Beautiful place. The reason why im giving it only 4 stars is that for the lavander field we were charged for taking our one year old and our toddler. The guy said it was because people take family pictures which for me that was a bizarre reason. No place or farm charges under 2 year olds going in. Also be prepared to pay extra if you want to take lavander. In the Facebook they didnt specify that and so since we didnt expect that we didnt take enough cash. For some reason the card wouldnt go through the machine so we ended up paying 20 dollars just to go in the field but not taking anything. Other than that the Play area for kids at the Market area (mind this is separated from the fiel) was awesome and also the set up was great too! My girls had fun!
Great place to go if you have children! So many things to do, including duck (mallards etc.) And pig races, absolutely hilarious. Great food and great drinks alongside a wide array of things to do for big and small alike. Wish I had found this place earlier in life, our little girl (1.5) loved it! The pumpkin cannon is 2legit2quit!
This place was an awesome find while out Ohio road tripping. They have a restaurant here. Had some kind of big festival or something going on for fall. Wish I had more time to stay and explore. They have their own soda, beer, and wine. A little bit on the expensive side, but worth the stop.
Great value! While this business does offer a restaurant experience inside of their market place (which does have a good selection of various food and drinks and seemed lively during my walkthrough), my review is about their Fall festival combined with Oktoberfest recognition. Food vendors were appropriately priced and the beer sold was excellent. You can tell that this farm is genuine and family operated and I definitely appreciate that aspect. All events and attractions were suitable for all types of ages, from the paintball shed and the hog and duck racing to the corn maze and pumpkin patch. Plenty of events for kids! My entire family had a great time during the three to four hours we spent here, and Im sure well be visiting again and again.
We took our two year-old for his birthday. The tickets were inexpensive. The children enjoyed the various activities just for them. We visited the pumpkin patch and corn maze. I grabbed several bottles of wine for gifts in the gift shop. It was just a bit awkward with COVID-19 being the big thing. The family that operated the snack booth were unfriendly, particularly the male. I went to the side window to get a refill on my lemonade and wasnt acknowledged. I had just witnessed another patron do the same thing. Overall, we had a great time.
Maize valley needs to learn how to put on a concert. Went to see the Ohio weather. Planned on appetizers then dinner and wine. Found out as we sat at the patio that we could not see the band and could barely hear them. What I could hear the band was great. Unfortunately there were only about 20 people sitting on the hill to see them. The people on the patio would have loved to see and hear them but that was not an option for us. Even though we were spending more money at our table then those sitting on the hill. Not smart management here is our view of the band a black tarp
We had a wonderful time with three teenage girls in tow. So much to do for little.ones especially. My husband had the October fest beer and I had pumpkin. Both were fantastic! The food was great also. Loved the pig races and pumpkin fire truck cannon. The pumpkins went about half a mile or so. A perfect fall day and fall festivities! Oh, and the pumpkin donuts! Oh boy!!!
Arrived to this establishment and was happy and atmosphere seemed great up until we started to order. Keep in mind this wasn’t our first time here, we all ordered and my wife mixes the cranberry wine with the sangria. I myself was fond of the ice wine and was planning on taking a case home when the waitress came back and said her manager wouldn’t allow her to over serve us. The manager then came over to us and told us the same even though we told her of the mixing. Very sad day here as we aren’t children and have money to spend and treated like we cannot handle our alcohol. I won’t be back!!
Was in the area for a conference and was able to stop in and check it out! Awesome place! A great selection of wines and beer! Had a seltzer and another one of their beers( I can not remember the name for the life of me!) but it was great! The staff was great and the place had a great feel! The market had all kinds of gifts and snacks that you don’t see all the time! If your in the area check it out! Great date place!
Great place. Great events. Great little country store. Great wine... EXCEPT on Sunday. Their website isnt exactly clear on the we dont have a Sunday license, so we cant sell wine message unless you click their Wine tab. For as many events they do and the revenue they bring in with everything else, they can sure afford a Sunday wine license. We wasted our time trekking out to this winery this past Sunday...45 mins away to be told we can have their beer. Our full intent was to drink wine...at a winery.
Great place with lots to do with the family. We went during a sunflower festival and craft show. Great time until we went inside for dinner. They seriously overcharge you for the food. We would definitely come back more but feel like they take advantage of their customers.
Very happy with the food and wine! The Apple pie wine was delicious. Service was good. Very nice atmosphere. I am giving 5 stars, but I did notice that the front room/market place and bathrooms could have been more cleanly. Looks like the floors needed swept and mopped. Looking forward to coming back for the corn maze.
We were there to support our friend at the lavender festival and wanted to grab some lunch we were put on the wait list and were seated in 15 minutes waiter was prompt and took our order. WE WERE SPLITTING A BURGER. our beer showed up in minutes we sat and chatted for 45 minutes when we noticed we were still hungry tried 4 times to get the attention of our waiter on the 5th attempt he came over to tell us they were really busy and after 55 minutes our meal was still not ready.. We asked to cancel our meal so we could drive half hour to olive garden and finally got to eat
We have not been to maize valley since a horribly overpriced fall festival a few years back, where they nickle and dimed you for everything after you paid the high admission fee.we ventured back went to the craft fair/market and sunflower field today. they had a great vendors at the market.the sunflower field was a RIP OFF. the flowers were in pretty poor condition and they charged you $5 a person to go into the field, something like $3 for 1 flower, $5 for 2 and $10 for a few more. Or you could pony up $20 for a medium size vase where you could fill it up. my the time we made it home i think all the flowers died, even after filling it with water there.we also ate at the restaurant on site. BAD MISTAKE. although the beer and wine were good and well priced, the food was very medicore and ridiculously high priced. $4 for a bottle of minute maid-like lemonade. $4?? $7 for a side salad. seriously? lettuce 4 slices of cucumbers and 3 tomatoes for $7? our entire meal for 4, 2 adults and 2 kids came to $95. very over priced for 2 pizzas, 2 side salads, 2 lemonades, 1 sandwich, 1 salad, flight of beer and glass of wine.we will not make the mistake and return. there is a lovely sunflower patch off high mill in jackson that charges you maybe 5 bucks you to walk through the flowers and take pictures and take home a flower or two. much better!
Horrible place. Said there would be a 15 minute wait for a table, and it took 40+ minutes before we got notified about it. Corn maze sucked too. Food and drinks were too expensive for how bad they were. Whole thing is terrible. Definitely don’t recommend coming here, as I won’t be for the rest of my life.
Nothing to write home about our food (salad and burger) wasn’t worth the price and the service was awful to say the least. Asked for water on two different occasions and was never brought any. The scenery and atmosphere were nice but like most Stark County wineries the experience doesn’t equal the price. My tip reflected our service.
We were there Friday the 20th of August for my daughters wedding dinner and it was pitiful, cold sandwiches, paninis were not hot, very disappointed especially after we spent over 300$ on our party for dinner and charged us 5$ a piece to go take pictures by the sunflowers, shame on them!! And by the way. Sunflower patch was awful! Never again!
We came to your winery, which we have never been to before, and were greeted by Nate. He was very professional, articulate and knowledgeable! He answered all our questions we had and even gave us a brochure about the upcoming fall events. Which we plan on attending by the way. We made our way to the bar area and when we approached the bar Eric helped us, he too was knowledgeable and courteous describing to us about the different wines. Also helped us as we sampled a couple and found what we liked. Ordered our food, which was delicious and reasonably priced. We collect corks and different bottles which he helped us out with as well. He even told us the best time to come there when there would be more corks and different bottles for us! These two young men are truly an asset to this winery as we watched them and others during a very busy time and no one seemed flustered at all! We had a very pleasurable experience and are looking forward to returning in the fall as we live over an hour away. If I lived closer I would be there more often! Thank you!
Great local restaurant, winery and craft brewery! Really nice selection of brews and wine. All brewed on site. Food was very good. Prices were in line with what you would expect. Not cheap. But not very expensive. We were there for the Fall festival and balloon launch. So the wait to order food was very long. But again, I was there for a special event. So that is to be expected. My only suggestion would be to have a samples line for tasting. What took so long to order food was people sampling before placing their order. If on these events they had samples at a separate bar, I think that would have improved the time it took to get to placing my food order. Again, I was there on a busy weekend. So I was not expected super fast service!Only other suggestion (ok, I lied about only one suggestion) would be to have a simple child menu. Hot dog and drink. Grilled Cheese and drinks. Stuff like that. Hot dog was $6. But no drink. Would be nice to throw in soda for the price for kidsOverall great atmosphere to hang out and enjoy some brews and wine.
I was here on 8/17/20. I had the angus burger and ordered a wine flight to share with a friend. The burger was amazing and cooked to perfection. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The wines we tried were equally impressed. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the service we received. It started with a male server who got very snippy when my friend asked for sweet&low. He said they were out because they had a busy weekend. She asked what they do for people who are diabetic. He said “like I said, we had a busy weekend.” She kindly asked him if he could check again. He did and came back with 1 pack. The next issue was trying to get the bill. I literally waited 20 mins to get someone to bring me my check and they were not busy at all. I tried to make eye contact with the gentleman who got irritated about the sweet&low many times and he literally avoided eye contact with me until I put my hand in the air like a child in class to get my check. Unfortunately service is very important to me so based on the service I received I doubt that I’ll return. The awkwardness of the experience made me feel very uncomfortable. Again the food and wine was excellent!
Our family loves going to the fall events at maize valley. The corn maze is awesome every year, all of our kids ages 8 to 13 love it but its fun for all ages. We enjoy the pumpkin patch, watching the pumpkin cannon shows, bouncing on a giant inflatable pumpkin, petting the goats, climbing the many play areas, playing in the mini town and so much more!!!The wine and beer for the adults is great and the food is delicious.
We have been once and the wine and music was fantastic. I definitely would go again next time I am visiting home. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star review is that there were next to no gluten free options on the menu. We brought a couple of bottles of wine to our current state of residence to have at a later time though, it’s great to see solid winery options popping up around Hartville!
I was in town for work and I enjoy visiting breweries so when I came across a vineyard/ brewery I was definitely intrigued. I went there expecting a restaurant, but this place is a lot more than that. You walk into a quasi farmers market with a bar and dining area; they also do different activities but my work schedule didnt allow me to check any of those out.As for the food, reasonably priced and my salad was delicious. Beer was good and I still need to try the wine I bought, but they had a large variety to choose from for both.I was initially thrown off by this not being a restaurant and figuring out how to order everything (there is a sign with instructions- you pick a table and order from the bar). However, overall I had a great experience.
Maize Valley has always been a fantastic place for beer, wine, and delicious food, but today our experience was even better. They are handling the COVID crisis by giving everyone pink cards for when you need service. Put the pink card up and one of many servers come and ask you how they can help. This made for one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had due to the quick response time. I wish every restaurant would do what they have done. Thank you!
The winery, brewery, shop, pumpkin patch, corn maze, all of it were top notch, and the staff were wearing masks and sanitizing play areas all day - but we only observed about 25-30% of visitors wearing masks and no one was asking them to put any on (at least when outside). We loved the place and will hopefully return next year when theres a vaccine. We did buy wine and beer to take home. :)
Tried three of their beers that they brew themselves! All were fantastic!!! The red wine sangria was delicious, and we enjoyed all of the food. They also have goats and you can even buy food for them too. The band, box of squirrels, was great and there was a good deal of seating. It was a fantastic experience all around.
Reviewing the FALL FESTIVAL only: last year (2017) we went in September and had a wonderful time. Our daughter enjoyed climbing the hay bales and the tires / slides. The food was great and we watched the NASHOG races (ducks and pigs). Very entertaining and it was quite crowded. This year, however, (2018) we attended the Fall Festival in October on a Sunday and it was only 45 degrees. Understandably, it was not very well attended. The posted hours were 12-8 pm. But by 6 pm, all the FOOD VENDORS had CLOSED. Even the chairs were removed from the fire pit so we couldnt even sit to keep warm. There was almost nothing left to do but play on the playground in the dark (theres no lighting except the parking lot).We were there for about 1.5 hours and paid $24 for the family. All together not a bad evening but we left pretty disappointed about the food vendors closing 2 hours before closing time.
My husband and I went to the craft dinner last night. We were highly disappointed. It was supposed to be a clambake...we both literally had 2 clams each and being clam lovers we were looking forward to eating clams at a clambake. Although the food was good we couldve had a much better dinner elsewhere for $50/each. The BIGGEST disappointment was the wine. This is a winery, I expected to be served wine...They literally gave you a sip of wine, no more than a $.025 tastingTo put it into perspective, there were at least 50 people there. They brought out 4 bottles per course - thats it!! Now there were about 8 people who chose beer and they got 5 oz. glasses, which is still on the small side for a pairing dinner. But after 5 courses I wouldnt have even had the equivalent of 1 glass of wine!! And I had to skip one sip b/c I do not like Reislings and asked for a sampling of the previous wine...which didnt happen! Highly disappointed!! Ive been to many wine pairing dinners and this ranks at the very bottom of the barrel for me!
So we get there and my daughter plays on the playground equipment they have and goes on the tractor train. She had a blast. Now for the not so good info...many of the features do not take cards. The hayride does not include stopping at the pumpkin patch, it only goes around the property. If you want to go in the pumpkin patch you must take a wheel barrow yourself and go get it and then pay for it. No one is actually standing with the pumpkins that are for sale in the outside areas. My kid had a great time but inconvenience in many other areas
We have been to Maize Valley in the fall when they were super busy, and in the winter when they were not very busy, and weve never been disappointed. Very friendly/courteous staff, reasonable prices, food that we would rate between good and very good, depending on what you order, and many locally made and sourced food and products showcasing Ohio pride. The craft beers and wines we would rate good to excellent. I am not sure I can pick one just word for what to call this place...it is a Restaurant, Bar, Winery, outdoor corn maize, and biggest of all the fall harvest festival with plenty of activities for all ages. This is an authentic Ohio gem, and is a good place to be a tourist in your own backyard, or to bring your out-of-town guests.
Not really a wine drinker but they have good selection of craft beer which I enjoy. Food is ok, from what I have tried, pizza is pretty good. My family and friends always enjoy the fall festival each year. If you have never been to the valley before I would recommend going during their fall festival, it can be a little busy some nights but it is fun.
Wonderful local winery that crafts their own beer as well. Live music on the weekend is always good. Food is delicious. There are goats and chickens up on the hill so even the kids (and kid at heart) have a good time! Put it on your list. Oh and, Monk in Public, you gotta try it.
Usually nice, except for today. We came here to get an appetizer and beverages after Lavender picking. My younger cousins and I got Sierra Mist and it was expired. It’s the beginning of July 2020, and they gave us 1 that expired in the middle of December 2019 and the other that had expired in the beginning of January 2020. Pretty disappointed.
We stopped in at 3:30 this afternoon thinking of a couple sandwiches and their excellent beers. While reviewing the menu the young man behind the service counter says to me hey bud what do you need. I found this to be very disrespectful, I am 64 years old and certainly do not appreciate being hailed as hey bud. We left without purchase and though we may only stop here a few times a year we generally have a sizable bill. Your loss as well as ours as we did favor the beers and wines here. We found much more respectful service at the Winking Lizard in North Canton.
Was so excited for your breakfast with Santa event. What a disappointment! I would NEVER recommend this event at your facility unless certain things are changed. How can you justify an event like this geared toward children and not have highchairs or booster seats available. Try being a parent of a toddler and sitting at a very small bistro table (not very practical).Nothing was organized! Didnt realize food was available or even the location of the buffet without asking someone. You would think the event coordinators or hostesses would be hands on and welcoming to guests. To anyone who is planning on attending this event do your research and choose another facility with this event.
We frequent Maize Valley a lot. They have a new system for ordering and getting a table. I followed it to the letter and while away from my table marked “occupied,” someone took my table due to the waitress’s error removing the card while wiping the table then handing my occupied card to another party looking to claim “my” table. I confronted the people when I returned not knowing what had transpired, and a man from another table jumped in defending the table stealers. It was all quite embarrassing, and I had to track down my food order as two of us had given the same table number with our orders. We joined some friends as no other tables were available at that point. I think the new system needs some work. It turned a nice evening into an embarrassment. (Our friends saw me claim the table as well before it was stolen!). Normally they are between a 4 and 5, but this left a very bad taste.
I have mixed feelings about Maize Valley... The food is fantastic! No doubt about that, and the employees are very kind. However, overall, service and organization is an issue. Ive been there twice now and each time I went, it was very unclear what I was supposed to do (and yes, I read the sign about how seating and ordering works). Theres two lines where you can order from and several other people waiting in line were asking, Does it matter which line were in? Im confused, and I felt the exact same way. Then another guest said, Well, this line is typically for drinks and that line is for food, but I think you can order anything at both. Now everyone waiting was even more confused. If customers are guessing about what to do and are confused and giving out incorrect information, then obviously there needs to be more clear instructions and better signage. Also, the line was ridiculously long both times I went and then it also took way too long to receive our food. This most recent time, we waited in line for a while and then we decided that it wasnt worth it, so we were going to leave. We did want to purchase fudge though, so we waited at that counter for 5 minutes and not one employee looked our way once. Maybe the counter wasnt open, but there wasnt any signage. Was an employee supposed to be watching that counter? We got really frustrated after wasting 20 minutes inside Maize Valley and another 40 minutes driving (20 minutes to Maize Valley, then 20 minutes home). What a waste of time. I think more organization is needed within the employees so everyone has a clearer idea of what they should be doing, because even the employees look confused as theyre frantically running around. Also, better organization, better signage, and better directions may help to speed up service.
Took my friends here tonight as a surprise and waited over an hour in line to order drinks and food. Are you guys serious? Would it really hurt to hire more people to help out behind the counter? We were extremely unhappy having to wait all night in line. Get more help! I know you guys can’t be hurting for money.
Maize Valley is consistently one of my first-choices for great local wines and craft brews. Plus some of the most unique and delicious food that pairs so well with it. I would argue taste, quality and value is better than that of a far more expensive venue that touts itself as Stark Countys destination of choice. The cold weather this evening made for enjoying some dry reds, plus their holiday brew, Porter, and of course my favorite, Monk in Public! Celeste and Scott were phenomenal as well. Celeste is newer, but a welcome addition to the MV team. If I see them, Nata or Cara working I know it will be a good evening, with such great service and an experience to match. Do yourself a favor and just go there.
If you want rude staff and disinfectant spayed in you and your children’s face this is the place for you. The disinfectant is more harmful to your health than the germs!Masks required almost everywhere and all play areas not open!Go to Iron Mills in PA if you want fun!
This is the best fall experience weve had yet. Weve got a 2 year old and a 9month old. Actually picking your own pumpkins from a patch after taking a hay ride. And the pumpkin cannon impressed me more than I expected. Chickens, pig races, farm style playground, goats, food. We went in morning and it was not crowded.
The wine that Maize Valley makes is great. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is one of my favorites. Their food is also very good along with the cheeses that they carry. I am working there, doing woodworking for Ogonek and I go into the store about everyday and get something. I will still go there even when I work there is finished.
We have been to Maize Valley a few times now. The fall festivities are fun for all ages and the market and restaurant are good as well. We travel 3 hours from Johnstown Pa to go and well worth the trip. Everyone is friendly and farmer Bill is a character. We willl definitely be back again.
I used to frequent Maize Valley, but will never again after today. Stood at the deli counter for over 15 minutes with no one there for service, I asked for help and continued to wait with nobody helping me! Dont sell deli products if you cant hire enough staff to run it! This is the second time this has occurred in the past two weeks.
Had a great time at the adult Easter egg hunt there were some adults who took more than 10 eggs shame on you, and then you had the ones that were shaking the eggs and throwing them back down because you thought it only had candy in it, well just so you know some of those you threw down for nice door prices thank you Maize Valley for a great evening
Very upset need to update hours and when someone calls workers should be trained when asked assnot hours to give correct hours says 9 online was told 9 drive 40 minutes got there 801 was told sorry we are closed went in was gone spend over 60 now not sure I wanna waste my time to drive back again

2022-06-08Actually came here for a car show. Beautiful place, nice indoor and outdoor spaces. A store with different meats, beers, and wines. Both beers we tried tasted excellent, and the food was very good as well. We will return to try different menu items and beers.

2021-09-12What a nice little place. We went during the car show which was really nice. The atmosphere here is very relaxed. The food and service at the restaurant was very good. The staff was very friendly and made our whole family feel welcome. The beer and wine selection was very good and the patio was the perfect place to spend a cool afternoon early evening. The kids loved the goats and chickens and spent a good amount of time on the playground exploring the tires and slides. They loved it and are excited to plan our next trip out there. Overall, a great time and we will definitely head back.

2022-06-03Very spacious location with a great variety of beer and wine! I drank the best Vanilla Porter I’ve ever had here. If you’re into dark beer ending on a sweet vanilla note, I highly recommend

2021-07-10The food is much like the Pine Barn in Wooster, except this place is in my own back yard! Menu is great. Food is great! Wine choices are great! We came during the Lavender Festival & Makers Market. We toured all the booths as a guitar man performed on the grassy knoll. We ventured into the lavender field with my daughter who had a birthday today and took many pics of her in her lavender dress cutting a lavender bunch to take home. It was magical for this dads heart. Maize Valley has many, many activities throughout the year. Next one up, the Sunflower Festival! I highly recommend this place in Stark County.

2021-07-30This was a very fine winery located just outside of Hartville. Everything was just what I read on the review page. Wines are excellent and tasted like the descriptions they had of them. The atmosphere was fun and laid back. I could see having kids there would be nice for them. Many outdoor things to see and do. The food was alright. I ordered the BOB burger it was extremely well done. I would still go back and have a good time.

2022-06-05The place where the customer is never wright. You never want to question Scott about theskimpy portions of meat in a sandwich. Had aSouthwest turkey sandwich with about slice and a half ofwafer thin turkey and was told they weight every portion. He seems to think we always complain. Really just tiredof being ripped off. Used to be regular customers buthavent been there since late summer last year and willprobably never go again. Live just down the road and usedto frequent the place regularly but it seems they dont carefor our business. I see other posts where people rave aboutthe awesome sandwiches they got. It had been a long timesince I had what I would call anything near decent. It wont evenlet me post this unless I give it at least one star. How bad is that ?

2022-05-22Things have changed... Food is still great and wine is fine, but the fact that the service policy has changed since a year ago and their administration is not consistant. We talked with 4 different servers all the same night and got 4 different answers. A rainy night for the evening changed a few moments, but should not have changed how everyone was serviced. We were all very frustrated, buwe still got to drink wine...
