Very outdated. Desk clerk was difficult and at times just rude at check in. She slammed the window in our face. Couldnt get it through her head we wanted both rooms together. She kept wanting to put one room at the back and one in the front. She was more worried about us having to walk down stairs to smoke than we were.
I don’t forgive myself not reading the reviews before getting this nasty place. This is 2am and I’m sleeping in the car because of the BEDBUGS.What simple requirement to start this business. People want to “sleep” that’s why they rent a room and bedbugs won’t let you sleep this place. There are number of others who commented about the bedbugs during years and seems no one really cares.
The check in person was not the friendliest and they gave us no information about breakfast. I read on here there is a continental breakfast but we did not know about it. The room smelled like an old building upon entering but was not bad. Clean room, comfortable bed, bring your own pillows the one here are hard as rocks. There is a small fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. Not bad for the price.
This place was one of the worst places that I have ever stayed. The reason I am saying this because the beds are on two by fours and ply board. The other thing is that there was no hot water and when I called the front desk I was told it was to late and they would try and deal with it in the morning. The second thing that I was told was that it was to late and no one needed to take a bath or shower. I would never recommend this hotel to on one and I will never stay there again.
This hotel was clean but had an old smell to it. I cant explain like vinegar or something. There are no smoking rooms available. Worst of all the beds are horrible, they are so hard it was like sleeping on a concrete slab. My company booked a 3 night stay and after the first night I woke up with my back and body feeling crippled. I asked to change rooms and she said all the beds are the same in all the rooms and wouldnt let my move. The only thing good about it was the housekeeper, he sprayed our room down to get the funky smell out and brought us extra coffee, sugar, and creamer.
Nice place!!! I have been coming to this town for many years and since past few years I have been staying with knights inn.. Very nice lady she owns the place with her son in law. Rooms are very clean and BF is good too more then 2 choices to pick from.... They have upgraded lot of things in room!!!! compare to when I use to come back in 2000-2007.. Few more upgrade in the room and it would be a prefect stay room. They for sure have very OLD shady phones and they need to replace the old window curtains for sure.. Only these 2 things were bothering me in the room. Rest everything was CLEAN very CLEAN. Better then days inn and home town inn. Worth staying for the price and cleaning ness.
I was looking for an inexpensive hotel and knew not everything would be the best and most luxurious. Our room was clean, the building is somewhat dated, but it was fine. Our rooms air conditioner did not keep us very cool, but that is probably easily fixed. To save money, I would stay here again.
Stayed there with a friend from Thursday night through Sunday morning. It was inexpensive. The beds were on the stiffer side, the bathroom had a broken knob (wont close all the way or lock), but it had a large 42 LED LCD TV with a basic cable package. There was also a 3 drawer dresser, mini-fridge, sink, and clean white towels. Would consider again for future stays.
This motel was relatively expensive for what it is. The blankets had strands of hair, which led me to believe the blankets were not changed. The front desk clerk who checked me in was courteous but not friendly. Checkout time is 11 am; however, I was rudely awakened at 10 am by the front desk calling the room, immediately followed by housekeeping loudly banging on the door to get me out of the room. All of this was after I had a long, sleepless night due to the uncomfortable bed. Athens offers several lodging options. I would only recommend this motel if you cannot book with other local lodging.
The lady at the front desk was very rude, we came back to the hotel from going out and she called the cops saying we were too loud, fighting, etc. there was barely heat, no hot water, and the wasted pressure was nothing. this is not a place to stay. I would have been better off staying in a car.
I needed a room at 11:30 p.m but couldnt get in so I had to Google the number & call from my car. The woman at the check in desk was rude. The toilet wouldnt flush! We had no towels in our room, so i couldnt shower during my stay. The mini fridge makes a loud buzzing noise. Couldnt return my key card properly or eat breakfast because I couldnt get in at 8am & I didnt have time to call the front desk, wait a half hour to be let in to check out & return the room key. And then I received a phone call from the hotel accusing me of stealing their towels & pillowcases. The pillow cases were on the pillows when I left the hotel & I didnt even have towels when I checked in thank you.... Pay the extra stay somewhere else!!!
Lady that checked us in was really rude and confrontational she wanted to argue with everyone of us. We had 16 people all together. Smelled disgusting bugs found in bedding, we ran to Walmart to buy cleaning supplies and bedding. Lysol cleaned the rooms top to bottom. We started 2 nights. Wasp nest in door handle got stung 5 times. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Would actually give zero stars but this app doesnt allow it. All the bad reviews are true not worth the money.
A pretty good place to stay. The towels were clean and fresh so was the bed. I went to turn my key in @9am and the office doors were locked so why have a key return?? Hopefully they dont charge for an extra day. Other than that- good cheep place to stay. Microwave and refrigerator works also.
The place is not the best. But with that being said. It was clean enough to st least sleep. The bathroom could have used a lot of work. The staff (or maybe the owner) that checked me in was nice. Didnt try the breakfast. If youre visiting OU and dont want to spend a lot of money ... stop here but dont expect a lot.
Took twenty minutes to confirm an online reservation. Filthy rooms, nasty front desk lady, all the patrons appear to be hunters. The coffee maker is inadequately cleaned and the fridge has mold along its seal. Booked two beds, got one. Choose another hotel, its not worth the low price point, this place needs new management.
I had an extended stay here and the AC unit was horribly loud, the breakfast offerings were so bad that I passed (as a grad student, I dont pass on free food without good reason!) and housekeeping would periodically decide that the do not disturb sign didnt apply. I appreciate the wanting me to have clean towels, but I would have asked for them when I needed them. Stay out of my room!
This place is better than the Highlander closer to town, but dont expect a 5-star hotel with a pool and gym. I liked my first stay enough to stay there again the following week and again the following year. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the heating unit heats the room well. I saw no bugs and slept nicely. It has free wi-fi and a free breakfast. Cons: Traffic can be loud. Some rooms have only two-prong outlets.
My wife and I stayed there in September 2012 on our way down to North Carolina. It had the things that meant the most to us, clean, fridge, microwave, wireless Internet and decent rate. They provide a nice continental breakfast as part of the package. We felt they were worth it enough to stay there on return route home later that week.
Worst hotel beds Ive ever slept in. They bow terribly in the middle and the feet come up higher than your head when you lay flat. Both beds were the same. And then if your partner moves at all you will bounce out of the bed and land on the floor. The room was clean but I paid to stay here because we needed to sleep. . . Which was impossible in these beds. 3 adults got no sleep at all. Very disappointed.
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week in August of 2016. I guess you get what you pay for in terms of the quality of the room. However, it is the woman behind the front desk that really upset me. I have never witnessed such poor customer service in my life. I booked my room 2 months in advanced. I also called the hotel 2 more times within those 2 months in between my arrival. Once, extending my stay and the other I changed the card I had on file. On the night me and my boyfriend were heading out I called to ask what check in time was and the same woman who always answers answered again and as soon as I asked the woman began to yell at me saying Oh yes you are the one! I was confused and she went on saying You call too much. why do you call so much? like are serious? I absolutely could not believe it. So when I checked in to the hotel the woman again shouted at me from her desk Oh yes you are the one! I was just like excuse me?! and she went on about how I called so much and what do I want calling so much like absolutely unbelievable! I personally have worked front desk at a hotel and I know guests can be a pain sometimes but this is just terrible! So yeah if youre gonna stay here do anything and everything you can to avoid speaking to this woman. Her voice is pretty distinct....
The water faucet in the sink was terrible...no one in rooms either side but yet was woke up by a loud tv..the ac worked good but on off on off...couldnt rest...if someone walks across the floor in anotj er room you can hear it like they was in your room...price was fair I guess
Everything was good except the internet, if you get put in a room further away from the main entrance, well then hopefully you don’t need the internet! I had to go to the front and stay outside just to get a connection. Might as well say their is no internet if that’s what has to happen for use of it.
The room was nice and clean and cozy air conditioner work great the rooms were a little older some of the outlets only had the two prong plugs and you cant plug anything into him cuz they would just fall back out but overall good experience have a nice little breakfast there
By far the worst extended experience Ive had. The knights has never been a choice of quality but this place deffinetly lowered the bar the staff treats guests like children the from desk lady WILL MOST LIKELY YELL AT YOU. MONEY HAS WENT MISSING. THE STAFF ENTER AND EXIT YOUR ROOM AT THEIR LEISURE. ESPECIALLY!!! WHEN YOU ARE NOT THERE!! WORST HOTEL EVER!! WHEN THEU CLEANED MY ROOM THE LITTERALLY TOUCHED EVERYTHING I OWN!
The room was clean bed bug free...but a little out dated... however the staff was very rude!!! Housekeeping was rude an only knocked once an came in...when we complained we were told that if we had one more complaint we could take our money an go elsewhere.... Over all OK motel for the price but the staff made this motel hard to recommend...!!!!
Old hotel that was renovated and updated several years ago. But not a good bet for vacation. But great for if your an out of town contractor working in the area for a few weeks.Arbys is nextdoor and they have a movie theater across the street. Along with a steak restaurant and family restraunt. This is one of the cheaper hotels in the town and the few that cost less have their own issues such as bugs and drug activity at times. But not here. Most of the time it is people who have jobs and working long hours so it is pretty easy to sleep without getting woken up in the middle of the night. It is very close to a busy road and not the best for small kids.Truckers also tend to stay here as well and are common to see. There is also a Krogers, Lowes, Walmart and restraunts within a short walk and within a mile of the hotel. Its definitely not a 5 star resort but gets the job done if your just sleeping here and working during the day.
Clean, comfortable, safe. As a solo female traveler, I stay at the Knights Inn Athens regularly (4 -5 times per year for the last 9 years). My experience has always been that it is a safe, quiet, clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. For a value hotel, it is one of my favorites.

2022-06-05Im usually happy with the rooms- however they put us in a room without a refrigerator so I requested an ice bucket, and they tell me they dont have any?! I rented this for the purpose of going to pool a mile away and I cant refrigerate the drinks we were taking?!

2022-03-29Toilet was broken. Room very dated and in need of major upgrades. Kind of smelly also. Moved us to a second room, the heater was not working. Spend a little more money down the street for a MUCH better hotel!

2022-04-19If your heat doesnt work in your room, Unplug it for 10 seconds, plug back in and hit the power button right after you plug it back in. I only stayed here because it was Moms weekend and there was no other place to stay.

2022-02-05I called 1 time to get a price for my daughter, son-in-law & 2 young grandchildren since they had no power at their home. What I got when the lady answered the phone after she asked for how many & I told her - she literally began yelling at me telling me I called 4 Xs & gave you the price & then she hung up on me. First of all, I never knew there was a Knights Inn here in Athens (Ive been here my whole life) & 2nd I dont know who she thought she was talking to bc I never called 4 Xs. I will never recommend anyone to stay there with that kinda customer service. Id rather pay more with service that keeps the customer in mind. I was literally baffled - never had I ever had something like this happen before - 1 time not 4 I call & get ripped - WOW!!!!! .

2021-09-18If you have chemical or scent sensitivity,Do NOT stay here. While the office smells of mildew, the outdated rooms are treated with something that smells as if someone spilled an entire bottle of the cheapest mens musk cologne right inside the door. We had to open the window and leave the door open to try to air the place out. After one night of sleeping on the horrible beds (one as soft as pudding and the other hard and lumpy) we decided to cut our stay short and left. Not worth the $70 a night we were charged.
