Melt Bar & Grilled in other cities:
This place exceeded the unbelievably high expectations I had for it. We went there on a family vacation and everyone loved everything about it. The arcade is perfect for entertaining kids until the food arrives. Everything we ordered was amazing the portions were huge. Our waiter was great and the staff were all very friendly. I wish this chain would expand to Virginia!
Great presentation of food. Everything looks great but the restaurant had maybe 3 other tables with other patrons and it took at least 45-60 min to get our food. We only ordered a sandwich, side salad and a Buffalo Mac and Cheese. I liked the sandwich but we also ordered the salad with balsamic on the side and it was on the salad A LOT. The Mac and cheese is huge. 3 people could share it. Too much blue cheese on the Mac. For some reason I thought it’d be on the side line real wings. If the wait wasn’t so long for 2 simple items one star more but the food is average. It does look great though!
Stopped in on the way through town and glad we did. The menu can be a bit hard to navigate, but the food quality and service were outstanding. Lots of interesting flavor options and plenty of monthly specials. Will definitely stop again and I recommend you try. The price is high, but the overall experience was worth it to me.
Grilled cheese was soggy due to the type of boxes they pack them in for takeout. I recommend dining in to avoid getting soggy bread. $18 for chicken tenders which appeared to just be full size chicken breast cut in half deep fried. Tried this place years ago, figured we would give it another shot. Not a fan.
I used to frequent this Melt location and loved it, the food, and staff. Sadly, I came in today for a quick bite before attending an appointment and was very disappointed. It took the hostess a number of minutes (5ish) to greet me even though I could see her clearly chatting to someone in the kitchen. There were hardly any patrons, I might add. After greeting me I sat down at a table and was never noticed again. After 10 minutes I bade her a good evening and left. She did not question why I left abruptly at all. In addition, there were 2 other parties that came in after me. One was a pickup the other sat the bar and was promptly waited on.
This restaurant is a joke, the reason behind this is that the food quality and staff friendliness is absolutely mediocre. I ordered the melt Pierogies for a starter, when I received them there was so much oil that it filled the bowl half way. They also used a rye bread or everything bagel seasoning and it tasted off. I asked the server for more sour cream due to the fact that on my Pierogies only had a tea spoon amount of sour cream. He said ok and brought it out. What I didn’t know is that they charge for everything, that includes extra sauce or condiments. If I known that I wouldn’t of asked for the sour cream, I didn’t realize they charged for it till my bill. For my entrée I ordered the Cleveland cheese steak, when I received it it looked pretty good however when I picked up my sandwich it was soggy and greasy. I’ve gotten the kettle chips for a side due to they only offer three sides for free is what my server said and if I wanted something different I had to pay a up charge. When I ate one of the chips it tasted like a burnt lays rippled chip. For dessert I gotten the cookies and cream bread pudding, I love bread pudding however what I was served was far from bread pudding. When I received it, it looked very delicious however it was not. When I took a bite of the bread pudding it was a hard dense bread with no flavor no pudding, and it tasted burnt I almost puked when I ate it. My husband pointed out on the other side of the dish under a bunch of whip cream was a small glob of vanilla pudding. So what they did was put a hard spongy dense bread cake thing and a side of pudding, and called it bread pudding. I told the manager bought it and she said yea that’s how they make it I’ll take it off the bill. When I gotten the bill I then noticed the sour cream and told the manager if I would of known it was a extra charge I wouldn’t of gotten it. She said once again yea they charge for every sauce or extra condiments and took it off the bill. At this point I’m like who’s they? My husbands meal was not any better. I do not recommend eating here or spending any kind of money. I now know why there was hardly any Customers. Do your self a favor and steer clear of this restaurant.
Food is tasty but dont go if you are looking for healthy or light options. My favorite if the Korean War Pig, but be sure to check out the monthly specials.I dont think the service or kitchen is back after Covid. If you go Friday or Saturday nights it can take 45 - 60 minutes to get your meal, after waiting 30+ for a table.
I hate to post negative reviews but I feel it is important that I contribute about our experience. We were not warmly treated on a Sunday about 5pm. Once directed to a table it took about 10 minutes to get a server over. We ordered drinks, they came out wrong. We ordered food, it was cold. It took 20 minutes after asking for the check to get it and leave. We didnt even ask for boxes because we didnt enjoy anything we ate. I think its a cool concept, and maybe this was a one off experience, but we wont be returning to find out.
I was in Cleveland from Virginia, for a graduation and Melt was so good, we ate there twice to try different sandwiches. It was great to be asked, upon entering, which menu we wanted - regular, vegan or gluten free. Fun Decor, Incredible Food (Mac and Cheese Bites are decadently delicious, Purple Parma was a great eggplant sandwich). A great dining experience!
Wow. My mom and I were looking for something local and not a chain while driving through the area while in Ohio. A quick google search, and we found Melt. The wall art, which I included a photo of, is clever and plasters every wall. They have movie tie in sandwiches available- my sandwich was the bushwood club. I also took a photo of the menu which was also clever. The food was amazing. The service was great. The atmosphere was cool and entertaining. The only downside was the temperature, which my mom classified as too cold. In the restaurants’ defense, it’s a pretty common complaint. I think it was a little chilly, but it was quite hot out, so maybe the a/c was working overtime.Still, we are both looking forward to going back. Totally worth the trip.
Nice place, neat decor, service was really good nice and polite too, Little pricey for the size of the sandwiches but nice amount of fries though, Little expensive($3.00) for a side salad instead of fries, Taste good so I guess you are paying for the taste, Will go back again someday
The food was amazingly delicious. We were greeted at the door by our hostess and quickly greeted at our table by Josh our server. We requested a table close to the restroom as I am disabled. They responded with kindness which I appreciate. We got our drinks and ordered from a very large menu. We ordered what we liked and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was quiet. We came on Saturday afternoon. $$-$$$.
I had the vegan Wet Hot Buffalo Sandwich with a side of vegan mac n cheese. Sandwich was great. Cheese sauce was great too. Hard to believe it was dairy free. Three others ordered from the regular menu and they were all happy with theirs. Thanks for offering great choices for different tastes.
I love Melt, and my experiences at their other restaurants has always been incredible, but this was a very disappointing experience. Not sure if it was the location or just the staffing issues. First off, the hostess and waitress were fantastic. But the food? Really not good. My wife and I each got the summer chicken, and the chicken was incredibly dry and flavorless. Thats basically the opposite of a normal Melt experience. And the fries were soft, flaccid, kinda blah. Melt usually has fantastic fries. To top it off, we waited a very long time for the food. We were warned that would be the case when we came in, but we were willing to wait because we love Melts food. So to wait that long and get bad food was very disappointing.
Melt Bar & Grilled is an American style food restaurant chain in Ohio. It is a business with a keen sense of humor. Note the word GRILLED in the chains name and not simply grill. You can tell by the pictures and videos attached the decor is whimsical and unique.I recently had lunch at the Mentor, Ohio, location. Melt Bar & Grilled is located at the east end of the Points East Shopping Center. Points East Shopping Center is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Mentor Road (US 20) and Reynolds Road/Broadmoor Road (State Route 306). Reynolds Roads runs north from the intersection and Broadmoor Road runs south from the intersection. There is plenty of free off-street parking at the Points East Shopping Center. The Melt Bar & Grilled has a long bar along the northside of the restaurant. There are a number of socially distanced tables in the center and southside of the restaurant. The southside has many windows overlooking a covered outdoor dining area. The primary entrance is on west end of the restaurant with a hostess station and a large waiting area with benches. The southeast corner of the dining room are where the restrooms are located. The remainder of the east side of the dining room is where the kitchen is located.I started my meal with the bowl of French Onion Soup. The soup broth has a great depth of flavor and is loaded with plenty of onions. The bread on top of the broth is thick and covered with a tasty melted cheese. YUMMY! Their sandwiches are so thick you can order a full sandwich or a half a sandwich. I ordered and enjoyed a half order of the Lake Erie Monster with a side of sweet slaw - a vinegar based slaw. The menu description of the Lake Erie Monster is a crispy panko crusted jumbo Cod fillet topped with creamy slaw and American cheese with a side of jalapeño tarter sauce. A pickle slice is also served on the plate. The sandwich is very tasty and loaded with creamy slaw and a thick slice of American cheese. The only negative observation is the tasty fillet of Cod is not jumbo sized. The Cod is very tasty. The coleslaw is thicker than breaded Cod fillet. The staff is friendly and attentive. Jennifer is my server. Very helpful. She has worked at the Mentor Melt Bar & Grilled since it opened ten years ago. She looks forward to eating here too. The menu has the option to build-your-own sandwich with an extensive list of items to select from. The restaurant and the Mens room are clean. My lunch was shortly after Melt Bar & Grill opened for the day. Besides myself, there are a couple and a pair of ladies dining-in. While I was enjoying my lunch, several folks came in for take-out. They had ordered ahead and their take-out orders are ready when they arrived. There are so many menu items plus the build-your-own option, I will return to the Mentor Melt Bar & Grilled. The food and sauces a very good tasting with great flavor.
Youll never have to worry about eating the same thing twice! Amazing sandwich that focuses on total comfort food! Great atmosphere. Awesome service! Weve never had a sandwich we were disappointed in & I try to order a different sandwich each visit. Im usually very happy with the monthly special, which helps each time a unique visit! August they have a, Up in Smoke, which is awesome! Tastes like a summer picnic all grilled into a sandwich! (Picture of it in my review for 8-4-18)
Been coming to melt since their start in Cleveland. Living in Ashtabula county I’m happy this location opened up. Love the variety they’ve added to the menu. Classics are still there and better than ever. Being kid friendly is a plus. Kids love the food on the kids menu.
First time trying this place out, and I was disappointed. I was excited that they offered a vegan menu, but what I ordered wasnt worth $12. I got a half vegan cheese sandwich, an order of stale fries, and a side salad. I wont be returning because the worst experience for me is to order takeout that doesnt taste fresh. Yuck!
Pretty good, very filling. I love the fries.drinks are decent. Service is always wonderful. This time my boyfriend got the Cuban war pig sandwich and he always loves that. I got the Korean war pig. It was ok. I wont be getting it another time though. The only thing I loved about it was that the meat was so tender and juicy. But the flavor was very bland.
Wasnt as good as the Cleveland location we went to a few years ago but still very good. I had the Monty Cristo and it was great but I remembered the Cleveland restaurant having more meat in the sandwich. The Mac salad was also very good. You have to try the melt when you get the chance.
First time ordering from Melt Bar & Grilled. $15 for this? I definitely do not think I got my monies worth. Food was “meh, ok”. I was looking forward to this but only ended up disappointed. Had it delivered but may be willing to give them another try by eating in instead.
It took an hour to get our food, but they warned us ahead so thats not a problem.I was told the grilled cheese was big before thats why i was excited to try it. While it tasted great it reminded me of the grilled cheese i used to get at steak n shake and wasnt too special. For the price i thought it would have been bigger.Overall it was an okay experience though
Wasnt a big fan. They said it was going to be a wait because they were backed up. Thats fine, I get it. The service industry is getting hit. But what I dont like is how bad the food was. The taste wasnt rotten or anything. But the food I got was lackluster. The spinach and artichoke dip was horrible and they gave me a 3 dollar serving when it was 9 dollars. The drinks were ehhh. Just dont recommend this location. The service was alright. But this location was a let down. I like Melt but thus location was just not it. This location was more of a dive bar than other locations.
They were short staffed so I wont to complain about the wait, or how long it took toget our food....but nothing was hot. Our appetizer was cold. The sandwiches were warm. And they were very skimpy! I orders Moms meatloaf sandwich and the meatloaf was less than ½ thick. Very pricey for what we got! Took ½ of the sandwich home and its still in the fridge. Not worth reheating.
This place is amazing! I walked in and was very pleased with the aesthetic, the decor is fantastic. I tried their vegan chicken bacon ranch mac and cheese. It was so nice to have a break from a lot of the plain, limited vegan options in the area. This was definitely some gourmet food! If Im ever in the area again, Ill be sure to stop and try more of their menu!
Loosing their touch. Once upon a time you could wait a half hour or more for a table, now we were seated immediately, but waited a complete hour for our food with no real explanation as we waited, no checking in from the server, no water refills. My grilled cheese was tough around the edges and tomato soup was not up to par. My husbands sandwich was fine but the coleslaw seemed off. Melt, you used to be great! Very disappointing, thus why we didnt have to wait for a table I guess.
Use to love this place. My wife is part of the tattoo club. Had a bad experience 8 months ago. It took a hour to get food and came out cold. Figured it was a one off, but after waiting 50mins and still no food last night. We left and I realized why the restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night. We went to BJs brewhouse earlier that day for lunch, it was packed and service was quick. Bad ending for a long trip from Erie. As a somewhat regular from Erie, we are in no rush to come back. So sad.
Coming from MA, I heard all about this place and was excited to have dinner there with my parents. To my surprise we walked in and stood waiting for a host for 5 minutes while the girl at the desk was on the phone. A woman who walked from the kitchen towards us smiled as though she was greeting us, but then she waved to her coworker behind us absolutely ignoring us as she continued a conversation with her instead of greeting us. If they are going to treat their customers like this in the beginning then I could only imagine the service we would receive if we stayed to order food. Therefore we left for a place that would be more welcoming to their customers.Sorry this place is not customer friendly.
While food was good (gluten free; dairy free), the staff does not know how to communicate! I understand Im going to a restaurant on a Saturday evening, but to get there at 6:05 and not have food until 8:10pm is horrible. COVID cannot be the default! Worst of all, our server accused me of not paying our bill! Never in my life! I never ran so fast almost onto their kitchen and puff, his mistake. He couldnt see/find the crisp $100 bill as he said it was all bunched up... did I just catch someone about to steal and going to blame the customer???I will never go back there!
We took carry out at Melt today. We were promised our food at 5:57. When we went in to pick up the food we waited 20 minutes. By the time we got it, the food was old and disgusting. The bread was hard and the meat on the hot Italian was hard around the edges. This was not a good experience. Bad food, long wait. I dont recommend this restaurant and we dont care to go back.
The food isnt bad, but the wait times are atrocious, somewhere around 1h and 20 mins after ordering to get our food, for 2 people. For sandwiches and fries thats insane, they need to hire help in the kitchen asap. Spent almost 2 hours head to toe on a Saturday night, not by choice... Wait staff arent gonna make money on those table times.
Took about 1.5 hours for them to make the food, then when we did get it finally it was probably the most disgusting excuse for a sandwich Ive ever seen. I took 1 bite and threw away my 16 dollar sandwich as did my wife. TRASH ,I recommend just making a grilled cheese at home so you wont be disappointed like me.
Food was excellent. A perfect mix of unique comfort food to fill your belly. Their take on a margarita was great! We dined on a Monday during dinner rush and the service was a little lack luster. Needed one or two more servers to handle the rush but everyone was kind and checked in when they could.
Called for take out order on a Tuesday night….told 1 hour wait time….order ended up taking almost 2 hours for pickup. FOR TWO SANDWICHES…Restaurant was half full. Hostess didn’t give two cares. The Uber drivers coming into restaurant told me they were always this bad.Literally sat in parking lot with an infant being told should only be a few more minutes. Yea right. Totally understand understaffed situations right now, but you could at least pretend to care. Food was average at best when it did arrive
Im a little sad to write this review. When I first visited Melt in Cleveland Heights many years ago, the food was amazing; proper temperature, grilled/fried just right for a grilled sandwich. Not so for this visit. Fries soggy, Monte Cristo sandwich over cooked yet a bit cold, and the wait for the food longer than expected. Cmon folks... Get back to what made you great.
My wife and I went for lunch, and were asked to wait in our car, 35 min wait. After over an hour I went back in to ask about our table we noticed some people were being seated immediately so we left hungry and annoyed after driving and waiting for about three hours. Very weak! I would give less than zero stars because we received less then zero service!!
I dined with a group of 10 and the food and service were truly amazing! Lillian was our server and the superior quality of service that we received is so rare. Our dining experience was so enjoyable. We ordered a plethora of entrees along with the bread pudding, all of which were absolutely delectible! I highly recommend this restaurant and Lillian is amazing!
Melt isnt what it used to be. Over the years Ive slowly noticed repeat decisions to cheapen ingredients on sandwiches, move away from fresh fries, make pickles request only, etc to increase margin after they hit the price ceiling for what anyone would reasonable pay for a sandwich. Unfortunately Melt is no longer a restaurant I plan to go back to and no longer a restaurant I feel I should recommend to out-of-towners coming to Cleveland. Last two underwhelming/disheartening experiences have been at the Mentor location. Really want to believe this is a location only issue in Mentor so leaving the review there.
Tried to go here for Xmas in July. What a joke. Gave them my name even though there were only 5 full tables in the place and was told it would be 35 min and to go wait in my car. After almost an hour trying to be patient since everyone is short staffed we went in to go check on the wait and was told our names just disappeared off the list. The girls at the counter were more interested in finding out what happened so after 10 more minutes of just standing there while they stared at an iPad we just walked out. Ill just go home and make my own blt and xmas ale.
Such an all around great experience! The atmosphere is so fun and airy! The service was excellent. The portions are massive and the quality of food is fantastic! I recommend the grilled cheese that has the deep fried mac and cheese wedge on it, the fresh cut fries and the tomato soup! We will definitely be going back!
My husband and I took our 1.5 year old to the Mentor location for dinner. The restaurant was busy and our wait was longer than expected. There were several large parties and it appeared that they were short staffed for the crowd that was there. The staff was very nice and apologetic. They went out of their way to give us goldfish while waited. Once we were seated, the staff was quick to come to our table to get us drinks and offered to put in an appetizer/our daughter’s order right away. For anyone who has gone out to eat with a toddler, they know at any point there could be a tantrum. We were so appreciative of the service and how the staff anticipated our needs. I cannot compliment them enough. The food was excellent as always.
Loved the restaurant. Very creative decor and friendly staff. Food was yummy and large portion size that is if you ordered a whole versus a half meal. Prices were decent, for my family of 6, my bill was around 65 bucks. If you are a health maniac then melt is not for you in my opinion. Great food though
Friday June 26th around 9 o clock. I made a pick up order , first I saw spider webs all over the front door !! They need to keep this area clean because thats the first impression for the customers. The hostess was EXTREMELY RUDE !! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE what so ever. She was so mean not only to me but to others who were there to pick up door dash too. If u dont like your job then stay home dont ruin someone evening with your bad attitude . Unacceptably rude !
Great beer selection and the mixed drinks are unique. Menu with so many good things you would have a hard time hitting every item (but you want to). Amazing vegan options! Very surprising for a cheese based restaurant, but great vegan selection. Also, the spicy chicken sandwich they have this August is to die for.
Waited 45 minutes for food and tried to cancel our order so we could make our appointment. Staff was sluggish and Lawrence was an absentee manager. After our server told us to order another round because there are so many to-go orders in front of you, we were forced to pay in advance for the food we didnt receive on the promise that it would be ready in 4 minutes. Waited 15 and nobody visited the table, ended up leaving without our food or seeing anyone. After our appointment, we called the store to get our food and were told that a manager would call us back after the rush? This is what happens when managers let the staff speak for them. When I pushed harder I was put on hold for 10 minutes before Lawrence took our order and got the food started. We came back, waited 20 minutes for disappointing food and never even got a visit from management.Businesses everywhere are trying to get by after Covid, ESPECIALLY restaurants, but consumers deserve better than the experience that I received today. Please do better.
Melt used to be so amazing. Think of the best grilled cheese you ever had and it was right around that level. Don’t know what changed but the food is now meh at best. Can’t even stomach the Mac and cheese. Consistency is gummy and flavor of the cheese is like bad velveeta. Made me feel nauseous. We tried two times in the last two years at two different locations and felt the same. Won’t be going back.
Stop today to try this place the food was not good at all, very hard potatoes with little flavor, fries cold, french onion soup was basically a bowl of onions with no broth stale bread but the cheese tasted good. cold chicken would not recommend to anyone to eat there greasy food poorly cooked the only part we did enjoy was the server was good.
Little pricey, too be expected. But we recently visited two of them, one in Canton, and one in Mentor. There is zero consistency between the two places.. portions are way off. I definitely would be going back to the Canton one for the price you pay you get way more food. Otherwise everything seemed very clean the service was very good it was an overall good experience both times
The food itself is absolutely god-tier. The problem though is that the last two times (over the course of a year or so), the order was messed up or straight up missing items. This isnt a shift thing or a staff thing, this is a consistent incompetence in the takeout system. Dining-in is fine because you can just tell them they forgot something but its ridiculous how we have to bank on them forgetting something now.
First and foremost - AMAZING SERVICE STAFF.However, the kitchen, thats a different story. Disappointed in the obvious cut backs of quality of food and lack of care with preparation. Tofu wings were overbreaded and undercooked. Chicken on a WARM GRILLED CHEESE was ice cold. Matt Fish needs to STOP EXPANDING and pay attention to the dismissing quality of his serving stores (while theyre still around). And again, the service staff couldnt have been more kind and understanding and assured us our concerns were not nit picking. The kitchen did redeem themselves on the refire.... but still..... I can see why the place was close to empty.
As advertised! This place is dripping with soft, gooey, cheesy goodness. The portions have always been huge so they sell half sandwiches but I enjoy planning to take the other half home for late. Go for it and eat the whole thing if you want to feel stuffed like Thanksgiving Day.
Great place to eat! Two could eat for the meal of one! Friendly service! Felt like we knew our server for years and just met the guy to find out later he was just the bartender filling in to help with tables! Wonderful food. Mouth watering, great recommendations! And speedy service, cups were never truly empty and gladly to recommend to anyone even on pricing! Kids friendly too! They were awesome! And very respectful! Great place to eat!
My husband asked me to let my hair down a little and eat in his chosen style of atmosphere and food. I was a bit hesitant because I dont normally eat in those bar like atmospheres unless its just a couple wings n fries. However Im sooo glad we went food was amazing, quality is top notch and the people that work here are so friendly!!
LOVE this place! Very trendy decor and unique menu. Im a vegetarian and its so nice going to a place that has more than a salad for me to eat! They have a ton of Vegan and Vegetarian options, and will customize whatever you want! The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars is because theyre a little pricey.
I hate giving sub par reviews. Very first time going and dont want to give it another shot. The interior was great. Awesome settings. The staff was very helpful and energetic. I am giving a 3 star review as food was not very appetizing. Meatball sub was lukewarm my chicken parm was over cooked heavily. But man those fries are probably the best Ive ever had. Again I wish I could give a 5 star review as so many have shared. But it was an upsetting first experience.
I ordered take out because I was on a time crunch and it was a little slow going on checking out, but the salad...I think it was the Asian one... was really good and worth the money. I highly recommend getting both dressings and mixing them together, especially if you like spicy!
So disappointed. Ive been to every Melt Location and never had a problem but this one highly dissatisfied myself and my family. We had food delivered and were missing an item. Then, the sandwiches were smaller than usual, and I bought a sandwich for my mom to try and she was very sad and said I wouldnt order from them again. Im giving two stars only because the Mac and cheese Triangles were the best part. But, my best friend, myself, and my mother were not happy about our sandwiches. Ill continue going to other Melt locations, but definitely never this one ever again.
Now that they have chained out from the original location its not as good as it use to be. We have been to original location 2x previously on trips through ohio and it was amazing. Food not so great now very chain like and portions so much smaller. The menus off the album covers and now like a cheesecake factory menu. Expanding is not always the best thing for a unique place with good food.
I love that this Melt is located here. I enjoy the service here much better than the Cleveland Heights location and there is a free large lot for parking. I enjoy the sandwiches and French fries here. I appreciate that most all sandwiches can be made into vegetarian or vegan options. I am a pescatarian and sadly enough I enjoy the vegetarian dishes so much I haven’t tried the fish although it is on the menu, go figure. 🥰🤷🏽♀️. This is a family favorite place for us to dine. I appreciate the decor too, very fun!
First big snow of the season falling outside the big windows made a perfect atmosphere for our first taste of Melts comfort food! Daniel was our helpful and attentive server and the food was every bit as belly pleasing as it looked in the online menu. Portions were big and food was served quickly (and hot!). Home made chips with onion dip were fantastic and the tomato garlic soup was thick and rich. Looking forward to trying all the different sandwich combinations in the coming year.
Went here because I am Vegan and was told Melt bar had many good vegan options. Our group ordered the tofu wings, awesome noodle salad, eggs with tofu bacon and a vegan impossible burger.Service was fine but all food was very mediocre save for the impossible burger, the tofu bacon was not even salted or seasoned and was a depressing attempt. When I hear vegan and vegetarian options, I want to be able to have many healthy choices centered around vegetables, not just a sandwich with meat and cheese substitutes to appease a broader audience.
The food tasted fabulous but I felt ripped off having to pay $3.50 for vegan cheese substitute and$3.50 for gluten free bread. It should have been a swap for regular cheese and bread. They didnt deduct the standard option costs from my meal; just up charged. Where is the ethical fairness in that??
It took us an hour and 15 minutes to get our food after we waited 20 minutes for a table. I had to ask for my chili after about 30 minutes of waiting. When our food finally did come, I then had to go to the bar and ask for silverware because we didnt get that either. I ordered a fish sandwich that was cold because it took so long to get our food. My daughters Mac and cheese was so dried out and hard from sitting under the heating lamp she wouldnt even eat it.As a manager was passing, I explained to her our experience... She looked at us like what do you expect me to do for you. I said this restaurant was recommended to us by numerous people and we will never be back again. We also explained that we had about a 2 hour drive ahead of us to get home so this makes things even more unpleasant with our whole experience (people got seated, ate and left before we even got our food). In the end she said, would you like me to grab your check and a box to speed up getting you out of here up. Took her FOREVER to do those things and when she brought them back she handed us the check and said she took the fish sandwich off since I didnt care for it.... Ummm NO it was COLD!!! DONT EVER GO TO MELT IN MENTOR, OHIO!!!!! ID GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD!!!!
Was so excited to FINALLY go to Melt. Company was great. Service mediocre. Music was loud but enjoyable. I expected a cheese drenched sandwich. It had the 2 slices advertised as well as everything else listed but failed to impress. I ordered fried pickle spears for an appitezier. Extra long time in receiving. The sandwich, Winner Winner chicken dinner did have what was advertised but lacked seasoning and was difficult to eat. The fries were normal. The Melt margarita was fresh and enjoyable even without the listed tequila (they were out on a Saturday lunch). I fully expected a sandwich held together with the cheese since it was MELT. I enjoyed my lunch due to my companion but cant say it was any better than going to Dennys or TGIFS.
We ordered the French onion dip and chips appetizer and the dip wasnt to our liking but by no fault of the chef the dip just wasnt our favorite. Even thought there was nothing wrong with it the manager (i forgot to ask for her name... sorry) still gave it to us for free. The rest of our food was delicious and we had great service from our waiter the whole night. We will be coming back!!!
Love Melt! We visit whenever we’re in the area. Definitely get only a half! These sandwiches are heavy and filling. Don’t be on a diet here...Manager did the right thing and took our appetizer off our bill, even without us saying anything, because it took too long to come out. Great customer service!
Ive always wanted to go to Melt after Guy Fieris visit, and my experience here did not disappoint. This location in Mentor had a great atmosphere and was well decorated. The beer list was very extensive and featured a lot of names unfamiliar to me. The menu, while meat heavy, had veg and gluten-free options and was put together creatively. Without a doubt though, the sandwiches here are some of the best Ive ever had. They were huge, and stuffed with a ton of ingredients, seasonings, and sauces. I definitely got my moneys worth and I was full and happy for a long time after eating. I think Melt has to be one of the best reasons to make a trip to Ohio.
If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Like many, we have been ordering lots of delivery online. The quality of the food from this location has been declining drastically over the past months. Then tonight happened...When placing an order through DoorDash at 7:50pm, they canceled the order after DoorDash verification. We called to confirm if they were closed early and were lied to by someone over the phone and told they were still open till 9pm and were accepting orders and knew nothing about canceled orders. We then placed an order through UberEats for the establishment believing them that it was DoorDashs fault. Our order was placed and accepted at 8:26 pm, confirmed through UberEats. When our driver arrived for the delivery, the establishment initially lied and said they had no order. They then changed their story that they received the order at 8:59 pm and the kitchen was closed. They still have not refunded or canceled the order despite this.
First time ever at Melt Bar & Grilled & after the meal we received, it will be my last! Even though our sandwiches were huge, the homemade meatball sandwich was dry with no taste, and my pulled pork sandwich was extremely spicy, even though the waiter brought off a sample of the bbq sauce, which wasnt spicy at all, yet the sandwich was. And with the high prices on the menu, the restaurant shouldnt mix their old, stale fries with fresh fries! The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant was the service & staff! They were GREAT!! But I didnt go to this restaurant for the staff ... I was hungry & ended up leaving hungry!
Service was excellent as always, but my sandwich that I order almost every time I go was not near as good as normal. Seems like the recipe changed or something it was kind of runny and didnt have near the jalapeno slices in it that it used to have. Still oh, its one of my favorite restaurants in Mentor.
Im a huge Melt fan. Ive been singing Melts praises every time I travel or live outside of Northeast Ohio. I usually have an awesome time. And my reviews for most things are overly positive.Unfortunately not the case in Mentor. I was there with 3 first timers, one from the UK, and I had been talking up Melt HARD for a few weeks. 4 out of 4 of our sandwiches were cold a long with our fries and chips.A little let down after never being disappointed by a east side or west side Melt. I traditionally love Melt, the service was great, and the place was tidy thats why Im not giving it lower than a 2star but dang, I looked foolish to my friends.
What a great spot! Went here after a hockey tournament game with a team of hungry teen hockey players & parents. They were able to accommodate our group and we all had a fabulous lunch. Portions are huge, even just a half! I didnt have to eat for the rest of the day. Spacious location, big bar & tons of beer offerings. Highly recommend this spot!
Prices are getting to the level of insane. Portions have gotten noticably smaller. Service is slower than ever even when not busy. Used to love to get food at Melt, but ever since COVID everything has gone downhill. I understand that COVID hit restaurants hard, but plenty of local restaurants have adjusted and still provide as good if not better food and service to keep customers coming. Melt is the opposite right now and its very disappointing. Will be hard pressed to eat here again. This Melt was a solid 4-4.5 star before COVID.
Honestly, I expected a lot more. A 25 minute wait to be seated and a 30 minute wait for entrees. A 10 top seated before us brought the kitchen to a standstill so our 5 top got stuck in the doldrums. 16 dollars for a cold sandwich. My wife got the carbonara Mac and cheese which was cool and the egg was not cooked to what was asked. (Over easy typically has some runniness this was over HARD). Service was standard for a hipster place, and the mens bathroom was a flooded mess. This was my first and will definitely be my last time at Melt. Style over substance for sure.
Not a fan of the layout of it is busy, I dont like being so close to other people. Tables are right up on each other so not a great place to dine if you have social anxiety, lol. Food is stacked high! I always have extras to take home with me. Very interesting combinations, some weird and a little overboard but everything I have tried has been decent. Cant go wrong with loads of cheese.
Great place to eat if youre gluten free or vegan. Waiters and waitresses are very friendly. Menus make it easy to find GF options and vegan food, and price is more than reasonable for all the food you are serve. I highly reccomend everyone to try the Impossible burger but honestly you cant go wrong with any item on the menu.
Went here to celebrate my daughter getting her Orange belt in karate, place was absolutely completely empty minus a couple tables and they told us itd be a minimum wait of an hour. The waiters were even sitting around doing nothing. Quite displeased and will not be going back there. 😡
It took an extremely long time to get our 2 sandwiches and fries. Other patrons were getting upset about the wait also. When it came the fries were barely warm and greasy, no crisy fries for sure. One sandwich was burned, waitress said its just the bread..duh! She called manager over & they made the sandwich again. It was on a Sunday at 3:00, wasnt very busy only a small crowd. They do give huge sandwichs, but it comes with a hefty price also.
Busy and loud, not necessarily a bad thing but the server needed to compensate better for it. Having to ask for her to repeat herself just got old quickly. Our table was need of repair. There was a significant wobble to it. Besides that, the food was what you would expect from Melt, huge portions and a lot of variety. The place was clean and staff was friendly.
The food is always good, and the staff are very polite. The issue was the wait. I called ahead to order food to go and was told my wait would be 30 min. Already A long wait, but the real problem was it taking over an hour. If it wasn’t for the very nice young lady at the front, this would be a 1 Star.
This place used to be one of my favorites. Now, it seems like theyve gotten a little too greedy. Portions are much smaller and prices have gone up a little. Order a whole sandwich and a half of it was literally BBQ sauce and an onion ring. Also, the service tonight was below mediocre. I dont think Im going back there again for a while.
This place is amazing. From the decorations, to the large beer list, to the generous (and I mean GENEROUS) portions, Melt is a winner. Along with their regular menu, they rotate special sandwiches that are too good to miss. Dont forget to join their big cheese loyalty club!
Were vegetarian and really like the number of menu items available for vegetarians and vegans. We have our favorites items like the Buffalo Tofu, but also enjoy the monthly specials. This locations is very spacious. If I could use one word to describe the Melt--DELICIOUS!
Came in to place a to go order and was greeted at the door as soon as I walked in.Hostess gave me menu and I sat at the bar.Shawn the bartender also greeted me and asked me if Id like to have something to drink while I looked over the menu. Labatt Blue, placed my order, Shawn brought my order, went through everything to make sure it was complete, I paid went home, had a wonderful dinner and was very happy with my experience. I will go back again.
Found this place at 4 p.m. on a weekday. Good service at the bar. Top notch regular and high gravity beer selections. First time trying Great Lakes Tripel (good one). Vegan burger was very large and mouth watering. Better than average fries. Will definitely return to this location.
How Melt’s staff treats their customers is down right despicable. I will never return to this restaurant chain. Worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant in my life. Matt Fish, I would be embarrassed to run this restaurant group. You will be hearing from me about how myself and other customers were treated. Absolutely disgusted.
Great if you are a beer officianado. I am not. The food is good, great creativity. Grilled cheese sandwiches with basically anything you can think of on it. Very messy. Some sandwiches too big to even take a bite of. Last time I went food was mediocre. I think the novelty wears off. Lots of Vegan options!

2022-07-07Went to the melt for dinner while driving thru Ohio. Kids loved the atmosphere and the food, as did the adults. Took a little longer than we expected to get the food but it was worth the wait. All the food we got was really good. Would definitely visit again.

2022-03-31The ever changing staff has made the experiences over the years differ. Sometimes everything is great, sometimes everything takes way to long, from slow service to slow cooking of the food. However, the last two times I have been here has been great. Good service, little wait time for food, and great taste. I feel the sandwiches have gotten smaller over the years, so for the price they can be a bit pricey. When the food comes out nice and hot and tasting good, however, it is worth it.A trick to keep in mind: If both you and whoever you are with want the same sandwich, you can save money by getting the full size sandwich and splitting it instead of paying for two half sandwich meals.Note: do NOT ask for sauce on the side for your fries! They charged me $0.75 just for a small cup of ranch for my fries!Would recommend people give this place a try at least once!

2021-09-21Always a great time there. Great atmosphere and great service. The Artichoke dip was very chunky. The Cheese Wedges were very good. We got the Parma Italy half and Mac and Cheese half with Chicken and still couldnt eat it all.

2022-02-24Enjoyed my food this time around. Had a different experience at another Melt location. Half sandwich was appropriate size, beer selection was good, and staff was semi-attentive. Had to ask for refills, etc... But he was nice about it, just didnt really proactively check on me.Really enjoyed the food, Ill stop back at this location.

2022-07-10This was a nice location - we stopped for an early dinner and they werent very busy. Our waitress was really on top of things even while training another waitress and prepping for her dinner rush. The food was great! The portions are huge but somehow I can never stop myself from eating the whole thing. I did notice that they didnt have their dessert specials posted and I definitely would have ordered if it was quick and easy to do so. Maybe on the specials wall they could do one third for specialty sandwich, combine the second for monthly drink special + specialty beers, and that would leave the final third for dessert specials!

2022-01-29Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Although it took quite a while to get our food, the food was very good. I had the chicken parmesan sandwich and it was fantastic. My bill with a full sandwich (youll end up taking half home because theyre so filling) and one gin and tonic came to $18.61. I will definitely go again.

2022-05-30Hubby and I ordered a take out order last night. Ordered three items. An appetizer and two sandwiches with one side each. When we sat down to eat we realized that two of the three items were not what we ordered/ incomplete. My side was not what I ordered, my husbands side ( fries) was completely missing from the bag! For what this cost us, it shouldve been correct. How hard could it be to check three items for correctness before sending an order out the door? If your doing take out Id make sure to thoroughly check the bag before you leave the parking lot. 🙄
