Maria Gardens Center in other cities:
Visited Nov. 5th and bought over $100 in plants. My best friend and I drove 45 minutes to see their greenhouse, Christmas decor and ice cream shop. There were 2 plants that I overlooked since I didn’t have a phone signal and are toxic to my cats. I came yesterday on Nov. 13th to just return and or exchange them to get something else with my receipt.Their return policy is 7 days, and Nov. 13th was the 8th day I had the plants. The cashier said there was nothing she could do and made no attempt to offer an alternative to the situation. I could understand if the plants were dying or if it had been more than 1 day past the policy, but the plants were completely fine and it was only 1 day past. I work 45-60 hours a week.. they were always closed by the time I got off work. I have over 35 plants at home with a mini greenhouse and everything. I’m a store manager, and this was just disappointing customer service. My store would’ve returned it or at least gave store credit to take care of the customer. All I wanted was to get two other plants that were not toxic to my cats. Will not recommend to any plant group or be returning as a customer. I drove 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back. Not to mention on Nov. 5th the younger female cashier who was there in the afternoon was not friendly. My friend and I originally had a great time on Nov. 5th despite that. The gentleman on the floor helped us find a specific plant that looked healthier without us asking for help, he just recommended it. There’s a small area but has wide range of selection of plants. A lot of the succulents are on the floor, not receiving enough light.. They have a large area of pots which was nice. The ice cream shop connected to them had a lady who was great and the ice cream was nice too. Wouldn’t recommend the garden center for customer service.
Worst experience I’ve had here. Rushed to get there in time before closing with my three young kids to pick out pumpkins. No one came out to help me, entrance was locked, three workers stood there watching me. Male employee came to exit that was cracked and I asked if I could pay for the pumpkins. He asked “Are you buying anything else?”What kind of service is that? I know you close at 7pm. I know it’s a Friday. I won’t be back & won’t suggest this nursery to anyone I know. I walked away because I don’t want to support a business that won’t let a mom pay for three pumpkins ten minutes before you close. Really unfortunate. Miss the days where people cared.
Im being generous with two stars here because they do carry a wide selection of houseplants. That said, we used to buy all of our wild bird supplies here until we realized how extremely overpriced their products are. Dont ask the employees any questions, because they never have an answer and are too busy to attempt to find one for you. Their new loyalty program is a joke. Dont expect to see the employees respecting your health by wearing masks during the pandemic. They simply dont. Even with a state mandate. There is nothing on their website about their commitment to public safety or anything describing the precautions they take to protect the health of their employees, let alone customers. There is, however, a new sign up on their door which appears to be an attempt at excusing their lack of masks, but requiring customers wear them. No logic here. They dont respect social distance, either and will approach you with their masks down under their chins. Maybe they are too busy counting their money to watch the news or read a newspaper. I am committed to supporting local businesses and keeping money within the community but it wont be this business for the foreseeable future.
Terrible customer service!!! Last spring I purchased multiple fruit trees. The pear tree did not survive. I was told that they guarantee their products. When I walked in to discuss my options for the dead tree they no longer stock that item but offered me 30% off another option and pressured me into buying a Cleveland Select which cost an additional $130. At checkout the cashier was very unpleasant and gave me a difficult time about the discount. But confirmed with her colleague, charged me out, and instructed me around back. Once I pulled up to the back to load my purchase the next employee I dealt with was incapable of doing his job and left me no choice but to load it myself which left me covered in mud. As soon as I got home I placed the tree in ground and Google it only to discover that this is not even a fruit bearing tree. Now they are refusing to take the tree back or return my money. Buyers be wear, youre better of going to Lowes which actually will guarantee their garden products for up to a year.
I placed an order in December. And the order never got tracked and it never seem to be moving. And I called them probably 10 times over a two-week period asking about the order. It was live plants and it was cold and they kept telling me to hang in there and don’t worry and the plants will get there and they take a long time. I live an hour away from the store so priority mail should’ve gotten there in one or two days. I got the plants three weeks later and they were not in great shape. So they did replace the plants at the store. I decided last week I would try again and I ordered three houseplants on March 5. They were packed and ready to be shipped On March 7. Supposedly they went to the North Royalton post office which I’m not even sure if they made it there, but they have been stagnant since Monday, March 8. And it’s a little confusing on the tracking to see if they actually are at the post office or the post office is waiting for the package. But needless to say the package has not moved since 4 o’clock on March 8. That’s a week ago today. I have called several times last week, and I asked for a call back . Friday morning 1030 I sent an email explaining the situation and I still never heard back. Yesterday I called and I talk to Mitch who I believe is an owner and he told me he saw the email on Friday and they don’t do anything on Saturday and Sunday so on Monday he would check into why the package wasn’t moving. And it is 7:49 on Monday night. And I have not heard a word from them.I’m not a huge customer but I spent about $80 the first time and I spent 50 this time and I went into the store a while back couple months ago in between these two purchases and spent $130. But I have to say I will not spend another penny with this store because they do not care about their customers. They take your Money and they really don’t care if they produce the product for you in a timely fashion. I have a retail store and I do a lot of shipping and at Christmas I was shipping UPS at my own expense because of how slow the Postal Service was. And I was very conscientious to make sure that my packages got delivered and I still Make sure that my packages get delivered. And I most certainly would not put people off for a week two weeks or three weeks when they’re getting live plants. I am very very disappointed in this company and it’s really a shame. So if I don’t hear from somebody tomorrow I’m going to tell them just to cancel the order and give me back my money and I’ll be done with this!
Excellent variety in plants and outdoor needs. My only issue is the queue for the registers is a little disorganized Sometimes a customer will wait off to the side by a specific register and if the cashier does not notice or say anything, they either get ignored over and over and think theyre waiting for a line or they cut everyone who is properly waiting. Its not a big deal to me, but Ive seen customers get very frustrated and angry.
I called and ordered 2 potted plants to be delivered to an elderly friend following the death of her husband. The girl I spoke with was very helpful, I explained that it was a memorial gift and she attached a In Deepest Sympathy card on one of the plants. However I was mortified when I found out they delivered the plants and gave her a copy of the invoice. When I called and spoke with the delivery manager he told me I should have instructed them not to deliver the invoice with the order. Really?? My reply was that it was a gift with a sympathy card attached. Shouldn’t they have known better than to give her the invoice. But again I was told it was my fault for not telling them to not include the invoice. I guess it was my fault for ordering with them in the first place. I will never make that mistake again.
Overpriced selection and unhelpful staff. I called to make sure they had a specific item and when I arrived they didnt have it. No worries, I ended up finding a $34 calla lilly. Great deal 😂🤣I then proceeded to checkout where their machines were down on a Saturday so I got charged not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES...no big deal. I called to fix it but they couldnt until Monday even though this was THEIR mistake...so I call Monday but the ONLY person in the entire establishment that could issue me a refund is on vacation. WHAT A JOKE! Lets just say Ill never be back. The competitor up the street has twice the selection for half the price and their staff has at least half a brain. ✌
Lots of folks without masks, including cashiers and other employees. Also the store was very crowded. Marias must not care about the health of its customers or employees. Most of the plants/flowers are indoors very poor air circulation and impossible to maintain social distancing. Weve gone to this store for a long time but no more.
I love this place. Selection is amazing. What impresses me most is seed success. Last year I tried seeds from a big box store with barely 50% germination. This year I got seed that was sourced by Maria Gardens Center and nearly everything germinated on first try. We’ve also had huge success with their trees, including most recently cold-tolerant Crape Myrtles that leafed out exactly as advertised in late May.
We used Maria Gardens to install landscaping at our newly built home. The quality of the plants is outstanding. The landscaping crew is comprised of family members and close friends of the family, so theres no concern about strangers coming to your home. The communication from this company is excellent. Were using them again this year to add a few beds and complete the last half of our grass installation. I highly recommend them!
I ordered 4 plants. I was really excited because I thought I would be recieve a plant Id wanted to add to my collection for awhile. The order was shipped in a few days. I was very disappointed. The plants look like they were taken from the clearance rack at Lowes. I contacted them and sent pictures. I only raised an issue about the two I really wanted for my collection, and the other two were at least viable.. I was offered a 50% store credit if I thought that was fair. Um no! Why would I want to spend more money for poor quality plants? Dont be fooled by the lush plants they display on the website.
I like how garden staff is on hand, telling you about the plants, teaching you how to grow them, what to expect. Its even pretty just to walk around. I like the attached Pinecone ice cream shop! My brother purchased a gerbena - at first we thought was not going to make it - but plant is a fighter and has repeatedly bloomed this summer. Staff are very attentive to plant care, always watering then to make sure plants are good to buy.
Weve purchased 4 trees and had them planted by this Maria Gardens location. Excellent quality and service! We had an incident where one tree did not survive and they honored their 1 year replacement policy with the original receipt without hassle. Even if you do not want to buy anything it is a beautiful place just to walk around in. 5 stars!
We went to Maria Garden Center looking for a live Christmas tree. The staff were very helpful and informative about all the different types of trees .We have been going to Maria Garden Center since moving to Middleburg Heights almost 30 years ago. They have reasonable prices and a great staff. They are open and getting their Christmas decorations up .We recommend Maria Garden Center for all your landscape needs .
Today, 23 July 2020, I went to Marias gardens to get plants for the yard. Most if not all employees were not wearing masks even when talking to you closely. Mind you they had them, the masks were just around their necks and got upset when you asked about them. In another section we asked an employee about a type of flower and he got upset with us. We did not realize he had not put a price sticker on the plant yet. He had been to busy watering the plants in the rain. Yes you read that right it was raining fairly well and had been most of the day but he was watering plants that were in the open getting rained on instead of putting tags on the plants. After he was done he did go back to tagging plants but would not price the ones we asked for. We left the 15 plants we had so far and just left after that.
Yesterday I picked up 2 Mums 10inch , 2 pumpkins, 5 gourds and some ice cream the total came to $178 and some change. WHAT!!!! Now she had to ring up 2× the lady before me I think I may have overcharged you . I asked what was so expensive she said the mums,, I asked how much are they $48 I believe she mumbled, by then I said take these away and re ring me up. She rung up 2 pumpkins, 5 gourds, 4 quart ice cream $55.46 then I asked her , you mean to tell me those 2 mums are $120 ??? Yes she replied.Wow never in my life will I pay $120 for 2 mums. That cashier must have been high or something not going right there. Its a shame I go here a lot but after that traumatic experience I think Im done. The extra added star is for Pinecone ice cream. It makes one wonder🤔💭 how many customers were overcharged that day.I wish you all the best🤘💚Blessed be 🌙🌍🧙♂️🔥🌞
I bought 6 bushes. When making the purchase, I specifically made the purchase at this location, due to it being local, and they were able to deliver & install the bushes.I paid for 6 bushes, delivery , and install, this was $1200. One of the major factors on choosing Maria’s was they said they bushes were warrantied for 1 year.About 8-9 months later, 2/6 bushes died.I went back to their location. After asking to speak with a manager, an older lady informed me that theywould in fact not warranty there items , and I was basically SOL.So, after paying more then double the cost of the bushes to have them delivered and installed, they went back on their own policy ,and told me they would not warranty the bushes they sold me.That’s they only reason I bought them their.
I called today to see if I could order fertilizer and lawn seed for pickup. Not sure of the exact name of the seed mix but Meghan went back twice to get the right one. Exceptional customer service. The young an who helped load the truck was also very pleasant. My health issues have left me relying on others for help and these two young individuals have given me some comfort. Thank you
Horrible customer service. Wish I could have given 0 stars. Asked for help finding something both times told to wait and someone would be over. finally I asked a guy who told me it was outside on a table I explained I dont know what it looks like I was getting a gift. again repeated himself on a table outside and walked away. Than again asked for help it was so nice of them to point me to another customer that was looking for the same thing and told me we can look together. I finally found one walked to the counter and there was at least 4 workers standing with no line. I said to the one worker this has been horrible customer service as she is eating potato chips say I know it is. Really that was her answer. I get better service at Lowes and home depot.
Very pretty plants, just maybe not for ordering online. I found this website by chance while looking for a white fusion calathea and was excited by the price so I ordered a couple plants to be sent to Florida. They arrived alive, but since they were packaged sideways, several of the leaves on my prince of orange philodendron are broken. Not the end of the world as the plant itself seems okay, but a little sad.
Just a bit disappointed. Called in April to get some landscape estimate, said booking in June, I said O.K. June 10th they were to come. Got call about machinery problem late in day on June 10th, will come next week. Next week is over, I called and they are so backed up and really not doing any of the work I want done: some stone to border a garden, new garden bed put in, few perennials put in, 2 old lilac stumps taken out. After I spent over $400 on flowers from them to put it. Wont be buying much from you guys anymore. Really poor service.
I went there today today because I have to do a flowerbed and I am not experienced at all with gardening the only thing I knew was shrubs so I found one and I asked if there was anymore and the guy in the nursery was so rude he flat out said No without even looking and walked away from me. Then I continued on looking myself and I had a cart and he was blocking the isle and he knew I needed by and he would not move I had to walk all the way around to get to the other side. Beautiful things there but customer service is the worst so I wont be back there.
They have an amazing variety of yard decor and gift items but everything is very expensive. However, my complaint is the employees. I have been here multiple times and never once have I been asked if I need assistance. There is a general air of disinterest from the staff. The employees on register were snappy and rude and only the man in the loading area was polite.I recommend the Royalton Road location over this one. The gift shop is smaller but the staff are much nicer.
Difficult to find anyone who can help. much of the staff have no idea what plants names are, how much they are or how to care for them. Beautiful plants but i had customers asking me questions because staff didnt know anything about them. So unless you know what you want i wouldnt go
Compared to all the other nurseries around I found that Maria Gardens had the best deals on all their hanging plants and veggies. A beautiful place just to walk around and they offer a wheel chair to those with disabilities where many others do not. On Wednesday they have senior discount day too! Maria Gardens is not the closest nursery for me, but well worth the drive. You will not be disappointed.
Very well organized store with alot of variety of plants and flowers. However, they are very very expensive compared to others. Almost twice and triple the price of other garden centers in the area. I bear cost in mind and very careful in my nursery selections ... I think they overrated and overpriced there items. I will never visit this store again.
Our family has been customers of Maria Gardens for many years. My wife and I were extremely disappointed today during our visit to the North Royalton store. We wore our masks and gloves to protect ourselves and others from Covid-19. Not one of the employees we saw had on a mask. Neither did they practice social distancing when passing us in the building. We will not return until they show respect for their customers.
This is probably the best garden center in the Cleveland Area. They have the widest variety of houseplants that’s Ive seen in this area. Ive picked up some beauties from here like a Stromanthe Triostar, Monstera Adansonai, and Philodendron Mcolleys Finale. Prices are the cheapest you’ll find in the area.
Will never go back again! As a small business owner myself we always try to shop small especially around holidays. We purchased 6 holiday seasonal entrance mats as gifts for Christmas. For 7 dollars a piece which we could have got for 5 at a big box. Which again shop small. We decided to keep 5 of them as gifts and going to return 2. The woman at the desk would not return them. One was fallish and one was winterish. They said you cant return them because they are seasonal items. Long story short. She returns the fallish one but would not return the winter one saying it was a Christmas item and as the sign says no returns on Christmas items. I completely understand if it was a 250 tree a 50 dollar wreath or something of that nature. Which they were selling there. That makes sense to me. But a 7 dollar mat. By the way. It was a winter mat not a Christmas one. Did not say Merry Christmas or anything like that. I would certainly call it a seasonal item. And they had piles of them still at the store sitting on the shelves. How would one more hurt. I could go on and on about the poor customer service of these two woman. Dont know there names. One was old and one was younger. Either way. I believe as a business owner myself this would have been one of the times even if it was a Christmas item which it wasnt. There could have been an exception. Long story short. Bad business. Don not to here unfortunately!! Oh yeah and the kicker was after they time and time again said they would not return it as I was leaving she smiles and says have a good day in that arrogant kind of condescending tone.
Beware..when a business positions a young gal. at the register to repeat their disclaimer after you have paid...that they do not stand behind their product 100%.. only 50%..Employee was very uncomfortable with this task and mumbled so low.. I didnt even know she was talking to us. until my client asked her to repeat it.

I came by to see the selection which is good. The store has nice displays of pots and accessories. The plants look in good condition however they are all pricey. The cost is more than other local shops so shop wisley. I was not greeted by anyone within 10 ft. I asked for help about some outdoor plants but the person..walked away?O.k so got some good cash burning in my wallet, and going to give it all away just a few miles away 😉

2022-05-11Purchased 2 trees; I have never planted trees before, so I asked staff what it would take. They told me I needed to have them install the trees if I wanted to have it done right since they use specialized equipment, soil and fertilizer - this purchase also guarantees a warranty. However, I received 3 men with 2 shovels and a generic bag of mulch. Took them 20 minutes to dig 2 shallow holes, plant the trees and dump the mulch, no special equipment, fertilizer or soil. Called Marias - apparently this is what you get for $400. I mean, I totally could have done this myself, and now I have to go buy my own fertilizer!! Im so upset - they asked me to send pictures...they offered to come back and fertilize, but I was told this is what $400 gets me. Way to take advantage of people.

2022-05-06You can not find a garden center that has more friendly, more helpful employees and a large selection of products. I buy nearly all of my garden products from here. I think the one gentleman (Paul??) is everywhere and so willing to answer questions.

2022-05-19Long story short, plants didnt last two weeks. Followed the directions, 1 out of 5 survived. Was told essentially too bad. A waste of 160 bucks. Go to HD at least they guarantee there stuff for a year.

2017-06-26This is a beautiful Nursery with all kinds of good stuff. Beautiful hanging baskets and perennials and annuals and all kinds of beautiful garden decor for inside and out. I didnt even have time to look at everything because I specifically went there looking for succulents. I found a nice selection and purchased four things, check out the photos. I would recommend this place for sure!

2020-06-09Received my second order today of two new Calathea I did not have in my collection. Once again they were packaged with lots of love and care, and arrived in immaculate condition. I can not recommend them high enough. I will continue to order as long as they have plants I want and need.
