La Mexicana in other cities:
I love the food and the grocery. Its the best most authentic place in the area. You can find things in the grocery that it is difficult if not impossible to find anywhere near. Now the restaurant. We got shredded chicken burritos which were massive but not chicken..beef. And i also ordered a beef tongue taco which was incredible in its simplicity. Just corn tortilla the meat onions and cilantro. My Spanish is weak so the language is a semi barrier as the workers are mostly if not all native speakers. Possibly why we got beef not chicken. But..go get some. You will not be disappointed.
A Mexican grocery that sells great tacos. Im sure the burritos, quesadillas, and tortas are delicious as well. All of the basics beef stick, shredded beef, beef tongue, pork stomach, El pastor, etc... Delicious and served steaming hot.You can do a combo but I just do the tacos!
Awesome food, friendly staff. I ate a chicken burrito with some hot sauce, and they dont mess around with their hot sauce. My mouth is still on fire! 🥵🌯 But it was so good! Theres also a wide variety of products in the grocery section. A lot of things I havent seen anywhere else. I will definitely be going back soon. 👍😃
Stopped in for a quick bite and was not disappointed. I had a chicken taco with onion and cilantro and a lip-tingling salsa rojo. Checked out the adjoining store to find out well stocked with a butcher counter, small selection of fresh fruit and tasty looking baked goods. Will definitely return.
The place itself its too crowed and its difficult to even walk around while trying to grab an item from the shelves. The same experience goes for the bakery, its simply overwhelming while you are trying to grab your bread to have 5/8 more people to do the same in an extremely tiny confined space, its just not for me, its SO inconvenient. They dont have parking spaces available, you basically have to park on the road where there is not many spaces to legally park. The only good experience at this place was the very friendly customer service oriented guy at the meat/deli department, he was very helpful and courteous. The guy at the register wasnt the friendliest cookie of the tray.Long story short, this place would be great if the layout of the store would be different and with parking spaces available, last but not least, they could use a more friendly customer service attitude.
El Senors makes the best authentic tacos Ive ever had. Definitely worth the drive out there. They make everything fresh to order. The hot, red salsa is amazing. Order in Spanish if you can! There is limited seating, so we usually order ours to go. Its nice to pick up some bakery from the store as well.
Authentic Mexican food. We stopped and ordered some tacos on a friends recommendation. These were very tasty. Prices were decent too. Restaurant is very small. It would easily fit inside my kitchen. The guys running the place was nice enough. I was having a hard time understanding the menu so next time I will have to brush up on my Spanish.
I stop in here at least once a week. Very inexpensive. If you want real authentic Mexican food, then this is where you go. The burritos, corn soft tacos, quesadillas, and the hot sauce is all excellent. I like the steak the best. The only thing they could improve would be to have a delivery service so that when my drunk friends run out of food I can have some tacos delivered :)
Great Mexican grocery and taco stand. Wanted to pick up a few things to try a few new recipes and they had everything. They were really nice helping to locate items I was not familiar with. Definitely will be going back. It was great catching a quick lunch while we were there.
2019 Still great still homemade and still local. Tasty homemade authentic food of central Mexico. Cooked fresh as you wait. Both corn and flour tortillas, bread made daily and wonderful traditional coke a cola. On a sunny day and evening sit outside street-vendor style and enjoy the passers by. Brush up on your colloquial Spanish and earn a free smile as you order your lunch.
Great Mexican grocery storyI am delighted shopping at this grocery store. They carry the Main ingredients for the Mexican cuisine, and the service is very good. They carry the best tortillas in USA ( El Milagro ), great produce, fabulous variety of Mexican Candies, and the Pan de Dulce ( The Mexican sweet bread) is Very Good and always fresh..........FELICIDADES!
I went to this market to see if they had a specific vegetable (a Latin root). I couldnt find it there, but the store is very good. It has many different products and almost any kind of Mexican food and products. I didnt have the opportunity to try any food made by the restaurant inside there but the smell was great. Maybe my next stop there Ill give a try.
Its almost a one stop shop. They have mainly Hispanic items fairly prices along with a meat/deli department. They have a bakery in which you can get a wide variety of delicious breads/pastries! They also have a small restaurant inside work great food and expands outside during warm weather months. Additional parking around the back.
Good authentic mexican food doesnt get much better than this!! This tiny walk up service located inside a small local grocery store that caters to the hispanic community is genuinely better than any sit down mexican restaraunt around. If authenticity is what you want, this is well worth the trip.
Just saw the cook while making tacos with the same pair of gloves, make a taco and drop some stuff, grab a broom and sweep, put it back and make more tacos. All while grabbing more ingredients for other orders and other stuff. Its disgusting. This store is absolutely horrible and dirty and disorganized. Do not go there if you care about your health. Also, they also wrap the paper in the burritos so when you go to remove the paper it unravels the whole burrito. Who the hell does that?
Best Authentic Mexican everything! Fresh pots of tomales on Sat. I ho to get best ssf pices, hominey, beef bones, omg those sweet breads and oye! Have fresh tacos made in their tiny eat in. Note I said authentic so do not expect anyone to speak English. So either know Spanish or know what you want but know these folks are stellar welcoming. I love this little gem!!
The store is small (if you love walmart) I prefer to call it cozy. The people are friendly and helpful. If you dont speak Spanish- dont worry, they will still welcome you with open arms.Is it ironic that you have to go to La Mexicana to have a good old american home town store experience?Authentic foods and products. The Hot sauce and candy selections are out of this world! I usually go there for the pan (awesome) and the various other goodies you cant buy at the hopeless big box stores.Bottom line? 5 stars.
Been there a few times good authentic food. They havnt kept up with providing condements last couple times and the dining area very unkept. Worst part of experience is being treated very cold by employees. It feels like i am not welcomed cause i am non hispanic or somthing but dont know
This is only place in painesville city I goto for my tacos n Mexican food theres a store inside meat counter restaurant and liquor store all in 1spot,but the food is very good people are nice some can speak and understand english very well, only bad thing is resteraunt part only1 table inside 2outside to sit at,I do when its not busy, but usually I order n take home either way same quality and alot of quantity food for prices! Enjoy
A TINY DIAMOND IN PAINSEVILLE...The man behind the meat counter was wonderful! When I asked about a fruit-instead of a general answer he came from behind the counter then walked to the isle and took with him the fruit in question (purple-cactus-pear-type thingy😄)He sliced it accordingly for us to try. The bakery is without question phenomenal and fresh. The tiny restraunt prepared a tasty quesadilla as well. Reasonably priced and well managed.
The reason why this review gets three stars is because of the grocery store - its amazing! You can find everything you need to make you feel like you are in Mexico. Whats bringing the review down is the food served up front. Theres all this talk about it being the most authentic Mexican food in the area, but unfortunately its not. First of all, real burritos dont have rice in them (think Chipotle) just like they serve here. Also, the tortillas used here for the tacos are not authentic tortillas. The ones used here (and many other Mexican restaurants in the area) use preservatives to keep the tortillas fresh and you can taste that. I feel I can speak to this after living in Mexico for almost 5 years and still having family there. If you are looking for legit Mexican tacos, tortas, and quesadillas, look about a mile north from here at La Casita and you will find what youre looking for. Provecho
Stopped there for the first time today. We ordered two chicken burritos to go with everything on them. When we got home and opened the box they were wrapped in one of those wax paper sheets. The steam made the paper all soggy and burrito soggy as well. So soggy that it was impossible to pick them up to eat. They had rice, refried beans, Shredded chicken and some shredded cheese. Since they were impossible to pick up we had to dump it onto a plate to eat. We both threw the burrito shell in the garbage because it was soggy and rubbery. So, our burritos ended up being a plate of rice with dry shredded chicken and refried beans. So disappointing..... never again.Stick with Chipotle......
The best Mexican food is always in the grittiest places, and there’s nowhere on the CLE eastside that proves this better than La Mexicana. I love the quesadillas with various types of fillings. You’ll order at a counter though and although there are a few spotty folding tables and chairs at which to sit, you may want to get it to go. They speak just enough English to get your order. The attached grocery store is where the Latino community in Painesville shops.
This is the Mexican Giant Eagle for Cleveland!! Their tiny food spot here, not even kidding, has the best Mexican food in Ohio! Ive been to almost every Mexican place around here (CLE). No one compares or comes close. I mean these guys are almost at the Cali level of mexican food.I would ignore the bad reviews too, learn some Spanish and your good 😁. Ive had to help people to stop them from trying to order a quesadilla without cheese (thats just a tortilla!!) haha. Never had a problem with the service! If you want to know what to get, people love the quesadillas here but their tacos de asada.... I cant even😥VHD

2022-05-03This is our favorite Latino store in all of NE Ohio! They have great prices on traditional Mexican food items, fresh tortillas, and if you get there early enough in Saturday they have fresh cooked tamales. The restaurant in the side has some great street tacos as well. I highly recommend checking out this little market. 4 stars because the parking sucks.

2022-07-05Great authentic Mexican food made fresh on the grill while you wait. There is also an attached Mexican grocery with items not commonly found in other local stores such as cheap spices, and cactus. They even have homemade tamales and horchata which usually sell out quickly.

2022-03-22Great store. Just need to fix the cash register. I bought 7 cookies, yet on my receipt it was printed: 75 @ $0.07. Confusing, right? As if I bought 75 cookies at 7 cents each. I asked the clerk and he said thats just the way the machine works.
