Ive been coming here for years for my clothes shopping. They always have great selections in what I need to buy, and they always have my size. The cashiers and sales reps always friendly and helpful, though lately they seem to be slacking a bit. I dont know if its new hires learning the ropes and getting comfortable with their role, or employees being extra busy and distracted. When you buy clothes, make sure the cashier removes the security tag! It seems so easily overlooked by both customer and employee and more so these days. This was never a problem for me in previous years and lately those security tags get ignored. Be nice but firm. Otherwise, great selection of clothes!!
We had an absolute horrible experience with the woman working the counter in jewelry. Very unpleasant, spoke to is in a manner that was ignorant and belittling.Did not go above and beyond to make the customer happy. Purchased a wedding ring set in September and brought it back to get sized. She could not find the protection plan in the system. Which I understand things happen but we were not the problem. Walked away very dissatisfied and angry at how she handle this situation. Needless to say I was unable to get my ring sized and will never purchase jewelry from JC Penny again.
This is a nice organized store. The staff were friendly and professional. However, I came to get Stafford mens pocket t-shirts and they only had a small table with mostly size small shirts available. Stafford t-shirts are very well made and the only mens t-shirt that offers a pocket. I will not be shopping at JCPENNEY if Stafford mens t-shirts wont be available. Very disappointed 👎
This place was a mess. I went to buy shoes. I could find ones one the top shelves but nothing under them match. Two shelfs were not off and the boxes were all toppled over. Nobody to help, when I did find someone they told me that they were online!if I wanted to shop online I would not have went to the store! Their loss because I would have gotten more had I found shoes. Will not go again!
Employees are nice enough, sadly the mens section and especially the mens shoe section is anemic at best, and near non existent at worst. Sometimes the atmosphere of the store itself gives off a dingy feeling, kind of like a K-Mart in 2009. The womens section is nice though. Sometimes it is hard to find a worker to assist you, but once you find them they are kind an will help you out the whole way.
I know this chain has been struggling financially, even before the pandemic. But, I feel that they are doing everything they can to be covid conscious. I like certain brands that only they carry. The prices are reasonable. There are always good sales. And there is a decent selection. If something is not there in the store, it is easy to order online and pick up at the store for free.
I love the clothes I get there. Only problem is I wont try anything on because the fitting rooms are dirty. Seems every time I go there it looks like the floors are dirty, and I dont look for anything else because I wouldnt go back. Ive seen associates stand a talk but no one cleans.
For mens suits, they fit a little funny, being a more fit guy. They do have custom tailoring, but unless they are really on sale, you probably would go over the price of an express jacket/ suit which is pretty hard to beat- fit and quality wise.For regular t shirts and shorts, they have great prices considering the medium normal quality clothing.
Jc penney is one of my favorites I can say that even today but I am badly disappointed by the way they are maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness lately it is pathetic.... the top floor mens fitting room was so full of dust that both me and my husband had this allergic cough going on for 2 whole days so much so that we got Covid tested.... our daughter also had cough.... so very dirty its like no human has been visiting that section.... and then I observed that not only that place even the carpet and desks were dirty and so were the corners.... come on jc penney you can do much better... u dont need this
Overall a great store. The management team is amazing. Very helpful, go out of their way to make things right. Some of the cashiers however are not so great. They really get irritated with returns. Even if you do have a receipt. And coupons as well. Its like if your not just buying something and leaving as quick as you can you are inconveniencing them when thats their job! I have had to go over a couple cashiers heads and ask for management when I shouldnt have to. I have been a long time shopper of penneys. I love their selection, deals and brands but I think their employees need some work. As someone who has worked and managed in retail I would not put up with some of their behavior.
I was doing some Black Friday shopping here a few months back with my grandmother. She is 92 years young and loves to look at literally everything on the racks. I was heading over to the shoes when I turned around and noticed my sweet grandma wasnt there. I frantically started to search around for her, but it was very difficuly in the crowded store. I started asking nearby shoppers if they had seen her and someone told me they saw someone that looked like her go into the fitting rooms. I cautiously went in and went to the handicapped room. I tried to open it and it was locked, so I looked under the crack and there was no one in there. I thought this was extremely suspicious, so I crawled under the door only to find a trapdoor propped open by a clothes hanger. Feeling like Indiana Jones, I went into the tunnel using my phone flashlight to guide my path. After about 50 yards of walking, I found some natural light and went to it. There was an airvent at the floor hanging open, so I stood over it and looked down. Right under the vent, my grandmother stands looking at the back wall of Spencers. I was horrified, shell shocked, absoultely repulsed, so right at that moment I jumped down from the vent and landed on top of my grandmother and wrapped something around her eyes. In a hurry, I ran her out of Spencers and sat her down on a nearby chair. I unwrapped the beer bong I used to shield her eyes and she looked at me in a daze. I said to her, Listen grandma, you cant run away like that, and especially not there. She was understanding and we promptly went home.
Awesome experience at the Fine Jewelry Department. The Customer Service Sales Associate James M. Gave Outstanding Service very Similar to what you would expect in a Fine Jewelry Store for example as one located in Beverly Hills, California on Rodeo drive. Very Professional Service with that added Excellent Customer Service. Five Stars to James andJC Pennys Strongsville mall.
Sadly I see why it is dying as a chain. Employees chatting amongst themselves. One looked in my cart as I was walking past and looked me up and down like I was stealing. That is when I stopped shopping. All I had was 60.00 in merchandise. Was looking for 4 pairs of work pants, gloves and a coat. Thats cool I got them elsewhere.
I almost never visit these types of stores but in this case I went with my GF. Clean store and nice merchandise but by comparison,overpriced. I suppose thats understandable considering the high overhead they are most likely paying. Certainly will not be going back anytime soon.
Jcp has a great selection & sales on bath towels. I buy all my towels there. They are soft & fluffy & are very reasonably priced. They have a huge assortment of colors too. I also bought some complete bedding sets there, which include dust ruffle, comforter, pillow shams & decorative pillows for a low price. They have a great selection of bedding. I also shop for clothes there too & got a nice pair of tennis shoes there this year too.
Always have success here with my hard to fit Grandkids. Grandson loves the slim jeans with the extra flex and they fit well. Not too tight. Granddaughter almost always finds cute juniors clothes. Whatever we are looking for, jeans, tops, or dresses, we generally find just the right thing here.
I love shopping at Jcpenney and am a regular customer, but I was completely taken a back by how I was treated today. I was at the Strongsville, Ohio location. A cashier named KB checked me out. From the beginning when I first walked up to the check out desk she showed extreme irritation at me. She raised her voice at me when I asked if the item I was purchasing qualifies for the buy one get one deal and rolled her eyes. Her tone through the whole transaction was aggressive, angry and she talked down to me. I didn’t feel like a customer and was treated like I was wasting her time. I have never experienced such poor customer service.
Maria did my hair and she was so nice and made me feel so much better when I was having a bad day. I got some red highlights in my hair, cut and style but Im kid of disappointed in the color because you cant see much at all. Maybe I should have done a blonde but who knows! Maria was great though and Id definitely go again even if its just for the best hair wash Ive ever had by a hairdresser!
Well I drove all the way there from Oberlin basically for my favorite food from Asian cuisine upon arriving everything in the mall was closed apparently due to weather conditions. I had limited time to shop so I grabbed a doll at JCPENNEY that was marked down to 6.99. I get to register and hes like 10 something Im like no the sticker says 6.99, he said you put this on there I said sir there like 20 more back there with the same sticker. The manager came and shes like its 6.99 I just bought some for my daughter. He looks at me and says 10 something please Im like dude are you serious right now? She said 6.99 also then he asks her and shes like yes its 6.99. then with an attitude hes like just swipe your card. I was livid, god damn foreigners. If you cant understand your job get a damn different one. Telling me I put that tag on there. I wont ever shop at JCPENNEY again unless I get a full apology for the way I was treated.
Very helpful employee! Bathrooms need an emergency update! Again...Visited the restrooms, forgetting that they are basically falling apart. No soap...dispensers are broken, hand towel dispensers broken too. Its actually pretty ghetto. Sry for any misspellings Im doing this quickly w my phone. 2 stars based on the bathroom. The bathrooms are just as important as the entrance to the store. Why dont Managers understand this? I dont want to use a bathroom that looks like it belongs in the Metro Parks when Im at South Park Mall.....😒
Perhaps your AM employees should be trained in empathy and respect for others, because I was RUDELY denied a PLASTIC BAG to carry my food from the food court in. Is it really JCPenney policy to not be able to give a grocery style bag to a customer? Do the bags come out of your employees paychecks? My boyfriend and I were shopping for hats and was still denied a bag, so we left. The old women working was on the top floor across from the food court.
Ordered 2 items online to be shipped to the store, first item was cancelled in the first day. The other item was “in transit to the store” for over 2 weeks before it, too, was cancelled. But! Even though it was cancelled I did not automatically revive a refund. After calling the very unhelpful customer service for JCPennys, I was told I needed to call the store to get the refund. It took over 10 minutes to even SPEAK to anybody, and then an additional 5 minutes of being placed on hold because they didn’t know what they were doing before they referred my back to the customer service number. Who told me again that they couldn’t do anything and that I had to go to the actual store to get back the money. Huge wast of time and a horrible experience.
I love this store, JC Penney, at Southpark, Strongsville. Always has what Im looking for at an unbeatable price, once the coupons are deducted. I bought a cute shirt for me and two adorable Mickey mouse t-shirts and short sets for my grandson, for the grand total of $31!
Left a voicemail for the manager never got a response. Rude and inexperienced employees. If you know someone is new why leave the to do transactions by themselves? Floor manager says Im sorry I know she admitted to giving you wrong information but shes new and theres nothing I can do about it. Also AA Male with baseball cap and sweats, always hanging in jewelry will follow you around the entire store when he could be catching an actual thief (Fyi for a regular shopper hes extremely obvious and should switch it up)
Omg Im not kidding when I tell you this I am 57 years old and I found my true artist/ beautician. She is great. My hair has looked this good in a long time. Thanks s southpark mall jcpenney and Vira. You can go to her but you cant have her shes part time mon and Friday
Horrible experience 2 times with same lady different times.her name is Ann she is older lady on upstairs in home goods area at strongsville .2 monthes ago when I was there she was so rude to me for some reason and I thought she might having a bad day,but Again today when I was there I went to pick up my online order and when I checked they give me someone else stuff luckily I checked there and when I went back to return on register she was there and she was so rude and told me she can’t put back and even didn’t look at me ...so she doesn’t want to do it.so there was another lady she said no you can and she did it.so that Ann women is just rude all the time.if she doesn’t know how to work with customer service she should not be working..or learn how to treat other people .
Every cashier/customer service counter had 1 person.. and i stood in line upstairs behind 1 other customer amd the employee asked for help several times.. knowing what she was dealing with was going to take awhile.. i thanked her and went downstairs.. there i stood (after 10 min in previous line) 20 additional min. this employee also called for help.. with no response.. nothing these ladies coulds do.. finally someone responded on the walky that send some to jewlry counter.. so sadly i went and took my frustration out on these ladies at this dept... that beong said.. they didnt offer any suggestions or unserstanding.. so unfortunately i will not be back.. i live near the Canton Penneys... and have never received such poor customer service..
I received a haircut from Ulin on 11/26/19. Ulin is a stylist at Jcpenny’s salon Southpark mall, Strongsville, Ohio. The haircut and Ulin’s customer service were amazing. Ulin’s skill, attention to detail, and enthusiasm were top notch. I am 52 years old and Ulin has giving me the best haircuts ever. I am serious, you should get your next haircut from Ulin. Jcpennys Strongsville Ohio Southpark mall is fortunate to have her working in their salon. She demonstrates a superior work ethic.

2022-06-02I always have great service here. Additionally, It is extremely rare that I do not locate the item I am looking for. If I am unable to locate something the associates are always there to assist me. They are never snotty and seem to be happy to show you.

2022-07-28Rude customers. Saw more than one customer harass employees. Saw one of the same employees being yelled at by another employee. Floors were dirty and displays were unkempt. Merchandise strewn about the store. Light fixtures not working with lights blinking randomly. Water stains in the ceiling. I feel bad for anyone who has to work here. God help them.

2022-01-15At first was just passing through to get to bath and body works. But I saw they had bras on clearance! For 50 to 80% off I believe I got 2 bras 1 for $7.79 ( 39.00 org. ) and 1 for 9.99 ( 40.00 org. ) and panties for $2.87 ( 11.50 org. ) i was in definite need since my clasp on my bra from Victoria Secret broke off COMPLETELY! I was so happy because I got to TRY THEM ON!!! Thank you jcpenny! And I had wonderful lady help me she was so friendly. It was very clean inside. Not too busy. Jc penny saved my day! My total was $22.30! With tax saving me 69.85

2021-07-23Went to the portrait studio for our annual family pictures, and the young lady who took care of us was EXCELLENT! There were 8 of us in total with 2 of the kids being under 5, and she was very patient and understanding.
