The school is great. the education is great. the students... the extra-curricular activities is great. the sports is fun( even if they dont have football) they have fun programs and last but not least it is a college readiness school. they work to help you build a great future then its all up to the student to do what they can or want with the opportunities you are given. ITS A GOOD SCHOOL.

Horizon reviewWell I particularly thought Horizon Science Academy was as good as it was 6 years ago.I was wrong this school is very bad there is a lot of problems happening everyday fights are basically everyday life. Any review you see with 3-5 stars are most likely fake or from years ago. The students accounts are controlled by the school so if you see a students email and name it means the school made that. The pictures on the Horizon page are from 7 years ago the school is always asking for money but never improving the materials. Some of the teachers like to touch their students and dont listen. They are always trying to suspend somebody so there is no one ever in school. The content we learn is not better than other schools or top notch quality this is the second year at horizon i had someone who didnt teach their students. I had two science teachers that didnt teach us jack all they did was put on Brainpop. I am a student that is forced to go here by my parents. Horizon only wants you to know what they think will make them look good. Dont get me started on 1 of my teachers that are crippled, If I wanted to be lectured about behavior i could of asked my mom. This schools only goal now is to get money.FOODLast year I used to get expired milk all the time. The food trays i get here are always open and have holes in them. The food sometimes taste expired.I would recommend homemade lunch.StudentsThere should be a student council to reach out to the staff. The dress code is a huge problem because they will suspend you for having a simple jacket on because it is cold.

Terrible teachers, they act very childish towards the students by calling them out their names and whatever else they feel like they want to say. The teachers has no control over the students far as keeping them out of the hallway during class time, they just run around wild. There are no discipline actions taken for the students when it needs to be, the teachers do not teach. It use to be an excellent school until they changed everything for the worse. Everything is done unprofessionally and I do not recommend anyone sending their child to this school, its humiliating and a disgrace.

It is a good school teachers are always friendly, and are ready to help you. I am a member of the CYSP group which is very good and also helps us physically and academically.

The teachers care about the students success. My son has attended since 9th grade he is a junior now and has progressed each year he has attended.

First off horrible school. teachers are not treating the students well. I recommend not going to this school bc its the most horrible school in the city. fighting is tolerant in this school. this school should not be existing.

This review is from a professional stand point, I dont not work for the company nor do I have children that attend the school. I applied to a position for Horizon Science Academy online. I soon got a return call for an interview which I was excited and eager to learn about. However the process was a joke. Lets start by saying the call I got for the interview was on a Sunday night around 8:30pm to set an interview up for the very next morning. I of course being excited to learn about the opportunity dropped my plans and set the interview up for Monday morning. Naturally I arrived early it was raining and I wanted to ensure I was on time, the principal however was late. As the interview started I knew that they knew nothing about the position they were interviewing for. Mr.Aslan and Mr.Gurbuz both principals of the school were very unclear about the job description. There was no order to the process and they knew nothing about the continuing education etc. However I was offered the position and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so I was told to get back to them the following morning. After the interview I researched the position and the requirements for hours. I then called multiple boards and found a solution and answer. I called Mr.Gurbuz and told him what I found, he was pleased and stated they will call me the next day by noon after their meeting. I never got a call. I left multiple voicemails and sent multiple emails. I even went as far as contacting the very nice woman Adura who recruited me. She was disappointed to learn they have not contacted me days later, especially after offering the position to me. She immediately went to his office while I was on the phone and said hey shes following up with you and you havent contacted her. I basically did the research they werent capable of doing themselves. They then avoided me, when simply could of sent an email informing me of the next steps or their new decision. Im a professional looking to work for a professional company, and this was not one! This was by far the worst interview Ive ever been on. I always give everyone a fair chance so I didnt give up right away. However I cant believe not one but two school principals werent professional enough to contact me. When I finally did get in touch with Mr.Aslan he said oh I hire girl, for Monday. His exact words, I have no problem with that, but they could of had enough respect to contact me. I respected them and was very professional about the situation. Any normal person wouldnt of done research for a company that couldnt give a proper job description. I catered to them, gave them information they needed to know because they both were clueless to what the position actually consisted of. Its no wonder its the third time filling the position since August, one of which was an LPN working against her scope of practice. Thankfully my career and licensure is very important to me and it turned out that the position title was a protected title by the Ohio Department of Education, and they knew no such thing. So terribly rude and unprofessional. What a waste of time, you live and you learn. Im thankful I now have valuable information for my future position.

Horizon Science Academy - Lorain in Lorain, Ohio sent a letter its students parents forbidding the kids from having their hair in Afro puffs and small twisted braids as these are forbidden from the dress code for next year. Who else wears Afro Puffs but Black kids? So are they saying they dont want Black kids at the school or are they saying they only want Black kids with European/Brazillian/Malaysian/Chinesean/any-other-non-Blackean weaves? Oh wait, or maybe they just want the Black kids to perm chemically straighten their hair so they can blend in and be subdued. These sort of policies teach kids to be discriminatory towards one another, and it can have detrimental effects on the health and self esteem of the Black students. It is disgusting and it is wrong.

All inflated talk.. 100 % college acceptance only because no one gets rejected from community college, which is required to graduate.. 3 or more fights a day(you wont be told about) and dont expect to be notified if your kids involved.. Not a good choice if you want an unbias education, and definitely not a school for anyone who has morals or for anyone who wants their kid to have any kind of class.. Probably number one racist school in Cleveland considering the mind set of a lot of the students enrolled (not all, I feel bad for the kids trying for a better future) and the lack of responsibility taken by the staff to ensure the safety of students and/or their mentally at the end of the day.. Transfer in progress..
