We celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner at Mitchells and had a great meal! When I booked on open table I mentioned it was our anniversary. When we got there we had a table set aside and decorated with some happy anniversary confetti. The menus even had a Happy anniversary message on the top of them! My regulars only cocktail was wonderful. I had the filet duet and it was cooked perfectly to specification. The sides of broccoli & asparagus were huge and very fresh. We had a great evening and would definitely be back!
They told us they were out of blanco tequila, and then basic beers. Told us they are hard to get these days. This is the steak ordered medium rare. This is a higher end Applebee’s. Which is still a diss to Applebee’s. Could not eat steak without steak sauce. Waitress and staffed seemed inconvenienced to serve a 10 person table. They must be sooooooooo Busy (hint: they weren’t)
We were a party of 5 and we had very good service from drinks, appetizers, main course and dessert. The food was fabulous! My husband is still talking about the jalapeno scalloped potatoes! The steaks were great and the sea bass and salmon were fantastic!A wonderful experience!
Abismal! Service was terrible, didnt even ask if want to check our jackets. For what its worth, we did however get seated on time. Server had no idea if the bottle of Champaign listed on the wine list was actually in stock -- had to ask the manager. Server said that oysters were from Chesapeake Bay but that was clearly rubbish because Ive actually lived on the Eastern Shore and these oysters were absolutely tasteless and grown in a fish tank! Maybe the fish tank was located on the Chesapeak but thats probably generous. Our salad plates sat on the table for more than 35 mins after finishing them. One of two of our bone-in filet was cooked great but the other was very much over cooked approaching well-done. Server brought out after dinner menus but then completely disappeared. Waited around for what seemed like forever and then just got up from our table and hailed the bar tender from the hostess stand to cash out. Used the restroom and it was complete mess. Just a complete mess! Recently dined at Hyde Park in Short North and that was excellent. If youre in a pinch, fine, eat here. However, youre much better off at alternative restaurant. I wont be returning here anytime soon!
My experience tonight was awful. Bad quality steaks. When sent back second steak was not any better. One of us had 3 bytes and left the rest of a NY STRIP on the plate. When asked if we wanted a take home package we said and no one wondered why we left most of the food on the plate. We ordered asparagus, it came cold and was very salty. The sauce for the asparagus was disgusting. 2 appetizers, two steaks, 2 sides, 1 glass of cheap undrinkable wine 231$. We expressed our dissatisfaction and no one cared. Overall not better than Applebees except lower quality but 4x expensive. I feel that we were rubbed from 231 dollars. Bad night.
Had a great experience, and the food was perfect. Steaks were properly cooked and delicious. The calamari appetizer was the best Ive ever had. Our waiter was new to the restaurant as of this week. Very attentive and accommodating. The manager also stopped at each table in the room throughout the night to confirm a satisfactory experience.
We were out celebrating our anniversary tonight for dinner. For starters, our waitress was brand new to the floor. She made a couple of minor errors, but we were very polite and gave her the benefit of the doubt. When the bill was brought to the table, I noticed a QR code to pay the bill electronically, I informed the waitress that I was in the process of doing that, (Maybe she didn’t hear me). I completed paying the bill with the tip and the receipt was sent to my email address. We got up and walked out of the restaurant. While we were waiting for our rental car, a security guard came out and said we walked out without paying. The waitress came outside and I showed them both the receipt that was just emailed to me that showed it had been paid. She said she had to go check with her manager. This process took a few minutes, and eventually they said we were good. I have dined in many places and I have never been accused of not paying my bill. This was for my anniversary and I am extremely disappointed with how the waitress and the manager handled the situation. The manager never even came out to apologize for the misunderstanding! I have never been so offended in my entire life.
Brought family in From Seattle,Wa they wanted a good steakhouse so came too downtown. Service was slow food 🥘 came out late like they where disoriented. The steak 🥩 was bloody and not well done. And the only thing they wanted too do was com us for a Desert they came all way from Seattle Washington not get a dessert but a good steak 🥩.I’ll will think 🤔 again before I bring people here again. To this location from past deals they one up in Polaris was a whole lot better better experience better vibe.
Will never in life eat at this restaurant again. Manager Andy and receptionist(don’t have name),were racist and refused to give me a number for corporate. Refused to show me a policy that said you can’t smoke outside and come in the restaurant. Still waiting on a response on their social media account on how to speak with someone. Been to Mitchell’s numerous of times and never experienced anything like it. Went down the street and Ruth Chris was happy to have us.
Here from out-of-state and searching for a wonderful steak. We researched and browsed many restaurants and decided to try this one. The service was incredible, the food was phenomenal. My bone-in filet was perfectly cooked, and our dessert was delicious.. wonderful experience and service.
I was part of a party of 8 last night at the downtown location. We are longtime friends who have not been able to gather due to distance complicated by the pandemic. We had a lot of catching up to do and lost track if time. By the time we left the restaurant had been closed for an hour. Not once did it seem like anyone was trying to get us to leave. Our waitress was wonderul and as always the food was amazing. Thank you Mitchells for a wonderful evening.
Be careful with this place. We ordered a dinner via delivery for our 49th wedding anniversary. Both steaks were gristled throughout. Cutting them took Olympian strength. We wanted restaurant quality beef but this was tragic. We have had much better beef that we purchased at the local store. The meat at places like Texas Roadhouse is superior. For the price we paid, the quality of the meal was shocking. One more push towards going meat-free. Mitchells should be ashamed of its bait and switch techniques. They send the inedible meat out the door with delivery services so that the customer cannot return or reject it. The owner sent me to a web site to complain and they never responded (its an outfit called Landry in Texas).
I came here on a first date and boy was it niceeeee! Very fancy place but not so much so that I felt uncomfortable. Our waitress was so sweet and patiently explained the cuts of steak because your girl doesn’t typically do fine dining (lol). We got the spicy lobster starter and it was so good. Also got a Caesar salad and lemme just tell you it was perfect. I then got the prime ribeye steak & baked potato for the main course. The steak came out cooked perfectly and was complimented by the buttery potato. Definitely one of the nicest restaurants I’ve ever been to. I can see myself coming back in the future for a birthday or celebration.
Amazing prompt service. GREAT FOOD and Drinks. I had a Caramel Apple Mule 😋😋😋😋For food, I selected the 3 course meal with a wedge salad to start. I loved the Gouda Stuffed Chicken and the Creme Brulee was delicious 😋. My husband got the Cowboy Ribeye and he loved it, the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. It was a good experience that I wouldnt mind repeating again.
We staying across the street. UFC event, came with a team , 7 people . Steaks weren’t too bad, but a little over cooked ! We ordered oysters as appetizers! They tested okay. When we got steaks the empty oyster plate with shells were on the table! My friend notice that there was a WORM moving on the plate!!! Freaking worm! One of people who were with us , called a manager and showed him the live worm, that was moving around! Girl Who was with us were crying ! Since it was disgusting ! Manager said he will take care of it. After few they brought the bill with this oysters on it! Any place that respect itself would cut the freaking bill down!!! Not just not charge for oysters !!! Place is a mess! Be careful!
Really disappointing dinner with rude staff from the moment we walked in. My 7oz filet mignon was so tough I couldnt even eat it. A member of our party also got food poisoning from his meal. If youre looking for a fine dining steakhouse in Columbus, I would definitely avoid this place.
Normally this a go to for us, but our last experience was subpar. We thought several times our server forgot us. Never have I had to ask for my glass to be refilled, but this time we had to ask several times for more water. We would have ordered more drinks, but were never asked. The food was all FABULOUS, the service was not.
They were very unprofessional. Verbally attacked for checking order. The manager is lazy and rude. Havent been to this location in 15 years now I remember why.. Baldwin location operates alot better.. anyone who says its good speedy service is lying and need to travel more
Made reservations for our anniversary and were delighted with the special service we received. The table was decorated with anniversary confetti and special menus were printed. Our server was very friendly and attentive. All in all, the accommodations were perfect and only topped by the food. The cocktails were delicious and the steak was melt in your mouth tender. I would not hesitate to return for other special occasions. (I only hesitate to return for non-special occasions because I cant afford it.)
My husband and I went to celebrate his 50th birthday. We sat at the bar, received great service and conversation and there was plenty of room to social distance. Food and drinks were great as usual! The Covid19 guidelines they had in place were being followed and it was an enjoyable evening.
We dined here this past weekend and it was excellent from start to finish. The hostess was very friendly. Nicole was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. She gave us great food recommendations. Nicole also did not rush us so we could really enjoy our first night in months. I highly recommend this place. Great food and service. You know its a great place to have a server there for 20 years.
I would give them a zero but that’s not possible. My server was named Jackie and she was terrible. No customer service at all. I ordered the filet mignon and the outside was charred to the point were it made a clinking sound on the plate. I sent the filet back and they had an attitude about it even though they saw how black the filet was. I had ordered two other meals to go but they didn’t put that order in until i was done eating and ready to go. very bad experience to the point where i am writing this review while i am waiting on my two other meals.
Only getting a one star for the service provided by the staff, very nice and friendly but when money is being spent on the food, I was not impressed. 10 oz filet cost $60 (no sides, no sauces all extra, might as well have to pay for butter on top). For 60 dollar filet alone, you’d expect the best, came out looking like a meatball, not seared at all, cooked medium, outside dry, then completely rare inside with white fat still uncooked…. Not impressed, completely unacceptable or the money spent, shouldn’t even be called a steakhouse anymore. Jalapeño potatoes taste like nothing but jalapeño and unseasoned potato… Cameron Mitchell might need to revisit some of his restaurants… I will be cooking my steaks at home now.
I normally dont write reviews unless my experience was awful or wonderful. My fiancée and I both work very long hours and with covid (like most people) we havent had many opportunities to go out and have a nice night. This was an important evening for us and it started at Mitchells. Walking in the door, the hostess Iris was amazing and set the tone for the rest of our time there. She was friendly, attentive, and as a representative of the restaurant and the Cameron Mitchell brand she made one hell of a first impression. This was followed by great cocktails at the bar (I unfortunately did not get the bartenders name) and then dinner. Our server Ryan was exactly what one hopes for in a server, he was pleasant and had great recommendations, he went above and beyond to accommodate my special request for our meal, and made the difference between a good experience and a great one. Kudos to Mitchells for hiring employees like this. As for the food, impressive from start to finish, we left satisfied and happier for having gone there. We will definitely be back.
Came back to the Mitchell’s Steakhouse after all the craziness of the past year and things were fantastic as we left them.We really enjoy the look of the restaurant with the high ceilings and the nice music they play. Kelsey was our server for the evening and she provided great service, everything specific we requested, she accommodated which we truly appreciate.Of course the food was what we expected and was great. I always get the biggest and best steak and was not disappointed- A-1
Ordered food to be delivered, a med rare rib eye, a burger. a French dip , lobster bites , side of corn and a side of mac and cheese. Rib eye had part of the cap missing... my fav part. burger was good, French dip was too grisly, still sitting in my fridge..inedible, the side of corn for $13 was so small it couldnt be shared. mac and cheese was just ok...lob bites were very good.all for $147..never again
Went here for a birthday dinner. Made the reservation and put birthday as the occasion but they dont actually look or care about that I guess. We came during happy hour but was seated in a section that didnt allow happy hour prices? So we had to move everything to a different section which was kind of dumb.As for the actual food you should listen to the reviewers saying that the food is bland because it was all bland. We tried the Oscar filet and steak Diane - They each had a good crust but the actual steak quality seemed like something from Texas roadhouse. We also got the jalapeno scalloped potatoes to share and it had no salt in it at all. The truffle fries were boring and the lobster bites were okay but chewy.
Steak was good second time sent out. Completely torched the first time (NOT even close to medium). Only one server, not her fault, but extremely slow service. Manager was a mess and looked completely unkempt and out of his element. Not what one would expect for the price and reputation.
Our favorite date-night place in Columbus! Eric (bartender) and Nikki (server) have incredible service- they make dining out an experience! They always remember what we like to eat and drink, they ask about details from stories we told them the last visit, and they go out of their way to make each visit special (the little details that turn into the big details). We prefer sitting at the bar for dinner, but the entire restaurant is gorgeous.
Got reservations at the last moment for Valentines. However, we were delegated to the back room which, though not bad by any means, isnt the same luxury of the front rooms. The service, while good by any standard, was hampered by us being in the back room. The food was good, better than good. The meats were prepared to the perfect temperature. The fries were crispy. The creamed spinach was tasty though a little long in the tooth, having been prepared hours before. My asparagus with my steak was missing, a fact I should have pointed out to my server. I really liked that I could order a special glass of wine - Silver Oak cab save -without buying a whole $200 bottle. While the wine was well persevered in their proprietary preservation system, it was just off from being the perfect glad I hoped for. All in all a fine dinner, but short of perfect.
Sorry but our entire party wasnt pleased. For the price I expect similar quality and service as other similarly priced steakhouses in and around central Ohio. They were not busy, so the slow service was likely due to low staff. But, you are Mitchells steakhouse in Downtown Columbus. Drinks were ok, meals were just okay. My wifes steak came out looking gray and had no flavor. She asked for a new one and it came out looking much butter on the outside but was severely undercooked. I would be willing to try again but it would take an excellent all around service and meal to keep me coming back.
Great place to visit while you are in downtown Columbus. Food is delicious. Staff is very pleasant and gives you a great experience. I had a Filet, it melted in my mouth. Everyone had steaks that were great. I ordered scalloped potatoes. They had creamy sauce, cheese, and jalapeños. These were amazing!!We also had great mixed drinks, but the restaurant has many different drinks and wines.I hope to stop here again!
Disappointing experience. When visiting Mitchells I always expect top/high food quality and top service. Last nights dinner was disappointing. The BREAD was EXTREMELY HARD, to the point that we decided not to eat it and the BUTTERED BROCCOLI was HARD and RUBBERY. The only positive part was the Steak we ordered, was great.
I NEVER comment on bada experiences, but this was so bad I had to leave a review. This was absolutely the WORST steakhouse experience I have ever had. I ordered a 60$ Dollar trio medallion meal through UberEats, only to get the complete wrong accompanying sides (supposed to have wild mushroom, did not get this) and zero steak in the box! I also ordered the jalapeno au gratin potatoes. It literally had ZERO flavor. Zero salt. Zero jalapenos. Zero cheese. It was literally barely cooked potatoes and a boat load of butter/cream. I spent 80$ for the worst steakhouse meal I have EVER had, and I have had many. I highly suggest you head to the ABUNDANCE of other amazing steakhouses out there around Columbus this place is NOT IT NOR worth the money. RUN dont walk away.
Very disappointed at our experience at Mitchells this last weekend. Initially, after our water was brought to the table, we had no wait staff for probably 10 minutes at least. When the wait staff did come, they apologized that they didnt notice that we arrived. A table next to ours, that came after us, had drinks and bread before us. Then, the drink that I wanted to order (sangria) they said they were out of on that night. Appetizers were brought in a relatively timely fashion and were good (salads, lobster bisque). Most of us ordered steak, and for a steakhouse, this was a HUGE disappointment. One of the members of our party ordered the 7 oz. filet medium rare. Once the steak was brought out, the steak was clearly medium well and quite tough. We hardly EVER, if EVER, send back food - but this was unacceptable for a $55 steak. The waitress did apologize and took the steak away for a new steak to be made. The new steak brought out was seared to the extreme on the outside, and RAW in the middle. We showed the waitress and she was appalled and agreed this was not cooked properly, and again took the steak back. When the steak was brought back, the executive chef, Nathan Street, brought it out. But instead of apologizing, and wanting to ensure that the steak was prepared to the standard it should be, he plopped the plate down on the table and said hows that. No introduction, no dialogue, no nothing. The steak was now dry, charbroiled and still raw in the middle. THE SAME STEAK. We could tell that they had just speed cooked it and smashed it once it was taken back. We just accepted at this point that we wouldnt be getting a quality steak and this member of our party, who was out for his birthday dinner, didnt even eat the steak. At the end of the meal, the waitress brought out a free slice of cheesecake - that we didnt request and didnt want. NO ATTEMPT was made to offer to speak to a manager or to give a discount on our bill for the steak that was not prepared properly and was not eaten. We have eaten at a lot of restaurants and this experience was one of the worst for a long time. No apologies were made when the bill came out or anything. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and building, but we will not be coming back.
Mitchell is kind of a hidden gem in downtown Columbus. Accessible prices provide a first rate steak experience in both food quality and nice ambiance. Personnel is experienced, knowledgeable and helpful, you can really trust them in helping you make the best choice for food and pairing drink.
I was a little surprised. I had high expectations and, for the cost and what the experience should be, I was disappointed. We went during lunch on a Tuesday and there were 6 of us.The service:The wait staff seemed attentive: drinks were refilled, questions answered, orders taken and food arrived, all of which happened timely. However, two people had the wrong side dishes and their steaks were pretty undercooked; both had ordered medium and while the edges around the steak were cooked pretty close, the center of the meat was basically rare. They staff tried to fix it but by the time they got back, the rest of us had finished and even then their steaks werent cooked enough. The food: the food was delicious, all of it. However, my only real gripe was how much gristle was inside the steak. My very first bite tasted amazing, but then I sat there and chewed and chewed and realized Id have to spit out my first bite of a $48 New York Strip Steak. I then had to cut into my steak and find the rest of the gristle to cut it out so I could eat without worry of spitting more food out. That was a $20 meal at absolute best. I have no intention of returning to this restaurant.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I usually do not post reviews on companies even if the service was bad but the service I received last night 1/28/21 was absolutely terrible. It was date night I decided to participate in restaurant week which weve never done before. We also never been to Mitchells so we decided to give it a try. The inside is very nice I will say that but it went downhill when we had a server who constantly sniffled literally every two seconds while she talked and she barely had her mask up with covid waitresses should really wear medical mask but whatever. I explained to the waiter it was our first time dining there and doing restaurant week and asked if she could explain a few things on the menu which she did. The problem was her attitude was TERRIBLE it was like she had an attitude the moment she stepped to our table. We ordered our food when a different waitress brought my food she set it down so quick and walked away so fast before the plate completely hit the table. My portion of food was so small that it shouldve been on the kids menu although my 4 year old wouldnt even have gotten full off of it. Finally when our waitress came back (btw she barely came over to check on us) I started off by saying I hate to be that type of person but I was not expecting my meal to be this small especially for the price were paying can I please get something else from there she got so mad that with every word she spoke she shrugged her shoulders everytime in an oh well manner then told me my meal was a hell of a deal and thats they cant do nothing about it. I said well I dont want this plate and Id like to get the pasta instead she snatched the plate then walked away. While shes talking she had the nerve to pull her mask down as if she wasnt already sick and sniffling but then her nose was red on top of that. My boyfriend asked her to pull her mask back up due to her sniffles and she got so upset and rolled her neck. Before she got away my boyfriend asked for her manager and she laughed so loud and said Yup you sure can talk to her her now the manager came and was extremely nice and finished off our table but for the disrespect, niceness was nearly not enough especially for a bill well over $100
The food was good, however we felt for the price the establishment could have been more elegant. There were gnats flying around and the bread was hard. Sean was great, very attentive. Our only caviets with him was: 1) He placed the drinking straws in the glasses. With all thats going on, and even generally, that is a serving 101 dont. They were brought to the table that way. We then asked for drinks with wrapped straws, which we should not of had to. 2) There were children present and we had to ask for a childrens menu, which only one was brought for two children to share.
This was the worst meal I have had in a long time. The service was completely incompetent. The slimy salad came out 70 minutes into this nightmare of a meal and preceded the appetizer that could have been served at the local hospital. The only saving grace was the bottle of wine we ordered. I spent the rest of the night at home in the bathroom. This is, sadly to say as it used to be one of my favorites, a never again restaurant.
We went to Mitchells last night and dinner was wonderful. Steaks were cooked perfect his was medium rare and mine well done. Nicole was an excellent waitress knowledgeable, professional and great communication. We usually go to Hyde Park but we will come back to see her and enjoy wonderful food!
This restaurant was definitely better when it was owned by Cameron Mitchell. The decor is outdated and could use freshening. The steaks were good but everything else just mediocre. Chocolate cake wasn’t worth the second bite and creme brûlée was disappointing as well. Next time we will be doing Jeff Ruby or Hyde Park when wanting a steakhouse. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing visit.
We dined in for a my best friends birthday. It was a reservation for 12 but thank goodness only 10 showed because the table was so tightly packed in. My husband ordered shrimp scampi and I ordered the shrimp/lobster carbonara the shrimp in both dishes was overcooked very dry and chewy. The birthday girl salmon dish had a hair in it and the scalloped potato were underdone. The service was well but over all it was very average
Ate here twice during our 3 day stay and definitely earns 5 star for both dining experiences. Amazing filet steaks cooked to perfection... I have no pictures to share because the food didnt last long enough for a photo opportunity. Mini cheesecake dessert was good enough we got one to go. Tried appetizers salads and all was excellent
Still one of my favorite steakhouses in the country. Expert service and ambiance you expect from a top steakhouse. Most importantly, good, prime steaks, plus dry aged options, seasoned well and finished with butter to bring out the best flavor of the beef without over powering. Not over broiled. Cooked and seasoned just right. Sides and appetizers are also excellent. I had the mushroom flat bread and loaded hash browns. Both were phenomenal.
As others have said, the steaks are perfectly executed. Many of the sides are considered a portion thats suitable for sharing, but that was not our experience. We were promptly seated and the waitress was attentive, even for a busy Saturday evening. The wait for the meal was longer than expected, but well worth the wait.
I give it two stars and heres why. I must say the appearance and setting is beautiful, very pretty building in the interior, with lovely old fashioned details. However the food was only about average. Personally I can make a finer tasting meal at home for 1/10th of the price, and the waitress was very rude when I asked her about sampling some wines. Probably wont eat here again, especially with just how unfriendly the staff is, and for the price the food could be a bit better.
The food was incredible. The wagyu New York strip was the best steak I have ever had. The customer service was unbelievable. Both the hostess and our waiter took in to account the fact that we were going to a show afterwards, and did everything they could to ensure we were finished in time to make it to said show. Prices are a little high, but as they say, you get what you pay for. Well worth every dollar spent.
I was not sure to go here since the reviews were mixed, but the weather was bad and the hotel I was staying was across the street so went. I would give the steak a no stars , but cannot do that to any business. The prime rib I received was not good at all. Not even close to being tender. Just not good. I was at a business meeting so I noticed that the other person in my party also left his steak over. The creamed spinach was not good either. I did not want to say anything since in an awkward position at the time.
Left me wondering why they have such a high rating. Everything I ordered was satisfactory but not spectacular by no means. There are at least 6 restaurants in Columbus Ive been to that have better tasting steaks and drinks for less than half the price and great ambiance to boot. With that being said, its still good to be able to tell people Ive been there, but would never go again unless someone else is picking up the tab.
Always a good experience for me. This restaurant has great ambience - and soaring artistic ceilings. Used to be a bank - so has a huge vault in the back. Service was good, but the folks behind the bar weren’t very welcoming, and were slow to serve, even though the bar nor restaurant were busy. If this had been my first visit, I would be ranking between 2-3 stars, but I KNOW they normally do better.
Granted I ordered via postmates although I dont believe that should be a factor. As a fine dining restaurant it should always be top quality. I ordered a burger medium temperature that was supposed to have smoked gouda and short rib. I received a very basic over cooked burger. Lettuce, pickle and American cheese. The burger and the fries were both very salty I couldnt finish my food. I have also dined in at Mitchells Steakhouse and wasnt impressed then.
We were seated behind the kitchen line, which is also next to the restrooms. You can imagine how distracting that can be, having a consistent flow of people on one side and the line noise on the other (plates clashing and employees talking like they’re not around guests). The food was good, but comparison to other steakhouses it was a bit average. The cocktails were delicious. The service was great.
I was so disappointed, This was the worst $400 Ive ever spent!! This was a special occasion it was my wifes birthday and it was ruined. And everything I requested outside of the rose pedals was not honored! No candles on table and the food was horrible I feel like everything was rushed and nothing was cooked long enough. I dont know if this is because we are a lesbian couple or what, not only that our waiter had no personality what so ever! Was just expecting a better experience for SPENDING $400 ON DINNER!
My wife and I went this past Wednesday 5/16/18 celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary. When I called made reservations few days before I told them we were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary anyways come Wednesday night we walked in and the hostess was really nice and pleasant and our table was decorated very nicely and without me asking them to do that, I was amazed. Our waiter Rodney was amazing, The food was excellent. We will be coming back! Thanks
Our waitress was horrible, she would disappear 20 minutes at a time! My king crab was cold and dry, my cauliflower souffle was bland and mushy! When we ordered cheesecake the raspberries had mold on them!! Terrible food and service for $250!! Will never return!! Cameron Mitchell restaurants are known for quality food and service, they really missed the mark bad on this one! There were 6 of us in the party and everyone was disappointed and dissatisfied!!
In my opinion this place is better than Hyde Park or any other high end restaurant in the city. The chefs know how to make their steak EXACTLY the way you like it. The wait staff is unobtrusive, but available. The wine selection is great, but not as diverse as the Refectory. I would recommend here to anyone looking for a romantic night out.
Lovey dinner. We had an issue with one of our meals and this place fixed it with great customer service. I was very impressed with how they handled this situation. Not only did they change out the item, but brought fresh sides as well. Service was great and food tasty!!
I probably should put 2 stars since its Mitchells and I expect exceptional. First time there. Ambiance nice. Lobster bisque good, steak good, baked potato and broccoli sent back to heat up. Bottom line, it was good but I can get good for much less than the 200$ I spent (tip included).
I havent eaten here in years so I was glad to be back. This restaurant has a nice quiet atmosphere. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Service is first class. The food is excellent. It is a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend it.
This place has great selection of food and drinks. When I first went here for dinner, I got a 3 course meal with salad, a ribeye steak (with mashed potatoes, gravy and greens on the side), and a creme brulee to top it off. Since then, that meal has consistently stayed on my top 3 steak meals compared to a handful of similarly ranked places I have been to.
I was in town for a work project and went to mitchels with my coworkers. as a vegetarian who is definitely strange to be in the steakhouse when I asked for recommendations of vegetarian dish. instead of the bartender looking at me with a strange look he asked me what I would like so that he can ask the chef to make it. I told him what I would like and then Chef Peter came out to greet me in to let me know he unfortunately didnt have the ingredients I was asking for. One of the ingredients was pesto. Chef told me that he could make it for me but it take a little longer. I asked him to go ahead and make whatever he thinks would be delicious and vegetarian and I trust his palette. its a good thing I did because I was absolutely brought to emotional state when I took my first. This is not just a steakhouse, but a place to discover culinary works of art.
It might have been one of the most tender and favorable steaks (filet) that I have ever had. The service however, did not equate to the price that was paid. No one in my party of eight were even offered a second round of drinks (liquor) during the course of a two hour meal. The setting is outstanding and the acoustics made the conversation around a long table possible and enjoyable. We all enjoyed the overall experience but I suggest you block out a large volume if time to get through it. And this is coming from someone who strongly believes that dining out is not a meal, its an experience. The last of attentiveness and the placing of meal courses in front of the wrong people just detracted from what could have otherwise been a great experience.
The only saving grace is the two and half hour nightmare is over. Stranded at your table in forty five minute increments. Incompetent and unapologetic waitstaff/management. Slimy salads that must have been sitting out for over an hour and appetizers that wouldnt stack up against cafeteria food. Only to walk away $300 lighter. Never again.
Second time here. I was disappointed...It took almost an hour to get our dinner after ordering. The lobster bisque was cold. Our server disappeared after taking our order, didnt refill drinks or ask about how it was etc. She didnt seem to like that we are a female couple. She was pretty short with us and giving weird looks when we actually did see her. While paying for $50 steaks, how about hiding your disdain for my lifestyle so I can enjoy it? I wont be back.
We went in for an appetizer and cocktail after the ballet. It was 9:50 PM. The ladies room had no toilet paper in either stall. I shared this information with one of the host staff. Her reply was just : OK. That is what she said to me! No apology... just OK!I ordered the lobster bisque. Mistake! If you only have one ladle left ... don’t serve it!Such a disappointment!!
Th food was great, service great, but one of the large reliefs on the (ceiling) fell onto a metal roof 15 feet from us. We had nearly finished our meal paid and left - $200 dinner ruined on our anniversary - I’m calling the City if one of those landed on a person it would be serious.
The best steak and lobster bisque Ive ever had. The Wagyu NY strip, cut like butter, and the marbling melt in your mouth, the sear and seasoning were perfection. Med rare was exactly what I asked for. The lobster bisque was heavenly. I had Ihad to hold myself back from licking the bowl. Kristian our server was very attentive, friendly and personable.
My wife and I celebrated our 39th anniversary last night at Mitchells Steakhouse Polaris. The valet young man was polite and personable. Vittorio runs a great restaurant as we had met him a few times at other restaurants he had managed. NOW, Stephanie our server ( waitress) made our special dinner that much better! She was really a pleasure to meet and she has the special personality for working with the public. Food, Steaks/ Lobster Tail and the Brussel Sprouts were excellent and prepared how we had asked. Exceptional service for a special evenings. Thank you, Patty and Mickey
Food took 2hrs to come out and then it was ice cold like it was in the freezer. I ask to speak to a manager and he was rude and disrespectful. The service was horrible I will never go there again. I spent $308 and was so disappointed. My whole party of 9 was disappointed and food was cold.
Christmas lunch...Food was undercooked, steak and lobster had to be sent back. Service was ok. Until we sent our food back then the waitress did not come back to refill drinks. We did not see her for over 25 min and had to ask another waiter to get our waitress for the check. First time, last time
I was surprised and disappointed in this night. Brand new waitress. She made more than one mistake on the orders, and it was painful to watch her spend 5 minutes trying to open the wine. For these prices and reputation Mitchells should never have a rookie without a veteran. Food was off as well. Have eaten at Mitchells often but nothing was exceptional this night.
Really wasnt to impressed. Server didnt seem that knowledgable about the menu. Ceasar salad was ok. Apps were good but tiny. Raw wagyu (think prosciutto) was amazing. Wagyu steak was a huge let down, not as tender as I thought it would be. Sides werent bad, nothing special. Dessert was good. There are other steakhouses and Id try something different next time.
If you have ever eaten at a Ruths Chris or another fine steakhouse you wont be disappointed. They dont have TBone or Porterhouse, but they have a 22oz cowboy ribeye that has a ton of flavor. If you like it medium or sometimes medium rare, try the medium rare push. Its perfect, charred a bit lots of juices but no blood. Service was swift and they had a huge assortment of wines to pick from. By the way, my wife said the lobster bisque was the best she has had.
Had reservations at 5:00 before going to a concert. It was close to the hotel which is why we tried it. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Yet, the food took a long time & it was lukewarm. The steak was good, but more like something you get from Outback. The server was a bit condescending. I expected more. Will definitely try one of the other steakhouses next time like Jeff Ruby’s or Hyde Park.
Maybe in 2010 it was OK. Now it is way over-priced. I can get 3 comparable meals for that price. Also, the staff hovered over our table, taking every plate and glass as soon as we put it down. please GO AWAY! I will never eat there again. The food was cold or under cooked. NOT worth the at least over $100 you will pay for two people to eat there. No one was there either... I wonder why.
This evening my boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday at Mitchells. The food was amazing and our server, Jamie, was fantastic!!!! She treated us like we were her only table in the restaurant. She definitely earned her $103 tip. When we go back, we will be requesting her!!!!
Really had not been here in years so thought Id hop by for a quick bite to eat before my show. Waited at the bar for five minutes before I ended up having to ask the bartender for a drink. And both bartenders passed me twice without so much as a word. Strike one. Next, ordered the lobster bisque and had to ask the waiter for a spoon. Strike two. Finished dinner without incident (scallops over a watery succotash; scallops:devine, water succotash: try again). No strike 3 but I would say the experience underwhelmed me.

Extrordinary foodie experience! Fine dining and service with knowledgeable and fun staff. Thier steaks are over the top and the seafood tower makes for a delightful appetizer! Higher end menu but worth the visit and experience for a date night or special occasion. Dress code.
Mitchells steakhouse is great, the quality of the meat is amazing. Best burger around. You pay a little bit more but I am willing to pay a little extra to get a little extra. The service is something that is never seen anymore. This place is really something special, best place to take someone on a first date.
My husband and I stopped in Columbus for lunch on our way to meet with contractors. We have recently purchased property and are looking to expand a business in the region. We drove from DC so are in jeans. (Nothing trashy or too casual, but by no means your typical business attire) I should note Im also 7 months pregnant. When we walked in, the hostess gave me the most rude, absurd stare down. Almost as if judging me. The service from the waiter was mediocre to say best. We ordered two appetizers and informed him that we would wait to order an entree until we completed our appetizers, as that would determine what sort of meal we wanted. He came and asked if we were ready, at that point we only had one small piece of our appetizer left, my husband grabbed the menu and simply said ,come back in two minutes so we can order obviously implying we intended to glance at the menu he was holding to order. Over 25 minutes went by without any sight of our server. We finally agreed that the service was intolerable. We continued to wait, only to have my husband give our card to the hostess so we could at least pay.Ive traveled to world, been too many five star dining experiences, and although this steak house is a fine dining experience I wouldnt say its beyond luxury. I was appalled by service and sheer rudeness we were shown.I should note prices were very reasonable, almost cheap, food wasnt bad, however with service such as that I wouldnt go back. Pretentious servers and hostesses amuse me, as Im unsure why they are in any position to look down their nose at anyone.
This was one hell of an awesome steak place. Real high class place where people in sandals and shorts should feel foolish. The food is beyond compare and the bar has many unique and excellent options. If youve got a fancy date to go on, a nice celebration to take part in, or just some money to spend on a great steak, this is the place.
I love Mitchells! This is where we spent our 23rd Wedding Anniversary and just love how beautiful and clean it is. The service is awesome . And amazing food. Takes great chef to cook a 10 ounce filet mignon steak and cook it well done and still melts in your mouth . And the sides are big enough to share for two. As is desserts.
They were overwhelmed with a normal Friday night crowd for downtown Columbus. Poor bar service, inattentive staff, waited over an hour for food and when it did arrive the ribeye was cold as were the sides. I had high hopes for the night but left dissatisfied and hungry. Wont be back soon.
I was looking for a place to grab some food before a show at the Columbus Anthenaeum. I saw the posted menu and it interested me. I got there early and I believe that I was the only customer there. The bartender was very accommodating and suggested the bar menu. I ended up getting the Bloody Mary oysters, the prime burger, the seared tuna, and the wagyu tartare, all of which were fantastic! I also enjoyed a bloody mary which was also delicious! Very nice experience! Id definitely return!
The food and the service here are excellent, but the prices are ridiculous. $30-50 for steaks, with no sides included — unless you get the steakhouse special, which limits you to filet mignon, chicken, or shrimp. I would have rated Mitchells five stars if the prices were more reasonable and sides came with every meal.
We chose to spend our anniversary at Mitchells tonight. We were celebrating 40 years, our close friends were celebrating 20. The food was incredible. I cant remember the last time that I had my filet cooked to perfection like they did. All of us enjoyed our dinners. And our sweet and efficient server (Jessi) was thoughtful too. She brought little hearts and spread them on the table for our anniversary and Mitchells gave us desserts on the house for our celebration. The upside down apple bread pudding with caramel sauce is especially yummy. The food, the service, the ambience.....all came together for a wonderful evening. Thank you Mitchells and thank you Jessi! It’s very unfortunate this restaurant is ok with lying to customers. I arrived at 4:30 and the restaurant was empty, but I was told there was not a table available for one. Maybe this was because it was a table for one. Discriminate much? I will think twice about returning, better yet I probably won’t return. I’m sure Jeff Ruby’s wouldn’t mind a table for one. Oh and there were plenty of open tables when finishing my dinner.
Fantastic steak and fantastic service. This place may be on the pricier side, but youll definitely be getting your moneys worth. Try the bone-in filet that will just melt in your mouth. Or for true meat lovers, I recommend my personal favorite, the cowboy ribeye. 22 ounces of pure bliss. Pair with the applewood bacon brussels sprouts and a house red for a truly special dining experience.
In truth my wife and I would rate Mitchells Steakhouse a 3 1/2 stars. We went there for our wedding anniversary. The staff is professional and courteous, and our waiter knew the menu forwards and backwards. My wife order the 7 oz. Filet with mashed potatoes. She enjoyed her steak but thought that since the potatoes were so smooth, that they came out of a box! I order the waygu burger and that had to be the most dense heaviest burger Ive ever eaten. I guessing that it was about 1/2 lb. of meat, on top of that were two pieces of peppercorn bacon that looked to be about a 1/8 of an inch thick. On top of that Blue Cheese. YUM! By the time I was about 1/3 of the way done, grease was soaking up the bun. EVEN THE GREASE WAS DELICIOUS! Overall enjoyed our experience, but something was missing. Maybe it was Cameron Mitchell, cause now it is run by Landrys
THIS IS NOT A Cameron Mitchell restaurant so if you have a CM gift card head for the short north where there are three. Were not steak eaters so I cant speak to that but we really enjoy the salads and small plates which are fairly priced for this level of service and skill.Valet is $6
Excellent food options! If you want steak,,youll be well, pleased here at Mitchells Steakhouse! Dont buy Cameron Mitchels gift cards thinking you can use them at Cameron Mitchels Steakhouse. You cant I spent *** amount because I thought my gift cards worked and they would not accept them.I also got my steak late and too well done.Whats more disappointing is the Manager Gregg Vanderpole said basically it was not his problem. So hes telling me he runs the restaurant and he cant do anything. Even Gregg The Manager said he knew it was deceptive that it was not on the front of the card, But still would not do anything???I was completely humiliated and would never return and hope no one else will either.
Ever since Cameron Mitchell sold this steakhouse its gone wayyy down. Its owned by Landrys now. A billion dollar corporation solely owned by superior greedy jerk named, Tilman Fertitta. He gutted all that was good from Cameron Mitchell. Benefits have been stripped from long-standing employees. Typical cost-of-doing-business overhead has been passed down to the employees. They pay every week a fee in order to drink soda. They lost health insurance, vacation pay, and sick pay. Severs now have to pay a fee every time a cred card is used. Theyre also charged by Landrys to get their tips back in check form, as they dont take any tips everyday. It goes on and on and is only getting worse. Do not support businesses that dont take care of their employees, and dont care about honesty and quality. Please come save your baby, Mr. Cameron Mitchell!!!
Love this place. Thats my review. This isnt the forum, but I cant help but address one of the reviews I read on here.To reviewer Moran Clan...poor performance is unacceptable in any profession and paying customers have the right to a positive experience. I often eat out and hope that my experience is seamless. But since I know I have never held a position or been in a class in which I never made even one mistake ever, I realize it may not happen every time. Mistakes may happen, but I 100% agree that rudeness is unforgivable, especially in any service position.I am curious as to how u knew they were looking down on u? Did they say this or did u overhear this or was it really, truly just their faces/look? Perhaps they are simply unaware that the wrong look was interpreted as judgmental, just like certain patrons may be unaware that the way they speak to their servers is interpreted as overtly rude and disrespectful. That being said, the attitude that servers and hosts/hostesses arent in a position to look down on anyone is almost unbelievable in this day and age. No one is in a position to look down on others, not servers and not even those they serve. Also, that statement implies that they are too low to have anyone to look down on.Its almost ironic that the review was dripping with pretentiousness (possibly on purpose) when the people with the most class are those who dont look down on others. People with real class and sophistication dont need a hierarchy of peoples worth.Lastly, the number of servers who may one day be in a position to judge you is large. Many are graduate students, medical students, law school students, in whose hands someday our community will be placed. U never know when u may need them for more than a drink order (its a small world full of people with long memories). Restaurants are filled with some of Americas most important future business, medical, and law professionals, entrepreneurs, entertainers, musicians, authors, journalists, and more.And..I am out.
STEAK WAS delicious but honestly I thought it was very over priced..you pay for your choice of protein and sides are extra, which was nothing spectacular.I guess your paying for the experience of going to the best steak house in Columbus.Ive had steak just as good at Longhorns😏

2022-05-10The food was absolutely delicious! They even went out there way to decorate our table for our date. Great service and staff. Very professional and sweet! We cant wait to eat here again. This restaurant is amazing. Only issue was the food took a little long for it to be served to us.

2022-05-22Wonderful food in a very beautiful building. Our service was top notch and the meal was excellent. Its a little more on the pricey side as all items are ordered a la carte.

2022-05-27The filet mignon and Onion soup were top notch! Service was excellent and very personable. We noted we were on a date and they sprinkled hearts on the table. What a nice and unexpected touch! An extensive wine menu that covers Italians French, American and all of the classics and exclusives. Expect to pay steakhouse prices for a glass but know it is a good quality and perfect for a special occasion. We both ordered the Prix Fixe option and were very satisfied with the quality, portion and price. With the exception of the desserts everything was perfect. Filets were tender and I added the bone marrow butter. It was well flavored but would likely go with another option as the marrow flavor was overpowered by the butter. Steakhouse corn side was very sweet and one is plenty to share. The corn did not need the cream as it seemed more soupy and did not add anything to the dish. The Butter Cake and Crème Brule desserts were a let down so it would be a pass for next time. The cake was dry and seemed more like a bunt cake than a traditional Butter Cake. The Crème Brule was good consistency but the overall flavor seemed pale.Overall still deserving of a 4 star review and we would go again!

2022-01-31Went there this past Saturday night. Our waiter Ryan was terrible. We got there before 8pm and didnt get to leave until almost 11! My husband ordered a medium steak and it came out rare as rare could be. Our server never came back to check on us until the meal was over. (Which mind you had been over for quite a while before he could be bothered to check on us) To which then he asked if we wanted him to have it put back on the grill.. were all done eating at this point. We advised him the pop tasted flat and he never offered to get us anything else, he just kind of chuckled and left the table. Then the kicker was we ordered desserts to go and he never brought them to us. However we could see him talking and laughing amongst his coworkers by the kitchen and at the host stand. It was one of the worst experiences weve ever had!

2022-03-24Went in for the first time tonight and was absolutely blown away. The atmosphere was great, the staff was welcoming and attentive, and the food was phenomenal. I had the pork belly as an appetizer and, in my opinion, was the best thing you could eat with pork belly. For an entree, I had the best filet mignon I have ever had. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned and melted right in your mouth. If you are looking for a steakhouse in downtown Columbus, you must try Mitchells Steakhouse.

2022-03-31Steaks were delicious - mixed drinks were great too - pricing is aka carte and definitely high but it is a nice high end dining experience if that is what you’re looking for

2022-04-23We had an absolutely amazing dinner here. The staff were great and they really made for a fun time with our family. I also had asked to see the marbling on the australian wagyu steak prior to grilling and the chef actually brought out a couple options to let me choose my steak which my boys thought was so cool. Great wine list and they made a really cool smoked apple Manhatten tableside which was exquisite and fun to watch and smell being prepared.

2022-01-30Nice Atmosphere. Very Spacious. Facial Coverings Required. A Couple Of Draw Backs The Lighting And Difficulty Reading The Menu. Pricing Overrated In My Opinion.

2021-09-01Delicious restaurant & cozy bar. Visited Columbus for business, and stayed at the hotel across the street. Popped in for a drink & dinner, and Mitchell’s did not disappoint. The bar tender was friendly, helpful and attentive. We grabbed a Pepper Pot Calamari and Mango Moscato Sangria on the Happy Hour menu. Both were creative and delicious. The calamari was a feisty blend of peppers, onions, and jalapeño with siracha aioli over crunchy calamari. Flavorful with subtle heat and great textures. The Sangria was a fresh and summery blend of citrus and sweet. I ordered the Ora King Salmon, which was pan seared & served with mustard beurre blanc sauce and shaved Brussel sprouts with bacon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, with an amazing crisp on the edges. The combination of flavors and textures was delicious. The hint of mustard with the sprouts and bacon was such a great compliment to the flavor of the salmon. Truly a great dish! My friend ordered the Tenderloin Duet, filet medallions topped Oscar and scampi style, and paired with asparagus. The steak was cooked as requested, and the meal was reportedly very delicious. I will stop here again when I travel to Columbus, and try other items.
