Iron Skillet in other cities:
It was horrible. Are food came out cold sent it back to be remade but In stead they put it in the microwave and are steaks are now hard an not eatable..This is the second time in a month that the food sucked. The first time was breakfast an got sick for 24 hrs.We will not stop at this truck stop again we will go to Hubbard and eat an shower there on are way thru town.
The only good thing about this place was the food. The waitress (Kimberly F) was slow and i mean slow. Took her almost 10 minutes just to take our drink order. She waited until we were done eating to ask if we needed drink refills. She was so busy talking to the cook to wait in her customers. We had to wait another 15 minutes just for her to take out payment. Iron Skillet is great just not this one.
Ordered the elk burger and bison burger. They were not bad but waitress didnt ask what we wanted on it or anything and just walked away. Then switched our orders didnt relise till after we bit in. Got lemonade and mine was just clear water and other was foggy. Had to tell her. Forgot to fill up my drink the whole time after another waitress finally did. Then at the end she asked if we wanted boxes we said no thanks then just took our plates, she didnt ask and we werent even finished...... dont expect good service, the food is better than fast food but only slightly
Portion sizes have drastically shrunk. Very bad service. Sweet tea tasted like nothing more than sugar water weight food coloring. Very sad. I remember when this place opened. I used to love it. Recently I have had a few bad experiences here as the place slid down hill. But this was the last straw. I wont be back.
Just one of the best Petros iron skillets that I know of in the country man big huge I mean its like stepping back in time when they first opened up a lot of amenities you know games pool tables a theater I mean you know awesome showers very clean great food beautiful personnel everybodys very personable and happy keep it up Petro dont ever dont ever change this particular spot
Food was good. Small buffet. The waitress brought our check before we finished our salads then started checking for a payment about every 15 seconds. Finally paid it before the main dish. We both would have liked dessert but didnt want to use the card again. Left a 5 percent tip.
Delicious, as usual!! We decided at the last minute to go get Easter brunch. We didnt think it was going to be so packed. The buffet bowls were always full, and the waitress was so friendly and she was there with a drink refill before we even took the last sip. We dont go enough, its always so good and a great price.
What a hidden gem! The facility was extremely clean. They had a hot bbq buffet bar and a tantalizing soup and salad bar. All of the salad bar items are cut and made daily. There is a wide variety to choose from on the menu. There is an all you can eat fish Fry for Lent every day and a seafood wrap. Desserts were homemade and excellent. Our server was phenomenal. Check it out for yourself. Were definitely going back
Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our family during our visit to the Iron Skillet in Girard, OH. You and your staff were so very accommodating and informed about our special dietary needs. The food here is always delicious! My son had a wonderful time and liked that he could order special food and the cooks would make it so he could eat it. If you wouldn’t mind telling me how you prepared the fish, I would very much like to try making some for him at home, since he enjoyed it so much. He even asked if we could stay until his birthday in May. What a thoughtful gesture for management ( I never remember her name, but she always talks to us!) to come out and ask us how our dining was. It was delicious. So so Delicious!Once again THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything! We had a lunch out with the family and you and your staff helped to make it that way! We will be back again and again! Thanks again for all your hard work and consideration,Amanda L.
We showed up around 10:45pm, they we dead except for 2 other tables. Salad bar and buffet were not available...so we ordered burgers. Small, dry, not very good.Tater tots were okay.Waitress was nice, but then 2 larger groups came in and she didnt refill our drinks. Not someplace that I would encourage anyone to eat at late. Should have gone to Perkins, we really miss Dennys in Austintown, we hope that they reopen soon.
Please save yourself you time and money, waited an hour for pancakes, PANCAKES. Even the stranger next to me asked if I was gonna take a nap after that one. Pricey for the bad food. The server was nice and the salad bar looked nice and was tasty along with the mashed potatoes. The steak was terrible, burnt extremely over done. I will not be returning, ever.
If you could rate it a negative I certainly would. There was absolutely nothing good about this visit. Everything on the buffet was cold...it took almost a half an hr to get waited on. It took another half hr to get eggs that were raw and cold hash browns. When another order was put in to make up for the awful buffet...after 30 more minutes of waiting we ended up just leaving. We were told that the cook didnt know what he was doing....right there means if your co-workers know you cant handle things then you need to find a new job. If you cant stand the heat...get out of the kitchen. Dont know if Ill ever go back...........went back this past weekend June 23. Wanted to give it one more try....I must say my experience this time was amazing. Our waitress was there the minute we sat down and our food was prepared perfectly and in a timely manner. I understand that nobodys perfect and some errors were made last time but I can honestly say that things were completely different this time. I wont retract what I said back in March but it definitely improved greatly.
Depends on the cook...the female cook was phenomenal, almost feel like shes wasting her talents at a truckstop....the last time we went in there was a young black guy working and it definitely wasnt worth the money! He forgot out toast and bisquets, our food was done at different times, so one of our orders sat in the window until the other order was done...taste wise, it just wasnt up to par....he should be busing tables instead of playing chef! It wouldve been a 5 star if it was just the female cook!
Great service. I had eggs with white toast with jelly and 2 sausages. Decaf coffee. My husband meat lovers omelet...lots of bacon, sausage and ham with rye toast and coffee. Both were served with hashbrowns. They also had elk and Buffalo meals among other offerings. Clean. Nice store. Clean restrooms. A place to get a haircut for truckers etc. Enjoyed. Its a truck stop.
It is to expensive for the food quality. There is not a lot to choose from, so I would not recommend the buffet. The food is very bland or burnt. Service was pretty awful, we had to ask for refills. Also while we were sitting there they refused a little old man some gravy for his mashed potatoes without charging more. All around it was a pretty bad experience.
Lots of people would thumb their nose at eating at a Truck Stop. Those people are missing out on some excellent food. If I were to choose between eating at Iron Skillet or Dennys, Perkins, or a Bob Evans I would choose Iron Skillet 10 out of ten times. The buffet is great. Get a steal and baked potato and its solid. The pancakes rival Cracker Barrel pancakes as the best in the biz. If you think you are too good to eat at a truck stop then maybe you will have a better time eating some frozen microwaved food at Olive Garden while pretending you are better than someone who is eating a superior meal at a place like this. Don’t be weak. Eat here asap!
The skillet present a great value. Large portions and great quality at an agreeable price. The Cowboy Sirloin and the king of the road chicken fried steak are legendary in the area. Especially as a preventative to hangover after a night on the town. Dinner and breakfast buffet are also better than average Buffett fair.
Best buffet aroundIt is always fresh and the selection is fantastic.I come here once a week and have been for years. They have a new salad bar and a new buffet.Service is great and the servers have been putting up with me for 20 years. Same old workers are here and that’s why I come.
Nice people, but to the cook my steak was well done.... you over cooked it.😭 medium half way cooked means pink in the middle, a rule for steak is when you pull it off the grill its still cooking because its hot and then it sits in a heated window. So for medium pull it at a little over mid rare🤔 think. you can cook it more, but you cant uncook it, That poor cow what a waste, 😉
STAY AWAY FROM THE FRUIT! Had the breakfast buffet. The blueberrys were rotten. I told staff. They said they were unsweet. I said bs, they were all mushy and stunk. The peaches were the same. The waitress said the cook tasted it and said they were fine. I said he should be fired! I asked her to taste them and she said she doesnt taste test. I then challenged her to just smell them. She refused. I hope the cook tasted more than I did. I feel sick and I only tried two of the firmest berries. The peaches smelled so bad I couldnt eat them. They discounted my meal, so I give them 1 star, but the fruit was still on the buffet when I left 15 min later. Luckily no one else was there to try them.
My husband and I every dissatisfied had to ask 3times to fix my meal because it was either cold or was burnt. My husband didnt receive his drink and his hash browns were cold when serveds to him as well as the bacon being almost raw. I would not recommend this restraunt to anyone. My husband and I will not be returning.
Everything was either undercooked, overcooked, or both. Chicken was dry and melee but still had pink spots. Meatloaf that wasnt half pink was hard as a brick at the bottom. The split pea soup tasted good but the peas were still crunchy. The salad bar was nice and clean and tasty.
The worst place to eat the waitress had very poor attitude waited 40 mins for are food 20 mins or so for are drinks then got table number wrong let four other guys walk out the door so they didnt have to pay there bill an tried putting the tab on us an food was cooked an sat to long an it was the manager cooking very sad iron skillet use to be a great place when we were done waited for her to take are bill so we can pay it we got up waitied about 5 to 15 mins to pay are bill i asked can u cash us out with a smart very nasty attitude told us I AM CLOCKED OUT!!!!!! But she was busing tables an then walked away from us well not coming back lost are business an no i will not call you back have a good day very disappointed customers.
I only have one problem. I have been sick due to antibiotics that I had to take for a sinus infection. They really tore my stomach up. I have not been able to eat for the past week. We stop here for a 34 hr restart. My husband and I went in to eat. I got the buffet. I ate half a chicken leg 4 bites of mashed potatoes and a half a bowl of soup. The young waitress we had charged us $9.00 for the soup and salad bar. After we paid the bill an older waitress found out and was upset. She said we should not have been charged anything but it was to late. You need to teach these waitresses if someone doesnt eat they should not be charged. I was charged for a meal I didnt get to eat and I feel I shouldnt have.
The chopped steak ,eggs and hash browns and service was awsome .I dont know what these other peoples problem is? Well maybe its just them and not the Iron Skillet because this place is great P.S I never eat from a buffet I always order fresh cooked food from the menu so I wont have. nothing to b*tch about when I show up at 11:59 for the breakfast buffet and complain that everything is old and cold
Start off with saying waitress and manager were amazing but if you dont like a ton of pepper beware. The seasoning for the steaks has alot of people. The gravy has a ton of pepper then they also put a ton of pepper in the mashed potatoes. We could only eat 2 bites and no way we could attempt anymore. Our mouths are still burning hours later. If you arent a killer pepper lover say no seasoning for the steak and avoid the gravy and mashed potatoes. They stated that its part of the recipe for both the gravy and the mashed potatoes. Great salad bar and service.
Dont order the steak ...U ask them how does the cook cook these over or under she will reply that depends .Then bring you out a steak that is simply way over cooked after an hour of just waiting for the steak to be prepared and cooked .Then when u cut into them she sees its not cooked right .But obviously does not care .I told her they were both over cooked but dont have time to wait for another one that might or might not be cooked right again .So she walks off .Then when you ask for a managers help she gives u attitude and rolls her eyes at you like its your fault u even ordered a steak and want any kind of discount .She wants to make another one but since it takes soooo long to get it who has time to wait ..Said and done takes a couple bucks off and never comes back leaving the waitress to wait another 15 minutes just to get the corrected receipt back ..Just disappointed..I feel like we should have just left the crappy cooked steaks on the table and walked out ..Now wasted our day since we are drivers and have crappy left overs that wont be that great since they were over cooked to begin with...Oh and be ready to hear all the waitresses IU including the manager complaining about the ta and how cheap they are and how there lives suck ...So unprofessional...Get a new job if u dont like the one u have ...!!!!Oh ya and by the way there was a total of five people in while pl lace but still u will wait and hour for your over cooked food ..
Yesterday was good.today order a cheese omlet.didnt have a lrice just for ham and cheese so ask wattrress if it wascsame prize saidcshe didnt know.got tickett same price as ham and cheese typed i cheese omlet was than charged me extra for the cheese.food was good but i always give at keast a 2 dollar tip but the groucie wattress left so i have wattress that finish up but from now on if i overcharged i will adjust tip
The food was okay. The problem is I paid by credit card (My bill was $26.44) and they charged $31.73 on my card. It wasnt for a tip; we tipped the server $7 in cash. This place will rip you off. I will be filing a fraudulent charge report on my credit card. BUYER BEWARE!
NOT THE BEST BY A LONG SHOT. THEY NEED SOMEONE THAT CAN REALLY COOK. SOME THINGS ARE UNDER COOKED, OTHERS OVER COOKED. GRAVIES HAVE A LOT OF WATER , TO MAKE THEM GO FURTHER. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST VISIT TO THE IRON SKILLET. THE ONLY TIME I GO THERE IS WHEN I AM IN THE AREA, AND DO NOT WANT TO TRAVEL ON TO FIND SOMETHING BETTER.

2022-03-03We ordered the double bacon steak burger, kids spaghetti, and chicken fried steak with heavy and mashed potatoes. Absolutely delicious. It was so good the only one with left overs was the kids spaghetti. Portion size is pleasantly larger than we expected. Waitress was friendly, attentive, and great service!

2022-02-07Was good before covid, but after that all the country prides and iron skillets started serving a frozen steaks mostly to save some money.Im ok with that, but they supposed to be honest and tell me about that. At this time I even asked if that t-bone will be made from the unfrosen meat and the lady ensured me that it would be fresh. And thats what I got... The driest steak I ever tried.P.S.: thats prepeared medium...

2020-01-11We did not eat at The Iron Skillet because they offered only salad as a gluten free choice. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. The buffet looked like mainly American basics for a quick meal. The dining area was clean and easy to find.

2021-11-27No issues. Food was hot prepared correctly booth was clean, staff were friendly and refilled drinks and checked on us. And remember this is a truck stop its not meant to be a 5 star restaurant. 7am to 10pm are the hours. I believe there is still a staffing problem but did not affect the meal.
