Friendship begins with tulips. And, at one point in history, tulips were more valuable than gold. 😊This park blooms in Spring. Many pretty flower trees and colorful garden beds. It’s a wonderful gathering place for all ages. The weekends are typically eventful and crowded. I opt to walk around on weekdays for solace and peace. Come by, it’s darling here. There’s no admission fee. There is a small parking lot. It is also beside a quiet neighborhood. Drive slow. Go lovingly.
Inniswood is a largely volunteer-maintained collection of formal gardens, wooded hillsides, and meadows. It is well cared for, with paved trails suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. (Mind you, there are hills). Lots of wildlife and many flowers in spring, summer and fall, from local wetland wildflowers to a formal rose garden. Used regularly by professional photographers.
A park donated by the Innis Sisters and now a beautiful destination for families, photographers, nature lovers and people just out and about for a walk in a beautiful setting. Its broken into smaller sections each with a unique theme from the rose garden to the childrens garden. Something wonderful can be seen and enjoyed during all the seasons and plants and events are planned accordingly. Food is not permitted in the park but picnic tables can be found in the parking area. No bikes sports or skating is allowed in the park due to the nature of the park. No animals are allowed but service animals are the exception. Very handicapped accessable with two separate restroom facilities. One in the front to the right of the main entrance and one in the middle by the childrens gardens.
Would have been more enjoyable if there wasnt about 20-30 different photographers having photoshoots there. I felt like I was in the way the whole time while just trying to enjoy the park.no dogs are allowed - which I appreciate as someone with a dog phobia.its also pretty small. the longest path was half a mile. I can see this place being good for kids but its meh for college students.
This is a really unique metro park. Several different gardens are on the property and are all really well planted and kept. Paved and smooth boardwalk paths make this park wheelchair accessible. Several wildflowers can be found in the hardwood forest area. The Sisters Garden has several kid and family friendly areas including grandmas house, Native American story path, storybook trail, small wetland, treehouse, and winding paths.
Great park for walking, lot of trails, woods, flowers, birds, stream, greenery..Lot of parking and east access parking. 👌Park closes at 9pm..No bikes, sports allowed, no pets allowed,Rangers drive gasoline carts on the trails..The sound of their cart flew away all the birds..And spread gasoline smoke smell.. 😤
First visit, very well maintained, if u have mobility issues u will need scooter or wheelchair, some areas r not accessible for those devices. No pets allowed, it would actually ruin the solitude. If u r into photography, check out rock garden stream and waterfall. They will be planting more beds soon.
This place is absolutely gorgeous, and has something for everyone. As a photographer myself, I know it can feel a bit crowded with families and couples posing for the camera during the hours around sunset, but honestly you will never run out of beautiful spots to sit and enjoy the beauty (or strike a pose). The variety of ecosystems represented in these gardens is incredibly impressive; one minute you feel like youre in a Canadian forest, and then next you find yourself in a beautiful rose garden, and then a field of wild flowers, and none of it fails to impress.
A nice little getaway from the fast-paced city life. Theres no admission and you walk right in. A good place to take the kids. No pets allowed though. Peaceful trails, beautiful flowers and wildlife. Theres always couples walking, people playing Pokemon go, birdwatchers, or groups taking wedding photos or prom photos. Even with the variety of people, its never too crowded.
There arent enough words in the world to express how gorgeous this park is. All kinds of hidden nooks and niches, garden surprises, little vistas, whimsical statuary. Ive never been to another park like it. Its a gem of Columbus. Im almost sorry Im writing this review, as I wouldnt want it to become overwhelmed with visitors. But it really is a beautiful destination, and my favorite metro park in the greater Columbus area.
Spring is Springing! Inniswood is a jewel of Columbus and I cant believe this is my first time here. Looking forward to returning as the seasons change, but the buds are starting to burst. Be sure to look up as much as you look down, natures beauty is all around you here.
One of the most well manicured gardens/parks Ive been to in Columbus! Beautiful flowers and landscaping design with plenty of photo ops. A great circuit of about 3 miles for a walk and tons of pokeGo stops and gyms. Will definitely be coming back. Heavily shaded areas perfect for summer evenings. Pictures dont do it justice!
Beautiful gardens with well laid, mainly paved, walking trails throughout. There is a wonderful variety of plantings and layouts including wooded trails a rose garden, herb garden, stone and wooden bridges as well as an herb garden. There are a few buildings on site, some geared toward children. Great photo opportunities. Parking and entry are free. At the entrance there are postings about classes offered.
Absolutely beautiful. Riddled with wildflowers this time of year, multiple trails and wildlife everywhere. Really close to the first trail was a barred owl, and a turtle was sun bathing in the water by the rock garden. Multiple people were taking senior pictures here. Magical. I really loved the story you can read while walking a maze. Free parking, open until sundown. Great for a nice day, short walks or longer strolls.
Recently had my first visit in early spring. Such a majestic park with MANY trails, nooks and crannies for all to explore! Imagination wonderland! I cant wait to visit again now that everything has blossomed amid bloomed! Water features are very relaxing, and the layout begs for the running and playing of children. Just wish I had known of this park when my children were young. Delightful!
A place to definitely visit.Very calm, peaceful, beautiful and lovely park.Great neighborhood too.Has lots of history to learn while inside.Perfect arena for good photoshoot.Lovers, family, visitors or singles are welcome there too.I used it for meditation and getting good pictures. Will visit again.Thank you for such a magnificent place.
Absolutely one of my most favorite parks. We go often during the Spring and Summer but this year was the first time we went during the Fall and the view was spectacular! Lots of beautiful spots, secret gardens and childrens gardens to play in. You will not be disappointed!
This is the most beautiful park in Westerville. Then again, its more of a garden than a park. Actually, there are many themed gardens. They have an herbal garden, fern garden, Bible themed garden and so many more. They have covered areas and lots of places to sit down and rest amidst the gardens. So fun to come here and explore and many of the plants are labeled with their names. I love that. So, that makes it a great learning place too. They have a nice boardwalk and some more natural trails. Pets are only allowed in certain areas so be forewarned its not a place to explore a whole lot with your dog.
Just spent the afternoon walking around Inniswood and in my opinion it is the best park in the Columbus region. The gardens are filled with beautiful blooming flowers and plants leaving a fresh fragrance throughout the area. The paths throughout the woods are equally beautiful and calm. I cant wait to come back in the fall and see the different fall foliage.
Absolutely stunning, such a surprise to find such a gem. My wife and I walked in on a slightly overcast day and the first place we walked over to we saw a garter snake among the herbs, a monarch butterfly a few frogs and tons of songbirds and a few woodpeckers. We were shocked at how nicely maintained and obviously they are doing something right if the wildlife is that abundant in the middle of Westerville. We absolutely will be back soon and I cant give this place enough stars 🙏
This park is beautiful and I love the lights at Christmas. I went ahead and suggested an edit for closing time though. The park does not stay open till 9pm for the lights. I mentioned this to the ranger and he got pretty snarky about it. I guess technology is hard. For some reason even the metro park website does not mention the hours. Except when offering hot chocolate on Sundays. Park closes at 8pm this time of season. Hopefully I can save someone else the trouble of bundling up their toddler only to be told to leave 10 mins later.
Really neat park with multiple different gardens and areas to go to. The herb garden is pretty extensive for its small footprint and includes a ton of different herbs as well as various different species of certain plants (they have an entire garden with different species of thyme for example). I spotted a clearwing hummingbird moth here and it was very exciting! The park is well kept and there are different landmarks to venture to, I did not check out the park facilities due to covid.
Beautiful park, I tend to walk there at least 4 times a week and enjoy my adventures. Which makes me very disappointed with a park rangers actions at 6:25pm on February 24th 2022. It was at that time I took a break from my walk and sat in car, planning to return to walking after five minutes. A park ranger (older white male) approaches my car so I open my window to talk him. He told me the park is closed. I said, sorry I thought you closed at 7. He said its getting close. So instead of arguing I listened to him, but on the drive home I regretted not saying anything. It was 6:25, 35 minutes before closing. I get we all want to go home from work but kicking people out early is not cool. I doubt Ill get a response from this but I love innis woods and next time Id like to finish my walk instead of being told to go home.
Such a beautiful Metro park. So many plants to explore and great areas to walk. Busy during homecoming and fall due to being such a great place to take photos. On a slow day you can get lost in nature with the family. Just take your time exploring the various planted areas and wildlife.
Inniswood Gardens is one of my favorite parks to visit. It is a smaller park, and very kid friendly. Lots of Poké Stops for Pokémon Go players! They do NOT allow pets on any of their trails, and jogging, skateboarding, etc are also prohibited. This park is very educational with lots of activities throughout the year. It is the go-to park for photographers, and you will often see family portraits, wedding parties, homecoming and prom photos being taken.
Spent a day here recently and the park was packed with photographers, as Im a photographer myself it was quite interesting to see so many cameras in one place. The grounds are well manicured and maintained. Large variety of settings in one small park. From old barns and stone walls to intricate wood screens and pergola. Highly recommend.
Such a gorgeous park! We did family pictures here and ended up exploring and playing a lot as well. It is definitely a big photography destination, but its easy to see why. There was also a yoga class going on if thats something youre looking for. There are a couple restrooms and water fountains. There are also a ton of benches, so it would be a great place to bring a book!
Great location with diverse foliage and spacious sceneries to suit your photography or leisurely desires. Community events such as Tai Chi and doggy play time are wonderful, and there are even wheelchairs available for use and handicap-friendly pathways. I highly recommend visiting this amazing Metro Garden!
Perfect place for family pictures. It could be more of an asset to the surrounding ecosystem if the majority of the non-native grass was removed and replaced with native plants for the pollinators and native grasses otherwise. A few vernal pools for amphibian breeding would be a plus .
This park isnt at all what I had expected, and I was thrilled! I absolutely LOVED it. Im one of those people who enjoys a good romp through the woods just to see what kind of critters I can find. I usually avoid popular public areas, because its harder to see animals that might typically be more shy around people. But sometimes I dont feel like going through all the effort of packing up a bookbag of supplies and going hiking off trail for hours on end. This park is the perfect remedy for that. Multiple different types of habitats all in one park, with easy to navigate paths. And despite the number of people who were there, I was able to get up-close and personal with one of the local (and very much wild) Barred Owls for some BEAUTIFUL once-in-a-lifetime shots. And he/she paid me no mind whatsoever! I definitely plan on going back often!
Its so beautiful and manicured but very difficult to recommend. It is swarming with photographers and people being photographed. One of the park rules is, dont let photography block trail paths. The photographers and subjects are absolutely blocking trail paths, if not entire areas. Photographers and subjects are so thick in the park that photographers are sometimes competing for space and blocking each others shots! Its not a pleasant experience for a walk because of the photography congestion.
Inniswood Metro Garden is a gem in the Metro park system. This beautiful Garden is comparable to gardens in Europe. The trails in the woods on boardwalks over canopied wetland woods are cool and refreshing. The childrens garden offers hours of adventure for the little ones. There are several places that are great for getting that ideal photo. I highly recommend a visit to Inniswood Metro Garden.
Inniswood is a jewel! This botanical garden is a rich and diverse collection of natural history and hardy plant material. This place has a feeling that can only be explained by visiting. Best time to visit is in late afternoon or early evening, when Inniswoods beauty indistnguisly harmonizes with the natural world.
This is one of my favorite places to go out and enjoy nature!Innswood metro garden is the perfect blend of well scaped and cultivated displays of many diverse plant spp. And naturalized conservation areas (with well maintained trails.)the park staff at friendly and helpful the park is moderately large those who tend to lose their way may want to glance at the map in the enternece gazebo. Most days spring and summer say 11am to 5pm the main garden area may be crowed due to the stunning gardens being a attractive place to shoot photographs.Local guide tip off: ¡Photographers! If you are a photographer looking to network with other creators in your space, this is a VERY popular spot. Being a regular here could have a large variety of benefits to your career and connection to Nature.
This was an amazing park! We went there to playing pokémon go and it was the best experience! But the scenery was beautiful! All the wild life and flowers! Definitely a must go for the whole family! Parking can be a little challenging the later in the day you choose to go!
A much treasured Westerville walk, full of well-tended gardens and flowers that abound along with Native and not so native permanent specimens. Hard not to relax and enjoy a day here. Much-needed getaway. A big Thank you to the 200 + caretakers of this beautiful landscaped area.
This park is a must visit! It has the most beautiful flowers and wild life! Just keep in mind to bring bug repellent and tick repellent. Oh also watch our for spiders during the nature walk! While Im personally fascinated by them I could see those who have a phobia of spiders not enjoying the nature walk but every part of this garden is absolutely wonderful.
This is one of our favorite places. However Im giving one star (would be zero if I could) to the grouchy old park ranger who interrupted our picnic dinner this evening. At exactly 7:00 he drove his golf cart up to our picnic table and I quote, You need to leave. The park is closed. He could have asked us to please depart when we finished our meal, or asked if we realized the park hours had changed on Oct 1st. No, he ordered us, the taxpayers who pay his salary, to leave. I hope the metro parks will not allow this old grouch to ruin their beautiful Iniswood Gardens.

2022-06-20Gorgeous. It is a beautifully sectioned and extremely well kept garden. I went there with my friends and my toddler. we took her stroller on trails and it was smooth to navigate. She loved the green space and golden sunshine. Good weather plays the lead role to let you enjoy this beauty. Dont forget sunscreen and sunglasses if you are visiting on a sunny day. Trails may not always have shade from trees. They have placed benches on some spots to let you take rest, feel the nature and of course, click pictures.Park wasnt overcrowded, we enjoyed walking while peacefully reading the informative stuff about what they have grown. we got so lucky to find an owl, the little guy was chilling on a lower branch of tree and posing 360° for all the people around. It was big and beautiful.Luckily, we didnt find any photographers blocking every other spot. People were clicking pictures but they were not taking very long. Over all it was great experience. I would love to visit again.

2022-05-30I love how the gardens has various spots to stop and enjoy. It is a big garden. There were a lot of people visiting but it didn’t feel that way as I was exploring and enjoying the gardens. I loved the various kid friendly spots along the journey. From the quotes to the flowers, the gardens had many spots for self reflection. To hear the water and listen to the birds and small creatures within the woods was relaxing. The gardens are kept in great shape.
