Service department very non caring about three trips to do a oil change. Rotate the tires and didnt reset the tire positions. Second trip to reset the computer and was told about losing air in one of the tires said it was fine. Brought it home still losing air took back a third time and they found a nail because the tech never looked for a nail the service department acted like it was no big deal that we had to bring it back 3 times. Not happy how they treated my mom and I had to waste my time to bring it back to get a simple problem fixed. The one service manager said well I wasnt here that day but he was. Very disappointing when you buy a new car and get treated like this! Probably the last car we as a family will buy there....
My girlfriend broke down in tears when she though we won $5,000, and again when the guy we talked to said we actually won knock-off AirPods.Absolutely disgusting business model, are your children proud to call you their parent? To the owner: There was no confusion - you use immoral business tactics to lure people into your store.
I am not one to normally leave a review, but I wont tolerate being lied to. I received a scratch off flyer (see attached photo) showing that I was a winner of $5,000 dollars. I wasted my time, energy, excitement, and effort to drive to Bucyrus and be told by the salesman RICK that I had won a chance to win the $5,000. I would hate to support my family with lies and deception. Ill keep this short because Ive given them enough of my time.Thurman would turn over in his grave if he saw this behavior! You need to be held responsible.WOW!
Replied to response 5/11/21:I received a response on my comment and it was incorrect. I dropped my car off on Thursday 4-29-21 (not Monday) to be worked on first thing Friday morning 4-30-21. My car was not even looked at until 230p Friday afternoon. So right there is a day lost. My car was not repaired that day. I understand that once it was looked at there was a required part that needed to be ordered. But there is literally no reason that I couldnt have been contacted EARLY Friday to let me know that it could not be worked on until the afternoon and allowed to bring my car back when you received the part. I could have been driving my car instead of getting rides. Your facility could released my car back to me and have called me when the part came in. My car was safe to drive it just needed the window fixed to roll up and down. My car was not repaired until 5-5-21. There was no reason to just fix a door handle before you knew what part was needed to fix it everthing. Im not exactly sure why this concept escapes your facility. It is called lack of planning.___________________________________My experience was not the greatest. I made an appointment over a week in advance with info about my car and what I wanted done. I actually asked them to pick the date so my car would not be added to an already busy day in the hopes quick service. Maybe my expectations were too high but since I had made my appointment well in advance I expected them to have a game plan before I ever dropped my car off. Well they did not. I would have been better off just walking in at the last minute. My car ended up being at the service center for a week over a window. I could have been driving my car that whole time and just scheduled to come back in when the necessary part delivered. The experience was just unorganized and timely. They did end up coming through and getting the repair done but I am left with the thought this should have been better planned for the customer. Hopefully my comment is read and they will be better prepared for customers that make appointments.
Sales rep had no training about vehicles. I know he was only on job two months but he should at least know basic questions about wireless access, how the key works, etc. Sales manager was dishonest about giving us a ballpark figure concerning our trade-in of a Corvette. We said we wanted around 9000 for it. He made us go home and get it, and then he said a ballpark figure would be about 3000 - this after seeing the car! He could have told us that without seeing the car, knowing we were so far apart. We would not have wasted time going home and getting it to show him. The finance dealer lied about being able to get me a lower rate than I could get at Honda Credit Union. Honda offered 2.84. He gave me 2.91. Junior needed an additional signature the following week for the Incentive Acknowledgement Form. He threatened me that I would not get the memo title until I returned the form and proof of insurance. These should have both been handled at the closing. He even wanted me to make the trip to Bucyrus to sign this form on my time, when it was his error. It took seven hours to make this purchase. We love the car but will never buy or recommend buying from Mathews.
Im in utter disbelief... I brought my 19 year old daughter in for her first experience at trying to buy her own vehicle. Shes a college student with a low paying job and short hours recieving unemployment to supplement for a job loss, due to covid. My other daughter and I, both disabled veterans, came to offer support and guidance. I was going to cosign. Of course Richard Johnson got us approved. The problem started when Richard Johnson showed us a $22,000 2018 Equinox. I told him repeatedly, just because we were approved, does not mean we wanted to get the most expensive vehicle we could. Richard Johnson ignored my input on price preference. My daughter, of course loved the test drive. We went inside to see the price breakdown in writing. She and I stepped out to talk about it privately. The enormity of the situation became too much for her and she became extremely anxious. I went inside to tell Richard Johnson that we needed a few days to talk about it and that my daughter had become anxious about the whole situation. Richard Johnson went and spoke to his manager? and a few coworkers, about 4 of them in the next office (I later realized they were planning how to run their game on two disabled veteran women and an anxiety ridden teenager). Richard Johnson then came out claiming he had gotten a (mysterious) call from the bank and would be taking $3,000 off the vehicle price. At this point, Richard Johnson was just trying to keep me occupied while Rick Atkinson is behind my back, outside with my daughters. I was starting to get anxious that Richard Johnson wouldnt take no for an answer. When I got up to leave I saw Rick Atkinson leaning over my daughters in an intimidating manner, I ran out the door and yelled at him (using NO profanity, I might add) to get him away from us.I do NOT appreciate the underhanded approach, the manipulating tactics, the intimidating mannerisms or the refusal to take no for an answer. Richard Johnson and Rick Atkinson created a hostile car buying experience overall. And before Mathews responds with it being a misunderstanding, save it for the next customers you try to bully into overspending to selfishly line your pockets.
My check engine light came on in my 2017 Colorado truck on a Wednesday. The service advisor originally said he didnt have anything available until next Tuesday. After further explaining my dilemma, he was able to make room for my service the very next day. This was extremely important to me because I was 170 miles away from my warranty running out at 36,000 miles. I understandably didnt want to put anymore miles on my vehicle before having the check engine light analyzed. Turned out the service and replacement part was covered under warranty and was completed the very next day. Kudos to them!
I would advise anyone purchasing a used car from them to have it independently inspected. If you have any questions, I have photos of myriad issues that should have been addressed that were not. Might explain why GM and sales person are no longer there, but they offered ZERO help when I contacted them. Nothing.
Birdie Baum is awesome. Ive gotten 2 vehicles from her at Mathews and both times she made it easy! The team here worked hard to get us a payment we could afford and a vehicle that was what we needed! Didnt feel pressured and they answered all our questions. Highly recommend working with Birdie!
Dont take your car here for an oil change. They dont check all your fluids and suggest that you have other things wrong with your vehicle even though you just bought the vehicle 3 months earlier, but they dont work with you on buying a vehicle either. So I bought mine at Sharpnack Chevy in Willard and thats where I will take it for repairs. Did Mathews rotate my tires? It doesnt look like it. Very dissatisfied with Mathews service department. It took over an hour and they didnt fill up all fluids.
Called in to have my daughters car looked at it and they fixed/replaced what was needed in great time! They even went the extra mile to check other things on the car and leave a little treat and thank you card on the seat! Awesome service! Excellent experience. Good job team!
I have spoke to them by phone twice in last two days. As a widow I am not very trusting. They will be where we purchase our next car or SUV from. Awesome guys. we have a Chevy HHR 2008, I am equally sure they will service as well as they help. Andy and Todd both have been awesome//Customer Service Top Notch. Not your everyday issue..nothing but kindness.WE already loved everyone. BIRDIE BAUM, just sold us SUV..awesome deal go see them you will not retreat it. (10-17-2018) Process flawless..super folks.
I used to love this dealership until the latest car my boyfriend bought. Needed a oil change the day we got the SUV. They only put in 5Quarts and my vehicle requires 7. They said it was policy. No big deal. Coolant was almost empty no big deal. Then my battery went out, thats normal. Then it was a Tire stem and now the car refuses to turn on (think its the starter). Refuses to help and told me sometimes you just buy a bad car.... it doesnt help the car wont start and Im now 30 minutes away or id just give it back!!!!!!
Everyone was extremely friendly, the issue was I was directed there (from 30 miles away, and 60 miles from my home) because my Chevy Volt stopped working while I was driving 65 mph... First the 24 hour roadside assistance gave me the Canada number, then they gave me a Chrysler dealership, finally this location... I drove over and they dont work on volts. They offered to clear out the error codes, thankfully they didnt do that because those codes eventually led to the drive unit being replaced. They were friendly, but just not knowledgeable for this model.
This dealership sent mail outs to several people that I know for a “No purchase necessary” contest. In all of the fine print it doesn’t say anything about purchasing a vehicle or getting approved for a car loan, etc. It lists the odds of winning and had a pull tab that you must pull to match with the winning numbers to win different variations of cash. Assuming it’s a scam but wanting to double check, you call and they assure you that it’s not a scam at all reiterate that there is no purchase necessary and that all you have to do is bring in the piece of mail that shows your numbers match and claim your cash prize. Then, you drive to their dealership for them to tell you that there is no cash prize. Very unprofessional. Completely ignorant and a blatant lie.
A gem in Bucyrus! I purchased a brand new Malibu from Mathews and had a wonderful experience! Everyone there was incredibly knowledgeable about the vehicle and its features. Also, Justin in financing, got me a great rate. Before this vehicle, I had purchased 3 new Hondas and never got the level of service that Mathews provides.
Mike A was great, but they tell you they will do anything to sell a car, when the truth is they will write your paper work up and run your credit and thats it....dealing is not their strong point at this location and selection is low on good inexpensive used vehicles.... but the saying goes... it is what it is.... lol
Was in Bucyrus visiting clients when I noticed my breaks on my 2014 Denali were feeling a bit odd, stoped in to Mathews and they were quick and more than wiling to fit me in. In just over one hour I had new breaks, oil change and a complete review of my SUV and was on the road. You cant find that in Columbus, you cant find that anywhere! Todd in service went above and beyond and my only complaint? I dont live closer to Bucyrus!!! They were awesome! Thanks Todd and Thanks Mathews for keeping me safe and making my time count! GO IRISH!
I bought a 2006 Malibu LTZ about 2 weeks ago. Initially the sales team was great. But really took a huge screwing once the deal was done. During the test drive I noticed a couple problems they refused to fix. But I figured I could do the minor repairs and be done with it. But come to find out there was way more problems than I thought. I traded in a perfectly mechanically sound 2000 Alero for something with more problems than my original vehicle. I noticed that the malibu they sold me for 5500.00 had a humming coming from the tires. So I took it to have a check done, and came to find out it had bad lower control arms, 4 bad tires that were cupped and broken belts. So I did the necessary repairs. So now Ive replaced rear rotors and brakes cause the car had factory rotors and pads on it and pads and calipers were ceased on top of the emergency brake not working. Then replaced the lower control arms and tires. Took it to get aligned now now they noticed the rear coil springs, lateral arms, struts and shocks are all worn and need replaced soon because the tolerances are close to being unable to align. Im tapped on funds and no way to do the rest of the repairs. Im out over 500.00 already and more to be repaired. Sad part Ive not made my first payment yet. They claim there used vehicles have been inspected but there is no way. How could it been inspected? When it had ceased brakes that were stuck in the bracket on top of the rotors being shot. The rear brakes had not worked in a long time, frozen calipers, no emergency brake, unsafe tires with cords showing, bad control arms, and suspension that is shot. I would not recommend Mathew chevrolet on a used vehicles. Very upset over the situation.
I have a 2013 Cadillac and it was riding so rough a dully truck was a smother ride. I took it to Mathews and they were fast in the exact problem of the car, the struts were broke. The gave me an estimate to fix it and I said ok. They had it one day to find the problem the next day to fix it and the third day I got it back. The cost was less then the estimate and it rides like a Cadillac again. Thanks Service department. You will have my business in the future because you are fair, honest, fast and great to work with.
Asked for a ride to a restaurant just down the road said they couldnt do it. said would be done in 45 minutes took just over an hour. then tried to give me a bill said I had already had my truck serviced 4 times and this was only number 3. why would someone have there vehicle serviced 5 times in 20,000 miles?
My family and I were traveling from Pennsylvania to Indiana for the holidays when our car started acting up. With 3 kiddos in the back seat and sub zero temperatures we were pretty nervous. The manager Seth and technician Cory could not have been kinder to us. They got us in, looked at the problem and got us back on the road. I wish I could give them 10 stars.

2022-08-24WOW. WOW. WOW. IS ALL I CAN SAY RIGHT NOW! What an incredible team! From the manager Tyler Smith, to the sales staff, down to the receptionist this place ROCKS! I dont know how they do what they do but they are truly indescribable. From what I understand they are under new ownership so go check them out! If youre looking to buy a car ask for the manager Tyler and he will get you set up with someone who will walk you thru the car buying process at YOUR pace. Great atmosphere, low pressure, and FUN! Seriously guys, keep up the good work.

2022-04-154 years ago, my wife bought a GMC Acadia from these people. 2 days after she drove it off the lot, they called her up and said she needed gap insurance which right away tells me that she overpaid for the vehicle and they knew it. Instead of bringing it back to them and demanding her money back she went ahead and did what they asked without fully understanding what it was for. A year later we decided that it would be best to pay off the loan early to save on interest charges. We were obviously due a refund on the gap insurance. It took nearly a year to get our refund due to the incompetent people at Matthews with the exception of Brady who was very helpful. A week ago, we just got the car back from the mechanic because we had to have the entire engine replaced because the timing chain which apparently is supposed to be changed every 100,000 miles went, causing the valves to get bent thus requiring the entire engine be replaced. My wife bought it with roughly 80,000 miles which meant that it was just about due already. The problem here is that they are not forthright in advising customers about items that will require maintenance. Dont do business with these people. They are not honest with their customers and they will rob you blind.

2022-04-17So many hidden fees and rude employees. Dont get me wrong, there are a select few that are nice and will work with you, but there were multiple issues with our car they tried to hide. And when we found the issues, the dealership either blamed us or said theyd handle it, then try and guilt trip us into paying half. Not a huge fan of dealerships to begin with and places like this are why.

2022-06-24Wish I could give 0 stars to this absolutely HORRID place. Took me going to trade in my car to be told the car I bought was in an accident. I was NEVER told this and now my cars value is taken down. Have had a shifter problem since I bought it. Took it last year and told them the shifter was messed up and they couldnt make it happen when it happens every single time you put the car in park. I will be talking to a lawyer.

2022-03-25This place is horrible they send out deceptive mailers telling you won $3000, you call the number they confirm over the phone you are a winner you just have to go inside to claim your prize. When you get there you dont get to claim your prize until they have tried for over an hr to sale you a car. Which I told them from the very beginning Im not buying a car and they still run my credit!!! I did NOT give them permission to do so. The woman made it seem that it was needed to do the paperwork to claim the prize. And then they tell me that all I won was VR Glasses!!! Ever single person in there was in there golden years with the same winning letter I received. I strongly feel they are targeting older people and hoping they can trick them into buying a car!!! Extremely unhappy and I know where I will be telling people to NOT go to get a car!

2022-04-16I purchased a truck from them and was given a higher interest rate than agreed upon. I wasn’t even allowed to pick out what I wanted was given what they wanted to give me. Overall my service was awful and was scammed out of my money. I had to refinance through somewhere else just to get the deal I should have gotten the first time!

2022-02-15They took my fathers keys to his car and held him hostage until the point of low blood sugar. He asked them for his keys back multiple times but they refused. They did this until he bought a car. I wish I was there with him because I would have called the police on this criminal organization. This is unacceptable behavior. If you care about your loved ones, do not let them go to this location. They will hurt them until they make a sale.

2018-09-26When I needed my GM Key fob batteries changed they installed them at no charge. And last year repaired my Chevy Cruze key/fob by using the original key into a new Fob saving money $$ also. Ive never had a bad experience with the Service or Parts Department. When warranty work was needed on the Cruze they didnt stop until the job was perfect.Next car purchase can be expected at Mathews, great people working there.

2022-04-11Sales gimmick makes you think you won money. The woman on the phone told us we won money, but of course there was a catch. They lied to get us there so they could try and sell us a car.
