Lake Erie Lawn & Garden in other cities:
Had the mower deck on my L118 rebuilt with new bearing assemblys , pulleys, blade belt installed.I paid $60 for pick up and delivery because I dont have a truck.I assumed that they would automatically adjust the height of the mower deck to factory specs after the work, but they did not. When I called them, I asked them if they adjusted the height and they said no, you didnt ask for it to be done. Then they put the mechanic on the phone to tell me how to adjust it myself.I paid the money because right now I`m not physically able to get down on my knees to work on the lawn tractor. Just frustrated. Make sure that you ask for everything when dealing with this repair shop. Don`t assume something will be done with out your asking.Dave
Had a tune up on a snow blower at the Mentor Ave location. After 10 years of no issues at all, I get the snow blower home and it burned through a belt. Took it back to LE Lawn and Garden (Mentor Ave location) and they put the belt on at my charge. I asked if belt inspection was a part of the tune up I received and they said yes but the snow was really heavy so it probably caused it. They never once apologized showed any empathy etc. just a too bad come get your snow blower, you owe me $75. Took the snow blower home, had a few snows where it was light and I was able to throw the snow. Then a more heavy snow falls (I have a Husqvarna 11 HP 2 stage snow thrower that would cut through 1 foot of bricks) and I start to smell the belt burning up again. I call them and still no empathy, no offer to come pick it up nothing. Their response, well that was a heavy snow, bring it in and we will look at it. I take it to them and they look at it and they indicate that a bearing is bad and that is what is causing the issue. It has now been nearly 3 weeks since they have had it. No call to give me a status. I have to call in to see what is going on. The bearing is on back order. No idea when they will get the part in and to be honest he didnt care. Another thing to note. I guess they only order parts once a week so if your tool needs a part expect the turnaround to be at least 1.5 weeks in the shop. No offer to me to have an expedited part ordered on my dime. Just assumed that it was too expensive for me. So in summary, Id say this store really cant do a thorough small engine tune up (belt wear and tear was missed plus bearing wear and tear missed twice) and has absolutely zero customer service skills. I try to support small business but I can tell you once I get my snow blower back, I will NEVER be taking it here again. Nothing but a BIG hassle with no empathy. I will be telling everyone I know what a poor business they are running and I dont do that often.UPDATE - Now it has been 2 months (no more snow on the ground either) and I still have not heard a follow-up call from them. HORRIBLE!UPDATE - So I just waited because there was no snow on the ground, just to see how long it would take them to call me back. It is now 11/24/2015 and I originally took my snowblower in for the 3rd time in a season on 1/12/2015. Yes you are reading that correctly. Over 10 months in the shop with no phone call. The were suppose to deliver my snowblower yesterday. When I came home, no snowblower and they were closed. I just called them today and Ralph the manager says oh yeah our driver was hurt yesterday and we had to take him to the hospital. Ok, even if this were true and I have no doubt in my mind it isnt, a manager should have called and followed up with anyone scheduled for delivery. I mean I cant even make this stuff up how horrible it is. I guess if you never want to see your machine again, this is the best place in Lake County to take it.I seriously do not know how this place is still in business. I feel like they hate me or something.
Very rude and unpleasant staff. I was interested in purchasing a new lawn tractor and the gentleman I spoke to was rude from the minute he answered the phone! After speaking with that person I called Arko power equipment and Patrick took care of all my questions and I ended up buying a lawn tractor from him NOT Lake Erie. Dont go to or call Lake Erie lawn and garden, they are not interested in helping you or being respectful to you for that matter.
I will never shop anywhere else for my power equipment. Ralph and his team treat me very well. I own 2 Stihl chainsaws, a Stihl backpack blower, a Stihl string trimmer and an Ariens snow thrower from this store. They have always treated me fairly and honestly.I am a customer for life.
Even though it was my fault mixing up location pick up for a uhaul. The girl at the counter was very rude she didnt even greet me then she rolled her eyes at me wich was the part that made me very upset her attitude and body language was so ridiculous that I had to let her know how rude she was and that is not like me so I give this store a 1 star review I will never use this as a pick up or drop off location ever again
Painesville Location:Expensive and very little to no knowledge about their products. They have very poor customer relation skills and the employees all seem to be disinterested in their jobs. In short, this store needs stronger management, and they are only in business because there is nowhere else to go locally for parts. If another dealer opened in the area they would be gone overnight.
They took our lawnmower and didnt return any calls or voice mails for weeks. Finally after an arm and a leg they brought it back to us. They had forgot crucial screws and bolts to complete the function and most importantly safety of the machine. In a neighborhood full of children and animals you would want a spinning blade as secure as possible. I do not recommend giving this establishment your business and hard earned money. Thank. God bless America. Semper Fidelis.
This so called business is by far the worst mower repair place in Northeast Ohio. Do not go here unless you enjoy being over charged, lied to and want to wait for weeks for work to be done. The staff is rude and the older gentlemen I talked to was clearly intoxicated on a Tuesday around noon. Incompetence is the only thing they excel at.
Great staff very clean store. I take special note to some of the google reviews on our site, what stands out the most 99% of the negative reviews have never been a customer and they are close friends with the competition. Remember take light in what you read, It is almost never the way it is
13 months 2 days and 5 hours after dropping off my Toro Snowblower and I get a call that its ready. Upon arriving Im informed that it isnt quite ready and can I have a seat. Sure whats a few mi Utes when youve been waiting over a year. Literally 3 minutes and 5 pages through a TV guide from 1996 highlighting The final act of Mr. Belvedere I hear the click of the front door lock. Upon looking up I noticed the clerk wearing nothing but socks, glasses and a ventriloquist puppet on his right arm slip onto my lap and start belting out Yankee Doodle Dandy as loudly as possible with the puppet impressively hitting most of the high notes. 4 hours later and I finally am allowed to leave. Still no Toro but I have a hefty dry cleaning bill for the skid mark on my leg and memories that will last a lifetime.
Id rather roll around in sawdust and try petting a rabid beaver then take my mower back to these guys. If they spent half the time doing there job that they did driving Fords with theyre boyfriend then maybe Id try again... but for now Im sticking with Arko Power Equipment

2021-11-24Worst service I ever had, they mistaked my snow blower for someone elses and said it had an oil leak to scrap it and my mower has a service engine light on after having it serviced and ran 10 times since then. The lady at the desk needs fired rude and hangs up on you! Never again.

2021-07-22So bad!! They had our riding mower for 6 weeks. They said could’t find it. Never returned my calls. When they finally found it they said it would be over $500 to fix. We decided not to do repairs and when it was retuned it had a flat tire and was missing a cap. They still charged the full amount to pick it up and return and diagnose, over $150 We had it repaired somewhere else and they made it brand new for $217 including the new tire and cap!

2019-12-14These guys are supposed to be the pros, took my lawn tractor there for a no start and they told me the engine was blown and needed to be replaced. Lake Erie quoted me over $800 to replace the engine, i took my machine elsewhere for a second look and it turns out that the engine had a sheared flywheel key (a $2.99 part). The guys at the shop that ended up fixing it told me this happens all the time and it’s a quick fix and they get a lot of people from Lake Erie that want a second opinion and it’s always something they can fix for way less. Lake Erie “mechanics” are nothing but parts installers that are incapable of properly diagnosing a real issue. For what it’s worth, the second place I took my machine charged me under $100 said and done and it ran like new.

2019-10-24Checked the website before I drive up there and it said 6pm. I arrived at 5:10 and there are still two employees out front putting things away and another customer is walking game out. Main sign on the doors say 6:00pm as well. I check the one door and it locked. Try the other and locked as well. Then one of employee says we closed at 5. I am like the website says 6 and the sign on the door does as well. Then he showed me another hand written sign that says 5 we are close. I had just bought $600 Stihl chain saw there about two months ago and was just trying to Buy extra chains for it.This is suppose to be a mom and papas store with better customer service, but apparently the the Lowe’s or Home Depot that is about 5 miles away is place that knows customer service better and like deserves my business. 1 star rating on the high side as well.

2019-11-19Great local business that has great resources and name brands. They have the supplies to help utilize my lawn care needs and if something happens to my tool and I cannot fix it, they have certified mechanics to help. They have a couple locations and we havent gone into one that wasnt helpful. They are knowledgeable on the items they sell too. We will definitely be using this company again in the future.

2019-12-18I, like Mr. Peterson below, must sadly submit a negative review for the Painesville store. Bums me out, because Id previously had good experiences with this business.I took my dads 2-stroke Toro snowblower in for a no-start condition. Told them some of the diagnosis I had done, including confirmation of spark and fuel, and that I suspected the carb either needed to be cleaned/rebuilt or flat-out replaced. After three weeks of not hearing from the business, I called and received no answer several times. Finally, I decided to stop by the location, where I saw a sign that indicated new winter hours of 10am-5pm. Being that this was around 3:30pm, I was confused, so I called the Mentor store and was told theyve been having personnel issues.Fast forward a few days, I finally got a live voice at the place who claimed my dads Toro was running but that they were going to clean the carb out. It would be done later that day, or the next day, and theyd call. Well, as you can guess, I received no call either day. I walked in and asked about it and they had no record of my paperwork.I had to go in the back with the employee and identify the snowblower because they had three of the same model. Mine, which was claimed to have been running, had not been looked at whatsoever. The employee claimed that I needed a new recoil for the snowblower, and that was simply the reason it would not start. At this point, theyd wasted 3+ weeks of my time. So I wheeled the snowblower out of the store and hurled it into the trunk of my car by myself. Took it over to Arkos on Hamilton Drive, where the friendly and professional employee there checked the recoil and gave it a clean bill of health. In other words, the employee at Lake Erie either a) had no clue, or b) was attempting to grift me for parts that my dads snowblower did not need.Arko had dads snowblower fixed the very next day. It needed, as I suspected and told Lake Erie in the first place, a carb cleaning only.
