Beyond impressed!! This was my first visit and I cannot say enough about this place. The food was phenomenal. The service was friendly and quick. The thing that impressed me the most was how clean it was. I grew up in a family owned restaurant so I noticed right away! The place was spotless! You just do not see that anymore! Bravo...cannot wait to go back!
Great place to eat! The only slight issue, they didnt have kids breakfast menus. They gave them the lunch/dinner menu. It was 10am, so we were there to eat breakfast. We asked about breakfast for the kids and she said 2 options were available both being pancakes. I dont know if this is typical. It wasnt a huge problem, just found it to be odd. Our service and food were both great.
We went with friends for breakfast and the food was very good. Portions large and lots of butter on the toast....the way I like it!! The wait person was so friendly and had a nice smile too that made us all feel welcome. I highly recommend it. Price was what youd expect. Enjoy!!
I really hate to write this review. Had dinner there last night. . my companion and i ordered their specials. the strip steak and seafood platter. The seafood platter consisted on one piece of fish, 5 shrimp and 4 scallops and a small sweet potato. the Steak was a nice size piece of meat, mashed potatoes and a salad. The piece of fish was all curled up from being overcooked. had to saw at with a knife to cut it. the shrimp were small, not juicy and also over cooked. the Scallops were rubbery and fishy smelling. The Steak was full of gristle and fat. the mashed potatoes were not well prepared instant and covered with a glob of canned gravy that was congealed on top of them because it was cold. Had one piece of pie for desert which was delicious. Total price before tip was almost $42.00. Was going to say something to the manager who was running the register until I saw her nasty attitude with the customer checking out before me. Have eaten there for over 40 years and have watched it sink lower and lower. will never return
This is a Mom and Pop type of restaurant. It looks like the old cafeteria style places..The prices and food both were very good. Our kids got the chicken quesadillas and they looked amazing. My hubby got the grilled chicken with mushrooms and swiss..coleslaw and salad..I got the sampler and fried cauliflower..it was all good..I highly recommend this restaurant.
Hadnt been to Lyn way for a while, as we dont go Ashland way to often! We had a great waitreas, a great appetizer, and great meals, very delicious! We will be going back Ashland way more often in order to go to Lyn Way for their great meals! The only thing I was disappointed with was the price of the pies!! I used to be in Ashland quite often as i bought from Ashland Pump and Supply, just down the street from the old small resturant that only held 40 peoole or so, and we would stand in line to get in at lunch time and always finished off our lunch with a piece of delicious pie! Since then whenever we come in for dinner, I have always had one of the great pies for dessert, but last night after finishing our dinners we decided to go without our pie, as the price per piece of pie is close to the price of buying a half of a pie elsewhere! Just couldnt pay $5.39 for a slice of pie w/ice cream or the $4 plus for s slice! That was the only disappointmebt i had! We will be back for the great meals anyway, as its a great place to dine!
Plentiful seating. Accommodating to groups. Plenty of parking. A nice park next door if you would want to take out & watch your kids play. This restaurant is known for their homemade pies which include sugarless too. Can top it with sugarless ice cream. A favorite eatery amongst the local senior citizens.
If I had to summarize the food with one word, it would be mediocre. To begin, the french fries were a soggy, under-seasoned pile of sadness. My dog was the only one who liked them, but keep in mind that she normally eats what amounts to dehydrated meatloaf pellets. Admittedly, very few restaurants actually make good french fries. With that being the case, I looked to the chicken tenders for redemption. Unfortunately, there was no redemption to be found. The chicken tenders were somewhat dry and composed of nearly 50% breading, which was thick, rubbery and bland. The coleslaw was a standard diner affair: nothing to complain about, but not memorable by any means. All in all, similar results could be achieved with equivalent items from the frozen food section at any big box grocery store, but at half the cost.
My husband and I were on our way home to Xenia from Cleveland and were looking for a restaurant to stop in for dinner. I did a Google search for restaurants and Lyn-Way was at the top of the ratings. We were greeted nicely at the door and shown to a booth. The staff are all wearing masks, some tables are blocked, and they were meticulous about cleaning the tables, menus, etc. I had a bourbon burger and it was very good. The burger bun was super fresh and I didnt ask, but it seemed to be homemade. The service was top notch, and our server was super friendly and I overheard that she has been at the Lyn-Way for 40 years. That in itself says something about the establishment! Their dutch apple pie was very good and the ice cream was super creamy. I do believe that I have found a new favorite place to stop in Ashland. No more stopping at the Oasis for me! :-) Thank you Lyn-Way for everything!
Needed to get out of the house. Drove from Columbus to try them out. Not disappointed!!! Best open faced turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy I’ve ever had!!!!They followed all COVID guidelines. Planning another visit next week but this time getting another meal to-go!!! So darn good 😋😋😋😋
EXCELLENT from start to finish. Starting with the sweet tea. Our meals were delicious and hot. Got exactly what we ordered. Recommend the liver and onions or the pork chops. Fried potatoes were cooked just right.( Not burnt or undercooked ) Dessert was AWESOME. Server was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend to make it and place to go!!!!
Skip the chain restaurants in town and check out this place. Service is friendly and fast. Food is good, actually tastes homemade. Prices are low and portions are a good size. They advertise homemade pie; dont leave without a slice. Im picky about pie and this was delicious. We ordered buckeye pie; next time Im in town, Im ordering a whole pie to go.
Yummy food and awesome staff! Love the home cooked meal feeling. We go there so much the staff knows us personally. Everyone takes care of us when we come in the door. Would recommend anyone go here. (Love the cream of chicken over mashed potatoes, grilled cheese with tomato, and the soup is always good!)
Very good place to take the whole family. I highly recommend the pies, as they are far better than the food. That is not to say the food is bad. Not super crowded, but it could be if there is an event in Ashland. Bathroom are clean and the staff is friendly. 7/10 I recommend 👍
The food was excellent, the service was even better. I can not believe that such a little place is this freaking good, I had the Reuben. It was to die for it was better than a lot of places that Ive been to. That was surprising. Because I am a chef myself, so Im usually very picky. My fiance had the shredded chicken sandwich. And the sweet potato fries. We will be back. If you are ever driving around dont think twice about coming to this place you should get here.
We stopped at this place for dinner one night as you were traveling through. I like looking for a locally-owned place as I travel, and at home, and the food and service in this place were excellent. But I was disappointed with the pies that they advertise and tell you about with such excitement. None of them are made with fresh fruit. Its all packaged of some sort. I think they said one of the pies is made from scratch but they didnt have any that night. My sister got a piece and said it was okay nothing special. I opted for no dessert, because I found out that they didnt have fresh fruit in them. But I was also full because the meal came with a huge portion. So go for the meals, and the desert is up to you.I do still plan on stopping for a meal again at this place, even though its a couple of few miles from the highway, it was worth it.
Ive been to Lyn-Way several times with family and have always loved the fresh, homemade food at decent prices. However, I went last week for the first time since having my baby. We had him in a car seat and as usual, we asked for a booth so that he could sit beside me in his car seat. The hostess asked if we wanted a high chair or sling, and I said we didnt really need either. She brought a sling to our table and when I told her I was just going to let my baby sit next to me in the booth she replied that We dont like that, it rips the seat covers. and we use slings for booths too. She made my leave my baby in the busy walkway on the end of our table with lots of people walking by constantly. I do understand that they do not want their property damaged, but I have never seen a car seat rip a seat cover on a booth... not sure how that would happen. The way they handled this made me feel like they care more about their seat covers than they do about their customers needs and requests. Yes, I know my baby was not harmed by having to sit in a sling. It was just the way the hostess handled it that was disappointing. I am not as likely to recommend this place to friends and family anymore.
Love it! what can you say.I had a conglomeration of hash browns couple eggs over easy biscuit and sausage gravy covering Vicki said its called the haystack its not on the menu but it sure is yummy.Vicki our waitress was very nice.we went to Amish Country yesterday and eight at the biggest restaurant there and this was ten times better.
Im not picky by any means and dont like to complain but definitely disappointing!! Ordered fried chicken and it tasted like they boiled it for 20-25 minutes, battered it in plain flour then deep fried it for another 10 minutes or so (no taste and meat was... ? I dont even know how to describe it). We had 4 people in our group and nobody liked what they ordered. There wasnt enough salt and pepper on the table to try to get any flavor, I had ask for a bottle of Tabasco and even then it wasnt good enough. Hopefully they improve, dont like giving a bad review to a hometown business but Evedently they dont care about what they are serving customers ... I hear their pies taste good tho...
I worked at Lyn-way for about a year when I was younger... I promise you this is Theee CLEANEST Restaurant Ive ever been in. Try the Peanut Butter Pie, Buckeye Pie, Dutch Peach warmed with Ice Cream, or if in season the Strawberry Pie is Amazing. Vickie and Judy are my Favorite servers there. You wont be disappointed... also, Janet was one of the best Bosses Ive ever had. :)
Passing through the area to visit Amish area. Stopped based on reviews. Big mistake. Saddest salad ever, just lettuce with one slice of tomato. Walleye dinner portion was sparse and average in taste. Grandson had mac and cheese. Eight ounces priced out at $8.00. For a child?? Wont ever be back and looking forward to eating a much better meal tomorrow at Der Dutchman.
Good food, good prices, great pie! We travel 57 minutes once or twice a year to buy several of their delicious pies to take home and freeze. We place an order 2-3 days before, then ride out to Ashland to pick them up and have some lunch while were there. Food and menu reminiscent of a grill/diner, but prices, portions, and service are good......and dont forget about the pie!
I dont generally leave bad reviews but I was not impressed at all. To start with the salad I got was just a handful of the cheap bagged salad mix you get at the grocery store tossed on the plate with one piece of tomato. The Chicago burger which was recommended by the waitress was terrible. It tasted like the burgers I used to get in the school cafeteria with some A-1 slapped on it. I will however say they waffle fries were good but the obviously came frozen and all they had to do was drop them in the fryer. The parking lot is full every time I have driven by so I thought I would check it out. When I got in the restaurant about 90% the crowd was seniors who I would assume at this point go there out of habit than the quality of the food. I wasted $16 on this meal and would have been better off going to Wendys or whatever for my lunch. If you have fond memories of your high school cafeteria then I recommend this place as the quality appears to be the same. Save your time and money go elsewhere for your meals.
I found an auto-generated 3 star review when I got to the Reviews, but my real review is 1 star. The food here is merely OK - like McDonalds quality. The service was terrible. The waitress pressured me 3 times to order while I was reading the menu. She put the check on the opposite side of the table. After I waited 5 minutes for her to pick up the credit card, she gave me the late news that I should take it to a cash register that I could not see. She turned her eyes and body and said sorry with no empathy or politeness. This is not a 5 star restaurant. Something is odd about all those reviews. Are they auto-generated like the one I found with my name on it ???
My family ate here and there were mostly no complaints, country fried steak was good, hamburger steak was good, macaroni and cheese-good, grilled chicken with cheese and mushrooms and salad-good, chicken nuggets-good, hamburger-good. Fried chicken was bland. Side of macaroni salad was sickly sweet, I tried to eat it, but-impossible. Coleslaw-ate more of that than the macaroni salad, but not by much. Apple pie crust was soft but not flaky, kind of turned to paste in your mouth as you chewed it-edible but we didnt care for it. All in all we would go there again, most of what we had was good, but would avoid some menu items.
We were both disappointed with our meals. My open face roast beef was tough and stringy, fake tasting gravy, instant mashed potatoes, cold mixed vegetables. Husbands alaskan pollock was too salty, and dry. Was going to get pie, but after the food, we just wanted to escape. The staff, however, was fantastic. Maybe we should have complained, but just wanted to leave. Wont be back.
Whenever we are in Ashland, we make it a point to go to Lyn-Way, usually for lunch. The atmosphere is friendly with a family feeling, a restaurant where everybody knows your name, to borrow a phrase from TV.It is small-town fare with a small-town price, but great quality in its menu offerings. If you are looking for uber-healthy offerings, this is not your kind of place. There are lots of sauces and gravies over various meats, along with burgers and other typical restaurant dishes.Be warned, though - eat light enough that you have room for dessert. Lyn-Way has a great reputation for fantastic pies, and there is usually a great selection of both fruit and cream pies. These are not like the chain that pushes their unbelievable pies. Those are so loaded with sugar it tastes like youre eating sugar straight from a bowl. Lyn-Ways pies have flaky crusts, delicious well-seasoned fillings, and just an overall taste treat.Lyn-Way is an experience, not just a restaurant. Oh, and did I mention they have great pies?
My wife and I just ate at the Lyn way again. My wife had a dirty water glass. Chicken fingers were over cooked. While we were eating, another couple complained their food was cold, I heard the server telling the cook in the back, Put this in the microwave, and heat it up. Disgusting! Well never eat there again. Just another place to cross off the list. No pride. They dont care. Dont care what the owner says!
Way too expensive for the quality of the food and restaurant in general. We paid $8 for a kids serving of mac n cheese. The food is mediocre dinner food, and they should charge about half of what they do for it. If you want a nice family dinner, visit Mansfield Family Restaurants (2 locations) in Mansfield. We can feed our family of 4 for less than $25 there. Lyn-Way should take some cues from them.
Update: While I love this place, I was really surprised the other day that their kid menu changed prices. Almost $8.00 for Mac & Cheese??! I actually asked if it was a typo. I used to always boast about Lyn Ways prices. What happened here? Who thought that was a good idea?? I understand having to raise some prices, but for something that I can make for .50 and can even get at Cedar point for $5, this was ridiculous. I have to take away a star.Original Review: When we were looking to move to Ashland 15 years ago our Realtor brought us here. She knew what she was doing, it was so homey and friendly. We have been going there ever since. The food is a lot of your deep fried kind of goodness. Their pies are awesome. Everyone is so friendly and tend to remember you and your preferences. Our families all ask to go here when they visit, even for just pie. We dont usually get to go here for breakfast, but this last time we did and even that is great. Between the portion and price, I would say that Lynway is the best place in Ashland for breakfast.
So i normaly go there to pick up pie for my husband and others.which is awsome.so tonight we decided to eat as a family there.food was ok.my salad look like it came out of a bag and thrown on the plate.there french dressing was not very good. The other food we had wasnt bad but when i got my bill is when i was in shock.my daughter had order from the kids menu .all she got was a very small portion of mac and chess. I mean veey small and some fries.i was charged 7.00 for that.the other food prices were high too.it was ok food but not worth over 50.00 .i will only be going there to get there pie from now on. Was not very impressed.
We went for breakfast which we had never done before. I ordered pancakes and sent them back because they were gross. Got French toast instead and it wasnt much better but at least edible. We will not go back for breakfast again. I give it two stars Instead of one because at least they took the pancakes off my bill.
In restaurant about 8pm, only 2 or 3 people there...waitress loudly says Well I WAS going home early, until THIS guy showed up. Tried ordering 2 different meals, only to be told neither was available. Usually servers start out saying whats not available. Instead of waiting till its ordered. Reuben sandwich was ok, but small for the price charged. Too expensive, poor service. Wont be back. Too many other places in area to choose from.
I sat at the counter and watched as the cashier took money and then handled the clean silverware (to roll it up in napkins for use by patrons) without washing her hands. It made me uncomfortable, so I mentioned it to her, but she didnt seem concerned. It really put me off of eating my meal, because if the cashier handles money and then handles clean silverware, what are they doing in the kitchen? Hopefully they have better hygiene practices there.Anyway, I ordered a luau chicken salad and during the course of ordering I mentioned to the waitress, who was very friendly, that I couldnt eat any gluten. She neglected to advise me that the luau chicken salad I was ordering (a special that I had seen on the board but was not in the menu) was covered with crispy chow mein noodles (wheat-based, gluten-filled bits of death for me). When my meal came out I had to send it back and have it redone because I cant risk eating something thats been touching all that wheat. The waitress was apologetic but it makes me wonder about the training... I mean, if the hand washing is that lackadaisical, do they even bother to train about food allergies?Maybe Im overly sensitive and aware because as part of my job I have had to undergo the training that is required for food service employees. Maybe theres no risk in germs getting from someones money to my mouth due to poor or non-existant hand washing. And maybe, the reason I hurt so badly today is because just maybe they didnt replace the entire salad like they said they did. Maybe they didnt remake the grilled chicken part and maybe they just scraped the crispy chow mein noodles off the top of the chicken... After all, the supposedly freshly grilled chicken was cold when it came out and, once again, if they are that relaxed about hand washing, how do I know that theyre taking my dietary intolerances seriously?Besides that, they are very expensive for what you get. I know a lot of people will not like this review because the LynWay restaurant is an Ashland landmark. It has been around for a long time and many people know where it is and thats a good thing. I just think they should take modern, up-to-date health and safety laws and regulations more seriously. Also, if a patron points something out to a server or cashier quietly and respectfully, that patron expects the server or cashier to respond respectfully and not flippantly. Just saying.
I use to live in Sullivan and Galion but moved to Arizona. I just HAD to go eat at Lyn way because Ive never had anything I didnt like and their homemade pies yum yum.love the buckeye, butterscotch, pumpkin and coconut creme is sooooooooooooooo good. 5 stars all the way and the service is great. Each girl who has waited on us have been over and above on their service only wish we had that In az.
We visited Lyn-way on a very special day. Their67th anniversary. I came back home 🤗 Ive been away for57 years. A LOT has changed, but NOT the Lyn-ways fantastic food, unbearable service,or their amazingly awesome PIES,AND CAN YOU BELIEVE it? Only $2.67 and coffee $.67. (anniversary prices)

2019-03-03Just happened to find this place coming back from Cleveland. Great food. Great service. My son and I had the country fried steak, my wife had the open faced roast beef, and my daughter had the Cleveland club sandwich. Potato skins for an appetizer. All of us were extremely happy with our selections. This never happens. Loved this place. Wish we would have had room to try the pies. Very reasonable pricing on everything.

2022-04-21I ordered the liver and onions my lady had the steak special seasoned with garlic parmesan. The liver was tasty but small portion. The steak was pale grey exterior and pink center chewy and bland. Desert was ho hum I got the peach pie and ice cream and the peaches were hard and flavorless. We dont plan revisiting.

2020-08-17We were in the area to pick up an order and had some time to waste. Thought we would support a local family restaurant. Server was very friendly and attentive. Food is reasonably priced and delicious. If we are ever in the area again we will stop back in!

2019-04-17Picking up my daughter at AU today, and wanted to grab a lunch before shes done school, so I came here. And am I glad I did.The staff was super friendly and helpful, and my order came out quickly.I ordered the BLT (with an extra serving of bacon ... ;-) ...you can see it poking out from under the slices of bread) and white country gravy (which was great with the fries!). The coffee was good too, strong just like I like it. A simple lunch, but so good. Will definitely return next time Im in Ashland, maybe will come by dinner.

2022-03-30I hate to write this review, My family and I have been a loyal customer for many years to this resturant, and they have been given us their birthday cards that offers free dinners. But yes I know it is only on dine in only, but a few times the manger Rob has given it to us for take out cause I have explained that my wife is is handicap now and barely can come into the resturant anymore. But as loyal customers of the community we order food there often. I take it home to my wife because she has breathing issues and her mobility issues as well, she can not get out to often. He has let us even before the pandemic hit, so I do not even see the big deal? I am spending my money as everyone else. But still a loyal customer that has loved that resturant for many years, and so has our family members for many years. I just dont understand what is the big deal anyways? Even if we come in or take out our food, as we still spend our money there to the resturant. But it is ashame now that I will take my buisness else where because they wont offer it? Since they only offer those birthday cards onces a year. Well then I say then they should stop doing those birthday cards period. What if the person is really handicap and cant make it in to eat, and has one of those birthday cards? So we are now canceled our dinners and now taking our buisness else where to eat, and its a shame they made us to change our minds and loose our buisness. Now they blame it that the pandemic is over they are not honoring that process.Well they lost our buisness as local loyal customers for many years.
