Imagine coming in to Laura’s home sober and ready to work and get counseling and they force you to work in the kitchen for FREE. WhileA full blown drug addict has to only change small trash bags around the facility. But I have to do crazy work in the kitchen for FREE attend 4 months of classes before I can work and they look for housing 😓 I’m not expecting this place to be great and trust me I am grateful for everything they’ve done . But it seems a little odd that all I really needed was a place to sleep and counseling for homelessness .

I was at Laura’s home in 2020 although I did have some good experience I also had bad. My car was broken into and somehow the video was lost I had a staff member ask me if I was dopeing my infant baby up. I had just had my baby and a stroke months before coming there and was supposed to be on bed rest but even after giving them the doctors note they still wanted me to do their program so I did and was in pain everyday at one point I had fell walking from class to my room they also made me put my son in their daycare and he would cry until he threw up witch can be very harmful to an infant child who is also autistic. I was forced to go to their church that had flashing lights and I have epilepsy so I told them I would not go to that church again honestly if it wasn’t for Ms.rose the security Tammy Mitchell and one of the ladies who I met in there I don’t think I would have made it being there. I did however meet some woman who where genuinely nice but staff was not the best. Maintenance threw out my sons $300 stroller and said he thought it was abandoned and because I was focused on getting income and a house for me and my kids I was told that they was going to give me an out date luckily I told my cmha worker and she was able to get me placed rite away not to mention I had just found out my best friend was killed and they had no empathy they just told me to basically shake it off. I posted something on here before but I see they took my comment down because I told the truth they will not help you unless you have been there a full year. How I got my place was all me any paperwork I had to turn in Tammy did it for me not my case manager she was to busy to put my paperwork in but she wasn’t to busy to tell me they had a meeting about me and they wanted to give me a out date. And with 3kids smh any time I had a problem I knew I could count on Ms.rose she was like mother hen to all of us woman kept us in check and took us aside and talked and listen to us she never judge us that woman was and is an awesome woman she understood us and gave grate advice and for that I’m very thankful thank you mama rose🥰😍 I will always love you

There is a lady currently here who is actively putting curses and hexes on the other residents and no one will do anything about it. My friend who is staying there is very fearful.

I lived at Lauras Home back in 2015 with my son. Lauras home was the best place for me. I got closer with God they taught me to put God first in all that I do. The rest would be added. If it wasnt for Lauras home I wouldnt be where I am today. It was a life changing experience when you really put your all into it. The love of christ was there . One awesome place

I was here in 2016 and 2019 and the only thing I hate about it is they force you to go to chapel and you have to leave the building on Sundays from 9am to 12pm

My life was saved because of the people who were going out of their way to love me when I didnt love myself. I am forever grateful. Love Evelyn Andrews.

BEWARE!!! Theyre like a cult!!! If you dont work youre REQUIRED TO GO TO CHAPEL AND WORK CLEANING THEIR FACILITY 3 HOURS A DAY. The food is awful, and they only give you 30 minutes to eat it. Theres no exceptions even if you work your expected to figure out out on your own. Im not sure where all these private donations are coming from, but its very important for these donors to know what their moneys going towards. Its definitely not toward the residents, food, or even keeping up the facility. The social workers are pocketing the money. Im sure at one point this facility really did help out women, but something tells me they somehow manipulated these women to leaving these comments and reviews, if not the staff. Charity House is definitely a better solution for women in need, that treat you with dignity, and actually want to see you succeed.

I stayed there for 6 months. It was really nice in the beginning. But they dont want you to work. The program is really designed for people who have become homeless do to poor relationships, poor social emotional skills, and abuse. I feel they should be more open and focused on job skills and trainings ( 6 months - 1 year on-site job trainings that gives them a certification in a job) on site, that sets the clients up for success as well financially, as well as an actual budgeting class on site ( they have general one on one but a class would be very helpful), and personal skills (I needed my drivers license, and a car) They can have an almost controlling ideal of where you should be in life. I wanted to pursue a career and training in the Lactation field but they wanted me to do their program which is group Counseling based and spiritual counseling in a variety of ways to deal with any issues in relationships, SEL, and DBT. I personally felt very stressed towards the end of my stay having a couple of break downs. Their program isnt a one size fits all, and if you are coming here and need a month to get your feet back up then it works. Sometimes the way they make people leave wasnt in the best or most helpful way. Some of the case workers are nice. Some staff are really nice. Im grateful for being here because it gave me and my newborn a place to stay during some financial hardships I faced with little to no family. It was God sent when I needed and God looked out for me when they had me leave. God is good in any circumstance you face. Also the food ordeal. Please change that. Meal times were630-730Am1130-1230pm500-600pmAfter 630pm theres no food. You cant bring food in unless you have special circumstances (I was breastfeeding). But theres 12 hours between your next meal and many kids and adults were hungry after 6. Not ideal. They sometimes had snack after chapel but they stopped it then started it and chapel was only about 3 days in the 7 day week.

Lauras Home is an amazing place for women and children to live in a safe, healthy, respectful environment. It gives them the opportunity to heal, grow and learn while they are trying to gain back control over their lives. I have been volunteering here for years and have seen first hand what a wonderful gift and blessing this is for those in need. The staff whole-heartedly supports, respects, and cares for every single person that walks through the doors. I can vouch 100% that all donations are used for the residents only. This is an upstanding, above board, transparent organization on all fronts. God continue to bless their efforts for people in Cleveland.
