The 3.5hr wait was quite long but they were very busy upon checkin. Very nice and willing staff from ER checkin to dr’s, nurses, and radiology. Although they were unable to find root cause for my abdominal pain, they definitely tried and did what they could. I really appreciate all that mercy did for me.
Im in here now from a Terrible Biopsy I had done at St. Josephs in Warren. I have painful Pancreatitis now!! I have been suffering since I got here. Im on the 5th floor and the nurses are majority mean and uncaring!! I asked for an.icepack 1 hour ago! The nurse just hangs up on me!! I would give this Hospital a negative number if available!
My father was transferred from another hospital with a internal bleed he waited 2 days for the test he needed to fix this bleed all the while getting blood transfusions because his hemoglobin kept dropping he haven’t eaten some Monday so on Thursday he finally got the procedure the surgeon left and didn’t speak to is to let us know anything . Just took him up to the room and left is wondering wth happened to him . Sat and waited for a hospital dr to come in and update us as to what happens in this procedure and nothing now visiting hours are over and we have to leave and we know nothing as to wut is going on with my dad 😞 I am appalled at the way we have been treated by some people in this hospital the nurses he has were great but that’s about it ….. worst hospital
Do NOT use this hospital. make the drive to Trumbull memorial, Pitt or Cleveland. This hospital is filthy, my dad was put in a room with someone elses bodily fluids hanging on the wall, dirty toilet in room, water cups, toothbrush etc. The staff is atrocious, The ICU doctor yells at and belittles family members of multiple families on the unit. They are not saving anyone and dont want to.
The worse of the worse. Ive had huge respect for doctors and nurses until I came to this hospital. Only one or 2 good nurses who actually cared and helped. The doctors Ive had lied to my face and diagnosed me with something unrelated to what I came for. Theres more that I can list. Liars and evil doctors and nurses are all in this hospital.
I normally love Mercy however the didn’t do what they needed with my father while in there with Covid. Prior to Covid he never was on O2, he never had therapy to practice steps with O2 on. When asked about why he wasn’t getting therapy, they said he was walking to bathroom yet I stressed he had steps 7 to get to bathroom and 3 to enter house. They said he was denied to go to skilled services because he scored high on some eval. That was a lie. His info was sent to a skilled nursing facility the day he was discharged while Friday the 10 they told me he was denied. Only one case manager understood her name was Monica and she was amazing. Sent him home with a huge portable he couldn’t even lift and said he could carry it up the steps. I’m a therapist so I know what needs to take place before discharge home. He should of went to skilled nursing. So thank you for sending him home barely able to walk with the O2 tubing and up steps. Very upset
The worst hospital ever. The wait time are excessive. Completely unorganized miss managed. Basically if you need emergency help. You will probably die here. The fact its the only hospital in the area. They get away with this nonsense. The city died many years ago. Unfortunately no one told them....waited 4 hours just to get checked in. Then was told it would be 8-12 hrs before we could see a doctor.St. Elisabeth go **** yourself...
Got ring worm as soon as I got there. I can’t remember her name but she was so mean to me after my surgery. She hated her job. She would just walk in without knocking. Stomping around. The fire alarm kept going off and no one would come in and say if we should run out or if it was ok.
Seriously awful. This is the 6th time I’ve been back for the same thing. Coughing up black stuff for over a year now and was told by nurses “it’s normal” Last week while there my skin was mottling, I had a terrible cough, terrible back pain. I decided to go to the Cleveland Clinic instead where doctors rushed to get me into specialists because it is indeed NOT normal. Now I’m running left and right to appointments to catch something that Mercy neglected to look into. Yesterday I came in once again throwing up blood and showing signs of a mini stroke, I waited in the waiting room for 2 hours with no check up, no blood pressure taken, no nothing. They don’t care whatsoever.
Very professional staff with a beautiful facility. Very clean, spacious, newer building. This is our second surgery here and it has been wonderful experiences both times. Dr Butler, Dr Cammond from anesthesia, nurses Michelle and Stephanie and the other staff were caring and efficient. A+ thanks for all you do!
I understand covid is around, staff is short but, lets face it this just has started with COVID . Today Ive been here with my 96 year old grandma thats has NEVER BEEN to a hospital barley has ever been sick. Last week fell first time broke her back, has been throwing up, diarrhea, needs fluids. Thengovernment wants to know why COVID numbers are up but, waiting room have two covid patient in waiting room. Then people that are saying they have shortness ofbreath dont even look they are sick. If you have shortness of breath give oxygen in waiting room, if you need IVs give fluid in waiting room would save time. What ever happened to ones who are older,or may have major issues first. It you have shortness of breath you could clearly see. Im so beyond this hospital Ive had nothing but,bad experience here and now even worse I never thought a 96 years old woman would ever have to wait this long, they should be ashamed.Open North side back up for COVID people do something this is Bs and then you get changed for your time in waiting room that bill should be waived.
As of this minute I have been in the Emergency Room for 6 hours without care. I have been given no reasonable expectation of care, told that there are no beds and had to remind staff multiple times of my orders for blood work and an ultrasound. Could not be more disheartened by a medical facility.
My brother had arm and wrist surgery here. It was a complicated surgery. Dr Butler was wonderful. Both the nurses he had were also very caring and professional. It was smooth and a great experience. The anesthesia department was very professional as well. It was a clean facility as well. Will use this hospital again if needed. Thank you all.
The nurses in the covid ICU are just incredible. All of them. My father in law has been there for almost a week transferred from another hospital. They are the friendliest most understanding staff we have communicated with and I have nothing but good things to say. Ladies.... thank you so much for making such an incredibly stressful time in our family’s lives a little less stressful. You are all angels and we will never forget you
Registered at 9am after 5 hours nurse tried to street me with labs that have concerning abnormalities. I raised my concern to have have another test ordered, another 4 hours without seeing anyone or being tested I left. I asked at 5pm if I could soon be seen. I was told not likely, and my patience ran out. I expressed my frustration and was told you cant talk to me like that and they are working on people that want to be there
I was there for a COVID test. Yes, I waited 9 hours but so did a waiting room of other sick people. I wish people would understand that these hospital personnel, nurses, doctors, receptionist, hospital aides and orderlies are overworked and most are underpaid. They are doing the best they can to help! If you are complaining about the service why not go to school and become a nurse or doctor or submit an application to become an aide or orderly and you will see how hard it is working these jobs and dealing with COVID and the public. I thank this facility for even being in this community, no it’s not perfect by any means, but you could be living out in Nebraska where they are facing getting shipped to other states for care or dying because there is not enough hospitals! Be thankful community, it could be worse!
Went into the ER for 12 hours waiting to be seen for stomach pain and bleeding (just found out i was pregnant a few days ago) asked the desk roughly how much longer after waiting 5 hours. And he was extreamly rude just said that we would be waiting a whole lot longer and that he didnt know what to tell us. After 5 mor hours we asked again just to be told we were no longer on the waiting list!! Never seen anyone..
Worst care possible given to my daughter. She is a Covid patient, 32 weeks pregnant and alone in isolation. She has been there five days and has not physically seen one doctor except the pulmonary doctor one time. They have not explained anything to her regarding her plan of care, except what I update her on in her my chart. I head on the phone from 2 am until 3 am waiting on a nurse to check on her. She called three times while on the phone with me and no one responded. Finally the nurse came in and said I can see your monitor, it’s not an emergency. My daughter said I can not breath I need more oxygen. She heard the wrath of me. Rude, lazy, and unprofessional. Do your job.
Took my daughter into the ER with severe abdominal pain. She was seen by Dr. Charles Farrell who without doing any due diligence or test (other than a few labs) diagnosed her with stomach acid. She was back 2 days later and admitted with gallstones and severe infection - end result was a 6 day hospital stay coupled with a surgery. Her gallbladder was basically dead - another day and she might have been as well. He should have his license revoked.
Filthy hospital. the Youngstown location is worse though (and even more filthy). like no joke, youd have to see for yourself. Fruit fies, leaking coffee machines, liquids on the floor, dirt, blo0dy tissues, etc. but the boardman location is known to have more rude nurses (but lets face it a LOT of nurses are rude),. One nurse was having attitude with me because he must have had a bad day. I ususally dont care, but it still would be a lot nicer if you didnt take it out on innocent people that have nothing to do with you. Anyway, this rude nurse did my bl0od work incorrectly because of his attitude or bad day or whatever, and left the tie on my arm until i was dizzy. I didnt say anything, because he was rude, but I definitely will not be nice OR patient at all next time. Some chubby male nurse with a feminine voice is the one I got. there is a reason why both hospitals have 2 stars. please listen, because it is true. stay away unless youre literally in the process of dy1ng. Try to drive to another hospital if you can. If you cant handle your job, you should quit instead of taking your anger out on everyone. Oh, not to mention, I saw a nurse yell at someone who was having a HEART ATTACK. Probably not a logical idea to do that.
I was taken to hospital on July 17th with severe pain on left side front to back. Did not have to wait long. Nurses and Doctors very informative. Went right to X-ray & it showed a kidney stone. So happy they got me in and out in three hours. Thanks for Doctors & Nurses for all you do ❤️
I been to this hospital twice in the last year. I paid 530 the last time I went and never was actually examined. I had a lump in my neck and ear and was actually got escorted by police for arguing the fact I was not examined and was placed on a bed in the hall way. Yesterday I pulled a marble out of my ear and it pulled the ear canal blockage with it. I feel a million times better. This hospital has charged my ins and me 530 and then shewed me away. I solved the problem for 10 bucks. I used carbamide peroxide to loosen them issue. And then removed the blockage. Now the hot feeling of infection draining from my face will hopefully be all my symptoms. This is the worst hospital I have ever been too. Easy. This was 2 visits for as long as a year. I have to wIt till Monday to talk to anyone that mat actually give me antibiotics....thanks
Waiting room is PACKED. I’ve been here for an hour and they haven’t even had a bed cleared up. People coughing everywhere without masks on (I really don’t want to risk getting COVID since I work with those who are at risk). I’ve only seen three nurses. Honestly, just go to another hospital. It’s going on two hours for me, and that’s two out of MANY more.
Going into the ER or hospital is scary enough let alone wondering what kind of staff is waiting. You always hear horror stories about being treated bad, waiting hours.. that wasn’t the case here. Tuesday I went in with unbelievable pains, got right in and was treated with such kindness and respect. I just got home about 3 hours ago from my unexpected stay where I needed to have my gallbladder removed and I just wanted to give a huge shout out to every single person working in that hotel. Even if they weren’t my nurse or working with me, I got treated like I was apart of their family and have never felt so comfortable. I was there for about 4 days so I did get to meet a lot of the staff and even if I tried, I couldn’t come up with anything negative. It’s hard to be in a hospital alone and go into/come out of surgery alone but never once did I feel like I was without someone there with me. They made my dreadful experience so amazingly rememberable. Shout out to whoever the hiring director is because I’ve never met such a great staff before! I would recommended this hospital to anyone, even if they didn’t ask & I will continue to brag about how amazing everyone was cause I was truly overwhelmed with the amount of love & hospitality they had to offer! Thank you guys so much for not only fixing me up but making me feel welcome and safe! They really are heroes.
The staff here made the birth of my son as easy and stress-free as possible..and trust me I was STRESSED! The nursing staff was very personable and caring and attentive. The cleaning staff were on the ball and the food was way better than expected. If we are blessed with another child I hope we have it here!
Spent about six days in Mercy (Boardman) over the last year or so. First visit involved a urinary tract infection that took about 5 days to treat, including being cathed with something that felt like a garden hose. Got there via ambulance (no sirens, etc - I was seriously messed up and in a lot of pain, but getting there at all was rather more important. With two seriously trivial problems, there werent any.... One night I got quite cold, and it took a while to get another blanket (the staff were busy with something that apparently was a lot more important), I finally got one - I wasnt able to get out of bed to get my own. Sometime the next day, the TV decided that I wanted to listen to Forged in Fire but chose to not let me see it, or change channels. One of the staff wandered in, and I asked her to check it out. The suggested first try powering off the set, and then back on. Worked....A totally trivial problem: They sent up a young lady with some PT training. Im not quite sure she was old enough to drive, but that was pleasant. (The wife wouldnt let me keep her....)Im ignoring a CT scan (not particularly unpleasant), and an MRI that was unpleasantly loud, no problems. $20-$30 worth of muffs would have handled that. The last, and most recent visit, concerned a nasty infection on my right clavicle. Quick service, and the young nurse who (under a Physicians supervision) dug that out and medicated it did her best and seemed to care if she hurt me or not. (She did hurt a bit - no worse than a dental extraction.)
I dont know why I keep coming back here. Probably because its the only hospital around. They have never once given me a diagnosis at the ER or helped me with the health problems Ive struggled with over the years. I went to the ER recently because I was in pain. It was pain I have had for awhile, but I was hoping they could get to the source of the issue. I asked them to test me for certain things. They pretty much tested me for everything except what I asked. They didnt listen to me when I expressed concerns. They told me nothing was wrong, gave me anxiety pills, and then charged me $2,000 and then told me that The Emergency Room is for emergencies. So, dont bother wasting your time with this place.
Read there was a fight between doctors, not sure how many, news said 2, one got arrested. Think there is more to this story. Could have been 4 or 5, some helping out. Did patients really walk out? Sad place this hospital. ER is a disaster no help, people quiting all the time. No where else to go. Need help here, please apply.
This was the worst hospital, I have ever been too. I waited over 8 hours to see a nurse or doctor. I have a history of blood clots. Complete lack of administration, coordination and medical professionals. Extremely short staffed to the point, they should not be open as an ER. Dangerous place for your loved ones, dont go here.
My wife was brought in for disc problems in her back which is causing numbness and a burning tingleing when not numb. This was after being told by her PCP to go to the ER if the symptoms persisted. Here we are. We arrived at 10:30 pm. It is now 3:50 and we just now spoke with the admissions to sign treatment concent forms. The nurse was polite but also informed us that unexplicably my wife hasnt even been assigned a nurse, intern, a doc, or anyone at all for that matter. After explaining the situation she left to go speak with some to find out the delay of any treatment at all. Needless to say this has been eye opening and a painful disappointment. Go some where else if you can.
Ive had excellent experiences when it came to the Labor and Delivery/Mother and Baby unit. They were always so professional, clean, friendly, and helpful. Ive had both my children there and plan to deliver there again if I have any more. However my experiences in the ER have not always been the same. The wait times are almost always ridiculously long, and Ive had times where I was either not taken seriously or not diagnosed correctly. Its a great hospital but needs some work.
My partner and I live in Virginia and she found out she needed a hip replacement. After months (partially covid problems) trying to get it done in Virginia, she decided to return to Ohio to use the same surgeon that did the same procedure on her brother very successfully. From pre-op to check in to covid testing we knew we werent out east any more - short lines, friendly people and costs more reasonable across the board. This morning my partner checked in at 5:30 a.m. to courteous staff and by 11 I received a call directly from the operating surgeon that all went well. She needs to stay for an overnight and has already started rehab and post-op treatment on the seventh floor in a spacy private room. On that note I want to particularly commend the seventh floor nursing staff on duty: Jamie on the day shift handing off seamlessly to Sara on the night shift. They are gems, knowledgeable and kind. The perfect end to a milestone day. We wish all nurses were like this amazing team. If smart, staff management will let them know they have helped a patient get through a challenging day with their smiles and advice. They are an example for all.
I was in some serious lower back pain (pain in the 10s) and arrived by ambulance shortly after midnight. I was quickly diagnosed (within a 1/2 hour) and taken to x-ray (meer minutes later). I was then greeted by a nurse who gave me 2 pills and 3 shots. My pain went from a 10 to a 4, sometimes a five depending how I moved.Staff was very courteous, friendly, and even joked with me. I was nervous arriving but left feeling confident that if I need to go back, I will be well taken care of. The people in hospitals are just some of the heroes in our ever changing and sometimes scary world.Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” ― Fred Rogers.
Very bad experience when delivering my son. I receive the epidural which was not placed in right. I was in screaming pain for over 13 hours nobody bother to check on my epidural. Then I was in the middle of a contraction when the one nurse wanted to check me which I told her I did not want checked right then because I was in the middle of a contraction and in pain. The nurses response was well I dont feel like being here to deliver this baby but here we are. She was very rude the whole night to me. I will never go there again to delivery. I had the worst experience as a first time mom.
The reviews for this hospital were terrible, so I almost went to a hospital that is further away. I am so glad I decided to take a chance with this location because it was one of the best medical experiences I have had. I arrived at 9:30 and left at 12:30. I was taken back quickly. Every single person that provided care was kind, thorough and polite. I had a CT scan, ultrasound and X-ray taken before the doctor provided me with a diagnosis. My nurse did a great job making me comfortable and taking my blood. I have never had a better experience. Thank you St. Elizabeth’s/Mercy health.
My wife and I delivered our baby here via c-section and the entire process from start to end was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and ensured that everything went smoothly. When you spend 5 days in the hospital, you get to know some of the staff and they begin to feel like family. Even staff working in the cafeteria asked about the baby each day and wanted to see pictures. Great experience and highly recommend for delivering babies.
Strictly a lab review only: I had to get labs ran today & I quickly remembered why I don’t come to this lab. The one technician is a miserable human being! She doesn’t crack a smile, she acts like it’s a bother to deal with people, & gave me a dirty look without answering my question when I asked if I could use a restroom WHILE I WAIT. She just grabbed my papers out of my hand, turned, & walked away. It’s not like I was holding her up, there are people ahead of me!This reminded me of a similar experience with her when I came once before. At that time, in addition to being rude, she was also trash talking one coworker to another. I didn’t say anything at the time as I thought maybe they had a bad day, but here we are, a yr later, & she’s still apparently “having a bad day”. I work with patients daily. I would NEVER consider being so rude to patients at my office like she is to patients here.
I went to the ER I couldnt breathe. 5 hours later they sent me away I still couldnt breathe. But theres nothing wrong with me I wasnt helped one bit. This is such a good hospital five years ago. I wont be going there again. Edit... Bp 168/77 pulse 105 respiration 26 at release
After reading many of these reviews, I see that the so-called care that I received is not an uncommon thing. Some doctors are only good for writing prescriptions (especially for stuff you dont need). Unless the machine tells them something....most are lost. With that, Ill leave my one star, and go. 乁༼☯‿☯✿༽ㄏ
Horrible experience yesterday! Nothing but a bill padding money grabbing operation! Treated like a street addict while experiencing kidney stone pain. At one point after telling them over and over again about my distinct issue, It was inferred by the doctor that I shouldn’t even be there. (I was told to go there by my urologist.). I had CT results from a scan the previous week along with an extensive history of kidney stones treated by St Elizabeth. I even gave them the disk to look at. I told them to contact my family dr as well for the ct report. Not only did they insist on another ct but did a chest x ray when my stone was near my bladder in ureter tube. Dr told me because my family dr wasn’t in yesterday that they couldn’t obtain ct report. I called my family dr office on my cell and they faxed it to er dr. They still insisted on a ct scan! Horrible experience! Money grabbing operation!
Like any hospital, this one has issues as the next! They expanded their emergency services, to deal with non critical illnesses. The rooms in the hospital are private, and that in itself, is a great asset! All in all, they do a great job in caring for the sick. The hospital is always clean, and the staff is generally kind & compassionate.
This is strictly a billing review! Please know that the staff was wonderful and I received incredible care. However, I was approached by billing while being treated in the ED; note I was in pain and received stitches-due to my injury at that time. I was told that if I paid in full now-I would receive a discount. I asked if this would cover my visit and treatment received, she stated yes. Based on that I ultimately paid my bill in full; I mean who would not want a discount on such a large bill. Unfortunately, I am now being billed by the doctors that treated me while I was in the ED. Its not that they are not entitled to be paid for the services rendered, but I was lead to believe that the bill I was paying included ALL charges. Therefore, I called customer service for billing, I strongly voiced my displeasure and anger, but was ALWAYS professional. The representative stated I should have been informed that what I paid would not be the final bill but that I was still responsible for any subsequent bill. I stated that was not the case and that I paid the bill-I didnt think I owed any more money. I stated it was under false pretense I paid my bill-I specifically asked if it was the final bill. She stated that, well, if its not paid itll go to collection. Really as if I didnt know that! Wow what a lovely way to treat a customer! Even the financial representative in the ED was more professional than the phone customer service! Mercy should not be able to promote a discount on the bill when IN FACT it is not the full amount that will be owed. I personally feel they should be REQUIRED to produce an itemized bill illustrating ALL charges inclusive of the doctors fee-or specifically state that the bill IS NOT THE FINAL BILL. I personally believe they should be prevented from using semantics and false pretenses in order to get payment. I mean what did I pay for, or more importantly who will I have to pay next????
My aunt was in this hospital for weeks. IC for a couple of weeks then transferred to another floor. this hospital should be closed. very under staffed, if you push the call button you would be lucky if someone came in after 30 minutes. aunt had to use the rest room and needed help to get to it, after 30 minutes someone came in to see what she wanted. after she asked for help, nurse said next time to just mess the bed if someone does not come. they have no problem charging you 5 star rates at this place and delivering only 1 star service. this is what happens when accountants run hospitals instead of people who care about the people. the staff cannot help it if the management under staffs for more money in there pockets. should outlaw accounts in charge of any hospitals. patients should always come first. read who runs mercy health care. hospitals should never be listed as an investment stock
This place is horrible if you have any serious health conditions do not go to this hospital my mother is still on life support fighting for her life after coming to this place they do not do what theyre supposed to the doctors and nurses would rather hang out with each other then take care of their patients my mother came in with a common cold and ended up on life support due to their neglect and with me reading through a lot of these comments I do not understand why they are still open I do not understand why someone hasnt stepped up and started investigating this hospital it is a shame when doctors in Youngstown will tell you if you have life-threatening illnesses to go to Cleveland or anywhere else but these hospitals I am absolutely looking into a way we can have this place shut down or to make sure every single person that comes into this facility is cared for properly and taking care of the way they should be its a shame that they are the only hospitals we have around and the sad thing is its like theyre trying to kill us off the experience was horrible what I witnessed with other families in this same area and hearing the stories of their loved ones now have two in the fight for their life due to the mistakes and improper care of this hospital is ridiculous and that is in just a weeks time how do we put a spotlight on this hospital so that we know our loved ones are properly cared for its not about money money does not replace a loved one I feel like a lot of people just will file a lawsuit and not be able to speak on it when what we really need to do is voice how bad this place is and put a stop to it and yes there are some good nurses and some good doctors there but why is it it seems like there is more bad ones than good ones . # #### we deserve better our loved ones deserve proper care
10/10. Had an emergency appendectomy and was admitted here for a few days. Sean, Diana, and Lindsay were absolutely fantastic. They made a bad experience better with their friendly, caring, and upbeat demeanor. I have never seen excellence like this from a hospital. They deserve recognition.
This hospital is NOT equipped or staffed to treat anyone in a critical care situation. If you are talking someone to the ER you ultimately do not know what their needs are that is why you are placing them in the trust of medical professionals. However, this “hospital” is run more on nursing care with Doctors on call.Be aware that not all hospitals are not staffed equally so they do not all have the medication or ability to administer medication equally and your loved one will lose precious time by taking them to this nursing care facilitywhen they then will need to be transferred. They are open as an ER clinic and they will not turn you away, they are there to collect the money that is readily available in Boardman and Canfield.
Nurse (Diane) left our sons NICU open, and proceeds to argue with my wife that its not while we are both watching on NICVIEW the whole time and it clearly was! Then after she actually checks, says oh I guess it is.. They are ridiculous on vending prices, and have the actual food vending machines in the kitchen where you CANT get food if they are closed!!! Almost nothing in this place makes sense and MOST the people have really crapy attitudes! Especially the kitchen staff thats supposed to call patients for their meals!!
The surgery area was wonderful. The staff was so friendly to my son who was having surgery. Also the waiting area clean with free coffee and mints. Also, they have a volunteer going around offering drinks and cookies which other hospitals I have been too don’t do this service. Kudos to the customer service.
Watched in the last 8 months a sister and 2 daughters deliver their babies here. Sister had terrible experience. One daughter had a good one. Other daughter not too bad either except for this covid thing with only one support person aloud and no visitors. But I thought fathers got to eat with the mommys too. My son in law is there with my daughter. Because of covid only one person which is him. I took them there yesterday in a rush and she had the baby. However the father has no money with him and hasnt ate since before they got to hospital yesterday and hospital dont even feed him thats sad of a hospital but i will make it there today and get money to him somehow
I had my brother here today for outpatient surgery. The admitting girls were very nice, the nurses that took care of my brother were very nice, both preoperative and postoperative . The wait for surgery wasnt too long. The hospital and restroom were clean. Was very pleased.
I am Permently Disabled and I go to Mercy Health in Boardman. I Love them girls in Scheduling to the Imaging Dept. I myself have never had nothing but Wonderful treatment. There under staffed and yes, ER isnt pleasant at all, but know your gonna wait, be your own Advocate, check papers, ask questions, and mostly bring something to keep you occupied, if in bad Pain, you keep telling the nurse, its them who get everything done. I have been lucky with Doctors, I mostly LOVED them All. Just remember, theres always someone so much worse off than you. God Bless & Merry Christmas.
It was aweful. Went in complaining of throat and chest and infected finger. They never looked at my throat, not once. Although I asked several times. Lanced my finger... was unsuccessful at draining it, then left it unwrapped! Just walked out, then they came in and told me my bloodwork came back good.. my blood tubes were still laying on the counter.. they never took it! So she apologized and took them. Then... they were testing me for a UTI and I asked why? I said my throat is bleeding and no ones even looked at it .... no reason was given. Then, upon discharge, went over my current meds one which is ibuprofen subscribed to me. Was told to continue to take my meds among the scripts they gave me. Well, go to pick them up at my pharmacy and thank goodness she is observant, because she informed me that my ibuprofen cannot be takin in combination with one of the scripts. No one knows what their doing. They talk about their personal problems way too much. I know all about their tax withholdings !! Because they were sitting on the computer looking at their paystubs complaining while I was sitting in their radiology room waiting for my X-ray. This hospital use to be amazing. Not long ago. I trusted them so much and they were always wonderful. And the last 2 times I’ve been there... I understand why everyone complains now: I tried to keep an open mind.. but it is absolutely terrible care. And I pray that if I ever truly have an emergency, that the nearest hospital isn’t this one. Just super disappointed. I didn’t leave there feeling like I got answers, proper care, or like I went to an actual emergency room. So so bad. Shame on them . If this is their standard of care, they really should just shut down.
Been sitting in the waiting room for 6 hours now and still havent been seen for a possible appendix burst ... this is ridiculous. The staff is just standing around . The waiting room had maybe 10 people when we arrived at 11am .. it is now 5:45pm ... what is going on here ?!
My grandma went here for about a week. The staff was friendly and the service was good. My only complaint is the RNs dont spend much time with their patients and we had good and bad nurses. I am an RN myself at a skilled facility and I understand being short staffed but we had to go in daily all day to be sure she got taken care of properly.
I went to the ER today- and the staff was amazing! It was so efficient and they worked very hard to keep me updated and comfortable. Dr Urbanky, a new nurse, TJ & the girl who performed some image work were all amazing. Even the lady who did my intake was empathetic and efficient. I was very thankful for all of the staff and definitely give them all 5 stars
Last saturday morning, my husband took me to E.R. for chest pain, I was seen immediately, was told I was having a heart attack and that I would be transported downtown very quickly to the cath lab. Within minutes I suffered a cardiac arrest and when I came back around Dr told me I had been shocked twice. They got me transported and to the cath lab and stent inserted. Will give review of downtown on their site (they were great). This ER staff LITERALLY saved my life. Staff was wonderful - doctors, nurses, EKG techs, lab techs and anyone else involved in my care that morning. My husband says that he was treated very well and a staff member never left him during my cardiac arrest. They offered to call other family members for him because he was too shook up. Overall - I owe my life to the docs, nurses, and other involved staff that cared for me that morning.
STOP sending every pregnant woman to this hospital if you are not going to have it properly staffed and enough rooms to accommodate those who come in! There are more then 10 pregnant women in this area who can have an emergency at any moment that will be sent into L&D!! I dont care how nice it looks, the staff in that area are so rude it was unbelievable! Why work in a department if you are going to talk trash about the women giving birth or had just gave birth.
My mom fell and ended up in the ER. As we waited, I was looking around the room. The gurney she was laying on had dust balls on the base of the bed. It hadnt been cleaned in a long time. How can that not be done in a hospital?! St. Es needs to get its cleaning staff better trained!
I will never go back to this hospital. Staff is completely unknowlegable, and communication is absolutely terrible. Went in for a foreign object in my joint and all they were worried about was my pregnancy (Im not pregant, and told them this). Told me to go to my family doc for the foreign object on Monday, but continued to push me to take a pregnancy test!! After refusing their ridiculous request, I go home to find acne medications listed on my paperwork when I was given an antibiotic, as well as numbers for my vitals that they didnt even check during my visit! I am absolutely disgusted by the care I received and the terrible communication here! Oh, and to top it off, they called my medication in under the wrong name!!! I never imagined a hospital could be this awful!
This Hospital is absolutely Terrible!!! When I came in from an ambulance after having a motorcycle accident the Dr and Nurses that were taking care of me were going to release me while Half the skin on my back was gone from road rash and they never even took my jacket or cut my hoodie off until I told them too! They legit were going to release me without even doing a full check all around to see if I was okay when I was telling them my back was in severe pain. Once they finally listened to me they cut my hoodie off and rocks were falling out of my back along with bad road rash that they had to clean out. I mean how bad can a Dr or a nurse be? just go to St Elizabeths and youll find the Worst hospital staff in the area! Luckily I forced them to look at my back and clean the wounds, But nobody should have to be put in a situation like that where the nurses do not care, and the Drs barely even give you the time of day... And the second time I went without having insurance they charged me over $2500 for keeping me in a room for more than 4 hours and not even checking on me. Then almost 3 MONTHS Later the DR sends me a $900 bill for him coming into my room for a Maximum of 5 minutes... Totally absurd what they do there, and If you need an ER visit just drive somewhere else regardless of how much pain your in because this Boardman St Elizabeth staff is so lazy and none of them care enough to do their job correctly...
Went to this hospital because of lower back pain and bleeding 2 days after I got a positive pregnancy test. I have not been in to see my OBGYN and was worried. I sat here for 5 hrs, they inserted an IV and just left it taped to my arm and did not use it one time, The Ultrasound tech did not even tell me that there was a heart beat and turned the screen away so I couldnt see the ultrasound, they never gave me any test results back, They told me bleeding would be normal if I had a UTI but never even told me if I had one, Tried giving me a prenatal vitamin on an empty stomach which has always made me very sick, Came in and took the IV out and told me I was overdue for a tetnus shot and sent me home with a vitamin, not mentioning anything about the baby or any lab results! When I asked how far along I was they told me they did not know. When I asked for a first Ultrasound picture since this was my first one they told me there was nothing to see, the baby looks like a blob right now. This hospital is very careless about patients and I would not recommend this place to anyone! Go to North side or St. Elizabeths. I also asked about my test results and they said they have no information and to check online in 2 days.
I went in this morning for an AV fistula creation, and when I tell you PAM was the most incredible nurse I’ve ever had, it’s almost an understatement. She was phenomenal. From a great personality, to amazing bedside manor, and everything in between. Thank you for being awesome!! Enjoy your retirement ❤️
Go somewhere else for mental health services.ER does not communicate with patient (or spouses) after admission. Youll sit in a room and listen to chat he nurses talk about the patients in open air.Patients are Dr for only few minutes, and in that time are pressured about medication changes at threat of extended stay.Patients visitation hours are listed with separate times depending on the sign you read.Patients are locked in, no fresh air, only common space. Quiet patients are threatened with longer stays if they dont mingle.Drs do not communicate with primary physicians.Drs do not communicate with spouses or support family members on a care plan.
I try to stay away from the ER at this hospital because of past bad experiences but I was very dizzy and I thought what could go wrong. Well, I needed something called an Epley manuever and they send in a young intern. I asked him if he knew what he was doing and he said yes. Its such a simple movement it never occurred to me I would get hurt but I did. He pushed my back and neck to the far right to far over the table and held it down and my neck cracked all across the back of my neck and I told him so but he continued to hold my head down. I also had severe pain in my back. I told everyone I saw how much pain I was in but all they did was look at me. Next thing I knew the RN brought a wheelchair in and they released me. I even told this RN in the hallway by the exit doors how much pain I was in, but again no response. I found out I had a fractured spine in my neck and back and now waiting on surgery. None of this should have ever happened to me. I say if you can stay away from this horrible ER if you can. They dont oversee these interns and if you go to get the report, it says nothing about my pain or the interns name. When I went to get an attorney, Im told I have no proof. My life is altered forever and I can only pray these spine surgeries come out ok. If I could give this ER a minus 0 I would.
What an amazing hospital! Had a medical procedure at surgical department yesterday. The entire surgical staff ( from registering to post-op) was highly professional and extremely friendly. Facility is more like visiting a 5 star spa resort then a hospital with modern decor and exceptional cleanliness! I would trust and recommend St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital to all my family and friends.
Anyone who is self pay without insurance please read. Yes this hospital offers discounts but the prices are sky high for procedures of a health screening nature. Even diagnostic tests are ridiculously priced. No wonder they posted a Hugh profit in their last fiscal report. Here is an example. As a self pay patient I was quoted $10,960.00 for a colonoscopy with endoscopy. After non insured discount they still wanted me to pay half ($3,300) in full of the remaining $6500 balance before I could even register for the procedures. In contrast, Southwoods surgical hospital quoted for the same procedures, same doctor only $925.Where do you think I went for my tests. Southwoods staff and medical personnel were fantastic!Another example. My teen son split his eyebrow open skating requiring 3 stitches. Unfortunately the ER was the only facility open. They charged a whopping $1314 for 3 stitches. After discounts we ended up paying $662. If we can avoid Mercy Health in the future we surely will without a doubt.
I will never ever use this facility again! My son was seen for a football injury. The doctor took an x-ray to check for a ligament tear. My husband questioned why an x-ray since they show bones. The doctor stated that they would be able to see a ligament injury. We followed up with our doctor and he ordered an MRI. It showed a ligament tear. Bad service is one thing, but bad medicine is another.
There have been people in the emergency lobby waiting for over 11 hours and I have been waiting with my wife for 7:30 I should have made the 40 minute drive home to get her care I know I would not like to be sitting in pain like these 30+ people here just waiting to even get in to see a Doctor
Sister was in a bad accident and rushed to emergency. We waited in waiting room for hours, then I went to desk to see if I could get some info and clerk litterally rolled her eyes and said she had no idea. Then some phscopath cop yelled at us to leave the desk area. So we went back to the waiting area where the walls were litterally stained and trash was everywhere and waited another 2 hours. Then we seen a phone in the hall and called another desk and finally got a doctor to keep the family informed.
Worst ER ever! The doctors dont know what theyre doing, and the nurses will yell at you for no good reason at all. They cant even get a vein when drawing blood and will keep poking you leaving bruises all over. Then if you disagree theyll throw a cop in your room. Please dont waste your time, or possibly end up being injured even more. Go immediately downtown!
The staff in the back of the Er are kind an sweet. (The women who took her vitals before we went in the back was rude) It took an hr or more for anything to be done. I don’t have really anything bad to say besides we were put in a room with 4 other people that only had a curtain to separate us. It’s clean so that was a plus!
To begin with I brought my son to er for a infection in his foot on Monday at 3:30 we sat in there for 6 hours in waiting room then he got put in a hallway n finally admitted at 8:30. Now Wednesday n they just decided to take him for surgery at noon, so he cant eat anything, now surgery not till 6 pm!! No food 24 hours so Im asking the nurse why, the rn named MARY LYNN on the 5th floor acts like a b*tch and talks down to people no bedside manner and no compassion, doesnt she understand that no one wants to be in this place. And be starving and thirsty!!! She was very disrespectful of my families feelings. You should require your nurses and doctors to take a class in compassion, we will not come back to this hospital. Downtown st Elizabeths is a much nicer hospital.
This place has turned into a complete joke . Girlfriend went in not feeling good , test showed a uti with a infection into the kidneys . They preceded to give her medicine that she had a reaction too. Instead of keeping her there to observe they said there was nothing they can do and sent her home . She was so .miserable all night long because of reaction she had. The nurse that was giving ekg talked on her cell phone the whole time she was in the room . She left the hospital worse than she went in .
Lets put it this way! This place need help before someone truly gets hurt! They suck! I went in for severe sinus infection and had a CAT scan done. A few days later my family doctor calls and was concerned how I was and what had happened because they got a report from this hospital that I had a C7 fracture of my neck🤔! Um YEA I DID 20 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!! REALLY?? Truly worse hospital systems in the area!
No stars actually. My daughter went to the ER with shortness of breath and numbness in her hands. She has POTS SYNDROME and stated that. They wrote it off as anxiety, gave her lorazepam and sent her home. She doesnt even remember getting home and had her clothes on backwards...good way to kill someone. THANK GOD SHE MADE IT HOME SAFE
I had my son at this hospital 16 months ago via c section. They talked to me made me feel very comfortable and not scared .recovery was also the best .they treat you like your there own .Im very blessed and happy till this day ....hands down I reccomend this hospital for birth .
I feel bad for anyone who comes to this place. Whether it be a patient or worker. Mostly everyone from management to regular staff takes shortcuts and it’s the filthiest place I’ve ever been in. Managers only care about scores and sadly, that brings morale down so nobody Wanda to give their best. OSHA should really investigate this location.
I had a surgery there. I remember looking at blood on the ceiling of the surgery room!! I sat in the Preop area for 3 hours, a totally racially charged environment. I was embarrassed as a white female. No wonder there are no black nurses in that department. St Elizabeth should try to be more culturally sensitive
This is her Significant other posting this. Very upset I could not attend seeing my CHILD BEING BIRTHED. Also want to state the fact I can’t see my child days after her birth. For the fact of nothing. If masks aren’t required outside why can’t I even be inside ? Makes 0 sense to me.
I recently went there to er with flu. I just want to say everyone was so nice and very attentive and helpful. I mean everyone from the front door, the nurse, registration, the respiratory guy, the pa. That means a lot when you arent feeling good and you are treated so well.
******NEGATIVE ZERO FOR CLEANLINESS *****Apparently someone missed the “clean hands are safe hands “memo”. We’ve been here for two days! The smaller can is located in the entryway, the other as soon as you walk in the hospital!! Not only are they EMPTY and have been since my husband was admitted !They are also absolutely FILTY DIRTY!!Pictures to follow
If 0 stars was possible I would give it. No children in labor in delivery overnight so if you go into labor and have no one to pick your kids up they tell you we would force someone to come dont know exactly what that means. Policymakers need a wake up call anyone who wants to file a discriminatory lawsuit should follow.
I have to say we are very happy with St. Elizabeth Boardman and the whole care team from the 6th floor for Daddy. They have all made this life transition much, and I hesitate to say easier in this situation, but it still rings true. They’ve been nothing but kind and compassionate. Thank you from all of us. The Richard Lowe family.
I had to go here last year because of my kidney infection and I was very sick. I couldnt even lift my head I was so weak and this very rude lady comes into my room talking about my bill...lady Im very sick can this wait? Can you mail it which they did anyway...i wasnt happy then I was stressed out while I was very sick.
Its filthy here. As I sit here Im staring at a used band aid someone placed on the hand sanitizer wall mount. And the hand sanitizer wall mounted dispenser is filthy. Patient chair Im sitting is filthy. And I watched the staff in charge of cleaning these rooms pull down a sheet of paper of the chair and walk out without wiping any part of the chairs off!! No wonder why this is the staff infection capital of the Youngstown area. Feel free to look at my pictures I posted here on Google.
Its a shame that there are only 2 hospitals in the area and they both suck. All of the staff is rude and non informative. Never listened to what i said then accused me of saying things i never said. Will not be going back. I will travel extra mile to different county for care from now on.
My 3 year old had to be there by 6 a.m. for surgery we ended up waiting so long to check in that the doctor called and asked where we were... when she called I was in the waiting room waiting to check in for his surgery and they lady told me that I had the wrong one and sat there and ignorantly chatted with the other lady working very unprofessional, very rude
Dont waste your time going here for anything specially if your dieing this place is a joke literally waited in waiting area for 4 an a half hours in waiting area still didnt get into to see the doctor I could have drove to Cleveland clinic or Pittsburgh an got seen quicker
Why do they not have a portable MRI machine had to put my whole body in to do my left arm I was very uncomfortable the whole time I had to lay a certain way and pain in my arm was awful told the tech 3 times all he said is if I cant do it I would have to come back also the woman at the welcome desk could not find anyone to take me out in a wheel car to my car I simply dont valet my car and usually no problem but I was dizzy and needed the help she was rude and un professional
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE HIRE MORE PEOPLE. ITS RIDICULOUS THE SITUATIONS YOUR PUTTING FAMILY MEMBERS IN FOR NOT HAVE EMPLOYEES.. INSURANCES AND PREMIUMS OUT OF POCKET ARE EXTREMELY HIGH AND HOSPITAL IS FULL. THAT MORE EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE ON FLOOR. IF NOT GET THE SALARIED EMPLOYEES OUT OF THERE OFFICE AND HELP. WE PAY FOR SERVICES NOT FOR FAMILY MEMBERS TO DO 24/7 CARE WHILE IN THE HOSPITAL. WE ARE THERE FOR THE PATIENT NOT TO DO THE HOSPITALS RESPONSIBILITIES..YOUR MEDICATING PATIENTS SO YOU DONT HIRE. SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THIS.. THE NURSES ARE RUNNING AROUND AND CANT FOCUS OR EVEN HAVE THE TIME TO TALK TO FAMILY ABOUT WHAT IS WRONG OR GOING ON WITH PATIENT. THEY ARE IN AND OUT OF THE ROOM.. THEY SAID YOUR HIRING BED SITTERS? I GOT ON YOUR SITE NOTHING IS POSTED? YOUR USING CAMERAS THAT SOMEONE IS MONITORING ALONG WITH 8 OTHER ROOMS.. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN MERCY HEALTH -ST ELIZABETH THESE LAST 6 MONTHS. 1-10 RATING I GIVE YOU A 1..

2022-05-27My fiancé and I had both of our children delivered at this hospital. Each time there have not been enough words to describe our sincere appreciation of the staff. They are truly dedicated to being as supportive and kind as can be. Absolute angels. And to the girl who asked for my phone in the OR and took our first pictures for us we are forever grateful!

2022-05-13If I could rate 0 stars I would. This hospital’s emergency room allowed a 60 year old woman with an existing heart condition, who had trouble trouble breathing, walking, was shaking, and having chest pains to wait in the lobby for over an hour. The claim was they had no rooms available, but in a situation like that send someone out to the waiting rooms. It wasn’t until I started asking loudly what would happen if a woman in a situation like hers would die in their waiting rooms that she even got a room.Further insult was that a nurse wasn’t seen in that room for almost another hour. It was four hours until she received any medication, and the 1 minute conversation with the female ER doctor was a joke. She basically did all the talking without letting the patient provide much input and then left to never be seen again. It’s currents over 7 hours later with no test results back, and maybe once every 2 hours a nurse stops in to say the doctor will see you when they see you.Oh and then there was the check in lady who when asked for water for the patient told me to use the vending machine or go to the cafeteria on the second floor. Way to try to profit on water in the hospital.I’ve also reached out by phone twice to talk to someone in charge of the ER. The first time they let the phone ring for 2 minutes, picked up, then hung up. The second time I got through to the charge nurse who advised me they are very busy and no one above her is available to talk.May 12th 2022. Admitted at 1:04 and hasn’t gotten any real help in almost 7 1/2 hours. My advice is that if you have a heart condition, want to be treated like a human, and you know… want a chance of surviving a serious illness or injury to seek treatment elsewhere. This hospital is understaffed and doesn’t care if their patients live or die.

2022-05-26Unfortunately it was the worst hospital stay I have had so far. There were no gifts for me and baby given. No sparkling grape juice. They wanted to charge us $8 for a meal for the babys father. If I was asleep, they took my food. They were very cheap when it came to the cafeteria food. Youngstown was the total opposite in 2011. This is a Catholic hospital and they do not preform pregnancy prevention surgeries. I left there unsatisfied in comparison to my other 3 child births at Youngstown location.

2022-05-08If youre experiencing any kind of pain or have an actual problem just save your money and go somewhere else. The experience I just had there was miserable. I went there for chest pain jaw pain and pain after two vaccines. The nurses were nice but the doctor dismissed my problem and released me without a clear answer on why I was feeling the way I am. I went in mostly because of the jaw pain (my jaw hurts incredibly bad) and they refuse to look at my jaw.. I was there for 2 hours and they stuck me in a corner and forgot about me.. they never gave me a call button and put an IV in my arm attached to the ceiling and left me there. I had to use the bathroom but was attached by the IV drip so I had to stand in the hallway way for 15mins trying to get some one to come help me so I could go to the bathroom. Several nurses walked buy and ignored me standing there asking for help. Then they released me without any answers or any thing to help my pain. And after everything I had a $200 bill for absolutely nothing. I thought hospitals were supposed to help people but all they did was let me sit and charge me for it. Also my vein collapsed so I had to get two IVs put in... It was awful. You really are just a number and a paycheck for these people. Its so sad. AND IM STILL IN A TON OF PAIN!! Ken Fox is a terrible doctor for ignoring me problems and only looking out for his paycheck.

2022-02-13If you dont die from your emergency that you went in with, youll die of starvation from the time youll wait for literally anything to happen. Went in for 3 stitches. Took 6 and a half hours. The room we were in could have been used for some of the actual emergencies that probably waited every bit of the 6 hours in the waiting room. Had to ask multiple times to just please be discharged.

2022-03-30Went in for kidney stones and in a good amount of pain, my wait was 3 hours in the waiting room on a Tuesday starting about 8:45pm, they were pretty busy. compared to downtown you did not see anyone slacking or sitting around a group chat.nurses and doctors were very attentive and compassionate even though they were busy as they were, thats not easy.

2022-03-26I recently had a c section at st Elizabeth’s in boardman and can not believe how good the care is there. All of my nurses were so attentive and helpful! Especially since I was nervous, they basically held my hand during the whole procedure making sure not only I was okay but my son and my family. Strongly suggest coming here for any procedures/ check ups

2022-05-15Went to their Emergency room Sat. Everyone was real nice. Spent the night on the 6th. floor. My nurse was just great. Had a great nurse Sunday, too. Tomeeka was not only compassionate but kind ,too. Thanks so much. I also have to say the housekeeper for my room Kaitlyn was a great young lady. I mean who takes time out of their busy day to talk alittle to an old lady. Also to Dr. Sheik thanks for being so understanding.

2022-06-12You are lucky if you come out of this hospital alive. The staff are very unfriendly and you can constantly hear moaning and groaning in the background, like someone is going to die any minute. This is the worst hospital Ive ever been too. Your better off driving to UPMC in Pittsburgh, where you will seek way better service, versus having to deal with this horrible hospital with long wait times and unfriendly nurses and doctors.

2022-03-30Whatever you do, Do Not go to this facility! The Entire staff, including the doctors, are incompetent, ignorant, rude and uncaring! My son was brought in by ambulance with difficulty breathing and the staff left him alone for over a half an hour without attending to him, helping him or even checking on him! Then even after Finally checking on him they acted as if he were lying and treated him like an unimportant person and a disturbance of their time on social media or playing their games! Pathetic, right!? So, for the sake of your health, your well-being and your time, Please AVOID this so called hospital at all costs!! God bless you all
