The service was great. My omlette was superb. My grits were bland. My pancakes were delicious. The parking was terrible. The restaurant was cozy! They went the extra mile to stay open longer as to not kick us out at the proper closing time. Which helped because it was a first date.
We were looking forward to a rare breakfast out during the week and thought of the Inn on Coventry, a neighborhood place that has been around with a decent reputation and great selection of eggs Benedict. What did we get? A dirty table, a scoop of cold chorizo almost falling out of the side of a small side bowl and hollandaise sauce that was lumpy and gave the impression that it wasn’t cooked enough. The poached eggs, however, were poached to perfection. To top it off, our bill showed 2 cups of coffee that we didn’t have; they were taken off at the register. I know that the restaurant business is tough and that it’s hard to get staff. It’s not my business to tell them how everyone should be taking care of the customer, from the bus person, to the cook, to the wait staff, to the owner at the check out who had he asked how everything was would have a truer picture of how customers felt. Btw, the woman sitting behind us, upon receiving her order said that it was totally unacceptable and walked out. I’m sure she will not be going back and neither will we. Pay attention or you will keep losing customers.
I came in a couple minutes after open right behind the only server who was lateShe took another tables order and did not come over for 10 minutes I walked out. The lady behind the counter looked at me several times realizing that I had not been served and didnt say a word or care either.
Space is a little tight but well worth the wait (20-25 minutes). I would highly recommend the Huevo Pan de Mais if youre a spice lover like I am. I also had to try the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (word of mouth suggestion): it did not disappoint! Smooth batter cuts easily and melts in your mouth with every morsel! Definitely check this place out if you havent been!
Stay away when crowded. First the noise level is awful......staff is rude..and impatient with you....cold toast and then the customer has to butter it?...ew....My omelets had rW uncooked green peppers....stay away on weekends...unless very early....I like when they argue with customer....like we are wrong.....dont waste your time
This place is awesome! Parking was a little tough, but that’s the case for any restaurant or bar in Coventry. They have a great breakfast selection with staples like eggs, bacon, pancakes etc. with more unique options as well. I loved this open face crab cake and egg sandwich I got! Hash browns were good, too! Pretty quick service as well.
First time at this longtime standing Coventry Rd Icon. I wasnt disappointed everything was great from the greeting when you first walk in, to being seated, server taking your order, food arriving in a timely manner and at the right temperature. Plus overall great customer service, until the time you leave
Looking for good comfort food, in a relaxing environment?Ive been coming here for years! 😁😊 Love the staff and the food has always taste soooo good and always fresh☺☺🤩😊In the photo is an Angel named Robin who has been at The Inn for the last 32years😇 shes such a sweetheart.
Food was mid. Waitress was sub-mid. She would disappear for half an hour at a time. Did not even give us our food herself or asked us how the food was. The food we were served was cold and tasteless. The dining area was super crowded. Plenty of staff walking around and taking up space, but no one looked like they were doing anything — just chillin with their hands in their pockets. Server took 30 min to give us our bill after we requested. One of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had.
Don’t you just hate when you hype up a restaurant to a friend, insist they give it a try, just for the place to let you down and embarrass you?Inn on Coventry has been awesome in the past, and I feel bad even writing this review, but it needs to be said. The last several times I’ve been there, the food hasn’t been up to its usual standards, but today was so bad, I probably won’t be back for a long time, if ever. Now, I completely get that Covid has screwed up a lot of restaurants. But up until the past few weeks, this place was still pretty darn good. Inn on Coventry used to have amazing buttermilk pancakes, with the crispy edges. And I loved that you can order one, two, or three, because some days, I just can’t eat more than one pancake. I was starting to come in weekly for these great pancakes. Also, the wait staff was so friendly, making this place an all-around pleasure. Then I noticed the service was getting lax — and I was usually going during the week, at times when the place wasn’t busy. But whatever, still good pancakes, right? Not so much the last several times. No more crispy edges, which was bumming me out, but at least they still had a great flavor. And while I wasn’t getting refills on my coffee, I wrote it off as mistakes happen. But today, when a friend decided he wanted to try the place with me, it all came crashing down. By this point, I’d accepted those crispy edges were just a fond memory, but these pancakes were actually burned. One part of my friend’s order never arrived (luckily, he wasn’t charged for said item, so I guess it was never written down in the first place). We seldom saw our server, but the place was packed, so we forgave that and the burnt pancakes. But then we made our fatal mistake of asking for separate checks *cue scary music.* The waitress became irate, saying it would take a while to make that happen. No biggie, we didn’t complain. When she came back about 10 minutes later, she huffily handed us the bill, wrote out the exact amounts we each spent, and said we could use that at the cash register. We were also berated for not asking for separate checks at the beginning of the meal, saying they figure most people are either paying together or using Venmo to send each other the money. Our mistake, we admitted, and profusely apologized. Tucking our proverbial tails between our legs, we then took this bill to the cashier. There was much confusion amongst several employees as to whether taxes had been applied to that bill. That was never cleared up, and my friend pointed out he was being overcharged. The cashier actually smirked at him, not offering to fix the issue. He went through the bill, going over each item, and sure enough, he was correct. The cashier angrily gave him his change and refused to say another word. I guess the customer ISN’T always right anymore. I think I might have been charged incorrectly too, but I’m non-confrontational to a fault, and by this point, I was just over the whole situation.Again, the pandemic has made everything crazy. I get it. But judging by the stress I’ve been observing recently in this previously pleasant staff and the drop in food quality, I believe something has gone seriously wrong with this place. It’s still drawing in plenty of customers, possibly due to the lack of other similar options nearby — but they lost two customers today. I’m sad to see this place slipping so badly.
This place use to be extremely nice, idk if it sold to new owners or the chef is different but I’ve been here 4 times and it’s been kinda mediocre all 4 times. They can’t even do well done hash browns. The hash browns are cold all the time. The poached eggs are over done. Honestly I don’t care if it takes longer cook my food to order I know that it’s pre cooked and sits then plated per order wish is running my experience here. Please address the cooking process in the back they need to make food per order or reheat them on the grill.
Went here for brunch on Sunday around noon. It was very busy with about a 15 minute wait to be seated. The food was 5-stars amazing (got the corned beef, heuvos rancheros, and the lemon ricotta pancake) although slightly cold, but the service was absolutely 1-star abysmal. Our food took forever to come out while we watched other tables seated after us get their food immediately. It was like our waitress forgot about us. She was completely frazzled and rude. She also forgot that my friend asked for her eggs differently, and that I had ordered a pancake. When I reminded her about the pancake, she said “I wish you had told me when I came by earlier.” Um, what?
Be prepared to wait for about 30 minutes if you go on the weekend! Its a good wait tho. The visit started out rocky when I ordered the corned beef & hash with home fries. The corned beef was from a can and comes with raw onions mixed in. The waitress was very pleasant about bringing me something more to my liking. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, home fries, and chicken tenders. Which was all delicious! Also the male waiter made sure that I bottomless coffee, that made me smile 😊 All and all it was a decent 1st visit.
Shared Brunch with a Highschool Classmate from Cali at this Coventry favorite Sunday. I had steak & eggs he had a spinach omelet ( forgot to take pictures!) It was super crowded the wait was long but we were deep in conversation so it didnt matter. Our waitress, Michelle was friendly and efficient as was Asa, the busboy. Hours 7am+1:30 pm.
Always get the lemon ricotta pancakes. Always. The service was great, the wait on a busy Sunday morning was fast, and everything we had was delicious. The Inn has about a dozen styles of Benedicts to try. We had the crab cake style and the Lox style. Both were mighty tasty with fantastic hollandaise.
Benedict was Fantastic, theyve set it up so that they can focus on making a good Egg Benedict and the meat is whats added to it. Ordered the Nova Lox and was not disappointed, there was a lot, which I like. Service is spot on, everyone is friendly and fast to get food out. Drinks are a little pricey (both non and alcoholic), can feel a little cramped at times, no Wi-Fi and cell reception can be difficult in some parts of the restaurant. Dont accept AmEx and the tipping practices are a little shady. But overall a really good experience.
From the moment we sat down, we felt unwelcome. We had to wait FOREVER for our food; some of it was cold. Some was lukewarm and some was very hot (as though it had just been microwaved). My spouses meal was missing items, as was mine. We had to ask repeatedly for refills. When paying for the meal, no one asked my spouse how it was, but he told them anyway. The owner/manager said he noticed we had to wait a long time for our food, but he didnt do anything about it and didnt even apologize. The owner/manager discounted our check by 50%, but we will not be back. The food was terrible and so was the service.
My wife got the crab patty and egg. Tasted like crab gone bad or tuna fish. I got Blackberrie pan cakes. They were pretty good. The waitress could have a little nicer. Couple next to us didnt like anything they ordered and didnt pay for it. Nice spot but needs some training.
Very disappointed in the food quality. This was one of my favorite restaurants. Now they will join the do not return list. My Cabcake Benedict was served with boiled not poached eggs and their new server acted as if I should be grateful. The home fries were cold and under cooked. My husbands eggs pretty much raw. The coffee was good.
I have the pleasure of visiting B-side liquor Lounge which is located in the same building as the Grog Shop on Tuesday for lyrical rhythms. Lyrical rhythms is open mic with poetry spoken word and a live band. They also have some of the best catered food. Comparable to Four Star Restaurant quality. The menu often changes so theres something new each time. I can tell that use the freshest quality of food. So delicious and the best price for your dollar especially that late at night. Menu starts at $8 and up. Not to mention the bartenders are heavy-handed. This place is casual and diverse with a very laid-back crowd. Youre guaranteed to have a great time
We ordered quite a bit of food; most of which met our expectations. Although the restaurant was no busy, we had to wait a long time and the three main breakfast dishes did not come out at the same time. One person at our table waited 15 minutes after the other meals were served to get her meal. In essence, good food; long time to wait to order and also long time to get meals.
I forgot to take pictures of my food, i’m still getting used of taking pictures of my food. Any who, today I tried the meat lovers omelette with grits and toast. When my plate came out I was cracking up at the square cheese that was placed on my bowl of grits but luckily my food food was good. My omelette was very fluffy with sausage, bacon, and ham. This was the first I had a omelette with ham in it and I really didn’t enjoy it, not because it wasn’t prepared good it was just a personal problem of mines. They do fill up fast so it’s good to get there early and if you don’t it’s worth the wait and the wait isn’t usually long, it all depends on how long someone stays at the table. The staff was very friendly, this was my second time at this restaurant and my first experience was good. The best thing about this restaurant is that it doesn’t take years for your food to come out, we ordered and literally five to ten minutes later our food were out at our tables hot and ready to eat! I do recommend this place and they also have liquor for the adults and they have different specialty drinks!
Absolutely amazing brunch restaurant! In the area for a day and we had so many places to choose from, glad we went with our gut. I ordered the banana walnut french toast along with home fries and I mean it when I say that I have never eaten a better breakfast than what I was served here. Friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere! Highly recommend.
We will never go back again. We used to go to the Inn every weekend and always got the eggs Benedict. Over the last 2 years, we have gotten great service but the poached eggs were ALWAYS over cooked. Poached eggs (that go on eggs Benedict) are by definition supposed to be cooked so that the yolks arent cooked and run when broken. We have had to send back the eggs and get replacements...which were always wrong. I took a pictures of todays last chance...my eggs were completely cooked through even after we asked the waitress to tell the cook to make them extra runny.
We had a long wait for a table which was fine but with a table of 7 and 4 of us didnt get what we ordered. Mine was completely wrong the first time and when it was remade my omelet wasnt cooked all the way. 2 orders of eggs benedict had over cooked eggs, and the blt sandwich came with no mayo(the menu says it comes with mayo) the servers and staff were great but our food was not.
My lemon ricotta pancakes were raw inside. This was our first visit here, maybe yours are mushy by design, but I usually order lemon ricotta pancakes when I dine out at other restaurants, and they have never had this consistency. It was like baby food with a hard crust. Our server wasnt mean but he wasnt overly welcoming either. The lady working was much friendlier.
The visit started off weird as the person on the phone told me there is no wait and when they do, they don’t use a list and it’s just first come first serve/wait in line. When I got there, there was in fact a long wait and a wait list. Anyway, the food was good, very generous portions, service was efficient and fast, and people were friendly. 100% would visit again.
Had the breakfast special. Good value. Also got a carbonated beverage (free refills - I went Coke and Orange (Crush? If its a Coca-Cola product))Hadnt been there in about a year. Similar changes as to the library downtown - more plexiglass, fewer chairs. I think I first ate there in the early 1980s. My girlfriends parents took us out so theres still some residual resonance.
My absolute favorite brunch spot on the east side. Even when its busy during weekend hours, the servers and hosts manage to run the place very efficiently and get everyone seated and taken care of. The pancakes are to die for...absolutely MASSIVE and so many tasty flavors! Lots of other great options as well. Yes its a small place, but it feels more homey than some of the other places in the area when youre there. Although it may not be a huge comparison, I definitely prefer this place over Tommys.
I was sat in the back of the establishment without any type of restaurant/diner type feel to it. And even more importantly they had the outrageous idea 💡 to be having the seats 10 feet from the restrooms... not to mention that the people who came in behind me ended up getting seated in the front which were the better seats.
Visit this place few weeks ago usually my husband bring me breakfast from here from time to time even though that the breakfast its good and reasonable prices the breakfast sometimes is kinda different in the way is cook its not consistent and how is cook sometimes the potatoes look hard and taste hard and burn is like either the cooker has some problems cooking simple breakfast or they over cook the potatoes for no reason and the bacon in the bigginnig went we started buying the breakfast tasted real good now we notice the difference but hey maybe perhaps they have to change the brands of the food because us the economy and they trying something different.. and the place is not to big tables are close to other people. Place is ok..
Went to a brunch for my nephews birthday. Even though space was limited, and parking a challenge, the Inn on Coventry was cozy and very accommodating. The waiter was very kind and caring, the service was fast and the quality of the food was really good. The quantity was more than I anticipated for the nominal price. I will be returning and recommend others to visit.
New ownership! This place is now a joke!Frozen potatoes (literally) served on my plate!I mean not even cooked!Service is just horrible!Unfortunately a once thriving inn that we loved to go to for Sunday breakfast is now a dive!Wont be back but thanks to the previous owners we will always have great memories of what we had there
This was a great find. Place was fairly busy but we beat the rush. Tables turn over quickly and food came out super fast. My roasted potatoes were delicious and their toast was on point. I got gyro omelet with exyra veggies. It was cooked well, meat was tasty. Overall definitely a rexommended place for a breakfast.
This is the place for pancakes & omelettes! Daily specials are wonderful if you can pull yourself away from the classic standards. The new owner has kept the menu and waitstaff intact. Adds his flourish of a different handmade pastry every day. Recommend an eye-opening Sunday morning Bloody Mary paired with just about anything.
Pretty good breakfast place. I came here with a friend and she highly recommended this place for breakfast. We got seated quickly and the service and food definitely shined. I got the crabs benedict which was delicious, the bernaise sauce mixed perfectly with the crab cake and the mini bun. Also the lemon ricotta pancakes were even better, they exploded with sweet ricotta bits and lemony flavor in every bite but not overwhelming. The one downside is the table was incredibly cramped, like I could move my elbow into the person sitting at another table to the right of me, and having two plates in front of me was so difficult one ended up on the floor. Oh and the prices are a little bit high, but worth it for what you get.
The food was excellent, especially the lemon cheesey stuffed pancake...I guess that was cheese..whatever it was it was good. My plate had nice size portions of food. They accommodated our large group of 14, but it is recommended that you call ahead and reserve a space otherwise you may be seated in a location you wont like ...😂 no shade. We were moved though and the owner/manager dude came thru like a champ. Thx to all who worked there on that fantastic day last week.
Awesome little spot with AMAZING breakfast. Got the steak and eggs and OMG! Flavor all over the plate. The steak was served over the fresher than fresh hashbrowns made from a noticable whole potato and it definitely blessed the potato with all the flavor. Great service, a little cozy, but definitely worth it. Even if you have to wait.
Ambiance is nice, opens early, and conveniently located. I have given them three stars for food quality - I had the Irish Benedict - the hash and potatoes were dry and had little flavor, the onions were not cooked - this might be the style they are looking for but I was underwhelmed. Our server was friendly but the coffee here is more expensive than Starbucks, less flavorful and generally your cup will remain empty. Overall, a little rough around the edges but price and convenience will keep people coming back.
Spoke to “Nicole “ on the phone about my messed up order. Immediately she was defensive before I could even explain what was wrong with my order. I then explained the banana walnut French toast didn’t come with the bananas or walnuts. Really took me back when she replied “do you want to come get your banana?” In a very wisecracking know-it-all tone.I have a one week old, so no and I won’t be back. She then told me she was glad I won’t be coming back and hung up. It’s unfortunate because this was my fiancé’s favorite breakfast place and he’s been going there since he was a child. You get better costumer service at McDonald’s. I’ll be getting my breakfast from Edwins from now on...superb service, better food, & better prices.
First, let me say a lot of people love this place. Im the only one I know that isnt thrilled about it.OK, my issues are that everything Ive ordered has been just adequate. I usually go for the breakfast options. I think I got a lunch item once. None of them have wowed me.Breakfast food is easy to make well. It is very hard to make something extraordinary. Their omelettes are no better than what youd get at any restaurants. In fact, they undercooked the vegetabkes. Their home style potatoes are usually undercooked to my taste too. I like them well browned and mostly crispy.Their corned beef hash and French toast are very good, but you can only get them if you order them on their own. You cant sub a side for corned beef hash or French toast, even if you were willing to pay more. If you want French toast you have to get a full order for $5. Ive tried their skillets and biscuits and gravy too and both were just alright.Dont get me wrong, all the food has been good, its just that its only just good. There is zero wow, but they charge wow prices.Lastly, the service is almost always super slow. Yes, they are always packed, but when each of the wait staff only have 3 tables there is no excuse for not seeing your server for 20 minutes at a time or having to wait 20 minutes for your check after asking for it. It should not take an hour or more from the time youre seated to get some breakfast, pay, and be on your way.If you want good, really cheap, fast breakfast try Irvs on S. Taylor and Cedar before 1pm.
5/5 Perfect place for a Brunch. My family and I came here for brunch after church, and could not have asked for a better experience. We were seated immediately by our waitress, and ordered our drinks. I ordered a Hot chocolate, which was the best hot chocolate I had in a long time, and also came with plenty of whipped cream. Our waitress made sure we had our drinks and water refilled promptly. Then we got our food, which was also very good. I ordered 2 of the chocolate pancakes. The pancakes had just the right amount of chocolate chips in them:not too many and not too little. I will definitely be coming back here more often
Great local place to have breakfast. Love their pancakes. Very good, friendly service. The last time I went, my breakfast partners got there before I did because I had an unexpected delay. They ordered for me and the waitress kept my breakfast hot for me. She came back frequently to check on us and refill our coffee. Its a favorite place for us. Its close to Lakeview Cemetery, which is legendary for the Wade Chapel with its Tiffany window and walls, as well as the Garfield Memorial. It is the final resting place for many famous people. such as President Garfield, Elliot Ness, Rockefeller family members, and other elite members of the Industrial Age. So we followed up our breakfast with a visit there.
We got our table almost immediately on a Saturday morning and they brought my coffee right away. Thr coffee was just right, not too strong or weak, not bitter or acidic at all. The omelettes were very moist and cooked perfectly. I had a lemon-ricotta pancake (needed a little more lemon) and my husband had an apple-cinnamon pancake (applesauce would have put it over the top) . Very quick service and friendly staff. We will be coming here everytime we are in Cleveland! Thanks fur the great service and experience!
Terrible. I work 7 mins from this place and when i picked up my order it wasnt even hot. Homefires were super dry and nasty, Still had the skin on it, and just threw onions on top. Almost like just reheated to potatos. Eggs were just tossed once and threw in the box. I normally dont complain or comment at all, but this was very disappointing. Probably wouldve had a better experience if i dined in.
Go on a weekend! It may be crowded but they’ll get you seated quickly and the weekend breakfast specials are spectacular! The crab cake benedict is life changing. Paired with one of their from-scratch Bloody Marys and you will never want to leave. I’ve been eating there regularly for two years and have never had a bad experience.
Trendy breakfast place with amazing food! Menu has a wide variety of pancakes flavors and types of eggs Benedict. I ordered the best of both worlds; the Irish Benedict with corned beef hash, English muffin and hollandaise sauce. My husband ordered the pancake which was perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Plus they serve Dark & Stormy and mimosas. The wait looked long but in reality as only 5-10 mins. We will be back for another Sunday breakfast.
Inn On Coventry is my go to breakfast spot on Sundays. I am very glad that it has stayed pretty much the same since it changed ownership recently. Everything I have had is delicious but my favorite is the Irish Benedict (corned beef hash instead of ham). Their lemon ricotta pancakes are also a go to for me! Its always busy, and your whole party has to be there in order to be seated, but its worth the wait!
My family and I came here on a Tuesday morning/ afternoon, and the service was HORRIBLE!! First they sat us all the way in the back by the bathroom (segregated) then when we asked to be moved the waiter (a young male with blonde hair) walked away to “get us a table” but when he returned his attitude was so bad, he snatched our menus off the table, almost slapping me with one in the process! Then when we got to the new table he was slamming our waters, spilling them on everything on the table! We ended up leaving Before we even ordered. If I could give ZERO stars I would 💯
Im baffled as to why this place has such high reviews. I got the huevos pan de mais which was andouille sausage, cornbread poached eggs and a chipotle sauce. It was so awful, I dont think Ive ever just taken two bites of anything at a restaurant that I ordered but I couldnt force it down. The chipotle sauce had no flavor and was a gloppy, unappealing consistency. The cornbread was dry, crumbly and flavorless. And the sausage was weird - had no charr almost like it was boiled, and was just two giant hunks plopped on top. My boyfriend got an traditional egg breakfast the egg whites were still half raw. We also got a ricotta pancake which had good flavor but was doughy in the middle. When we told our waitress she asked if wed ever had a ricotta pancake before (yes and I know they are wet from the ricotta but this was literal batter). It was all super disappointing and I dont recommend this place.
VERY RUDE HOST!Went to breakfast with my young daughter. As we sat waiting to place our order we were abruptly approached by the host (elderly man wearing a suit coat and hat) and we were told that we had to place our order asap. We were still waiting for the waitress to take our order. Needless to say my daughter was very upset, and had to hold back her tears. The food was not that great either. I would not recommend this place! Go somewhere else where you will be treated with kindness!!
This place is really good and worth the wait when you get there. Seriously, if they tell you to come back in an hour after you put your name in, its worth it. The food here is really good, although they pack you in like sardines. Im from New Jersey where diners are king, and this place rules. Go here. Also, order the Irish Benedict, you wont regret it.
We came around 11:45 on a Sunday and only had to wait twenty minutes (party of two)! I am new to exploring this area and Im very happy we dropped in for breakfast! Hometown feel... We got a seat right next to the window!I had the no carb Benedict (picture added). Very good, but very liquidy. We tried the chocolate chip and apple cinnamon (needs more apples) pancakes and both were very good. We also tried the lemon ricotta pancake. Great lemon flavor (not too powerful) but I think there was too much cheese. Other than the texture it was good. :) We will be back! Thank you.
One if the best breakfast/brunch spots in Cleveland. Although table are close to each other, it doesnt feel crowded, and Ive never experienced it to be loud. The food tastes as good as it looks, and the prices are nice to the pocketbook. The decor is as comfy as the food. I recommend The Inn and return whenever possible.
My partner hates everything this place makes, and everyone else (including me) loves everything this place makes. The Inns huevos rancheros burrito thing is fantastic, and their potatoes are delicious (nothing fancy, just good basic home-fried potatoes). They have some kind of chocolate chip peanut butter pancake thats also really good (and more normal pancakes, too). Oh, and pretty good prices.
Mediocre food, basic diner. Alarming that they couldnt tell me what kind of crab was used for the crab cakes, all they said was its real. Ended up ordering Mando Benedict and sausage links. Meat was dry and hard, kind of disappointing seeing how many good reviews there are. Friendly and attentive staff though!
The food and service were both very good and the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. We went early before they began to get busy, which I would recommend. We had the corned beef hash and the avocado, mushroom, and tomato omelet. The waitress was very responsive and helped with substituting side dishes.
BEST. BREAKFAST. IN. CLEVELAND.Theres no contest. Try the lemon ricotta pancakes if you like sweet. Savory? Try one of the omelet. Dont forget to check the specials board which can have items not on the menu. Also, Lois is the best.If you can go during the week, Id recommend that. On Saturdays and Sundays the wait can get a little long but not interminable.
Great local spot with something for everyone. Weve been coming here for 2 years and the food is always great, and the service always pleasant. Sometimes there can be a bit of a line during peak rush, but there is ample seating inside and out. Try the Kentucky Scramble or Banana Walnut French Toast!
This is a tough one: the pancakes are fantastic (5 star for those alone, particularly the lemon ricotta). The other dishes weve tried and the service/ambience are only so-so.In the end, its not a place we will frequent, but definitely a place wed go to get pancakes from time to time.
My experience was based on a Saturday breakfast.Pros: food came out in less than 15 minuets after ordering. Food also tasted good.Cons: Waiter literally took our order by just walking up to the table pulling out her note pad and said ok go ahead... So we order the food quickly comes out and she plops the plates down with out saying anything then rushed off. We then trade plates since she had them reversed. Noticed right away one of the sides were missing but she was not coming back until she had the check ready and we had finished eating. We asked to take the side order off the bill since it never came and she quickly revised the bill. Then we came home and both of us had diarrhea.Overall: not a bad place. I have had worse.
Kitchen mixed up order have not eating pork in decades but was brought a runny omelete full of ham instead of Turkey sausage. Waitress return with another remade runny omelet with no Turkey sausage. Watreiss brought me a side order of Turkey sausage which was terrible. Good service, terrible omelets!
Food is delicious as always, but theres always one thing that makes me think twice about going every time: the customer service. I went one morning recently, when they opened for breakfast with my one year old daughter, after working a 12 hr night shift. I was greeted with a couple of rolling eyes from the older waitress staff. The entire time I overheard the waitress staff complain about the other customers, constantly sighing under their breaths, and being very short and rude with their customer interactions. One lady said Oh great as who what seemed to be a regular customer walked in with his wife (who were both apparently slightly mentally and socially challenged). When the phone rang for what I assume was a takeout order, one lady goes Oh great here we go . Again, as observed very short and rude when asked by other patrons for specific seats, refills, silverware. A very pleasant elderly gentleman sat down next to us with his wife and one waitress walked up and said COFFEE without even acknowledging the customer, filled his glass... The man said Thanks! Do you have anything else? and the waitress abruptly responded with Thats all I have and she walked away. I felt so bad for him. They also talked negative about other staff in front of the customers. So, I recommend it for the food because its always been great...but if you want to feel comfortable and welcome as a guest, I wouldnt recommend going there at all.
The feta cheese omelet, egg benedict and pancakes were really good. Regular size portions, not huge. The waitress wasnt welcoming and reacted as if we were bothering her. We felt like we went into a socialist restaurant where employees are paid regardless of the quality.
Definitely a go-to spot for an east side/Cleve Hts Sunday brunch as the REAL corn beef hash, and the tender chicken livers are two of the best in Cleveland. ALWAYS a bit of a wait for seating, particularly after 10:30am. Tables are stragetically placed throughout the small dining area which can make maneuvering past tables difficult for wheelchairs. Lively atmosphere, friendly and engaging wait staff. All food items moderately priced, plentiful and tasty. Have dined here on numerous occasions and not once have there been any disappointment with the food choice, or overall dining experience. Please note: finding available parking (the ONE possible knock against this establishment) can be a challenge along Cleve Hts Blvd or on Coventry Blvd. TG#1157
First time I went here I ordered a particular omelette but asked for no onions. The waitress said You couldve just said you wanted an omelette with green peppers and ham. And then proceeded to say how it was easier for her and the cooks if I ordered that way. I said excuse me?? And she continued to justify herself. Next time I went there (dont know why I went back) I had food spilled on me and they didnt even think to offer us a discount. That same visit they forgot our drinks and never refilled our water. Awful service. I got a quiche that time and it was cold. Never going back.
This is a Cleveland Heights tradition. It is open only for breakfast and lunch and there is always a line at the door waiting to be seated. They serve simple but tasty food. Go for their lemon ricotta pancakes. Each one fills a large oval--but you can order as many as you want!
I was there today on April 2nd 2021 and I ordered a steak potatoes and eggs and I want my steak well-done well they gave it to me well done all right it was burnt to the point to where I was tasting burnt tasting and then I took it back and they were very rude to me a worker who works there complained about me bringing the steak back saying that thats the way I ordered it and I should keep it but if its not the way I wanted it Im not about to keep it so these people over there theyre very rude the the men there that work there are rude I wouldnt go there again ever
Ive been coming here for years and the food and service truly deserves five stars. However some of the changes made by the new ownership to this winning formula has me very concerned about the future of this restaurant. A rebranding effort with a new contemporary logo on the window led to the removal of the neon open signs which makes the restaurant look closed. A few weeks ago I had to call in to ask if the place was open before coming in because it was totally dark. The redecorating effort was uninspired as well, leaving it looking colder. I just have to ask the new management: why change? The Inn was perfection in a diner. You need not compete with gastropubs and boutique French bodegas.

2021-10-18This was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Service was prompt and professional. Prices are decent. Cozy little spot with great food. Our server Mike was on top of it. This place is an example of how service should be. They all helped each other out, and it made for a great experience.

2021-08-05I hadn’t visited this place in probably 25 years. Nice to see some things never change. Loved the Eggs Benedict, service was great, and the Lemon Ricotta pancake is to die for. People complaining that it’s underdone don’t seem to understand that it’s ricotta! It’s not going to have a cake-like texture! Worth the wait!

2022-05-10My guy and I enjoyed our food. Everything tasted fresh and and most importantly from scratch. Nothing tasted truly processed. The food came out in a timely fashion we were impressed and very pleased. Definitely was crowded when we went but that did not affect their performance or customer service. We will be returning. I hope this helps...Peace and many blessings to yo

2022-05-14I was looking forward to having breakfast here, but my experience was less than satisfactory. Two different servers couldnt tell my guest if they had herbal tea, nor could they tell me what liquor was in the Bloody Maria. I should have known it was tequila, but their first guess was gin. My guest asked if she could get her bacon crisp and was told they didnt know how it had been cooked that morning. I suggested they put it back on the grill, which they must have, as hers was served “crisp.” Our breakfasts were served lukewarm, with my single add-on pancake burnt. Potatoes were barely disguised whole baked with a few pieces chopped. Neither she nor I will be returning anytime soon. I should add that even though our servers were not very knowledgeable, they were pleasant.

2021-08-06The food was fine, but the service was odd. We were waited on, I think, by every server we saw. So if when we needed anything we didnt know who to talk to. Small menu with family restaurant style meals. I went at least 5 years ago and had a much better experience.

2021-12-28Delicious, busy, and adorable.. This would be the 3rd time Ive visited this place and I drive a good 40 minutes to get here. I almost always get a lemon ricotta pancake and a benedict of some kind. Their service has always been on point and I have had 3 different servers. Its great to get a good breakfast and then be able to walk it off with all the shopping along Coventry. I will always suggest this place for breakfast, if youre willing to get up, and drive!

2022-06-28This is a great restaurant. Really like the food and the staff. They are very polite. One feedback though, I think the waiters/waitresses should dress like professionals. Wear apron and hats for food safety reasons. Won’t stop me from coming back but I think if you fix those issues , you’ll definitely get 5stars .

2022-04-30Excellent! Nice cozy restaurant that accommodated our huge family. Our waitress was NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING (LIGHT SKIN WOMAN WITH BRAIDS IN A BUN, DIDNT GET HER NAME)The tall guy was patient and kind also. There was one waitress who was terrible though and rude to my aunt, threw the straw on the table when asked and rolled her eyes. Other than that it was good.

2022-05-27The service was good. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, which Ive had from here before and enjoyed but this time they werent as good. I dont think the griddle was cleaned well since I had some onions on the bottom of mine.

2022-05-23The food was real good. But service was lacking. Had to ask for coffee refills twice. More splenda twice. Was told I owe you your toast when my entree came. Waited for it then asked again when I was almost done eating. Didnt come till I was done. It was very busy and they seemed overwhelmed.
