This company is the absolute worst when it comes to scheduling patients to be picked up. We have had patients leaving wait HOURS and we have had patients who had their discharges be rescheduled to the next day because this company could not provide the transport that they scheduled. On top of that they lack the communication to let us know about transports. For example a patient was supposed to leave at 8p and they call at 8:30p to say they cannot transport them that day. Another time I had called several times after the start of my 3p shift to check a transport scheduled for 1p that day and it wasnt until 11p that they told us we were on will call and not technically scheduled. If you have a choice-go with another company. We unfortunately have a contract with this one and are not allowed to call another. They dont deserve this star that we are forced to give.
Ambulance pickup at Cleveland Clinic arranged 24 hours in advance, scheduled for 1:00. They called to say they were running late and would come by 5:00. Clinic called at 5:30 and company said they were busy today and would come in an hour or so.Nurses say Midwest is always late, sometimes by 8 hours or more, but that Donald Martens and Sons was always on time. Clinic must have chosen the low bidder - or perhaps there was some other reason.
I would give them a minus 10 stars if that was possible. My 89 year old mother was to be transported at 11:00 AM from the Cleveland Clinic main campus to a nursing facility 10 miles away here in Lakewood today. She is still waiting and they are currently 5 and a half hours late. After calling and talking to Josh the supervisor with no last name, he states theyll get her ASAP. I asked what his definition of ASAP was. He said about two hours. This is the WORST company for transporting a patient I have ever seen. Shame on the Cleveland Clinic for awarding them this contract. They obviously are incompetent.
This company is AWFUL. My father had a partial foot amputation at The Cleveland Clinic. The company was given strict instructions that they were to transport him via stretcher up to his second story apartment. He is a bigger guy, around 62 and 200 lbs, so they were also given very, very specific instructions by The Cleveland Clinic to have at least four people to maneuver the stretcher up the steps safely. His foot was supposed to remain elevated the entire time.He was discharged at 3:00 p.m. on a Monday. The company did not show up to get him until 1:30 a.m. that night. Okay, understandable, emergencies happen. However, they transported him in an ambulette without foot elevation, which they were absolutely not supposed to do. When the ambulette finally showed up at the apartment, two VERY SMALL employees got out, one male and one female. They were each around 55. They proceeded to have me balance him as he got off of the stretcher because his one foot was, obviously, completely non-weight-bearing. Which confused me because they were strictly instructed to transport him ON A STRETCHER up the stairs. They put him instead in a stair chair, which he was not supposed to be in, and strapped him in without his foot elevated. Because these two individuals were so small, the trip up the stairs was terrifying, with his foot being banged against things and both of them frequently losing their grip. I was spotting them the entire time just praying that they didnt drop him. When I called the company the next morning, they were extremely rude and short with me. They told me that the people who were transporting him were new and probably scared to call for additional assistance, which is EXACTLY what they were supposed to do! She had no excuse for them not transporting him in a stretcher the way they were specifically instructed to by The Cleveland Clinic. The entire experience was a nightmare, and Im thankful that its over. Their contract with The Clinic should be terminated if this is the level of service they are providing.
Nick who works with transport is horrible!!! He doesnt actively listen--and asks the same questions over and over. Also, he is very rude and unprofessional. At a Cleveland Clinic pick up, a patient was in the middle of eating lunch due to the meal tray being delivered late. He rushed the patient and said the patient didnt have time to finish the meal. This was a dialysis patient, and it is vital that this patient eats meals.
This place is the worst place to work for. Your schedule is all over the place and during the pandemic an employee contracted Covid-19 and they didnt send any email out letting us know of the precaution. The dispatcher dont even know where all the hospital are located at that why the ETA be messed up. Also the dispatch manager show favoritism on who she let work ot.
If you read the comments only employees say it is good. Actual people say they sucks. I want real reviews not people telling me they have a good time working there. If they are making people wait 7 hours for transport this is not a good company to use. I am just being honest.

2022-04-15The team that transported me was very good. The driver was excellent and so was Stacy. However the gurney I laid on might as well have been a bed of nails and the truck needs new shocks and exhaust since that’s what I smelled for my 1.5 hour ride.My back hurts so bad now I can’t even lay flat.If you ever need transport DONT USE THIS COMPANY!

2022-07-11I was transported by Sean and Nicole today and it was my first ever ambulance ride. They made me feel very comfortable and went above and beyond to make sure I got where I needed to go safely. I highly recommend this company

2021-09-022 years ago I gave Midwest a 5 star rating.. Today I am changing that to a 2… My direct manager was great and I loved my job at Midwest, until recently. Our schedules were changed in November forcing us to stay an hour later… Then in August they changed our schedules again saying we would have to now work 7:30a-7:30p, once again making us stay later. The people in higher management don’t have kids, so they don’t know what it’s like to leave for work when your kids are sleeping and also return home from work when your kids are getting ready for bed/already in bed… The reasoning behind the constant schedule changes was because of “business needs” well what about employee needs? Midwest medical is a good place to work like I said, I loved my job. But please don’t go work here if you have kids, they don’t care about anyone’s needs but the businesses & they definitely do not care about allowing a good work-life balance. I don’t like to talk bad about past employers, but I wanted to give the truth so potential employees know what to expect.

2021-11-08If you like being held over by at minimum an hour every shift. this is the place for you. they give you calls 15-20 minutes before getting off.dispatch alwasys has an attitude. we were never on time because we go call to call and have to get food at some point. theyll give the hospital an eta of say 430 pm, knowing damn well were not going to be there until 6.

2020-03-30My son has cerebral palsy and is non-verbal and non-ambulatory. His surgeon requires that he be transported flat on a cart due to the type of surgery he recently had and we were so fortunate to have Neil and Kevin as his strong and friendly team. These two gentlemen represent you well and are so careful and attentive. They were extremely kind to my son who was a bit anxious about the transport. They navigated our staircase with ease and went out of the way to ensure he was comfortable. We appreciate their attention to detail and their very genuinely kind nature. They are a great team! Bravo!

2021-09-15Just wanted to come back to say this place is a joke. Worked there over a year when they started here. From what I hear it’s still a joke and this place was so bad it made me change careers in total. Sad to say I make more as a certified service technician than a first responder. Not to mention the treatment from higher up. They should all be fired and never let near ems again.

2020-03-13Great company to work for , as a matter of fact one of the best Ive ever worked for. They treat you like family , new trucks and equipment , the medical supplies are always replenished and available for the crew to work with. You get decent down time. All the naysayers about Midwest are chodes and dont belong in Ems and need to find a new line of work.

2021-06-18Pretty sure Jeff Shullaw has no clue how bad the Cleveland market of his company really is!!!I’ve worked at several other transport companies and each one has its downfalls, but this one is by far the absolute worst!!!Changing the face of EMS…. What a joke!!!Do NOT WORK THERE!!!

2019-10-23First they left my 81 year old mother sitting in hospital for 4 hours past her discharge time. I was advised her discharge was 8 pm. My mother arrived at Midnight. Because two woman paramedics transported my mother they were unable to get the stretcher into the house. So mom waited another 30 minutes in the chilled night air. When the support team came they asked for Moms wheel chair. They transfer my mother, again the cold night air, to her wheel chair and from there they bumped her up the stairs. This is a fragile old woman. I will not stand for it. If I could given them 0 stars I would.
