My wife and I were in the mood for some Mexican food and La Jaiba was not far from where we were. We enjoyed the family feel of the staff and felt welcomed. We ordered Lunch Specials and the portions were very generous. I really enjoyed the Chori Pollo that I ordered. My wife, although she prefers another restaurant, she certainly ate all the goodies that came with the chicken fajitas she ordered. Look them up and stop in for a good bite to eat.
This unassuming hole in the wall features real, authentic Mexican food. I was treated to likely the finest Mexican cuisine I have ever had. Even my father who spent the last two decades near the border in Texas agreed. The fried tilapia and tacos were crispy and succulent. The friendly owner and staff were very personable, and you could feel that they earnestly wanted to provide an enjoyable dining experience. To top it all off, the pricing was far more than reasonable, it had me questioning how such quality food could be provided at such a low price. I would heartily recommend for anyone who appreciates quality cuisine to try out La Jaiba Seafood & Taqueria.
Wow, great food! After seeing reviews online we had to check it out, and we werent disappointed. We unfortunately didnt get to try a margarita, they said they cant serve alcohol on sundays. My Burrito was huge, and delicious. Wife had a chimichanga enchilada combo, which was great too. Seems like a really nice family restaurant.
Been here a few times and always impressed. Everything has been cooked perfect and with great flavor. The menu is mostly the Americanized Mexican were familiar with but the food quality is a lot better than your standard restaurant. Its very hidden, just go past the Hertz office.
I think I found a favorite spot to eat. Different style flavored sauces to choose from. Red bottle has a spicy kick and very delicious and the green is a mild and also very delicious. CeCy was my waitress and she was kind and generous with helping me with figuring out my meal selection and introducing me their famous sauces.Im glad I stop here for lunch.
In my search for any good food in this whole city, Ive finally located a solid place. Stopped by for lunch. Chose a burrito with rice and beans. Everything was fantastic. Im not a fan of flour tortillas, but I didnt even mind in this case. Food was hot, fresh and filling. Chips and salsa were good. Everyone working was helpful and quick. Ill absolutely be returning.
Absolute best Mexican In Cincinnati and Ive been to Mexico. I forgot to tell them to leave the rice off because I never eat it, but I ate their rice, great flavor for everything and a pleasant heat to it, not overpowering. But if you want to try it, their hot salsa will literally knock your socks off. Most places Ive been to if you order more ground beef, it is simply that ground beef with no flavoring for seasoning. Theyre ground beef has a hunting taste flavors I will definitely be coming back
Love the food and the service! Excellent chips & salsa, and you cant go wrong with the appetizers or entrees. My favorite is the mixed veggie burrito (its huge!) and they steam the veggies just right. My husband loves the taco salad with shredded chicken or the La Jaiba Burrito. We eat there at least once a week.
Absolutely fantastic place with deals all through the week. So far I’ve been here a couple times, I’ve had the burrito loco which was unbelievable with flavor and spot on and more than enough food for one. This time o got the chicken quesadilla with a soft taco. It was by far one of the best quesadillas I’ve ever had and the soft taco put me at the perfect amount of fullness. I highly suggest this place for lunch or dinner. It’s amazing every time.
Well a friend recommended me this restaurant la jaiba seafood the food is not bad the only problem is this one was the first time and we found inside the food a rubber band and i tip them but i never paid attention that i had already taken the tip and they grabbed the highest so i guess we have to paid attention bout before pay
We stopped here on a whim and are so glad we did! The food was so delicious! We had mole enchiladas and a chicken and chorizo quesadilla and giant margaritas. The mole sauce was perfect and we had nothing to complain about on anything we ate. Staff was personable. Our whole experience was perfect from beginning to end.
A little hidden gem that serves up fresh, succulent seafood plates and robust menu of chicken, beef and vegetarian options. Its tucked away in the corner of the strip mall and worth the search. Dont expect anything fancy, its all about the incredible food and wonderful service.
First time here. Great food! Authentic feel. Great service. The owner recommended two Burritos and they were delicious. And huge. He made us feel very welcome and you can see and taste that he takes great pride in every dish. Also, We didnt know this until our bill came but kids eat free on Sundays. Our new favorite Mexican restaurant.
This is a nice spot we stumbled upon. Great service from a super friendly staff. By it being our first time there the waitress was patient and informative. See how I was indecisive. Hats off to the cooks. Everything was cooked properly and very flavorful. If your looking for a place to get some Mexican cuisine give La Jaiba a shot.
We were in the area for a day trip and stopped at this place after trying two other places that werent open or were packed. This is tucked away in the corner of a little plaza so it is a hidden gem.The menu here is HUGE - if you dont find something to like, theres a problem. We had the chorizo queso (grill dip) and it was DELICIOUS - best queso Ive ever had. Maybe more chorizo than cheese in a little cast iron skillet served with a few tortillas in addition to chips. We just tried the tacos ($2.50 each), but they were decently sized (bigger than the little street tacos) and a good portion of meat in each. The Margaritas were giant and mixed well.Id definitely come back to this place again. 11 out of 10.
This place is never not amazing. Ive never had an incorrect order my order is always ready when I arrive. Everyone is friendly, smiling and treats you like youre a valued guest or atleast a really solid friend. The prices to be honest are to inexpensive. The value for the money is just insane. I feel like I need to leave a $10 tip even for Togo orders. Seriously if you havent tried this little slice of Mexican heaven youre missing out. Im 5 minutes from 2other Mexican establishment in Loveland and drive out of my way to order from here. You wont be sorry. Oh yeah and dollar tacos on Tuesday no limit.
My son and I just returned from the most delicious Mexican meal we’ve ever had. We both got burritos and they were the largest and most flavorful dishes! And their salsa and queso were excellent too.The service was excellent and friendly and fast. We were told they make everything from scratch there and I believe it.We highly recommend this little place. You can easily miss it back in the corner of the shopping center. In fact, we have lived here a year and a half and never knew how excellent it was.
La Jaiba might be the best Mexican restaurant in the city. Their Barbacoa special is to die for and the burritos, tortas, and tacos are all amazing. I havent personally tried much of their seafood, but its on my list and the plates and soups Ive seen brought out for others look delectable.
This restaurant is a neighborhood gem. The food is delicious and original. The owners are very nice. Last night we went out with family friends to celebrate a birthday, and at the end of the dinner they brought out an amazing churro plate. It is a very warm and friendly place that I would recommend to anyone who wants to eat delicious and authentic Mexican food.
If someone suggests going to a mexican restaurant I always suggest this place as this is a great hole in the wall find. I first went here on a date night with my wife and the tacos were so delicious. The owner came by our table and talked to is about the restaurant and always wanting to open something of her own. I highly recommend this place.
The most amazing, personal, and friendly service. Family owned and the owners both came by several times to visit with us and chat a bit. They were so incredibly sweet! The chips, salsa, and guacamole were the best! You wont think much at initial appearance of the restaurant, but dont write it off! Enjoy the personal homey atmosphere and the fresh cooked food!
Great food and service. Family owned and everyone was really friendly. Also some great pricing and deals for days of the week. Tuesday was tacos and kids eat free on Sunday. We were sad they didnt have margaritas but he told us in the next month or so they will! Will be coming back.
They now have margaritas. We had a small pitcher of frozen and they were just OK not worth the $22.00 price tag. However, the service and the food ( taste and portion) made up for them. Will definitely stick to a beer or 2 here. Will most likely make this our new weekly Mexican night restaurant. It was a good experience.
This restaurant is my first choice place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. Whenever I I need a decent dinner, this is the place that comes first to my mind. very good and many types of food and a large menu.courteous team, and good atmosphere. Also, the bill is honest. I praise this spot with no hesitation.
Kind of a hole in the wall but the food was good, reasonable and service was exceptional. Place was hopping and its good to see a small business doing well, it says something about the restaurant. Wife thought her food was a bit spicy but it is a Mexican restaurant so you have to ask if concerned, which she did not. I was very happy with my shrimp fajitas although I would preferred they cooked it in a little less oil. All in all a good experience. I saved a bit of money using SavingsGuide a Entertainment book company. Will definitely go back.
This restaurant is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to this restaurant. Whenever I I need a fair dinner, this restaurant comes straight to my mind. superb and all kinds of food and a large list of dishes.courteous crew, and great vibes. In addition to that, the tariff is good. I suggest this restaurant with great pleasure.
My boyfriend and I went here last night for the first time and we absolutely loved it! The chips, queso, and salsa were delicious along with our meals. This place is very family friendly and the service was awesome. We were checked in on multiple times by the friendly staff members...I would 100% recommend this restaurant!
Mixed Emotions - Id detail rate this at 3.5 to 3.75 stars. In the interest of trying to help boost a small business, and because Google only believes in whole numbers, I rounded up to 4.This family owned & operated restaurant is hidden in a small corner shop of a quiet shopping center. Service was fast and friendly. From there, my wife and I had somewhat different experiences on our stop for lunch passing through town...She said the bathroom had some maintenance issues with the sink, painters tape held electrical wires together, and many tiles were cracked. She ordered a cheese burrito which had no cheese, very little meat, and a half pound of lettuce. After 1/3 of the burrito she split it down the middle and pulled out the lettuce and ate the small amount of steak that was within.I have what some might call a taco problem. I ordered 2 tacos asada, 2 carnitas, 2 chorizo. The carnitas were good. The asada was better. The chorizo was great. Most places my favorite is the asada and Im often disappointed by the chorizo. One bite into my chorizo taco I put it down and tried the asada. I saved the chorizo for last because it was so flavorful and the perfect texture. Probably the best chorizo Ive had inmany, many moons. So, take from us what you will. If youre looking for the 5-star pristine condition beefy serving size, maybe hit a chain. If youre craving a classic authentic taco with a Corona & lime to trick your mind into thinking youre back in a little cantina down south, this is your place.***Always tip your waitstaff and bartenders!***(8/9/2020)
I love this place. All the reviewers are right. Family owned and excellent food. There are no alcohol but its still excellent especially for families. Great, respectful and good staff. It was my first time but it wont be the last. The prices are also very good. And the free chips are warm and yummy and also the salsa. Just try it
I had these tacos for the first time and I tried the steak, shrimp, and grilled chicken and I had to say they were outstanding. Probably my favourite place that Ive found in Cincinnati. Far better than anything at El . A small place but great service and food, Id highly recommend giving it a try.
I cant say enough about this place. My family eats this on a regular basis!! The owners are SO kind. They take pride in the food they make. The food is amazing. I can honestly get 3 meals out of one order of fajitas!!! The chorizo grill dip is consistently on point, and the guac is heaven. Like I said, I cant say enough!! I would go on and on if I could.
My wife found this place. As soon as I walked in the door I felt like I was back in Mexico. The chips and salsa was excellent. Not too cilantro, not too hot. When we go to a new Mexican place I always get the shrimp chimichanga, a good benchmark dish. This was nice and crispy, the shrimp was cooked perfectly. You cook those little bugs too long and theyre tough and awful. They nailed it. You can tell the food is good because the signage at the street is minimal, the restaurant is almost impossible to see from the parking lot, and yet the place was packed. You can also tell the food is good when the clientele has a decent number of Hispanics sitting at the tables. Well be back, hasta luego!
I stopped in at La Jaiba for lunch with a few coworkers last week and it was delicious. I ordered three tacos, they were all great but I highly, highly recommend the campechanos taco. When they realized it was our first time visiting they gave us a free order of guacamole. It is located in the corner of the small shopping strip and can be hard to see if you arent paying attention. Definitely stop in!
Fellow Texans, this where you should go if you miss the Mexican cuisine of our home state.Im sad that I only discovered this place 7 months after moving to Cincy. My husband and I ordered enchiladas because its a comforting dish for cold weather.Chicken enchiladas for him and Enchiladas Fiesta for me. Both were excellent, flavorful, and warm. The shredded chicken in them is amazing even by itself. The salsa and guacamole is also very goodI was also pleasantly suprised they had Topo Chico mineral water, which is not as easy to find as it is in Texas.Im happy I finally found something that tastes like home.
The chips and Salsa good. Guacamole was very good. After that I thought the combo plate was sub par - potatoes and peas in my beef burrito? And can you imagine the headache after listening to two radios blasting in the restaurant - the one in the dining room and the louder one coming out of the kitchen on a different Mexican channel. Iritating. Seriously? That was my second visit. Wont return.
My fist visit, our server suggested the tacos. I ordered 3, a carnitias, steak, and seasoned pork with fresh “salad” cilantro and onion toppings - they were amazing. Highly recommend and now one of my favorite Mexican restaurants without the hassle of going downtown to Bakersfield or Nana. No liquor license, but flavor, value ($25 for 2 dinners) and cleanliness will keep bringing me back.
Food was very bad. I can honestly say I have seen better meals in a dog dish. No taste at all. Service was even worse, very rude and this was from the owner.I dont understand the good reviews. The only thing I can figure is people are so use to bad quality and service they dont know good from bad. Will never go back.
Want to know how to tell if a Mexican restaurant is authentic? Try the rice and beans and the salsa. If the rice and beans have no flavor, like prepackaged blandness and the salsa tastes like someone mixed in ketchup to dumb it down, then you havent found the right place.La Jaiba has flavor. This is the real deal and thats hard to find in Ohio. This will be a regular place for me now. I had a seafood burrito and it came with lots of seafood. Lots of shrimp and scallops and it was good. I couldnt finish it.Its a small place tucked back in a corner of an older strip mall. Theres no alcohol yet and the owners are there cooking and serving and chatting with the customers. This is it, the right place to go to for good authentic Mexican food.
Small family restaurant with great dishes. The tamales were almost as good as mom used to make, and the frijoles are unique: creamy and just a little spicy. This little restaurant is tucked inside the corner of a strip mall and is a little hard to find. So much better for the rest of us.2018 Feb
This place is delicious! The staff are very friendly and prompt. We called in a large order and even had to add to it after placing it. The man on the phone was very courteous and patient helping with everything. When I picked up the order, he even helped me take it to my car as it was multiple bags. Everything was correct and we all wanted more! Great place!
I really love this place so so much. I really don’t even leave reviews that often but this place absolutely deserves every bit of praise it’s ever received. Everything is great the atmosphere the food super authentic and so delicious. Better than any hipster joint in OTR or anywhere else if you want truly authentic food from people that know what they’re doing, go here.
La Jaiba Seafood & Taqueria serves up genuinely delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine in an area surrounded by franchise restaurants. So glad I stopped here instead of the fast-food I was going to have. I had a huge sized plate of Camarones a la Mexicana (scrumptious grilled shrimp & peppers with rice, beans & fresh tortillas). $11.99 was a bargain for the amount of food I got. They will also bring over Salsa and Nacho chips while you are waiting for your food. Definitely give this place a visit if you are in the area.

2022-03-20We went to La Jaiba Seafood and Tanqueria alast night and it was the best Mexican food I have had in Cincy so far. As soon as you walk in the aroma of the spices hit you. Pictures don’t do this place justice. The vibe is mom and pop/hole in the wall but with a ton of regulars. The owner knew that we hadn’t been in before and chatted us up and made some great recommendations! Below is the Pollo Feliz and the La Jaiba Burrito. Packed with flavor, I don’t think I’ll be able to go somewhere else until I go through the menu. Very authentic, like going to a small village in Mexico with generational knowledge about how to prepare the perfect meal!

2022-03-11Best Mexican food in Cincinnati and/or our tri-state area. My wife and I love Mexican food and have eaten at many of the local places in Cincinnati, Kentucky and Indiana. We thought we knew what the best in the area was…until yesterday. This was by far the best we’ve ever had! Every dish was prepared from scratch and we were blown away by the quality of food, the portions and the price! Our table was even visited by the owner, and she was very friendly, kind and appreciative that we were there! We will definitely be back soon and often. My mom who is 82, even loved the food and raved about the flavor, quality and portion size for the money. She’s not very adventurous with her foods, but couldn’t agree more that this place had to delicious food. She tried everything on her plate, my plate and my wife’s plate and loved it all!

2021-10-23The best Mexican food Ive had in Cincinnati. Chips were fresh and thick. Salsa was good and we also got the skillet queso with chorizo. It was spicy but not too much so. Really good. I had the La Jaiba burrito with chicken, steak, pork, chorizo, rice, beans, sour cream, cheese sauce and shrimp. This thing was huge! In the pic I put my glasses in front of the plate for a size reference. My wife ordered an enchilada and burrito with chicken. All of the food had bold flavor and there was plenty of it! We are definitely planning on going back!

2022-04-01Phenomenal lunch! Sliding through Cincy, slipped and fell into this wonderful tucked away paradise. Small, friendly, and delicious. I got seated right away, drinks came fast, service was excellent! The staff was very very friendly, I ate with a smile on my face. Margarita definitely had me buzzin cousin! Fajita nachos were seasoned to perfection! Salsa is fantastic as well!

2022-04-23Everywhere Ive lived, Ive had a go-to Mexican restaurant. La Jaiba is my place here in Cincinnati. I would even say its the best Ive tasted. The portion sizes are very generous. My wife takes at least half of her burrito home for lunch the next day. If you like Dos Equis or Modelo with your meal, 16, 22 and 32oz. options are available at a reasonable price. I love this place.

2022-05-26Good food. I got the California Seafood. The shrimp was a little tough, but the tilapia was fantastic. The sauce and veggies were also very good. They also had bottles of Heineken 0.0

2022-04-24Go to this place if you want authentic mexican food! We ordered Pollo Con Hongos and Cancun especial, they were both delicious. They served the food faster than we had imagined. To top it, their menu is extensive and affordable. Also, the customer service was excellent!
