House of Wines in other cities:
My wife and I went for lunch the other day. The food was great, but we waited nearly 20 minutes from the time we were seated before our server came to the table with water and to even take our initial drink orders. After our food arrived, we were never offered more to drink either. They had a large party outside and it seemed our little party of two completely fell to the wayside, which was a bit disappointing for the price paid.
I had a crock and a half, French onion soup with 1/2 Reuben. The cheese on the soup was crunchy, not soft and gooey like usual. The sandwich was soggy from spillage of the soup. HOWEVER, they both tasted really good. The best part was the dessert, creme brulee. It was awesome.
Have always loved stopping by to pick up a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer. The selections are always above par and plenty of variety! Lunch and dinner here never disappoint. The new addition is gorgeous but still enjoy sitting at the bar to enjoy a beer or wine! The patio has a great view and is perfect for those warm summer nights!
Go for the food! It is outstanding both taste and display. Unfortunately this was our first time there and didnt know they usually require reservations so we had to resort to sitting on a large picnic table outside. It was a beautiful day to sit by the river and enjoy each other. The service was very slow but they were packed. The meal took 1.5 hours to receive and one of our appetizers came with the meals... Theyre focus is clearly on food and presentation but could use a little bit of help in timeliness. This is only reason it wasnt a 5 star. Well be back and wont plan on being in a hurry to leave. (Their beer and wine selection is awesome!)
I ate dinner at the House of Wines last night (May 23rd) with some friends. We sat outside since it was such a beautiful evening very enjoyable. I ordered their dinner special which was prime rib for $26 with mashed potatoes and green beans. I can honestly say that was the best prime rib Ive had in a long time. Absolutely delicious the entire dinner was fantastic! The servers were great, friendly and very helpful. One of my friends had the turkey wrap and the other had the salmon dinner they were both very pleased with their meals as well. Good selection of wine and reasonable prices.Definitely a 5 star! We will be back.Thank you House of Wines for a wonderful, satisfying and relaxing evening.
I came here with a friend on a nice Thursday evening. I walked in and was pleased to see a huge selection of wines and beers. I think the food service was an add-on; the focus seems to be on wine and beer sales. Other reviews will address that. We were alone in the store for a minute until a hostess found us and directed us to our outside table. Beautiful. A nice sunny location aside the Muskingum River. There was live music. The beer and food were great. The service was very good.
The beer and wine selection is fairly good but expect to pay high prices. They even have a small selection of cigars, but as the wine, they are priced high. Some are twice what the going price is elsewhere. The dining menu is fairly robust, and the atmosphere is quiet and cozy. Go there with plenty of time on you schedule, and you will probably enjoy dinner.
We were there on 7/2. Dined on the patio - our first time out to eat since the start of “stay home” order. Food was excellent as always, patio was very nice - we had never eaten out there. Service was poor, which we had never experienced there before. Also, I was under the impression servers must wear face masks. None worn by servers or cashier or anyone we saw. Although no Covid cases in Washington County right now, I think lack of masks is too risky (even fast food people are wearing them at drive throughs). Plus I thought they were legally required. We won’t be returning any time soon. Sadly.
Well worth our drive. We used to live in Columbus and had more selection. This place was a refreshing hidden gem for this area. Made for a great date night. Paper napkins and diner chairs remind u it is not 5 star or snobby but the food was top notch and quality and we are foodie snobs. The blue cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped dates and lobster bisque I highly recommend as appetizer. I had the scallops and they were jumbo and perfectly seared , you could cut them with a fork...like butter. Risotto was flavorful and cooked to perfection, the butternut squash puree was elegantly smeared and added to the presentation. My husband had the duck and said it was perfect. We recommend the chocolate caramel cake with mocha icing...it was perfect also..cake was moist, caramel was perfect and mocha icing was to die for. Also had a fun wine tasting machine in showroom where u get a card and can help yourself to wine tastes. Made for a fun, interactive part of dinner.
Food was excellent. Wait staff attentive. Wide selection of wine and beer. Dont expect the food in fifteen minutes. Deliciousness takes time. Never had a bad meal here. Ask about cigar nights which are usually last Monday of the warm months. Sitting on the patio overlooking the river after eating a wonderfully prepared steak and smoking a cigar is not to be missed.
This is our second trip to House of Wines. The 1st trip, August 2019 we ended up leaving after 20 minutes with no water, no menus or a glance. We tried you agsin today. I had to find someone to seet us, then it took 30 min to take our order and another 45 to get it to the table. Reuben was cold and potato salad had uncooked potatoes. It took FOREVER to get more beer and wine. We will never be back. To bad as your patio is amazing.
Wonderful service and food.Sally is very knowledgeable on choosing a perfect wine to take home or to pair with your dinner. The food ,service and atmosphere of this place is wonderful. Great for freinds to gather or eating a romantic dinner for two. If you love wine I definitely recommend you stop in and see this place. They even have a serve yourself wine despenser with 10 bottles to choose from very cool and unique.
House of Wines really is a hidden treasure. Ever since I discovered this restaurant it has been one of my favorites and for a while I found myself there at least once a week. Every single time I have dined here, my family as well as myself have had excellent service and truly well-crafted meals that never fail to leave everyone pleased. The chef has a knack for creativity and blends flavors you would never think to pair together into one of a kind culinary experiences but also frequently exits the kitchen to check that all guests are satisfied. My personal recommendation, though simple, would have to be the swiss onion soup which made me appreciate onions in a way I never had before.
Dont judge a book by its cover... a hidden gem in a small town, House of Wines has an amazing menu and a great wine selection. The chef checked with patrons and the staff was very knowledable on gluten free options. We traveled to Marietta for a weekend getaway and came back for dinner a second night because the food was that good. We would pay at least ten dollars more per meal in a larger city, and the food here is on par or even better than high end restaurants in larger cities.
I ordered the beef on flat bread sandwich. There was an inordinate amount of chipotle dressing on it, and after one piece, I knew I couldn’t eat it. The waitress was not interested enough to even ask if she could replace it for me. She did ask if she could box the meal for me, and I answered ‘no.’ We were charged the full amount. We told the owner that our experience was not a good one and that we would NOT be back. He never asked why....just took our money. Terrible experience!
Warning! Do not go here if you enjoy amazing service, great food and a fantastic selection of beer! Im traveling for work and found out about this place from a bartender somewhere else. To make a long story short, everyone was amazingly helpful and personable. I was able to grab some beers to bring home that Ive been looking for. Not only that, but I started to walk a few blocks to try to grab a Lyft (they werent working in that immediate area) when some of the other patrons asked if I needed a ride! Just a purely amazing and fantastic experience. I would go out of my way to come back here. Its home.
Wonderful service, great food, huge wine and beer selection..What more could you ask for? I eat here regularly and have never been disappointed. For lunch you cant go wrong with the filet mignon meatball sub and for dinner the truffle pom frites are an incredible appetizer to start out a meal with.
I’ve been in here twice. Both times I was not greeted, I wasn’t offered any samples or offered any help. Today I stood at the register for over 5 minutes because the two employees were to busy talking to ring me up. They saw me standing there, I made eye contact with both. When I was rung up they didn’t say a word to me or even offer me a bag for my bottles of wine. I will not return.

2022-06-18The wine burger is to die for, it ranks among my top five burgers that Ive had in my life. Really friendly wait staff. Service is a bit slow if theyre busy and getting a reservation is preferred; walk in space is limited.

2022-05-29Had the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. They were weird to us when we did not have reservations. They attempted to seat us outside but the table was taken and there were quite a few empty tables but they sat us inside with the pretext of moving us outside if a table became available. We waited at least twenty minutes before our waitress arrived with a terrible attitude. We ordered right away and then waited at least thirty minutes for part of our order and another thirty minutes passed and were still waiting for a sandwich, bread, pommes frites and lobster bisque and had to flag down another waitress to ask about it and then waited another twenty minutes for two of the four things. We were told the other two orders would be taken off the bill, big favor for something we didn’t receive and then when we got the bill, it was not taken off. They just made excuses with no apology. I will not go back. The food was mediocre at best and service the worst.

2020-01-30This is a wonderful place in Marietta, OH. The staff were absolutely lovely. The restaurant and the area with the wines etc. was also very cool and unique. The prices are very reasonable especially for the high quality of food and wines. The variety was also very impressive. It is a must visit if in this area.

2018-06-28Just went here for the first time a couple of days ago but I LOVED IT! Honestly did not know what to expect when I pulled up front. If one of my friends had not suggested to come here I really dont know if I would have went...but I would have been missing out.The food was amazing!!! They use fresh seasonal food. I got the corn bisque and it was so good!!! I also got the chicken salad on a croissant. Have I said the food was good? :)We sat out on the patio area and that just made it even better. I will be going back!!!!

2021-12-23This place never disappoints!Today we celebrated my wifes birthday with friends. We ordered most if the appetizers (all were amazing) of with the tuna nachos, loaded fries and bacon wrapped dates were our favorite. Our party order burgers, salmon, prime rib. The prime rib was cooked perfect with grest flavor. The sides were even amazing...potatoe salad, scallop potatoes were very good. If you add on top of the amazing food a wide selection of beer and wine you really can never go wrong. Chef and her staff were amazing. As you leave you can look through a huge selection of import and local beer and wineI have had the pleasure of doing dozens of food reviews but this is my favorite place to eat by far close to home.

2021-07-14We sat outside on a lovely patio with a beautiful view of the river. The food was excellent (we had coconut chicken wraps with sweet potato fries), came out hot & delicious. Indoor seating & nice selection of Ohio wines & craft beers for sale in the storefront. Wed definitely go there again and bring friends too!
