Well lets start with the fact that 10 teens got into a rated R movie with No ID but my kids who had me and their dad there with them were refused tickets. They also threatened to call the cops when my bf called them out. So I called the female worker out and she accused those same teens she let in right in front of my face of sneaking in so I told her well get in there and ID them and she refused because she knows she was lying. The girl was abnoxious and loud. Very unprofessional. Horrible place. I will NEVER return!
Such a great movie theater. Love how they have kept it with the old school movie theater style. It feels super family oriented. Even never have been there before it felt familiar. Very clean. Very nice crew that works that. Definitely my go to spot for future movie theater ventures. Its a red one
Literally the only movie theatre I go to. Whenever my friends and I plan on going to see a new movie, they all want to come here. Clean, great prices (plus $5 on Tuesday), good popcorn, beautiful location, and theres always close parking... its perfect. Plus gives you a good dose of nostalgia. I love this place.
This privately owned theater is still so great! I went here a lot as a kid and recently caught a film here for the first time in 6 years. The fims look and sound great. They obviously have invested consciously in their projectors and sound systems. Id expect that seating is the next thing theyll spend their money on. That is as long as movie goers keep wanting to experience that authentic downtown theater experience that made Hollywood what it is in the first place.
First time at this theater, and my 4 year old sons first time at a movie theater. We saw Frozen 2. We absolutely loved it! The picture was great, seats were decent yet cushiony. I love old theaters! They maintained this one well. Not to mention the prices. We went to a matinee, and with concessions, we didnt even break the bank! We will definitely be back!
The ambience the fact that its been there for so long the history. Theres nothing quite like going to an old movie theater. I love looking at the old photographs in the exit. The old Neon an art deco of the building cannot be replaced with the experience. Ive actually experienced new movie theaters trying to do this. Im kind of
Always showing great movies at a reasonable price. The popcorn and other foods are not as steeply priced as they are at other theaters. The theater is set on a street downtown where the people gather at restaurants and cafes and various shops. The affordability of this theater is what keeps me coming back, we always check new movies here first. Staff is very quick and helpful as well.
Whats not to say about an older movie theater thats been renovated for the comfort of their customers. They have a counter full of movie goodies, like candy, popcorn, and soda! Plus theres $5 Tuesdays and thats always a great thing for families! Its comfortable to watch movies plus they even offer movies in 3D, which is always a fun time, and it even has an arcade area. Extra bonus, I live in town so I love to support my local community, and this is where my family and I go to watch any movies when theyre in Theater!
This place is a gem! Movies are first run, and the technology is up to date (including 3D!!), yet admission is significantly less than youd pay at a chain theater. Bargain Tuesday makes it even more affordable. Concessions arent cheap, but theyre not outrageous either, and everything is tasty & fresh. Staff and management are pleasant, friendly and helpful. The theater and its furnishings are well kept; everything is clean, including the restrooms. The standard theater seats are comfortable enough for most, and (I believe) a few wider ones are available as well. Handicapped accessibility is excellent! Its seldom crowded, and the view is good no matter where you sit. Even the temperature is well regulated: no freezing in the summer or roasting in the winter. Downside? There is none! Particularly if you live in the Barberton area, if you want to see a movie theres no reason to go any place else.
I use to come here religiously in the mid 90s when I lived in the area. I recently moved back to the area and started coming back last summer when Jurassic World and Solo came out. Tuesday early afternoon is the best time to go see a movie. The last few times I had the movie room to myself. Very clean theater. Elevator is kind of weird though.
I was impressed for my first visit (Thursday evening showing). The tickets prices are less expensive than the cinema chain I normally go to. The popcorn and drink combo was comparable. The concession had a variety of food options (hot dogs, kettle corn, slushies) but I just got popcorn. The staff was friendly. The hallways and theatre were VERY VERY clean. The screen projection and sound were high quality. The seats seemed a little older (less recline and fullness in the cushions) however I wasnt uncomfortable after our 2 hour movie. Parking is to the side and behind the building in case your GPS takes you pass the front (at first I thought it was just street parking). I definitely plan on going back in the future.
Been coming here since I was just a child. Many fond memories of seeing the newest movies with my family or friends. I remember being a teenager and buying tickets to see rated pg movies and then sneaking to watch the rated r movies. Only downfall is that its cheaper these days to stay home, turn on Netflix and but a bunch of snacks from the dollar store. Still cool to come every once in a while and the real d 3d is interesting for some movies. Always good service.
I really like this movie theater. Its a little older, but the prices are good and its never very crowded. My wife and I usually hit the Mexican place down the street, then walk over to catch a movie. I brought my daughter and her friends for Lego Batman; it was in the main theater, which has decent seats and a good picture.Make sure you check out the old school projector in the lobby, between the ticket booth and the food stand. Wicked cool!
A really nice experience. I dont think there is a better cinemas for the money.Matinee prices were better than any other theaters. The seats and some other features arent quite on the same level as others, but the sound wasnt configured to make my head explode like most other places. So that was nice.As the fifth time I had been to the movies in the past few weeks, this was the first place where I could actually get a seat aligned with the the middle of the screen. All the other cinemas had aisles in these prime locations.
I really like Lake 8 cinemas, and still choose them over some of the bigger theaters around. Whether you went here as a kid or just started as an adult, it has an old time feel that I still enjoy (though not over the top). It has good selection of all the new movies that are out, and all the usual concessions.
A historic theatre of great importance and community value. Ticket prices are, on average, lower than Regal or Cinemark. Theatre 1 is a large, grand room with lots of comfortable seating. The remainder are smaller, though no less enjoyable. Refreshments could be considered expensive (as theatre food tends to be). Parking on the street, across the street and the rear lot mean you’re always able to find a decent spot. Overall, clean and well kept, bathrooms are up-to-date and nicely maintained. Unsure if there is an elevator, but there are two huge staircases to get to the second story.
Great movie theatre...the upgrades and new remodeling was totally excellent! I dont know why this theatre is not packed continually...especially with $5.00 Tuesdays!Seats are comfortable, great popcorn, screen is c;ear and large and they have 3D options! ;Keep this theatre alive people!!! Its so handy to get to and lots of parking!
I really like this place after they invested so much money into the building. You first walk in and from the outside it has a old feeling. That is nothing more than a facade. When you get in, pay by credit card or cash. Fandango is not yet.Modern day snack area, the projectors are state of the art Sony 4k.Bathrooms are clean. The last time I was there, the theater was not cleaned before the next movie. So we had to sit in dropped popcorn, buckets, and drink cups. This has only happened this one time of the 100s Ive been here.
Very nice place! Only theater in 40 miles with sensory showings for people with special needs. Took my little sister(shes 10) to the movies for the first time. She had a blast. Kept saying that she was so happy! Only comment would be to turn down the volume a little bit more she only got scared when there was really load explosions(btw it was despicable me 3)
Sorry to say after years of good experiences I had an awful one. People behind us refusing to stop talking and the manager asked them to leave but the refused so we were the ones that had to go. Absolutely ridiculous. While she says I believe you but I didnt see it them swearing at us after being asked to please not speak by both us and the manager.
8 theaters in one plenty to chose from and the popcorn is usually good. They even have kettle corn which I havent tried yet. The theater is 2 floors but they do have an elevator if needed. The drinks and snacks are outrageously expensive but thats the norm for the movies for some reason.
This was my theater growing up all through school. Im not sure what happened after owners switched, the past three times I have gone there has been an older man who works there who is so distracting when trying to watch the movie. He stands in the room the whole time and is constantly walking up and down the aisles and even sits by people who make the tiniest noise.... very unprofessional. Unfortunately I no longer go there, at least while that guy is there. Just very rude to pay for a movie and the worker distract over tiny things like that. Great prices though! Very polite kids who work the concession stand as well!
The best movie place ever! staff is always friendly ...popcorn is always fresh ....place is always clean ...they have $5 movie night on Tuesdays ...its a great location right outside the door is a coffee shop a Mexican restaurant youre one block away from beautiful Lake Anna for a walk after or before the movie
My family and I go here all of the time and have never had a complaint about any of the employees or the theatre until yesterday October 19th during the 5:00 showing of The Addams Family. For the entire movie not only did my family but other families were getting upset at a family of 6 or 7 (grandma, mom, dad, children), everyone of them was loud when they talked which was non stop and then non of them stayed sitting down (grandma and kids sat towards the front and the parents sat in the very back of the theatre) specially the children and they didnt ever just walk but they had to run back and forth from their seats to their parents. After awhile of the disruption I finally went out and asked an employee named Hailey if someone could please ask this family to stop their behavior specially the children, Hailey laughed and said they were aware of the family and what they were doing and that it would be handled. I returned to my seat and never did anyone not even Hailey come into the theatre room and talk with any of the family. On my way out after the show ended I stopped and told Hailey thank you for handling the situation and all I got in return from her was laughing in my face! I will not allow Hailey to keep me from returning because of one bad experience with an employee who didnt want to do their job instead wanted to laugh in my face! I hope in returning to see another movie I hope to never be treated like this again and if there is a problem it will be handled!
Ive always had a good experience here. They usually have a big selection of the newest movies which is really nice as you can always come here. The only reason Im giving it three stars is the price of the food. I know all movie theaters have pricy stuff, but it just seems a little too expensive for me, though they do give you your moneys worth I just wish that they had smaller portions maybe so you can get lower prices.
A beautiful gem in the magic city. Old school theatre with lots of character. Has multiple screens on two floors. The place is big! Lots of seating and angles and wheel chair accessible seeting as well. Buy your tickets online and skip that line :) Its on the strip in downtown Barberton which is a beautiful place to be any time of year. If you love movies and theatre experience, you have to come to lake 8!
Lake Eight is more reasonably priced than the other theaters in the Akron area. $8 most nights, with Tuesdays being $5 nights and all matinees also $5. Concessions and reasonably priced as well. Usually very clean environement. Additionally, you can bring in food and drink items from Kave next door.
Good price but the staff is terrible, I had a bad experience with a rude cashier. I asked to speak to the manager but his response was What do you want me to do about it? I am currently driving past this theater to one that is farther away and has higher prices because the Lake is poorly managed.
Everytime I come here there is always teenagers yelling and acting up. The staff does nothing about, even after hearing it for themselves.Food is basic and tastes like its stale. Its a hole in the wall. People only go there out of convenience.Still a scary part of town after 9pm.Save the money. Go somewhere else.
Owner has been remodeling the whole place including the sound system over the past ten years. Although he did manage to leave some of the original work that was there and all I can say is WOW. When we were there to see the new starwars movie it was freezing outside and it was cold inside. In its defense though the building is old was a first floor viewing and Im a freeze baby to begin with. So I would go again in a heartbeat.
Went to see the Movie Ouija. Usher kept coming in and asking for people to step out in the hall, which was highly distracting. Since I was towards the back I kept missing parts of the movie. The funny part? I could not tell you what the people were doing for him to want them to leave and come back into the movie. I am highly disappointed. On a positive note the movie was pretty good.

2022-06-20Ive been a regular customer at Lake 8 for almost ten years and I love this theater! As a huge movie fan, this is the best place to see a movie. The picture and sound quality is great, the theater is always clean, the staff is always friendly, and the prices are the best around! It is also a well-maintained historic theater, particularly theater #1, which is awesome! I also applaud the recent policy of not allowing those under 16 in after 6:00 without an adult! I appreciate Lake 8 taking steps to make sure their customers have a great movie experience!

2021-12-30They have a budget night and two adults tickets with a large bucket of popcorn and two large pops. Was about 25 dollars. We had fun and there were only 3 people in our theater that evening, including us.They have an old fashoned movie projector that you can look at in the loby.it is amazing how big they are.

2022-06-18Better prices than Regal, plus it was showing the movie we wanted to see. Staff was friendly. I do wonder what the youths were doing where anyone under 16 cant attend with out a guardian. I cant imagine being on high school not being allowed to go on movie dates via the theater.

2022-04-12I love this place! Its old, you walk in and it reminds you of old timey theaters. Staff so small you buy your ticket at the concession counter. Clean, comfortable, good sized theaters, and prices are a bit cheaper.

2019-12-28I grew up in this town but hadnt visited this theater until today! It has an old movie projector that was installed in 1938 and the theaters are warm n cozy. AND Stormtroopers were there promoting the latest movie? Couldnt ask for more 😊
