Kung Fu Tea in other cities:
Their hours said they close at 7:30pm today. I got there at 6:54pm and the door was locked and I saw a sign on the door that said closed at 7pm for maintenance, which is fine. However, I was there 6 minutes before that. It’s not good business practice to close earlier than your posted sign, I understand maybe 1-2 minutes but 6 is unacceptable. This isn’t the first time this happened, it seems like the employees are just lazy.
The slowest service (even when Im the only person in line), the drinks taste pretty bad, and theyve only gotten my name right once for my orders. Their straws are not covered in a wrap (which is really unsanitary during COVID times) and they have you use a touch screen for card payments, which they dont sanitize in between uses.
Oh Kung Fu Tea. You used to be my go to whenever I needed a treat during undergrad. About 5 years ago, the drinks were fresh and delicious. One extra star for the nostalgia factor I guess. Now, every time I’ve resorted to giving you another chance (most likely bc I’m too lazy to go to Asiatown) your drinks make me feel ill. I’m not sure if it’s the sugar level, the lack of fresh tapioca, or maybe the tea, but about halfway through a cup, I’m always super jittery and slightly nauseous. And this never happens with any other boba I’ve had literally anywhere else. Ever. Here’s to hoping you figure out what’s going on...and maybe organize your front of house a bit. The counter and tea making station are looking a bit rough
Feels like a chain but my bubble tea was delicous. The service also good. The food is a little expensive seeing as how you can get the same food in the hood for cheap. The quality is pretty good though. When its packed it will feel like an Asian inspired Chipotle that serves Bubble Tea but the service will always be good.
I got the teriyaki bowl, which was delicious! Their bubble milk tea is definitely the best Ive ever had (and I have been to a lot of places for bubble milk tea). It is a tad bit pricey but nothing outside of a reasonable range for the amount and quality of food you receive. I definitely recommend it :)
The ginger milk tea is SO good...omg. It has strong hints of actual ginger with an overall gingerbread flavor. The watermelon or winter melon milk tea isnt as creamy and sweet as the other bubble teas. It has more of a strong tea taste. Still good, but people should be aware that they dont all taste the same.
Great personal service and I find the prices are more reasonable than other coffee shops in the area. Wide selection of coffee and tea drinks, but also have smoothies and other yummy, non-caffeinated drinks. The hot apple cider (with salted caramel flavoring!!!) is delicious- better than Starbucks. And they offer almond milk for the vegans/lactose intolerant.
Nice place, and location. Really good staff and good service. Clean. I just hate the menu, not authentic! Soy/rice paper wrap on sushi--so bad! Sushi should not be warm and doughy! Bubble tea was made well enough but I found it to be bitter. The ingredients were fresh enough but the menu items are just bad recipes! Stick to the traditional, authentic sushi ingredient combos! Also the rice layer was too thick. Miso soup was bland. Sorry to say.
Waited too long for bubble tea. Instead of fulfilling order, the staff were busy socializing and standing around. We entered an empty store and placed our order. People that came in after and ordered food received their orders before my brother and I. We eventually had to ask at the counter about our drinks. They finally gave us our drinks after 15 mins of waiting and no apology. Never again.
I was in a week ago ordering 6 bubble tea drinks.I saw one of the girls on the cold food line (ready to eat) leaving her nose expose from her mask. That drove me nuts! Not even the other employees said anything to her. Everybody had themselves covered all the way. Good thing i dont eat their food there!Hope no one gets disgusted!
I ordered a large with no red beans. they gave me a medium. when I told them I ordered a large, they took the medium and poured it into a large cup, Then filled the rest with red beans and boba, and didnt add any tea. It was an insane amount of beans. I strained it out and it was an astonishing sight to behold. I guess Ill have beans for dinner. - Eliza
I have been to this place many times and do recommend it. Today, was somewhat a little different. I noticed my drink came up at the usual pace but the food portion longer than necessary. The time of this visit was on the slower side for the restaurant so I was expecting everything to be flying out at the usual speed. The food did take longer due to vegetables being made for it. Definitely understandable but this is where I took one star off, after the food was set up on the window and ready to be served, the person at the register walked away and started helping make drinks. I looked over and the food was sitting there getting cold. A little disappointing as no one bothered looking at the window to bring the food to the front where I can go get it. It took about 4-5 minutes before someone noticed and then another minute to figure out what was going on with it before it was handed to me.The person that put the food up in the window lacked communication with the person at the register. Nothing was said nor was a sign given about the food being ready.Usually at a hectic time for this place, everything is as smooth as a hot knife running through butter. On average, a busy day I am able to get my specialty drink and food given to me in about 5-6 minutes, today, it was given to me in about 12-13 minutes. Pretty disappointing but since I was waiting for someone, I did not complain to them about it.
This bubble tea place is by far my favorite in Cleveland!First, the staff is extremely friendly! The head manager is really funny and upbeat. Other employees are efficient and lively. The delivery of the sushi and the bubble tea is quick and tastes amazing. They make the best wintermelon milk tea and oolong milk tea!If you are a student, this is definitely a great spot to study! The dining are is very cozy and a great environment to get in the zone and grind for exams. Even though, Im not a student in the area, I do enjoy doing work here!
Friendly enough staff and cool vibe inside. Choose between the coffee lounge scene, flower area or watchful section on the other side. Like the vibe and a stay place to make a stop but feel some kind of way about paying $10 for a cold brew, Ham and cheese croissant and $1 tip...dont think it was that great to be so expensive.
Have been coming here for the longest time for the bubble tea, and occasionally for the teriyaki bowls. The bubble tea is high quality, and the teriyaki bowls arebalso pretty good. Recently got in to sushi so I tried that the other day and it is a great deal for the amount you get. First time having deep fried sushi too! (Was alright, but deep frying it seemed to negate the freshness, which to me is the main draw of sushi)
I ordered the teriyaki chicken with fried rice. It was... not good. Especially for the price. Every chicken piece was fatty and I think I got the bottle of the barrel because there were so many small scraps. I ended up throwing away all of the chicken. The fried rice was not good either. It was basically white rice with some veggies and eggs. I would have said it has no flavor, but it was swimming in teriyaki sauce. Yuck.
Not impressed, drink didnt taste correct, order wasnt entered properly so I was missing the toppings I had requested and I had waited so long as it was to get the drink (people who ordered after me got theirs first 😤) that I didnt have time to request a fix because I had an appointment to get too.
Hands down the best and most legit bubble tea spot in Cleveland and possibly the US, we are so lucky to have a place like this in town! The best part about this place (aside from being attached to a quick casual sushi joint) is the variety of options and that the sugar and ice levels are customizable. Some favorites are the taro, Oreo milk teas and lychee and mango.
We got sushi and teriyaki, neither one was impressive. The teriyaki was bland and the sushi was ok. We also got juice, some with the bubbles and some without. The juice without the bubbles was terrible and the juice with the bubbles was worse. I will not go back to this place again.
Clean, fast, and nice food. Lots of options.Wooden, cushion-less benches make sitting for longer periods a bit uncomfortable, but that probably helps to keep clients circulating.A bit pricey ($10 - 18), but this is to be expected given its proximity to campus and possibly cost of somewhat custom ingredients (e.g. various teas & sushi, boba, deserts, teriyaki bowls, etc.)

2022-03-31It is one of the best boba tea I have ever had in Cleveland ! The shop is little too smelly but I really enjoyed the tea. They have good range of flavors in tea and bubbles! Little too concentrated in strawberry lemonade. But I was really impressed and definitely would go again for boba tea.

2022-04-21I never heard of this restaurant before, but ended up ordering a drink online while I was waiting for my food at Capos to be prepared. I’m not local to the area, so I wanted to maximize my food experience and ordered the Thai milk tea. The online platform allowed you to not only order your drink ahead of time, but also customize your order. Without knowing anything about this restaurant, I ordered my drink with light ice, sweetness was a 1, and I didn’t add anything to it because I had no idea what would be good. I was able to pick my drink up earlier than the order stated, so it was ready quickly. It unfortunately wasn’t what I expected, but it wasn’t horrible either. It was not sweet at all, which was fine because I didn’t know how to gage the sweetness level when ordering. I’ve had authentic thia tea many times and this tasted like black tea with milk in it vs what I am used to.I’d like to come back and try something else I would probably ask for a suggestion from the staff so I could find a popular item or a good combination of a drink and add ins.

2022-02-08My matcha boba was good, but I’ve had better. This is probably one of the better boba places out of the very few options we have in Cleveland

2021-11-14I went here for bubble tea. I am grateful there is a place that has Boba here. I would have preferred a milk tea but they didnt have dairy-free options I felt good about - something from a powder and artificial creamers doesnt sound good to me. I think I got spoiled by Boba Guys in California using real almond milk and coconut milk. The hot green tea boba that I did order was good, though.

2021-05-27Kung Fu Tea is part of the oriental restaurant Kenko, Japanese name for “health”, which is a great concept, it is “fast food” so you can have a healthy Teryaki bowl, or sushi rolls, sashimi/niguiri on the go, and also can choose an endless variety of bubble teas, coffee and other tea flavors. The amability and prompt service are definitely the five star I’m giving to this place. Nancy was adorable and nice, and wanted to get my name right (Graziella, italian) and she was attentive to the end to spell it right to place my order.Limited seating but fresh and has great light.

2022-05-13It took a staff of 5 more than 20 minutes to make a single drink, and make it incorrectly. Half of them were on their phones just standing around, and the girl at the register didn’t even help me when I was at the register because she was on her phone. God awful customer service, how can someone be this terrible at their iob.

2020-03-04Its good to have stations where you can place your order at your own pace. I wanted to have a hot drink, but somehow, I couldnt choose hot. My order took so long because of that and I felt sorry for the person behind me (only one station was working). I asked the staff how to choose hot and he said they did not serve hot drinks. What a disappointment!Their service was slow. I could say it was the slowest bubble tea making I have ever experienced. Also, they did not make our drinks correctly. I suspected that they kind of mixed up different directions for the two drinks we ordered. All in all, the drinks tasted good; their review score is not high for nothing, I suppose. Their service, on the other hand, was less than average.

2020-09-18This would have been a 4 star review, because the winter melon bubble tea was delicious and the staff were awesome, but, when I went at around 6:45p today, the restaurant was too crowded for the rooms floor plan. About 13 customers, all wearing masks, were ordering/ waiting to order/ waiting to pick up orders in a space that didnt allow for social distancing with that many people inside there. I dont think Ill be visiting Kung Fu Tea/Kenko while that many people are able to be in their bottleneck-laden space* at once. Maybe there could be a limit on how many people can be inside at one time?Other restaurants that allow for indoor ordering and carry-out ask you to wait outside until your order is ready (Rood Food and Pie in Lakewood did well with this). I think Kenko/Kung Fu Tea should do this too.*Theres a half wall partition that takes up the middle of the room, and along the walls there are caution-taped table tops and bar stools. This leaves a narrow aisle for you to stand in while you wait for your order (about 4 feet wide), and makes it cramped when you try to pass people to collect your order (less than 2 ft between you and people you have to pass if its crowded like it was today).
