Great chicken, baked beans and Mac and cheese. Sweet tea and biscuit with honey and butter were the dessert.
Even when they are not busy, have your receipt, and while parked at the window, open the containers and check to see how they screwed up. Better yet, don’t go.
Ordered unsweetened tea, got sweet. Arg! The building is closed to the public so had to take it back to you he drive through. They fixed it right away, thank you!

What dinner restaurant closes before 7:22pm?? Good food, but doesnt matter if you cant get it. Omgosh, most the food was hot and served quickly. We did have some cold potatoes, but they quickly resolved that. The kid behind the counter could of been a little friendlier. Ill still go there when Im in the area cause I love that chicken!
Part of this complaint is not Lees fault, I recognize this. We ordered Lees through Door Dash, the driver ghosted us. Ghosting us was not Lees fault. We contacted Lees to see if maybe our order was returned to the store, they hung up on us when we called. I drove over to the store to try to speak with someone, becuase maybe our cell drop the call. When I pulled into the parking lot I saw an employee run to the door, it look like they locked the door, but I am unsure. I went to the drive through to try to speak with someone. When I told them what happened and asked if any Door Dash had possibly been returned or if the driver had reached out to the store. I was told they didnt know and dont keep track of door dash. I just wanted to know if the driver tried to return the order!

They were very quick, the food was delicious, and I could not have asked for a better drive thru experience. If you havent tried the new spicy chicken poppers do so u will not be disappointed.

Ok , this was a little gemIt looked kind of sketchy from the outside but we really want dome fried chicken.The order was fast. It came in a Togo tray that made it difficult to eat on the road, but we were pleasantly surprised that it was good and fresher that the chain restaurants.This place is a re-do next time we are over there.
We have driven by here numerous times on our way to Indian Lake and today we stopped and got dinner!! Glad we did because it was delicious!!! I was thinking it was going to be similar to KFC it is significantly better!!! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful and the biscuits were very moist and flaky!!!
First time in town and first time trying Lee’s chicken, great experience and I wish I have it in South Florida. Chicken was tasty, Mac & cheese is excellent , best I’ve had in months. 4 pieces o chicken , two sizes and a drink for under 10$ is a deal

I come here a few times per month when running deliveries in this area. I have had so many bad experiences with the chicken either being tough and chewy maybe due to over brining that i stopped ordering chicken.. I have been settling for chicken pot pies because they always good but today I thought I would go back and try the chicken since its been a while and its still the same very chewy didnt hardly eat any of my chicken.
The order was wrong and the chicken was so salty we had trouble eating it.
Have been going to Lees chicken on Allentown rd. For a long time. Always ordered spicy tenders and one of the sides I ordered was red beans and rice.While back they dropped red beans and rice? Today I learned no more spicy tenders. Decided to spend my money elsewhere from now on.
Awesome chicken & staff went out of their way to be nice. Great weekend special on buckets, & we were served super fast piping hot chicken. We dined in, & were impressed how fast people came & left with their food. So sweet to see their young employee hustle across the store to help an elderly lady with a cane out the door with her goodies (my back was turned, so I hadnt seen her needing help. An A++++ experience!
Ive eaten here several times and Ive always gotten fast service. They serve large pieces of chicken unlike many other fried chicken places. This chicken is always good and reasonable. Truck and trailer parking nearby make this a good stop when traveling through Ohio.
Hi. Im Karry Claypool. A fan of Lees vhicken in Piqua for years. It I eat there sometimes 4 times a week. I was in Bellefontaine and was so impressed with April and how she took care of rhe staff and customers. She is what makes you famous.
If you have to eat chicken , this is a place that is not in town. Stop by. Gizzards and livers if you want some.
Kid at the register taking orders was kind of rude. It definitely seems like they are cooking the food to order but they definitely are not based on the time it takes to get your order. Food was ok but chicken was dry.
Went to Lee’s chicken order 8 piece of chicken the price was 16.99 which I thought was rather high, the chicken was really greasy .Had tried their food years ago and didn’t like thought we would try again and again we were disappointed.We can go to Lee’s in Lima and get a 9 piece for $12.49 and the chicken is really good and not as greasy.

Id heard about Lees and couldnt wait to try it. I was passing through Bellefontaine coming from Columbus. I am so glad I stopped by. My chicken dinner was perfectly cooked and I will visit again.
So glad I finally made back to Lees!Its just as good I remember it. The last one I had been to was in Fremont Ohio over 25 years ago.This one did not disappoint! The biscuits are perfect. The chicken livers very tasty. Chicken is, of course, The Bomb! I love the coleslaw and gravy too. Cant go wrong. Im thinking about making a routine trip from Columbus just to get me some Lees!
We got the chicken livers meals and the livers were great! The sides were very small though. Just a very small scoop of mashed potatoes & a very small scoop of mac & cheese. The biscuit was delicious! Service was fast too, so thats always great. :)
Follow-up to original post: I appreciate the follow-up & coupon offer, but decline. I do want to note that the staff were very friendly and I am certain that if I hadn’t left the parking lot before eating they would have corrected my order.Have eaten Lee’s several times and several different locations, truly one of my favorite places to eat. Unfortunately not this time, cold chicken, soggy wedges, no honey for the biscuit, flat Dr Pepper. Total miss, won’t be back to this one.
Dam good chicken and the service here is excellent. I cannot tell you the last time I ate at the Lees close to my house but I come here at least once a month. Hands down some of the best fried chicken in the area. Good news for truckers they have truck parking here.
Obviously the girls on day shift cant count! I stopped in twice this week. On the first visit I was charged for 2 sides and only received 1,second visit I ordered a 3 piece dinner and received a 2 piece! Both orders were to go,so of course I drove off before I realized what happened both times. I live locally,and can assure you I will not be back!!!!!!!!
This place has decent food, but it would be better if anything was ever hot. Ive been a few times and ordered different things and my chicken and even the sides were almost room temperature. Every table Ive sat at has been sticky and had to put down napkins.
Food was hot fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly efficient and helpful. The restaurant in bathrooms were clean. Well done!
As far as fast food chicken goes they blow KFC out of the water. The spicy breading is the best!
The food was a little pricey but the service and the taste of the food definitely made up for it. The associates even let a gentleman after us know he could save money by getting more than what he originally wanted, showing the employees care about the customers and getting them the best deal they can.

My order is always wrong but the ladies who are managers will and do take care of the problems.It seems some of the subordinates continue to act how they choose even though you let the managers know your experience that you have with them and give names. They are rude and still carry on the same.The young and some of the old seem to show off a bit, being rude, uncaring, and unprofessional, and throw your box of food up on the counter.Of course, not in front of the managers.Just because one consumer has not experienced it does not mean others dont.No comparison.Each customer and consumer will experience their own encounters, good or bad.Overall, I love Lees chicken sometimes, but some of the subordinates will cause you to not want to bring your grandmother there, namely Infinity. Hands down the best fried Chicken I have ever had. Mash potatoes and Green beans were over the top delicious as well. Trust me, I eat a lot of fried 🐔,Lol this place this is at top of my list.
Rest room was not quite clean, especially for just opening for the day. The chicken was OK. The mashed potatoes were good. The drink mix was a little off, needing more syrup. All in all, it was just an OK visit.
Chicken was dry and it tasted as if it was in a warmer/heat lamp for a substantial amount of time. Not worth the 60 bucks and 40-minute drive. However service was prompt and friendly.
I love this restaurant!! I believe the original recipe Lees chicken is the best chicken you can buy at any fast food and 99% of sit down restaurants, period. It is crispy but not greasy with a touch of honey. The chicken inside is juicy and flavorful and theres a lot of meat on each piece. I also love the sides and I think Ive had all of them. The biscuits are fluffy and flavorful and taste homemade. The coleslaw is creamy and so flavorful and the green beans have actual pieces of bacon and ham in it and just the best. The Mac and cheese does not taste like chemicals but actual cheese and cream and butter! Even the ice tea is so well made and fresh. Everything about Lees is better than KFC and I love KFC as well but Lees is just better in every way. The founder of Lees was a close relative of Col. Sanders but wanted to do his own thing with his own recipes with Sanders blessing (I read the history of Lees in the restaurant...). Whenever we are anywhere near a Lees we always stop especially on our way to Hi-road drive in or after horseback riding at Marmon Valley Farm.
Pry the worst service Ive ever had. For Ohio being a mask mandate state i dont think there was a single person wearing one in there besides the people that worked there. Had to give this place a star to post my review. Although I would probably give this negative stars.

Walked in at 6 PM. Not empty, not thronged. Short line, so order was taken promptly, courteously, and cheerily. It was up for us accurately and pretty quickly. Both of us had specials.Hot stuff was hot and cold stuff (my slaw) was cold. Chicken was juicy and tasty. Frankly, I like Lees better than KFC. Besides the slaw, I had fried pickles and a biscuit. My wifes sides were green beans and mac n cheese, with the biscuit. Oh. Both of us got butter-like substance and honey. KFC has real butter, but honey sauce, so this was a wash.Overall, a great visit. You oughta try it!

My husband and I both got sick last time we ate there. I have found hair in my food and my father in law swears there was a mouse turd on the wrapper to his fork. Service is good, but a long way from hygienic.
I love the flavors. Chicken is fresh and well seasoned, mashed potatoes and gravy offer a southern flair, and the green been are just like grandmas. However, the wait is always a bit long.

Went through drive through to get a family meal of strips. We was told they would be 7 mins, so we decided to go inside. Upon trying to order was told they wouldnt have enough strips and it would be another long wait. Very disappointed since I dont get to have Lees very often.
I accidentally ordered catering for lima bellefontaine Ave. And when I showed up and we figured it out THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure my moms 55th bday party was still fully catered! You guys rock and thank you so so much!

If you are a truck driver, don’t try and park here. They don’t allow truck drivers to park. No over night parking what so ever.
The staff here is friendly. I usually eat here once a week or so with a friend for lunch. Good food...although i think they have recently changed their potato salad...it isnt as good as it was before.

If I had it my way you wouldnt even get a star. I try to use the online app and was sent to the wrong Lees. I called and was told that the order was cancelled and yet a week later and the money has still not been put back on my card. So sad to know that this Lees says they do something and nothing is shown in actions. Feeling robbed.
Omg, they have spicy crispy chicken at this location and its amazing!!!! My advice for you is to definitely try it... I recommend it!!

The chicken was great but it seems like the leg and thighs have gotten smaller and I bought a 12-piece family meal and the sides wasnt enough for two people. They were like small containers what happened to the big containers a 12-piece fees for plus people 1 tbsp of a side is not enough.
Would be 5 stars if it wasnt more expensive for 3 people to eat here than buying 4 people good steaks at the grocery store, with sides, and grilling them at home....

Traveled from Columbus for some chicken liver. They were out. Then our whole order was wrong. They did fix it and offered some desserts to make up for the mistake. The worst part was the lack of liver though.

I am from out of state and was down here for my dads memorial and a really good friend had bought a very good amount of food from yall out of the goodness of his heart...and very good food at that but the only down fall was a very rude employee...now me being a manager of a resturaunt for 9 years i would never allow my employees to say the things she said infront of customers.....heres her exact words we are out of corn the other lady in the back says im trying but we are shortstaffed so the girl (young) comments its ok i dont care how long anyone has to wait (end qoute)....EXCUSE ME! That was the rudest thing i have ever witnessed hearing coming from an establishment....somethings need to be taken into consideration and this situation is o e of them....she was down right hateful! Down to when she was taking orders on the headset ...rolling her eyes and huffing and puffing....i just dont think this is the job for her...i would give you her name but it was covered up by her jacket...the gentlemen that took our order was so embarressed and apologized several times for her actions...

The restaurant itself felt a bit tired and in need of a renovation but it was clean and warm which was a bonus on the cold wet night I visited.This is a place for people who like their calories served up in an uncomplicated way. Fried chicken, potatos, coleslaw, biscuits, etc. The batter in which the chicken is deep fried is similar to that of another famous chain but I thought it was crispier and the chicken wasnt as greasy. Portions are huge and the leftovers taste great cold.

The chicken was really good you could tell one piece was fresh and one have been cooked for a little bit but still had a great taste. The macaroni and cheese was kind of bland and the potatoes and gravy or hot but Im not a gravy fan so Im not sure if the gravy was good or not I couldnt tell because thats just something thats not me. Will I go back? Yes I definitely will.

This chicken restaurant beats the heck out of raising canes and popeyes. Wish there was one closer to where I live! A must try place!
Serving size of mash potatoes were very small chicken was little dry coleslaw and biscuit was good.
This was our time trying this restaurant and he food was delicious. The staff was very nice as well.
The cashier was very friendly but the person working in the kitchen just threw our food on the tray including the mashed potatoes and gravy and nobody bothered to pic it up it got served to us like that 😡

Was not as happy with the food this time. Tasted a bit old, like it sat around for awhile.
Make sure you check everything at the window. Theyll mess something up, always do. Besides that its ok food.

I did not get what I ordered but I went ahead and ate what they had made a mistake on.
I was disappointed today during our visit time Lees East, food was good as usual. I ordered 4 piece meal as I usually do and I normally have a piece or 2 to take home for the next day. Today there was a big difference was the size of the portions of chicken. The chicken breast and wing was smaller than the thigh alone. Although the chicken was good as usual the breast was dry, I guessing due to the very small size. I hope this is a temporary change and they will go back to selling the chicken we all have grown to enjoy.
Greasy deep fried chicken like it is supposed to be. KFC aint got nothing on Lees. Good sides like rice and beans, green beans, and potatoe wedges. Floors could be cleaned more often.

2022-05-03This was our second visit. First time was fine. Second was lousy. The guy at the counter was either super new and it was his first day, or he was high. Completely scatter brained. Food waited at the hot window for several minutes and I had to remind him to provide me with my drink cup. I also didnt get my doing sauce and had to ask for it.The food was OK, better than KFC. They got rid of the gizzards which was disappointing.Service was odd overall, and ineffecient. It would be better if the process was made more clear and staff could set expectations.

2022-01-24We eat at Lee’s at least once a week. This evening my husband went through the drive thru to bring dinner home. He ordered me the breast meal with mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw, as well as a Pepsi. This is always what I order and this is what I have always received. The girl that was working the drive thru proceeded to tell my husband that I could not have a Pepsi because this meal does not come with a Pepsi. She was very rude for some reason. My husband told her he wanted the Pepsi and that he would pay for it. After which a man came on the speaker and said “Pepsi is not included with the breast meal!” Okay people, why do you have to treat someone so rude? It’s as simple as ringing a Pepsi into your cash register and us paying you! To top it off, my chicken breast was so dry I could not eat it! The mashed potatoes were cold and the Cole slaw was watery! What’s going on with your store? We are business owners and would not tolerate our employees treating our customers rudely. There’s absolutely no sense in it! Please teach your employees some customer service skills as well as to know when to not serve the chicken if it’s been sitting too long. I’m not one to complain, but the last few times we’ve eaten at Lee’s the food has not been the quality we are used to and now the service isn’t even good.

2022-01-10Food is good, but the main problem is every time I order it items are always missing from my meal... my most recent one I didnt have my silverware, dipping sauce, biscuit or the butter. It isnt the end of the world but it does happen frequently enough to be notable and to be an inconvenience...

2021-12-05This place was once my favorite. Went there tonight and they refused my order of 2 large 20 piece famous recipe meals. They said I could only have one and that I could have the other 20 piece as spicy. I cannot eat spicy foods due to a health condition. This was relayed to them and they still refused. It is an hour before closing. They had plenty of time to make more chicken. I will not give a good recommendation to this place anymore.

2021-01-23I love Lees Famous Recipe. I would give them five stars but there are times when the chicken is really dry and really looks questionable to be served to a customer but you get it anyway. Other than the occasional sub par performance Famous Recipe is definitely the best chicken place in Bellefontaine!

2020-06-28We returned to Lee’s for some carry out and ordered two meals, a snack portion and 3 fried pickles. After waiting 25 minutes, we inquired about our order. Word from the back was they were waiting on the pickles. Now, in my opinion, if there was a hold up by a side item and it was delaying the rest of the meal from coming out, someone should have given us an update before 25 minutes. As we watched orders continue to come out, we noticed that there were fried pickles on a dining room order that was placed several positions after ours. I thought perhaps they made multiple servings of pickles at the same time, so ours would be out in short order. However, time went on and I approached the counter again and asked to speak to the manager. The timer on the screen was now over 33 minutes. I pointed it out to her and she said I know. Not “I’m sorry” or some sort of conciliatory statement or even an offer of some compensation. I said this is unacceptable to have to wait this long. Nothing. So, I requested a refund and they did it. However, I won’t get that 35 minutes of growing frustration for my family back and I did not want to waste another hungry minute. I hope things work out better for that crew, but I don’t think we will be back.
