Please do not stay in this hotel.. It is a 4.5 star hotel with 1 star service. The building is old. When we first entered the room, the restroom was dirty. The staffs did clean the room, however, we found that the flush is not working properly. Again the staff made it work temporarily, and we, somehow, managed it. The room is full of noise from outside and we had been troubled while sleeping. Further, the thermostat was not working properly, we set the room temp. at 65 (somehow, that was the lowest we could make), however, it seems that it was heating while the outside temp. was around 80.. we had to switch off and on the thermostat repeatedly.. it is the only hotel, I have ever seen with no coffee machine inside the room..The only good part was the staffs.. they were excellent..
I enjoyed my stay here. Nice rooms offering ample space & large bathroom. Stay was friendly and accommodating. Best part was I could bring my furry dogs. I will stay here again. I think the only negative were linens were lacking. i found a few holes in towels and sheets. They also did not smell really clean but I find that at most hotels. The smell of fresh linens is wonderful but these smelled like they have been sitting in a closet for months after being cleaned. I think their laundry service company could do better ;)
The Front desk didnt inform us that by booking via Booking.com youre temporarily charged for the whole stay plus an additional $100/night despite the fact that we prepaid. They refunded a night of parking - $40. It felt like youre being punished for using a third party site. Which if they dont like using 3rd party sites, dont contact with them.Better to park at one of the cheaper lots around the corner for $9.Unnecessary nickel and diming for a 4 star hotel. Charging $15/day for WiFi and $30 for a movie (without disclosing price beforehand). Only one robe in a room.It was a cute space. It was not worth the money.
They have nothing here. I went to get a massage but they company that they work with is not on site so you could never get a massage you have to call ahead of time and put in the work on it so that they can mobile come to us where they need to put that on they site. Then I went to the restaurant thats attached to the hotel when the manager of the restaurants came to my table and asked me why I didnt leave a tip? You only get a tip when your customers are satisfied with what they got and I wasnt happy with the food. I know that I wouldnt come back here again. Sorry but not sorry
This was an amazing stay with them. Even though the room we were initially given was not cleaned the staff quickly worked to make it right and we were in a new room within minutes. I can not rave enough about how great the experience was they were fantastic and the hotel was very nice. I would highly recommend staying here.
Positive: The lobby is nice and smells good but the area is a little rough and extremely loud. This is not a place for rest or relaxation. Negative: Bed was broken so we just rolled to the middle. Small room. Stayed on a weekday night but the outside noise was SO intensely loud until the early morning. Then again starting 6am. Between that and the bed, it was hard to sleep. Staff were aloof.
When we arrived the people at the desk seemed bothered we were attempting to check in. Once to the room we discovered huge holes in the sheets and pillowcases. Asked for new ones and they didnβt have any so we had to change rooms. The new room smelled strongly of wet dog. Front desk was no help and was unfriendly.
The staff was awesome from valet to the front desk. I love that it was pet friendly. They even made a personalized tag for my hotel door with my dogs name on it. The hotel smelled clean and the rooms were nice. The only complaint which was very unacceptable is our sheets and comforter had brown hard stains on them. Very gross the staff did bring more bedding however the staff who cleaned the room should have never left or used soiled bedding! Very unsanitary.
Positive: The staff were so nice and I felt taken care of. We spent Christmas night there and it was a wonderful time. The room catered to our needs and we had a very comfortable stay. Best hotel IΓΒΏve stayed at in a long time. Negative: Only thing I didnΓΒΏt like was there was no parking but itΓΒΏs a hotel in a city so that is to be expected. The valet service made up for it for sure and I knew my car was safe.
My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel and we had a great time. The place was charming and we liked our room. We had a fun night at the restaurant attached to the hotel. Great food, drinks, bartender and music. We were in town to meet with my husbands heart surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, so we werent in town under the best circumstances. Regardless, we had a great stay due to the wonderful staff at the hotel and the restaurant.
Positive: The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was modern and fun, without feeling pretentious. The rooms were cheery and we had a great view of downtown. The valet, the awesome lobby and the hotel restaurant were all perfect. Negative: We had a few flickering light bulbs in our room, but that was not a big deal at all.
Positive: Staff, location, lobby, pet friendly, really nice hotel. Negative: One complaint is sound proofing is horrible. Often, hotels have better quality sound proofing w/ their windows. It didnt help that we were on the 2nd floor, next to the alley where there were the dumpsters, and it was garbage day. All of this before 7am.
I took my 11 year old son here for a Cavs Celtics weekend and had a memorable experience. The hotel is top notch and convenient to everything. But of course itβs the people who make it world class customer experience. We were greeted everywhere by smiling helpful staff. I especially want to shout out the front management and Katie - she went out of her all weekend to stop during her busy duties to visit with us in the lobby and restaurant. My son is into magic tricks and thrives on an audienceβ¦ Katie was a willing and patient one! Thanks to all π
To begin with its a beautiful old building with restoration to the original structure rather than ripping down old to put in new. We got the single room with a city view and a very comfy king bed, all our requests were met with care, including a room away from the elevator and plush foam pillows. Unlike other places Ive stayed I noticed we werent able to hear other guests like you would at another hotel with paper thin walls, something that always affects my sleep because I have good hearing. Decent sized TV, a huge shower (wish it was a bathtub, but those are available for the suites,) everything was neat and clean. All members of staff we interacted with from valet, front desk, maintenance, room service, etc were incredibly friendly and kind; especially the gentlemen working the valet was kind enough to grab something out of our car we left behind and we were pleased to see that our vehicle wasnt rifled through when we came back (something we were nervous about after reading another persons review.)Food and drinks at Betts were AMAZING by the way, if you are staying here please grab a bite at Betts you will not be disappointed. If I had to give a crumb of criticism about the place, I would say that the valet parking area was very small and difficult to see everything when pulling out as its a busy street and a large van was parked behind us obstructing our view of traffic. Next time Im staying in Cleveland you can bet I will be back. π€
Positive: The location is perfect with walk ability to food, entertainment and major highways. The staff was nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. There was an error with my charges that they immediately corrected once I pointed it out to them. Negative: More attention to cleaning details. There were cobwebs by the dresser, no hangers or robes in the first room we stayed in. The rooms also lacked a minibar or refrigerator to store cold drinks.
Positive: The bathroom was clean. How does a person who cleans the room and makes the bed miss that their are blood stains on the sheets all over the middle of the bed. Totally unacceptable! I will never go back .They probably never changed the sheets! Gross! Negative: Yes the fact that we had sheets that were stained with blood on them this wasnt a motel supposed to be a decent hotel that wasnt cheap for one night. Also the beds are NOT comfortable and pillows left my neck hurting. Save your money and go to a Marriott.
Stayed there one night the week of thanksgiving. First room had holes and red stains on the sheets, asked for a change of room and they put me in a worse handicap room versus upgrading me for my inconvenience. That also had holes in the sheets but no stains so I took the loss instead of moving yet again. I booked the reservation through hotwire fully paid yet after my stay hotel charge me full price. I called and they credited back. Now weeks later I just got another full recharge on my credit card. Called customer service line and it just says call back later. Stay away from this hotel. If customer service would like to credit me and help me please call me and I will consider changing review. Shame on you.
We arrived at 8pm to our room not ready even though check in was at 4pm. They came and grabbed us at 8:50ish with our room ready and they did comp our vallet and drinks. Overall the hotel was beautiful but definitely was put off with our room not being ready until almost 5 hours after check in.
Really nice hotel and beautiful outside and in. Room had a fantastic layout and good size, plenty of room to move around. Staff though were top notch, especially Tamara and Keith at front desk. Very accommodating to guest needs, and friendly. Felt very welcomed. Will definitely be returning!
Out of all the hotels I have stayed this will be the review I have given. The staff is by far the best hands down. The accommodate to everything you may need and are very helpful. The in hotel restaurant Betts is exceptional and so is their staff! They are very pet friendly. I have never experienced that ever.I will literally never stay any where in Cleveland other than here. If you are booking a vacation and looking at reviews, do not doubt it. This is the place to stay!!
A total scam! Stay away!!!We booked a room through hotel tonight as our flight got rerouted to Cleveland last minute, through hotel tonight we paid for the totality of our room, fees and taxes. Upon arrival we were placed in a room that looked barely cleaned, had a half used toilet paper roll, no deadbolt on the door (which made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe). The overall experience was more than disappointing but nothing prepared us for the surprise we would face when checking our bank account later on⦠to our surprise we saw that this scam of a hotel took the liberty to charge us for the full cost of our room and an additional mystery $70. There was absolutely no reason for these two charges, the room was already paid off through hotel tonight, we did not use any services in the hotel (room service, minibar - if there even was one who knows at this point). Upon realizing this we call the hotel which was very evasive on why we were charged these amounts and told us we would get a refund in 5 to 9 business days. We are now three weeks later and still have not seen a refund. We called the hotel again asking for the charge to be removed/refunded to which we were told that we should talk to their accounting department instead of offering no help, explanation or solution.Stay away from this hotel!
Booked this Kimpton due to it being a Kimpton and the closeness to the various sights in downtown Cleveland. While a modern hotel and having helpful staff, the stay was not worth the cost.I was greeted professionally on check-in and did not have any issues with the valet parking of the car. Valet staff were very good and desk staff was helpful. I did notice that the living room area was right off of the front door. Due to the number of people from the hotel, the apartments above, and the restaurant coming in and out, this area was fairly chilly, loud, and not very inviting. Our room was on the fourth flor and was very happy that we could take either the stairs or the elevator. We like to take the stairs more often than not so this was nice. Stairwells were well lit and maintained the older feel of the building (might have even been the original staircase). The big letdown was the Room, 1 King Bed, City View, Corner. The room (404) was oddly shaped, did not have a comfortable chair as pictured in the room pictures, and the city view was of a building about 20 feet away (see photos). Since we were only staying for one evening I did not complain, but I cannot see paying a premium for this room.Another item of note is the amount of street noise. We were in room 404 and the garbage trucks were doing their work about 6:00a on a Friday. We could hear every groan of metal and clang of the bins. Street noise was an issue the night before until about midnight when things seemed to settle down.Unfortunately this is a great location, but the quality of the room did not live up to the Kimpton standards. I will be staying elsewhere when I stay in downtown Cleveland again.
Very nice hotel. I think the bathroom was almost as large as the bedroom! Fantastic shower even though the floor outside of the shower will get drenched no matter how careful one may be. That cannot be placed on managements head however as that is just a design flaw in the building process. The valet was really quick with retrieval of our car. The bed was really comfortable as well. Our rooms view was of the alley but the upside of that was no street noise. So it was a quiet and restful night. We would definitely return should we be in the area again.
The PROS: Its beautiful, our room was clean and it is very nicely located. It is across the street from a grocery store and not far from restaurants. We were celebrating a birthday and they left a bottle of wine in our room. Nice touch! Additionally, the gentlemen at the valet were OUTSTANDING. You just text about 5-10 minutes before you want your car ready and they have it there for you. It was awesome! The beds were comfortable and I loved the decor. I also loved that they are dog-friendly. (which also leads to the negatives)The CONS: This hotel is listed as dog-friendly, and what that really means is that dogs can stay there. However, I wouldnt call it dog-friendly. There is NOWHERE for dogs to relieve themselves. We have a senior dog, and when I asked Patrick, at the front desk where dogs could go to relieve themselves, he rolled his eyes and said theres some bushes around back - the bushes around back are landscaping for a parking lot, that is clearly marked keep your dog off this landscaping there was glass everywhere. The nearest park was 10 minutes away. Anyone with a senior dog knows that sometimes 3 am potty breaks happen. So, you have to get up, and walk your dog 10 minutes away. Also, Kimpton claims there are no fees for dogs, but when we checked in, a two-night refundable deposit was placed on my card. This wasnt listed anywhere, I poured over my reservation and the hotel page. In interest of full-disclosure, nothing extra was charged, but it was alarming. (Im not sure if this is because we had a dog, or just a general practice) So, in my opinion, NOT dog-friendly. Also, we had a city view, which was nice, but the city is LOUD. Which is not necessarily a fault of the hotel, but just something to note, in case you are a light sleeper. There was ONE garbage can, and not one located in the bathroom. Finally, the shower is very poorly designed. There is a glass wall that covered half of the shower, there was water ALL over the floor. I know they are going for a high-end look, but this is a bad design.Overall, I would probably return to the hotel, as I loved the location and the valet service. However, I would NOT bring my dog again, because it is NOT dog-friendly without an area for them to go to the bathroom.
Positive: It was very quiet and peaceful. Once in my room I couldnt hear anything but the outside noise which is to be expected Negative: There was a little mold in my shower/tub which I can understand due to shortness of staff and or complications from COVID but that is where the eye for detail comes in. Also 2 of the gentleman staff in the restaurant downstairs were rude.
I was not impressed. The pictures of the rooms do not capture how small and worn the rooms were. The bathroom was tiny and there was only 1/2 of a shower door, so everything in the bathroom was soaked. The food at the restaurant was fine, but almost over complicated. Who needs CBD infused Mayo and keto ranch dressing. Save your self some money and stay at a Hyatt Place. Not worth the money.
Valet stole my credit cards from my truck along with the change that I had in the door. Evidently tipping $5 when I dropped the car and another $5 when I picked it up along with the $36 fee wasnβt enough. They had to steal from my car as well.. Thief bought a few items at cvs per my bank. Yes I did contact the hotel with the info. They wanted to talk it over and call back I guess but failed to do that. I donβt think Iβll be back to this hotel. Iβll be contacting IHG directly.
What a great hotelβstart to finish. We stayed on our way relocating Boston to Indiana and wanted a fun hotel that was dog friendly. We found it in the Kimpton Schofield. Super dog friendly without charging for the dog!!!! Check in was welcoming. The room was new. Sheets/bedding were super comfy. They have a list of items you can borrow-Keurig, flat iron, etc, which is very thoughtful. The only thing I didnβt think about was how my dog would do without having grass to use the bathroom. They told me there was a strip of mulched landscaping around the corner, which worked fine. He actually slept as well as we did through the night, which is saying something! We will definitely be back for a long weekend. Highly recommend this hotel. Canβt wait to visit when a ball game is going on!!
Nor gonna lie, I had high hopes for this hotel. We had stayed at a Kimpton in Los Angeles and it was amazing. The one here was not. As a spire member the free bottle of wine was awesome (2 stars), but the rest of the room was extremely underwhelming. The air conditioning didnt kick in until we were home so we had to sit in a 76 degree room for a long time....I understand that it saves energy, but even keeping it around the hallway temperature would be acceptable....not impressed at all I would have rather paid the same to stay at the Drury or Marriott
My experience here was pretty good. The concierge, Janna, was incredibly sweet and helpful. I forgot my toothbrush and she gave us several. The Schofield are apartments and residents would bring their dogs through the lobby and elevators. We got a free glass of wine and some insight about Cleveland during a happy hour. Breakfast at trendy Bettieβs was good, with great fresh juice and healthy menu options. A few minor issues also greeted us in the room. The fridge was off, the wall paper was peeling which tarnished the room some. The A/C had trouble cooling the room, which caused some sleeping issues. But the location was top notch. Overall itβs a worthy hotel, despite a few more discomforts than Iβm accustomed to at Kimpton.
Husband and I stayed here for or anniversary.Likes: bed, decor, tv, front staff and was given champagne and a special note.Dislikes: room wasnt ready when we arrived, car looked as if someone had looked through our things, no silverware brought up with our room service, was only given decaf coffee with our keurig and the street was very noisy all night.
To be honest, this 4-5 star hotel does not meet my expectation: tiny front desk and street side reception; the guest room is clean but really small (not lives with the star rating); I checked in online, but still they could not find my room key; booked for 3 adults, but the room has only 1 bed, without sofa bed! The half-door shower design is the worst: cannot reach the switch without getting wet and the water would splash all over the floor! The staff is very friendly and we changed to a room with 2 beds. Thanks. Definitely has the downtown vibe and night life.
We absolutely love the Kimpton hotels, and this is no exception! Beautiful hotel, amazingly friendly and helpful staff. This time we even had an issue with the air conditioner in our room, but the maintenance manager Danny was absolutely incredible! He checked in with us and monitored our system to verify the problem was fixed. Upon returning to our room it was still a bit warm and Danny came right up to fix the issue. He even had stayed past his shift to wait for us to return to our room so he could do so. Above and beyond! The front desk even gave us water bottles on our way out because they knew we were heading out on a long car ride home and were amazing, friendly and caring to our comfort during and after our stay. We cannot recommend Kimptonβs brand highly enough to anyone, especially if you have pets. Their policy is amazing and the staff even loves our fur babies during our stays!
Positive: Location, cat friendly, cheap parking nearby, solid restaurant, reuse of old building, great beds, nice decor, great staff - very friendly! Negative: The shower setup was awkward - the water sprayed right out of the stall. I feel like it is going to seep into the walls and floors.
Another wonderful stay at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel! The staff is so welcoming and friendly - perfect location downtown and guestrooms are impeccable! Shout out to Haley for the BEST amenity, it was wonderful to arrive in the room only to find my favorite drink! Thank you for another amazing Kimpton stay!
Love this hotel is pet friendly arrived in room and found welcome bag for our fur baby. Organic restaurant in hotel very thrilled about that. Staff exceptional in service from the janitor to valet and desk. Room nice and clean. Quite atmosphere to rest. Very happy highly recommended.
It is a great boutique hotel located in the heart of Cleveland OH. It is walking distance from water and a lot of great restaurants. Staff is delightful and exceeds the expectations. Staff was not only nice to us also very friendly to our dog. He loved his goody bag and his bed which came with the room. I also strongly suggest Betts restaurant, American dishes with modern twists. I strongly recommend this hotel.
Iβm ready to go back and itβs been a hot minute since I left. The customer service was everything that you want it to be, warm, friendly and treated like a VIP. I absolutely loved everyone that we were in contact with. Jack at the Valet was a welcoming start to the trip! Vincent at the front desk was an absolute delight! The hotel was a fresh, funky and modern feel without feeling cramped for style or comfort. When you walk in, you are greeted by a wonderful scent and you just know that this is going to go just the way you hoped. Our room was so much fun! Loved the shower and the two separate sinks! Also, the fun light box added just the right amount of spunk! The products are also delightful and smell amazing! We also used the complimentary bicycles to go around downtown and see it from a different point of view. If you have a moment take advance of that and I hope that you smile as big as I had!If you get a chance to go to this wonderful hotel, go! This hotel has everything you need to unplug and recharge!
Positive: Location in center city was good. Negative: Rooms had horrible views of alleys with dumpsters and other old nearby buildings. Asked for a room with a better view and got one that had the view of a roof just out the window with rusted galvanized ductwork and a old brick building 4 feet away.
Best hotel we stayed in that allows dogs. We brought our Saint Bernard. Heβs not much of a city dog but seemed to tolerate the hotel well. Not much grassy areas for pets to do their business. The hotel was clean, staff was helpful. Overall, excellent stay. Highly recommend for dog owners who have extra large sized breed dogs.
We selected this hotel for my husbandβs birthday. Part of my selection was due to the good reviews. Iβm sad to report our stay wasnβt as pleasant. The restaurant was slow. First we were ignored when we arrived and next our food took 60 mins to come out as we watched others who arrived after us receive service and their orders. Next the front desk person was rude and not helpful. When we had questions he gave us snarky responses. We dealt with micro aggressions all weekend. You would think service would be stellar during a pandemic since people have not been traveling. Wonβt be back.
My daughter, her husband, baby and I stayed in the Presidential Suite five nights. I dont know how much she paid per night but its probably a $1,000/night or more. The suite is 3,000 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2.5 baths. You would think something as large and costly as this suite would be luxurious filled with basic amenities. It didnt. The coffee area had little sugar and only a few creamers. The Keurig coffee circular container contained only decaf coffee and it was only 30% filled. There was no honey either and many people use honey in their coffee. At LEAST stock it with sugar! The kitchen is very large with two dishwashers. Great but there were no paper towels or even kitchen towels of any kind. There were no napkins of any kind either. I picked a coffee cup out of the cabinet and it was filthy! It was sparsely stocked with eating utensils as well. Whomever is tasked with stocking and cleaning this PRESIDENTIAL SUITE is failing miserably. Which further concerns me regarding the Covid 19 and the Delta Variant because if the clean cups in the cabinet are filthy, what else have they done that is shoddy?I truly hope I dont come down with Covid after spending five nights here.Im normally very verbose in a positive way with my reviews. I point out even the most miniscule positive aspect. I will state that the valet staff and the room service staff are all wonderful and helpful. The valets go way out of their way to accommodate their guests.Ive stayed in this hotel before Covid. Has Kimpton Scofield cut so many corners and used Covid as an excuse for shabby service? I dont know but what I do know is that Ill never stay in this hotel again, Presidential Suite or not.
Stayed here Halloween weekend 2020. What a treat! Customer service is the name of the game at this establishment. From needing a coffee maker at 3am to extra towels upon request, every need was met. My room was a bit small but swanky and clean. Great views of the downtown area from some rooms.
Beautiful hotel, great location, and wonderfully friendly concierge service and staff. The room was also spacious and lovely with a big modern bathroom and great views of downtown. The bars across the street had a fun atmosphere, great food and a cool craft beer selection. I will definitely stay there again when next I visit.
This is a Kimpton hotel in Cleveland. It is an amazing hotel. The rooms are sleek and large and well appointed. But the real deal here is the staff. They, like many other Kimptons, have incredible staff and the staff makes the difference. It makes you feel like youre home even when youre on the road. Would absolutely stay here again.
This is a great boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Cleveland. Its situated right across from Heinens food market, which is itself a cool destination, and the vibe of the hotel is hip and semi-posh. I love their evening wine and morning juices which are complimentary, and I also love the whole style of the lobby, with an open fireplace. We got upgraded to a bigger city view room, and there were chocolates and water left in our room as I had indicated that it was an early Valentines trip for my wife. These are simple, but nice touches. I also love that the hotel is able to provide us with lipbalms when we forgot ours (lipbalms are a MUST in the wintertime of Cleveland lemme tell you!).The room was nice and spacious, the bathroom was super big and the water pressure is absolutely fab. I am picky about mattresses and I was impressed by the mattress here. I had a sound sleep every day I was here. Overall, I would highly recommend the place, and the price is very reasonable too!Valet parking was stupidly expensive but the hotel staff were more than happy to offer an alternate, slightly cheaper, solution in a car park nearby which I appreciate
Room and hotel were great! Always a unique stay at a Kimpton with very cool, eclectic artwork everywhere, friendly/hip staff eager to recommend local spots, and complimentary wine hour between 5-6 is a bonus! The shower was amazing. Very clean, very comfortable beds. Location was great and close by to nightlife and our venue that we were in town for. Im always thrilled with my stays at Kimpton!
The hotel itself is amazing! Its very clean and modern. Super nice! The problem was the spa. We booked an in room couples message a week before we stayed and they NEVER SHOWED. The front desk tried calling multiple times and nobody answered the phone. So unprofessional. We waited in our room for over an hour and nobody came. So disappointed. Thats not how you run a business. The staff here is AMAZING! They were so friendly and tried everything they could to resolve the problem, which wasnt theirs to fix. It has a wonderful location. Walking distance to everything. If it wasnt for their spa this hotel would easily be a 5/5!!!!
The hotel is beautiful for a hotel snack dab in the middle of Cleveland. If your unlucky enough to have a inner facing room, then the view is not great. The restuarant Bettes was rather bland, the service was ok but have to wait nearly a hour for a med rare steak to be retired was less than thrilling. The drinks were strong but kind of pricey for the amount you get.
Definitely didnβt have a good experience with this hotel. It was cold the whole entire night! Keep it mind itβs winter, below 30 degrees outside!! I called the front desk to see if they can send someone up to fix the heat and the only thing he said was cut the system off for 10min then turn it back on, mind you We had already been in the room for 2hours which we turned the heat on 82 degrees once we walked into the room! Unfortunately the room temperature stayed at 58 degrees the whole night and even when we woke up! A damn shame
So happy we found this hotel. Its in a great location- close to Progressive Field, the Q and a short walk from the Browns Stadium. The staff was extremely nice, professional and very accommodating. The hotel and the room was clean and the restaurant inside was cozy with great food! We will be back!
Visiting Cleveland for the first time? Stay at the Schofield! Youll be in the heart of the Renaissance of this great American City. Be certain to walk across the street to experience the most beautiful grocery store on Earth!Make early reservations at The Marble Room for the most romantic dinner youre going to have anywhere! Its a little pricey, yet worth every penny!(Insider tip ask for table 50 . . . youre going to thank me later)
Hotel- Kimpton Schofield Hotel (Cleveland, Ohio)Date- 19oct2020 β 21oct2020 (2 nights)Overall: 5/5. Excellent. This is my preferred hotel in Cleveland, for stylish rooms and stellar customer service!Rewards Club Recognition- 5/5. Excellent. When we checked in, we were thanked for our loyalty. We were given welcome amenity points, and our room was upgraded. An amenity was also left in our room, a $10 Raid-the-Bar credit was given (for the bodega or restaurant), and we were offered a late checkout.Staff- 5/5. Excellent. My spouse and I were blown away by the customer service on this visit. Tamara at the reception was wonderful; she recognized us from prior stays immediately upon arrival and efficiently checked us in, effectively keeping us up to date on the changes to the property as the pandemic continues. Vincent was engaging and informative; what a pleasure it always is to interact with him and the other staff members!Property Appearance & Maintenance- 5/5. Excellent. No outstanding maintenance issues were evident.Exterior- 5/5. Excellent. The historic Schofield building is well maintained and clean. The window seals could be improved, for both sound and air leakage reduction, but in a historic building, this can be a substantial undertaking.Interior- 5/5. Excellent. The lobby was clean and effectively organized. Even though it was raining when we arrived, the floors were dry and immaculately kept. The lobby is off to the side, making it somewhat hidden from the entrance. The hallway corridor carpets and walls are in good shape; few, if any, stains could be found, and the walls did not have any scuffs evident. Hallway lighting was functional. The furniture, both in and out of the room, was good repair.Accommodations- 5/5. Excellent. The Presidential Suite is spacious and charming. A kitchen area with a sink, minifridge, and a dining room table separates the living room area and the main bedroom. The living room has a fold out sofa bed, which makes the room perfect for families with children or even groups of 3 or 4. The bedroom can be closed off from the remainder of the suite, should parents (or others) want privacy. A handicapped accessible bathroom with a shower is off the living room; a larger bathroom with both tub and shower is off the bedroom. An umbrella and iron/ironing board were both present in the room. The acoustic guitar hanging in the living room is a nice touch, for a city with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The corner room view is noteworthy, facing both down Euclid Ave to Playhouse Square and in the opposite direction & down 9th to Lake Erie.Housekeeping- 5/5. Excellent. The bathrooms were sparkling clean, as were the floors and tabletops. The toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper, facial tissues, towels, etc.) were provided in a supply adequate for the length of our stay. I was comfortable that the room was safe for a stay during the pandemic.Pool/Gym- not evaluated.Breakfast/Meal Options- 5/5. Excellent. Social or wine hour is from 5p until 6p, and coffee is served in the morning from the front desk. In addition to the βbodegaβ at the reception, which contained the usual minibar items, the restaurant Betts was available and served a versatile menu of salads, bowls, beef, chicken, & salmon entrees. The βsingle table greenhousesβ outside add an urban and intimate, yet COVID-19 compliant, dining option. A grocery store is also available across the street from the hotel.Laundry- not evaluated. A laundry bag and pricing sheet were in the closet; pricing was reasonable for a hotel of this class.Computer/Printer/WiFi- 5/5. The WiFi was strong throughout the hotel, and streaming was mostly smooth. No computer or printer was available, but the front desk can accommodate any printing or office needs.
Stayed 1 night on 3rd of December. Room was missing sleepers. Called reception and was told that they will bring them to me. 1 hour later, nothing. Called again. Same guy on reception said he was going to bring them himself. 1 hour later, still nothing. Called again. Sorry we ran out of sleepers. The room was really dusty, looked like nobody cleaned dust for a week, because it was on the top of tv, phone everywhere where I moved my finger. We would leave the hotel if only it was not 11 p.m. Next morning during checkout complained at reception and was assured that their general manager will contact me by email. Nobody contacted. Good that we had camera on so that we can prove our words or make good video review of 0 care by Kimpton staff.
What an amazing find!!! We had previously fallen in love with Kimpton Properties in San Francisco and Chicago, but we had fallen for the Hilton Honors draw recently. And then we rediscovered the charm of Kimpton. This hotel and its location set a new, much higher bar!The location is perfect (near sporting, theatrical, and entertainment venues), the staff was incredible from the valets to the registration desk to the happy hour staff, and the room exceeded ALL expectations. And to be a dog-friendly hotel was an added special.Keith Siebenaler was the manager who greeted us at the happy hour and he was incredible. We had great conversations with many of the other guests and were made to feel like a very valued customer -- not an experience we have in many other lodging establishments. This was one of the best hotel experiences that we have ever had and we travel a great deal. Thank you to the entire staff of this hotel which is made more incredible as a result of your attitude and contributions! Oh, by the way, our room was incredible, the bed was the best bed weve ever slept in, the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are fantastic, and the bathroom was stunning.
It was a really great experience! First time here and wasnβt disappointed - especially for the price ($130). The hotel has an apartment vibe in the hallways, but was everything you need it to be. Shower was exceptionally good. Service was great. Lobby was cozy and included a fire and seating area. Valet is expensive but thereβs a lot right behind within minutes walking distant that $14 overnight instead.Update: came back the very next weekend and realized I undersold the shower. Itβs amazing. Best pressure and products.
Comfy beds, aromatic shower products, yoga mats in rooms, free coffee and wine, and this time, little bottles of immunity tonic with orange, turmeric and cayenne. Nice! The showers are partially enclosed by glass walls, which makes me feel too exposed. Very friendly staff. We were there for a business meeting and my boss had to wait 30 minutes for the valet to return his car around 9 pm. They are usually quicker.
After we checked in we went up to our room and did an inspection of the bed and room. We can across a few unpleasant surprises. We phoned the front desk and they were quick to get us moved in a new room. The front desk staff were very understanding And hospitable. The bed was a bit more soft than we like it. Our stay was overall pleasant.
The hotel is in downtown and within walking distance to many fast food places. The room was amazing as was the shower. It was neat that the bottom 4 floors are hotel and the upper floors are apartments. The service was good for how busy they seemed to be. Forgotten items were requested from the desk and arrived to the room very quickly. I would definitely stay here again.
We were very disappointed. This hotel was billed as a 4.5 star hotel, and Iβm not sure why. My boyfriend and I booked a king bed and asked for a room with lots of natural light. And although the hotel seemed largely empty, the staff did not accommodate us and our room faced the alley, had a view of a brick wall and a noisy generator right outside the window. The bathroom shower did not have a door and everything got wet. The room was adequately sized but the decor was bleak at best with some kitschy art thrown on the walls. Not the hip, modern and chic hotel I was lead to believe the Kimpton brand to be.
This place pretends to be something it isnt. Its the hotel equivalent to an 88 caprice with chrome rims on it. The rooms are smaller than any other hotel Ive ever been in. I couldnt fit the luggage cart in my room. The bathroom was updated, but did not have a shower door. The rest of the room was from the 70s. The staff never cleaned our room. The door to the mini fridge cabinet was broke, and the tv was a small piece of garbage. No coffee maker in the room, but they claim they are a 4.5 star hotel. GTFO. Then they have the nerve to charge $40 for parking.
Weekend getaway was not what we expected π this hotel was promoted on the Expedia website, and had 4.6 βοΈ reviews. THOSE WERE DEFINITELY PAID FOR! The pictures from the hotel mustβve been taken 20 years ago because the room looks nothing like the photos. And for the price?! I couldβve spend $20 more and stayed at the Metro across the street or saved money and stayed at the Hyatt or Hilton! When we walked into the room it literally felt like walking into the room of a serial killer in a film straight from the 80s. It was so tiny, old carpet, old furniture, lighting was terrible, could barely move around it was so small. Poorly made bed with the cheapest sheets you could find and no comforter with 2 of the lousiest pillows I wouldnβt even give my dog to sleep on. The best feature was the bathroom, except if youβre staying in there with your husband, youβll have to leave the room for hours if he blows it up because there is NO FANβ Donβt forget about the amazing corner room suite views we paid for.. of dilapidated brick walls 6β away. No cell service due to being surrounded by so much brick so youβll have to buy the WiFi access for $15. Wait there is more! If youβre worried about getting Covid make sure you bring your own bath products because no single use amenities here! They refill giant pump bottles, real classy guys. So all in all, I recommend this hotel if youβre looking to film an 80s horror film or want to kill your wife with toxic fumes from a spicy Mexican dinner.
Best hotel Iβve stayed at! Staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Super hip atmosphere! Had a cold beer in my hand the minute we walked in! Rooms are very nice and comfortable. Ryan at the front is awesome! If your coming to Cleveland stay here. Location is perfect
Picked this hotel because it was the highest rated one in the area and it was in a great location. Ive been to many hotels but so far this is the best. I arrived early a d the front desk offered to take my bags a d text me when the was ready. The room I was given was a king bed one and it was a large room that was clean and located in the back away from the street sounds which I like. If I had to point something out it would be the weird shower glass set up it was only half and protected the toilet but not the rest of outside bathroom floor which was weird
Great location and rooms are new and modern. Reason for three stars and not higher: The room had a half window and that was all. Need more natural light. Front desk said they would bring towels, they never did. Valet parking is $38 per night. What a rip off! I would not stay here again. I would recommend to stay on the Hilton downtown. They have an amazing rooftop bar, it is new and modern and the rooms all have floor to ceiling windows with amazing natural light.
If you havenβt stayed at the Schofield before, youβre doing yourself a disfavor. Itβs polished, clean, trendy and has friendly and helpful staff. I travel often for work and staying in hotels quickly becomes old. The Schofield, however, provides a home-like environment while still maintaining professionalism. Highly recommend staying at the Schofield or a Kimpton hotel.
Great location - within walking distance of everything you need downtown. Nice bar on the 1st floor. Valet parking 24/7 in front. All the amenities are available, but you may have to ask the front desk for them to make sure your room has them. Very clean, eco-friendly, and attracts a nice crowd.
Had an incredible experience at this hotel. From the moment we arrived... we had a free glass of wine in hand, our bags handled and checked into our very large and well decorated room. The location is fantastic. Walkable to all the stadiums, East 4th, Public square, playhouse square, etc.The highlight was the shower. Incredible. Honestly I canβt wait to stay there again.
Lovely, stylish boutique hotel in ideal downtown location. Spacious, clean rooms with 5* bedding (firm mattress, soft sheets, down comforter, ample pillows) and robes. Every very staff member was professional, friendly and helpful. Housekeeper left daily handwritten notes which I appreciated knowing who was in my room. Great lobby to relax in (cozy, spacious living room style) and excellent bar/restaurant alongside (excellent food, moderately priced). I loved my stay and highly recommend.
This hotel is beautiful and the staff is great. We were traveling across the country and stopped here for the night with our 2 dogs, 1 cat, and toddler and didnt arrive until late. Staff was very nice, loved on our pets and showed us to our room. Rooms are great, but no tub. Will definitely stay here again if in the Cleveland area!
Shower was huge and the bed was very comfortable. Our room had another room connected to it and we could easily hear the people talking on the other side so next time I would make sure to request a non connected room. All staff that we encountered were extremely friendly. I called the day of and let them know it was our anniversary and the put a bottle of champagne on ice in our room along with some chocolates and a personalized note. You can walk pretty much anywhere downtown from here.
There is nothing I dislike about this hotel. Maybe the rates could be a little lower, but so could the stinking tax rate. Amazingly comfortable bedding, and crisp, clean, bed-clothes. The room decor is somewhat contemporary without the starkness; fun, but not campy. The hotel staff is curtious, knowledgeable, gracious, accommodating and fun. All this without the stuffiness or airs.
It was a clean hotel, I had a good first impression. The staff was attentive and polite. The guys out front actually set the bar high as parking was a nightmare. We were at an event at the lobby bar. We want to the Indians game after and the location was great. It was a quick walk to progressive feild.
The Kimpton Schofield is a wonderful hotel located directly downtown. Beautiful interior and wonderful rooms. Awesome service as well! Easily accessible walks to 4th Street and the lake and Ohio city is just over the bridge. Across from an awesome market as well! My only complaint are the doors are a little easy to hear through but thats easily every hotel anywhere. Worth a stay if you are in Cleveland!
I was a bit disappointed, this was supposed to be a four star hotel but Iβd say a 3 at best. I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service, the valet, and we loved the bathroom (especially that shower head) other than that it deserved an average rating. Sheets and pillows were dingy and very worn, that was an instant turn-off!
We recently stayed at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel Cleveland OH, for a birthday weekend. This establishment exceeded our expectations from the moment the valet parked our car. We were greeted at the door by an incredible staff just offering help in everyway. Ryan, the gentleman that assisted us with our luggage went out of his way to make our trip amazing. We had never visited Cleveland before, so Ryan laid out an over the top itinerary for us. Everyday he followed up with us to make sure that we were having a wonderful time. Never before have I ever been so impressed with such an amazing employee. I highly recommend this place, it is super clean and the staff makes you feel right at home. It is close to everything so we walked to most every restaurant. Highly suggestion that if you stay there you ask for Ryan, hes someone that you will most definitely want to meet.
I really loved this hotel. The front desk was fantastic. They upgraded my room and sent treats up to the room for my husbands birthday. The happy hour at the restaurants bar was perfect and the bartenders were great. Across the street there is an excellent food market with wine and beer by glass. If I come back to Cleveland I will stay here again.
My clients chose the Kimpton Schoefield as their getting ready location for their wedding day and they couldnt have picked a better hotel. Their suites are so spacious and the natural light in there is amazing. Another great thing about this hotel is that they are pet friendly! My brides best bud Winston was able to keep her company during her getting ready portion of the day and it made for some great photos. The staff was so helpful and kind. Their lobby is impeccable and trendy. I will continue to recommend this hotel to any of my wedding couples looking for a hotel to get ready for their wedding day.Photos by: Me and the Moon Photography
Great service! Both the room and the public areas are very comfortable spaces. The staff is eager to share information about the area for those ready to explore Cleveland. Located right downtown this friendly boutique style hotel is walking distance from lots of local attractions.
The hotel was nice and clean in general, but the rooms were quite small, and there was no door on the shower. This made the bathroom floor get quite wet when you took a shower. They did however provide ample amounts of shampoo and conditioner, which I appreciated. So there were benefits and drawbacks, but for the most is was just a pretty standard hotel. Not sure that I would choose to stay here again though.
One of my favorite Kimpton locations so far. Gorgeous walk-through showers in their accessible rooms and sizable bathroom vanities for washing dishes, toiletries, etc. Cozy & comfortable beds and good lighting, with cute wall sconces. I would add a bit more desk space to match what they have at some of their other locations. Coffee service is great in the morning, and the lobby has a very comfortable work table and seating area for meeting with visitors. Room service is prompt and has a good selection of items. Note that theres no self-parking - just pull up in front and leave your car with the valet.
OMG, this is one of the best kept secrets in Cleveland. I had a really bad day and needed a retreat to get away. it helped me clear my mind and come up with a back up plan. The people at the counter were very nice. it was refreshing to talk to them. There is such a warm, inviting climate. Thank you.
Nice, fancy, in the heart of downtown. The staff is good. Higher up, the views are pretty great. But there was something in the air in the rooms which made it hard for me to breathe if I stayed there for more than a few hours and it took me days to recover; the rooms also had an odd (not unpleasant, just different) smell to them. But they were spacious and had great amenities and high-class decoration.
The Kimpton Schofield is in the heart of downtown Cleveland and within perfect walking distance to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The rooms themselves are spacious and offer great amenities. The gym was a little small and it took a bit of time to get our room made up even after we asked. But overall I would recommend.
Love the Schofield! Central location, beautifully restored building, and a delightful bar restaurant looking out on the city street. Great food, drinks and atmosphere! The Meat and Cheese Plate was fantastic!! The young ladies who were bartending worked really well together and were just as friendly and funny as can be! Open early and late, too. Overall, the Schofield seemed to be managed to maximize the guest experience.
The room was really nice and spacious. It had one of the best showers that Ive ever been in, good water pressure and good water volume. The shower was incredibly relaxing. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I will definitely stay here again my next trip to Cleveland.
They may go a little light on the amenities but the staff absolutely makes up for any of the missing material details (no room fridge, mainly). The concierge and attendants were the friendliest and most helpful people Ive met in Cleveland. Id choose this hotel again.
Very nice hotel! I was surprised that there was no parking and you had to valet. Only complaint was that the house keeping woke us up at 8:22am so make sure you dont forget to put your do not disturb sign on your door!! Great location, comfy bed, and the room was so clean!! AND you dont have to check out until 12, such a plus!!!
We had a great experience at the Kimpton Scofield! The facility is beautiful and the staff showed us great hospitality. Parking was a little challenging since the hotel is right down town, but we managed. The Bed was a B- in my book but my husband slept great. The pillows were also all fairly firm, so I advise you bring your own if you prefer something fluffier/flatter to sleep on. The shower though was spectacular. You could easily fit 10 people inside. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here!
I stayed here when I was in town for the Cleveland Marathon. The staff called ahead and asked if there was anything extra I needed for my race, which was very nice and unexpected. The hotel is GORGEOUS and pet friendly and you can walk to the Indians stadium or over to the House of Blues and other Cleveland nightlife.
We decided to stay here when we visited Cleveland and we are so glad we did! Great decor and ambiance, sizeable rooms with nice accomdations...great location for a visitor, and the staff was super friendly and responsive. It is also adjacent to a fantastic restaurant called Betts that offers cocktails to go! The valet is a tad expensive, but they get your car timely and you know its safe. 100% recommended!
My wife and I recently celebrated an anniversary with the Schofield team and we cant say enough great things about the staff and the hotel. Weve stayed at a lot of hotels, and a number of Kimptons but this one is at the top of our list. Its close to a lot of Cleveland hot spots, the rooms are gorgeous and extremely comfortable, the staff was absolutely incredible. If youre visiting Cleveland, STAY HERE! You wont be disappointed.
Cool little hotel . My review is 2 stars because of the pathetic Christmas Pop up bar that they allow in their building. $13 for a drink served in a plastic cup, LOL! Do yourself a favor if feel the need to hit a Christmas bar. Stop in, take your pictures of all the tacky, gaudy, cheap Christmas decor, then leave. That way you can say youve been to a Christmas pop up bar without getting ripped off.
Back at our favorite halfway point to upstate NY from Chicago. Wouldnt stay anywhere else! Staff and facilities are always amazing and consistent. Have stayed several times!! Always awesome!!Also- the staff are all so sweet to my old dog β€οΈyou can walk everywhere and there is so much close byStay here! So convenient, you get big city with all the personal touches!
I cant begin to tell you how friendly...genuinely friendly, this hotel staff are with all their guests!! The rooms are updated in a historic building...and very eclectic too! And the bed....usually our biggest complaint when we stay at a hotel...PASSES the sleeping test...as well as great pillows too! We will stay here anytime we are in Cleveland...and the free happy hour is a nice touch!!
Absolutely beautiful hotel, great city veiws. Staff was so kind and made it a very special night for birthday celebration! They were always available if we needed anything. The hotel is a very on trend modern style, and the restaurant/bar in it has a great menu and outstanding cocktail menu. Fully stocked snack bar and minibar.
The hotels staff is very friendly, and I liked the amenities that were included. The beds are comfier than most hotels Ive stayed at. The location is a prime spot to walk to any of the major sport stadiums and to East 4th st. Some of the cons are the standard rooms are not as spacious as I have thought for the price. The shower looks nice, but not having a door is awkward. The outlets did not work properly. My girlfriend had to shove the hair dryer prongs into the outlet. The front desk associate said shed send up some wine/snacks to our room for our celebration, but she never did. She even knew when wed be out for dinner. Lastly, there was a note from a previous guest. It welcomed the guest to the hotel and to enjoy her stay. I didnt take it personal, but it seemed unprofessional to have a note for a previous guest in a room I was staying in.
I came with my dad coz he had a heart condition and we were visiting the Cleveland Clinic. We stayed in the hotel for 7 nights. Only God knows how we survived all that long.- Worst housekeeping (they donβt clean the room or the toilet unless u ask. They just make up the bed without even straightening the sheets well)- Worst room service.- Worst front desk employees.- Worst breakfast ever.- Worst valet service (They charge u $38 a day!!!!)Avoid .. Avoid .. Avoid ..
My husband and I, along with my family, stayed at the Kimpton Schofield for our wedding. We had a wonderful experience! When we arrived to our room, we had a handwritten note congratulating us on our wedding and a bottle of champagne. Ryan and Miles were both so helpful and made us feel very at home! We will be back for sure.

2022-06-26Check in was nice and easy. There were different opts for parking which was nice. Room was clean. Shower had hot water and pressure was solid. Not impressed with pillows on bed. Only 1 elevator working, was not ideal. Staff very friendly. Location could not be beat. Price was within reason. I would return.

2022-06-30Please do not stay here and save your precious money.. the problem is the building.. it is pretty old.. we stayed during the memorial day weekend.. the room was noisy.. the thermostat was not working.. finally, and most importantly, the flush of the commode was not working properly.. we need to call for assistant twice.. still it had problem..this is the first hotel where we do not see any coffee machine at the room..The staff was very good though..

2022-07-02Although my room didnt have a coffee maker or microwave, I still had an amazing experience here. The staff in the front desk were very helpful, especially Lyonas. She gave me a lot of assistance, went beyond and above π

2022-04-26Positive: All staff were very friendly! We felt happy and welcome from the minute we arrived! The lobby is beautiful and the free wine hour was a blast. Comfortable beds and the black out shades were awesome! Negative: Seems like they mailed it in with the room decor. Definitely comfortable, but did not reflect the lobby. The shower water pressure was tough and the tub didnΓΒΏt drain well. One of the elevators was broken so it took a while to get up and down one day.

2022-06-21The complimentary bike rentals for guests were a life saver since the city has great bike trails but no bike share system.

2022-06-11Positive: Nothing. I will never stay here again. Negative: The platform bed SAGGED in the middle. I felt the coils inside. The noise outside at 4:30 a.m., collecting trash or bottles was great. If you like EVERYTHING in the bathroom getting wet while you shower, come here! What a joke! Rude restaurant staff!

2022-05-21Had the city view room, which was across from the Cleveland Trust Company Building. The hotel is also in a historic building, the staircase are original from 1902. It is on an intersection with Euclid Ave, I recommend checking out Cleveland Walks for the history. The only problem was there is only one staff at the front desk. Someone in front wanted to keep complaining and we just had to wait and wait until theyre happy.

2022-03-06Our best Cleveland hotel experience thus far! Great location (within walking distance to the casino and tons of restaurants and bars), fun, boutique-style decor in lobby and rooms, and very clean. Everything seems fresh and modern. Complimentary wine hour was also a nice bonus!Valet parking is fairly pricey at $40 a night, but thereβs a parking garage right around the corner that we used for $14 a night.

2022-06-14Nice boutique hotel with a lot of cute touches, very close to many attractions. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would have liked a fridge in the room, but the bed was very comfortable
