Maple Highlands Trail in other cities:

This would have been a 5 star review...but...from the most northern part of the trail, the way too tiny parking lot off 44, to the city of Chardon, the trail is great...for the most part. Had to park a few miles south, around the corner to an offshoot trail. No worries. But when we hit town and the trail ended...it literally ENDED! No signs. Nothing. Just...end. So where are the street signs pointing you to the other trail beginning, about 2 miles away? It was just very odd. But otherwise it was ok.

2022-04-13It was a pretty smooth trail. Its paved and there are other walkers and bikers...not secluded. Also passed parts of backyards and side yards of property. It has a scenic pond, grass, trees, benches as well as the site of personal property also gives it a community trail feeling as you walk!. Both natural and scenic.

2020-07-05A fantastic ride from Concord to Middlefield, nicely paved bike&hike with a true variety of sights to see. A nice little link through the center of Chardon along with miles of woods, bridges, fields and farms.22 miles of pure bliss.

2022-03-23Well maintained trail, good amount of rest spots with drinking fountains, if you find the very beginning and go to the very end, the trail almost reaches about 25 miles which round trip would make about 50 miles.

2020-06-21This was our first time on the trail. It was a great trail. At some points, the trail is under construction. We did the North, South, and Central Trail. Overall, it is a very shaded and nice trail!

2019-04-20Great recreation trail repurposed from the old railroad. Parking at various locations along the trail. Connects with the Greenway Corridor in Lake County, and changes name to Maple Highlands Trail in Geauga County. Goes through the towns of Chardon and Middlefield. Previously the substrate was gravel, which was nicer for horseback riding and hiking. The entire trail is paved now, so very wheelchair accessible, and convenient for bicycles, running/walking, etc. Buggies permitted on certain legs of the trail. ***Be sure to stop in Middlefield for food at Olde Town Grille and ice cream at The Depot. If you continue on to Swine Creek Reservation, the last portion of your travel will be on the road to connect to the park.

2021-09-14I would recommend picking up the trail nearer to downtown Chardon as the north section at the Ravenna Rd trailhead goes along a busy highway and is not too interesting.

2018-04-15This is a fantastic paved trail system for easy hiking and running. Lots of shaded areas throughout the trail, and the trails run near parks that provide bathrooms and covered facilities. There are a couple of covered bridges on the south side of the trail, which adds to the charm. My family and I love coming here to see the Northeast Ohios fall colors. Highly recommended.
