Our usual place is closed and after the positive reviews my husband and I thought we would give this place a try. My husband had the shrimp Diablo, my husband said he has had better but has also had worse. I had the trio with meat sauce and extra cheese. The pasta was cooked well, however either the sauce or the meat was extremely salty. The cheese was burnt and gave this acrid bitter taste. This was definitely not a place I would recommend.
The only good thing about this place was our waitress. If you enjoy a cup of oil with your dish then this is your place. The chicken Alfredo was a bland as could be. The chicken also had a mushy texture. The moment I left this place my stomach was in knots. Today I woke up with stomach pain and unfortunately had diarrhea. This place should get a visit from the health inspector. All of this and the dish costs 25 dollars. Never again.
This was our first time visiting the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly. Jackie was our waitress and they worked hard to accommodate our large family celebrating a birthday. They actually went over and beyond to accommodate us. Food was delicious and served piping hot! We had the shrimp Alfredo, lasagna, chicken piccata, pizza, meatballs and mozzarella sticks...all was delicious! Jackie did a great job and flowed right into our celebration. I think the owner or manager was near our table and checked on us several times to ensure we were taken care of. I will highly recommend this restaurant and will revisit again soon!
Seafood Trio was good tasting but kind of skimped on the noodles and was watery. Maybe noodles needed better drained. It was like soup. Baked Ziti wasnt bad but also small on the noodles portion. Paid extra for meat sauce, wouldnt have been much on plate if we had not. Both dishes were way over priced for what we got. Do not like when bread is sloppy jammed on plate with dish to make it look more full. Bread should be on the side in a basket or separate plate, not already in the sauce. The wait staff gals were very welcoming and attentive. Casual but nice and clean atmosphere.
Trio pasta was really good and the chicken Alfredo was decent. Waitress was on point. The pizza was just ok,, the sauce was a bit bland and could have made this pizza good. Also the pepperonis as basic also.I liked the flavor of their red sauce but hated how chunky it was.
Love it! Its one of mine and my girlfriends favorite Italian places to eat dinner at. Much better food and service than Mamma DiSalvos. Never had a bad experience at Jimmys and theyve always taken great care of us. Well keep going back until they close, or we get too old to drive.
Sorry JimmWell stick with FazolisIt has really gone downhillSalad just a bowl of lettuce with one small tomato really bare. The lassana been cheapen now real greasy and the serving size has been dropped for dinnerSame with the rolls cheep roll with butter sauce dumped on top
First time here and we ordered carryout. Very long wait for our order but it was a Saturday night. Problem was the overall poor quality of the food and the ridiculous price we had to pay for it. Literally, we could have just microwaved some Marie Callenders frozen meals and not known the difference. Portions were miniscule and the salad consisted of iceberg lettuce with a small slice of tomato and a slice of cucumber...that was it! We had hoped for more authentic Italian cooking and this was anything but. I added a star because one family member ordered just meatballs and he said they were fine. Never again.
Probably my favorite Italian food in the Dayton metropolitan area!!! I prefer takeout due to the pandemic so I am solely rating the food and service here! They have excellent service and affordable quality food. Their entrees always come with delicious garlic rolls and a side salad with house made dressings. I am obsessed with their gnocchi and Alfredo sauce!
Awesome place! Marvelous food ! TIRAMISU was heaven for my mouth!!! 😇Fettuccine Alfredo was great !!!I would have loved to hear some Neapolitan songs or some canzone napoletana slowly singing in the background... I would have felt like I was in Bella Italia. 😍THANK YOU !We will definitely come back!
This was our first visit. We both tried the Spaghetti Dinners with Sausage and the other with Meatballs. Very tender and tasty. Had a lot leftover to carry home. Dinners came with house salads and garlic rolls. Plus we had Mozzarella Cheese sticks as an appetizer. I added a bottle of wine and he had a bucket of beer. Topped the evening off with the sharing of a Canolli. We agreed we would return in the near future for a baked dish. Many good meals to choose from.
Had a great date night here! The owner was there the night we went, and it is clear how much he cares about his restaurant. The place was busy when we went, but we still got great service and the food was fantastic! *Very* generous portions which is always a big plus. Overall, would absolutely recommend for a great dinner and a great lunch from leftovers the next day!
Our first time here for early dinner and we loved our meals. The salad was a great start with the house dressing very flavorful. Calzone was satisfying with a yummy marina and my seafood trio with lemon butter sauce was delicious! The pasta, Shrimp, Scallops, and clams were cooked perfectly with great flavor. Maria met us with a beautiful smile and was very helpful. We look forward to returning soon!
We sat outside on the patio which was decent but a bit warm since there are no fans to move the air.My wife and I followed the waiters suggestion and ordered the Chicken Marcella and a salad. Our daughter ordered the fettuccini with chicken. On a ten point scale our dinner was a 6. The portion sizes were generous but for the salad. The salad dressing was tasty but very thin like water. Our waiter was excellent however, the staff, including our waiter, were not masking which seems to be the norm all over Ohio. This was uncomfortable for us and unwise. Be forewarned that finding masked staff and patrons in Ohio was in our experience impossible and we were in every big city in Ohio.Would I recommend Jimmy’s? If your from a town known for good or great Italian food like St. Louis or New York - No. if you come from a place with Americanized Italian food and don’t make it from scratch at home you will probably be happy with Jimmy’s.
I went there with my family bc I saw such amazing reviews and had such high hopes for it. Waitress was very nice. The table we had was very wobbly. You can tell the dressing is homemade which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You do seem to get large portions but the food wasn’t bad nor good. My dish was very very bland and I had to add a ton of pepper in it just to have some flavor to it. It’s very overpriced. Not a fan of the garlic rolls but marinara sauce was ok. Pretty disappointed bc I expected better
We ate lunch at Jimmy’s for the first time day and loved it! The pasta trio lunch portion is impressive and it’s served with two hot and deliciously fresh garlic rolls. The meatball roll was also large and absolutely stuffed with cheese. Their pasta sauce was amazing! Even the iced tea was freshly brewed and tasty. We’ll definitely be back!
Weve driven past this place a thousand times and always considered stopping in. We finally did this week and realized weve been missing out for years. I loved the meat lasagne, my daughter (who rarely eats her meal at a restaurant) went crazy for the fried ravioli. My husband got a sausage pasta that looked a little underwhelming and he was blown away by the flavor. Great service on top of it all. We will definitely be back!
What an amazing experience. The staff was awesome including the owner who greeted our party of 16 and made sure we had a great time. The food was some of the best Italian I’ve ever had. The sauce was perfect and all the dishes were spot on. We will definitely come back often.
Stellar food and service. We loved the bollenaise sauce and the rolls that come with the pasta are awesome. The calzones are crunchy and delicious as well!Maria is awesome and was the best server. Her recommendations were awesome and she was a joy to have as a waitress. Made our afternoon such a fun time!!Excited to come back and enjoy the patio and service once again!
Stromboli was great here! Service was good too. The smell in there was interesting, might could use some additional cleaning. Also might want to tell cooks not to wipe their noses in the food window. Other than that it was a successful visit and I would recommend a return there to eat.
This was a great place for dinner! Alfredo sauce is a nice buttery flavor, cheesy garlic bread has real garlic cloves under the cheese, house dressing is a really nice italian store made blend. Several kids meals on the menu to choose from too. Service was good too! I really like this restaurant, cant believe Ive never been before! Prices are fair as well. I highly recommend!
Ive been hesitant to come here since this place opened, but my father and I decided to give it a shot and the experience was great. The food portions were big, the place felt comfortable and the staff were friendly and inviting. If I had to knock this place in someway, it would be that from the outside the restaurant isnt an attention grabber, but I definitely recommend giving this place a chance - certainly glad I did.
Decide to try Jimmys Italian Kitchen. It was a great decision. The service was great. We did have to move table because of A/C but they were fine with us needing to move. The food was great. We ordered the chicken piccata and seafood trio. The chicken was tender and full of flavors. The seafood trop had BIG scallops and shrimps. The potion was huge and we could not finish our dinner. The rolls are awesome too. Definitely going back so we can try their other dishes.
Our go-to Italian restaurant in Kettering. We seldom order appetizers since the dinner portions are so large, but we decided to try the fried calamari appetizer before our shrimp fradiavola and seafood trio, both amazing dishes, came out. I wish there were a bit more seasoning mixed in with the batter of the fried calamari. We love the marinara sauce, but its so thin that it just runs off the appetizer. Maybe consider thickening the marinara for apps like calamari and mozzarella sticks?I was a little less than thrilled to see that I was charged $4.50 for soda when the menu said $3 with free refills, but it wasnt worth squabbling over $1.50 upon leaving. Overall a pleasant experience and lots of leftovers!
First time there wont be the last. Delicious dinners, large portions, served steaming hot and very reasinably priced. Service was prompt and friendly. Husband had veal marsala, I had The Works pasta. Our friends had a stromboli and spaghetti bolonese. Each came with side salad and very good homemade dressing, and homemade fresh garlic rolls. My Works had a meatball, sausage link and mushroom sauce. Bith of our dinners were chock full of mushrooms. The sausage and meatball were delicious. I wonder if they are made on the premises. Only thing that could use improvement was the salad. Although very fresh, it was just iceberg lettuce, one cucumber slice a tomato or 2 and a little bit of onion. The restaurant was doing a brisk take out business. We were there early in the evening so had no trouble being seated. I look forward to my next visit.
The staff is kind and friendly, helpful with understanding the menu, and they dont rush you. The food is tasty and served hot. The rolls are served with your meal, which is different from big box italian - and a refreshing change. The rolls also have a texture between a soft roll and a pretzel, which is unique. They seem to alter the rolls seasonings to match the pasta as well, as the rolls at our table each looked different.COVID Notes: the staff wore masks the entire time, the tables are partitioned with high barriers, and independent tables are well-spaced. There is also an outdoor dining area that is in a tent with free air flow. I felt comfortable and safe here.
Walked in and this place smelled AMAZING! Ive lived here 4 years now and have heard a LOT of good things about Jimmys. Finally went today and boy oh boy... The food was great (spaghetti and meatballs - the meatballs were like those from The Wedding Singer!) Got a baklava to take home. Cant wait to go back again!
We went last Saturday evening & was seated immediately. Salads fresh with great bleu cheese dressings. We both had angel hair pasta special. DELICIOUS!! Lots of mushrooms in sauce, huge meatball and fantastic Italian sausage. We will add this to our list of favorites!!
My go to date night. Love this place. Best italian food Ive ever had and Ive been to a few old school Italian restaurants in NYC and this beats them! The cannoli is the best thing ive ever eaten. I love every dish Ive got, even the Alfredo and Im not a big Alfredo person usually. Our waitress was new I think but wanted to say she was great, didnt catch her name though.
100 stars. Highly recommend. Jimmys is soooo good! Our waiter was amazing and answered any questions we had, food was served hot and wait time was nothing. Every thing is authentic and made in house. Im not big on Italian food. But Jimmys has changed that, Ill definitely be back!
The best Italian food in Ohio. You wont be disappointed. The lasagna is the best i have ever tasted. The spaghetti with meat sauce is excellent. I have tried most things on menu and everything is quality food. The deserts are great. The only thing I didnt like is the garlic bread with cheese. I thought it would be loaf type of bread with cheese on top but I received 6 rolls with dipping sauce that tasted just like the rolls I got with the dinner. I couldnt see any cheese on rolls. If you order the 6 rolls it is 3.00 cheaper for the same thing you get with garlic bread.
The Pizza was fine. I ordered a Hawaiian. It did NOT have enough Pineapple. Please dont be so stingy on the pineapple! My friends ordered pasta items and they gobbled them up delightfully. I will have to try those next time, but the dinners are a little pricey. $18-22 on average. They could use a makeover on the Bathrooms: They were for 1 person at a time and they were basically clean. Mine was a little Stinky, maybe a better vent system would be enough. Water and Hostess were friendly. This place could use some Pizazz.
The absolute best italian food in area. Staff is always very friendly, quick, and great at recommending something new to try. You truly feel like family every time you walk through the doors of this cozy joint. I could not recommend this place more!! If you arent eating at Jimmys, you are missing out!
We stumbled upon this hidden gem when we realized another Italian restaurant we were heading to was closed for a week. Let me say that I’m glad it was closed. We really enjoyed dining here and will be back many times. Jimmy came to our table to chat with us and shake my husband’s hand. Very personable. We ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and a small pepperoni pizza to share. Both were very good and we can’t wait to try other items on the menu.
This is definitely one of the best places you can go to get authentic Italian food! The service is outstanding and treat us like family everytime we go. The owner (Mo) is a great guy who is very genuine . He takes great pride in his restaurant and will go above and beyond to make sure his customers are satisfied! We go every week and the staff knows our order very well. I highly recommend this place for any dinners. We had my wifes birthday dinner here with 12 people and it was beyond worth it ! The price is just right for the quality of the food!!! This is sure to fill your stomach and make everyone happy.
I’m new to Ohio and I’ve tried a few different Italian restaurants here and this one is the best! Been here 4 times and service and food were perfect all 4 times. This is our go to now for Italian dinners, pizzas, and calzones which by the way are the best and I’m picky! We decided to go here last night for my birthday dinner and it definitely did not disappoint. The owner came over and said happy birthday to me. Nice small family feel restaurant with great food and service. Oh yeah and the portion sizes are huge, I’m eating my leftovers as I write this review. The only thing I would ask them to change is, on the menu, to add descriptions of what each dish is, and what’s in it.
Saw a post a few days ago on Facebooks & decided to give it a try. We mostly only eat at independently owned restaurants & the food looked really good. Our waitress was great... wish I had got her name. The food was very good. We ordered the spinach ravioli and a pizza on her recommendation. The owner(?) Mo even came to check on us. Definitely planned to come back. UNTIL at 10:23 pm a rude man came out of the back & said we close at 10.. you must leave.. VERY rudely. We had finished our food & drinks but I was still appalled. There was another table that ordered a fresh round of drinks at 10 pm and didn’t get to even finish them. I was appalled!! Plus I honestly thought they closed at 11 because that’s what it states on FB which is where I learned about them. Needless to say we will never be back. $60 check and 30%+ tip. I’m still speechless.

Extensive menu of the usual Italian-American dishes and pizza. The food retains enough Italian authenticity and quality to be refreshingly delightful to the tastebuds. Their passata is rich with high quality tomatoes and serves as a great base for their tomato-based sauces. For a great change from pizza chain blandness, try their eggplant pizza. Prices are fairly high, but portion sizes are large. Our food was served piping hot- we had to give it 5-10 minutes to cool to comfortable temps. Decor is casual Italian - but we thot the ambiance was compromised by the wall-mounted TVs playing in the dining area. Plenty of off- street free parking. Social distancing is being observed in the DR, so come for dinner early to avoid a wait.
Walk thru the door of this restaurant and you will feel welcomed and treated like family. The food is incredible, portions are huge. We haven’t had one thing that wasn’t amazing, pizza calzones, any Italian dish you desire. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny. This food is made with love and heart. This family owned business is a very special place. If you are in the area it’s a definite stop.
This place was really an unexpected gem! Food was delicious and service attentive. The owner even checks on all tables during the meal. It wont be hard to tell what fast food restaurant formerly occupued this space, but dont let that dissuade you! Try it! I think youll be pleasantly surprised, as we were. The only negative I can think of is that the prices might be a bit high for some items, so be prepared for that. But the quality is so good, its worth it.
Seriously the best home cooked food ever!!!! Everything tastes like straight out of your mothers kitchen. Delicious recipes, and the service is incredible. Everyone is so friendly, and the owner is super involved in the kitchen and floor making sure everything is taken care of! I will always come back here!
I love this place. Me and my girl come here for dates. The same table, every time. The waitress remembers us every time (including our order). Always asks if were having the usual. Food is always top notch, delicious, and fresh. The hot wings, dude, get some. Seriously. I cant recommend this place enough.
I had the meat Lasagna. It was so so, reminded me of lasagna they served in school. My wife had the chicken Alfredo, which we both really liked. The salads that came with it also reminded me of school salads...not very big, all iceberg lettuce, 1 quarter of a sliced tomato and 1 slice of cucumber. The service was okay. The owner/ manager came around and asked each table how their meal was, which was good, if he hadnt had smelled like cigarettes, it was very off putting. Tip- just wash your hands and put sanitizer on before talking to customers.
My family went out to dinner, party of 6. Space is slightly cramped, but definitely manageable. Food was excellent. Very large portions with the spaghetti (dinner menu). You could probably split between two people. The owner was running around helping servers and cleaning tables, while also taking time to check on customers. I always appreciate that level of involvement by an owner. He clearly cares about the success of the restaurant. That kind of stuff, and the good food, makes me want to come back for sure. One thing, Im not sure if youd call it a negative, but service is a bit slow. This isnt a fast pitstop to grab food in the evening (lunch might be different). But for the good food and service while with family, waiting a little didnt bother me at all.
Jimmys was recommended by friends so we were in the area and decided to try it. The food was really good! My husband has been trying to find decent Bolognese sauce and the Spaghetti Bolognese was great! I got the Eggplant Parmesan and loved it. Huge portions. Will be coming back soon to try the pizza.
Came in having high expectations because it has good reviews. Got our app which was garlic rolls. They were not soft rolls, some parts tasted stale and others were more like a crouton. And than we received our food which was eggplant parm and regular meat sauce spaghetti. Both with very under cooked noodles. We were so disappointed my fiancé didn’t even eat. Took the parm home because that was too expensive to leave on the table. My two year old ate a few of those noodles. But definitely not coming back.
Arranged to have a group of 28 for dinner although it is not suited for large groups they did a fabulous job. The staff and owner took a personal interest in making sure our event was special. Food is as always was excellent and the cost was very reasonable. At first we contemplated going to a more established well known Italian restaurant in that immediate area, but was so happy with our choice.
Jimmys Italian is OUTSTANDING! If you love good Italian food and been to the other’s in the area and have not tried Jimmys you are missing out!Ask for Maria or any of the others she is just our favorite. Service is outstanding with little wait time.Never have we had to wait an hour to sit!Food is always hot and delicious! The owner and his team provide a personal touch to each meal.Don’t take my word you decide for yourself and all I can say is ENJOY!Happy Holidays Everyone 🌲
They sure know how to cook! My Italian grandma would have loved it. I especially loved their homemade sauce, -it tasted fresh and well balanced, not too tomato-pasty like Giovannis. Im a sauce person- I usually make my own from my garden tomatoes. Everything about my dish was amazing, from the ravioli, to the delicious sauce, to the melted cheese baked on top. I wasnt expecting this from such a small, fairly inexpensive restaurant in Kettering. Salad was good, nothing to boast about, but nice that it came free with the meal. The portion was so big, I brought it to work the next day for lunch and everyone was gushing over how great it looked & the aroma it gave. Im telling all my friends about this hidden gem!
We called the night before for a party of 20 to celebrate a birthday. They had a table set up and ready for us with 2 servers who kept our drinks coming. Very delicious, hot, fresh Italian food and great customer service made for a lovely dinner! Highly recommend Jimmys Italian Kitchen!!
The food is wonderful here! Service the last time was a little slow. Not the usual for them. We had to keep asking for things, like our silverware, refills, our check. Ill chalk it up to they had a full house. But like I said, the food is AMAZING! I had the meat lovers pizza and my sister had the lasagna.
I have had excellent meals from this place a few years back and wanted to try it out again today after a long time. The quality of the food has down drastically . The chicken and eggplant Parmesan was over saucy .The Stromboli and rolls lacking decent amount of filling and the garlic knots unappetizing. To top it all the guy in the kitchen passed a rude comment on my accent not realizing that i was away from his sight but still inside the restaurant. I think this place was better when the ladies ran it.
I love this place. The staff is friendly and fast. The food is amazing. The pricing is right in line with other Italian restaurants depending on what you order. The owner is friendly and very accommodating. The atmosphere is beautiful and modest. I will return every chance I get.
This place is incredible. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing, the service is amazing, and the price for all of the above is 💯% worth it.I ubered one of the cooks a few weeks back, and we got to talking about where he worked. After getting some history on the place, I decided to take my family here to try it out. We had been looking for a great, family owned, Italian restaurant in the Dayton area since moving from Newport News, VA.We could not have been more thrilled with what we found. The portions of food are HUGE. The prices are reasonable, considering the portion size, but be prepared to spend a little bit (2 dinner meals + bread sticks + 2 drinks = $55 after tax, before tip). However, considering that my meal alone was enough for 2 rounds (and Im not a small guy by any means), Im happy with paying roughly $11/meal for 2 nights worth! My only critique is that the high chair we were given for our 1yr old had a strap missing on it. This allowed her to get up and move around considerably while my wife and I were eating. The strap is an essential safety mechanism, and should be properly maintained for the childs safety (and parents peace of mind). Also, not so much a critique as much a wow factor:. Their cannolis are $5/ea, and about 6 long. Thats stupidly over priced. 2 Cannolis at Mama Di Salvos are $6, and are roughly the same size, if not bigger. Jimmys needs to consider being more competitive in this.Otherwise this place is fantastic. Highly recommend going for anyone who enjoys homemade Italian food!
Great overall value for the money. Food was good, especially the entrees. Not a quick place to eat, but there was food on the table quickly and it kept coming in waves. The table next to us complained, but I think they expected starters, salad, soup, and entrees all out at once.Very happy and will return again. BTW, the owner checked on us more than once and was friendly and asking if/how he could help.
The food was excellent and the owner was extremely friendly and came out to our party to personally ensure that we were having a good time and comfortable. The waitress was very helpful and made sure that we were taken care of in a timely and efficient manner. Everyone in our group had nothing but compliments to give about the taste of the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others.
Came here once a few months ago, the food was good, but the server forgot about us. Tried again on Valentine’s Day (rookie mistake, right?) We got there at six pm. They told us 20-25 minutes. About ten families that came in after us (and they didn’t call ahead) went in before us. We walked out at 7 with the manager saying “sorry about your luck” and saying it would be another 25 minute wait. I do understand it’s Valentine’s Day, but we also got there early and was told 20 minutes. Then everyone went ahead of us. Terrible customer service.
Like it. To be honest at first I was a bit of sticker shock on the prices. But after we ordered I was so impressed. Portions were huge. Flavors were on point. Staff was just ok but the food will have me going back to try more of the menu. Its actually a good value for what you get
Today my company allowed us to order pizza for lunch. Me and my co workers decided to order from a local small business instead of a chain like Papa Johns etc. So we chose Jimmys Italian Kitchen.... let me just say.... it was flipping AMAZING. First time getting their pizza and it was soooooo good! Highly recommend 😋
Had lunch today there for the first time. The aroma that met me at the door told me it was going to be great. I had the baked Ziti with meat sauce. Surprised it came with a small bowl of soup. Today was chicken and rice. Very tasty. The salad was A fresh crispy lettuce with some sliced black olives, a couple tomato slices and red onion pieces with the house made Italian dressing. The dressing was snappy enough to elevate the salad to something better. The baked ziti came with two homemade garlic rolls. The portion was plenty and ended up taking half home for dinner later. Over all a very satisfying dish. My husband had the eggplant specialty stuffed with cheese, mushrooms, spinach and fresh garlic. A meatless dish that was packed with flavor. The server was attentive and friendly. Will definitely return to try some dinner offerings.
We got there lunch special. I got the lasagna and garlic bread. It wasnt that great. My fiance got the grilled chicken salad. It wasnt great. There prices are to high. $9.99 for the lunch price is ridiculous. We have had better chicken salads. I cant believe we got charged for croutons. That is ridiculous. We wont be back.
We ordered on the phone from their menu on line for a few different coworkers. When my coworker (very sweet girl) picked up the food the manager waited on her and was very rude when she questioned the price difference from the online menu, she paid the difference. Some of the meals were double in price to what the menu shows. Two other coworkers called to complain and they were talked to very rude and were hung up on. I would not recommend supporting a business that treats customers this way. We will never order from there again
Food is delicious and fresh every time we visit. Jimmys Italian Kitchen is by far the best italian restaurant in town! My fiance and I absolutely love their food!!!! We always leave with full stomachs and are always wanting to return! The owner has always been extremely kind and makes his way to every table to ensure that all have received good food and good service.
This place deserves more praise. The sauce is incredible, and the house Italian dressing is solid. I had the stuffed eggplant and it was cooked to perfection. Tbh, I wouldnt order the tiramisu again, and the texture of the spaghetti is average. Overall a 5-star experience. Cant wait to go back!
We went there on New Years Eve. In spite of being busy, we were seated quickly. The food was delicious. We started with perogies that melted in our mouths. The lasagna was scrumptious and I make a good homemade lasagna. All our meals were great. The kids had a good selection too. We all enjoyed the rolls. Salad was basic, but the house dressing was really good. As a treat for New Years, we were given cannolis, and boy were they good! We had lots of leftovers. Our waitress was friendly and attentive in spite of how busy she was. We would definitely go back!
This place was fantastic quick-service great wine and the portions they give you are enormous. I eat a bit and usually dont go home with a doggy bag here I kind of had to twenty bucks got me enough food that it could have fed two people. The servers are also really nice and have good recommendations.
Pulling up you know there will be no atmosphere, I mean it is in old Taco Bell, but I love a good dive with great food, so who cares about venue. However, the setting was the least of its problems. Our server clearly just wanted to turn and burn us out of there as she asked to take our order about every 45 seconds, even though we told her that wed never been there before and needed to review the menu. The 8th time she asked in a 10 minute span I just laughed and said just choose whatever. The salads came first: iceberg lettuce with a quarter size slice of tomato and one black olive sliced in 8th, the house dress was just oil, no flavor. None of us ate very much of our plate of lettuce. We ordered 4 very separate items to get a feel for the place, Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Parm, Chicken Marsala and the Gnocchi. We spent the rest of the evening trying to figure our which of the dishes tasted worst. We all ate one Gnocchi a piece and the rest went untouched, just awful, tasted like paste. So, I suppose the Gnocchi was the winner for the most awful. The Marsala tasted like they boiled the chicken, mushrooms, and linguine in one pot, added no spices or flavoring and threw it on a plate. The Marinara sauce tasted more flavorless than Ragu from a can and was a watered down version of that even. I dont know how they managed to take cream and cheese and remove all flavor from it, but they managed, as the Alfredo tasted like nothing, literally nothing. No flavor outside of plain pasta with nothing on it. The chicken parm was the most edible of the dishes, but the breading was soggy and again not much flavor to be found. The bread was beyond boring, no flavor there either. When they served the meals they asked if we wanted parm cheese, upon request they dropped of a dated glass dispenser of powdered parm they stole from a 1987 Chuck E. Cheese restaurant. The waitress seemed a little surprised when we said we didnt want boxes for our barely touched food, but never inquired further as to our clear dislike of our meals. For this experience I am out $100. I would have complained but I dont think that we got a bad batch I just think they dont know how to cook. So, how would they have fixed it. Should have stayed home and eaten a can of Campbells soup, at least that would have had some flavor to it. Their cook should be charged with high crimes against food!
Extremely pleased with the value and heartiness of their pasta dishes. Order came with small soup, salad and 2 delicious garlic cheese rolls that were not greasy. The lasagne was enough for 2 adults and perfect for these cold winters. Amber is friendly.Lack of 5 stars is due to the offensively overpriced soda gouging. $3 + $1 per refill. Ill just order water next time.
Excellent Carry-Out last night for our daughters birthday. The Lasagna, Meatballs, Italian Sausage with salad and garlic bread were all spectacular. Had the leftovers for dinner tonight and sorry its gone. Well be calling Jimmys real soon again for another Italian Feast.
Ive been patronizing Jimmys since it first opened and they have never failed to provide delicious food and friendly, efficient service. The house dressing (an Italian dressing of course!) is so good, full of spices and herbs; the complimentary soups hot and tasty and the entrees are delicious!
This should be a 3 1/2 star review. We had dinner there last night; there was a wait, which was fine. The estimate on wait time was spot on, which I appreciated. It took some time to get drinks and to get our order in, but I understood they were busy. The house salad and house dressing were good - a bit plain (one slice of tomato; some black olives), but fresh and tasty. The warm rolls with your entree come out with the actual dish, which seems odd to me. Many Italian restaurants serve a basket of bread before the meal. Odd, but not terrible. The rolls werent very good; they seemed dry, maybe old? If theyre made in-house, I am surprised. The highlight was the baked manicotti, which was delicious. I finished it. But the server was definitely not a highlight. He was polite, but didnt seem engaged. He put a go box on our table even though a. I had finished everything on my plate, and b. my husband was clearly still eating (and also finished everything). We sat there for a while after having finished our meal. No refills on our water glasses. No question about whether we would like another beer. No question about whether we would like dessert. Eventually, the young man placed the check down in front of us. At this point, there were empty tables, so if you think that perhaps it was just to keep the tables moving, that couldnt be it. My husband asked him about desserts, and we actually ordered two. I really didnt want to, but my husband loves tiramisu. I had cannoli. No question about whether we would like coffee with dessert. Again, this is all really strange for an Italian restaurant. The cannoli was ok, but not great. I think the owner was there; he went to two tables and seemed to ask how things were. Other reviews point out the good food and poor service. I concur with these reviews this. I really enjoyed the baked manicotti, but think the owner needs to address service-issues, which are probably related to understaffing or poor training? The woman who took names and seated us was pleasant and I appreciated that she was honest with the time estimate on the wait. However, I would have appreciated better service from our waiter.
Omg delish!!!!! this little place looks like it used to be a taco bell.. its small and service was EXCELLENT.i tried the soup .. it was just ok. i got the stuffed shells with the garlic buttered bread. my mom and husband both got the trio ... we all loved it. came out HOT. THe plate was piping hot even after we ate. service was great.
Such a wonderful and small Italian restaurant. Their pizza is the closest to New York style pizza I have tried in Dayton (granted I have not been to EVERY pizza place but quite alot). They give a lot of food and it is not light, but so good. Their perogies and fried ravioli are the best!!!
Welcome to Jimmys Italian Restaurant...where the NEW owner simply refuses to assist a customer if they are unhappy with their meal.Today our family spent $70 for an appalling dinner experience. One of our party members did not like the taste of their meal and raised the issue with his waitress. The kind waitress returned the dish to the kitchen...and then we were introduced to the owner. The angry owner held the returned dish in front of our party. She said the customer had ordered the item and there was nothing she would do. No apology, no offering to change the dish or remove the item from the bill. She said we will be paying for it and she would box it up so the dissatisfied customer could eat it later! The owner was extremely confrontational with our entire party. Moreover, she stormed off from the table making comments about our party in front of other patrons and the staff. In sum, the owner was impolite, hateful and unwilling to provide any level of proper customer service. As a result of the owners attitude, the entire party lost their appetites, and the evening was ruined. It is important to note our waitress was polite and apologetic throughout the ordeal. It is disgusting for a server to apologize for the owners behavior and lack of social skills.THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT JIMMYS ITALIAN KITCHEN1. Jimmy is no longer the owner. The restaurant changed ownership a few months ago.2. This is not an Italian Kitchen. Italians take great pride in their food with exceptional courtesy and treatment of their customers. This NEW owner does not possess any of these qualities!3. Expect to eat and pay for your meal -- even if you do not like it. Dont think about asking the owner for help.4. This restaurant is located in an old Taco Bell building. It would be best for the community that Jimmys close and reopen a Taco Bell. At least Taco Bell would provide better customer service and treatment over a $1 burrito than a costly $20 dish.
I love eating at this restaurant! The staff is the best part about it, they enjoy belonging customers and the food is always amazing! (With massive portions)I love coming here to eat at a restaurant that makes me feel just as comfortable as if I never left home, but the food is a lot better than at home haha!
I love this place! The service is not so good seems they are understaffed and when we are there its not even super busy. Found hair in my food 2 times which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 but the food isssss so very good better than any other Italian place when there isnt hair in it!
Well thanks for totally ruining the rest of my life. I will never be able to go to another Italian restaurant without wishing I was eating here. I will never again be able to make my family Italian without them knowing in their hearts and tastebuds that it doesn’t even get one star compared to what they have just experienced here tonight . Seriously amazing service and incredible food !
Im not sure how this restaurant is getting such good reviews. My wife and I came here for lunch after reading the reviews from Google/Yelp and were VERY DISAPPOINTED! Ill break it down for you.ATMOSPHERE: Thought it was a Mexican restaurant because of the style. Nothing was clean. The plastic on the seats were ripping, the floor was bulging up (ever see a sidewalk being pushed up by a tree root? Yeah. . .), the air was on so high that my napkin kept flying away, music was hip-hop instead of something to create a better Italian setting, kitchen staff talk could be heard, wall and table containers (salt, pepper, parmesan) were sticky. 0/5 Stars.WAITER/TRESS: Came by our table four times. 1) Take our order. 2) Deliver appetizers. 3) Deliver main course. 4) Check, please. --Not once did we get refills or a pass by to make sure our food was good. Oh, lets talk about that! Food. 0/5 StarsFOOD: Gag. I dont have extremely high standards, but this was the WORST Italian kitchen experience Ive ever set foot in.--APPETIZERS: My wife and I received a soup (chicken vegetable, I think). Her soup was water with celery and one carrot. My soup was chicken and potato, with water. I had to load my soup with pepper and salt just to get some taste, it was that bland. But I was still hopeful that the main course would be better. . . yikes!--MAIN DISH: My wife ordered stuffed shells, a fond memory of my childhood, and I ordered cheese ravioli, yum. Well, yum was only a distant dream because it was not. We had more cheese and marinara sauce than actual food on our dish. I received three (3) ravioli, and she received two (2) shells. Should have spent $4 more and went to Olive Garden--even though theyre not authentic Italian--and gotten more food and better taste. My dish had a burnt taste to it. I ended up scraping all my sauce and cheese off just to get to my three ravioli. Both my stuffing and hers were dry and just, well, gross.--ROLLS: They looked so good in the pictures and people who reviewed said they were delicious. Ours were stale, dry, the butter was oil, and the garlic was--ahem--nonexistent.For the first time--ever I think--my wife finished before me. I was forcing myself to finish as we dont have much money to spend and I felt terrible wasting it (and too mad to complain).OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Well never set foot in there again. My wife actually sent a mass text out to all her friends and family to stay away from this restaurant. A few even said they agreed due to a previous visit. So this is my review. Its only my opinion, but our experience was so bad that we had to post these issues we had.
It used to be excellent but now another has changed and the food wasnt very good eitherI had the chicken parm and it was barely warm and it had a different taste than usual i only ate about 3 bites and couldnt eat anymore of it my woman got the lasagna and she said it was barely warm but I will give it another shot
1st and last time I will visit this location. Went on a weekend when it was not busy during lunch time. Staff (man behind the counter) was upset that I asked for a to go order and didnt like the questions about the meal Ive received. Waitress was sweet and explained they didnt do to- go lunch orders. I received a box lid as my bag and paid $15. Roll and salad dressing was fine.Trio pasta was ok but oversauce. Couldve went to piada and got friendly service & fresher food
First I want to say I thought food was delicious and of good quality! with that said, I only give 3 stars, for two reasons. One I think the prices are to high. Second had very poor service. It was not all the server fault. It appear the sever had entire restaurant to wait on. I feel for the prices they ask for I should gotten better service. Lastly I will go back again.
Will not go back! Food was ok, a little pricey! Water was dripping on us during our dinner from their air conditioning, when we pointed it out to our waiter all he wanted to do was wipe up the water, no suggestion of changing to another table , or removing the rag they had up there to try to stop the leak. I asked for a manager, he finally suggested we change tables , which we moved our own food. They seemed unconcerned about this! One small sorry! Most other places would have apologizedOver and over again or offered a small discount or a free dessert!
My husband and I went into there to see just how good it was. we went in and was seated. we got our drink order placed and brought to the table and we were looking over the menu and she asked if we were ready and we said we were still looking. well I guess we should have ordered then because she never came back. she gave soup to another table took the order of another table, boxed another tables leftovers and brought them dessert, gave another table salads and refills and still never came to our table didnt say she would be with us in a min. nothing.so we sat at the table for a good 20 min and decided to go home and cook. never go there again.
Visited with family. The spoons, forks and plates on which they serve food were not properly clean. The service was too slow and the food quality was also not good. The hospitality was absent. The staff needs vigorous training in hospitality. The staff boys seemed uninterested in the guests. Moreover, the restaurant entrance looked shabby. A customer will never visit again.

2022-08-19Jimmys Kitchen is a must! The food is amazing and the Staff was great. We had a party of 35 people, everyone of us was blown away on how good it was. I had the chicken marsala, ravioli, and cheese bite app. It was so good

2022-04-09The chicken carbonara with Alfredo sauce was decent. It lacked a flavor profile though so I was a little disappointed. The portion size was pretty big and there were copious amounts of mushrooms and bacon. The chicken portion size was good as well. It was smothered in Alfredo sauce but it just lacked the punch on the palette you would expect. Most Italian restaurants offer a starter of fresh bread with marinara, butter, or oil. Jimmy’s doesn’t offer this—no bread spread here. That was a bit disappointing as well. You do get 2 pieces of bread with your meal but that just isn’t the same.Supply chain disruptions have added to the cost of many things but this was a little pricey for what you get/don’t get.Not a bad place and the food is decent. You will leave full in the stomach yet a little lighter in the pocketbook. Give Jimmy’s a try and judge for yourself. For me, Jimmy’s gets a mid-table 3 star rating.

2021-11-04The New York rolls are the best I have had outside of NYC itself. And everything at Jimmys is tasty, the pasta, the pizza, its all top notch. Owner regularly checks in with the patrons at the tables and he really makes you feel like a regular.Pictured: Jimmys meatball NY Roll with marinara. Get your own roll, you wont want to share.

2022-07-01I so want to give a big shout out to this authentic Italian restaurant. All the staff is great. If your eating in the restaurant or getting a takeout, make sure you take care of the staff with your tip please. Believe me, they will take care of you especially if you are getting a takeout. The girl that took my order, made my salad perfectly, and our meals were to die for. We had stuffed shells and meat lasagna!!! Thank you so much for everyone who was involved in making our dinner wonderful!!!

2022-08-14I generally try not to leave bad reviews because I know there’s a lot that goes into the experience, but this was genuinely disappointing especially with the expectations I had. First of all I can tell the bread sticks I had were deep fried, and that is WILD to me. An oven is generally acceptable for baking bread? It had to be frozen. I had a Cesar as well and they put no croutons on it but there were crouton crumbs…? Felt like an odd choice. It wasn’t the worse thing ever but I would have liked full croutons better. The entree was where it went BAD. My spaghetti was fine, no real complaints minus obviously the sauce was not made in house, but my partner got lasagna that was OBVIOUSLY microwaved. Not even sure there was cheese in it??? I just think if you’re claiming to be authentic it shouldn’t be so obviously not made in house. Fiancé called it the worst meal he’s had all year. I will say, the staff was wonderful so I don’t blame them. The food is just what you get in the freezer section is the problem, so they really shouldn’t charge as much as they do for it. Be authentic!

2022-07-15This place has the best Stromboli. If you dont know what that is then you need to eat at Jimmys ASAP.Also, their marinara sauce is so delicious. When they take your drink order just ask for marinara sauce. You wont be disappointed.Ive eaten most of what is on the menu. There are things I like better than others but there is nothing I dont like.
