Alot of people have told me not to shop at this store, because everyone especially the cashiers dont like people of color. So I decided to go and get some fruit and they hit the nail on the head.I felt very unwanted so I want to let anyone of color know not to spend your money at this store as you noticed. theyhave no other race working there. I will always use my voice on reviews to stop people of color going to places like this. You do not have take it.
Ive shopped at Kriegers for decades. Make no mistake, I LOVE the fresh produce, fish and specialty products at Kriegers but it is not a pleasant shopping experience due to the rude employees.I shopped there this morning and was treated so rudely from a man unboxing produce, at the deli counter and from a cashier. I had an issue with a bottle of spray cleaner that came undone and spilled all over my cart. No one offered to help. I always treat everyone with kindness and respect and its shocking to be treated so rudely as a customer.Management needs to address this situation since these reviews are peppered with similar complaints. Its a problem.
Great produce! Staff is usually cordial, I wouldnt say they are over the top great staff. Sometimes the teenage cashiers can be a little well, teenage. I think some customer service training would go a long way. I shop here because its close, they have above the average produce, and prices are usually really decent. Always felt customer service was lacking. Ive never once been asked if I was finding things ok, or offered suggestions about great pics for that day or anything similar to that. Staff usually says nothing unless specifically addressed and then at that its minimum feedback. I also feel like the layout of the store has no real flow to it which makes the experience a bit rough sometimes. Especially when theres a lot of customers inside. Just trying to be honest. It is a decent place to shop though.
I like this place, but there are issues. The staff by and large are not friendly. I am not expecting a carpet at my feet, but if your machine rings up a price incorrectly and I call it out, there is no reason to get angry. If you do not accept coupons without an expiration date, dont let coupons stay on products and post a sign to that effect. If you are not going to let me know if a special order product is in, please dont take special orders. There are little things like that which send me to Seven Grains, which is the same distance from my house as this place. I like the huge assortment of local foods. I also like the inclusion of vegan and vegetarian items. The discount veggie area can also make a trip worthwhile. I like the fresh squeezed OJ machine. Other than the above rude incidents, one thing that has happened to me that was concerning and on two separate trips was that I bought products that had been opened previously. Whether used for samples or something else I dont know. It included a nut butter and pita dippers. The total was under $10 each time, so I didnt make the drive back, but please - whatever store you shop at - make sure the tamper resistant seals are on. Also, Id like to see Kriegers use less plastic.
They have a unique selection of food, including the everyday necessities. Honestly, I wanted to give 3 or 4 out of 5 stars due to the outrageous prices Ive seen, but fact of the matter is, Id probably not have seen and tried as many new foodstuffs. Thank you for your wide range of choices.
Used to love this place!! But wow the staff I have interacted with ... RUDE! Deli lady is rude, the ordering lady is mouthy. I guess thats the normal at Kreigers since others are rude when asked a question in store. But to top it off I called the other day to get a price on something to send money with the person picking it up for me, they said they would not give me a price over the phone I told them I wasnt price shopping and asked if they can just give me an about amount example is $5 sufficient or should I send $10 and they wouldnt even do that. I called Whole Foods in Akron they were happy to help.
Good produce, reasonably priced. Narrow aisles. I am editing my review. While they still have good produce, they have taken to increasing use of plastic. Now, individual Bell peppers are being wrapped in plastic. For a store that advertises organic and natural foods, they are not very environmentally conscious.
I have a medical condition so I can’t wear a mask. My medical exemption was not accepted and I was denied access to the store. If I have to shop online I’ll do it through one of the established online stores. So much for supporting local business, and so much for compassion and freedom.
Ive been shopping at Kreigers for nearly 14 years and have never been disappointed. Their selection of produce is better than any other market in the area. Prices are cheaper than supermarkets and the store is right-sized so you can get everything you need quickly. I moved to a neighboring suburb and now drive out of my way just to shop there. They have the coolest things there that you just dont find anywhere else! Deli is amazing, especially with their Mediterranean-inspired dishes! I will remain a loyal customer.
Some of their employees are really friendly, however some are just plain rude. That can be applied to some of the customers as well. I see myself going to Whole Foods 365, Mustard Seed, Heinens, and Giant Eagle more, as I wanted to give Krieger one more chance since its a local business and I like supporting local, but , unless Im in a pinch, I will not be going back.
Its a nice place for reasonably priced produce and deli items. I dont come here for the organic or specialty items but I see a large selection of both of those here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing that could be better is slightly bigger aisles but it is what it is. 5 Stars in my book!
I have lived all over the country. This is easily the best grocery store Ive ever visited. Locally sourced foods half the price of chains, organic and conventional options, knowledgeable employees, and the orange juice juicer for when you are sick are among the many reasons why to visit
I always stop here to buy deli items and produce as it is always GREAT. Some items are a little more expensive but most of the time things like green peppers, onions, corn, tomatoes, are CHEAPER here than Marcs and FRESHER. It has a nice feel to it as well. Kinda takes you back in time a little where there were FAMILY owned and FAMILY ran businesses . The ONLY thing that annoys me is going to the check out and handing them CASH such as a twenty and a ten dollar bill and most EVERY TIME THEY HOLD THE BILLS TO A LITTLE LIGHT NEXT TO THE REGISTER TO SEE IF THE MONEY IS REAL.....It makes ME feel like a CRIMINAL so NOW, I ALWAYS PAY ONLY WITH A CREDIT CARD and THAT probably COSTS the store EXTRA to process a CREDIT CARD sale but at least they do NOT hold up the line CHECKING TO SEE IF YOU GAVE THEM REAL CASH or not. Other than that little thing,it is really cool to shop here.
Kriegers has an excellent selection of produce and other healthy foods at reasonable prices. You can find things there that arent available anywhere else. However, they often leave foods out until after they spoil. Nuts go rancid, fruit rots, bread molds, packaged food goes nasty. However, Ive not had a problem with moths in the bulk foods yet (common elsewhere). Shop with caution and you can get great stuff. The meat/seafood labeling is not always accurate - sometimes fish comes from a different location than listed and the grassfed beef and bison is no more grassfed than conventional beef (not grass-finished, but simply pastured while a calf). The long-time employees are very friendly and remember regulars, but sometimes are misinformed about their products and will just tell you what they think you want to hear. The management is unfortunately racist and will have employees follow black people or anyone who looks poor around the store to make sure they dont steal anything. Also be cautious about eating the samples - they are reused day to day if possible and grubby children get their hands in there. That all said, Kriegers is a local business that offers great foods for well-off white people willing to tolerate occasionally being tricked into buying bad food. I still shop there sometimes.
Typically Im very satisfied with kriegers however today there were several employees not complying with the mask order. The deli guys had plastic face shelds but nothing covering their nose and mouth. I expected better from kriegers. Every employee Ive seen at other grocery stores has been in compliance.
Two stars because they have certain products such as propolis which you can’t find anywhere else. The prices are very high. I also wish the people there were more positive Ive caught some negative vibes from a couple employees and some customers who have their head way up their bung hole...that’s just not cool... that is definitely a problem! Checking other posts here too, I can tell I’m not the only one who has noticed this so beware...lol it’s definitely got some strange vibes:(
The people that complain about the produce going bad quickly here is because they don’t understand that it’s organic. The GMOS are what preserve your food for unnatural amounts of time.everything here is great especially if you need gluten free or lactose free product. Best specialty store in the area
Hadnt shopped here in years, as it wasnt convenient. Now that Im closer, Ive been here twice in the last month. I wont be back. First time, store was so picked over that the selection was mediocre, at best. Tonight, everything was good until I went to check out. Register 1 had two customers in a full blown convo with the cashier, and wasnt moving. I thought register 2 was open, only to be met with a rude, Im closed. Looking around, the only open register appears to be #1. So, I wait... and wait... after 5 minutes of not moving, a stock person walks past and I ask if they are short handed or something. She craned her neck around, and then had to walk almost to the other end of the registers to see if anything else was open. Register 6 was open, but due to all of the signage and racks and other things hanging all around, you cant see it unless you walk down that and are right on top of it.When I mentioned this to the cashier working #6, she just mumbled whatever under her breath. So, my complaint wasnt even taken seriously, nor passed up to management. As I was walking out, the same people were STILL engaged in animated convo at register 1, with nothing even bagged up.I looked for other employees, too try and find a manager, but only saw the 2 cashiers.Sadly disappointed, and guess Ill just go to Whole Foods from now on.
Today was my 4th visit to Kriegers! Though I live in the Fairlawn area where there are many places to purchase food, Kriegers has become my new favorite grocery store!! Skeptical to return after my visit today the Older white lady on register #6 (9/23/18 4:15pm) with the glasses and missing tooth Greeted the women before and after me. Not sure if it had anything to do with the other ladies being Caucasian and myself being African American (one would think so) but it didnt sit well. I was very polite & patient anyhow. Please dont discourage customers from spending money at such a great place for your own personal dislikes or thoughts! Every other staff that I came across was very polite and helpful except for this in particular woman. Ill avoid her at all cost if I decide to shop there again. Remember Customers always remember bad experiences over good ones this is a great place please act like it! 5 stars overall 1 star for that poor customer service.
Great prices with a great selection - The garden center was amazing and MUCH bigger then I thought, it just went on and on. The staff outside was so friendly and helpful - Shannon in particular helped me find an amazing gift even close to closing time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !
This is my favourite grocery store in Akron, bar none. Fresh produce, old fashioned deli, artisan baked goods, on site health food store, frozen bison and emu, a small fresh meat counter craft beer, wines and mead, and prices generally lower than the larger grocery stores. This place is a dream!
I am giving Kriegers the 5 because of what they offer in the lines of greens in the front of their store, plus the price they sell it for . Especiallyconsidering how close they are to Wal-Mart . The comparisons are close , even without any related sales and or coupons. I am not sure if Kriegers does (Retail Me Not) or (Honey) , two apps that save you money, but its worth looking into. Actually Kriergers red lettuce was cheaper, $1.48 , than Wal-Mats $1.78 . Plus I like the fact they carry Bolthouse Blends . I am a fan of the Tropical Carrot , and the 100% Carrot. I mix them. Carrots & apples that go straight into a juicer , yum. Plus the girls that work the front are fun and you can joke with with them . Real salt of the earth . I just wrote a review on First Watch, but I ran out of characters . So I will try and quickly finish here , seeing they are close together in reviews . The thought I wanted to finish was something my brother said to me . It was in regards to how stiff the competition is the closer you get when you nearer NY/NY and or Chicago. This is especially true when it comes to the food service sector. The farther away, the less the provider has to come up with more interesting foods and better pricing to attract and keep the customer . We here in Cuyahoga Falls seem to be stuck in the middle , thus the proprietors can make and charge according to the above mentioned. Yes, we do have Cleveland . When I moved to Ohio I went through Cleveland , and I quickly understood what all the jokes were about. That was then, and Cleveland has changed . I simply love The Flats . Jacobs Pavilion is the best, and the Q Rocks . So I am glad to see the whole Portage/Front Street connection here . Things will change . Buy Local .This summer , go to a farm and have plum right from the tree.Theres nothing like it when the conditions bloom . I will be going to Big Eues BBQ .Hopefully he has that back door kitchen appeal . Best wishes all .
Was treated very rudely at check-out by a heavy set guy directing customers at check-out. Apparently he was thinking we were cutting in line, when in fact we were continuing to shop. When we did t proceed to check-out, he made another rude comment. At age 69, Im a little beyond cutting into lines. !
Been going to Kreigers for at least 20 years ! I like to support local business, instead of greedy corporations, this in mind I called today to see if they had some essential oils in and to get there price as I was sending my mother out to purchase the products for me, and they informed me that they no longer give out the prices over the phone ,slick move Kriegers , getting people to come in to probably shop more/ buy more , in my opinion that a page taken from corporate greed , SO since ur playing that game , Ill take my business to Amazon and accept their corporate greed since its the same thing now , and Ill Kno the price , B4 purching , why would I support a local business that obviously just wants to profit instead of help , shame on u Kreigers
I visited this location today to purchase some fruit and veggies. I saw that they had a vitamin section so I went to see if I find a certain vitamin. The older gentlemen that works back there literally stood there watching me. Which by the way made me uncomfortable. I eventually left the store and went somewhere else to purchase my item.
Kind of a mixed bag. This building desperately needs torn down and a newer building needs built in its place. In the wintertime, employees are wearing winter coats because its so cold inside. And whenever I buy vitamins, the employee takes the item from me and carries it to the register, implying that Im going to steal it. Other stores dont do that, and its not encouraging.

2022-07-22What a cute fresh market to get your produce! Lots of options for local produce and really excited to see they carry a lot of Amish products as well! Many organic and natural items but definitely on the pricier side. A nice-sized garden area, as well. Will definitely be back!

2021-06-17Small than a chain store, Larger than most family owned grocery stores. Prices were on the higher side. A plus is that they have a Vegan section.

2022-01-13When I arrived at Kriegers, I did not expect to have an experience that would change my life.I walked through the large wooden door and my eyes instantly locked onto a man with flowing brown hair and the most stunning hazel eyes I have ever seen. The man looked my direction and I hoped he had not seen me staring. He started walking towards me and my face turned bright red. He walked right up to me, looked me up and down, head to toe, as if inspecting me, and then looked straight into my eyes and said hello, my name is Ryan, how may I be of service to you?I stumbled over my words. I was shocked a man like him would even notice me, let alone approach me with such vigor. I finally managed to get out a reply I was just looking for some beans and weenies. My eyes drifted off, I couldnt look right at him without my heart racing and my hands clamming up. I was wondering if-I was cut off mid sentence by a hand gently grabbing my chin and another pulling my head in close. His lips fluttered like A butterfly in a spring breeze, and his tongue danced across the stage of my mouth. Ryans level of passion is something I dont think another human will ever be able to give me, but I dont mind, I will never forget this moment in my life. I already plan to name my first child Ryan.

2021-09-06I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to cross dates out on food with black permanent marker which I didn’t see until I arrived home. I put a flashlight up to it and the date on the food is 9/2/21 and today’s date that I purchased this muffin is 9/6/21. Seems like this warrants a phone call to the health department. Good job Kriegers!

2022-04-22Big selection of produce. I gave them 3 stars a year ago but added one. Its the only place in its category in the immediate area and its pretty goodUPDATEIve been coming here now for 4 years. I REALLY LOVE THIS PLACE.Generally better quality produce and deli products and they are often less expensive than any of the grocery stores including Walmart. Ive begun telling everyone about this store

2022-02-21Been shopping here since 1977 (with mom as a baby). The best place to find minimally processed deli meats.

2021-11-02Great local health food store with a wide variety of Amish and organic produce at great prices. The store is compact and the staff are sometimes not courteous, but I like to support local businesses especially when their prices are affordable.

2021-03-23Love the organic kale and nice selection of goods you can’t find elsewhere. Ladies in the the back Pharmacy/skin care area are super nice and helpful. Cashiers and floor staff are not friendly. A little pricey but a cool place overall.
