Super friendly staff, absolutely beautiful river! We took the Loveland castle adventure and it was wonderful. I had my own kayak and my friends took a tandem kayak. Very affordable prices! We got to see so many baby ducks!!! I look forward to kayaking with Loveland Canoe & Kayak again!
We booked a trip for a work event and was so excited to go. When we got there they checked our bags and told us we couldn’t have alcohol so we can not go on. Which I completely understand and we were okay with but instead of him just saying something politely he said we wouldn’t get a refund and started acting rude towards us. If only they could learn better costumer service then I would recommend.
I havent been here in a long time. We used to go when we were kids when it was Bruces canoe rental.Id like that theyve switched to kayaks, its a lot easier to navigate the frequently shallow waters and/or overall just more comfortable sit in.If youre looking for a Midwestern canoeing experience, this is your place.
Absolutely hands down the BEST kayak rental and dealer in the state. I am SO beyond grateful for my experience with Loveland Canoe and Kayak. Mark and his team are so down to earth, provided me with some serious top notch service, and I cannot praise them enough. I am so excited for what the summer holds. He took such great time and care with me today as I purchased my first kayak and I am just blown away. This is a company owned my good people, with good hearts, and love for the river. My experience today made me feel proud to support such an awesome local business.
We ordered two kayaks from Loveland Canoe & Kayak and are thrilled with their customer service! From the call to put down payment on our order, the communication throughout and especially pick up! We picked up this Saturday and the team did an amazing job of educating us and helping us load (for the first time) our new kayaks on our trailer. They were incredibly patient and educational in explaining everything we needed to succesfully and safely haul our boats (really above and beyond our expectations!). They walked through all the questions we had on our kayaks and helped us pick out paddles. We cant wait to kayak with them when the waters warms up (HUGE bonus to buying with them, aside from supporting local of course, they offer free transport for the summer).
They stop sending out at noon on a saturday. We drove 2 hours to get there and were denied. They also said that we could not use our own inflatable kayaks and just pay for the bus ride. We went out and got river floats for those in my group that didnt have an inflatable kayak and still went out on the river. But staff was really rude.
8/27/20I came here with my friend and her son and we went kayaking for the day. We made reservations yesterday as it’s required per the website along with filling out a safety form. It cost $30 to rent a kayak for the day. We were out for 6 hours with ours. I didn’t realize this water way would take us to the Loveland castle, which was a nice surprise as we got to explore that as well. Highly recommend this place if you plan to explore the castle while kayaking out here. It’s so worth it! Beautiful views, the water is pretty easy, some rocky areas but overall a great kayak experience! The staff at this location were very friendly and helpful as well.
So much fun! I went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I can highly recommend this place. Nice friendly and helpful staff on the phone and in person. A well organized experience from the online booking to the check in, shuttle ride, put-in and takeout. Beautiful, wide, tree-lined river. A few mild rapids. Good equipment! The sit-on-top kayak was easy to maneuver and quite stable. Water does splash and pool inside this type of kayak, so it helps to wear quick-drying clothes as well as shoes that are OK to get wet. Such a relaxing and fun time. Would definitely go back.
This business uses public parking in Loveland and puts in at the Carl A. Rahe public access point, but will not allow access to and from the river on their property. Our group rented 5 kayaks from them and we had two additional personal kayaks. At the end of the trip they would not allow access for the two personal kayaks. Very rude considering we rented kayaks for the afternoon and they rely on a public parking and a public access point to be able for run their business.
Great experiencing kayaking with Loveland Canoe & KayakPeople wore masks and practiced social distancing while waiting to get onto the bus and on the bus (parties were sat in every other row and windows were all open). Kayaks were set up in groups for each party so folks were distanced when getting into the water. Thanks for doing your best to keep us all safe and stop the spread!Ill definitely be back :)
They were super friendly, very clean and required face masks on the bus ride to put in. The river was perfect, mostly calm with a few quicker spots, and really shallow - we probably could have waded the whole way even. Lots of families, some solo kayakers, everyone went at their own pace, just a great time.
Awesome experience. I recently purchased a kayak from Loveland Canoe and Kayak and I am very appreciative of the staffs kindness and helpfulness throughout the whole process, especially Mark and Nate. Their helpfulness didnt stop at the sale and they, along with the rest of the staff, spent a lot of time making sure we got out on the water and had a great time. They were so busy when we arrived but never made us, or anyone else we saw, feel like just another customer. Special attention to detail was paid by this store and if you ever want to get into kayaking or canoeing, please stop by here. Best staff with best equipment, hands down.
I made a reservation for me, my wife, and our 6 year old son. We signed up for the 10a.m. group on a Sunday. It was packed with people when we got there -- a middle school Cross County team of maybe 60 people had a reservation, too. So it was them, us, and a couple other people. I was wondering if this large group would affect our experience, but it was actually fine. Got there, signed in, got our paddles, and got on the buses with everyone else. They drove us a few miles upriver and dropped us at the riverside, where there were plenty of canoes. It was a self-guided river tour, so from that point we did whatever we wanted. We paddled, stopped, had lunch, paddled, swam, paddled, went to the Loveland Castle, paddled, floated, paddled, floated, and eventually returned the canoe to the rental place. It was really fun and easy. Highly recommend.
This was my first time kayaking and Ioved it! I already made reservations again. It was a quick check in and you watch a safety video, take a bus to the spot and take off. It was very relaxing and you can go as slow and fast at you like. And the other thing I really liked was if the whole group doesn’t check in, they will look for you. Definitely recommend this place!
Nice canoe and kayak rental place. You come here to get paddles, vests, and the like. They then bus you to a launch point 5 miles up river and you paddle your way back.During our visit, the river was very low so we got stuck on rocks a few times. Overall though, we had a good time and the experience is a good one.
Came in today to purchase a kayak and received tremendous service from Joey and the crew here. It was a very busy day for rentals but they balanced the time well and ensured we had every chance to check out the kayaks we were interested in. It was great getting to demo the kayaks out on the water and the staff was knowledgeable and willing to offer up advice.
This route is adorable. There are 3 rope swings (so bring a bathing suit and be sure to check the depth of the water) and it passes right by Loveland Castle. If you start down here for your day then you can easily walk to excellent food after. you can park down in the public parking for a full day of activities and fun. The staff is wonderfully helpful and I was able to really enjoy this easy 5 mile route.
Wish they would make younger people with no kids or dog climb to the back of the van when hauling us all down to the water though. Its always the 20 somethings who grab the easy seats and I had a 6 yr old and small cooler (and dog last year) to lug to the very back which wasnt easy. But overall I love going every year!
Highly recommend! We had a great time floating down the river on the 5 mile Castle run. The equipment was in good condition and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We hardly ever paddled, so it took us about 4 hours or so. We stopped at the Loveland Castle and ate lunch outside the grounds. Be aware that in order to actually tour the castle, you will have to pay to do it. Looking forward to the next canoe day though!
I’ve spent many summer days enjoying a relaxing paddle down the little Miami river, it couldn’t of been done without the help of Loveland canoe & kayak, everyone is always so willing to help and assist. I would recommend anyone taking a family outing or just wanting to go for an afternoon adventure. It’s also a great option for groups- you will definitely enjoy the experience.
We had a rather large group of people renting kayaks starting at an access on the little Miami up near Landen, we had at least 8 rented kayaks but for those of us that had our own kayaks we just met them up at the river access and left our vehicle there where they were being shuttled to with the intent of getting drove back up by someone in our party to retrieve our vehicle after we get to Loveland canoe and kayak. Upon arriving at the shoreline at Loveland canoe and kayak, us kayak owners were told that we had to pay $10 just to pull our kayaks on shore! at this point I was extremely frustrated because when we made these plans this was never mentioned when we clearly stated some of us would be bringing our own kayaks, not to mention some of us didnt even have money on us so it would be impossible to pay the fee anyway, which I could almost see paying it if they took my equipment out of the water loaded it up and shuttled us back to the vehicle, but 10 bucks for us just leave them there and go get our own vehicle no way! So unfortunately we had two options, paddle one mile Downriver to a public access or paddle 1/4 Mile upriver to a public park, which is what we did and load up there. I totally get they have to make money to pay for the grounds and such but thats just ridiculous, we had a large group of paying customers with just a couple of us having our own equipment. I wonder if they pay to use the public access upriver when theyre making profit?????
Will never come to this place again!! Came yesterday to go canoeing, checked the website before we came, and drove 30 minutes to get there. When we arrived we were told we would have to wait until the next trip because a large group was ahead of us. We agreed and proceeded to fill out the necessary paperwork for our trip. A few moments later a manager approached us and told us that we wouldnt be able to canoe today. We were very disappointed, he was very rude, and offered us nothing for our time wasted. Very disappointed in the customer service of this location.
Took the kids down this past weekend on a whim. Was amazed at the speed that they got me a canoe on a busy Saturday. With a 4 year old and 6 year old in tow, I was able to get everything in no time at all. The staff was amazingly helpful and was especially friendly with my children. I would highly recommend the 3 mile trip for anyone with little kids. Its the perfect length and the staff shows you everything you need to know (if you havent been before). Well be back soon and would highly recommend this to anyone interested.
I havent canoed with Loveland Canoe & Kayak since it was Bruces 25-30 years ago and was really looking forward to paddling the lower Little Miami River on a beautiful Saturday in early June. Theyre website clearly states, Have your own canoe or kayak? We will shuttle you and your personal watercraft so you can save gas and the hassle. They charge a fair price of $15 for the shuttle service. They also ask that you make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. I tried. It didnt work. I called. No answer. Just a recording. I left my phone number. No call back. So I loaded up my canoe and drove there ready for a day on the river hoping they werent all booked up. I arrived on a hot Saturday just after 11am and not very many customers were milling about so I thought, no problem! Not so. I walked in a told them Id like to purchase a shuttle trip for their Kings Mills Excursion, their 10 mile trip. I was told by the young man working the counter, Oh, we dont do shuttles for that trip. I said, Your website says you do, and he replied, I dont know what the website says. He then proceeded to tell me that they would take me and my boat on the 5 mile trip, but wouldnt take me on the 10 mile trip because it would take them an hour to do it and it wouldnt be worth it for them. An older woman who was also working the desk finished with another customer and interjected, The next van for that trip leaves in 50 minutes at noon. We dont have any reservations for that trip, but if you want to wait around to see if anyone shows up to go on that trip well take you with them. So... even though their website clearly states that theyll shuttle you and your canoe on the 10 mile trip the best they would do for me is to tell me I could wait for almost an hour so they could most likely tell me no again. What kind of customer service/truth in advertising is that? The website doesnt tell you that you can only get a shuttle on the 10 mile trip if someone else who is renting a canoe is going. They dont answer their phone. They dont return phone calls. What a monumental waste of time and an extremely poor way to run a business. No wonder there werent any customers there. Go to Morgans at Fort Ancient where youll be treated fairly and theyll genuinely be happy to have you as a customer--AND only charge you $10 to shuttle you on any trip they offer! THATs servicing the customer!
We have enjoyed multiple trips down the Little Miami through Loveland Canoe and Kayak and thoroughly enjoyed. This last trip we again enjoyed the Herons, Wood ducks with ducklings and for the first time saw a soft shelled turtle on the bank. As we were looking at it, it flipped into the water, just missing landing in one of our kayaks !! We have taken the 5 mile trip and usually takes 2 hours as we enjoy the Lazy River type of trip.
Absolutely love this place! The only Jackson Kayak seller in Cincy. Right on the water, so you can demo before buying. Owner Mark and employee Joey are so intelligent and kind! Had a great experience! They even provide a $10 shuttle service to the Little Miami 10, 5, and 3 mile drop-off points, so when you do purchase, you can ride right back to your car. They also of course specialize in kayak rentals and outings. An awesome place!
Every year, one of the highlights of our summer is taking our friends out canoeing at Loveland Canoe and Kayak. They have the perfect stretch of river for families to enjoy. As for the location of the shop, there is plenty of parking out and around the building. When you are done with your trip, leave your car where it is and walk over to Ramsey’s or Paxton’s for a drink or head up to one of the rooftop bars above Bishops Quarter or Tano for a drink and food!
I have been paddling all over the Little Miami River for years now, both in my own boats as well as rental boats. Loveland Canoe & Kayak is by far one of the best outfitters out there. Mark and Robin do an amazing job as well as their team. I have showed up many times just needing a quick shuttle and they have been more than helpful in getting me on the river as fast as possible. Their staff is outstanding and always ready and willing to help out….how many other outfitters out there will help you carry your own gear to your car?I take my kids on the river as much as possible and I can’t think of a friendlier place to take your kids….mine love it! My youngest runs around the house in his life jacket saying, “Let’s go to the river to see Mr. Mark and Mrs. Robin”. Loveland Canoe & Kayak is by far my first choice in liveries, I HIGHLY recommend them.
Every aspect of our 1st kayak purchasing experience was top notch because of the genuine service that Mark and the Loveland Canoe & Kayak Inc. family provided me and my wife. Mark took the time to educate us on the basics so we were comfortable with the type of kayak that would best fit our family. He personally delivered the product to our home, allowed us to try it out on our own time with no pressure to buy, and also responded to follow up questions after purchase without hesitation. We shopped many retailers for our first kayak and purchased from Loveland Canoe & Kayak because of the excellent service. Thank you Mark and family.
Great place to get on the river and a fun little town to explore. Parking may be tricky on the weekends. A fun thing to do as a group or a team building exercise. Bring a cooler with lunch and plenty to drink. Sunblock is a must as well as a hat and sunglasses. I like the kayaks better then sharing a canoe. It prevents quarreling.
I called Loveland Canoe and Kayak a few weeks ago looking for a Jackson Kayak Fishing kayak. The owner himself spoke to me on the phone for a solid 20 minutes telling me about the various models available and what to expect, he also strongly suggested I come into the shop and test paddle the various models to see what I liked best. I did exactly that the next day and he spent 2-3 hours with me and my wife letting us try various kayaks, giving us various tips on using them and paddling instructions on top of it all! I ended up buying a Jackson Coosa fishing kayak and have since had excellent and prompt after purchase service. When I picked the boat up I admitted to being ignorant of how to properly secure it to the roof of the van (with factory roof rails). One of his employees not only helped me load it onto the roof and walked me through exactly how to secure it properly, he also did all of that in the pouring rain. I can see myself going back when its time for another Jackson kayak (and there will be another, this boat is great!) Ive always preferred making purchased at local small businesses because you get much better service then the big box stores, and once again I was proven correct.
It was ok but it would be nice if there were markers letting you know how far you have left to go and also a sign showing where you have gotten back to the docking station because as a first timer I had not a clue and thought the person waiting to help us out the boat was just some weirdo watching people float down the river. 🤷🏽♀️
If youve never taken a kayak down a Little Miami River I encourage you to try it during the weekday. There wont be as many people on the river go early in the morning, let the others get ahead of you or stay way ahead of them. If you do this then you have the river to yourself.

2022-02-19Mark made the process of purchasing a quality, American made kayak so easy. He was informative, responsive, and helpful. I bought a Crescent Crew tandem kayak. Mark had the kayak in my possession in 13 days from first contact. It was worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to do business with Loveland. I cant say enough about how great this experience has been. Cheers, Mark! We will see you this summer!
