One important point about mizunte food. Dont do carry out. Tacos are amazing when you eat in. But even a 10-minute car ride home by the time that you get the food to eat it its a steamed mess . This trip is well The empanadas were subpar. The corn maza was tough and chewy and over thick. Its usually very tender light airy fluffy but not this time and the potato mix was almost like paste. They were not good at all. We actually threw half of them away. As well the queso fundido lacked any amount of punch. It was bland and blah. The fish tacos were wonderfully tasty as usual however like my first sentence illustrates these are to be Eaton in the moment not to be carried out because theyre just a bunch of mush by the time you get them home.

They screwed up an online order by mis-representing who actually made the food. Ordered @ 6:14 PM arrive to pick up @ 6:40; They waited until 7:10 to tell me I was @ the wrong restaurant. I needed to drive to their OTHER Mazuente at 1662 Madison in Madison. So now I have a restaurant I never seen or visited making my food. This is a violation of Trust. Really Incredible. It took 90 minutes from order to return. All they offered was free alcohol as compensation. They should have comped the whole meal. I gave these nit wits a 15% tip and got bait and switch. What restaurant does that?
I have used Mazunte for over 3 years now to cater several (100 plus people) events per year. The food is always amazing, per person price is very reasonable, and they have never once been late or messed up our order. I would highly recommend them.
We eat at the Mezunte restaurant all the time, but are just discovering the offerings at the Mercado....stopped in today to pick up corn tortillas for tacos were making, and also grabbed two chicken tamales and salsa for my lunch - wow, are they good! Great place and really nice people.
Thank you Mazunte for a delicious Cinco de Mayo feast. The tacos dorados (taquitos), tacos, tamales (both chicken and pork) were fantastic! The horchata and margaritas hit the spot! You guys were slammed today and the food was still excellent. We’ll definitely be getting more take out next week.
We used Mazunte for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We picked up our items, however only half of what we ordered was given to us. Once we arrived back at our venue to discover this, we immediately had to return to Mazunte to pick up the remaining items. The employees told us that they forgot the bags in the back room. They were not very apologetic, and it made our rehearsal dinner start almost an hour late. Thankfully our guests were understanding, although it was not ideal to make everyone wait so long to eat the food, which was cold by the time the remaining bags arrived. We love Mazunte, but were very disappointed by this catering experience.
Stop in and see for yourself how pleasantly and unassumingly authentic this place is. Order anything, nothing has disappointed me. Love the food and staff 👍

Mazuntes El Mercado has delicious and fresh restaurant quality produce available for purchase as well as select authentic Mexican dishes and meat by the pound.

The food is good but the order wasnt ready on time and lukewarm at best.
Food was really good. The new pickup location though is just in a soso part of town. Id avoid it at night tbh

2021-12-02Mazunte catered our wedding reception in October 2021 and did an absolutely fantastic job. They arrived with plenty of time to set up (the buffet looked awesome) and did an excellent job managing the buffet. The catering team was so incredibly sweet on the day of, and were really easy to work with leading up to the event. Most importantly, the food was excellent and there was more than enough for people to go back for seconds and thirds. My partner and I love eating at Mazunte every time were in town, and are SO glad we chose them to cater our wedding. (Photo cred to our incredible wedding photographer - Cate Ronan).

2022-03-09Not impressed. Ordered on doordash. Food was ice cold. The fish tacos were smaller than expected, they are street taco size and tortillas were soggy. The guacamole had an off putting smell to it and had way too much lemon juice in it, the guac and salsa came in plastic containers like u buy in the store and I’m pretty sure it’s sold in Kroger. The chips are basically round tortillas fried crispy and not broken up into chips. This makes it difficult for dipping. The rice is white rice, not Mexican rice, and it was hard. Huge waste of money. Will not order here again!

2022-01-12There are two sites, this is where delivery and pick up seems to come from. The restaurant is down the road toward Red Bank. The food was fairly good, as I am typically used to, especially the memelitas. I had wanted horchata, but did not get it. Instead I received a Jamaica, which was alright.

2020-12-16The food is amazing, but the tacos DO NOT TRAVEL well, like others have said.Weve eaten here many times in the past, but it doesnt seem they were prepared for takeout. Perhaps they could package ingredients for home assembly? Amazing food, but definitely designed for dining in!

2021-04-19The tacos dorados were wonderful...wish we could get something this nice where we in southern IN.Unfortunately when we opened the tamales box, we found...only rice and sauce. And the sauce on the rice was nice, but we were disappointed to find they forgot to include the tamales....Wouldve been five stars except for that. We will order from them again, if/when we visit Cincy, but will make a point of peeking inside the carryout boxes before leaving the store....EDIT 4/19 Well, I see youve given me a refund...you really didnt need to do that...IAC next time were in Cincy we will definitely visit you at least once! Thank you!!

2018-05-31We ordered their catering for our wedding, and we were so so so happy with it! We weren’t even easy customers to deal with, changing pick up times on them multiple times, but they stayed super friendly and forthcoming, trying to make everything easiest for us and stress free. It was super delicious! You cannot get a better taco and salsa bar! Especially not at that price!
