the onion rings...a few folks in line raved about the shakes but Id never buy another coney from there.

This was my first visit to Mr genes. The staff was great as was the food. I had a cheese mett and Italian sausage with peppers. Both were absolutely delicious. Im ready to go back and try something else. Recommend giving them a try for sure.
Customer service was horrible the wait was to long. They own the car wash next door that is now closed and wouldnt refund my money as well. I guess it all about the money not serving the community to well. Shame on you.Mr jean was an honest guy.

Nice place. But its name says it all dog house. It was pretty much just hot dogs. Said they served wings but wasnt rite now so... but food was fresh and service was good

Ive never eaten here it is over priced in my opinion but my mom loves the ice cream for 2 weeks now no lid then was told a cup would be an extra 75cents that is a joke who is really in charge here that 3.50 ice cream cpuld turn into 4.25 major fail totally 😥

Best hot met coney in Cincinnati. If you have not tried the Chicago dog, you have try it. Great customer service. And the wings are great too. The last day for this year was November 1st. So you have to wait until the weather warms up next year to participate in the good food at Mr. Genes.

Used to be a good place to grab a cheese coney and shake. Have visited it lately and am disappointed. The coneys are ok and after waiting in the drive-thru for approx. 20 mins for my son to get a malt, I can honestly say that will be the last $3.50 spent here. The malt tasted like a shake and was certainly not worth the price.

First time at this place and wasnt impressed at all the chili cheese fries were not good the fries were not done and I also ordered chicken wings didnt get my BBQ sauce on them and misleading when you say chicken wings I think of whole wings these were party wings and I wouldnt pay $6 for 5 party wings.
By far the best chili sauce in Cincinatti. Love the touch of heat. Plus, unlike GS and Skyline, they serve larger dogs for same pricing. Wish they had several locations. Im ready to support this biz. Highly recommended. Worth the drive. Had the Italian Sausage today, very tasty. Food is awesome....but the attitude needs some work. I cant blast the owners for the attitude of someone who doesnt like their job or is mad at the world. A smile could go a long way.
My daughter and I were so glad we stop and had lunch at Mr. Genes Dog House. The food was excellent. Cant say enough good things about how tasty the ruben dog was along with the yummy onion rings ... my daughter had the Chicago dogs and absolutely loved them. Well definitely be back!Ps...it was amazing as we sat and ate our lunch at the picnic table, to see how many people we watch come to Mr. Genes; it just shows how delicious your food truly is.Thanks for the enjoyable afternoon.

Around for ages, if you like coneys then try their hot mett coney. While youre indulging yourself have a rasberry or nectar shake with house battered onion rings.
I love this place! The coneys are delicious and so is the ice cream. I never have bad customer service when I go and its never a super long wait (even for the wings!) There are picnic tables behind the establishment to sit and eat or a park behind it to take your family for ice cream. If going through the drive thru be careful tho, theres a parking brick curving you to the street that you cant see because your right on top of it... Running into or over it makes for a nasty bump to the tires
First time there! Very nice lady told us it had been there 50 plus years and she had been there 52 of them, that is amazing! Got her recommendation for what to try as a first visit, she told us the hot chili cheese sausage Coney with a side of onion rings,,,Wonderful!! If you pass it but never stop...do so! You will be glad you did...Bonus..very reasonably priced!
This may be the only reason I still live in the Cincinnati area. This place is a landmark. I have come here at least once a year every year of my life since I began eating solid foods. I could not possibly say enough positive things about this establishment, the best part being that it is all true. Thank you Mr. Genes.

Horrible metts the size of hot dogs and 4.25 a piece i spent 20.50 on 4 metts and a small shake and the chili was horrible i used to love this place i grewup on it they need to be shutdown now!

The onion rings are light airy and fresh tasting every time, Im not sure what oil they use but the rings never taste greasy. I have never given a review for a restaurant, but Mr. Genes deserves to be bragged about, and one other thing that impressed me was that the outside picnic tables were clean and there wasnt any trash on the ground like you tend to see at places like Rallys.
I love this place!! Delicious food!! I highly recommend the Hot Chili Cheese Mett and the Italian Sausage with peppers and onions!! While we are at it, throw in a couple Slaw Dogs!! Yall better hurry as Mr. Genes will be closing for the season, soon!
Great Food! You Must Try This Place!I am not on this side of town often, but when I am I make sure to stop by Mr Genes.The food is great and the price is even better. These are the best coneys I have ever had anywhere. They are full size, not those tiny ones from the other places.If you are in the area, be sure to stop by. They have a good size menu for those looking for something other than their great coneys.I always get two coneys and a large milk shake.Yummy!

Best Chicago Dog in Cincinnati! Only thing different from Portillos is that theres no poppyseed bun. The Italian sausage is real tasty too, definitely keeps me satisfied in between trips to Chi town.
I love this place! Hot chili cheese metts that are actually spicy! And mmmm the onion rings are the best around. And what a great staff! Theres one lady there that has worked there for decades, and she is always just the sweetest!

Local Treasure. God help us when all we have left are corporate, sterile, eateries. I got the usual Hott Mett with Chili ands Cheese, Fries and a Vanilla Shake. Served up fast, ate at the picnic tables behind the shack and mingled with the locals.
Awesome!! Went there for the 1st time last week and we all had their coneys with cheese. I have to say that the chili sauce on these hot dogs reminded me of the chili sauce that I had growing up as a boy in southeastern Ohio. This is NOT like Cincinnati coney sauce. This coney sauce is so much better. Will definitely go back again real soon and sit on the picnic benches in the back and enjoy more delicious chili dogs!!!

The shakes are amazing because they use fresh fruit every time. The Chicago dog is one of my not-so-secret indulges whenever I visit that side of town (which is not very often now since I moved clear across the city now).

I travel a lot and everywhere I go I try to find chili or Coney dogs to try.The regular and spicy Coney dogs are the best Ive had in a long time. Definitely worth coming to again.There is no indoor seating. Also, hours are seasonal.
If you havent been to Mr Genes, do yourself a favor and stop by! All of their dogs are great. My favorites are the Italian sausage, cheese coney, and they have a pretty darn good Chicago dog!

Me and my family stopped by this to get ice cream today. We couldnt find it on the menu so I ask the lady at the window did they serve ice cream here. She was all attitude yes its at the bottom of the menu. It was not there I found it on small sign on the window on the side of the store. Well me and my family left I was not spending my money here with the service we got. She was rude and disrespectful.

Went to this neighborHOOD place to get Cincinnati famous chili dogs; instead I got an incorrect order and PISS poor customer service. Steer clear of this place!! Long wait times and the staff still cant get your order right, even if you repeat it 4 TIMES!! None of my chili cheese dogs had cheese, and then the staff tried to charge me extra to correct their mistake. When I pointed out it wasnt my fault, they said well you were on your phone. When I told them I was ordering for that person and repeated the order for the cashier 4 times, they said well its only her (the cashiers) second day. They knew I was an out of town customer but still did not care to be accountable nor accommodating; even though I paid $31 dollars for 7 chili cheese dogs that had no cheese.
You know SPRING is close when the Dairy Bars reopen and Genes is one of the best in Cincinnati. Friendly staff, good food selection of hot dogs, foot longs, chicken wings, fish sandwich and some of the best Metts in town. The metts are made with a custom recipe in either mild or hot flavor.Soft serve for desert and you are ready.Picnic tables out back to meet and eat with friends.
Sometimes you dont want to eat out at a fancy place.Went for the Chicago Dog, was not disappointed. The fries hold Genes back from true greatness, however.

This hot dog stand is part of the gateway to the northwest part of town. It is an icon. Must stop even if your fighting with Trump or fighting with Obama. Please try the chill chesse fries. Stop at the car wash while Chip washes your car and smash those bad boys with a dog and a Pepsi, You will feel like America is great again.

The hot met was okay but my onion rings was re-cook but they wind up putting it back in the deep fry overcooked onion ring but still served it wasnt too happy

2022-07-02Just love Mr. Genes. I havent been there in a long time and it was nice to know it is still in the family. The food was just as good as it was when I was there years ago. I had the Chicago dog and the best fries. Friendly service. Clean as a pin and everybody with gloves on. When youre looking for fast food and you live in Northside you just have to remember Mr. Genes. I will go back soon!

2022-03-15Ordered the Chicago Style with a Large shake. Total was 9 dollars. The Dog was really really good and the shake was delicious. Only issue i have is the parking lot is kind of bumpy and location itself is in a bad area so there was some shady looking customers in and out but the staff was very friendly and the dog was worth the price. Will definitely be going back again and or making a stop there the next time im in that area. But use caution, lol, also there is some parking bumpers that u can very easily go without seeing if your not careful. But a great hot dog joint none the less.. Definitely worth a try, only reason i didnt give 5 stars is because of the location, parking lot, and shady customers soliciting around. Unfortunately though the last one is sort of out of the stores control.. So it is what it is. But I personally will be stopping back again next time in in or around Northside

2022-03-30The coneys were terrible they had a sign saying they had foot long coneys and they didnt thought I was buying a footlong but instead he said they been stop selling the footlong .There cheese coneys was 4.25 cents and they were really nasty and gross .They had the nerve to sell coneys more inexpensive then skyline .And there hotdogs taste like Jon Morrell hot dogs will never go back again gross and too expensive for there food.
