Save yourself some heartache and just go to Franklin County. These folks are not truthful at all. They will allow you to schedule for one animal and at the last moment try pawning others they cant get adopted on you. Over a week period I was fed 2 different stories on a dog nobody knew about but me and them. My first and last experience with these folks. Somebody found themselves attached and they felt compelled to lie to me to place it elsewhere. Its a good thing for one to save an animal and Ive had my fruitful experiences doing this and had long friendships because of it. Do it elsewhere. Gotta say I am truly disappointed. You want folks who have the means to successfully take animals in but discourage them by operating this way. Perception is very a powerful thing and this place has definitely chased me away like a dog running from a abusive owner!

We got our Dora there a few weeks ago. They were super helpful and clearly love dogs. After we came home and our doggie had some stomach issues, we called for help and they gave us all the information we needed. They gave us a new member of the family and will always have a special place in our hearts.

I found two terribly neglected -but cute- little dogs running in the middle of a busy road at night. I couldnt keep them since I already have several cats. I researched online and found the Licking County Animal shelter. They had mostly good reviews and a wonderful facebook page. I was relieved to see they were open 7 days a week (except holidays)- and opened by 8:00 in the morning for intake of stray dogs. So, I kept the dogs overnight then took them there in the morning. When I arrived there was no wait. I was greeted at the desk for paperwork immediately. I felt good leaving them there, because of how professional and caring the staff were checking in the dogs. I called a couple times later to check on them- and easily reached a live, friendly person by phone. I was happy to hear that the dogs were given dawn baths and regular outside playtime. Within one week, both dogs were adopted - and I was thrilled to see the adoption pictures on the facebook website. These old, stray dogs, were treated with love- and found homes fast. They said they wouldve kept them as long as it took to get adopted. If I understand correctly, they dont euthanize unless theres something seriously wrong with a dogs health, or if it has a dangerous temperament. Take a stray here-- or adopt from here-- with confidence. Thanks guys!

If you’re looking at a dog to adopt, don’t waste your time scheduling an appointment here. My wife and I found a dog we were really excited to meet, and called ahead to schedule an appointment to visit her. We were told that we were the only ones that called about her, so we expected to go home with a new member of our family.Upon arriving, the dog we had an APPOINTMENT to meet was already in the lobby going home with another family. I’m super happy for the dog, and I hope her new home treats her as good as we had hoped to. I’m just extremely disappointed in the shelter for the lack of communication, as well as adopting the dog out before our appointment. We drove 45 minutes one way for no reason, and didn’t even get a call that someone else was going to take her.Complete lack of professionalism. Unfortunately, our dog search continues. It just won’t be through this shelter.

I have recently lost my cat, and the Humane Society was closed so I thought it would be worth a shot to give them a call. Well, before I could even get my full question out to the lady over the phone, she rudely interrupted me with the worst attitude Ive ever heard and said WE DONT TAKE CATS HERE. I understand that, but its worth a shot to call especially since losing my cat is like losing a child. I will NEVER recommend anyone to go here and I would definitely warn people before they call, because they might get the same treatment that I did.

My husband and myself just went and checked out the Humane society to check out their Dogs, Because The girls are asking for a puppers from Santa for Christmas! We Found two pups that we were interested in petting and walking so they wanted to have us fill out paperwork and question us, while Tim was filling out the paperwork I kept Millie occupied by looking at the Kitties, I found one and we all fell in love with him! By this point they took Tim in the office to ask more questions and Informed him that since we are in violation of our adoption of Mr. Jingles (he goes Outside) they werent going to allow us to adopt another cat.... So, because we take care of our cats how we see fit, in our own home.. we cant get any more from there... Our cats are spoiled rotten and in excellent health! They regularly go to vet visits and are up on all their shots.. Smh It just really frustrated us!

I recently started working here on Monday and they staff here are amazing and kind. They care for the dogs and other workers safety and always give the dogs attention. I know I am going to like it here. The dogs are so friendly and just want to be loved and i look forward to working here everyday.

One place I will never return. Talked to an Employee through Facebook that stated that All Animals are on a First Come, First Serve Basis. Come to find out, after driving 2hrs to their Facility, That the Basis is not only false, but they also keep the animals longer than they should in order to complete their Pledges. Easier way to say that would be Animal Raffle. Instead of giving these Animals a real shot at a good life, they go to the highest bidder. Was told, word for word today Multiple families who have pledged will come in, well open the envelopes or whatever and the highest envelope gets the animal. And that was from what I assume is the Dog Warden HIMSELF! Found 5 Animals on Pet Finder that I would have gladly chosen any of them. Get to the Facility and all 5 were in the same caged area. FIVE! In one cage. This place needs investigated! Absolutely horrible how they adopt out their pets to the highest bidders. No better than a puppy mill!!!

If i could give half or no star I would. They had put down one of my best friends for doing the job she was supposed to do protect and serve her home and those it in when someone had walked in our home unwelcomed and without permission. So word of advice to those who have guard dogs to protect their homes do not let the dogs do their job or they will put your best friend to sleep.
