The quality of food at all locations in Lima have gone downhill. I always get a cheeseburger and they used to taste amazing! But nowadays the burger is lukewarm to cold and tastes too much like the bun instead of a cheeseburger, sodas sometimes not enough carbonation, and the fries are half soft.
Stop smashing the burgers on the grill!!!! Grew up on Kewpee...nothing is ever as good as it was when you were a kid...but Kewpee is about 85% as good...lol...every other place...20%...but I hate when they smash the burgers trying to heat them up before being made into a sandwich. Just dries out the meat...Still love Kewpee. The rhubarb pie was fantastic. I will continue to stop everything Im in town.

Kewpee has always been a great choice for a local meal. The food is just as good as ever but it takes a lot longer and there are more mistakes. Although they have longer wait times, Kewpee is a great company!
What a nostalgic place to eat. Food was fast and yummy. They were very busy.

Normally I enjoy it, but tonight on east side, not good. Fries were barely warm and all 3 of us had pink in our burgers. The line was super long and I was not going to wait to get it corrected, so I ate what I could and tossed the rest. Will not be returning.

I drove a hour based on reviews. I just dont understand how this place has so many good reviews when my experience was so bad. First it 30 minutes to get thru the drive thru line. Next my order was so messed up covered with condiments I cant stand and said onion only. My other sandwich was greasy and bacon was like rubber. The fries was not even close to being fresh. The chili is not as good as Wendys. I gave it 2 stars the chocolate malt was pretty dang good and the lemon crunch pie wasnt to bad. I will not ever return. By the way if your thirsty you better order 3 drinks, they smaller than a kids cup.
Hands down the best classic burger in Ohio. Actually youll be hard pressed to find a better burger anywhere. I highly recommend doing a triple with olives 🙂

We drive here from Cincinnati. The line was wrapped around the building, but their burgers are totally worth the wait! The prices are almost unbelievable. This place will NOT disappoint!
Their burgers were good for the price. Definetly better quality than the typical fast food fare. Weird topping selection, had miracle whip instead of mayo, and charged extra for lettuce and tomatoes. All around enjoyed the experience. The inside dining area could have been cleaner. And what is up with the weird naked baby mascot, creepy...

One of my favorite places to eat at when I’m in Lima! I always look forward to going to the Kewpee because their food is always very good and the prices are great as well! I have been going to the Kewpee since I was a kid and it’s great that the food is always consistent, you can always get a good meal! A trip to Lima isn’t complete unless you stop at the Kewpee.
• Old school place, and I mean old oldschool, including the low prices! Good simple burgers, great custard/malt and variety of pies.Close to I75, a must stop!• The burger was well done in terms of quality and taste, but was a little but small despite it being a double. Fries were crispy, custard/malt was one of the best Ive had and pies tasted liked they came from a home baker.
We stop here every time we are in town. They may always be busier than other restaurant options, but that should tell you how worth the wait the food is.
Great place. Good food. I discovered it completely by accident looking for another restaurant. I’m glad I found Kewpee hamburgers. This place is quite nice and interesting at the same time. The pies looked amazing and I regret not trying them. Next time!
Had high hopes for this place. It was our first time and by the looks of the lines both inside and in the drive thru we thought it was going to be good. We were very disappointed though. It was our turn in line and we were very rudely told to move so a lady could buy her coffee. Then when that was done we werent acknowledged at all. In fact they tried to skip right over us AGAIN. When we told them we were next the girl working the cash register gave us a very nasty look didnt say a word just turned around and walked away. She disappeared for over 15 minutes. We were very confused. Then when she read our order to us it was completely wrong. Even after trying to get that fixed we returned home to find it was still completely messed up.Still we didnt come for the service we came for the food so we tried to make the best of everything. That was horrible as well though. The burgers had little to no flavor. The toppings were skimpy and gross. The bacon was pretty good. The chili was the worst tasting thing I have ever eaten. It was water and just nasty. The drinks are TINY. No one explained to us that when you ask for a medium drink it looks like a child drink. When you ask for a large drink it looks like a small. We had to stop and get drinks from the store before heading home which was annoying because all we wanted was to be able to eat dinner.Overall this place is terrible. It was our first time and definitely our last! No idea what the hype is.

I hadnt had a Kewpee burger in over 20 years and my wife had never. It was very good and will definitely return again. Though the labor shortage is impacting the wait time. Our burgers were also a bit on the cool side, most likely due to the labor shortage. I would definitely not hold that against them.
So thankful for Google reviews! I have never posted a review but today I just must! When traveling I have decided to start using Google reviews to decide where to eat. Today I am hours from home on a ministry trip and I decided to Google where to eat. I scrolled, then filtered by stars and saw this local burger place. I decided to go try it! So glad I did! The line was long which is always a good sign. The people waiting were all so nice and many struck up a conversation with me, I have a baby so that always invited conversation haha! The food was great. What felt like a great homemade burger, some fries, and a nice piece of pie. Definitely get a double large drink it only adds cents and is way bigger than the other sizes! The service is so friendly, one worker helped by bringing my tray to where I was sitting since I was carrying a car seat.If ever in the area I would DEFINITELY eat here again, if just for the friendly, community type atmosphere!!Wish every town had a place like this! ❤️

Had a wonderful time at kewpee! They restaurant was clean and neat, service was pleasant and quick and the food was great! I always loved coming here as a kid and it hasnt changed a bit! Good as the good old days!

Pretty fast even when really busy! Ive been to soooo many burger places hundreds throughout 29 states and this is my 3rd favorite of ALL the places Ive tried. And in reality all 3 of my top 3 burgers , they taste VERY similar and fresh ground daily
Great service until you have a big family. I get it that it seems a little but you dont have to act all like oh my life is so hard because of you guys. However other than that its great service and food.

Order taker and cashier were very cheery and friendly. The burger and the fries were fresh and perfect. After being away a couple years and getting to enjoy a Kewpee again, I was very pleased with the inside experience.

Its a long time staple of Lima Ohio and its community. Decent hamburger but you have to go get a malt while youre there. Sugar cream pie is pretty good also. Support the locals the most you can. What a great place

Me and my family was traveling to great wolf lodge in Cincinnati, made a quick pit stop if you love hamburgers like i do its a must stop spent 18 bucks to feed 4 of us 🇺🇸 best 18 bucks ever,i recommend try the green olive toppings.yummmm

Kind of a wait, because theyre very short staffed. They make a great burger, with locally sourced beef! The mixed berry, strawberry rhubarb, and lemon crunch pie is also very good!

One of my favorite burger places when I’m near home from Florida. My wife had Kewpee for her first time when we were visiting last. She is obsessed with your food now. She talks about getting food to eat while we are there and even ordering food to go. So we can have food for later after we drive home!
I saw this place on line and made a 2 hour road trip to try it out. Amazing old school burgers and chili. Would highly recommend trying it if your in the area
The burgers are good. The fries are good. They remind me of what Wendys used to be, in a good way. I can see why some claim that Wendys stole them. On the other hand, I wasnt impressed with the chili, which was pretty thin and lacking flavor. It was all pretty inexpensive though. And the line was kind of long at 1150 am, which I guess is both an inconvenience and an endorsement.

Theres probably no where in the United States that has a better Burger then Kewpee!!! I have been eating Kewpee since I was little girl ,I grew up eating everything on their menu!!! their food is fresh and amazing!! The staffs is amazing most of them have been there for 20 years or more and I would not change a thin!! There is no other sandwich shop that can even come close!!!
Dont go there in the evenings or on the weekend. The food is not as good. Last night I got a piece of French silk pie and it looked like half of it was eaten. Hardly any fries in the container as well.
The experience at Kewpee is like no other! The food is usually delicious, reasonably priced, and the staff is great!Really the only thing that I dont care for are the fries - theyre not really that good. Often theyre not very fresh, and they rarely have enough salt on them.

The food wasnt much to get excited about, lacked flavor and seemed to compensate it with the overwhelming amount of sauce on the burger. The fries were alright, but nothing special once again, they werent crispy like I had hoped, and were a little soggy. However the ice cream or whatever they call it was awesome. A rich, dark flavor of chocolate that stayed in my mouth for a while.
Prices were amazing, and the staff was outstanding at getting through the long lines quickly. Will definitely be back!
The people were very very nice the customer service was on point the food was great and the scenery remind you of when it first got there they didnt forget where they came from I appreciate that and the first place Ive ever really seen had actual words on the paper day use to wrap up your sandwiches really unique

Always a great bite to eat! Our kids love the burgers which are bought from local farmers. The fries are perfect every time and youll want to be sure to grab a malt too. Service is rather quick and friendly. Looking forward to getting to dine in again soon!

The absolute best fast food in Lima, pick the location it doesnt matter! Cant say enough about this business. When it comes to being a staple in the community theyre it. Their food is top notch, and fresh! The Double XL drink and frozen yogurt are the deals, Special burgers are what to get. Their pies set them apart. The employees there you can trust, a majority of them have been there for decades. Everything is made in sight. Expect lines at meal times, they feed a lot of mouths every day!
If you stop in Lima, Kewpee is a must-try! The prices are great, the food is delicious, and the workers are precise. In all of my years of living in Lima, I cant recall a time they got my order wrong. Kewpees delicious food actually inspired the founding of Wendys! Seriously, look it up. Dave worked at Kewpee and used their menu to start up his own national chain. If you stop by, make sure to try a frosty! Their burgers and fries are also great, and their pies are delicious.

Ordered a fish sandwich. Was asked to wait for it to cook, 6 minutes. I agreed as usual. 4 minutes later my food was ready, except for my fries so I had to wait for them. When I sat down to eat, my fish was cold and burnt.
A Lima institution! You order at the counter and pick up your food at the counter. There was a line when we arrived for lunch, but it moves quickly. When you get to the cash register, your food and drink are waiting. Food was good.
I lived in Alaska for years and when ever Id come home for a visit, Kewpee was the very 1st place I wanted to go! Was raised on Kewpee hamburgers and malts.. definitely cannot find anyone that even comes close to them in taste! Yummy

My burgers have always been great. Seared on the outside and juicy on the inside. Toppings are always fresh. But the best is the frosted malt. You must get one. They are delicious
The service is always tremendously slow whether they are busy or not. And I workers are rarely friendly if not just plain rude. For the life of me, I dont understand how so many people seem so willing to wait for such a long time for food here, when it isnt even that good. Dont get me wrong. It isnt bad. But I am just as happy with a Whopper from Burger King.

I dont understand how this place has such great reviews. Nostalgia I guess... Ive been here twice while visiting family in lima and I can say Ill never come back. The place was dirty. Food options are limited. Its just your standard hamburger with normal hamburger options.. nothing special. And the staff were downright RUDE!!!! Snappi g at each other. Snappi g at customers. Turning away half the people that tried to come in cause they were trying to switch to drive thru only in the middle of lunch house. It was just a ridiculous experience as a whole.
Stopped here on my way back to Findlay. Got the double with cheese special. Comes with mayo lettuce and tomato. The best burger Ive had in a long time. Any time I stop to eat in Lima this is a must have place. Highly recommend adding bacon and pickle to almost any sandwich. And the double large Dr pepper is only like a dollar 10. You cant beat the price or quality of this place any where.

Let me not forget to mention, the staff that served this meal were by far the friendliest, most patient, caring, and thoughtful, group of individuals I have ever encountered from an eatery. Overall, the appearance of the food, the taste, and the customer service is of and in itself, one of a kind. If you want a home grilled burger with fresh toppings and fries better than any other on the planet, then, kewpee is the place. They could expand beyond their home town, but then again, that would take the fun out of small hometown treasures.
Great old fashioned hamburger place, a Lima Ohio institution. The drive thru line was about 6 deep, but moved quick, and the food was hot and fresh.

After a 15 hour drive from TX we were told this was the place! So we ordered to go... cant dine inside. Got to the room and the fries were old and stale. My one burger patty was not cooked through. So I call the manager Wayne and he offers no compensation only Ill look into it. I highly recommend you go somewhere else. My first sign should have been the gentleman returning his burger for dirty lettuce. 👎😒
I havent had Kewpee since I was a teen which was a long time ago 😊 Today I had a fish sandwich which they make while you wait. Omg it was so delicious with a crispy not greasy breading! I will drive the 30 minutes to eat there again!!

Kewpee is straight 🔥! They have the freshest ingredients of any fast food. Absolutely the best. Everything they have is amazing. Burgers are killer, fries are great, and I LOVE their malts.I would hook up an IV of their double bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, onion, and miracle whip if I could! We ALWAYS get Kewpee when we are in Lima. And I dream about it when I am at home. Heck, even the burps taste good!
First time trying them, and we were very impressed with their food. Very good quality, hot and fresh as everything was cooked to order. Their malts were SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD, thick and creamy! Hamburgers were excellent, and their fish sandwich was top notch. Very courteous employees, and fast service, will definitely be back again.

Cheeseburger was very good, not greasy, not salty and only cost $2.45. Every topping needs to be ordered separately. Fish sandwich was hot and crispy. Again had to add tarter sauce to the order separately. Good chili ($1.70) with cheese (+.70) and Fritos (+.40). Malts taste just like Wendys Frosty but slightly creamier. Frozen raspberry yogurt earned 2 thumbs up! We were just passing through and wanted to try something new.

Drove up from Dayton Ohio to try the burgers. A friend of mine said that they were best Burger East of the Mississippi. I have to admit this was a phenomenal double cheeseburger. One of the best i have ever had. The French fries were on point. Even though we went through the drive-through, I have to admit that this was some of the best customer service Ive ever had. We even explain to them that we are taking two double cheeseburgers back to Dayton, Ohio. Not only did they put the topings on the side, but they separated the Burger from the buns for the trip so nothing would become soggy. I didnt have to request this, they offered it. That is a step way beyond what Ive ever seen at any other Burger joint. My buddies and I will definitely be back to sample the pie. My only question is, when are you coming to Dayton?

This whole meal cost me just $5.80. I would compare the burger to one from Powers without the extra grease and onions. The pie was also tasty, despite it looking messy in this picture... the frozen yogurt was super sweet but I cant put my finger on the flavor. Overall, it was great food for the price. I really wish we had one in Fort Wayne or West Lafayette!!
Been a long time since had been there. The nostalgic benefits were great and the burgers and fries and frosty all fine. Next time would get a double, however as forgot how sparse the burgers were.

Quite possibly the best Kewpee Restaurant. Very pleasant welcoming staff, and typically the freshest ingredients.My favorite thing about Kewpee is you can order a burger and fry during breakfast. As a third shifter of almost 15 years, Im sick and tired of breakfast. Im especially tired of eating breakfast for what should be my dinner.Between the downtown, and elida location its hard to say which is worse. I dont want make them out to be terrible, but both are subpar to this location.
Need to pay more attention to what people order they got my husbands order right but didnt even hear mine. So Im stuck with no food because I refuse to go back and I was already annoyed that she didnt even her me about a cup of WATER really.

Ive NEVER eaten here before, the line was long, but after eating my cheeseburger, I can see why. My cheeseburger was thee best hamburger that Ive EVER had. It had great flavor, crispy edges...WOW! Unbelievable! The staff was friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Thank you for an amazing dinner!

This is a good burger place unique to Lima, OH. Their burgers are good, especially since they have that home-cooked taste to them. I just wish there was more of a selection to choose from, but if youre hungry for a good burger, then this place will get the job done. Great service, friendly and family oriented staff make this Kewpee feel like more than just a place to eat. Youll definitely be taken care of here.

The burgers were quite good. I definitely enjoyed my double with cheese and all the fixings plus relish. The malt was like the best Wendys frosty ever, and the fries were perfect for dipping in the malt. The chili was runny. The pies were fine. There was plenty of clean seating. Id go back.

I waited in a 30 minute line after visiting my brother in Lima, knowing I would be eating and driving with my food. Worth every minute. This local 100 year old burger joint puts the most of the $7 hamburgers around Columbus in their place.

I found this restaurant to be slightly below average. I ordered some fries and they tasted pretty bland. However, the restaurant’s atmosphere was quite nice. It was built like a diner and it really felt like you were in the 1950s.
Fantastic dinner: cheeseburger fries; frosty... I mean, malt; sugar cream pie (very sweet, almost too sweet). I wish I had ordered the apple pie. Asked for mayonnaise but only got a little. Some staff friendly others not so much... But I can relate having worked fast food in the past. Overall Im grateful to God for a delicious meal and if youre able check it out to support it rather than a huge chain restaurant. I hope this place survives for a long time!
A huge draw for me to this place is the nostalgia. Everything about this fast food restaurant is out of the 50s - menu, style, decor, even the uniforms. I think they have good burgers. My vegetarian friend got the cold cheese sandwich. They have a huge selection of pies to choose from, including unusual ones like raisin and hot mince.

I grew up near Lima and have been here many times...I have never been disappointed! Food is always very fresh. The burger patties are tasty, tomatoes are thick-sliced and flavorful, and the lettuce is crisp. The interior of the restaurant is pretty simplistic and dated, but the restaurant is a piece of Ohio history and I like the fact that it hasnt changed much over the years. Locals love this place....check it out when youre in the Lima area!
My parents came here in their youth, and if I lived closer, I would visit regularly! The chili is delicious, though a bit thin. If I think about it when Ill be in town, I need to call and see if I can get a gallon to take home!
This food was AMAZING. One of the best burgers I have ever had... The fries were amazing too. Im not from here buy if i ever come back up here again I will definitely stop here again to eat.

Love the Kewpee! The burgers are so good - they are the thinner ones! Make sure you get a chocolate malt - seriously the best. And sounds weird but dipping fries in the malt - delicious! This place is iconic. The kewpee doll, the feel of dining in with seats that are mounted to the table (can’t right now due to Covid), taking your order on a notepad, the slogan - Hamburg, pickle on top, makes your heart go flippity flop - you need to experience it. Can’t dine in right now but can go in to do carry out and the bathrooms were open. I’m originally from the area and whenever I get a chance to get to get to Lima - Kewpee is a must stop!
They use to be great, but Ive had some really bad experiences with them lately. The most recent we spent over ten minutes AFTER we got to the window waiting before they acknowledged us to take our money and give our drinks, my drink was sitting there since before we reached the window and the ice was significantly melted and the drink watered down. The fries were really stale and cold and unsalted. They messed up my burger, adding Mayo and forgetting lettuce. Messed up another burger forgetting the only topping of ketchup. There were four young ladies inside gabbing the whole time. I like Kewpee food, I love the history, I am very disappointed in the current employees who are apparently there only for a paycheck.
Stopped while traveling, they were busy as usual. Burger was burnt and very greasy(which is unusual) and the fries were incredibly salty which is also unusual. I stop at Kewpee every couple months and this was the first time it wasnt up to par.
First time in Ohio for Christmas. My bestie took me to her childhood burger spot and I enjoyed every moment of it. The staff couldve been a little more happier at the workplace. They kinda made the first time visit very lame. Overall great quality food!

Im from Philly. Went to visit someone in lima Ohio.I was told kewpee burger is to Ohio as cheese steaks are to Philly???100 percent in agreement.Some how this plain burger was great!!! Definitely try this simple burger.
Stopped in here for lunch to meet up with an old friend. It was a good choice.The burgers were very good. Sometimes its nice to have an extra juicy burger that requires several napkins. This is the place for that kind of burger. The fries were pretty good as was the iced tea.I liked that they had fresh pies for dessert, too. The pecan pie was very good, though the crust was a tad overdone. I also enjoyed the soft-serve style vanilla.I was told by my friend that Kewpies was the model that Dave Thomas used when he created Wendys. I have to believe that true, based on the similarities in the burgers and the Frosty like desserts.Either way, this is a great place to stop if you in Lima. Check it out.
They are definitely working hard in there but my food was not hot. The apple was delicious and so was the chocolate malt.
Been eating here for years burgers are pretty good lines can be ridiculous but they do the best they can with the setup they have. Will continue to visit every time im in lima.

So the story goes that apparently Wendys stole all their ideas from Kewpee, and I believe it. The food is like Wendys but way better like they put more care into it. The malts are very similar to a frosty only smoother, and more chocolaty. Service is great too, as crowded as this place was we didnt wait too long to get our food and the restaurant was very clean. I would definitely recommend this place.
This is my all-time favorite burger joint to sit down at and have a bite to eat. Ive been going here intermittently for ten-plus years, and I still have yet to be dissappointed by their food.Id suggest eating in if you can; the atmosphere feels kind of retro, especially at the smaller-sized location.

On our way home we were looking at restaurants on Google maps. We found this place and decided to try it!!! Food is very cheap and best of all its absolutely AMAZING!!! The food was very fresh and hot!! Im sad this place is an hour and a half away from home. But we will venture back up this way to eat again!! 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend!!!!
The best old fashioned hamburgers and fries I have had in a long time. The atmosphere and decor of the place takes me back to when it first opened. Im very glad we stopped and tried the kewpee burgers. Thanks for a great eating experience.

This place was strange. The food wasnt bad, but not noteworthy enough to capture a photo of, either. The naked dolls and the cafeteria style seating made for one strange meal. 1 out of 5 🍔 and Im only giving one 🍔 because the counter girl was really sweet and the food was edible. Describe the atmosphere? Think: Geriatric Children of the Corn, since we were the only people under 60.

Reminds me of my childhood. Hamburgers are good and fresh. Pleasant people. Order was correct. Not fond of their tables and chairs but it is fast food. Good fries at a good temperature. Frosted malts, yum. Didnt have their pie, even though it is Cherry Pie month. Good pies. Sugar cream is the bomb and beats Der Dutchman any day of the week.

2022-04-02Ordered a double cheese burger with everything on it with a side of fries and a drink. The taste was great and the meat patties had a classic grill taste with all the veggies that were in the burger. I am not from the state, but will go again whenever I pass through Ohio again. Recomiendo

2022-06-28This place has been a part of the community for many many years. A friend took me there for the first time a few years ago. The food was amazing! The hamburgers were hot and juicy, the fries were hot, and the chocolate malts are delicious!!! Unfortunately, the last couple of times we have been there, it has been a different story, and today was one of them. We both ordered 2 cheeseburgers and a fry. After waiting in line for almost 25 minutes with only 5 orders ahead of us, we got our food. The burgers were dry and barely warm, the pickles and onions were scarce, and the ketchup and mustard were more on the outside of the bun than the inside. The fries were not very warm. Of course we got it to go so it was not worth the time to turn the truck and trailer around. This was the same the previous time we visited here. I hope something changes soon, because its really hard to find a good burger and fries anymore that doesnt cost an arm and a leg!

2022-07-14Kewpee burgers are the best in the midwest. They are fresh and made to order. None of that microwave mess you get at other places. I get a Kewpee double cheeseburger with everything on it almost every time I come to town. You have got to try it. Delicious!!! Woo, the pie is amazing any kind. The staff is fast and kind to everyone. FYI this is another line around the corner restaurant, so be prepared to wait. It is worth every minute.

2021-09-30Kewpee Hamburgers is a local gem in Lima Ohio and definitely worth a trip if you’re in the area. There are three locations throughout the town, but I personally stopped at the Bellefontaine store. Get here early if you are coming for lunch, as there was Atleast a 10-15 person line on a Monday at 11am.The store is setup like an old burger joint from the 60-70s and it seems to be run by a group of the sweetest older women you’ll ever meet.The ordering is simple. You pick your burger, toppings(some are extra), and then fries/drink. They also offer slices of homemade pie. After ordering, you pay at the register and they cook your food up fresh and hand it to you. The kitchen is visible from the register, so you can watch as your food is made.The burgers are good and the cost is surprisingly cheap compared to its peers. The burger is a patty bigger than your average McDonalds/Wendys brand. The bun didn’t feel cheap and was good. Toppings are very fresh.... however, they only offer Miracle Whip if you like mayo on your burger. I’m not a fan of miracle whip myself, but it honestly wasn’t bad on this burger, nor did it ruin my experience. The fries were crisp and tasty.There’s a small history exhibit in the store that explains the origins of the brand.Overall, if I ever pass through Lima, I would definitely eat here again. 👍

2022-07-05It may be a favorite of locals but it is a mystery to me why. My burger was dry and not a whole lot of flavor. Fries were nondescript. I waited 1 hr in line to order my food. I knew better but thought I would try it anyways. If you see one of these joints, just keep driving.
