One of the newest parks in the area. Kayak launch off the river, and about a mile and a half of trails. Really great place to visit on a lunch break. I usually see people fishing here in the afternoons. Also a nice off-leash dog play area, one fenced in area for large dogs and another for small. Lots of space for dogs to run around, and lots of trees/plants to sniff.
Recently developed area located near downtown, on the river... its not a large place but manages to fit most things a person and their 4 legged companion would require. A dog park area divided for large and small. No fancy toys but very roomy for energetic play, and quite convenient for the populous that calls that area home...my lil guy and I enjoy on and off the trails and on some days if no one is around we confess to off leash time to chase the occasional squirrel or rabbit...there is a spot intended for kayak launching...a couple of areas right on rivers edge to contemplate your place in this world or do some grilling...a comfortable looking shelter house with restroom and water fountain attached...an open air grouping of tables and chairs with a round of umbrellas overhead, at the moment resembling a tree full of chrysalises patiently waiting for spring completes the package...go enjoy.
.3-2020 update:Large dog side is CLOSED. Park is a MUD PIT. only grass left is seldom and all the way in the back, past the sitting bench if you know how far that is...Such a beautiful addition to Toledo. The dog park is awesome except I wish there were fountains inside the dog parks. Hopefully Toledo opens more dog park locations
Fantastic and free dog park. There are a couple bad eggs stirring the pot unfortunately, which you may not get at the glass City Park, but still a fantastic park, you just have to learn how to avoid. They are in the process of installing an irrigation system to get the grass back in order, showing that they are actively putting funds and effort into this park. Wish there was one closer in Sylvania as it is a bit of a drive, but totally worth it.
Not a bad park but not much to do for families. We walked the trail along the water which was nice. It is very clean and everything is new so that was a plus. The picnic area was very nice as well. If you want to take pictures along the water there are a few good spots to get the bridge or downtown in the background.
I love Middlegrounds metro park if I want a nice walk with the dog by the river. I like the dog park but I think it could use a little attention. Some overgrown shrubs and grass could have ticks in them but it is hardly something to keep me away. The water fountain by the building, in the middle of the park, does not have a fountain for dogs unfortunately.
Birdheim! Home of melodious mice and swamp birds of all plumage. Bike trails and Riverside swings make this a natural paradise within a walk from parking lots and highrises. Come learn about how swamps filter humanitys byproducts or converse with Cardinals. Shelter available for BBQ and boat launches for shipping out to sea.
The city metropark system is one of the best in the nation. This dog park at middlegrounds metropark is excellent. Its well maintained. My favorite feature is the separate areas for small dogs and large dogs. If youre visiting Toledo with your dogs, absolutely be sure to visit middlegrounds dog park. Its free to the public!
Very cool place! Tucked away along the river. Perfect for a picnic and quick walk to the waters edge. Facility was super clean and fresh. My family liked reading the small information boards in the pavilion. As someone from out of town this was a gem to find to stop and relax for an hour or two!
Great small park! On the river with a small cove area where kids can play in the water. Free dog park separated into small and large dog sides; only drawback is that it is often closed due to poor turf conditions due to poor drainage. Lovely facilities, a wonderful place to hang out in downtown Toledo
The park is beautiful and such a zen place with one of best views of Toledo! Wonderful pavilion and chill seating all over the park for a picnic. Im there with my dogs a few times a week to either walk the trail or hang out at the dog park! Weve also had an awesome staff potluck a few times there too.
My BF and I have come here several times to walk around. Today was the first day we took our dog here to the dog park. It was PERFECT! He had so much fun, everyone was friendly and welcoming, but best of all this dog park is Huge AND Free!! One of the only free and well maintained dog parks in Toledo.
Great dog park for small and large dogs. Bags and bins are provided for clean-up and there is usually a water bowl there. I enjoy taking a stroll down to the river where there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view of downtown. The park is patrolled by police often. Almost too often, if you ask me. Ive never been there with out a patrol car driving through, sometimes 3 or 4 times while I am there. I makes me a little curious...
Love this park, its really nice for the dogs and for walking around as well, I find so much peace here and just know that I can see God at this park by just looking around and hearing the peace! I am so glad that the city decided to make this place possible and am grateful for it a ton!! I suggest anyone to go here especially if you just want to sit by the water and hear nothing!!
Beautiful park not far from the heart of downtown Toledo. Has a kayak cove for launching kayaks into the Maumee River. Converted roundhouse from when this was a train yard which offers public restroom and shelter with picnic tables. Has a gazebo pad with multiple picnic areas. State of the art water reclamation system from drainage from the near by bridge.
Ive always loved the waterfront, and the Metroparks have done a superb job of reclaiming a heavy industrial site into a really great park. You can visit the whole thing in a leisurely hour, and even take out a canoe or kayak onto the river right from the park. A fine addition to a very fine collection of parks for Northwest Ohio.
Took my 2 husky puppies here for the first time today it was a decent park... It is winter after all so everything looks a bit dead but it was pretty decent sized running area for both small and large dogs considering its location...it looks like they have been working in the winter to better the park for spring time!!! Met a handfull of locals there around 9 am while we were there very friendly and plenty of convo to exchange about your dogs. Great job Toledo for offering a free dog park in a great location for people who may not be able to offord a membership at some over rated fancy dog park miles away! My partner and I look forward to the improvements that are all ready showing...there are plenty of walkways to venture on and enjoy the sites!!!
Since I am living in Toledo Ohio for 17; years. this is my first time of visiting this incredibly busy and beautiful Metropark .. very close to Amtrak station/ Greyhound bus station. From the beach and small bridge construction. Overlooking the ocean... you can see the ship sailing on the water...Security/ Fire service were around at the short notice .We had one Nigerian lady hosting many people for her graduation Reception.
Great new parkspace downtown. I knew there was a little stretch of vacant land here but didnt realize how big it is when your there in person. They managed to get alot of useful amenities into this park. Plenty of spaces to just sit and relax with views of the river, the high-level bridge, and downtown. Theres also a nice canoe/kayak launch and a dog park.
Dog park is wonderful, everyone is so understanding of any type of behavior in your dog, dont try a public park to socialize your dog, bring them here consistently and they will get better, but be prepared to remove your dog is they are harmful to another dog or person
Very strange expression I felt here in Toledo and this bridge from 60th. Parks, streets are almost empty. A lot of houses are closed. Like depression in 30th. But some stories are good and you want to have a drive. You wish more air and motion, likeI I passed the river Maumee and rain is started. The big drops fell down on my t-shirt and this fresh air gave me more positive emotions and impression from oversight. Grow up Toledo doesnt be weak.

2021-12-06As a wedding photographer, I LOVE Middlegrounds! Its close to downtown Toledo wedding venues, provides an amazing backdrop for small elopements, and is a perfect spot for engagement photos. It looks beautiful year-round and has restrooms to change clothes, ample parking, and lots of different locations with different scenery to change things up. We are so lucky to have such a versatile and convenient park in the area!

2022-01-20Ive only used the dog park area, but my dog adores it and I personally feel its the best dog park Ive been to after living in 4 different states with my dog. I keep coming back here to spend time with the other dogs and dog owners, and I hear the rest of the park is up to the same standards of care as the dog park.

2022-04-18I visited this park during lunchtime just to look at the water and noticed a big ship passing by. This park is very quiet and small but cozy. They also have a dog park which from the look of things, the dogs were enjoying the moment.

2022-05-15This is a great public park for dogs, it is fenced in an quite large. I havent had any incidents yet but Ive heard of some bad dog behavior due to owners not paying attention, but that would happen at any dog park. Im grateful to have this as an option to get my dog some exercise.

2021-09-04Super cute open area dog park with decent amounts of shade. Not open when it rains. Had a small mud pit our dog was very interested in. Also has a doggie fountain, but it was outside the off leash area forSome reason

2022-04-16This is a nice park under the high level bridge. Well patrolled by both TPD and Metropark Rangers. Its a place to walk, have a BBQ, rent the shelter house, fish or watch the traffic on the river. If you haven’t been here you should go.

2019-10-15Awesome trails, beautiful view and great sized free dog park. Now if dog owners would just clean up after their animals. I cleaned up about 5 of them plus my own dogs mess. Follow the rules people, dont spoil a good thing!
