Probably my favorite place in Columbus to get cigars. The people who work there are always nice and helpful! Every stick Ive picked up has always been properly humidified and they carry cigars a lot of places dont have.
It is wonderful because this is one of the few places in the short north with its own parking lot. The employee was knowledgeable and able to help me as I know nothing of cigars and was wanting to get a nice gift for a new father. Turns out we did a great job selecting! They even had Its a boy cigars of a decent quality and a reasonable price!
A really nice chill place to just sit back and have a cigar downtown. The gentleman working and Kurt really knew his stuff and help me find some good smoke. Definitely going to come back, definitely recommend checking it out. Theres a huge selection of cigars.
Run down and dirty. Seemed to have a pretty good selection. The whole shop is humidified, but allows smoking among the cigars. Was put off by intimidating handwritten signs in the windows that look like they have been there for years. Posted $20 cutting fee for outside cigar. Almost didn’t go in. Wouldn’t have missed much if I didn’t. Didn’t stay long.
Favorite humidor in Columbus and I travel a great deal. Its BYOB now so if you travel like me you should know. Its a great benefit !!! Spend your money on what they know which is cigars. Selection is enormous and they know their stuff, you will never be disappointed. Location in short north is best location near downtown. You can always find good food and bars nearby.
The cigar selection is pretty good if you know what you are looking for. The staff attempts to be helpful but Ive only got a couple years in the cigar hobby and they seemed to know less than me. There are some good deals on the 2 for $10 rack if youre willing to take a chance.HOWEVER, this lounge is NOT for the cigar aficionado. I spent the evening here and the soft drinks and coffee are ridiculously overpriced and the place attracts more hookah smokers than cigar smokers which is a TOTALLY different crowd. The entire time i was there the music was gangster rap and rock videos. Who in the heck wants to relax and kick back with a cigar when youre listening to music where every other word is b**ch, hoe and f***k? This place is NOT for grown folks. This is for hookah smokers and kids who want to play around with cigars. As a cigar store they get a pretty good grade. As a cigar lounge its an epic fail.
Great place to hangout and smoke. Nice big and open lounge. Doesnt feel like youre sitting in a cloud of smoke. Awesome selection of cigars. They have a discount section too. Byob as well so you can enjoy a hard drink to compliment your smoke.
Had to pick up a pack of work cigars for this week. I have been craving a cigar for awhile. I didnt get my favorite (Churchills) but those are for my days of relaxing and really savoring the taste.
I travel alot for work and this is one of my cigar shops I always hit along the way. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Sean even let me stay over while I waited to have sandwich delivered because I hadnt had time to stop for dinner. Ample seating, large selection and upgraded temp and humidity control. Great Midwest shop that will continue to have my business
Large selection of premium cigars. My business travel covers a 80 mi radius from Columbus, I have yet to find a place that sells premium cigars for less. Staff is highly knowledgeable and will not stear you in the wrong direction.
Great wide selection of cigars and hookahs. The smoking area kind of reminds me of a buddys basement when we used to smoke in high school...The ventilation system is not the best for such a large open building. Staff was very nice and helpful in all aspects.
Not a smoker but every now and then the significant other and I like to engage in a good quality cigar from a place fluent in variety and flavors for the soul! We like that they dont restrict you to stay inside for entertainment although its just as inviting. Because they dont offer a patio, we mostly pull out our chairs from the back of the SUV, turn on a good playlist and spark of some good cigars while creating memories and people gazing!

Stopped here while out of town and little did the cashier know I own a cigar business. I grabbed a Charter Oak Toro which is msrp $6.20 and a fuma em corda which is $8.99 msrp. When I checked out I was charged $28!
The selection of cigars is 2nd to none. Maybe even on the east coast. The staff there are so friendly and so knowledgeable so it’s always a pleasure to stop in. They have a bargain table, 2 for $10 cigars and another smaller table 2 for $20 cigars. I don’t know how they do it. My only complaint is that the smoking lounge needs a makeover. It’s just a little outdated and run down, but certainly a comfy/homely feeling to it with plenty of tvs and leather chairs. By far a must “go to” if you are in Columbus.
I actually enjoyed this place. I bought hookah for $25 and I brought my own bottle of wine as it is BYOB. However the restroom was filthy and something tells me that if the bright lights hit, we’ll see that the entire place could use a detailed cleaning. But you know, you can have a good time. I am a stickler for cleanliness, though. Dirt messes with my high. Lol! Yikes.
Nice lounge to hangout, smoke cigar, chill and relax. But the Attendant called Dwayne, the black dude be swiping your credit card twice and the next day you see different charges on your card. Always use cash payment if u can. All other attendants cool.
Very great place Ive always had a wonderful experience the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and they have a wide variety of cigars! If you ever get a chance to stop by its a great experience and dont forget to ask for Wade he is very helpful and very friendly!
Always a decent place. Good patrons, not much parking though. I enjoy a good Maduro when I can and they have the best. Stick around for a while if you are a new customer. Enjoy the atmosphere. Mostly sports on the TVs.
I went to Montecristos with some guys after work. They have a huge selection of cigars. The guy there was knowledgeable. After we purchased our cigars, we went to the othere section of the store to smoke them. The set up is great. There are lots of places to sit and they are arranged so that it is easy to have a conversation. I would go again.
Im a cigar guy. And to be honest, the hookah crowd aint my thing. But the selection and 2 for $10 section is excellent. The lounge is desperately in need of some TLC. Take a look at La Chaveta playbook, and do the same, guys.
Absolutely loved being here. I havent visited Montecristo in a couple years but I received some of the best service for any location Ive been at. Came in with some buddies for hookah that night and after putting our order in only a few moment later we had our hookahs. Would recommend to anyone.
Living in the middle of Ohio you cant find a better place to browse and purchase Cigars. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly are all right here. (Meaning that in a Five Star way.)The Cigar Connoisseur Was Very helpful and Patient as well, answered all my questions and gave some good suggestions. ( But not in a Used Car dealer kinda way.)
Horrible trashy place. The guy is an absolute tool and acts like hes the coolest guy. I mean duh you have the biggest selection in Ohio but honestly dont rub it in my face.Huge selection of cigars, but they arent in a humidor. If its discounted and sitting in the middle of the room NOT in a humidor, Id be pretty skeptical.
If youre into moldy, dirty cigars... you found your place! IDK if its still open, but Ive never seen a humidor with so much PVC piping and clouds of mist being used to humidify cigars. I even tried to point out to an employee and he told me it was plume ... A straight lie. Complete recklessness from the owner who clearly has no idea how to run a cigar shop.For your healths sake, go elsewhere.
When I was here, I had no idea what I was looking for, but the staff was helpful and quickly helped me to select a cigar that was right for me. The lounge area feels more appropriate for hookah than cigars, but all in all it was a good experience.
I was dropping off customers for the cigar shop for a bachelor celebration, but my customers decided to get drinks first at the bar next door. As soon as my riders emptied my vehicle a guy came to my window and was trying to intimidate/harass me with who he knows (CPD, lawyers, politicians) and that he would take my plate # so I wont turn in his parking lot. Mind you, I was just dropping off potential customers for his shop and not parking.I do not have the time to argue with the foolish and told him I know people as well. He further went on to try to belittle me by saying to read his sign, its third grade skills. To his disappointment, I am a teacher and would be happy to teach him a reading and writing lesson by the looks of his replies to these reviews.I did reach out to my riders to recommend that they read all of the reviews, especially from the real cigar connoisseurs and to take their business to a more professional and respectable establishment like Governors Smoke Shop in Westerville.
The service here is fantastic. I let the staff know that I know next to nothing about cigars, and they were happy to help me out. I appreciated that they gave genuine suggestions instead of pushing me towards more expensive options.
In general, the stogies here are a couple bucks more than other retail stores, but youre paying for the ability to smoke in the lounge. Drink prices are high. Lots of hookah smokers. But you cant beat the location. Tip: dont buy from outside the sliding glass humidor. The stoags are usually dried out.
I went for a hookah and the man I assume is the manager or owner was not the most friendly. Minus that I did get a decent hookah. The man who helped me originally I believe was new and and helpful. I never see the same people working there.
Good selection, but very expensive and they smoke in the shop. The sho was so smoky my eyes were watering and my clothes smelled when I left. May places keep the smoking room separate from the shop and I think they should consider this
Went in to buy a cigar to celebrate. The one guy sitting at the counter barley said hi. I made my way back to the humidor to find it was wide open. Looking at different options, they were poorly labeled and not priced. Looked at a few that appeared to have mold growing. Decided to grab one that was pre-packaged in plastic to avoid the mold. Sat down to enjoy it and it tasted horrible... Like mold. Guess the pre-packaging didnt help. Ended up throwing it away. Wont be going back. Sad because I was looking for a cigar shop for a wedding.
Used to be my favorite cigar spot, but the exhaust system no longer works well. Last time I was there, I could barely see around the room. That wasnt the case previously, and its not the case when I visit other cigar lounges.
I dont smoke I went to this place with a friend. It is exactly what you expected to be lots of smoke either from hookahs or from cigars I left there with my eyes burning and my hair smelling like smoke while I go back there again no but if you enjoy that type of environment definitely go.
Always hard to find a comfier place to enjoy a fine cigar when traveling that is not so touristy. MHC was just like home... very comfier pleasant place to pull out the laptop and get some work done.

Wide selection of cigars and hookah. Buy to take with you or head over to the adjacent lounge and enjoy your smoke with a drink. The lounge is poorly ventilated though and it can be quite smokey.
They have cloves which u cant get anywhere, and the nice man working let me take some cute wooden cigar boxes home! Shop local!!
Did not seem to be a welcoming place. Cigars have mold on them. I was watching a TV and the employee walked over and changed it to what he and his buddies wanted to watch. Their were a few tvs so he did not have to turn them all. Wont get my money again.
Good cigar selection, lounge is large but dirty. Wish they would invest some money and really make this a classy place for where it is located.
Supposedly they open at 10am. Its now 10:30 on monday and the doors are still locked. Im only in town for a couple days so hopefully I can find a different lounge thats relaxed but not so lax.
This place is terrible ... we parked here because we were going to go in after my friend went to get her credit card she left next door ... someone working came out and started taking pictures of the license plate and saying he was going to send them to the police ... my friend came back 30 seconds later and we decided we didnt want to go into this place with a guy threatening us over one parking spot when the whole rest of the lot was full... get over yourself.
Tried to go in to buy a few cigars but because I have an Uber sticker on my car I was harassed before I could even get out of my car. If I’m alone in my car trying to park and get out I’m not working and this should be common sense. I’m not getting out of my car to go get riders. Needless to say I didn’t buy any cigars and instead went up to Govenors in Westerville. I’ll never try again to go here, and I want to thank Govenors for not chasing me off.
Large lounge ...hookah if ur into that ...lots of seating..large humidor and selection...good prices...open till midnight weeknights 2am Fri Sat ?Would recommend as other lounges look like they close 8pm or earlier which is dissapointing....

Same thing happened to me I got harassed for dropping customers off in this guys parking lot he approached my car before he even knew where I was going or what I was doing and said this isnt the bar cant park here and proceeded to scream in my window. Pile them high and sell them cheap. Masses of cigars that dont look particularly well looked after. You could find yourself smoking something OK or something thats a year old and dry as bone.

2022-04-05This place moved down the road and you can’t smoke in the cigar shoppe at it’s new location. Drove from Pittsburgh and purposely stayed a few blocks away because the pictures of the lounge looked awesome. The pictures were from the old place. Hugely disappointed and the guy behind the counter has the personality of a stump. He was more interested in watching whatever ‘B’ movie was on then help us find somewhere to smoke the $100 worth of cigars we just purchased and couldn’t smoke there.

2022-07-24Nothing like the pictures on Google. Its a hole in the wall shop thats poorly organized. Brands are all over the place, not an actual lounge at all. The only dude in the shop was too busy talking to his babysitter about chicken nuggets and mac and cheese to give me the time of day.

I have visited several lounge here in the city but there is none that has the variety in size, taste, and might add potency that exist at Montecristo House of Cigar.I strongly recommend any cigar connoisseur (Churchill reincarnation) to check it out. You will be delighted.

2021-08-27Meh... (Sigh) dude who helped me was in pjs n looked like he just rolled out of bed. Good thing I knew what I was looking for seeing as how my only 2 questions seemed to have inconvenienced him. Not to mention, who wants to buy cigars out of cigar boxes that are directly on the floor? But hey, nothing screams premium louder than buying a cigar directly off of a tiled floor! Not impressed...

2021-08-02Knowledgable staff and great selection. Liked the old location a lot more but the new location is way nicer walking in. Not allowed to smoke inside at the new location but will still be stopping in for my cigars either way!

2020-02-29Large open space, by far the largest place to puff, the set up is great. Great selection, tons of decently cheap cigars. Not a big fan of there gift card policy. My wife bought me a $25 one for my birthday and I was told that if I didnt use it all at once, I would lose the remainder of my balance. I was hoping to be able to come back several different times to smoke since I dont have a humidor or an indoor facility to smoke in at home.For some reason, a few of the guys working there have a need to act macho, not sure why. I get man humor, coarse jesting and so on, doesnt seem wise with someone you dont know. Seems best to begin professionally, and as the friendship builds, you let your hair down. Wasnt a big enough problem to keep me away but enough that I dont go out of my way to go here.

2019-12-27The evening staff are quite friendly and personable. Atmosphere is decent. Well designed lounge with a nostalgic aesthetic, they also have a wide selection of foreign imports and some domestics, ranging widely in shape, wrap style, and taste. They even have a great selection of loose tobacco for pipes, which they also sell a nice selection of. Definitely worth a visit.

2019-05-18It had been a while since I was last here, so there had been some significant changes. The selection was as fantastic as its always been. Instead of walk in humidors, theyve switched to air barrier humidity control (think about the open air coolers in grocery stores). Staff was fantastic as always, and were in a lively debate as to what beers go with what cigars, when I was there.
