Lewis and Michael Moving & Storage. in other cities:
My family and I have moved many times in the course of the last 9 years and this by far was the worst move regarding damages, lost and stolen items. One box was completely misplaced and was eventually found and returned to us. It had been opened and contents gone through before being resealed. One of our items was missing out of the box as well.Several furniture pieces were damaged and completely broken. While the movers were prompt and courteous I would give this company zero stars if I could.
Lewis and Michael help me with an in town move yesterday and they were fantastic! The 3 movers were polite, professional and quick! They loaded up more stuff than I had intially requested and still came in under the estimate. The were also proactive about issues with furniture and gave advice and helpful on all sort of things regarding furniture. They were also the only movers I contacted that came out and provided an estimate based on what items we had and proactively suggested how to box things like TVs and mirrors. All around great experience!
Lewis & Michael did such an incredible job! They moved my 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with all of the kitchen appliances and a full 2 car garage, a deck fully outfitted with outdoor furniture and a full basement/laundry room and workshop. It was a BIG move and these guys worked so hard sun up to sun down! It was scheduled to be a 1 day move but there was so much stuff that they worked until 7pm and then came back bright and early the next morning, their scheduled day off, and completed the move. I’m unpacking my kitchen today and discovered that not a single glass is broke! They moved multiple TVs, a huge refrigerator and range and they all work perfectly and don’t have a scratch on them a job well done by Lewis & Michael!!
I hate having to leave negative reviews because the actual movers that picked up / dropped off my stuff were fairly nice but the whole process was pretty lousy ...I honestly think I overpaid for the quality of service.1.) My piano was heavily damaged in the move and I am still trying to sort out getting that repaired / paid for2.) There were three boxes missing. One week on I still have not heard back as to when I can expect those to be shipped to me or if I will be reimbursed for them, despite numerous calls.3.) Difficult to get a hold of. Ive called probably half a dozen times but have yet to get a response.
1. The sales manager, Mark Fussnecker, was extremely difficult to work with as he was nearly impossible to get in touch with until he wanted to have our stuff delivered a day early. We were given a range of dates as to when to expect the delivery and they ended up repeatedly calling in order to have the stuff delivered earlier because it was more convenient for their dispatcher.2. The driver was unprofessional. He showed up about 6 hours late and brought no help with him to move a 2BR apartment. We ended up having to help him bring stuff in or else it would have taken most of the night.3. Several items were broken in the move4. Overall, not worth the money. Amateur operation. Will plan to file BBB report after this experience.
It pains me to give these guys such a poor review. The staff that was responsible for our move were in the main courteous and pleasant, but that’s about the only area where they exceled. Personnel were allocated such that a job that should have required two days to pack took three full days. Four guys showed up on Day 1; three on Day 2 (but one of them snuck out early), and only one on Day 3. On the morning of the actual day of the move **two** guys showed up! They finally determined around 1:00 pm that maybe, just maybe, they were going to need more workers. They finally finished up loading the truck around 7:00 pm.The skill level of the workers varied considerably. Some of the older workers, for example, seemed to sorta know what they were doing, but others were relatively clueless. One didn’t even understand how best to handle a moving dolly. They often didn’t use furniture pads/blankets on large items that required it with the end results one would expect — a lot of nicks and dings to large pieces of furniture, some expensive, some not. As an example, we had a large number of moderately-priced upright book cases — almost all were damaged in some way. Finally, the movers left a fair number of nicks and gashes on the walls as they moved stuff out of the house. I’ve been through a fair number of moves and am not so naïve as to expect movers to leave a house in pristine shape. But some of these guys seems unable to **not** bang stuff into the walls. Before the group left at the end of the move day, I pointed out to the foreperson a number of the larger gashes his workers had left and was assured that he would personally contact me within a couple of days to arrange for repairs. Right. I ended up doing the work myself (as he no doubt intended).I’ve been through some half a dozen major moves in the last twenty years, so know what to expect and I can confidently say this was the worst one I have experienced.
This was the worst move of my 11 year military career. There were more losses and damages on this single move than the three moves before it combined. Issues plagued this entire process this time around. The packers were incompetent and inconsistent, ranging from how they packed items (stacking glass shot glasses and wrapping them together instead of wrapping individually) to their consistency in following the rules (they packed some liquids when they felt like it despite not supposed to pack liquids and packed items off of the walls even though the rules state they will leave those items alone). The driver told us he would probably deliver on 10 or 11 Jul. I understand this does not count but my wife made a point of being at the new house to accept since my final out was 11 Jul. Then the driver bungled the move trying to drive up a road/hill to our neighborhood that was obvious a semi would not be able to make. Additionally, we had warned him about the neighborhood which he reassured us he would check out before attempting to deliver. Also, NO ONE could tell me where the truck was when stuff was not delivered on the 10th or 11th. Finally, the multiple damages and lost items coupled with the cavalier attitude of the driver that I dont understand why you are so mad, you will get paid for the items. The treatment of my family, my familys items, and me is inexcusable.
They had, Misleading/False Sales Info, Unprofessional Driver (point of origin), Understaffed and delayed our pack out, they arrived late, they split our loads, the missed delivery date, you had to hunt them down for info (no one wanted to take responsibility for communicating with customer), and due to the understaffing and late arrivals they were not able to complete move in 1 day as the promised and we had to work with the movers to get our house packed by the 2nd day other wise it would have taken a 3rd day.Not recommended seriously seek referrals from people you know who moved, they have only stayed in business in Dayton due to the volume the base contracts with them in Dayton and the lack and availability of other national movers.Filed complaint with BBB for overcharging and overall business service.
Recently moved and used Lewis & Michaels, plenty of guys to choose from, these are just as good as the rest! Friendly-burly staff got my stuff moved in a jiffy! Reasonably priced, didnt hurt my wallet and got exactly what I paid for. Thank you L&M for doing the hard work for me.
Awful experience. I have moved many times and never had the actual movers cause so much damage and then so little response from the company. They caused damage to furniture after having moved it in and then damage to the house. The company refused to respond to queries for claims. Never again with these guys.

2022-07-15Everything about the move was incredible. Susan helped me in the weeks leading up to the move with any questions I had (she even dropped off boxes to my parents house!!). The men that helped me move were also so professional and a lot of fun to work with. They had my entire apartment packed up, moved, and unpacked in about 4 hours. At the end it cost me about $850, and I would have spent double the money to have the same experience! Thank you guys!

2022-04-07The two gentlemen really helped me out carrying everything out that needed to be down. Everything was wrapped well and secured tight. Very polite, good mannered as well. Would be glad to have the two pack up my next move if I could if you want to send them to Alaska!

2022-03-25Contracted for move that has turned into nightmare and is still not over. Move estimated to be about 14,000 pounds by three moving companies and would take 4-5 men 2 days totaling 12 hours. Went with L&M due to referral and set date and time. Only three movers showed late by 3 hours and 12 hours later the trailer was loaded and old house closed at 11:45 PM.Move was to condo 8 miles away and after numerous calls during loading, L&M advised van would arrive at 9:00 with extra help to unload. Driver called at 9:57 to say had not been told of early arrival so was just on road and no extra help had been offered. Just arrived at 11:30 to start unloading.Calls to sales person and to L&M owner go unanswered with no return call after leaving messages. Hopefully the unloading will be faster but am not optimistic.Would not recommend L&M though driver and team are good folks.

2022-01-05Lewis & Michael did a great job moving my things for a floor repair! Susan came over to an estimate and she was so friendly and helpful! And if I had questions it was so easy to reach her. Mike and his moving men did a fabulous job moving things carefully with no damage and they even saved me some money! I highly recommend Lewis & Michael!

2022-03-08For TRUCKERS: this place is awesome to get loaded. Showed up @1000 for a 1230 appointment. As soon as a door was open they backed me in, took about 40 minutes to load and Im out the door and on my way down the road before 1130. Wish all places were this efficient and courteous, friendly staff

2021-11-04HORRIBLE COMPANY! DO NOT USE> We are a military family and Lewis and Michael packed up our house to move to Japan. The movers stole my jewelry (my wedding ring, diamond necklaces, earrings). Everything arrived broken from their horrible packing. Then they do not have the decency to email or call back when we called to question them. It is heartbreaking that my husband fights for our country and their movers repay us by stealing our stuff.
